The Great Old Ones
Tumblr media
Divine Beings are split into 3 Types. Gods how rule over the aspects of the Universe, Guardians how guard them and Origins how bring new Life into the world.
The Great Old Ones are the highest of the Gods, they represent the Cycle of creation and the Balance of all Forces. Unlike the other gods who just rule over and stabilize their Domain (see here), the Great Old Ones are living embodiments of their Domains. They defined the rules of nature and can change the very fabric of the Universe, but should one of them die, creation itself might come to an end. This however is highly unlikely as they can prevent opposing Pokémon from using any Moves while in their Origin/Eternamax Forms (like Eternatus in SwSh without the help of Zacian & Zamazenta).
Eternatus black and white are technically two halves of the same being. So the legends usually speak of four great Old Ones, not five. Sometimes Bluescreen the God of Corruption is counted as a great Old One, even though he has no power over creation. (more to him later)
Because of their insane Power the Old Ones rarely interact with the universe directly, so if you ever saw one of them, it's likely that you actually only saw one of their fragments. This applies especially if you ever cought one in a Pokeball.

Anima nodded to what the Mingle had said. “Thank you for your advice. I came today to maybe get a few tipps, but you did so much more. Now I finally have a way forward. I really needed a push in the right direction.”
She gave Mingel a respectful nod and then, went on her way back to her Universe. She would have to talk to her mother about the living a lifetime as as mortal and she was not looking forward to that conversation.
Building a reaper core, was also an exellent Idea. While she had been sleeping inside her egg waiting for the day where she could hatch, she had subcontiously reached out to a pokemon sharing a bit of her power with it, but more could probably not hurt. She would have a lot of things to do, but for the first time since her birth, she felt like she could do it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Yes, I can. Go talk to them on the solstice."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"You misjudge Lucky. That would be a fatal mistake on your part. But then, you did not see his soul, nor his previous lives. Makes sense that you wouldn't understand a thing about him."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Anomaly? You're odd to say such things. I am no anomaly. Maybe to you, I suppose. But I am just me. A leader doing my job."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"The only thing I resemble with Mew is a similar body style and similar size. I am bigger than a Mew, and my skill set is the complete opposite of one of those. If anything, I am the Universe's mythical Pokémon, in a way you'd understand."
Tumblr media
"Otherwise, I am as you say. The Goddess of Spirits, even if the 'God' part is not yet official, it makes no difference in the end. I'm strong enough as I am."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Er, no. Soul Matter, that is to say, the energy that Souls are created from, was created at the dawn of the Universe along with matter and antimatter. So, just as the Universe was born, so were billions and trillions of Souls."
Tumblr media
"As you have understood from me - Souls can also be destroyed through the Red and Black Gates. Also, I can destroy a soul if I so felt like it. But, that is not my job. As it stands, Soul Matter will eventually run out in the Universe as everything falls to darkness, until the next Big Bang."
Tumblr media
"So, to answer your question - yes. New souls are born sometimes. You've already met the holder of a brand new soul: Savel."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Heh. You're funny. You're mistaken on one thing. I didn't see the Beholders reincarnate on Earth..."
"... but it was I who sent them through the green gate, at their request."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"... 'Sempai', the Kantonian word for 'teacher' or 'respected elder.' I don't mind it, though you should ask permission before calling someone such. I shall digress on this occasion, but I recommend asking in future."
Tumblr media
"The best way to learn how to reap souls is to become mortal. The lifespan I have as an immortal was not always as is - I was once mortal, and before that, I was a spirit myself."
Tumblr media
"I was born unto the world, as a mortal Mingle, and lived as one for 2 billion years. I suppose I wasn't exactly 'mortal' if I kept coming back, but alas, I had to deal with everything a mortal also has to. I had to survive. I had to feed myself. I had to live among society. I had to endure wars. I had to learn how to live amongst those whom I would someday judge. In that time, I had left my post in the hands of another."
Tumblr media
"20 years is barely enough time to scrape the surface of mortality, let alone the position you find yourself in. I worry for the state of your Universe in that sense, yet I suspect if it is as unstable as you say. Therefore, I would suggest forming allies among the spirit world. Make a reaper corporation. Those that show neutrality. Those that can judge fairly and without bias."
Tumblr media
"I wish you luck, strange one."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"It doesn't really matter how you came into existence. All lifeforms have the same basic physiology: A mortal coil, and a soul. Your kind have souls, for I've dealt with one of you in the past."
