Putting “Nazi” and “Zionist” right next to each other in a DNI should count as a hate crime

Sometimes, there are periods when I only interact with fandom spaces/communities that are Jewish centered or run by other Jews, and I’ll feel so happy and safe among other Jews and don’t have to worry about getting jump-scared by some antisemitic drivel. But then I start to feel comfortable enough to step out into mainstream fandom spaces when I find a new piece of media that I like, and come across a popular blog that has “zionists kys/dni” or something similar in their bio, and the reality that we are so hated just feels so staggeringly heavy. It’s like, I know they’re out there, but deliberately only surrounding myself with positive people for the sake of my mental health for so long and then stepping back into the mainstream gives me whiplash.

Marvel and the comic book industry was invented and built off the hard work of Jewish Americans and Jewish Immigrants in the 1930s as a response to antisemitism and the holocaust. There are explicit Jewish characters in the comics but were erased when they turned into live-action films.
The MCU has erased the Jewish aspects in the their films and have had little to no Jewish people involved, and one of the first times the hire a Jewish actor to play a Jewish character who does not have their identity erased you want to boycott it.
(We love Andrew Garfield in this house. He is a Jewish person, but Peter Parker/Spider-Man's Jewish identity was still erased in his films.)
You should not get to enjoy any art and media made by Jewish people. Part of the reason why so many Jewish people work in arts is because up until recently the entertainment industry was considered a joke. Jewish people were excluded from many other professions.

Inserting politics into fandom is childish and stupid but when drawings of fictional characters supporting terrorist organisations get shoved down my throat I pretty much have to develop counter-headcanons so they won't be ruined for me. I'm being forced to make my favorite characters be normal about Jews when it really should be the fucking default.

Tough questions on the BDS movement answered
Mandatory listening.
TLDR: the BDS movement originated at the most anti-Semitic conference in history. I do not condone the current events in the Gaza Strip. But to dehumanize the Jewish people is a speed run to Nazi rhetoric and neo-Nazism and anti brown and anti black racism. Stop it, you are not anti colonialism you just hate the Jewish people.

Hey, who the hell is categorizing the TOP 100 Femslash AO3? Because why the hell are Dina (TLOU) and Rachel Berry, both explicitly Jews and even have ethnic characteristics, are categorized as white? If you give categorized characters as Latines like Wednesday Addams and Ava Silva, you can do so with Jews.
Also:
Tumblr media
Why Ymir is categorized as white here? She wasn't born in Paradis and her skin is tanner than most of AOT characters. At least classify her as ambiguous.

Seeing people in my dash who don't post antisemitic shit clearly having an ongoing relationship with someone who DOES post antisemitic shit actually got me to go and look at that person's blog again because maybe I misremembered the violently anti-Jew shit they reblogged. Maybe that was someone else.
Went to their blog. Scrolled. Saw them encouraging a continued boycott against Israel. So, yeah, definitely I was recalling the correct person and the antisemitism but also "boycott Israel" is way tamer than the literal "the IDF are Nazis" that made me unfollow months ago.
Not naming names because I do not need the fucking dog pile that will come from stating that a well-loved creator in a WW2 show fandom is antisemitic. But let's also not act like this isn't the same shit song again and again.
If you are willing to keep talking to someone and tagging someone who posts antisemitic shit no matter the level of violence attached to it, you are part of the problem. Hating Israel because they defended themselves against yet another attempted genocide from a terrorist organization that happily uses and abuses civilians constantly makes you really fucking antisemitic. And continually having contact with someone who posts that shit means you are, too.

