THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS PART ONE: CINEMATIC WRONGS AND ANALYSIS COMMENTARY
DO NOT REBLOG.
This is going to be a bullet point list of incidents that occur in the movie, and will either have my general commentary or an analysis of what makes the scene terrible (or in some rare cases, good). TRIGGERS FOR SUICIDE, MENTAL HEALTH, AND DYSMORPHIA
-bruce trying to kill himself in the beginning of the movie.
Hes reckless, and willing to risk his life, but not suicidal. But he just purposefully gets into a wreck at 2 minutes into the movie?? for no reason??? theres literally no reason for it other than it being angsty bc they COULDVE started the movie with the mutants doing crime, as the next scene cuts right into it and the following news reports
-"This reporter hopes that wherever he is, hes enjoying a toast with good friends" said when its the anniversary of batman’s disappearance
this is stupid I hate this movie. You're telling me Gotham forgives Batman for just disappearing on them? DID THAT NOT HAPPEN IN NML AND EVERYONE GOT PISSED??? Like everyone in this movie seems to have forgot he abandoned the city. Not to mention, and I'm gonna go off on a tangent here, bruce will be batman for as long as he lives. He calls himself batman in his mind even when hes retired. He believes that Bruce wayne is the mask. His whole identity is batman. Saying that hed quit because of jason is not only stupid because it implies Jason's death isnt just as important as his parents, but shows that any tragedy is enough to permanently knock him down. And as if the league, or the family, would have let him give up. Anyway the whole reason the retirement in batman beyond works is because it shows bruce was going to fight until he literally died on the spot, but instead he pointed a gun, didn't even use it, just pointed it, and he realized he wasnt fit to HONOR batman anymore. He broke the rule. And he doesnt deserve to wear the mantle. This is so good because 1) bruce still wants to be batman and 2) it doesnt imply that he gave up at all, and at this point with his decreasing wellness his family WOULD be telling him to stop
-Gordon toasts with Bruce on the anniversary
FBKSBSOANSISSB OH MY GOD IT JUST SHOWED HIM SHARING A TOAST WITH GORDON. this is the anniversary of the last time batman is sighted and gordon. JIM FUCKING GORDON. Is celebrating. When they were literally partners and hed shine the batsignal each night TELL ME WHERE THE LOGIC IS!!! I CANT FIND THE LOGIC!!!!! I'm literally 3 minutes into this movie..... and already this is how its going...
-Gordon and Bruce talk
"You're not worried about me, are you?" Asked when hes in clear danger of being attacked by mutants "noT MorE tHAn i aM tHe ReST oF tHis CItY" ah yes. I forgot that Bruce hated gotham and jim Gordon. My mistake. Common misconception.
-the mutants are introduced
Ugh and it's the worst kind of villains too, jim just described the mutants as "the worst kind of criminals. They are only after violence, with no humanity at all" GIVE! VILLAINS! REASONING! I hate these joker wannabes Joker was already enough we dont need a million more "lol I'm just evil deal with it" villains
"Talk to Dick lately?"asks Gordon "You know I havent" Bruce responds
THIS CONVERSATION IS GETTING W O R S E BC I KNOW HOW THIS MOVIE GOES AND HE JUST INSTANTLY HAS CARRIE BE THE NEW ROBIN- WHICH, IS N O T BRUCE'S TO GIVE. ITS ALWAYS BEEN DICK'S MANTLE TO PASS DOWN- WHEN HE HASNT BEEN SPEAKING TO DICK????
-tangent on how it’s overlooked that Dick Grayson was the one to make Robin, not Batman
This is a sin that not just the movie, but the batman franchise in general seems to always make. Robin was made as a tribute to the flying graysons, and is meant to be colorful and aerodynamic for acrobatic tricks. it should always be dick’s to pass down, or the next robin after.
