Okay to respond to most of the replies on this post- I do get where you're coming from, androids are treated poorly in the game because they're an analogy for people of colour, the androids themselves don't deserve poor treatment just because they were put in a position of having to take a job that could've gone to a human.
I actually do think it could've been a decent way to get people who don't get involved with overt political discussion thinking about underprivileged people and the ways in which society has and continues to harm them. Like give the people something to latch onto (personable robots) and then go "hey you know who ELSE has been historically treated like this—"
Like that's. That's fine.
My point is that. Uh. I don't think making the androids an analogy for people of colour is a particularly good idea.
Okay let me get incomprehensible- within the real world the replacement of human workers with automated labour can and does fuck over actual people (some quick corroboration)
So we're shown in the game that androids are functionally automated labour built and inserted into industries for the explicit purpose of replacing human beings, which is an actual thing that actually happens.
And the game showcases that nothing has been done to stop employers (or cyberlife itself) from implementing them EVERYWHERE, which causes dbh's unemployment epidemic. And therein lies my problem.
The narrative comparing androids to people of colour (especially black people during the civil rights movement) and villainizing the unemployed humans by making them hyper-violent zealots (see- Markus' opening section for some of the most overt examples) is SUPER WEIRD TO ME because unlike actual people of colour the androids ARE functionally replacing jobs. They're being inserted into the workforce by corporations who have allowed the United States unemployment rate to rise to 37.4% but the game VERY ADAMANTLY STATES that the problem here is the unemployed who are violent. To the androids.
You see what I'm saying here? Like why did they write it like that? Like in real life labour being automated to this degree would be a PROBLEM. Wanting the androids universally decommissioned irl is such a reasonable point if you look at them as robots replacing the workforce without any limitations, which. They are.
And like, the game could've been sympathetic to the androids AND people fucked over by their implementation but it REFUSES to reckon with the actual problems (the corporations allowing this to happen, the lack of regulations on androids) in favour of going "humans bad for treating androids unfairly because the androids are equivalent to black people fighting for their rights."Like that's WEIRD, right???
Detroit Become Human and why does this game decide that the problem in society is individual people treating androids poorly because those androids are choking them out of the workforce and NOT the corporations and governments who deliberately designed the androids to do this
#OKAY ESSAY OVER YAYYYYYYY#I know I didn't respond to every point that's been made so far and I want to! This is just what I had the energy for#Sorry if it got incomprehensible! I tried to limit the tangents I really did#Also I know I didn't get into the androids having emotions and functionally being people but#Hear me out#Them having emotions doesn't overrule my point. That the analogy itself. Is weird and not great#And I'm not saying you can't have a story like this! I'm not saying dbh couldn't have worked! I'm just saying that the framing#Of the androids the strawmanning of actual people and the lack of (in-game) accountability from the REAL villains (corporations)#Just. Isn't great#It's just not great#Also like real people of colour still exist in this world. I don't know I also just think it's weird that dbh says the androids are just#Like people of colour when uh. The robots would be fucking people of colour over too. By being here.#Like your in-game minority group is harming actual minority groups by existing#Like that's. That's not a great allegory. It just doesn't work#Again I appreciate everyone who took the time to read my original tags even if you disagreed with me#I think dbh is a GREAT game to have discussions about and I'm glad everyone's being constructive :)#Also to that one person in the comments!! I appreciate the amount of time you put into your response and I REALLY want to give it the#Attention it deserves. Like that was almost 500 words you put in there. Like I am IMPRESSED#I'm sorry I didn't respond to you!! My energy for responses on social media is super inconsistent!#I think your responses were insightful and while I don't agree with everything I am seeing where you're coming from 👍#Dbh#detroit become human#Essay in tags

something about Detroit that I like is that we get a POV from all three parties affected.
Kara gives us a glimpse of deviants on the run. what it's like to be an Android during this time.
Connor gives us an insight into how the authorities are dealing with the Deviancy epidemic. what Deviants have in common, what patterns there are. how Deviants are handled when caught.
Markus gives us an inside look at the revolution in question. what their journey to freedom really looks like, what approaches they took toward it.
I've been thinking about it ever since the game was released. I always thought it was pretty cool that we got to see those three groups of Androids, refugees, authorities, and freedom fighters.

Okay, so, Character Talk Time
I have no idea if this is a popular opinion or not, but I reallllly hate the fact that Alice is an Android
Like…what?
Okay, let me present my case:
As far as we know, Androids have been said that they “Never get tired, or sad” (don’t cry?) they don’t need to eat, and shouldn’t really get cold/feel temperatures. Sure, their bio components will suffer, but they don’t feel pain. Extreme temperatures trigger pain (like burning yourself = too hot)
But, Alice does all of this.
She gets tired, she gets sad, she likely eats (I know both times we see her with food, she doesn’t want it, but with Kara, we can steal snacks from that one convenience store. Is that just to keep up the appearance that she’s a human girl?) and she gets cold.
