The idea of angels’ bodies being these massive organic cathedrals works weirdly well honestly, kind of plays into the idea of them being meticulously designed by God himself. And Gothic architecture already works really well for this as it was meant to be heavenly in nature but also appeared very skeletal and almost organic

Also this reminds me of both Eva and Warframe

Fun fact about Urvashi that no one asked for:

The tips of her wings are meant to drag and sweep over things, because they act like cat whiskers. Helpful for navigation in the dark on the ground or airborne, as well as detecting vibrations/danger/prey/the sense of someone drawing near in general. Ties in with angels naturally using their wings to emote a lot of the time.

made this illustration back in february, but i felt it finished too half-assery and i like this concept too much to let it be done just like that, so i detailed it more!!!!

(EDIT: Added non-xray veiw to show how the mandibles enclose the other mouthparts along with closed mandible view and some labels) Taps microphone *AHEM* Angels.......is bugs. Redid this and added a second view for clarity. Breakdown beneath the cut:

Unlike with most insects, Gabriel's mouthparts are all enclosed within scoop shaped mandibles and are not visible when his mouth is closed. They curl back and press together when not in use.

The mandibles grab and tear off chunks of food, which the maxillary palps pass back to the labrum and labium which chew the food and the labial palps then pass it back to the esophagus. His esophagus and windpipe are not actually weirdly stacked like this, instead much closer together and side by side, I just drew them like this for clarity.

His wind pipe is a completely separate tube than the esophagus and does not connect to the mouth, instead to the 3 spiracles on each side of his face (I know they're indents, not holes, in game but he's also not a bug in game. Play with me in the space). This means he cannot speak or breath through his mouth. It's also why his voice sounds echoed, it's coming out of six different holes at once. Also because he's an angel and can just Do That.

"He just can" is also why he can form words with only a voice box and not a tongue and lips and also explains away any other inaccuracies or inconsistencies.

P.S. If you saw that the word for an insect's lower lip thing is "labium" and thought "ha!", TRUST ME that is a joke I am 100% making in the fic this is for,

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! the prompt for today was (obviously) Halloween, so i drew some couples in matching costumes :3

since there were a lot of couples i wanted to draw but not enough time to draw them all digitally, i separated them into digital and traditional, which you can see under the cut :3

again, happy halloween :3 it was really fun doing all the prompts!! hopefully ill be able to do more next year :)