-Bruce begins having trouble with holding back his urge to be Batman
His whole wanting to be batman again thing started because of a newspaper with a family's death and pearls being sold. On the same front cover. I'm. THATS WHEN HE REMEMBERS HIS PARENTS? NOT EVERY FUCKING TIME HE HEARS A GUNSHOT? OR CLOSES HIS EYES? OR SEES BLOOD? HE READS A NEWSPAPER THATS FLOATING IN THE WIND??????NOT EVERY TIME HE LOOKS AT JASONS COSTUME? OR THE OTHER CRIMES COMMITTED??????LOGIC!!!!!!!!!! I NEED !!!! TO KNOW!!!!! WHERE IT IS!!!!!!!! ARE U KIDDING ME NOW THE MARK OF ZORRO, WHICH IS WHO THE FUCK KNOWS HOW OLD NOW, IS ON TV??????????? AND HE JUST HAPPENS TO FLIP TO THE CHANNEL.. Batman telling bruce "you've tried to hold me back. But you're weak. Ypu know it in your soul. You're nothing but a hollow shell." Is so STUPID!! WHY HAS HE BEEN FIGHTING BEING BATMAN!!!!!!!!!! BRUCE SHOULD WANT TO BE BATMAN!!!! AND HATE HAVING TO NOT BE!!!! AND A BAT FLYING INTO HIS WINDOW AGAIN???? STOP THE FUCKING CLICHES IM SICK OF THIS . UR NOT BEING NEXT LEVEL, MOVIE. ITS JUST DUMB. ITS DUMB!!!
-Carrie Kelly
her first ??? Appearance??? Is her going into KNOWN MUTANT GANG TERRITORY instead of going through the rain. And scolding her friend for not having backbone WHEN THEY COULD LITERALLY DIE and saying, and I quote, "its better than out there." then when interviewed about the incident her friend says  "It was a flying monster! With wings and fangs!" and she replies with "Reality check, Michelle, it was definitely a man, but he had to be like 12 feet tall" OH YEAH THATS VERY REALISTIC CARRIE. Shes an asshole to her friend and we're supposed to like her.  Oh and Carrie's reason for wanting to be robin? She saw the bat signal while her parents were talking about public marches. That's it. That's her reason. Not because she was attacked by mutants and almost died.
-Giving the movie credit
Okay but if theres another thing I'll give credit for, and I'm sure its unintentional, is that Harvey is the first criminal he wants to take down. Because Harvey is always going to be Bruce's priority. He didnt go after the mutants, but Two-Face. And the way that confrontation goes when it’s revealed harvey thinks both sides of his face are scarred. the Arkham staff fixed his scars before he was ready for treatment, and his mental health wasn’t priority. he was going to have dysmorphia either way, but not treating mental illness worsened it.  kinda? good writing? But I think it was unintentional to have the idea that Arkham didnt know what they were doing and the belief that scars are important before trauma, and how trauma has to be helped first. I dont believe for an instant that's what's meant.
-Carrie Kelly part two
She gets a Robin costume and goes out onto the roof and is like.... almost dies. THEN THE NEXT SCENE WE SEE HER SHES LIKE COMPLETELY ACROBATIC? WHY IS SHE SO ACROBATIC NOW!!! THIS TAKES PRACTICE!!!
-Batman confronting the man who supplied the mutant gang with guns
Oh, this scene...He hands a guy a gun, knowing full well that he was depressed because his wife was dying and he had to make more money to save her by supplying the mutants with weapons, and just walks away as he kills himself. (input from a friend which i like:  think about everything bruce did to help mr freeze and his wife now think about this scene )
Batman vs Mutants
oh, and the "batmobile". Aka his tank. Rubber bullets. Ok fine, whatever, but RUNNING THEM OVER AND SHOOTING MISSCLES ISNT LETHAL? AND HOW IS CARRIE KELLY GOOD AT FIGHTING ALL OF THEM WHEN SHE COULDNT HANDLE HERSELF WITH ONE LIKE A WEEK AGO.  hate that the mutant leader is just a ripoff of bane with long pointed nipples I hate this. I hate that batman cant take him down, but carrie kelly can. AND THE MUTANT LEADRER TOTALLY DIED WHEN BRUCE THREW ADHESIVE ON HIS FACE AND HE WAS SUFFOCATED BUT LATER ON IT SHOWS HE LIVES ??
Bruce talks to Carrie
"What is this thing?" -carrie "Dick called it the batmobile" -bruce "SIR!!" -alfred over the radio There are no words. Then she pops his arm into place and creates a makeshift cast And he says "where'd you learn to do that?” and because she’s a mary sue she says nothing, because miller doesnt know why she should, so he cuts to "what's your name?" and she says "Carrie. Carrie Kelly. robin" and HE FUCKING GOES "MINES BRUCE." and then immediately tells Alfred hes bringing "robin" to the cave. I hate it here I hate that he forgets what happened to Jason aFTER ITS HIS LITERAL REASON FOR QUITTING. WHAT IS THE POINT IF HE’S GOING TO ACCEPT THIS GIRL HE DOESNT EVEN KNOW AS ROBIN?