Also, she gets a Fever.
“But Nexus! Luther explains this! He says that’s just how Kara has been seeing it!” I hear you say.
Well, Rose is the one who identifies Alice’s fever, not Kara. Rose is human. She can’t“see it her own way”. She doesn’t have that ability.
So, if someone wanted to design an Android Child, why would they make it have the ability to develop a fever from the cold, or get cold, or get sad and cry?
Isnt that just more work for the parents who are likely getting an Android Child because it’s meant to be less stressful?
I’m just saying, the fact that that is the plot twist that the game was working towards for Kara is extremely disappointing.
Also, another reason on why I feel like it was a bad idea:
Connor is meant to let us see the Negatives of the Androids Uprising. He’s what connects Humans to Androids. He’s on one far side of the spectrum.
Meanwhile Markus is to let us see the Human Side of Androids, and the Positives of the Androids Uprising. He gives us Deviant Insight. He’s what connects the Androids together. He’s on the opposite side of the spectrum from Connor.
So to balance it all out, I feel like Kara and Alice should have been the middle. They should have represented how Humans and Androids can live and work together peacefully. How they can love each other and care for each other without it being bad. That’s what I believed they were doing from the beginning, but for that to be wrong, really sucks.
Anyway, I hope this is a popular opinion, because I really do think it should have gone that way.

The thing that interests me the most tho, is what the fuck did hank plan to do with him during partners? Like, some android, that he doesn't know, shows up at a no-androids-allowed establishment, talks about a murder, buys him a drink or spills one, doesn't matter, and he's like "sure, get in the car". Said android lets him drive while hes intoxicated, so like, clearly not a police unit, and once they get to the crime scene hank tells him to wait in the car. For WHAT? What was the plan there? And the next day at the police station he throws a hissy fit that he has to work with an android, but… ?? If he didn't think they'd work together WHAT did he think they'd do? Where did he plan to take him?
This scene is so, so frustrating to me, dear anon, and not even for any of the reasons you mention here.
It happens so early in the game, and it kind of shows how bad of a writer David Cage is, and gives a little insight into his writing process. So he has this idea: robot walks into the bar and meets a grumpy cop who doesn't like him very much, then they drive to a crime scene together, and robot introduces his grumpy human partner to his unorthodox methods of investigation, end of scene.
And you know what, as an idea, as a bare bones of the plot, it's great. Even some of the little details in Partners are great.
Hank drinking in the anti-android establishment. Connor's scans showing several criminals as patrons of said establishment. This being the fifth bar Connor has checked. Connor either paying for Hank's drink (he was given money and freedom to pay this guy, like a human! ) or acting like a complete asshole (androids can't be assholes to humans, they're tools, they exist to be useful, not to show character!). Connor disobeying Hank's direct order (again, unheard of) and Hank going along with it (why??). Hank clearly being fascinated (and disgusted) by Connor's abilities. All of this is so good. Even the fact that Hank is driving the car in that first scene, but then allows Connor to drive him to Eden, is very telling and shows the progress of their relationship. That's the great stuff.
Partners is extremely effective at showing both Hank and Connor's characters and establishing the dynamic between them, but oh boy, does it fall so flat when it comes to worldbuilding.
There's so much stuff thrown in that could have explained everything, but like RA9, like so much of this game, it just goes nowhere.
When Connor talks about "procedure", what does he mean?
"In accordance with procedure, the company has allocated a specialized model to assist investigators."
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the word "procedure" implies that Connor was given the assignment according to some pre-established protocol. One that Hank, as a police officer, would have to know about. It would've explained why Hank just goes along with whatever Connor says or does.
I mean, Daniel's case must have been incredibly high profile. A domestic android kills an owner, kills and wounds several cops, and all of this happens not in some dingy apartment in the suburbs (like Ortiz's case), but downtown. Emma's family is clearly incredibly rich, there must be a lot of publicity surrounding this case, and yet it's almost as if it never happened, as if Connor's involvement in it was minimal, as if it was the only deviant case Connor was involved in before being sent to Hank. And why is that? Because of Carlos Ortiz?
Why is the number of missing androids and android cases news to Connor? Why was Connor sent to investigate deviants only a few months after Daniel's case? What's the procedure?
What's the procedure???
All of this could be easily fixed and explained (see the pattern? see why David Cage is a shitty writer?) by adding a few details. What if Daniel's case wasn't Connor's first or second? What if after Daniel's case, Connor worked with several departments, looking for clues? What if the cops are talking about this deviant hunter machine that's pissing everyone off, and that's why Hank knows about him? What if that's why he goes along with Connor's antics, both annoyed and fascinated by him?
What if Hank tells him to stay in the car because that's how he envisions his work with this thing going?

