author's note | ugh i haven't written a longer fic like this in a while, i've missed this

Joshua was that type of person who never wanted to bother you with his own problems. He cherished you and your happiness way too much, so what would be the point in sharing his own worries with you?

He was a big boy, he could take care of himself, no matter how much he wanted to find peace and comfort in your arms.

You knew something was wrong, despite him insisting he was fine. You knew him like the back of your hand and something has been clearly bothering him.

His bright smile was gone and even if he did smile, it didn’t reach his eyes, like it usually did. He didn’t share any funny stories from the practice room, he went to bed without giving you your mandatory good night kiss and you woke up to his side of the bed cold and empty.

“Joshua, you really have to tell me if anything is bothering you,” you said and squeezed his arm. “I’m here for you.”

But the only response you got was a small smile and a “I’m fine darling. Don’t worry about me,” which didn’t make the case any better.

You decided to let it go and wait for him to come around. Especially, because he had a company dinner soon, which you hoped would cheer him up a bit.

Perhaps a talk with Jeonghan or Seungcheol wouldn’t hurt as well.

Leaving with a quiet goodbye and a kiss to your forehead (like he always did before leaving), made you hopeful you were slowly getting your Shua back.

Some of the boys posted a couple of pictures of them together, before the party even began and Joshua was in every single one of them.

He seemed fairly happy, but you knew very well he could have been pretending.

Nonetheless, you decided to put your phone away, there was no point in dwelling on whether he was fine or not.

He wouldn’t be coming back to your apartment tonight anyways, he never did after big parties. He was always afraid that he’d make too much noise and wake you up, so he always went back to his own place after a night of drinking.

Settling down for the night, you unawarely stroked the pillow on your boyfriend’s side, where his head would usually be. He had never told you this, but his heart always skips anytime you run your fingers through his hair, as a warm feeling settles in his tummy.

He was always convinced that love was an emotion that he’d never be able to describe, but the genuine care in your eyes and the happiness in your smile could make him talk about love for hours.

“Fuck.”

You tiredly rubbed your eyes with your (Joshua’s) sweatshirt, trying to pick up where the sounds were coming from, while still being half asleep.

You stumbled out of bed, not so gently running into your dresser, while trying not to freak out over a thief who's probably robbing your apartment right now.

Finally, reaching the kitchen, you exhaled in relief as you saw that it was only your boyfriend, trying to take off his shoes.

But then you realised something. Why was he here? And then you realised something else.

He was definitely not sober.

Seeing your boyfriend drunk was nothing new, but seeing him wasted was something you thought you’d never get to see.

“Honey, are you okay?” you asked, quickly grabbing his hand to get his attention. You couldn't help thinking that something bad had happened, as his eyes were wide and he seemed almost… scared?

Shaking his head, he clumsily grabbed your other hand, putting them on his cheeks.

For a second you thought about calling Jeonghan. You’ve never seen your boyfriend in such a miserable state before and it was scaring you. The light in his eyes was gone and his beautiful face showed nothing but pain.

Nothing about this was good, but the worst was that you still had no idea what had happened.

As you got lost in your own thoughts, you felt something wet hitting your fingertips and that was when you realised Joshua was crying.

“Oh baby,” you whispered, as he collapsed into your arms. His sobs echoed through your quiet apartment, while his shoulder shook with every breath he took.

He held tightly onto you, almost as you were his lifeline - the only thing keeping him alive. Your own heart was breaking with every cry that he let out, the sound shattering any ounce of hope that you had that he’d be all right.

You lowered both of you to the ground, so you could sit in the dark curridor, illuminated only by the moonlight coming through the window.

Taking a shaky inhale, he put his head on your lap, while you gently stroked his head and placed small kisses on his forehead, to let him know that you were there with him.

“I’m not a lot of people’s favourite person.”

The not so comforting silence of your apartment was finally broken by your boyfriend, who seemed to have calmed down, even though he still struggled to take a deep breath.

“What did you say honey?” you said quietly, brushing his hair away from his face.

“I think I’m not a lot of people’s favourite person,” he repeated, slowly pushing himself up to seating.

You looked at his tired expression, wanting nothing more to take all of his burdens away from him.

He was usually very good at avoiding the hate he got online, but from time to time, it could really get to him. It was unavoidable, you both knew that, but sometimes he wanted nothing more but to talk to his fans and have a good time with them.

But because a lot of people want to harm him, his reputation and his feelings, it wasn’t easy to manoeuvre between the good and the bad comments.

It seemed like this time he stumbled upon some really nasty shit.

“Why do you say that? Where did it come from?” you asked rhetorically, voice laced with concern.

He didn’t respond, only put his head on your shoulder, putting all of his weight onto you.

Not wanting to dig deeper, you put your arms tightly around his shoulders, and placed one of your hands on his tear stained cheek.