Y'know, I read fanfic right now to get *away* from the constant antisemitism because it exists nearly everywhere else online right now. The last place I want to encounter pro-🍉 antisemitic nonsense is fucking Ao3.
That's definitely enough internet for one day. See you all after yom tov. *Sigh*

I think the reason the Miku thing is so grating is because it represents a bigger trend in fandom. Everyone can have religious headcanons, except Jewish people. Spider-Man can be any ethnicity, nationality, etc. except Jewish or Israeli. MCU characters can be AU'd into being different races or having different powers, but don't you dare say Captain America is Jewish in your story. Digimon says there's heroes in every country but if you make an Israeli one or say one in one country is Jewish, you support genocide now. Miku has no canon ethnicity and people from over 60 countries have drawn her as their ethnicity or nationality or both, but don't you ever imply Israeli Miku is okay.
And the real, very clear subtext underneath all of that is clear: you don't get to be in fandom spaces. You don't get to relax and take a break from the world. You can't sit back and dream up any character who is both heroic and Jewish. You don't get to have fiction as a fun escape from day to day life. Your being Jewish makes you ineligible for that kind of joy, even in fandoms where the source material was written by Jews in the first place.
It doesn't help that so many Vocaloid fans are kids so with Miku in particular, we're seeing kids as young as 11 or 12 get bullied out of fandom spaces by adults. Hey, Pro-Pals? Hamasniks? Let me let you in on a secret: ZERO PALESTINIANS ARE HELPED BY THIS! You think someone living in a warzone is helped by you yelling at a child for daring to draw a fictional singer as Israeli? Do you honestly believe that someone somewhere is one step closer to liberation because you tore into a 14 year on Twitter over a doodle they posted?
No. No, you don't honestly believe that. This is not about helping Palestinians. This is about punishing Jewish people - and in this case in particular, Jewish children - for existing in public. This is about penalizing people for acknowledging that Judaism exists, for imagining themselves in fiction instead of imagining worlds in which they don't exist, for interrupting your fantasies of a Jew-free Earth.
The issue is not Miku, it's that the Miku debacle is part of a nearly year-long trend of goyim yelling at us for existing Jewishly and unabashedly. And all that hate and constant anger is a lot to take. Especially when so many people lie to us, saying it's not about antisemitism, it's about [buzzword here].
Yeah, no. If you're yelling at children for imagining Jewish characters existing, you're being antisemitic. It's not about anything else. Stop lying.

Turns out turning anon off still does not keep the antisemitism away. I make a post about antisemitism once in a blue moon and asshole start interacting with me again. It was not even about the Middle East, it was about the Jewish history of superhero comics.
Frankly I also think some of these Jews online are frankly lying or have some very serious issues. Why are you comparing yourself and other Jews to rats and insects?

Antisemites shouldn't be allowed to live either
Antisemites aren't allowed to enjoy content or characters created by Jewish people. They're also not allowed to enjoy Jewish characters either. Sorry, those are the rules! 🤷🏽‍♀️

Just a reminder that I had someone in fandom try and discredit me by saying "Ugh, it sucks to find out a writer for a fic you like is a Zionist."
Was the fic about Zionism? No.
Was it about Israel? No.
There WAS a Jewish character because it was my RosieLemmons fic from Masters of the Air, and Rosie Rosenthal was Jewish, but he was an American Jew whose opinions on Israel, whatever they might have been, were ALSO not part of the fic because it was literally a love at first sight fic full of yearning and gay shit because I wanted to write love at first sight yearning and gay shit.
But because other posts on my blog were about how I believe Israel has a right to exist, this person had to take my completely unrelated fic and try and make it bad for other people to enjoy it because I'm a Zionist.
I already didn't trust anyone saying "I'm not antisemitic; I'm just anti-Zionist!" because I have eyes and common sense, but it was a particular eye opener when someone saw 1) I was writing a fic they liked with a Jewish character and 2) felt I had to be denounced for believing Israel has a right to exist.
Like. I don't have a better example of how fucking deep the willingness to be antisemitic goes in some people. Imagine you're in a fandom with a Jewish character who STATES his Jewishness and then sees the camps and then you see that someone writing him believes Israel has a right to exist, and you not only THINK but also POST that it sucks that a ZIONIST is writing a fic you like about that character.

You know how I was saying earlier that there is no justification for rape and torture ever, under any circumstances?
These people are calling for that to happen to Jews every. single. day.
There is no excuse for this whatsoever. I better hear the gentiles insisting that the pro-Palestinian movement is not antisemitic condemning this with your whole chest.