Chapter 1 - Chapter 2 - Chapter 3
"You've got nice, big beds, eh?" Faith said, lifting the blankets and climbing into the bed. Hawkman and Hawkwoman had left the room, leaving Martian Manhunter to sit in front of the monitor to listen.
"Of course." Batman brought the wastebin next to the bed, then sat on the bed while Faith made herself comfortable with the pillows, putting one under her chest.
"I've only got a twin. My apartment is small. One bed, one bath, shared living and dining room with a connected kitchen."
"You live by yourself?"
"Yeah. I have work on Monday."
"Uh-oh."
“It should be fine?” Faith squinted her eyes. "There’s a Scripted event in that, if I leave Earth due to summoning or forced departure to another galaxy, such as Thalassic Space or this galaxy, I duplicate myself once so that I may continue life on Earth. But it might not happen. It's a Suggested Script, really. Not sure if it makes sense, so it’s not confirmed."
"What would it take for it to be confirmed?"
"You could comment on that part under the Unconfirmed Ideas heading of the Thalassic Space Planning document, saying it sounds fine, then I'll move it to its appropriate heading and mark your comment as resolved, and remove your comment. In this case, the heading is About the Great Little Starwriter. Here, I’ll share the TSRPG app with you, send you a friend request, and then a link to the document. It's encrypted and protected by another muse child, Chandra, whose mother is Calliope and father is Michael. Her Dragon Persona is part Android, SOFFFIAA: Simulacra of Friendship for Future Insight and Aspirations. Sophia, spelled with ph, is also the name of one of the Four Legendary Unicorns, and yes, Chandra is the type of person Sophia favours and allows to ride on her." Batman hummed. Faith woke up her phone and did some tapping. "Accept the download, please." Batman looked at his glove.
Thalassic Space Roleplaying Game would like access to your device.
Decline – Accept
"The loading screen of the app will explain its purpose. You can delete it at any time like you would any other mobile app, and you can share it with anyone through the Share button via your Profile with a QR code or device sharing, like I did with you. You’ll have access to all publicly known lore of the galaxy, and what isn’t there is in the Planning Document. You can see the Profiles of your Friends at their respective tab, and review their Health, Magic, Equipment, Status, Abilities, Skills, Personas and Soul Fragments, if any of the latter four Assets are applicable or known to you or your Friends."
"Alright." Batman selected Accept. The download and installation required three seconds. The app's icon was an eight-coloured sigil Batman had never seen before.
Four thick black circles forming a vertical number eight and a horizontal number eight, joined to create four angular teardrop shapes, perhaps better described as leaves, morphing the outward sections of the eights into fan shapes. The upper half of the vertical eight was sky blue, the lower half white; the left half of the horizontal eight was yellow, the right half red. The upper left leaf was emerald green, the upper left peacock or mermaid blue; Batman wasn't one hundred percent sure. The lower left leaf was ice blue, and the lower right leaf was a light red.
"That was very fast." Batman said.
"You don't sleep, and you're at peak physical and mental condition. It was fast for me when Ra's and I were in Platonia because I registered when I started lucid dreaming in the dream world of Thalassic Space at fourteen."
Batman opened the app. The loading screen, seen for ten seconds, displayed a white-blue O-type star that rotated, surrounded by magic circles depicting religious symbols. A blue lotus, a red eternity knot, a purple oak tree, an orange bolt of lightning, a golden eye of Ra, a blue David’s star, a red sigil of Baphomet, and the eight-coloured sigil. The title, in white-blue, read Thalassic Space Roleplaying Game and below it, in white, read:
Serving citizens and visitors with memories and immersive gameplay in the galaxy created post-mortem of "Tony" Richard Lawson in November 2021 by his adoptive daughter, Faith Lawson, the mortal name and memory-bearing soul of the Author of Thalassic Space.
Faith is revered as Ønske Ulia Χαμένος (Chaménos), daughter of Skuld and Víðarr, fostered by Frejya and Freyr, and mentored by Urania and Uriel. Faith, through Ulia, is the Great Little Starwriter of Thalassic Space, and Playwright of the Rondo Theatre in the Dream World on Paper, the dream world of Thalassic Space.
Connection is possible thanks to your knowledge or introduction to the dream world’s mechanics and lore, Thalassic Space’s history, and intention to participate in adventures in the dream world and-or Thalassic Space.
Batman noted the loading was taking longer than the installation.

The app made three jingle bell sounds. Batman was presented with a 3D room suited to his aesthetics with a two-screen monitor computer on a desk, a queen-sized bed, a nightstand, a wardrobe, a vanity desk, a bathroom, and a door with the label (HOLD 3s) Leave planet; Go to Pàrras, planet Youtrnaeyl beneath it. The black UI in the bottom of the screen said Room, Map, Journal, Friends and Party in white text. A pictograph of a camera with a label in white below was at the upper right of the screen. The upper left had a white letter B on a black background for his profile photo. Batman was written above a green bar that read HEALTH that was almost full, a bar beneath that read MAGIC that was a greyish blue and had the words DISABLED at its right end.
