no because i just realized antoine had to fight for his life every single day. the poor man probably does not know what healthy attachments are even if he tries, sometimes he will just automatically fall into that mindset of "this is mine. i must protect what is mine. I will fight for what is mine. but only if what's mine wants me to." like... the man is literally an attack dog primed and ready to commit murder if the person he's attached to gives him the command

Anatomy of a Fall
Tumblr media
Movies watched in 2024
Anatomy of a Fall (2023, France)
Director: Justine Triet
Writers: Justine Triet & Arthur Harari
Mini-review:
Damn, that was good. I was a bit worried about its extended runtime, but the film managed to keep me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Legal dramas/thrillers tend to be hit-or-miss for me, and this one is definitely a hit. Anatomy of a Fall is a masterclass in directing, writing and acting. Justine Triet's directing is both complex and naturalistic, while Sandra Hüller's performance is nothing short of astonishing. Also, the dog (from what I've read his name is Messi) might just be the best animal performer I've ever seen in a movie. As for the script, I loved that it stays ambiguous until the very end, cause at the end of the day, the truth isn't what this story is about. Anyway, I can perfectly understand all the hype surrounding this film; it truly is breathtaking.

"Do yourself a favour and do what lonely people do: get a dog." (Sanguine-law; judge, why not) Antoine
his eyes squinted a little when the judge vampire talked. What a nonsense when he repeated again that he wasn’t lonely and was fine with being on his own. Why people taken this assumption ? He sighed as he turned his head toward the man with a tired look. « I don’t need a dog or a pet, they need to be take care of wich i can’t with my professions also i don’t want to have fur all over my house. » he arranged his gloves now looking away. « And you know that many animals are…distrustful With someone with my condition.» he whispered to not have people hearing them.
Animals didn’t felt safe with vampires or other supernatural creatures, so it wasn’t like he could have a pets either way…which was fine. It was a waste of time.
« and again im not lonely, I just want to be on my own. That all. »
