. . .
Someone asked me a weird question, and I'm not sure I can give a straight answer but... based on what little I understand:
The Nintendo Wii version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core is based on the original PlayStation 2 port of the game.
The Nintendo Switch version of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R is "supposedly" based on the Arcade version of Plus R.
I don't have the precise details on this, so I can't confirm it or not.
All I can say is that the Steam version/PC version of Accent Core Plus R is probably the closest to the Arcade version, even compared to the XBox360 version.
This is largely why it might prove difficult to port Accent Core Plus R to the PlayStation 4/5 at this time... since the PlayStation 3 version of Accent Core Plus R is a "bad port" of the Arcade version... they would likely have to make a port of PlusR from Scratch for PS5 (if they ever decided to).
If anyone has more details on PlusR they could divulge to add to this post, I'd appreciate it... but so far, all I can really say is that Plus R itself is fundamentally an "arcade version" of Accent Core Plus (ACPlus was an "append" to the original PS2 port of the game, but later ported to Arcades in a completely different way).
It took nearly a year to "patch" to the PS3 version of Accent Core Plus to a semi-stable "Plus R" build... so that should give you some idea why the PC version is probably the most stable version in existence.
Prior to ACPlus on the PS2, was the unstable builds of Accent Core, which are famous for the I-No Fortissimo Crash bug, among other issues it had.
Prior to that was GGXX Slash and GG Isuka builds, which were based on Blue Reload, which was based on Red Reload which was based on the original "unpatched" Guilty Gear XX: The Midnight Carnival.
GGXX had several "Arcade Naomi ports" based on the games I just listed, but they aren't nearly as big a project as Plus R was to reverse-port.
Again, I have no idea if they will ever port this game to PS4 or PS5... but I have my doubts.
It's also why it's less likely to see a modern port of GGX1.5 or Guilty Gear X Plus on anything beyond Naomi/Atomiswave/PS2 console emulation.

Here's some info about the upcoming AiPri Switch game (to be released on December 5th, 2024) as written in the Amazon listing:
The control scheme has been 'rearranged' so that children can easily play the amusement game Himitsu no AiPri's "Live Game" from home. Four people can play at once, so you can enjoy it with your family or friends. The songs included are the following nine: P.O.P.P.Y, Secret Dream, Stand Get Up, Muteki DUO Energy, Hikari no Kotoba, We're the World, Never Give Up Lover, GIRA GIRA STAR, Zenryoku Joshikakumei! You can also enjoy the songs and the live visuals without playing the game (PV Mode).
And then there's a bunch of minigames/party games based on specific episodes.
I could be wrong, but from the wording, it sounds like those are the only nine songs in the game. It's not a lot, but they aren't gonna stuff it with arcade-only songs for once? That's a surprise.
It's also interesting that AiPri of all series is getting a console game, considering it translates the least well. By which I mean, card sliding is impossible, so the rhythm game is going to be completely different. (From the screenshots and the wording, it looks super simple.)
Anyway, I would recommend preordering this game if you really like AiPri and would enjoy spending time with the characters. I do not think it is going to be a good representation of/replacement for the arcade game and it definitely doesn't look like you'll be able to make your own character. But, like I said, if you really like the AiPri characters, go for it!
(I personally don't think it's worth paying full price for because I imagine this game is going to be dumped into the discount bin in a month.)
#himitsu no aipri#actually the fact that they can't make an accurate port might be the whole reason they did this#because they don't want to actually compete with the arcade game while it's still running you know#that's why they only released the pripara switch after the game initially ended#but like....#i would probably buy this anyway if it were prichan or primagi#just because i do like the characters and i would like to spend time with them#i do not really like the aipri characters...............#so i don't care...................................

all im gna say is a pretty series rhythm game would be huge. put pretty all friends to good use!! a unified art style so that every character could feature in every games songs and coords. and general rhythm game fans would absolutely bite w the sheer amount of songs
#yeah ill say it. aikatsu on parade shouldve been ported to consoles. but the fact that pretty series hasnt even done an arcade knockoff...#but yeah keeping new entries coming while also catering to old fans is a complete no brainer!!!!#i know its neverrrrr happening. takaratomy arts will never make a good decision. but man itd be glorious

on a different note. Clarice from city connection
replaced by some nameless guy in the nes port. Clarice u will live forever since nobody ever cared for the random guy . yaaaay
#astr.txt#its a cute little game. the plot is like she's driving around the world looking for the perfect boyfriend#but the nes port is like You robbed a paint store & u are leaking paint & the cops are after u ...!!!!!#No!! clarice is a teenage girl (too young to drive? speeding?) looking for love!#the best part is u can shoot oil cans at the cop cars and ram into them ♡ yay#The images are also respectively from arcade -> nes -> mobile (city connection rocket)

this one image of barry is so funny to me. what is he plotting. what is he up to. he looks like a villain about to go "well well well...." and do the spinny chair thing (except he just goes "wheeeeeee :D" and keeps spinning)
#barry steakfries#jetpack joyride#dan the man#dan the man art style my beloved <33333#i wanna edit the specific image of him into really stupid places#it could be like. a whole sideblog. except i would only have like 10 ideas for it then abandon it lmaoo#i cant play dtm classic at the moment so i have no idea what the context of this even is#i'm guessing it has something to do with the dtm game existing as a port barry made from an arcade game he loved back years ago? maybe?#cause like... that's the whole reason he's even in the game i believe#idk i'm just guessing

society if the atari 7800 didnt have the worst sound chip imaginable.
#watching footage of the 7800 donkey kong and dk jr ports compared to the colecovision and even tho the graphics are more faithful#and the dk jr 7800 has the electricity stage im still like yikes cause the sound alone is soooo just tone deaf and grating#tho ive had my 7800 for ever now and like even tho i only have a handful of actual 7800 games most of the ones i have sound v fine#ms pac man sounds great aside from the jingles robotron sounds perfect#i think its just really bad at doing music like it can do music but everything is so tone deaf and rough#but then like even the sfx on dk and dk jr were v v like equally as grating so i guess it depends on game#anways im praying to god everything works well with my colecovision cause im looking up more stuff abt it and it really seems to be like#a perfect console for arcade fans of that time period like everything looks so faithful and great#like sure it doesnt have alll the popular arcade games its missing some of the big ones like space invaders pac man joust dig dug#but it easily seems to make up for that due to the fact that everything it does have in terms of ports beats the competition

They're definitely never going to bring this back, especially in the current era of Nintendo greed, but I do miss in how in Animal Crossing on the GameCube they just had wholesale copies of old NES games that you could play in game. Practically in full. And you didn't even need to cheat to get (most of) them.
I remember how handy it was back in the day (when time traveling still had consequences) that I could just play Ice Climbers while I waited for the in-game clock to get to where I needed it to be and then I could run out of my little house and go about my tiny errands. It was fun. It's also why I knew who the ice climbers were when we got smash bros melee.
#every time i get an arcade cabinet in a new ac game im always a little let down#that you cant play them#it would be nice if they could at least do#something kind of similar again#maybe a little port of the old tortimer island games from new leaf#or amiibo festival#i dunno its not like they don't have options
