Caifanes or Caiphanes is a Mexican Goth Post-Punk Rock band formed in 1987, considered by critics as one of the most innovative and influential acts in Latin American rock during the 20th century.

They emerged from the Mexican underground scene to later jump to the general public with the support of the dissemination campaign called "Rock en tu Idioma" at the end of the eighties. In this tenor, two of their songs ("Antes que nos olviden” and “Será por eso”) are considered among the 100 best (musically) of Mexican rock.

Their most famous songs are "La Célula que explota", "Nubes" and "Afuera".

Soda Stereo is an Argentine Rock Band formed in 1982 and considered the most important, popular and influential band in Spanish rock and a legend of Latin American music.

They were the first Spanish-speaking group to achieve massive success in Latam and played a very important role in the development and dissemination of Latin American rock and rock in Spanish during the 1980s and 1990s. During their career, they were a marked trend in Latin America, they starred in many genres such as the fun music of their beginnings, the new wave, the dark wave, hard rock, alternative rock and the electronic rock of their ends.

Their most famous songs are "De Música ligera", "Persiana Americana" and "En la Ciudad de la Furia".

▌real name:  daisuke niwa / dark mousy / kokuyoku

▌single or taken: single by default

▌abilities or powers: primarily transformation on daisuke's part. dark himself is capable of just about any godly feat apart from outright necromancy and true creation, but his magic takes a hefty toll on daisuke's body and so he rarely ends up using it on any sort of large scale. both of them generally rely on their shared phantom thief skillset to get things done: absurd reflexes, dexterity, flexibility, general cleverness and trained resourcefulness, etc. dark even scolds daisuke at times for relying on his wings too much, and daisuke doesn't like relying on dark for whatever reason since he's stubborn about doing things 'by himself.'

▌worst habits:  self-blame. taking responsibility and enormous burdens on for things that actually aren't their faults. being too self-critical and having very low self esteem, which can catalyze with said self-blame and leave them to unhealthily thrash themselves and isolate or completely self-destruct over being 'useless' or inept. daisuke in particular is a liar and a coward while dark is an incorrigible flirt and troublemaker, but neither of them usually mean any malicious harm.

▌role models:  daisuke is dark's role model for kindness, dark is daisuke's role model for confidence.

▌sexual orientation:  bi. their love is agape

▌thoughts on marriage/kids:  dark n dai are still minors so actually being married and having kids is wayyyy far away ahead of them. that being said, they'd still love to get married someday and generally expect it from anyone they get romantically involved with. kids are a nice thought for the future, but that's very 'we'll get there when we get there' and not something to think about just now when they don't even know if they'll ever be first loved/accepted for being little goth body horror freaks. 👍

▌fears:  being alone, being forgotten, being despised, general helplessness, worse if they're the cause of a certain hurt and they can't do anything about it.

▌style preferences: daisuke prefers plain, comfortable outfits while dark prefers something flashier and dramatic. that being said, daisuke's usually in his white+red school uniform while dark wears a lot of tight black.

▌someone they love: try to name someone they don't love instead.

▌approach to friendships:  daisuke just kind of.... spazzes around until he gets someplace usually. a few heart to hearts, a gift here and there maybe, although he's friendly and attentive enough for the most part, he's actually always surprised whenever somebody outright declares they're his friend given his semi-friendless reputation at school. dark isn't usually invested in making friends and tends to excuse himself as elegantly but swiftly as he can from intimate approach or conversation around strangers, he knows his presence as an extremely infamous celebrity-criminal means he's always gotta be on the move or else he's going to get people into dangerous trouble, so if there's 'any' approach of his, it's going to generally, (if not simply genuinely) come through daisuke.

▌thoughts on pie:  oh u know they follow those cartoon scent trails to a pie they swipe and run off with from somebody's windowsill all the time

▌favourite drink:  something sweet, like a milkshake or lemonade, or orange juice!

▌favourite place to spend time at:  the niwa mansion is really the only place where dark and daisuke can freely relax since the family and its artworks are the only ones who understand just what the heck is going on with the two and won't care whoever it is loafing around. given how busy daisuke usually is, he doesn't really get a lot of free time to spend at home, either; dark meanwhile doesn't have the freedom to spend his time anywhere unattached from daisuke at all, and so he also freely hands over control of the body within the mansion even if it's presently in his form. i guess u could say his favorite place to spend time at is inside daisuke's mind for that. 🧍‍♂️

▌swim in the lake or in the ocean:  probably the ocean. less bugs.