"Are you in?" Faith asked.
"Yeah."
"OK, I’ll send a friend request."
Batman received a green notification banner on the app.
Ulia Χαμένος has sent a Friend request! <TAP TO GO>
"Feel free to explore your Profile and App Settings. For example, if you don't want jingle bells, you can change the ringtone, or set it to different levels of vibration, or a tickling sensation on your hand, nose or neck. Your Foes list shouldn't have any information you don’t know to be true. If it does, report it, and SOFFFIAA will purge it, so a paradox doesn’t occur."
Batman tapped the notification and was sent to the Friend Request screen of the Friends tab. He accepted Faith’s request, then backed out. He was in his Profile tab, showing his Health points were 480, 000; a question mark at its right end. Batman tapped it, and the pop-up read:
HEALTH is calculated by multiplying the user's age by 100 thousand, if human and non-magical, 150 thousand if human and magical, 200 thousand if non-human and non-magical, 250 thousand if non-human and magical, plus 1 million per decade if immortal or demi-immortal via demi-demonhood or demi-godhood.
"You came up with all of this too, right?" Batman said, as the game jingled and showed a notification.
Ulia Χαμένος has sent a message. <TAP TO GO>
"Yeah! The logic is supposed to be solid, like well-made video game worlds are." Faith said, while Batman clicked the link. "There's no password, for now."
"Thanks. I'll help you make a password later. But yes, just reading how Health works shows how much thought has been put into this."
"Thank you. You can use your Journal to view your life story as described by an angel, and you can search by date. If you have questions and are uncomfortable with talking to SOFFFIAA, but I'm not nearby, shoot me a message. If you'd prefer to not use the app or it's down for weekly server maintenance for an hour on Sundays at noon PST, my phone number is 778 [XXX-XXXX]."
"Will do. Thanks, Faith."
"You’re welcome!" Faith held her finger down, tapped, exited the app, and clicked to turn off her phone.
Batman’s TSRPG gave him a notification, and he opened the respective document. "By the way, your email for this is hilarious. I know it’s just a bunch of numbers, letters and symbols, but I can’t look at it without thinking how Matt Rose would read it, full send."
"Who’s that?"
"A YouTuber who reads Reddit. He’s British, so it's funnier." Faith started coughing. She heaved and swallowed. "Ew."
"What was the last thing you ate?"
"I tried to eat a banana and apple sauce. Threw it up earlier. Tastes sweet.'
"Lovely."
"I know, right?" Faith giggled.
"I have your tea, Faith." Damian said, not wearing his mask, entering with a teacup and putting it on the nightstand. "It's hot, so be careful."
"Thank you, Damian."
"You’re welcome."
Batman asked, "Faith, what's the eight-coloured sigil?"
"The Double Eight of Thalassic Space. It tells the story of the O-type star's spirit. The white and blue spheres are for the O-type star, and the yellow and red for the G- and M-type stars. The inner leaves are for factions and locations involved in the story: emerald for the Emerald Thieves, who were the elite of the Thieves Guild and returned to greatness during the main novel, mermaid sapphire blue for the merfolk of Thalassic Space, who were corrupted by Nero Poseidon through Nero Dionysus and became the only known sirens in Thalassic Space, ice blue for the Ninth Circle of Inferno, as Lucifer was the one who told Nerobzal about the Door to Platonia and as a reminder of the evil that Kaleido wished to release, and blush red for the blood of the anthropomorphs of Thalassic Space. It's blush red instead of blood to evoke thoughts of gentleness and love after the struggles they faced." Faith said, and picked up the teacup, blowing on its tea. "Any other lore related questions?"
"Where do the Departed come from? You told the ones who were harassing Ra's to return to the Underside."
"Well, then I must explain a Soul Bridge, which Dreamer Mages can access, and sometimes the owner of the Soul Bridge in dreams can too. It's a soul-bound Landmark in the Dream World on Paper, which I think you've the name of heard before." Faith sipped the tea.
"Yes." Said Batman. "Just the name, though."
"It's named so because I had a dream where I saw that I had drawn a simplified version of the three areas of the dream world on paper I had glued to coloured construction paper as a kid, and it blew my friggin' mind." Faith giggled.
"That's cool." Damian said, not doing so well in hiding the tone that showed how he actually felt.