Tumblr media
"While I don't know your lifespan as you do not exist in my home universe, however, you will live and die the same way as any other mortal."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Hmm, a mortal tasked with the role of a reaper? It's not uncommon. Most of the reapers in my corps were once mortal, but are now mid to high ranking spirits. In any case, I won't answer your question because there is no point."
Tumblr media
"Your universe is your universe. My universe is my universe. My advice to you would be to investigate it yourself."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Simple. It was similar enough to Lucky's current body that wouldn't cause excessive discomfort, and also would live long enough for him to carry out his punishment."

TMM Weapon and Attack Descriptions
Small followup to the character bios post, featuring the information about each Mew Mew's weapon and attack from the 2002 Fanbook vs the TMM New Artbook (both the 2002 insert and the main section).
See the comparison chart here.
First, one BIG thing to notice right off:
Tumblr media
The '02 Fanbook actually spells the attacks as リボン/ribon instead of リボーン/riboon. This is big because there's always been debate on whether they should be transcribed as "Ribbon" (usually spelled リボン, with a shorter o) or "Reborn" (usually spelled as リボーン, with a longer o).
Tumblr media
Basically, does the stretched out o sound mean it's meant to be understood as "Reborn"? Or is it meant to be understood as each girl stretching out the first word dramatically ("Ribboooon,") before moving on to the personalized ending section. This is definitely the way they enunciate it in the anime and parallels the way other magical girl shows structure attacks (e.g., Mars... Flame Sniper, Precure... Blue Forte Wave, Hirogaru... Sky Punch). I've weighed in on this here.
So, does this settle it once and for all?
Well… not in my opinion. Like, I do still think "Ribbon" is the correct transliteration! But I don't think the Fanbook is reliable for a few reasons:
1) The editing on the Fanbook is a little spotty, so there are multiple spots of inconsistent formatting/spelling. For instance, in the charts, all items in lists are separated by interpuncts (・) except for Buling's special skills, which is separated with a comma (、). There's also a missing interpunct in the list of Retasu's favorite foods (the other girls' lists do put an interpunct on the end of a line, so it's not a purposeful choice), and Shirogane's name has a space between the kanji of his surname and given name, something done for no other names*
Tumblr media
*(Okay.... so it's also done for Buling's, but this is a real thing sometimes done for Chinese names to indicate that the surname is only one kanji instead of the 2-3 you'd expect of a Japanese surname...... But this is also changed/corrected in the New version, though, so???)
In my non-professional opinion, some of the phrasing also feels a little weird, and there's not much care put into text spacing and especially where lines break, but I'm not confident enough in my Japanese skills to state this for certain or put specific examples...
2) There is no other place where the attacks are written as リボン/ribon across the MANY places they are spelled out (e.g., the original manga, a La Mode, ReTurn, the PS game guide, character profile stickers). See above for examples!
3) Even though the TMM '02 insert in the TMM New Fanbook reuses a lot of text from the '02 Fanbook, it does NOT maintain this spelling, which suggests it was another error that was corrected.
So it's net zero information imo 🤷‍♀️
More small things under the cut:
I translated 必殺技/hissatsu waza as "finishing move". It literally means something like "certain kill technique" and is commonly translated as stuff like "special move" or "special attack" as well.
The '02 Fanbook describes the attacks in terms of what they do in universe, whereas the New Artbook describes what happens in the stock footage.
The '02 Fanbook also makes a big deal out of Ichigo's attack being the strongest and claims it's the only one that can purify a Chimera Anima and release the Parapara. It's generally true that they have to play her stock footage she has to finish off the big Chimera Anima, but the other girls consistently finish off smaller Chimera Anima, plus instances like Zakuro instantly defeating the big crow in episode 10 and all of the girls (including Pudding, somehow???) managing to defeat a bunch of big Chimera Anima at once when Pie releases them en masse as a distraction in episode 49. The '02 insert keeps the note on Ichigo's attack being able to finish off Chimera Anima but drops the "not that strong" part from the descriptions of the non-Ichigo girls and even adds that Zakuro's attack is "strong enough to surprise/frighten Quiche". The New artbook has no mention of any one girl's attack being more powerful.
The descriptions of the attacks kind of back up my claim that none of the girls except Lettuce have an elemental attack and are instead all light-based and separated by range:
Ichigo: balls of light; final blow on Chimera Anima Mint: arrow of light; ranged attack Lettuce: stream of water; attacks multiple enemies at once Pudding: wave of light that turns into "pudding"; captures enemy Zakuro: whip of light; can be used close or far away, can bind enemies, can cut into pocket dimensions somehow
...Zakuro is clearly way too OP, since she can essentially copy the effects of Mint, Lettuce, AND Pudding's attacks plus having dimensional powers. I mean, the "cutting through dimensions" thing is way outside the range of the other Mews' powers??? And it shows up so little...