“You know,” you muttered so as not to startle him. “You might not be a lot of people’s favourite person, but you’re definitely my favourite person,” you kissed the side of his head, as you felt more tears rolling down his cheek.

“I have no idea how you’re feeling right now, nor will I ever get to experience what you’re experiencing, but I want you to know that despite all those horrible people that want to cause nothing more but pain, there are thousands of people who love you and cherish you.”

“Take a look around you. You have me, you have your brothers and you have your true fans that want you to be happy,” you whispered into his hair.

“I think that’s more than enough,” he said quietly, lifting his head to look at you.

His eyes were red, but to you they were the happiest they’ve been in a while. Even the corners of his lips were slightly turned upwards, to which you couldn’t help but smile.

“You cannot make everyone happy, Shua. There are going to be people that’ll want to hurt you, but remember that you’re always surrounded by people that love you,” you said.

He turned away to wipe his wet cheeks, feeling slightly embarrassed about his emotional outburst.

Usually, he’d go to his own apartment and cry himself to sleep, but tonight something made him come back home to you.

“Joshua,” you put your hand on his shoulder. “Next time, please talk to me before it gets that bad. I know that you don’t want to burden me with your worries, but I can't stand seeing you like this.”

“I love you so much, and I want us to go through the good and the bad together.”

He nodded and took your hand in his.

“Together.”

so currently there is a movement happening in sk, with women going on strike, protesting and coming forward about them being exploited, blackmailed and assaulted by men. this is a very common, every day occurrence and a lot of people tie this back to the declining birth rate in korea, and why women are refusing to procreate with korean men. with one of the most heinous thing being that there is an app called telegram, where basically you can create chat rooms, and in one of these chat rooms, there is thousands of men degrading women, talking about vile and disgusting things regarding women, and sending deepfakes (hyper realistic pictures/videos with real life peoples features/voices) of p*rn with different women’s/childrens faces in them, including minors. this has caused immense turmoil in these women’s lives, and unfortunately in sk, not much is done when it comes to the men responsible and holding them accountable. they overlook these issues and many women are afraid to come forward, as they are usually threatened, blackmailed or ignored and disregarded by the police when they report these crimes. the men in question who are doing this, are unfortunately also in positions of power sometimes and are part of these groups targeting women, and many try to silence their victims.

recently, it came to light that the actor ahn bo hyun, who formerly dated blackpink’s jisoo, was caught subscribing to a korean youtube channel, where the creator is a raging misogynist and anti-feminist, and that reflects in the content he posts. this same person, because of his actions, caused a young woman and her mother to both end their lives, as his content and accusations were affecting them personally. they felt as if they had no choice but to unalive themselves. there was an instance with a woman being beat almost to death by a man, and a ten year old who demanded n*des from a 6 year old. imagine that.

   SYNOPSIS: OVERVIEW

  40 years ago the government announced their trials for genetic testing on humans. It started innocent, treatments for less severe hereditary conditions, people lining up to get the treatments. The world had no idea of the plans hidden under the facade of curing ailments. The damage started small, an odd quirk here and there, maybe some horns sprouting or skin changing color. As the years passed and technology improved, more and more subjects received more apparent powers, which would be passed down and mutated as the generations continued, it wasn’t a controlled test anymore. 

       Now the once bustling city was silent after 7 PM, their attempt to protect the public from the monsters they created, each identified mutant had to go through a test and get approval for citizenship, old abandoned hospitals refurbished to house the new citizens in their attempt to keep the mutants away from the standard citizens. Though they seemingly lived cohesively, prejudices were very common in this new world, every mutant and mutant sympathizers had to deal with ridicule, protests, threats. The once happy country had become one of hate, but maybe the ones you hate could be the only ones to save you, what would you do then?

this was a busy day for us cpfs. so i’m gonna compile some bits that made our cpn-senses go off! 😂

the most obvious, and my fave, because of how it follows the pattern is them not overlapping their releases. i thought gg was gonna release the gucci stuff at his usual 10:05 or 10:10 but he didn’t. that’s because wyb had jeanswest release on 10:30. i love how that was given it’s time till 13:00 when gg posted the ad. i’m clowning cause 13 is yizhan! and then 13:20 will be the weibo live for FPU, which was kinda delayed too when it went on. some more materials for GUCCI was released throughout the day but moreso on international platforms.

it’s hilarious cause i saw a hot take from an xz anti before who said he is “afraid” of doing stuff alongside wyb. that is their perception. lol. but i think even if you don’t believe in the whole cp thing, maybe it’s professional courtesy? maybe these two are friends and have this unspoken rule? 🤷🏻‍♀️

tho i was very happy to see them both pop up on my weibo opening screen! and to experience them having these international campaigns, for wyb, lacoste recently— makes me proud. 😌

a funny cpn from today is this parallel. in a segment at FPU, there was a moment where a fan said jiayou and wyb said cheering is not always necessary. It reminded us of that time xz was told to jiayou when he was about to go to the restroom and he’s like???? why do i have to jiayou???