"These areas are: a desert with mountains where there's mines, Egyptian ruins and a massive sinkhole in the dunes, a forested mountainous island with a dojo surrounded by an ocean, and a town with a city within a short distance that is actually Vanderhoof and Prince George, surrounded by a forest." Faith sipped. "Neo Spirits hang from the Suspensions of a Soul Bridge and whisper, speak or sing to the High Mind part of the subconscious, the sky of the dream world, to remind us of dreams, self-love, and good memories, all to make us smile and improve our quality of life. Nero Spirits cling to the Underside of a Soul Bridge and snarl, shout or scream to the Low Mind part of the subconscious to induce of nightmares, such as panic attacks, self-hatred, which can be expressed in many ways, and bad memories, which come from experiences related to the former two aspects." Faith sipped again.
"In the waking world of Thalassic Space, the army of Nero Spirits include the undead, which can take the form of draugr or zombies, and evil vampires, werewolves and sirens, though the latter is quite rare, and I don't think Urania mentioned them as a result. They only appeared because of Nero Dionysus, and they weren't around for long after the events of the main novel." Faith sipped. "Nero Spirits have neon red, orange eyes or yellow to evoke the imagery of fire. If they're toxic, their eyes are neon green, neon blue means electricity, neon purple means corruption of mind and decay of body, and neon pink means nightmares."
"Neo Spirits have pastel, jewel or earth-tone eyes, and depending on what the narration describes that colour as, you can associate the meaning of that rock or plant as relevant to the purpose and sometimes the personality of a Neo Spirit." Faith sipped more. "Both are bound to a Soul Bridge but can be seen in dreams or nightmares, and Neo Spirits can be summoned to the 28 Mansions to provide a source of comfort to a person when they've passed on, and Nero Spirits can be manifested, which is terrible news. Ask me about that later, unless I bring it up naturally through more exposition."
"Will do." Said Batman.
"Any other questions?"
Damian said, "Yeah. Why did you spare Grandfather?"
“If I killed him, he would fight his way out of Inferno, and from Mansion 0 and the 28 Mansions of the Four Symbols of Chinese astrology learn about the existence of the Earth-ruining events he so desperately wants and of the nearest reincarnation Realm, the Realm of Tree Peoples." Faith sipped. "Bartholomew, or maybe Krampus, would seek Ra's and promote him to General, giving Ra's permission to command Nerobzal's army. Ra's would bring them back here, occupy all the heroes, and then, all he would need to do to trigger Red Storm Earth is to cut me with my tooth and dagger, stuff my necklace down my throat or injure my throat with it, and have me fall to my death from at least three stories onto a cluster of manmade or natural spikes and thorns, a death vaguely reminiscent of Sailor Venus from the first season of Sailor Moon. 'Cause you know I gotta shout out the O.M.G." Faith giggled, and sipped.
"Nice." Said Damian. "Uh, nice reference."
"During Red Storm Earth, the 200 Fallen Angels are released from Dudael to kill, burn and rape humans and animals as they please while a rainstorm of black clouds with neon red lightning pours down at all times, and the movement of the Fallen Angels will create hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis and hurricanes. It will last for two days, and then Yahweh will send a massive, fiery planet to reset Earth to the beginning of the first day, but everyone will remember what happened." Faith sipped. "It can be stopped if the Four Legendary Unicorns are summoned from Thalassic Space, their Earthly riders win a race against the Wild Hunt, and brought to resurrect me. They are Bella, who is white with gold in her mane and tail and golden hooves, and she loves people with childish joy and love in their hearts who have forgiven themselves and others who have wronged them and those they love; Sophia, who is a dark liver chestnut with a light chestnut mane and tail with silver hooves, and she loves people who are wise about Earth, oceans and space, and who wish to spread that knowledge and sow inspiration to create a healthier world with the world and our neighbours; Pärla, who is baby blue eyed, her body pearl pink and her mane and tail lavender, is fond of magical people who use their gifts to help others, especially fairies and demigods; last is the stallion, Bedöma, who is black with orange eyes, and a red mane and tail alight with yellow lightning, and he allows heroic people who have never killed a god or fairy or the child of a god or fairy to ride him, but will deny people who have never saved a life."
"If the Four are gathered and I am resurrected in time, the day or days will reverse as if Yahweh had cast the fiery planet onto Earth, saving lives and the planet." Faith said. Batman hummed. "There's a second catastrophe he could cause, but the people in the 28 Mansions would only tell him about Red Storm Earth. Ra's could only find out about the Invitation of Nerobzal from Bartholomew or Krampus."
"Tell us about the Invitation of Nerobzal."
Faith nodded as she sipped. "So, I live as my Ego, as do all people. This is equivalent to a Neo Persona. We all also have a Nero Persona. While Neo Spirits and Nero Spirits are from the Suspensions and Underside of a Soul Bridge, our Neo and Nero Personas are Roles that we can each assume. Like you, as Batman and Robin, are Neo Personas, but Zur-En-Arrh and Robin before you properly settled into the Batfamily, no offense," Damian grunted. "Are examples of Nero Personas."
