The Great Old Ones

Divine Beings are split into 3 Types. Gods how rule over the aspects of the Universe, Guardians how guard them and Origins how bring new Life into the world.

The Great Old Ones are the highest of the Gods, they represent the Cycle of creation and the Balance of all Forces. Unlike the other gods who just rule over and stabilize their Domain (see here), the Great Old Ones are living embodiments of their Domains. They defined the rules of nature and can change the very fabric of the Universe, but should one of them die, creation itself might come to an end. This however is highly unlikely as they can prevent opposing Pokémon from using any Moves while in their Origin/Eternamax Forms (like Eternatus in SwSh without the help of Zacian & Zamazenta).

Eternatus black and white are technically two halves of the same being. So the legends usually speak of four great Old Ones, not five. Sometimes Bluescreen the God of Corruption is counted as a great Old One, even though he has no power over creation. (more to him later)

Because of their insane Power the Old Ones rarely interact with the universe directly, so if you ever saw one of them, it's likely that you actually only saw one of their fragments. This applies especially if you ever cought one in a Pokeball.

Gaia Creates a bubble of Energie around the corruption as she took it, it had already changed it's shape. Then she smiled at the Missingno.

Oh no, it's fine, I'm used to the sight. Blue Screen tends to do this all the time. He somehow managed to glitch out his arms entirely and can seem to get them back so now he uses some robotic ones instead.

Her gaze wandered the room for a Moment, the she looked back at Alaxia. You have my thanks, Alaxia. That is your name right? I don't think I ever asked, my abilities sometimes make me a bit rude. I apologize for that.

She let the bubble beside her slip into a small pocket-dimension. You probably don't want anyone to see this and I should not touch it directly. Give that Arceus of yours my regards, it's not often that I get to hear of someone as incompetent.

She turned to leave, but looked back one more time. Oh and feel free to visit my Universe sometime. I'm sure Blue Screen would be thrilled to meet you. As long as you behave yourself of course. He doesn't often get to meet others of his kind.

With that Gaia, leaves Alaxia behind to go look for Anima.

Alaxia does not interrupt Gaia at all while she speaks He nods along with his eyes closed, attempting to memorize what she was saying to him. This information was vital to him, so he wanted to show as much respect as possible as he listened. She made a few points he hadn't entirely thought of, she was correct. He probably would have a bit of a target on his back once things were done. He makes mental notes of precautions he could take. Once she finished speaking, he reopens his eyes and looks at her with a thankful smile

Alaxia leaves the strange orb alone for a moment, not entirely wanting to accept it until the bargain was fulfilled. That would be rude. He takes a small step back, glancing around him to make sure nobody was paying much attention. Thankfully, he was in a more secluded area from everyone else. He scans the area for prying eyes just in case, double checking to make sure that Etoile was nowhere in sight. Once the coast is clear, he positions himself straight and takes a small inhale

The mew's arm suddenly jerks and cracks unnaturally It constantly snapping back and forth in a chaotic manner. Glitch particles surrounding the area of his arm, flickering in and out. Despite this sight, the mew seemed to show no real pain or discomfort of this action. It was all familiar to him by this point. The arm finally creates one last loud S N A P The mew's arm had become deformed. Sharpened even Somewhat reminiscent of a skeletonized claw of a kabutops.. Alaxia raises the claw up near his face, showing a corrupted object floating were his palm would have been.

The strange object continuously glitches in and out of existence, but manages to hold shape enough. It mostly remains rectangular in shape, but one every so often morphs into another. Particles continue to float around it as it emits a white-ish glow. Alaxia holds out his now scythe like arm, offering it to Gaia. Despite the odd appearance and dramatic change of half his body, he remains genuinely friendly. Alaxia: It's all yours~ Alaxia: Do let me know if this is enough however. I can give more, but I just didn't want to accidentally warp the room around us or get any unsightly gazes.

Urain Origins, Begin | Next

Base Origins

This took longer than intended to finish as I'm still not sure how I want to do backgrounds, my methods may change as I go on. Let me know if any dialogue is too difficult to read.

Before anything, I wanted to work on a quick relationship diagram to keep on track myself and to give some more context behind relationships for everyone else! please enjoy!

The Absol's name is Icarus, the Diancie is Diantha, and the twins down there are Data and Slinky respectively!

I finally got the motivation to design my own takes on Missingno and an ancient mew! They’re still kind of rough in concept, but I really like them!