-Bruce talks about Jason
OH BRUCE'S FUCKING LINE. HIS LINE. IM FURIOUS Alfred asks "have you forgotten what happened to Jason?" And he says "I'll never forget. he was a good soldier. He honored me" I AM !!!! SHAKING!!!! WITH HOW MAD !!!! I AM!!! Bruce would NOT say that shit. Implying that jason wasnt his son, or that jason was only a casualty in a war, or that HE FUCKING HONORED HIM AND NOT THE CITY, OR THE TITLE OF ROBIN "He honored me" shut the fuck up I hate this and dont even get me started on the misconceptions of Robin in the first place. i dont want to go into the debate on whether or not they’re soldiers, which I personally don’t believe. but its just stupid because Jason considered being Robin the best thing that’s ever happened to him, and he was THE BEST. it wasnt his fault he was killed, either.
-The ending
So the mutant escapes his cell by going through a VENT. A . V E N T. AND ENDS UP IN THE SEWER. I hate that these mutants are just an army of evil people and have no motivation and the leader is just a brute I fucking hate Bruce calling him "son" And the mutants become the sons of batman who fight crime......??? because their leader is gone?? werent they supposed to be evil criminals with no humanity in them?
-Joker
Okay but Joker being absent the entire first part , only to show up in the end hearing news reports about batman, and then smiling as he stands up and just fucking creepily says "darling" holy shit that gave me goosebumps. another credit i have to give.

Walking The Wire (109/?)
Summary: Tony Stark always knew about Peter Parker. He didn’t know that Peter was going to get superpowers and become Spider-Man, but he always knew about Peter because Peter was his son.
This will span from pre-Iron Man up through the rest of the MCU (eventually including Infinity War) and will be for the most part canon compliant except where I’ve taken some liberties and interpreted canon a certain way.
Pairings: Pepper/Tony, Tony/Steve (endgame), Tony/Mary (past)
A/N: If you want me to tag you when I post new chapters let me know. This fic is also on AO3
I used Collider’s MCU timeline to stay canon and the title of this fic is an Imagine Dragons song that is just so fitting for Peter and Tony

Chapter One Hundred Eight
2018
Ben & Jerry’s came out with a whole bunch of new flavors that were Avengers inspired. Peter found out when Ned texted him and MJ about it in a group text. Later, when he got home from school, he found out that not only were there new flavors, but that Ben & Jerry had gone ahead and sent them at the tower a few pints of each of the new flavors.
“This is amazing,” Peter said when he peered into the freezer. “Did you know this was happening?”
“Despite your metabolism, I don’t expect that eating all of it at once would be wise,” his dad said. “And no, I didn’t.”
“How long do you think they’ve been working on this?” Sam asked. He was leaning against one of the counters and already digging into a pint box of the A Hunka-Hulka-Burning Fudge. “Don’t they take years creating flavors?”
“Not sure. Don’t care,” Tony said and reached into the freezer to pull out Cap-ilicious Triple Berry.  “All I know is that apparently I’m not off dairy and that this is delicious.”
“I would have thought they’d do a more patriotic look to Cap’s ice cream,” Sam said.
Peter reached blindly for one of the containers so he wouldn’t have to make a choice and he saw his dad shrug as he took a bite of the Cap inspired ice cream. Peter had wound up with Stark Raving Hazelnuts which really was not all bad. It was certainly a nice thing to come home to. He took another bite and then took a picture of the ice cream to send to Ned.
“You know, I’m really glad we got a wedding planner,” Tony said as he looked through a few cake design options.
Steve who was in the middle of painting something laughed. “You mean, you’re glad Pepper got us a wedding planner even though this whole thing was supposed to be a small thing because Peter despite his excitement is still just a teenage boy that knows next to nothing about weddings.”
Tony shrugged. “Sure, what you said. But I’m still glad. Anyway, people like parties. And at this rate we just really have to make a few choices and then just show up. We can even leave early if you really want. What are you painting anyway?”
“The view,” Steve said and sure enough he was. Everything outside the window had been transferred to the canvas. It wasn’t exact -- more of an abstract, but that didn’t make it any less beautiful. Tony had never really understood art or even bothered to like it -- but that didn’t mean he didn’t appreciate everything that Steve created.