yibo is the resident gremlin who always has a smart ass reply or some savage comeback for you but xz usually doesn’t. but we know what he has that in him too and i wish we could see more of that!

bonus cuteness before we proceed, this edit of them looking like they are doing the choreo for jisoo’s flower 🌸 and they are BP fanboys so it fits!

now some double standards. in the movie channel interview, they were asked where they first met, and wyb couldn’t remember. compare this to how he was with xz! he was always very proactive that they met in ttxs!!!!

there was also a part where they were asked to give an example of what they wanna learn from each other. and if they communicated to learn. so HJY said street dance and WYB said jiu jitsu but they both weren’t able to learn from each other. in the meantime, wyb taught xz a dance routine 😂😂😂 among other things. i’m sure yibo will be more than happy to help someone out, but i think you have to be at a certain level of closeness to him. or he is really comfortable with you.

this last section is for the beaded bracelet. i think it’s time to discuss it again because this is the 3rd time he is seen with it. so this looks like something personal for him. tho i have to say, you have the coco crush which is both personal and part of him promoting chanel too. i’m invested in this cpn and at the same time frustrated because of the questions.

1. i hate how no wardrobe accounts have confirmed what it is. and i kinda understand cause we never see it fully, plus there is cpn attached to it so they are extra careful. which is also another source of my frustration. why does he wear it when he has long sleeves on??? he was wearing a shirt earlier and his arms were bare! but wait.. he changed his clothes and as soon as he had something to sort of cover it, the bracelet was on. 💀💀💀💀

2. if this was a jewelry to show off and promote Chanel, why can’t we see it well? and i want to see the change in the beads’ color to confirm if it is what the solos say it is.

i’m also side eyeing international solos who are proudly commenting how wyb’s bracelet is luxury and not some cheap buddha beads like xz’s. what? it’s such an insult to a culture that is important to yibo. those bead bracelets made in specific temples for protection is part of his culture. he knows it’s importance and respects it. but what can i expect from solos really? lol. the bar is already very low when it comes to them but they still manage to disappoint me. 🪦

3. and if it is Chanel, i can still clown by thinking GG bought it for him so they can match. 😂😂😂 atleast with the aesthetic.

seventeen as flowers - hong jisoo

a/n: the third part of the seventeen as flowers series ! i think it’s pretty obvious i’m joshua biased by the amount that i wrote…anyway, to be honest, the first flower was literally joshua. like it covered almost everything, so it was a bit hard to find a second one but hopefully it makes sense <3 lots of love!

i. pink dahlias (inner strength, creativity, positivity; kindness, beauty, grace)

joshua is someone who i think really shows how one can stay kind even in tough situations, which is also another general meaning of a dahlia. if moving to a country across the world away from everything he’s known wasn’t enough, he’s now a world famous singer—which isn’t a bad thing; it just means that he has to deal with “fans” not respecting his privacy and well, him (joshua antis, i will fight you).

i also think that this fits well because he seems to handle stuff with such grace, and it’s crazy to me how he can manage it even if he’s super stressed—and you can’t tell me he isn’t because being an idol is not for the weak, which also shows off his inner strength. i glossed over this but moving to south korea from los angeles must have been so hard, especially because he was only in the 11th grade. and on top of that, he had to learn to sing and dance while being live-streamed…that takes strength i can’t imagine having myself.

another more obvious fact is that joshua is creative, just like the flower describes him to be. he’s picked up many hobbies over the years, like making bracelets to his own fragrances, and it makes me so happy he’s able to channel his feelings into these things.

ii. pink carnations (fondness, motherly love, fascination, distinction; "i'll never forget you.")

if there’s one thing i know about joshua and his mother, it’s that they have a strong bond. though we don’t know much about his family (and understandably so; they don’t need to talk about their personal life like that unless they want to), by now we all know mama hong, either through 17 project before their debut, the incident of hoshi going to her home in la without telling her son and eating la galbi, or more recently, joshua buying a home for her in south korea. It’s pretty obvious he loves his mom a lot, and i’m glad that they now don’t live across the world from each other. he’s spoken about her being a single mom and raising him while juggling two jobs, and i’m glad she doesn’t have to work anymore, thanks to her son.

another thing i want to mention is the fact that it used to mean “i’ll never forget you” back in victorian times. though the meaning has slightly worn off now, thanks to these flowers now becoming a classic mother’s day flower, i think it still applies to joshua. he’s someone that i personally admire a lot (he is one of my biases after all) and i believe that he brings a uniqueness to seventeen, just like the other members, in his own way. of course, we could talk about his vocal tone and singing techniques—which are both amazing by the way, he’s worked so hard—but i feel his gentleness is something you won���t forget once you’ve felt it. even that is only a part of why he is unforgettable despite being in a group of twelve other people and honestly? he deserves so much love.