So the first design is the ancient, or in my universe, a “first generation” Mew. Gaia is the last Mew of their kind and is about as old as the universe itself. One would expect that seeing the other mews of their kind slowly move on would affect them, but it doesn’t seem to. Gaia is quite the cheerful soul with a childish demeanor, being quite immature for their age. (Likely an unhealthy coping mechanism)

They prefer to watch what they helped create develop instead of taking a hands on approach anymore. Their power has diminished with age, but they are still quite powerful and like to mess around with humans or other creatures with it. Gaia’s fondness for humans is a bit uncommon among first generation Mews, but it’s preferable to them absolutely hating them.

Now it’s time to introduce my universe’s version of Missingno (once again inspired by @phlurrii’s Missingno and Pokemon Infinite Fusion)

Missingno, or MIS, is a severely glitched Porygon that was made this way due to someone finding and installing an out of universe Dubious Disc. While it would normally mess Porygon up, the unfamiliar disc caused the Porygon to gain unnatural data and become extremely unstable. To save it, Gaia made MIS organic by giving it a soul and turning the Porygon into a natural Pokémon, not a digital one.

However, MIS still doesn’t know what Pokémon it is as it all the data of the original 151 Kanto Pokémon in it. So it doesn’t have a set form, but it seems to prefer to take the form of an Eevee. Some of their digital mechanics still exist, so their forms are extremely glitched. Still better than being a blob of nothing though.

So I have a rough idea for how “Ancient Mew” (called “origin mew) and mews function in my world.

Things would stay mostly the same game and lore wise. Arceus creates Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina to create this universe and Origin Mew, the original Mew, is tasked with populating everything. However, they are not allowed to actually “create” anything. They had to create things based of what Arceus, Dialga, and Palkia created. After the base species were created, the Origin Mew’s job was to make sure that everything remained “stable”.

Origin Mew was saddened by the idea of never being able to create something for itself. Even the later Mews were demanded by Arceus. Over the billions of years, it gradually stepped back and let the other Mews take its job of establishing pokemon and helping the other legendaries create new legendaries/mythicals.

The “baseline” pokemon were only the first few generations before they began to be able to thrive on their own, with the occasional help to make sure that the species lived on. Legendaries/mythicals could only be created if it was created in collaboration of another legendary and Mew.

Now, the Origin is considered just a story to even other mews. It still exists, as it resides on Earth due to having a strange fondness for humans. The Origin Mew stayed mostly dormant and hidden, until Mewtwo was created. It knew that it shouldn’t save the creature, Mewtwo was destined to fail like the other clones. Though, seeing it as its child and only true creation , it gave it the gift to be able thrive.

My idea for this is that Origin Mew is sort of apathetic, but not cruel. It enjoys watching humans as they change and evolve while caring for the Mewtwos that they created. In fact, it may appreciate humans for giving them the thing that they always wanted.

Again, this is just a rough outline of what I’ve thought up and would serve as a starting point for a couple of stories that I wanna tell. Feel free to give me some feedback as well! It’s always appreciated!

Anatomy of a Wyrmling!!!

A bit of explanation about the Wyrmlings, aka, the Baby Giratina of my Obsidian Mew AU.

So! To start with, the babies are not physical beings. Rather, they're energy beings, formed from Ruler's power, and gain experience and grow inside the Distortion Realm. They start real itty bitty, about a foot long, and grow slowly. They look and feel like smoke, and their wings and spikes are simply mimics of Ruler and their older siblings' shells.

What do they eat, you may ask?

Well, they eat energy!!! :D

That's right, these little guys love to eat energy! Gaia energy is tasty, but they love to eat corrupted energy! They're able to consume and convert it safely into their own bodies, which let's them grow their physical shells as they age. They're like cleaner fish, nibbling off the bad energy from older siblings that come back to the realm, or nibble from portals and pools as they can't leave the Distortion Realm.

They would dissipate if they did, their bodies unable to differentiate between their "selves" and the "world". Without an achor they'd return to being plain old energy. Older Giratina gain a physical shell which protects them from that, but it takes about 50 or so years for that to form naturally.

There are exceptions, but it's mainly a difference of experience gaining.

Tales of Origin

Part 3: Anima

When Azazel and Gaia created the Origin, they brought live into their Universe. And as always with these things, live has to come to an end one day. So Gaia dedicated the Ethereal, as a place were the dead could go to reenter the Soul cycle and prepare for their next incarnation. But the cycle was not complete, with Gaia and Azazel as Incarnates of begining and existence, there was still one Old One missing. There was no Incarnate of endings.

Gaia knew that this was a problem, Gods are supposed to be physical representations of their Domains and stabilize the naturally chaotic nature of the Universe, but the Old Ones hold even greater power. They each are Incarnates of one part of the circle of Existence and without even one of them, the very Cycle of Reality becomes undone, new things struggle to begin, existence becomes uncertain or things can't come to a proper end.