Speaking of Zakuro, the New version eliminates the space-cutting power but also describes her weapon as a cross with a ribbon attached to the end instead of as a whip! (It does say she uses it like a whip in the attack description...) She does move it like a rhythmic gymnastics ribbon a little even in her original attack footage, but it's kind of funny to insist the ZaCross Whip isn't a whip!
They sure are caught up on how Lettuce can use her attack even when tied up since she only has to move her fingers. A situation which only happens once.
I find it a little funny that they never really acknowledge how all of the weapons are based on musical instruments. The LettuceTanets are obviously called castanets, and the StrawBell Bell is noted to have a bell attached, but only the the New fanbook calls Mint's weapon "lyre-shaped" instead of "bow and arrow-shaped". Not once are the PuRing Rings compared to a tambourine (although New does mention the bell) or the ZaCross Whip to a flute.
Confirmed that in the anime Buling's attack is not literal pudding but rather something that looks like it. (The manga is still a toss up considering we see it being eaten...)
The difference in phrasing between the '02 Fanbook and the New insert is pretty funny. プリンのようなもの / purin no youna mono, "a thing/object/substance that's like pudding" vs プリン状の物体 / purin-jou no buttai, "a solid object in the form/appearance of pudding". Puddingy thing vs physical object in the form of pudding.

new tmm ship just dropped
so in my brain it goes like this: hime was injected before the main mews but wants to be a loner; she doesn’t like working with teams— after she saw her now ex-boyfriend her hurt by chimera animas, she isolated herself from even him without telling him she was a mew mew. And she doesn’t much like the way Ryou does things, either. The problem is, her loner act causes a lot of trouble for the main team. Zakuro? Sees a lot of herself in this firecracker girl who hides behind a mischievous persona. they might even have history-- when Zakuro was in her 'loner girl' era Hime might have proposed a partnership, and is now jealous Zakuro is with the mews and not her...👀
This version of Azumi is pretty headcanon-y, personality wise, because in the one shot we really don't get a lot to work with and I wanted her to be distinct, personality wise, from Ichigo, and still keep the 'girl who works alone and has fireworks powers' in tact. LOVE a chaotic girl with some edge. In my mind she could even be something like a rogue phantom thief type character.
should this ship be called princess pomegranate, or ZaZumi?? 🤔
btw, speedpaint to test clip studio's timelapse feature! u can all see how messy my workflow is kjdhkf (would u guys be interested in longer videos for bigger illustrations? :0 now that I know how it works I def wouldnt mind recording more)

While Ringo is relatively easy to insert into the New canon (as her story is meant to be a side installment to the main timeline), Berry is a more complicated case to implement.
In the original manga, Berry is brought in to be the temporary leader after Ichigo leaves Japan to support Masaya in his overseas studies. In New, Ichigo remains in her home country to become Japan's environmental ambassador and Minto stays on as the Mew Mews' leader.
As Berry stumbled on the injector device at close range, she apparently has no Mew Mark canonically which would mean creating a transformation for her difficult as the other girls' henshins are activated by them.
The aliens never appear once in A La Mode while New's finale shows them visiting Earth on a regular basis. Continuing a New adaptation for A La Mode that incorporates them with an active role in the story would require careful balancing between the trio and Berry intergrating with her new teammates.
The antagonists of A La Mode, The Saint Rose Crusaders don't really make much sense in hindsight. The design of the leader and the group's motivation doesn't really make much sense with the discarding of the environmental theme of the original series. There's also the fact that there's a number of Chimera Anima parasites still around in A La Mode which isn't a thing by New's end.
The finale arc of A La Mode has the Mew Mews become popular on social media which was only starting to come into its' own during the early 2000s. This would clash heavily with New's storyline where social media and the Mew Mews are more prevelant than in the 2000s.

THEME: Anime
This week’s recommendations are all anime-inspired games! From Parasite to JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, to Mew Mew Power, these games give you awesome powers, emotional turmoil, and the bonds of friendship!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over Arms, by Rookie Jet Studio.