His art room had filled up with more and more art since Steve had finally focused on his hobby. He wasn’t obsessive, but he spent hours painting away or sketching. It kept him entertained and Tony was happy about it. He liked that Steve had something to do that was all his own. Tony also loved watching him do it -- the concentration that he put into his art was unlike anything else. In another lifetime, it was possible that Steve would have just become some artist that everyone admired.
Tony got up. “I’ll leave you to it. I have a bit of work to finish up in the lab.”
Steve nodded. Tony pressed a kiss to his temple and walked out of the room. He found Sam and Wanda watching some odd cartoon and then spotted Vision in the kitchen.
“Hey, Viz.”
Vision and Wanda spent a lot of time on their own on their floor but it wasn’t odd to find them up in the penthouse some days. What Tony found weird about it was that Vision seemed to be more and more human-like these days. He had started dressing like a regular person a long time ago but now he seemed to not mind changing his appearance to look human. It was a little strange.
“A letter arrived for you,” Vision said.
“That’s odd,” Tony said. “We usually don’t get any mail sent up here.”
“It is possible someone brought it up and left it in the kitchen for you to find,” Vision said.
“Right,” Tony said but it all still sounded a bit odd.
Vision didn’t respond and he picked up the bowl of popcorn and went to join Wanda and Sam in the living room. The letter was in a manila envelope and Tony figured he’d take it with him, but his mind was already turning to the new designs he’d been working on. Natasha was already out of her house arrest unlike the rest of them and she’d been cleared to rejoin The Avengers officially. It also meant that she was free to do whatever Fury wanted from her and Tony wanted to give her the best gear to do that with.
The heater in the Spider-Man suit was one of the best things ever. It meant that Peter could actually patrol without feeling the brisk cold air. It had snowed a few days earlier and there was gray and dark dirty snow on the edges of most streets. Peter also found that most rooftops were covered and useless to him. But he was still out and about for a few hours.
But it turned out that when it was cold out that there wasn’t a lot of crime to go after. Not a lot of people were out unless they needed to be. Peter did save a woman from slipping on ice.
“Anything going on, Karen? I’m kind of getting bored.”
“Not that I can tell,” Karen said.
“I should have just gone and trained with Steve. I guess it’s a good thing, right, that nothing is happening.”
“I believe so, Peter.”
He swung off of a fire escape and headed towards the tower. Maybe he’d just go and actually work on his homework. There was an essay due in a few days that he should get on top of. His junior year of high school had brought along a ton more work and college was a thing that everyone was starting to get worried about. Tony liked to mention MIT in passing all the time and then May brought it up in her own way too, always hinting at how Peter would need to give up Spider-Man for it and Peter just -- he didn’t want to think about that.
He got back to the tower to find Natasha was back from a mission and sitting in the living room with Sam, Steve, Wanda, and Vision.
“Hey, Peter,” Natasha said. She had a split lip and yet she still smiled at him.
“We left you food in the kitchen,” Steve said. “We also left food for Tony if you want to bring some to him.”
“Cool. Thanks. I will.”
Food turned out to be sub sandwiches so after getting back into his normal clothes, Peter just grabbed both and went to the workshop. He was expecting to find Tony working, but instead his dad was looking at paperwork.
“Hungry?” Peter asked.
His dad turned to look at him. “Oh, you’re home. I -- I must have lost track of time.”
“What are you working on?” Peter asked.
“Nothing. Nothing. Just something that got in the mail today got me a bit distracted.” He waved his hand and the display disappeared. “Anyway, food. How was school today? Patrol?”
“Same. Not much going on.”
Tony nodded. He was oddly distracted. It made Peter worry a little. His dad only tended to get weird when something was happening.
“Did I ever tell you that I can’t actually have kids,” Tony said after they’d sat in silence eating for a while.
“No,” Peter said, not sure where the conversation was going. “I mean, maybe. I kind of think I knew that already.”
Tony nodded. “I -- it was to do with the arc reactor. Anyway, there was a time when I didn’t think that I would ever meet you or that it would make a difference because you were growing so fast and I never needed my parents when I was your age -- well, I probably did but I didn’t really have them. I guess that’s what makes more sense.”
“What are you getting at?” Peter asked. He was so confused.
Tony sighed and he wiped his mouth with a napkin and then he got up and grabbed a few sheets of paper. “A while back I applied to adopt. Sort of on a whim. Sort of because I really wanted to be a dad since at the time I couldn’t really be yours. I thought I’d never get to meet you. It takes time to adopt and I had forgotten about it just because of everything that happened. Actually -- I don’t remember if I told Steve about it. Thing is, nothing came of it and then I met you.”