And so Gaia went into the Distortion, the last of the Planes of existence, created by Giratina to shield the Universe from itself and to contain the powerful Cucible. She asked Giratina for help, since he had been a god connected with death and endings it the previous Universe. But since Gaias power had waned from creating the Origin, they couldn't just create a new God like they had before, they would need to let it grow like a mortal.

So they choose to replicate the method of how Pokemon reproduce and combined their Infinity Energy to form an Egg, which should hatch the last Old One. The process worked and an egg was created unlike any other that had ever been or would ever be. And Gaia took the egg back with her to the Material, to incubate it and the Universe waited patiently for it's last great Old One, the Incarnate of Ending.

But a Problem unforeseen by Gaia soon manifested. The egg, having come from two beings not originally from this Universe, was rejected by creation and thus unable to hatch. On top of that the Being forming inside was a Hybrid of Gaia and Giratina, which were not supposed to exist in this World, as Gaia had seen the impact of such beings in her old Universe.

And so the last Old One, Anima as Gaia had wanted to name her, could not hatch from it's egg and while her soul having formed already meant that the cycle was at least partailly closed, without her hatching the path for souls to the afterlife was still obstructed. Gaia not wanting to go against her own Domain of creation, didn't try to force the egg to hatch, but she also feared starting over, as destroying an Old one could have unforeseen consequences.

Gaia had only two choices, start over and face the consequences or wait and look for an alternative way, she chose the later. So Anima could not hatch and close the cycle of live and over the 3.5 Billion years, she waited the cycle corrupted. With the path to the afterlife obstructed, many souls got stuck and lingered in the material, where they interacted with thier surroundings, which spooked the still living and pulled the Ethereal closer to the Material. As a result Spirit Vortexes started to appear in the Material.

In an attempt to stabilize the cycle Eternatus, Incarnate of Balance, took hold of the Nexus of Ending and created a new Pokémon type, the Ghost-type, in order to bind the lost Souls back to the Material and stop the Ethereal from moving towards the Material. These Ghost-types, had usually died but came back as new Pokemon, thus skiping the Nexus of ending and completing the cycle. Animas soul also used this incident to reach out to a living being and create the first Reaper. But this could only be a temorary fix, the Universe needed it's last Old One.

Then as things seemed dire, finally Gaia found a way to solve this Problem without starting over. But for that she would need to rely on the power of an other being, though that is a story for another time.

Gaia pauses for a second. It doesn't really matter to me either way.

Her smile deepens. Though I thought you'd probably don't want your company to know of that so I waited until they were out of earshot. But I guess you'd want to know why I would approach you in the first place no?

Gaia lifts her drink to her mouth and takes a sip. She seemes thought full. Your right, this tastes horrible. And I can't even get drunk. ... How about I give it a better flavor.

She snappes and the alcohol now tastes like Sprite, it still works though.

Ah I'm getting of topic am I not. I wanted to tell you my buissnes. Well you see, I happen to be in need of a MissingNo.s corruption but it has to be from a different Universe than mine. So imagine my surprise when I noticed your Aura.

So I came to ask, if you'd be willing to give me some of your essence. And I'm not asking you to give it for free, so if there's something I can do for you, tell me. ... As long as it's within reason of course.

She toasts at Alaxia and awaits his answer.

The mew remains silent for a moment, looking the mew up and down. His expression was mildly unreadable, one couldn't entirely be sure what was going through his mind. But he gently accepts the drink from her, flashing a smile

He takes a sip of the drink, trying to avoid cringing at the taste.

God why does he keep drinking this stuff if he doesn't enjoy it Not even he knew why But he leans against the table, raising a brow slightly, still smiling however.

Alaxia: Thank you for the drink, that was very kind of you... but.. Alaxia's ear flicks, eyes shifting back and forth over Gaia once more, as if searching for something Alaxia: Do you.. often call others "anomalous"... Or are you... His tail flicks slightly, feeling as though he is testing the waters, unsure where Gaia was going with this Alaxia:... More.. "Aware".. of what I am?...

Aight so this got dark quickly. Ain’t that fun <333 But I promise it’s only an uphill movement!

Sephiroth stumbled upon this little guy while on a mission. It is a monster extermination assignment—an easy, swift transition between Wutai updates and Avalanche sightings. The assignment itself went just as swiftly. The area was cleared within minutes, not a materia needed. It was over. Done. Time to return to HQ.

Until he heard the mewing.

What laid behind a rock, nestled in the grass like a feathery cradle, was a baby Cuahl. It couldn’t be any bigger than two fists side-by-side, its fur sandy and speckled with tiny black stars. And it was alone.

The color drained from Sephiroth’s face.