Over Arms is a rules-light tabletop pen-and-paper role-playing game designed to replicate media like JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Persona, FATE, Shaman King and more. Over Arms is set in a world where select people are able to develop an "Anima", a powerful psychic manifestation of their own psyche and will. These "Anima" are able to  assist their "User" in a myriad of ways in and out of combat based on the strengths of their individually unique abilities. In Over Arms players can expect to weave stories of mystery and intrigue as they discover this new world around them and within.
Over Arms provides players with loosely structured play in order to help the table navigate different parts of the narrative, including investigation, combat and a Conclusion phase. Players will also control their Anima alongside their player character, with separate abilities and actions only available for the Anima. Character creation includes dice allocation to stats and character classes called Anima Type. An additional piece that you can include is called “The Mirage”, designed for a dungeon-crawling style of game, where you can fight strange and powerful foes. The fact that the Mirage is optional means that this ttrpg has a modular feel that allows you to determine exactly how you want to play.
If you want to check out this game before putting your money down, you can take a look at the Quickstart rules!
My Friends Are My Strength, by Peizur.
My Friends Are My Strength is a PbtA RPG where players use powers to overcome threats thrown at them, form meaningful bonds that serve as the foundation of their strength, and try to achieve a goal that means more to them than life itself.
If you like the idea of solving your problem with the power of friendship, this is the game for you. Rather than giving you pre-arranged playbooks, My Friends Are My Strength gives you the pieces and asks you to create a custom playbook for the character that you want to play. One of my favourite elements is a character element called Plot Armour. Your Protagonist gets 3 uses of Plot Armour, which allows you to turn any roll into a 12+ after the fact. Use up all of your Plot Armour? The Director is now able to end your storyline. It’s a powerful ability, so use it wisely!
There looks to be a Kickstarter in the works for this game, but for now, the Itch.io page for this game is Pay-What-You-Want.
Never Knows Best, by Fraser Simons (Samjoko Publishing).
Never Knows Best is inspired by an anime called FLCL (Fooly Cooly) and wears this influence on its sleeve. This game and its rules focus on my own interpretation of the source material, rather than attempting to emulate the anime as closely as possible.
Never Knows Best (NKB) is a roleplaying game about middle school kids facing impending adulthood, growing up, and society’s—sometimes nonsensical—expectations and obligations. It’s designed for three-five players plus a game master (GM) who facilitates the game.
While this game is still technically in ashcan edition, it certainly doesn’t look like it. The playbooks immediately communicate the emotions sitting inside each archetype, and the rulebook is just over 50 pages long. The core concept of this game is that your children have the ability to transform into robots that reflect their unique personalities and skills, which enable them in fighting monsters that represent society’s obligations. There is also still room for the table to define exactly what they’re fighting against, and how their counter-culture manifests. The rules are Powered by the Apocalypse, which I think makes so much sense considering the heavily emotional themes of this book. If you’re interested in stories about pre-teens grappling with an adult world that expects them to simply fit in, paired with giant metaphorical action scenes, this game is definitely worth checking out.
This World Summons Too Many Heroes!, by Nick Duff.
This World Summons Too Many Heroes!! is a tabletop rpg about regular people being pulled into a fantasy world to become heroes, demon lords, goblins, talking swords, or any kind of adventurer you could think of! Go on an isekai adventure in the Kingdoms of Ceria, where summoning scrolls have been scattered across the countryside and people are recklessly using them to steal people from other worlds and bring them into this one with new powers gifted to them by a goddess of reincarnation.
Built on LUMEN, this game’s main focus in power-fantasy combat, with unique abilities for each class and a modular weapon-building system that allows you to create the anime protagonist of your dreams. Your party also has a clearly defined quest - collecting summoning scrolls - that fills in the awkward part of trying to sort out what it is you actually want to do in this game, while also giving you the ability to play each session like the episode of an anime, with each summoning scroll potentially being related to a unique villain or NPC. If you love fantastical anime, you should take a look at this game.
Empty Cycle, by Rookie Jet Studio.
EMPTY CYCLE focuses on the mental and existential issues of being a teenager and growing to maturity in a boring town where there is nothing to do. EMPTY CYCLE draws heavily upon the melancholy and existential crises we face as teenagers in such a place and uses these focal points of loneliness, uncertainty, and sadness in order to craft a meaningful and action-packed journey.
Suddenly, everything changes when otherworldly beings known as "Parasites" arrive on earth and begin to affix themselves to our protagonists in order to survive. Parasites are humanoid, planet-hopping alien beings that are able to take on a new human form based on their hosts Complex, Emotions and Desires, often using an attractive appearance to persuade and influence their hosts for a mutual gain between the two life forms.