Peter remembered a conversation about his dad possibly wanting other kids and how much Peter just -- he didn’t know how to feel about it. He hadn’t really let himself think about any of it especially since Tony had said he wasn’t sure if anything might happen.
“But why are you -- what’s that paper?” Peter motioned to the papers that Tony was holding.
“They want to know if I’m still interested,” Tony said.
“Oh,” Peter said.
Tony let out a breath. “I don’t think this is the right time,” Tony said. “Not for any of us.”
“Oh,” Peter said again and it was as if he didn’t know how to say anything else. He just -- he didn’t know if his dad wanted his opinion or if he was just telling Peter about it to tell him. Peter was also quite sure that he didn’t know how to feel.
It was getting closer to the end of the school year when a school trip was announced and Peter was dismayed to hear that it was a tour of SI. MJ cackled and laughed for a solid minute once she found out and just wouldn’t let it go all throughout lunch and then later when they were walking out of Midtown. Ned on the other hand seemed as excited as everyone else. The trip wasn’t for another few weeks, but Peter was already dreading it. He just knew that it wasn’t going to go well. He had kept the fact that he was living at the tower a secret from everyone including Ned and Michelle for over a year and this was going to be thing that finally revealed that to them -- he could just feel it.
“Aha, so we finally get to find out that Penis Parker has been lying about that internship all this time,” Flash said when he walked past them.
Peter rolled his eyes.
“Or prove Flash wrong,” Ned said. “This is actually really awesome. Do you think any of the Avengers will show up?”
Peter shook his head. “It’s not a trip to the living floors. Just the labs and SI. They don’t usually go down there.”
“But wouldn’t it be awesome if Flash saw you talking to them and they ignored him.”
Peter settled him with a look. “That’s not going to happen, Ned.”
When he got back home, he almost hesitated to mention the whole thing. He was going to have to get May to sign the permission slip since she was still his guardian, but if Peter was going to go -- and he really couldn’t not without giving ammunition to Flash to make fun of him with -- he was going to have to make sure that he did appear to be an intern at SI. Peter couldn’t remember the last time he had gone down to those floors of the building. He assumed that the trip was going to be geared towards the R&D rooms. Maybe he could get Pepper to help him out with making his story seem legitimate.
He ran into Steve as he was getting out of the elevator.
“Hey, Peter,” Steve said. “Not patrolling today?”
“I might go out later,” Peter said and followed Steve to the kitchen where Sam was in the middle of taking cookies out of the oven.
“Well we were planning on a movie if you want to join,” Sam said.
“Yeah, I will,” Peter said. It offered for the perfect distraction. He would figure out what he was going to do about the trip later.

Plenty of Practice
Plot: Peter finds out that you’ve been bullied behind his back and he patches you up.
A/N: I hope this is alright, Anon.
Warnings: Reader is physically and emotionally bullied, reader is beat up
Word Count Total: 1615
Long Imagine #15
Title: Plenty of Practice
Tumblr media
High school was tough for almost everyone. Puberty, cliques, the whole dating shebang. But for you, things were worse. You weren’t friends with many people and your mixed heritage made it worse.
It also didn’t help that your parents were poor and you had been bullied by the same three boys for six years.
Because the school district didn’t want to get involved further than “talking” to the boys, they continued to bully you and you knew if you defended yourself, you would be the one in trouble. So you sported the bruises and sleepless nights every day. You also had to do their homework because you were one of the highest scoring students in your grade level. It put you in a bad position and on an early path to caffeine addiction.
You hid everything from your friends Peter, MJ, and Ned. They didn’t need to know. There wasn’t anything they could do. If authority figures weren’t doing anything, what could teenagers do?
“Wake up, Y/N,” Michelle said, shaking your shoulder. You swallowed a pained response, managing to get it to sound like a tired grunt. You hadn’t actually been asleep, but you had been dangerously close to dozing.
“I’m awake, MJ. Don’t worry about me.”
“Oh, I wasn’t worrying. I know you well enough that you’ll pack enough worry for a battalion. I just figured you wanted to be ready for the decathlon meeting.”
“Thank you. I appreciate it.” You sat up as much as you could without any bruises bothering you, but it was next to impossible. It had been a stupid idea to try to tell the bullies you didn’t want to do this anymore. They had stopped just short of sending you to the hospital and hadn’t broken anything in your face. It was hard to hide a bruise when it was hard to find the right shade of makeup for your skin tone.
