So this is a Grey's Anatomy post because I can't help but marvel at the number of doctors that are related to each other in this show 😂😂

You know how Kylie and Kendall Jenner only got famous because they're related to Kim Kardashian? And the Scarlet Witch (AKA Elizabeth Olsen) probably wouldn't be who she was without Mary Kate and Ashley? Or even how Maude Apatow (Euphoria) and Jaden Smith struck lucky with their parents - Judd Apatow and Jada Pinkett/Will Smith?

Some people get all the luck - they are connected to the right people and it makes their lives a thousand times better than the rest of us 😭. Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital has it's own share of family and friend drama most of the time (remember the Link - Amelia - Owen - Teddy - Tom drama? or Meredith and her surprise sisters?), but sometimes even these characters take it too far and we have to call it out!

So just to lay out the family relationship (not including romantic relationships) on this show:

Meredith: 2 sisters (Lexie & Maggie), and her mom Ellis Grey

Derek: 1 sister (Amelia) and 1 nephew (Lucas Adams Shepherd)

Owen: 1 sister (Megan)

Andrew: 1 sister (Carina)

Jackson: his mom (Catherine Fox) and his grandad (Harper Avery)

Richard Webber: his bio daughter Maggie (this is a technicality but still!)

I won't even get into the tangled web that is the dating chart of the doctors at the hospital! So many characters have gotten jobs that they really weren't qualified for based on the relationshipsnthey have

hangouts or dates? alex karev x reader

prompt: hangouts starting to feel like dates until the last hangout when alex confesses tha he likes you

at first, meeting up with alex during midnight on shifts when the both of you had to stay overnight had only happened that one time the two of you were the only ones together at the hospital. mer, cristina, callie, april, jackson, and the rest were off that night, having the privilege of going back to their comfy, warm beds. while you and alex on the other hand, had to stay back and stick with your schedules.

so alex that day asked if you wanted to hang with him at the cafeteria later that night for some midnight snacks. anyways, you both were bound on a slow but important night since you had patients to check up on every so often during the night. and of course, you guys were really close already so it wouldn't have been a problem.

doing that with alex was really fun. he'd show up with lattes and you'd show up with cupcakes then the both of you would catch up with each other, have deep talks as if nobody was around, and laugh so loud until you realize it was time to quickly check up on your patients.

it was really fun to the point where almost every other day when you two had the same night shifts at the hospital, the both of you would seriously dedicate your "midnight snacks" to the point where your friends would tease you for being too busy for date night with alex, suspecting there was more going on.

"hey, y/n, wanna get drinks with us!" lexi invited you to get drinks with her mark, mer, derek, and cristina as they were all bound for home afterwards anyways.

you smiled apologetically, "sorry, i'm doing an overnight shift tonight and i-"

"have a date with karev as usual," mark winked, getting you to roll your eyes.

"it is NOT a date, mark! it's our-"

"daily midnight snack blah blah blah," cristina sarcastically understood, "i honestly don't understand how you guys are not dating yet when it's clearly a date!"

"i know you'll miss me when you're out drinking later, cristina," you waved your friends goodbye as they all exchanged playful looks with each other.

it was 10:00pm now, and you had two hours left till you could hangout with alex.

while you were doing some computer work to get time to pass, there was a thought that got you thinking.

alex.

moments of the many hangouts you've been having with your friend have been flashing on your mind. but they were certain moments about alex.

the way the corners of his mouth go up when you make him smile.

the way his laugh lines appear when you crack a joke with him.

his direct eye contact with you when you talk about something whether deep or silly.

suddenly, after recalling these moments, you started feeling your cheeks heat up a little, as there were pink spots forming around. with that, your eyes widened, realizing you had feelings forming for your friend.

now realizing how your friends saw the two of you together from their perspective made you feel all so silly, putting a small smile on your face. you like alex!

what made you smile even more publicly, was when you received a message on your phone from alex.

"see ya later cupcake," he sent. that was a new nickname that surprised you and made you feel butterflies in your stomach.