"These can be dangerous on their own, but at times aren't nearly as dangerous as manifested Nero Spirits. Manifested Neo Spirits are not an issue, unless you're an angel, in which case you expose people to your real form and voice, and that'll fry people's brains and kill them." Faith sipped. "Manifested Nero Spirits torment people’s minds, and their bodies react with seizures or possession by the Nero Spirit, and the possessed may injure themselves or become paralysed and vulnerable to a dark sorcerer, demon, or the manifested Nero Spirit. They’re dangerous, even to gods."
"A Nero Spirit can be manifested by a dark sorcerer through a ritual in which eight buildings containing at least eighty people are set ablaze with the blue fire of Naglfar." Faith sipped. "As the fire kills people, so does the newly spawned Nest of Naamah and its insect demons, which can quickly spread to other buildings if the windows and doors are not sealed or covered by fire. Drown the insect demons with boiling saltwater or burn them until they and the Nest are eliminated. Red fire reminds the demons of the volcano from which Father Dragon was made by the seraphim, and it's not blue, so it does not count towards the fire of the Naglfar. If the insect demons have Nested in a person, death by boiling saltwater or fire is the only mercy and way to prevent further reproduction of the Nest."
"Ew, they nest in people?" Said Damian.
"Uh, think of the fetish. It's like that."
"Ew!"
"Yeah, it felt right to make that creative decision, sorry." Faith sipped.
"No, uh, yeah, it works."
"If the Naglfar fire is not extinguished before the last person in the eight buildings dies, Nerobzal will rise from the ashes of the buildings and laugh, repeating the insanity that Earth felt when he laughed at Emperor Nero’s death. To return Nerobzal to Sagittarius A*, where he was banished to be torn apart for eternity at the end of the main novel, the archangels Michael, Gabriel, Raphael and Uriel and the muses they each bore a child with must be summoned by a Jewish man of pure heart, whoi is brave, kind and masculine in all ways applicable to the definition of a man under the eyes of God across all eras of mankind,"
'I immediately know who she thought of, when writing this.' Batman thought.
"And a cultist of Asherah must be present as well. " Faith sipped. "The Jew and the cultitst must each throw a spear, the Jew of lightning and the cultist of ice, into the eyes of Nerobzal. Blinded and frozen by the power of God and Asherah, Nerobzal will retreat for five years, and be unable to be summoned during that time. It’s also written that the person responsible for the ritual will be punished by the archangels, and made to forget all that they know about that night, and all knowledge of Thalassic Space."
"Ah, so that's your plan to remove Ra's' knowledge, as we all know he won't agree to the Departed taking it from him."
"Yes." Faith sighed, and sipped. "I'm sorry, I-I can make another that isn't a disaster, if I have an Editor. Proper noun, he he. Same with words like Landmark, uh, well, you're Batman, you get the idea."
"I do, yeah. Do you have any other ideas to get this out of Ra's' head?"
"Well, I am a wish-granting creation dragon. I dunno if Urania or I told you that, already."
"No, that's actually new information."
"Oh! Well, I accept gifts."
"What gifts do you, sorry, does your Dragon Persona like?"
"Rocks, gemstones, flowers, seeds and saplings, and traditional, performance and digital art."
Batman hummed. "Are you in danger of being killed by Bartholomew again, now that your dragon powers have returned?"
“No, Ra's is the only danger. Bartholomew only wanted to kill me because he's transphobic, and I was with Argophael when he found Argophael."
Damian asked, "Why did you chose to write a story like that?"
"Because too many trans people have died because of awful people, and in fantasy and horror, we get to emphasise and explore different ways to express history and emotions." Faith said. Damian and Batman hummed. "Oh yeah, I should say: if Ra's doesn't want to bother with Platonia, he could travel to Andøya, Norway to find and solve the hidden puzzle to reveal the door to my dragon tomb that the Snow Elves and Astral Giant Elves will have arranged by now. Planet Yotutrnaeyl is just a bigger Earth with magic islands, after all."
Batman asked, "What are the Departed going do with your hair and blood that you gave them?"
"They’ll give to Analise, one of the twin girls of Krampus, to advance Odeya’s strength. She's not evil, she's just a biology girl."
Damian said, "Soooo, what are you going to do when you're not sick?"
"I'll use Platonia after I’m done being sick to get my other Relics and my Costume, unless you want to take me to Norway."
"We'll go to Norway." Batman said.
"Sweet, OK!"
Batman hummed. "You should be proud of Thalassic Space. It's really well done, Faith."
"Yeah, it's really cool." Said Damian.
"Thank you!"
Batman said, "You should try to sleep. I'll read over what’s available in TSRPG and your planning document."
"OK! Goodnight, Bruce. Goodnight to you too, Damian."
"Goodnight, Faith." Batman patted the blanket where her right arm was, then rose and walked to turn off the light.
"Goodnight." Damian said, leaving with his father. Batman closed the door.
"Do you want the app too, so you can read?"