Another game by Rookie Jet Studio, Empty Cycle also gives your characters unique and fantastic powers, but places the game in a much more terrifying setting. The stakes are big, and the monsters bigger. I can see a character being forced to grapple with changes in their bodies that they might appreciate and despise at the same time.
Mew Mew Magic, by Alice V.
Mew Mew Magic is a collaborative storytelling game for 2-6 people using the No Dice, No Masters system. It is a game about young magical heroes who have to worry about school, saving the day, and their magical destinies. Inspired by shows like Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, Winx, and Pretty Cure.
Speak directly to the young child watching Saturday morning cartoons with this game. If I remember correctly, No Dice No Masters is another term for the Belonging Outside Belonging system, by Avery Alder. This means that this game is designed to be played without dice, but also as the option to play without a GM. This means that the setting elements of the world are co-designed and co-directed by the group, rather than sitting solely on the shoulders of one person. I love the colour-themed playbooks in this game, it vividly reminds me of Tokyo Mew Mew and other similar Magical-girl themed shows I watched in my youth.
If you're interested in more Magical Girl-themed games, you can also take a look at my Magical Girl ttrpg recommendation post!

Thoughts about Tokyo Mew Mew (2002)!
Tumblr media
Tokyo Mew Mew is my most recent anime watch. I watched it to expand (even more) my magical girl knowledge. It was never dubbed to Latin American Spanish (as far as I know), so there's no element of nostalgia to my feelings about the show. Also, I hadn't developed object permanence in 2002, so I wouldn't have been watching anime anyway. I haven't read the manga or watched the newer version. I watched around two episodes, but I didn't like it enough to continue.
In short, I didn't love Tokyo Mew Mew. Mostly because I am not part of the target audience. The plot, the dialogue, it's all kinda flat and designed to be easy to follow for children. I believe it might be better enjoyed if you are around 11 or 13 years old. Under the cut, you can read some specific thoughts I had about the things I liked or didn't like.
Thanks for reading!
-Let's begin with the stuff I didn't like: the art style. Colors are way too saturated. The chimera anima creature design looks rushed... The proportions of the characters are inconsistent. Sometimes their eyes and hair are huge. I don't think the Mew Mew costumes are ugly, but they aren't pretty either. They are ok. The girls have appealing enough designs. Now, the guys. Damn, aren't they ugly? What do you mean the girls are constantly blushing or having crushes on these guys? None of them have appealing designs. The only one who is nice to look at is Aoyama.
-Again, the plot and themes are quite superficial. There are hints of deeper themes that never get developed. They want Zakuro to be an emotionally intelligent character, but most times she's only pointing out obvious stuff that the rest of the characters are too stupid to get. She had a point when she mentions how they are being forced to be Mew Mews, but she ends up joining the team very easily and the topic is forgotten.
-The guys, again, are so creepy sometimes. I am not even talking about Kishu, he is supposed to be creepy, I know. I'm talking about the blonde guy and the butler guy whose names I didn't care to learn. Especially around the episodes that revolve around Ichigo turning into a cat. What do you mean they are just allowed to say they will 'help her de-transform'? Ugh.
-Now, things I'm neutral about but want to mention: I really thought the blonde guy and the butler guy would be gay for each other. I was expecting a Touya/Yukito dynamic from them. They even had to have an episode making clear the butler is attracted to women. Haha, funny.
-One detail I found satisfying is that the passing of time is consistent. In one episode, they are celebrating Christmas and some episodes later they are celebrating Valentine's Day. Nice.
-The opening and ending songs are cool.
-I didn't love it, but I still liked it better than the newer version.
-Things I liked: Aoyama! The concept behind his character is really cool. It wasn't executed in a particularly good way, but I really appreciate the ideas behind it. His design is so generic and inofensive that you think there is no way he'll be relevant to the fight later on. They even foreshadow Deep Blue a bit when Aoyama expresses his slightly eco-fascistic views on humanity. I like that he admired Ichigo the same way Ichigo admired him from afar. His monologue about being bored and tired of pretending to be a perfect kid to avoid disappointing the people around him… unexpectedly relatable and sad to be in this show.
-Also, Ichigo and Aoyama's relationship is very wholesome. No drama, no misunderstandings, no secrets kept for long to create cheap drama. It felt refreshing to watch a romance between two kids just trying their best to be good to one another, and creating conflict for them in other ways. Very nice.
-Zakuro is the coolest Mew Mew, Mint is my favorite, but Pudding is the best. Sorry Lettuce, I kind of don't care about you.