"that's new.." you replied, following with, "see you!" there was no way right now you'd reply back with a nickname, not now at least...

midnight. the midnight snack hangout was about to commence.

after buying cupcakes from the cafeteria, you turned around and already saw alex with lattes on both hands, with a small smile on his face.

"hey cupcake," he greeted, as he started to sit down with you in the table.

"i hope you were talking to the cupcakes and then you could look so food deprived," you sarcastically noted, trying to conceal the flustered feeling you instantly had at the moment.

"i could be talking to the both of ya" he teased.

after an hour or two of talking loud and silly with alex, things started to mellow down.

you were drinking the last of your lattes with alex quietly until you asked a really good question that got to him.

"so which patient are you watching overnight?"

"hm?" he shot you a quick and nervous look all of a sudden. "how about you?"

"mr. evans up in the icu, but i asked you first, alex!" you said with an upbeat but suspicious tone.

"uh, some lady's newborn up in the nicu."

"does that lady or a newborn have a name you should know about, dr. karev?"

"yeah, uh-"

"you're lying, don't even both think of a ridiculous name!" you laughed, lightly punching him in the shoulder. "what's up with you, alex, do you even have a patient to watch tonight?"

he looked around quickly for a brief moment, then finally sighed and looked directly at you. "no," he said fidgeting, "look, i just wanted to do overtime again and hangout with you, alright?"

you raised your eyebrows the minute he mentioned, 'again'.

"i'm sorry, 'again' you said?"

alex then looked down at the floor out of guilt, "yeah, i just really liked spending more time with you, and i guess apart of me's been too chicken to ask you out on a real date outside this place, cause i really like you, y/n."

if only alex could see your soft and warm expression upon hearing the sweetest thing you could ever hear from him. you turned to get a cupcake from the table and turned back, lowering it for him to see.

he took the cupcake, looking back at you now as he saw a glimmering look on your face.

"i like you alex, actually a little more than the cupcakes i always buy us."

now, there was the smile that you were looking forward to seeing from alex. it was a small and slightly red embarrassed smile, from your friend.

he slowly unwrapped the wrappings of the cupcake, eyes still on you. "do you wanna continue this into a little date, cupcake?" his new nickname for you.

"i hope you're referring to me this time, karev," you tease, getting a bite from alex's cupcake as he lets out a light laugh, adoring you and this moment.

i suppose cupcake dates and more are to be expected from now on...

Mark Sloan x reader who is best friends with Meredith. They secretly get together a few weeks after he arrives in Seattle. A few months later she starts to feel sick and Meredith asks her if she could be pregnant. She recognizes she might be and takes a test. It comes out positive. She freaks out and Meredith calms her down. Meredith still doesn't know about her and Mark so she keeps begging the reader to tell her who the father is. This goes on for a few days, with a few friends joining in on the questioning. She hasn't told Mark yet though. During one of these conversations, Mark overhears them and drops the files he's holding. He goes to the reader and says “We're having a baby?” with a huge smile on his face. She nods and he hugs and kisses her. Meanwhile, those listening in are completely shocked because nobody saw that coming. Please?

You rushed into the locker room, hoping you weren't late, luckily they were all still there.

"Where were you?" you have been warmly welcomed by your group.

"I was- I've just- well now I'm here" you took off your shirt starting to get ready, without adding details about your horrible morning.

"Oh the girl has a secret lover" Cristina said. You ignored her. "Maybe Jackson knows something more" she continued.

"What the hell are you saying?" he looked at her confused as he finished getting dressed.

"Wait, Jackson?!" April added in a worried tone.

"Kepner calm down" Lexie said to her.

"Okay stop, there isn't any secret lover anywhere" you said shutting up everyone.

A few minutes later everyone had already left, except Meredith, she was waiting for you. You were sitting on one of the benches staring into space.

"Y/n, are you okay?" the blonde sat next to you putting a hand on your shoulder.