You made it through the rest of your day at school without any incident at all.
You were almost home when you were stopped. It was your bullies.
“So, when am I gonna get that homework in hand, Y/N?”
“I want mine by tomorrow afternoon.”
“How about I just take yours,” said the third.
You gulped a breath and stood as tall as you could. “It’ll be done soon, all of it.”
“Good. You can deliver it in person, too.”
You went to walk away and one of them grabbed you by your jacket.
“Changed my mind, just hand over everything now.”
You pulled your jacket away and turned back around to face them. This would have to happen sooner or later, so it wouldn’t make any difference in pain if it was now or later. “No.”
The leader laughed. “Excuse me? Did we hear you wrong?”
You shook your head and clenched your fists. “I-I’m not doing this anymore.”
“I think you’re mistaken. You’re going to continue, or else we’re going to show you what happens when you disrespect your superiors.”
“I’m not doing this anymore.” Your back was near the alley wall.
The guys looked at each other, then leapt at the same time toward you. You ducked, having prepared for the initial attack.
But they beat you. Later down the road, you would remember being attacked, but not what they did. You wouldn’t remember how long it was or if you lost consciousness at one point.
What happened next, you would remember for as long as you were alive.
Somewhere down the line, one of the boys got ahold of a metal pipe. It was swung toward your head, but a spiderweb caught it. It wasn’t a regular web, it was like a white rope. You heard the metallic thwing as it hit the pipe and looked with your good eye to where it led. The boys did, too. A red-masked figure dropped down from the shadows of the buildings higher up. With the webbing loose, the wielder of the metal tried to strike again.
Spider-Man caught the pipe mid-swing. “It’s not nice to hit people.” He ripped the pipe away from one of the assailants and threw it into the garbage bin.
“But maybe,” Spider-Man stopped a punch aimed his way with one hand and punched with his other hand, “I should make three exceptions. One for each of you boys!”
You wondered if your ears were beyond repair because the masked figure’s voice was distorted
He was on the defensive for the most part, but the boys didn’t get the hint and he finally went full offense, ending with all three webbed to the wall.
“Are you okay?” Spider-Man knelt beside you. The only sound other than his breathing beside you were the boys’ muffled complaints. You opened your eyes to see your protector and turned up one corner of your mouth.
“Thank you,” you said hoarsely. You went to sit up and he helped you. You went to stand to leave and he put the kabosh on that.
“I’m carrying you to your home.”
“No! I can’t let my parents know that this happened!” you blurted, your head throbbing with every word and tears stinging your eyes.
“Where are you going to go?”
“I don’t know.”
“Do you have a friend who could help you?”
You shook your head.
He cleared his throat, then said, “I know Peter Parker and I know you two are friends. You couldn’t even go to him?”
“I don’t want anyone to know that I have trouble taking care of myself.”
“I need to make sure you have somewhere to go.”
You sighed. “Peter’s it is.”
He gingerly picked you up, your backpack on his back and you in his arms.
“You’re not going to swing, are you?”
“Not while you’re injured.”
So he carried you all the way to Peter’s. While it was only three city blocks, it felt a lot longer, whether it was due to the pain of your injuries or because for the first time in a long time you felt safe, you weren’t sure. But something about this superhero made you feel safe, and it wasn’t because he had saved you.
He took you up the fire escape as carefully as he could and you were too tired to ask why he didn’t just ask Peter to buzz you both in. He popped open a window and sat you on a bed – Peter’s bed.
“Hold on, I’ll go get Peter.”
“Thank you,” you whispered.
“Just being your friendly, neighborhood Spider-Man.” He disappeared out the door and into the hallway. You laid down on the bed and Peter and May came rushing in. when you saw May, you begged her not to tell your parents. You weren’t ready for that. She agreed and Peter took to patching you up. His brow was furrowed and he was chewing on his lower lip.
“Y/N, I need you to sit up and open your eyes as much as you can.”
With great pain, you did. He shined a flashlight by and you kept your bruised eye pried open with great effort.
“Nausea?”
“No,” you whispered.
“You don’t seem to have a concussion,” he said mostly to himself. “I’ll get you patched up as best as I can.”
“Okay.”
“You might still need to go to the hospital.”
“We can’t afford it.”
“Y/N -”
“Please Peter. I can’t afford a trip to the hospital.”
“At least think about going to the police.”