-Mint is my favorite because she is a mean, spoiled, rich girl who learns to accept that she wants friends, to be loved, and to fight alongside others. And my brain just automatically roots for those kinds of characters. Mint even gets to telenovela-slap the main character to remind her of what is important. I have to accept it… that's cinema… Also, she's a lesbian.
-Pudding is the best character. That episode where she's sick, and it's revealed she provides for and takes care of her siblings all on her own… It's probably one of the best episodes of the whole show. It reframes how we met her as a street performer asking Ichigo for money. Ah, and she cries while asking the nearest adult if she can call her mom for a moment… Again, unexpectedly mature coming from this show.
And... I think that's all! Thanks for reading if you made it this far ^^

Tales of Origin
Part 3: Anima
Tumblr media
When Azazel and Gaia created the Origin, they brought live into their Universe. And as always with these things, live has to come to an end one day. So Gaia dedicated the Ethereal, as a place were the dead could go to reenter the Soul cycle and prepare for their next incarnation. But the cycle was not complete, with Gaia and Azazel as Incarnates of begining and existence, there was still one Old One missing. There was no Incarnate of endings.
Gaia knew that this was a problem, Gods are supposed to be physical representations of their Domains and stabilize the naturally chaotic nature of the Universe, but the Old Ones hold even greater power. They each are Incarnates of one part of the circle of Existence and without even one of them, the very Cycle of Reality becomes undone, new things struggle to begin, existence becomes uncertain or things can't come to a proper end.
And so Gaia went into the Distortion, the last of the Planes of existence, created by Giratina to shield the Universe from itself and to contain the powerful Cucible. She asked Giratina for help, since he had been a god connected with death and endings it the previous Universe. But since Gaias power had waned from creating the Origin, they couldn't just create a new God like they had before, they would need to let it grow like a mortal.
So they choose to replicate the method of how Pokemon reproduce and combined their Infinity Energy to form an Egg, which should hatch the last Old One. The process worked and an egg was created unlike any other that had ever been or would ever be. And Gaia took the egg back with her to the Material, to incubate it and the Universe waited patiently for it's last great Old One, the Incarnate of Ending.
But a Problem unforeseen by Gaia soon manifested. The egg, having come from two beings not originally from this Universe, was rejected by creation and thus unable to hatch. On top of that the Being forming inside was a Hybrid of Gaia and Giratina, which were not supposed to exist in this World, as Gaia had seen the impact of such beings in her old Universe.
And so the last Old One, Anima as Gaia had wanted to name her, could not hatch from it's egg and while her soul having formed already meant that the cycle was at least partailly closed, without her hatching the path for souls to the afterlife was still obstructed. Gaia not wanting to go against her own Domain of creation, didn't try to force the egg to hatch, but she also feared starting over, as destroying an Old one could have unforeseen consequences.
Gaia had only two choices, start over and face the consequences or wait and look for an alternative way, she chose the later. So Anima could not hatch and close the cycle of live and over the 3.5 Billion years, she waited the cycle corrupted. With the path to the afterlife obstructed, many souls got stuck and lingered in the material, where they interacted with thier surroundings, which spooked the still living and pulled the Ethereal closer to the Material. As a result Spirit Vortexes started to appear in the Material.
In an attempt to stabilize the cycle Eternatus, Incarnate of Balance, took hold of the Nexus of Ending and created a new Pokémon type, the Ghost-type, in order to bind the lost Souls back to the Material and stop the Ethereal from moving towards the Material. These Ghost-types, had usually died but came back as new Pokemon, thus skiping the Nexus of ending and completing the cycle. Animas soul also used this incident to reach out to a living being and create the first Reaper. But this could only be a temorary fix, the Universe needed it's last Old One.
Then as things seemed dire, finally Gaia found a way to solve this Problem without starting over. But for that she would need to rely on the power of an other being, though that is a story for another time.

Can you please tell me all about Tokyo Mew Mew? It looks adorable and I saw that you watched it so...
Go on, my friend. If you get the time, please tell me everything!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Omg omg omg. I love you whoever you are for asking about this. So Tokyo Mew Mew is the first anime I watched before I knew what anime was. I watched it on a channel called Pop Girl. The dubbed version is called Mew Mew Power. So I knew it as that. I never finished the anime until I was a lot older because they stopped dubbing it at the 26th episode. So I didn't know it was an anime until I caught up with Fairy Tail, just before fairy tail 2014 came out. I was recommended by a friend to watch Fairy Tail so that was how I was introduced to the world of anime. Anyway I was going through a list of what animes to watch and there it was. Tokyo Mew Mew. My mind was blown that I had actually watched anime before. So I finished it in subbed because I thought it was just a normal show that was cancelled when I was a kid. When actually it was just that they stopped dubbing. Anyway.