▌their type:  hard to nail down given how open they are in general, but the sorts of traits they like in others include confidence that comes with genuine kindness and compassion, self-integrity, and good amounts of willpower, or as canon puts it, 'strong eyes.' people that scare them juuuuuust a little bit can get them excited, and just a tiny bit of (returned) possessiveness doesn't hurt. someone who appreciates their corny romantic behavior, or doesn't mind being teased a little every once in a while, someone who's willing to administer, or at the very least not avoid, a lot of physical contact. the biggest bottom line, make it or break it trial really is whether or not anyone can accept dark as daisuke and daisuke as dark despite any initial preconceptions and equally love them both; can you reconcile dark's suave, perfected celebrity image with his inner awkward loser and can you reconcile daisuke's sweeter cherub image with his inner freak and demon??

Clark KoF even though I could never actually use him competently, because all of his grabs were sick shit like Shining Wizards, Argentine Backbreakers and Kinnikuman references like Napalm Stretch (directly lifted from Kinniku Ataru's Napalm Stretch) and Clark Spark (his version of a Muscle Spark). 2. Zangief because he's the grandfather of grapplers and seeing Snake Eyez play him replaces my blood with lava, a competent Zangief is the scariest and most awe-inspiring thing in the world. 1. King Tekken because he's Mexican Tiger Mask, cool as fuck, plays extremely fun, has those schmix-ups to go along with the actual coolest thing in fighting games to me: Chain Grabs, where you don't only put an enemy in a command grab, you can "combo" that command grab into 1 to 3 more sequences that, if the enemy does not know how to break, just fucking wipes them the hell out.

Alfred Soto: One of TSJ's Olympians returns with an acoustic lament about a lover who needs to turn off their brain and look at the stars. The bridge is Javiera Mena at her best: a poignant, sinister supplicant. [7]

Kayla Beardslee: Softer yet more haunting than her usual icy electropop singles, but as with any good Javiera track, I’m left thinking about how the music interlaces with her wistful vocals well after the song has ended. The sentimental and the spooky will inherit the earth. (Or at least the Jukebox -- we’ve written Javiera into the site’s will by now, right?) [7]

Mark Sinker: There’s something funny and sweet about outing yrself as a rigorous goth girlie — loves Siouxsie! loves shoegaze! — this far in, and while the song itself is a gauzily slight vapour, no more, it is entirely plausible that the ageless undead (who don’t have working hearts) would affect to sway a little to some pleasantly beatless bossa nova. Memory is really no longer a matter for precision for a vampire.  [5]

Ian Mathers: The goth romanticism of vampires really hasn't been getting a fair shake in pop culture recently, so kudos to Mena for putting it right back in there: "dare to feel that bitter suffering" and all that. And of course it's that rare example of a sweeping ballad that actually has a pulse. Eternal life just so you can keep crying forever — what a concept! [9]

Jonathan Bradley: A gentle guitar arpeggio suggests “Volver a Llorar” will be a polite folk exercise, but Javiera Mena remains too interesting an artist for that kind of dignified but dull work. As the track builds, strings bloom like blood seeping into water, while a bed of subtle but thrumming vocal loops hiccup an accompaniment. Still polite, perhaps, but also rather beautiful. [7]

Katherine St. Asaph: So steep a plunge from her previous heights that it's almost offensive. Javiera Mena is not supposed to sound like the Lumineers! The strings toward the end almost salvage it; the Porter Robinson vocal pongs do not. [3]

