A supportive buddy

I would like to thank DCAMM for an amazing week educating my group of externs about the public sector and many pathways architecture can take us on. Through this externship, I connected not just with the staff at DCAMM, but also the other extends bonding over our shared backgrounds coming from all over the world and our experiences.

I am truly grateful for the opportunity to learn from such knowledgeable professionals and to form meaningful connections with fellow externs who share a passion for architecture. This experience has broadened my understanding of the public sector and opened my eyes to the diverse possibilities within the field. Thank you, DCAMM, for a week filled with inspiration, learning, and community!!

It Looks Like a Place for Collaboration!

Cultural competence is the ability to understand, appreciate, and interact effectively with people from different cultural backgrounds and history. This means working past differences, and working together towards a common good.

In DCAMM, there are many departments with a plethora of people from many different backgrounds. This creates a diverse pool of individuals who all have to work together and adapt to each other’s work ethic to make sure deadlines and deliverables are met and are well executed.

Dungeo Siege receives a 887MB High Resolution ESRGAN Texture Pack, improving 500 textures

AntonioR has shared an ESRGAN AI-enhanced high resolution texture pack for Dungeon Siege. This pack is 887MB in size and will update some of the game’s textures. Therefore, we highly recommend downloading it if you are still playing this RPG.

In case you weren’t aware of, Dungeon Siege is an action role-playing game that came out on the PC in 2002. The game uses a custom engine, features a third-person camera system and lets the player navigate the terrain and fight off hostile creatures.

Going into more details, this texture pack contains about 500 new textures. The modder mostly used the “Misc” model for ESRGAN which gave great results. Furthermore, the areas he worked on are: Farmlands, Stonebridge, Glacern (only buildings and items) and upper parts of Castle Ehb. As AntonioR said, this is around 15-20% of the game.

In order to showcase the visual improvements, the modder released the following video. This video compares the game’s vanilla textures with the upscaled ones. As we can see, the visual improvement is easily noticeable.

Since this mod only covers 15-20% of the game world, we really hope that another modder will pick up from where AntonioR ended. You can download this ESRGAN AI-enhanced HD Texture Pack from here.

Day4

An inclusive mentor

At our time in DCAMM, Brenna took her time to integrate us with the work culture and people at DCAMM, allowing us to understand how multifaceted DCAMM is. I believe this shows an integral part of being a good mentor, allowing people who are eager to learn to be involved in your professional practice. It takes someone who is not just personable but professional and disciplined to coordinate with the many departments at a large group like DCAMM to organize and allow extends to be involved.

A difficult client

During our time at DCAMM, we met with the Office of Design and Construction. Unfortunately the team had a difficult day dealing and firing a contractor before the meeting.

However, as someone who has dealt with the same issue in the past with dealing with contractors in OAC meetings, I really looked up to how the ODC handled the situation professionally. From this experience (although unexpected) showed the unseen realities of working in design and how to work past them in a professional and efficient manner.

Workplace Life

office’s workplace culture. Why is it interesting to you?

Being in DCAMM’s office, I quickly picked up that DCAMM was unlike a traditional architecture firm. Being in the public sector, DCAMM gets to assist in a multitude of projects from education, to healthcare, to even residential.

This connection reflected in workspaces and meeting spaces with open seating, allowing members from all over DCAMM to interact with one another. At DCAMM, no two days are the same.

Hello, I am Antonio Reyes! I’m a native Mexican/Okinawan artist and designer interested in Architecture and its intersectionality with art, psychology, and sociology.

I grew up between Mexico, Okinawa, and Central Mass, (Northborough). And I am about to start my 4th semester at the BAC’s Bachelor of Architecture program.

For BAC’s Fall 2024’s Practice Connex, I will be working with DCAMM in Boston!