One of the monsters… it had been a Cuahl. It had been the most aggressive out of all of the monsters—and now for good reason. It had a kitten to protect. It had. Sephiroth gaze rattled down to the animal, hovering in his body. He had orphaned it. He had taken away its… its mother.

Oh dear Gaia… its mother.

The thought was so cruel, so unbelievably visceral in his chest. Sephiroth dared to look back at the kitten, into its eyes… two shining emeralds, two slit pupils that quivered in the water.

No… NO.

He… he had made a mirror of himself, had passed on his pain like a baton—if he didn’t he mean to, he did.

He felt like the monster.

No… no he had to fix this. He couldn’t leave this animal here, all alone and orphaned. Not as a SOLDIER. Not as a person. He knew that pain all too well—the hollow cavern in his chest whenever he walked through the city, the yearning call for protection that wailed and clawed at his heart. It was all he ever wanted as a child. Maybe he still did. The Cuahl’s mewing continued to ripple through the air.

Sephiroth lowered to his knees, scooping the quivering kitten into his arms.

“Shh… It’s okay. I will take care of you.”

Sephiroth was unwaveringly protective of his new friend. He never let him out of his sight, collecting days upon days of vacation time in order to nurture him, keeping him sheltered in his room. A blankie sufficed as a bed for a few days, until Sephiroth ultimately had to bite the bullet and head to the pet store—to which he returned with the softest, squishiest bed they had, a little baby bottle, and a whale’s worth of toys. Something glows inside of Sephiroth’s chest as he sat on the edge of his bed, holding a bottle of warm milk in one hand as Kitty sips away. There’s a fondness in his eyes that had never been there, a ripple in the Mako-green that he didn’t know was possible. And when his friend curled up to him afterward, purring into his chest, the mews ebbing away like cinders… Sephiroth didn’t want to be anywhere else in the world. Days melt by in a similar fashion, kitty sleeping most of the day while Sephiroth works from a laptop—although most of the tabs are dedicated to The Proper Care and Feeding of Monster Cats. It was time for wet food soon!

“Kitty… Dinner.” Sephiroth shook the bowl of food, trying to get his buddy’s attention away from… was that his book? He set the bowl on the floor and slid the book from under his feet, watching as Kitty plopped onto his bed as a result. As Sephiroth chuckled, stroking his head, it occurred to him that “Kitty” probably wouldn’t do forever. Kitty deserved a proper name. Just as anyone else. He glanced down at the book in his hands—The Art of War, of course, a staple for any self-respecting man of combat. One did not need to be Wutain to follow in the great geneal’s footsteps.

Sephiroth hummed thoughtfully, keeping his hand tangled in the velvety fur.

“Would you like your dinner, Sunzi?”

With Genesis and Angeal as friends, nothing is a secret for very long. Genesis came slamming at the door, demanding to know where he was, demanding to know why he skipped sparring on the Sister Ray, demanding—

Oh. Sephiroth’s standing in the doorway cradling a cat and smelling like canned fish and lint. They see.

Genesis initially cackled, while Angeal almost melts at an embarrassingly fast rate. And Sephiroth honestly just wanted them out there. He took a step back as Genesis came closer, clutching Sunzi tighter. No one had ever touched Sunzi besides him. He didn’t know if he was ready. Eventually, though, both his friends calm down, and they end up being a huge help to the kitty. Genesis found an especially glamorous collar for him to wear (with a bell, thank you!) and Angeal offered to make some home-cooked fish. There was still one thing nagging Angeal’s mind, however.

“Sephiroth… you are aware that this is a monster, right? Why not get a domestic cat?”

Sephiroth went silent. “Coming, Hojo!” he shouted suddenly, and left his friends to be with the cat.

More days go by, then more weeks, then more months. Sunzi grew at a rapid rate, growing from collar to collar, and it became apparent that he couldn’t simply be a housecat anymore. He needed more space. More adventure. And he was capable of it too! By the time a year passes, Sephiroth began training Sunzi personally—carefully sparring and battling simulations of other monsters. It wasn’t long until he is a skilled, trained warrior cat, who ended up assisting Sephiroth on every mission they go on. He was exceptional at scaling surfaces to find Materia stones and can chase down any spy they come across. Photos are flashed and articles are written, and Sunzi’s domestic class quickly escalated to that of a hero. ShinRa tried to capitalize on the fame, but Sephiroth STRICTLY refused. No one else would ever receive the cruel mascot treatment as he had.

One night, when Sephiroth is in bed, Sunzi smushed against him, he swore that he saw what looked to be the vague shape of a mother Cuahl. She was standing at the foot, all green and translucent, bowing her head. And if Sephiroth didn’t know any better, he would say that she was smiling.

Even if it was just a dream, the man smiled back. “Thank you.”