"Sure." Batman interacted with his gauntlet, sending the app to Damian. "Thanks."
"You’re welcome. I'm going to read in the drawing room. I might have a conversation with Watchtower, while I'm in there."
"OK. I’ll be in my bedroom."
"Oh, and you can tell the others about our new member."
"Already?"
"Why do you think she’s unsuitable?"
Two second pause. "You have me there. I have nothing against her."
"Thank you."
"I will add her in the group chat, as well."
"Good idea. Thank you, Damian." Batman said, as Damian reopened the door of the guest bedroom.
"Sorry to bother you."
"No, no, it's fine. What's up?"
"What's your phone number? I'd like to add you to the group chat." Faith gasped with a smile. She repeated her phone number. "Thanks." Faith nodded.
"Um, what's the WiFi name and password? I like to listen to ocean ambience to sleep."
"VKR3L17WE is the name, and TREACLE0743, all caps, no spaces, is the password. That’s T-R-E-A-C-L-E, 0743."
"Thank you."
"Mhm. If you need anything, just text me or Father." Damian told Faith their phone numbers.
"Thank you so much."
"You’re welcome. And don't worry about making a mess. You're sick. You're allowed to be gross." Faith smiled a little. "I will brief the others on what's happened. You can say whatever else you'd like, after that, OK?"
"OK!" Faith said. Damian exited, went to his bedroom, and closed the door. He took off his costume and put on a comfortable shirt and pants. He opened the Batfamily group chat and added Faith to the group.
Damian added Faith Lawson (StarwriterUlia) to the group.
Faith Lawson (StarwriterUlia) changed their display name to Faith.
Damian: Everyone, meet Faith from Earth-33. Grandfather had a naughty dream and wanted her body and power and brought her to Father's mansion to taunt Father, but he cut himself with Faith's dragon tooth so Faith had to come along.
Damian: Some ghouls called Departed seized Grandfather and put him in a room of the domain that Grandfather and Faith used to travel from Earth-33 to here. The Departed harassed him while Faith and Father talked.
Faith: *Room, Domain. Sorry, author things, proper nouns need to be capitalised.
Damian: Yes, thank you.
Damian: Faith opened the door and requested for Platonia to show Grandfather. Faith told him to back off or face her full power later, and that a Departed would come to him after a week of nightmares and offer to take his memories and knowledge of Thalassic Space.
Damian: He won't agree, of course.
Tim: Yeah, no.
Faith: Aaaa, hi!
Tim: Hi Faith, welcome to the Batfam 😇👋
Faith: Thank you!
Faith: But yeah, and because he's a demon, he could not only use Platonia again, the Departed and Umbrella Man will just ignore him. He could go to Mansion 0 and any of the 28 Mansions of the Four Symbols of Chinese astrology, the afterlife of the people of Thalassic Space that has many doors to the afterlife Realms of the real religions that have magic circles surrounding the O-type star of the galaxy, protecting its planets from its massive heat and magic output, and find out about Red Storm Earth and the Invitation of Nerobzal.
Tim: Umbrella Man?
Faith: Do you know the TF2 ARG Project Skybox?
Tim: Oh! Yep.
Faith: Ra's isn’t considered an interloper now. I didn't mention this to Batman, but Ra's was attacked because he *was* an interloper until it realised he was a demon.
Damian: Father will read this too, don't worry.
Faith: OK!
Faith: Anyway, Platonia won't try to devour him again.
Tim: I'm sorry, what's Platonia?
Faith: It's the Navidson hallway from House of Leaves, defined as Julian Barbour's platonia. You summon a Door to Platonia with the door opening ritual seen in MyHouse.wad.
Tim: Ooooh, that's so cool!
Faith: Thanks, I’ve been working on Thalassic Space for four years.
Faith: Ra's could learn everything the public knows and the history of Thalassic Space and me, and the closest Realm in the world of the living is the Realm of Tree Peoples. Bartholomew or Krampus would gladly promote Ra’s to General upon meeting during Ra’s would-be trail of destruction in the Realm of Tree Peoples. Bartholomew is the Ebony Giant Elf who murdered my Dragon Persona, the Goshenite Stargazer Dragon, and my Animus/lover, a trans boy named Argophael who was Bartholomew's eldest triplet and fled from home because of his dad.
Tim: Bartholomew sounds like an evil wizard LOL
Tim: Is Santa evil too?
Faith: Oh yes, he’s a pirate warlock with a serrated black sword of blue Hell fire. That’s what he killed us with, as we enjoyed the night life of the Carnival of Seasons, on the Realm of Tree Peoples. He mutilated our bodies as we died, and he raped me. The Carnival is between the Stretch of Heart, the forest where the Oak Dwarves, Spruce Humans and anthropomorphs people suitable for the forest live, and White Sun Harbour, where Fir Elves and fish-anthros live. Astral Elves and Snow elves live in the villages around the Pivot Day Monastery, the Domain where the Astral and Ebony Giant Elves live.