Hahaha, I actually blocked quite a few of them a while back.. and I think those might've been the ones who resided in my inbox most. So it has been more quiet from their side, but they are still around and I think I still get weekly Jkkr asks. It's quite the improvement from getting daily Jkk asks though 😂. The funniest thing is that whenever something Tkk or Jkk happens they are usually the first to pop up.

The last few days it's been Taennies ofcourse (Hi , Taennie anon who did not get the memo that it's not Jennie and Jisoo). Taennie anons to me are so much more boring than Jkk anons, because at least Jkk anons see an actual bond between Jk and Jm, their ideas are based on an actual strong bond between two people (they're still wrong about the intensity of it ofcourse), but Taennie's just have so little to say that's actually based on something real. They just repeat the exact same stupid stuff again and again.. but there's never any depth to it.

Aside from that I'm basically under constant attack from anti's and solo's. The hate that goes around in this fandom is actually insane.

more notes- exo songs were mentioned a couple times but no one said they hate exo as a group. same for red velvet, and never the same song with rv (ex peek a boo, rbb, zimzalabim). itzy is definitely the least hated among the groups that fell off list. most people who hated aespa said they hated their whole discography, but did not name a specific song. ive could potentially be counted in disliked groups, but i feel they weren't mentioned by name enough. a LOT of people would say that a group "fell off" or that they were good until *specific title track.* this basically happened for every disliked/hated group

(ARCHIVE . . . this is HONEY'S old disc !! ) ❛❛ so HONEY technically only has one album (with the other two being a debut single & mini album) but i'll talk abt all her releases just incase that is what u meant! ❜❜

❛❛ HONEY debuted with debut single, SWEET LIKE HONEY (originally. honey by solar). she didn't have any creative direction in her debut && the concept as YG already had a plan for her debut that went along with her idol image (being sweet like honey, hence the name!). HONEY did however write the song, but that was after she was given direction of YG's vision of the debut! HONEY was super excited to debut as we all know BLACKPINK don't have much comebacks and it was another chance to be on the stage! ❜❜

❛❛ good news is HONEY did get some say in her comeback which was mini album SO GOLDEN (originally. u go girl by lee hyori,, bubble pop by hyuna,, you better know by red velvet,, chica by chungha && so what by stayc). HONEY basically begged YG for another try at debuting since compared to JENNIE's debut, KNETZ were saying it 'flopped'. YG let HONEY have a comeback (which made fans & antis mad since it was before JISOO & LISA had their debut & they claimed favouritism), however they insisted that she did everything herself (including the creative direction & writing the songs). anyways, HONEY used her comeback as a way to explore concepts she hadn't had the chance to do with BLACKPINK yet and since HONEY is a summer lover (heavily inspired by the summer queens, SISTAR) she decided to focus her comeback on a bright & fun comeback that everyone can boogie to during summer break! she named the album SO GOLDEN after the SUN being a huge golden ray of sunshine (and if u think abt her being from the MOON conglomerate then its kinda a play of words w her not wanting to be associated with all the darkness & corruption) and the album is all about HAVING FUN WITH UR GIRLFRIENDS & FEMALE EMPOWERMENT! HONEY found the comeback very challenging as she only had ever written songs for comebacks, not had more of a creative direction role but in the end it was worth it cause she made a few large bags from it! ❜❜

❛❛ HONEY didn't have a comeback after that for a while (bc you know YG hates giving BLACKPINK promotions) until she moved companies early 2024! she did however have her next comeback planned for quite a while (including all the songs written & concept theorised), however her company had other plans. following her relationship being outed by dispatch, her company thought it would be best to chase the clout & made her create an album all about LOVE (which HONEY hates and is so against her character). her first album was LOVE, HONEY (originally. espresso by sabrina,, summer or summer by dasom & hyolyn,, sticky by kiof,, pop by nayeon,, look at me by twice,, bae by hyolyn,, island by youha,, slow down by stayc,, bahama by aespa,, pina colada by girls world && dance on by alice) & the album was named that as it was conceptualised as like a mixtape for her LOVER (ew gross) and yknow how people sign love letters with love, their name (yeah that it, none of her albums have super deep reasoning soz). HONEY was very conflicted with his image as it felt like she wasn't presenting her real self through her music to the world which is always why she became an idol. she did try slip in as much songs CELEBRATING FEMINITY and HER FUN USUAL VIBES as she could! but lets say there was a lot of arguments between HONEY and her CEO (who is also her dad and actually not the evil one in her lore)! ❜❜