So Tokyo Mew Mew is in the magical girl genre. It follows five girls who originally don't know each other who have been mutated with rare animal DNAs. (In order of introduction) Ichigo (Zoey) with the DNA of Iriomote Cat, Minto (carina) with the DNA of a Blue Lorikeet, Retasu (Bridget) with the DNA of a Finless Porpoise, Bu-Ling (Kikki) with the DNA of Golden Lion Tamarin and Zakuro (Renee) who has the DNA of a Grey Wolf.
So they become superheros who have the abilities of said animals. When in their transformations Ichigo becomes Mew Strawberry, Minto becomes Mew Mint, Retasu become Mew Lettuce, Bu-Ling becomes Mew Pudding and Retasu becomes Mew Pomegranate.
So the plot is that there are Aliens (Kisshu, Pie and Tart) that have come to Earth wishing to reclaim it for their kind, as they lived on earth 3 million years ago but had to leave because of a series of disasters nearly led to their extinction. Later they return to Earth and see that humans have taken over. They feel that humans are destroying the planet so they release Para Paras which are octopus like creatures that fuse with animals and create monsters called Chimera Animas. The Aliens want the monsters to speed up the destruction of earth to wipe out the human race so they can come back. In the anime they also added that the Para Paras can fuse with the soul of a human and plants as well. But in the manga it's only animals.
So, because of this threat two men called Ryou and Keiichiro carry on the work of one of their fathers I can't remember who and learn how to fuse the DNA of red data animals (endangered) with human DNA as they are the only animals that can't be fused with Para Paras. The five girls are chosen because their DNA is the most compatible with the five red data animals. Ryou and Keiichiro built a cafe where the girls will work as their cover. But the cafe is really their headquarters.
The anime is basically the Ichigo looking for the other 4 mews and protecting the world from the monsters. It's honestly such a a cute and fun anime. I recommend. I haven't watched the reboot yet but I am rewatching the original anime as we speak.
I'm gonna get back into cosplay and I'm gonna cosplay as Ichigo because of how much I loved and still love her.

Can I just say this whole sequence in the anime is so beautiful. Ichigo is so beautiful. (Above)

The stakes of TMMN’s Final Battle
So this episode was definitely one of the best of the reboot so far, but what got me invested in the final battle is the stakes at hand here.
Tumblr media
So the aliens’ endgame is to alter the plate tectonics of the Earth so then can restore Pangaea and go back to the good old days before the humans appeared. But then there’s the problem... that action will alter the planet’s ecosystems forever, and thus causing a mass extinction that can  rival the Great Dying in the amount of life that disappeared.
Now, the obvious thing that’ll happen is humans will die off due to many major cities getting destroyed when this Neo-Pangaea is formed, especially cities that appeared on recent islands like Iceland and Hawaii. Speaking about that... many volcanic islands like those two and Japan will cease to exist along with the Himalaya Mountains, so congratulations, life on those islands are gone! But wait, there’s more! The oceans will be merged into a Neo-Panthalassa, so many coral reefs will cease to exist and thousands upon thousands of marine species will die because of this.
And not just that! With the fusion of all of the major continents, then species will go into environments they didn’t evolve in to disrupt them on a scale far worse than any invasive species. And since Antarctica isn’t frozen over yet... well, RIP the penguins.
Now, I know some will say what if some species survive... to which I counter with the Aliens turning them into Chimera Animas So yeah, if the Mew Mews fail to defeat Deep Blue... Congratulations! You get to see Earth destroyed in ways you couldn’t imagine and thus the aliens are worse than humans when it comes to the environmental damage!
(Huh, this gives me an idea for my Prehistoric Mew Mew plot bunny... )

Wolfs Instinct: ZakuMint one shot
Written by SugoiGrove (me)
The hustle and bustle of cafe mew mew was growing steadily everyday. Things were busier than usual and that went double for chimera anima attacks.
To broken glass and Retasu’s muttering apologies, to Purins dinner and entertainment. The place didn’t change.
Giving a side glance, the strawberry haired waitress had a displeased look on her face. One she always wore but it was more intense. As Ichigo held a full tray in her hands, she tried not to let her sour attitude spoil the sweetness of the parfait on her tray. Staring at Mint while customers were trying to flag her down, Ichigo huffed.
