Book name: Dogs of the Deadlands Author: Anthony McGowan
He looks a lot like his mother, just more gray-toned and with a pink nose.
I really wanna design Bratan as well since he's one of my favorite characters, however then I'd have to figure out how to edit the lineart for his misshapen hind legs.

Tell me more about rain dove?
I mean, there's not a lot more to say than what I already said. In the mid-2010s, Rain Dove was like the first like really popular nonbinary "influencer." At least, the first super popular one that I remember. They would post on insta/Twitter posts like "messages between me and the conservative woman who accused my internet presence of turning her son trans." There was one time where they alleged that they'd been pepper sprayed in a public restroom and that the person who'd done it had sent them DMs. Or people would "reach out" to them about their own experiences or asking for help to support family/friends that had come out. At one point, Rain Dove was popular enough that they got asked to do TedTalks about being nonbinary. They claimed to have gone to Berkeley for Genetic Engineering. They claimed that they were a fire fighter and fought the really bad wild fires in California. A few years later, turns out Rain totally lied about being a fire fighter, lied about going to Berkeley, lied about their degree, etc. So then it was like, "Well, if you lied about all that, what else did you lie about?" And it turns out a lot of the claims about conversations and run ins with transphobes that they allegedly had don't actually hold up under a microscope.
At one point, they'd posted an apology video, but I can't find it now (I'll post it if I find it). I guess my point is just that knowing all of that about them, it makes me wonder about their motives and the validity of some of their most recent comment, claims, and actions regarding Gaza and Palestine.
I'm not saying they're lying about anything now, but I am saying that maybe we should take what they say with a generous grain of salt and a critical lense.
EDIT: The "Exposing Myself: Sharing Secrets and Lies" video has been made private.

The Brawler (2019)
Tumblr media
While I didn't enjoy this film, that doesn't mean you won't. No matter what I say, the people involved in this project did it: they actually made a movie. That's something to be applauded. With that established...
I have an idea. Iā€™m going to tell you about 2019's The BrawlerĀ and you can tell me who you think itā€™s for. There is an audience for this movie but it's incredibly narrow, and not the one the filmmakers hoped for.
Based on the true story, Chuck Wepner (Zach McGowan) is a small-time boxer who gets the opportunity of a lifetime when Muhammad Ali (Jerrod Page) challenges him for the heavyweight championship title. His story makes him a celebrity among the locals and catches the eye of Sylvester Stallone (Anthony Mangano), who thinks it would make a great film. Unfortunately, his newfound stardom plunges Chuck into a downward spiral of substance abuse and poor decisions.
If you like the RockyĀ franchise and hope to get ā€œa little moreā€ by watching the story that inspired it, this film will disappoint you. At first, "The Brawler" follows the 1976 Oscar-winner nearly beat-for-beat with a few key differences. Firstly, Chuck is already married to Phyllis (Taryn Manning). Secondly, his rough-around-the-edges manager (Joe Pantoliano) isnā€™t all that lovable and has no memorable lines. Third and most importantly, our protagonist is 0% likeable. You have to admire the film for showing a ā€œwarts and allā€ portrait of the real-life boxer but if youā€™re going to show the manā€™s flaws and your objective isnā€™t to assassinate his characterā€¦ try to show some good facets of his personality. Sloppy, dumb, unfaithful, apparently eager to abandon his three children (I think there were three, they get so little screen time I canā€™t be sure) and always insistent that none of what happens to him is his fault, you donā€™t cheer for Chuck. Ever.
The film is fundamentally flawed in that it keeps reminding you, over and over, of two movies youā€™d rather be watching: RockyĀ and Rocky II. In fact, Chuck receives a role in Rocky IIĀ from what is undoubtedly the worst Stallone lookalike youā€™ve ever seen. Director Ken Kushner does his best - for a while - by shooting Anthony Mangano (at least 30 pounds too heavy and way too old for the part) from a distance, in a hoodie, with sunglasses or with all three but eventually, the ā€œrealā€ Rocky and the movie Rocky come face-to-face and youā€™ll be embarrassed for everyone involved. Their Mohammad Ali wasnā€™t very good. James Diian Bonavia as AndrĆ© the Giant was worse but by comparison, they're mirror images.
So is the film for boxing fans who have never seen Rocky? Maybe, as long as they can tolerate poorly choreographed and poorly shot fight scenes. The camera twists and twirls so much it could make anyone look like a prized fighter. Even with these tricks, itā€™s obvious the punches are not connecting with any force.
For drama fans, then? ā€˜Fraid not. At 95 minutes, thereā€™s too much material covered for anything to have any emotional resonance. There is no through line, no lesson for Chuck to learn and no character arcs. Itā€™s simply a checklist of events until the film ends. The conclusion is supposed to leave you feeling good but thereā€™s no way you will because itā€™s unearned. Thatā€™s how bad this film is; even if you separate yourself emotionally from the movies it reminds you of, you dislike Chuck so much you donā€™t want him to win in the end.
No one wants to see a movie about a screw-up thatā€™s not self-aware. They certainly donā€™t want to see one that's badly shot & edited, with lousy performances and a sloppy story. So who is The BrawlerĀ for? People who like comparing good and bad movies. Hereā€™s what you do. Week 1, you watch RockyĀ and the Here Comes the Boom. Now you see how a boxing underdog story can be done well, and not-so-well. Week 2, Rocky IIĀ and then The Brawler. Now you've seen how to follow up one of the greatest sports movies of all time with a solid sequel and how you REALLY shouldnā€™t tell a boxing story. (June 19, 2020)