"Umh, yeah..." you stood up to get ready to join the others, but just before you went to the door you stopped feeling the urge to throw up.

"Oh hey" Meredith got up quickly to help you. "Oh my God, are you pregnant?"

"What?" you recovered while she accompanied you to the bathroom to rinse your face.

"So?" Meredith's curious voice interrupted your stillness. You looked at her as if to ask where she was getting at, and a smile appeared on her face. "You're pregnant, aren't you?" she asked again.

Actually you didn't know what to answer her, it could be possible.

"I... don't know..." you said confused.

"Okay, stay here, I'm going to get a test" she rushed out to find one, the hospital definitely had one.

Meanwhile you sat down for a moment. How would Mark react? I mean, you'd been dating for a few months now and no one knew about it, but you had no idea what he would think about the idea of having a baby.

"Okay, here's!" Meredith came back suddenly making you scare. You took the test without thinking twice, anxiety was starting to rise. One day you would have thought about having baby and starting a family, but one day... now it would have been challenging, the residency was already giving you enough stress. But that day had come sooner than you thought, what the test said was clear.

You came out of the bathroom where Meredith was waiting for you.

"Positive?" you answered her by nodding and she jumped up to come towards you.

"Are we happy?" she asked you tried to hold back her excitement.

"I-" anxiety began to take over. "I'm just starting out, how do I handle all this? It's a miracle I can remember my keys when I go out, I don't have the responsibility like a good mother would have!" you were about to freak out.

"Ok, you're panicking, calm down" Meredith made you sit back on the bench. "You will have time for your baby, when you see him he'll become the only thing that matters to you, and well then you will become more responsible too… I hope" you let out a small laugh.

"You're right" you managed to come to your senses, while a huge smile was created on your face. "I'm gonna have a baby!" you exclaimed realizing the situation.

"Yeah!" Meredith literally choked you trying to hug you.

"Wait, so you really have a secret lover?" she asked more curious. You weren't ready to tell her, but you couldn't deny it, because the baby was there and he certainly couldn't have created on his own. "Oh my God is really Jackson?!"

"What? No!" she wouldn't even leave you alone for a second until you told her who the father was. For now you used the excuse of going back to work to get out of the way, but you should have thought of something else in the future. Even if she sooner or later she would find out.

During the day you managed to find a moment for yourself, alone to rest in one of the call rooms, when you then heard the sound of the door opening.

"We had the same idea" you got out of bed having recognized the voice.

"Hey" you approached Mark to kiss him. He smiled at you as he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.

"You look happy" he told you.

"I am" you kept looking at him smiling. You were so torn between telling him or waiting, but your pager preceded all your thoughts.

"Fuck, I'm sorry I have to..."

"I know" he gave you one last little kiss to greet you, you looked at him one last time before leaving. Yes, you would have waited.

Meanwhile, as these weeks went by, the thing that annoyed you and made difficult to go on the most wasn't the early pregnancy symptoms, but Meredith. God, you didn't think she could get this annoying. She wanted to know at all costs who the father of the baby was, sometimes you just wanted to disappear from the world for this. Yeah well, you would have done the same thing in her side, but it was so frustrating.

"Please Y/n, I won't say to anyone, you can trust me!" at one point you stopped to think about it. She was important to you, your lives depended on each other, telling her wouldn't hurt anyone.

"Okay... I have someone here in this hospital..." you sighed before revealing his name. "It's Mark"

"Mark Sloan?!" she repeated raising her eyebrows almost in shock.

"Yes, Mark and I are having a baby!" you repeated too, still almost incredulous.

"Are we going to have a baby?" you whipped around behind you at hearing her voice as he dropped the file he was holding. This wasn't exactly the moment you wanted him to know, so you looked at him nodding.

"Oh my God Y/n!" he approached you embracing you tightly, even managing to convey to you all the happiness he felt at that moment, then he began to kiss you intensely, not caring about the people who were around there. You wouldn't expected this reaction but you were so happy.