The high class lady sat at her table with a calm exterior. Drawing out her porcelain tea cup, she lifted the cup to her mouth with her pinky to hover just below. Sighing with an amount of satisfaction, she let the warm sensation of the tea refresh her.
“Mint!” Ichigo hissed as she barged up to the table. As Ichigo hounded Mint for slacking especially during such a busy day, the lavender haired waitress walked out from the kitchen with a full tray in hand.
As her eyes skimmed the floor, she spotted Ichigo nagging Mint like the usual. Zakuro’s performance in the cafe wasn’t spectacular but she worked hard. With a stoic look on her face, she walked up to a table with an order. The customers silenced their conversation as Zakuro’s uncomfortable glares made their stomach churn.
Muttering a nervous greeting, Zakuro placed the dessert on the table and walked away. Overhearing some unusual chatter from another table, she stopped to peer at a table with two males dressed in school uniforms.
Spying on them from afar, they had an odd smile about them. As they threw glances occasionally in a certain direction, Zakuro glanced at their curiosity. Staring across the room, Ichigo badgering Mint about her tea time was what caught the two males attention.
Staring at their body language, it was clear to her that they were curious about the navy blue haired girl. Staring back and forth between Mint and the school boys, Zakuro felt a strange feeling overcome her.
Finally, after Ichigo’s constant nagging, Mint set down her cup of tea and pulled out from her table.
“Fine, if it’ll get you to stop bugging me. Besides, seeing Oneesama work so hard has me motivated!” She added with a gleam in her eye.
“Whatever puts you to work” Ichigo sighed. As Mint picked up a tray, she was suddenly flagged down by the innocent school boys.
“Miss!” They exclaimed. As Mint took notice of the customer, she put on service with a smile and went to work (for once)
As Zakuro looked upon their nervous smiles as Mint took their order, she felt an odd twinge in her eye.
“Zakuro..” Ichigo added nervously. Ichigo, Purin and Retasu stared at her as she exuded a fearsome aura.
“Ichigo” Zakuro added with a deep voice. Ichigo flinched from having been called in such a deep voice. “Can you help me with something?”
Meanwhile, Mint was flustered at the customers advances but tried to stay neutral.
“Do you have a boyfriend?”
“Can I have your number”
Those were certain advances Mint wasn’t particularly used to. During her dance performances, she had fans and people who looked at her with adoration. But none so forward as them.
Denying more advances, Mint was starting to get a little annoyed. Mint wasn’t afraid to kick someone out for misbehaving but surely that would be the last resort.
“Is there anything on the menu you’d like?” She asked.
“That depends” The school boy added “Are you-“
The conversation was suddenly put to a scary halt as a tray slammed on the surface of the table. The school boys looked on nervously as Mint was quite stunned for words.
With an eerie glare in her eye, Zakuro had slammed on the table what appeared to be two parfaits dressed in an odd sauce.
“O-oneesama?” Mint inquired. It took a lot of strength out of Zakuro to not go full mew mew and kick them out.
“Here you go. Two mayonnaise and ketchup parfaits” Zakuro added with a monotone voice. The two boys were honestly too scared and confused to argue with her as she looked as if she could break their limbs.
“Eh?” Mint inquired.
“W-we didn’t order-“
“It’s on the house” She snapped as she glared daggers at them. The two boys looked on with disgust at the parfait, but too afraid to say no, they quietly thanked her.
As Zakuro turned away from the table, Mint looked back at the boys to see them forcing down a parfait with sour condiments. Meanwhile, Zakuro glanced at the other girls who witnessed the whole thing.
“Ichigo, did you have anything to do with that?” Retasu asked. The strawberry haired girl winked and shushed.
“Zakuro-neechan is jealous~!” Purin exclaimed out loud.
Meanwhile, Mint was absolutely flabbergasted at the scene that just unfolded. Mint however, paid no attention to the two boys who were clearly struggling to keep down the odd flavoured parfait.

Tuesday: Adventure | Favourite Episode
Please excuse Jeffrey's messiness, I dont exactly draw fish often.
Anyway this is from a crossover AU, the Tokyo Mew Mew one. The premise of it is that the aliens in TMM are descended from Lemurians who escaped into space before the cataclysm that took out the city scattered what was left of its people. Jeffrey's been turned into a Chimera Anima here, but because he's bonded so strongly to Ant he's kept control of himself and Proteus' attempt to take the Nektons out has failed spectacularly.