You sighed, an action that pained your bruised ribs. You had been curled up, back to the wall, when you were on the ground and had narrowly missed a break in your ribs. Your hands were a different story. He gave you pain meds, but they did little to dull the pain.
As he worked, you tried to pay attention, but you felt so defeated that you gave up.
“How do you know how to do all of this?” You glanced down at the arm he was bandaging.
He hmed to himself before answering with the hint of a smile. “I’ve had plenty of practice.”
Your stomach twisted for a moment. “What do you mean ‘plenty of practice’?”
He froze, realizing what slipped out of his mouth. “Oh, uh, just first aid classes.”
You eyed him skeptically for a moment before accepting the answer. “Those must have been very good classes.”
“Oh, yeah. Very insightful.”
Once he was done to the best of his ability, you reached for the water May had brought in. Peter rushed to help you with it and you got some down before pushing it away.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.”
“You’ve done so much for me, I’d hate to ask you one more thing.”
“Anything.”
“Would you come to the police station with me?”
“Yes.”
“Can we go in the morning? I’m not sure I can go right now.”
“Yes.”
So at Peter’s you stayed. It wasn’t unusual for you and Peter to hang out for a long time, so you let your parents know you were staying at Peter’s – not that they would get it right away with their shifts.
Peter and May kept an eye on you, letting you rest, but checking up every so often that there were no other signs of a concussion. In the morning, Peter took you to the nearest station where you made your report, and with the promise that they were going to look into it, you let Peter take you home. Your parents weren’t there and Peter offered to stay with you. You declined and when he protested, you gave in. You were lucky to have a friend like Peter. You weren’t sure you would have made it without him.

Was all Peter heard in his mind . The constant sound of the cap of his pen hitting his notebook. His mind was too busy occupied with worrying for Michelle , his girlfriend . She’d been ignoring him for almost two weeks now , and it was affecting him greatly . His thoughts were always now clouded with her smile , her laugh , her snarky smart-ass attitude that he missed so much . Now , it was even interfering with his Spider-Man life , even if he’d get his mind under control , she always nagged him in the back of the head . Distracting Peter during his fights , was something that was unexpected and alarming . But , right now , in his English class , he was putting on the best optimistic attitude and not check the clock every 5 seconds .
he was thankful it was his last class of the day
Michelle didn’t know what to do with herself , she felt like she was tearing her mind apart . She was leaning against the door of the girls’ bathroom trying to stay calm , before she actually went insane . For the first time ever , she had skipped class . It was consuming every ounce in her body , not to run up to peter and explain how she was feeling . But she couldn’t , being the awkward shell of a girl , she’d always been , it scared Michelle into the introvert she grew up being . If you give her a political topic and a mic , she would go on for hours about the many reasons of her passionate thoughts . But emotions , simply weren’t her thing at all . Gosh , it took her a week after Peter first kissed her , to finally admit her feelings to him . That was just awkward for the both of them if she was being honest .
Liz Allen was coming back into town , after a year of being in Oregon . Michelle walked to the sink , and just set her hands on the counter and examined herself. Michelle thought back to the times where she actually talked to Liz , and began comparing herself to the older girl . Which she’d never done before .
Liz had such beautiful dark straight hair , that just shined in the light , it was the perfect length , past her shoulders and all . Also , that pearly-white smile that most girls probably envied everytime she opened her mouth . She was so nice and caring to everyone she met...
But Michelle stopped herself , she shut her eyes harshly , trying to stop the comparisons that were flooding through her mind at a record speed . Michelle hated the fact that she was letting herself think all of this , she knew how smart she was . She wasn’t the ugliest person in the room , either . But , Peter liked Liz before her .
She remembers the puppy eyes that would follow the every move of Liz Allen . All coming from Peter Parker . Hell , he was probably in love with her . Michelle opened her eyes , noticing the dampness on her face from multiple tears falling down her face . She wasnt going to allow herself to cry in school , Michelle felt the world around her ultimately fall apart in front of her eyes . So , she gathered whatever strength she had left , as she relied on physical strength over the emotional drainage she’d been going through alone .
But the irony in her life , only got stronger as the bell rang , the minute she set her hand on the knob . “fuck” mumbled Michelle . Now , she would have to walk through the sea of tired teenagers and get home without drawing any attention to herself . She hoped that Ned could keep Peter occupied for a couple more minutes after his Chemistry class . Peter always waits for him after that class , that was her “after last class” routine with the boy . She was able to calm herself down fully , and wiped any tears off her face with the back of her hoodie sleeve. Michelle decided to mumble words of encouragement to herself , she hated to admit it . But in times like these , she was a changed person . A vulnerable , self cautious , insecure teen 17 year old girl . She despised it .
