Yang, watching the others interact with the kid: "...So, you said that you just came across him in the forest?"

Jaune: "Pretty much, yeah. Seems like he was sent my way."

Yang: "Well, I have to admit that he definitely looks like your kid."

Ren: "I would have to agree. If you didn't tell us, I would assume that you simply brought a younger cousin."

As they watched the others interact with the child, Yang turned to Jaune.

Yang: "Say, what did the Grim Lord look like again?"

Jaune: "Uh, head taller than me. Wicked armor, with a cloak made from blood. General 'Demon King' kind of look. Why do you ask?"

Yang: "...No reason."

Jaune: See, i asked him that but he told me that since Atlas will use him to make... Well, Atlas floats, it would ask too much power from him to create a complete mansion at the same time. So instead i will build the house and i'll ask him for electricity when we are finished.

Penny: May i help you?

Jaune: You really thought i was going to work on this alone? Of course you will help me! Oh i'm so excited! It's like building my own treehouse but bigger and better!

Penny: *smiling* Glad you found something to occupy ourselves with. *Taking a saw* Let's do this love. *Kiss him*

And thus began the first "adventure" of Jaune and Penny in the ever after.

Nora: *Worry* You're leaving?!

Jaune: I just need some time to adjust to this world again. I'll be back soon.

Nora: But what about us! Our team!

Ruby: *walks in* What's going on here?

Nora: Jaune wants to leave us!

Ruby: What?!

Jaune: I'm not leaving permanently. I'll be back, I promise.

Ruby: *Looks at him in thought*

As he walks into the hallway he sees Ren and Oscar leaning against the wall.

Jaune: I assume you guys heard what happened.

Ren: *Nods*

Oscar: Please take this with you.

he gives Jaune a polaroid with all his friends.

Oscar: Just in case you feel lonely.

Jaune: *Smiles* Thank you.

Ren: I'm sorry Jaune.

Jaune: Sorry for what?

Ren: I don't know, for everything.

Jaune: I see, well don't worry about.

Ren: Be safe.

Jaune leaves the two behind and walks towards the exit. Once outside he walks north. After a few moments he stops in the middle of the road.

Jaune: You know, I planned this trip with the idea of being alone.

Emerald: *Using her semblance she appeared near him with a backpack* How did you know I was following you?

Jaune: When you have a murderous monster hunting you, you learn a thing or two in the Ever After.

Emerald: Jeez dude, good way to light up the mood.

Jaune: Well, why don't you go back to the others?

Emerald: You're not my boss.

Emerald: And I know that you need someone to watch your back.

The Ever After once had a grand protector in the form of the Rusted Knight. A figure that inspired as though they were a storybook figure. A man who stood tall to defend those in need, who guided the young Alyx across the mad, mad world.

But life is often more cruel than those old stories. The Knight could not protect everyone. Could not live forever. During a flood among the Paper Pleasers, the Knight was caught in the wash and was lost to the Ever After.

ppl hate crowleaf for the wrong reasons i personally think it’s great for what it is: an unhealthy relationship leafpool felt pressured into bc it was a way for her to get away from a life she was unhappy with and a future she was nervous about. and then it doesn’t work out because she can’t give crowfeather the level of devotion he expects from her and in the end she doesn’t win because there was no way for her to win. like that’s the tragedy of it. unhappy in the clans and unhappy away from them. and she still gets punished for it for the rest of her life for daring to go against what was expected of her. is the relationship healthy or good for leafpool? no. was it important to the plot and did it raise interesting questions about leafpool’s life and how she was always going to have a life of misery no matter what she did or how hard she tried? yes

I got the idea for this when I accidentally stumbled across this song while searching for a different one.

If an important moment where later in the arc, where Starline realizes the respect he’s held for Rivet runs deeper than he originally thought.

Throughout their time and interactions together during the completion, Rivet and Starline grow rather close.

At first, he isn’t keen on her dragging him out of the lab and encouraging him to do things outside of his comfort zone, but over time as she helps him loosen up a bit, she becomes the only one he allows to get away with it.

Against all odds, he finds himself growing to enjoy and respect her company as much as she respects his. She enjoys encouraging him, doesn’t mind listening to his ramblings, and they work well together, since despite her roots, she has a fairly decent grip on robotics.

This particular outing happens a a few days before the competition’s end. They both end up in the town library for some downtime, and a song Rivet loves happens to start playing on the radio. Naturally, she starts to dance to it, inviting Starline to join her. He refuses at first, but after watching her have fun for a bit, he rolls his eyes when she beckons again, and lets her pull him out of his seat with a smile.

The two end up waltzing and twirling around the room, getting more and more into the moment and laughing as they get lost in the song. But it all comes to a sudden head when Starline spins and dips her bridal style.

The whole world shows to a stop, and they both slowly realize just how close they are. The weight of this position, how intimate it is for him to be holding her like this…

And just how beautiful the other looks in the glowing light of the fireplace.

It’s the moment where Starline realizes, he really has fallen for this cat.

And it’s a beautiful, yet tragic moment for him, as he realizes he can’t bring himself to commit. Not as long as his sights are set on his goal. Not as long as he’s lying to all of them.

Rivet can sense his hesitation, and despite her own wishes, she doesn’t want to push him into something he’s not comfortable with. So they end the dance, and Rivet soothes over his frazzled nerves before they get back to what they were doing.

Sadly, neither of them get much else done that day.