Nortey Dowuona: Sandra Mihanovich and Celeste Carballo came from very different upbringings but were connected by their brief romance, and their brave duology of albums Somos Mucho Mas Que Dos (We Are Much More Than Two) in 1988 and Mujer Contra Mujer (Woman Against Woman) in 1990. Milhanovich came from a well-to-do family, her uncle a successful composer (she even covered one of his favorite songs as a favor to him), her father a polo pro, her mother a TV anchor for Telenoche, which was broadcast into millions of homes in Argentina and to Celeste Carballo. Her own fascinating story was never drawn up in any English-language sites, except to say she apparently played with Bob Dylan. She also composed for Argentine TV series Dale, Loly! in 1993, then Inn Trouble in 1997, a Christine Rey Joint meant to address the lesbian lifestyle in the United States, neither of which in this time of streaming and piracy can be found, even with subtitles. These two excellent, long-forgotten icons of Argentinian punk/pop as influences influnced this Chilean maestro. This three-minute jotting of feelings was co-produced by Isidro Acevedo, producer for Jukebox visitor, C. Tangana, Sticky M.A. and Ghouljaboy, nestling Mena in neatly arranged violins while girding it with heavy kick programming, flashes of timpani rolls, and long hi-hat hits. A chirping vocal fragment bubbles forth as Mena's warm soprano leans out of the center of the song. As for what co-writer Pablo Stipicic>> and Mena herself are saying, I do not know. All I can say is this: Love is complicated, but death is simple. [10]

I don't know if someone told you this before but your Princess and Fools au reminds me of the comedy song "Mechanical Girl by Argentine Goth musician Voltaire. It's about a robot girl being taken away from her inventor/father and was forced to marry a king. But she responded by blowing up the kingdom and reuniting with her dad.

I can see it be a cute real event turned fairytale exaggerated to entertain children about an inventor sho loved his automation daughter and both were heart broken being separated. Until reunited in the end. Maybe some different details as I always enjoy stories of characters who were clever and used their wits to get out of bad situations and make good ones for their own.

I had some inspiration from ‘Marry Me’ by Emilie Autumn for Vanessa’s situation before running off with her mock groom. A sort of look at what her would fate could’ve been had she stayed. (Tw: it’s grim, mentions of suicide, and forced marriages)

HARVEY AUGHHHHHH UR SO SMART!!!!!!! honestly dai wouldn't be a hardcore pokemon trainer (he's here to steal hearts not to win fights or become champion^tm) so he wouldn't have a fully decked out party. dai would LOATHE battling, he'd never want to do it, even if given dark's reputation he'd probably get flamethrowers and lightning bolts fired his way every other day or night. it's hard being dark. he'll still use his abilities to save other people because that's his whole thing but whatever.

in my head it was like - hilariously enough dark and wiz would be daisuke's only 'pokemon' and this was an immutable concept in my Brain, if i didn't go the legendary/fragment of giratina route then dark just would've been a gengar possessing the niwa line (to mirror the way dark's sometimes described as the infinitely repeating 'ghost' of the original niwa/ancestor) or a nightmare-curse from darkrai that bled into reality (not biblical/'creation' focused enough, esp on the hikari side of things.)

dark's not allowed to be human, ever, so why not make him just the weird human-infused product of the equivalent of vaguely-pokemon-satan already who has weird dimension hopping powers(dai n dark can already do that normally) and a cool edgelord aesthetic that has a gold torque just like one of their outfits. and wings. and territorial behavior with a sensitive side lmao or everybody wanting to 'seal' and lock them away for being chaotic/trouble makers aldkjaldkjf - anyways you get it! wiz and dark even within dnangel canon are supposed to be pretty unique weirdos already, wiz is more like shaymin status (a la there's only ever like One Around) which i also think suits him a little better than an eevee would too -

in canon the way that artworks fill up dai's house as dark collects them i can see him basically filling up his mansion with all sorts of pokemon that are only 'his' in a kind of a distant and territorial, royal sense- canonically he gets artworks that are / can turn into a small bird (towa, maybe a natu given the psychic/supernatural 'guide to eternity' thing she has going on, or a swablu/altaria since it fits her aesthetic more?) a snake, (or a gecko, that's argentine, there's plenty of pokemon for that,' and a whole ass dreameater-tapir for baku, (drowzee and musharna are both RIGHT THERE) so if we're going canon-wise, i'd give him those!!! i love him slowly building up his found family of little weird guys who he loves and who love HIM very much, + again it elevates the whole giratina fragment/noble ruler of another realm/burdened boyking bit. otherwise, i've always used a clefairy(not a clefable! not! a! clefable!) to represent daisuke and still a gengar to represent dark. dai just has a fairy type affinity in general alongside his normal type behavior since he's a fragmented fairy tale mc. give him a mimikyu or impidmp or something. if anything i think the ghost types as a whole fit dark very well too - mostly in lore.