MY NAME IS ALFRED HITCHCOCK (2022)
Featuring archival footage of Alfred Hitchcock, Carole Lombard, Julie Andrews, Sean Connery, Barbara Leigh-Hunt, Sylvia Sidney, Paul Newman, Tippi Hedren, Janet Leigh, James Mason, Grace Kelly, Shirley MacLaine, James Stewart, Bruce Dern, Doris Day, Anthony Perkins, Gregory Peck, Cary Grant, Laurence Olivier, John Wayne, Ingrid Bergman and Kim Novak.
Written by Mark Cousins.
Directed by Mark Cousins.
Distributed by Cohen Media Group. 120 minutes. Not Rated.
In the 44 years since Alfred Hitchcockā€™s death, his personal reputation has taken a bit of a beating. He has been called unusual and weird (which, honestly, was kind of his brand from the start). He has been accused of being inappropriately cruel and occasionally pervy with some of his leading ladies. Tippi Hedren in particular has accused him of sexual harassment. There are also stories of inappropriate talk on set and mistreatment of his crew. It was a different era and there were different mores, still, some of the stories sound extremely bad in the modern era.
However, no one has ever questioned the fact that Hitchcock was a fantastic filmmaker. Even his nickname ā€“ The Master of Suspense ā€“ does not quite give him enough credit for the revolutionary changes he made in cinema in a career that lasted over 50 years, in which he filmed well over 50 movies. And that isnā€™t even counting a couple of dozen early shorts and features which he wrote or co-wrote, but didnā€™t direct, or films where he worked in the art department, or even one he produced. Plus, he was the host of two television series (and directed multiple episodes) that lasted for over a decade.
My Name is Alfred Hitchcock is a documentary as an exploration of film theory and methods. And it shows, once again, that Hitchcock was not just the Master of Suspense, he was a master filmmaker and storyteller.
In the opening credits, the film says it is written and narrated by Alfred Hitchcock. It sounds just like Hitchcockā€™s very distinctive voice, and much of what is said seems to be valid to Hitchcockā€™s work. However, quickly you notice things that areā€¦ well, impossible (or at least highly unlikely) for the director to have saidā€¦ including some stuff about things that happened after his death. The film fesses up in the end credits and acknowledges that the narration was not actually written by Hitchcock (director and film historian Mark Cousins wrote it), and the directorā€™s voice is being done by British impressionist and comedian Alistair McGowan.
However, like the film says, it does not make the things you learn about Hitchcock any less real.
In My Name is Alfred Hitchcock his work is not broken down chronologically, but instead looked at thematically. In fact, the documentary is cut up into six distinct sections: Escape, Desire, Loneliness, Time, Fulfillment and Height.
During these sections multiple clips of Hitchcockā€™s classic films ā€“ like Rear Window, Vertigo, Psycho, Rope, The Lodger, as well as lesser-known works like The Pleasure Garden, The Farmerā€™s Wife, Juno & the Peacock, Torn Curtain and Family Plot ā€“ are used to demonstrate the filmmakerā€™s obsessions with these subjects, as well as the theatrical tricks which he used to convey them.
It is a deep dive into the filmmakerā€™s work, and it shows what a truly great filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock was. His quality as a man is still up for debate, but My Name is Alfred Hitchcock is proof-positive of his excellence as an artist.