"I love you Y/n" at that moment all those hormones could have made you cry.

"I love you too Mark" you went back to kissing him. Meredith was smiling at you from behind, while everyone was completely paralyzed by the news.

"Y/n's having a baby?"

"Sloan's having a baby??"

"Wait, Mark and Y/n are together?!" Cristina, Lexie, Jackson and April were there wondering and unable to grasp the whole situation.

"Why is no one working in this fucking hospital?" you said confused and annoyed that they found out it too like this.

"Don't care about it, we'll be the best family in the world" he put his hand on your cheek to caress you as your foreheads rested against each other.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has suspended public duties to "stop and reflect" on whether to remain in the job, after a court opened a preliminary inquiry into his wife.

In a statement, the Spanish leader said he urgently needed to decide "whether I should continue to lead the government or renounce this honour".

The court said it was responding to corruption claims against Begoña Gómez.

Mr Sánchez said he would make a decision on his future next Monday.

His wife would defend her honour and work with the judiciary, he said, to make clear there was no substance to the allegations against her.

The complaint against Begoña Gómez was raised by anti-corruption campaigners Manos Limpias (Clean Hands), who have taken part in a number of high-profile court cases in recent years and are led by a man linked to the far right called Miguel Bernad.

Manos Limpias put out a statement on Thursday signed by Mr Bernad acknowledging that its allegations might be false, because they were based on online newspaper stories: "If they are not true, it will be up to those that published them to take responsibility for the falsehood."

The Socialist prime minister said he would give a statement to the media on 29 April, after reflecting whether it was worth remaining in office "despite the mud" that the right and far right were trying to turn politics into.

In a lengthy statement on X, Mr Sánchez complained of a "strategy of harassment" over months aimed at weakening him politically and personally targeting his wife.

The court did not give details of the accusations against Begoña Gómez other than to say it had begun investigating allegations of influence peddling and corruption on 16 April.

However, the Cadena Ser website published details of the Manos Limpias complaint, which included a list of allegations culled from news websites including El Confidencial and Voz Populi.

El Confidencial reported on Wednesday that the inquiry was looking into Begoña Gómez's links to private companies that had secured government money or public contracts.

In particular, it cited a "sponsorship agreement" involving tourism group Globalia and a foundation she ran in 2020 called IE Africa Center. In 2020, Globalia secured a €475m (£407m) bailout for its airline Air Europa, as part of a series of government rescue packages for companies during the Covid-19 crisis.

The legal complaint was signed by Miguel Bernad, the head of Manos Limpias, which describes itself as a trade union and has in the past targeted politicians, bankers and King Felipe VI's sister, Princess Cristina.

Spain's conservative Popular Party (PP) demanded explanations in parliament earlier on Wednesday, to which the prime minister said simply that he believed in justice "despite everything".

Spanish media said he had left parliament for his Madrid residence visibly upset. Hours later he accused PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo of working with far-right party Vox to bring him down.

"I am not naive. I realise they are denouncing Begoña, not because she has done anything illegal - they know there is no case - but because she is my wife," he complained in his statement.

Political allies expressed support for Mr Sánchez, who has been in power since 2018, but his decision to suspend public duties comes at a tense time for his Socialist party ahead of European Parliament elections in June and elections in the Catalonia region of north-eastern Spain next month.

He was due to take part in a Catalan campaign launch in Barcelona on Thursday.

Pedro Sánchez leads an awkward coalition that includes two Catalan separatist parties, which were persuaded to support the government in return for an amnesty that covered a banned Catalan referendum on secession in 2017.

Without the support of the Catalan Republican Left (ERC) and Together for Catalonia (JxCat) he would not have been able to stay in power, following an inconclusive election last year.

Opposition parties were outraged by the amnesty, which also means the former Catalan regional leader Carles Puigdemont will stand in next month's regional vote, seven years after he fled imminent arrest and went into exile in Belgium.

Mr Puigdemont is still facing a terrorism case but believes the amnesty will enable him to return to Spain.