Once she heard the rustling of the kids calm down a bit , she stepped out of the bathroom and began the walk to her locker . Luckily , she reached it without a problem and sighed to herself . Her heart felt like it dropped a couple feet , because of the absence of Peter . It was really all her fault , for pushing him away so suddenly , she felt stupid and childish for her actions.
She regretted opening her locker because a photo of Peter and her was still hanging on the bottom left corner of her locker . Michelle didnt know when it started , but she felt the tears stream down her face in a quiet sob . She tried taking deep breaths to stop herself , which only worked for a few seconds . She grabbed the photo , through blurry eyes , she could still see their smiles printed on the paper . She bit her lip , to choke back a sob from escaping her dry mouth and looked at Peter’s face only once more and threw it in the back of her small locker . She grabbed her backpack that was hanging from the door , and shoved a couple more books and pencils in it . But she couldn’t stop crying , it was insane to Michelle , why she couldnt just say how she initially feels about people , or about certain events . She accepted the fact that she was odd a long time ago , but it was all catching up to her now .
She was about to wipe another tear from her face for the millionth time , it felt like , when she heard someone next to her . She didn’t even dare to look , because if it was who , she thought it was , she would just collapse in his arms.
“Are you alright?” the voice asks , and she knew her suspicions were correct , like they always were. She nods her head , hiding half of her face in her locker. She managed to croak out a simple “im doing just fine , Peter”. Her hands held onto the locker door for just any type of support , she needed it .
“MJ, close the locker...don’t hide from me anymore.” It was a first for Michelle for him to sound so serious about her . Well , that’s what she gets for avoiding her boyfriend for two weeks. Then . she realized how much she was aching to talk to him about her emotional state , and she knew how much of a great listener he was . With shaky hands , she closed her locker , and turned to face Peter. She set her hands at her sides , so he could look at her tear stained face .
Peter felt like absolute shit , just seeing Michelle with her legs crossed in front of the other , looking almost afraid of looking him in the eyes , was making him feel a certain way he wasnt used to . It broke him inside , he noticed her red face almost instantly . She still had tears barely , passing her cheeks . She looked broken , confused , and just helpless , As a boyfriend , he felt horrible . As a friend , he felt responsible , and as Spider-Man , he wanted to fight someone just to get rid of those feelings .
Michelle hadn’t looked eyes with Peter , for nearly a minute and she had already wanted to leave . She felt ashamed in a way , for making herself feel like this and had not wanted any help . “im sorry , that iv’e been avoiding you . Peter..” Michelle says softly , great! from experience she knew to start slowly with the confessions and ease her emotions into the conversation , she knew that Peter would have endless questions about .
Michelle was swaying from her left to her right foot , wanting Peter to answer quicker . “ i could care less about that right now.. i mean- of course i want to know why you put me through this emotional distress , but you crying in front of me , isn’t making me feel good” The next thing she knew , she ran into Peter’s arms and just wanted to stay there forever . Peter immediately hugged back and wrapped both arms tightly around the girl , feeling relieved of finally touching her. He stroked her hair softly , cooing in her left ear , wanting her to stop crying in his arms , he would do anything . Michelle was just so overcome with all possible emotions , and she needed a hug from one of the most important people in her life , and she finally accepted it .
“ baby , stop crying.. im here now! tell me what’s wrong , just talk to me , i miss hearing that beautiful voice of your’s” Peter , was content with her in his arms but the answers he wanted , weren’t being said and it confused him .
“ Liz is coming back to town..”he hears her whisper to him , so faintly that he asks her to repeat it again . But , that only causes her to pull away from him , and stand back .
In a more clear voice she says , “Liz is coming back to town , Peter”
Peter almost felt the need to shrug because of the mention of his old crush , almost two years ago now . “what’s the big deal?’ Peter says , watching her expressions change . “the big deal is that , i cant compete with someone like her”
Peter was taken back by her choice of words , and did in fact , step backwards to show emphasis . His MIchelle...was intimidated by Liz? He shook his head and replied “ woah! who said anything about liz , and why are you saying you cant compete with her.... Michelle sighs and says “ Peter , you were in love with the girl.. i watched as you fell for her , you dont know if old feelings will come back. I may not read teen romance novels , but feelings that never get buried , never die”