Tim: Wow, this lore is SO GOOD!? 😮
Faith: Also, no, Santa is an Astral Giant Elf, not an Ebony Giant Elf; he's the good one of Nerobzal's sons. Bartholomew and Krampus are the other, older two. Nerobzal is the big bad evil of Thalassic Space. At least, in the Script. Backstage at the Rondo Theatre, where I'm the Playwright, he's just an Actor, like everyone else who's named in Thalassic Space who isn't a deity or demon.
Damian: OK *that's* an important detail you should have mentioned earlier. Urania didn't say that, either.
Faith: Sorry, it's so easy to get carried away with my own toys!😛 It's a blessing if a chapter for anything I write is less than 20 pages LOL
Tim: LOL
Faith: Nerobzal was Erophael, a Court Fool of Yahweh, until Emperor Nero off'd himself, then Erophael laughed so loudly that all living things went nuts for five seconds until Yahweh cast him out of Paradiso. Oh shit, I forgot to tell this part of the lore, aaaaa, but Yahweh had also been affected! Michael stuffed that malice into Nerobzal's throat, literally, so Yahweh's OK now, but still.
Tim: Oh geez!
Faith: Michael stuffing Nerobzal's throat is where the Siren's Knot comes from. If a siren has a Siren's Knot in their throat, they can't sing or talk well, even in Neofom or Nerobzal, and are more likely to choke to death. Sirens are characterised by yellow eyes and a tail belonging to any fish that is unfriendly or toxic, manages to leave the hive, always bulit in or nearby the den of a sea monster, such as those on planet Bafsina (bahf-sin-uh; means 'basin' in Neofom, the language of Neo Spirits, who are friendly, unlike Nero Spirits; both come from Soul Bridges. OH GOD, LATER, OOPS. SAME WITH THE NAMES OF THALASSIC SPACE'S SIX PLANETS. Also yes, Damian, there are three more planets! They were created by the massive amount of magic used in the Third War for the O-star Spirit, and they are Judge, Little Path and Sia; Tim, the original six are Yotutrnaeyl, meaning 'journey', Bafsina, and Grace, the *OG* of the entire series that I made before my adoptive dad died, motivating me to make 8all of this* LOL)
Tim: LOL, "OH GOD, LATER, OOPS". Also, thanks for the quick lore drop this time around!
Faith: I girlbossed too hard with the lore in four years LOL
Tim: LOL
Barbara: Are there unicorns and pegasi in Thalassic Space?😮
Faith: OMG hi!
Barbara: Hi there! Welcome! 🥰💖
Tim: Tell us about Soul Bridges, while you're at it!
Faith: OK!
Faith: The Sanctuary of Gla’si’ (Glass, in Neofom, the language of Neo Spirits; Nerobzal is both the name a character and the language of the Nero Spirits), on the Realm of Album. Thanks to the formation of the Oracles, the twelve most powerful Dreamer Mages from different universities on the original three planets of Thalassic Space, the population's questions of how the body is able to or unable to use magic from the O-type star and Sagittarius A* was finally answered. The names of magic in Thalassic Space are Elevifeb, unscrambled as 'believe' and 'belief', in reference to what a person believes in, be it themselves, their family and-or friends, and belief being a more divine-centric term for a person's faith; good, solar magic; all three words are used interchangeably, and Eledisfeb, unscrambled as 'disbelief'; references the same terms as Elevifeb, but with negative connotations; dark, singularity magic; again, all three words are used interchangeably.
Tim: I'm sorry, but couldn't you have just called it Elevib or Elefib?
Faith: Yeah, but then I'd be one syllable short.😛 Symmetry or lack thereof is important to the bards and Playwrights of Thalassic Space!like me, the Playwright of the Rondo Theatre in the Dream World on Paper, a term I came up with after I had a dream where I saw childhood drawings of the dream world I glued onto coloured construction paper, and I REMEMBER DRAWING THEM. It blew my friggin' mind. 😵
Tim: Fair. Also, cool!! 😮
Faith: People who live in, have visited or acknowledge the existence of Thalassic Space have Five Mortal Qualities: the memory-bearing soul, which dies with a mortal and immortal, but their memories are archived in Santa's Snow Globe Room. Memories from a past life can be restored via resurrection by a divine or demonic entity who has their Snow Globe at whatever ritual the entity is conducting. Snow Globes *can* break, but they respawn in the Snow Globe Room if broken. Yes, this is stolen from the Santa Clause movies. Also, this is how my Animus literally gifted me Thalassic Space for Christmas when I was a demigoddess LOL
Tim: LOL!
Barbara: LOL I love that.
Faith: Second is the magic-bearing spirit, which can be disabled or awakened due to many circumstances depending on the person's status as a human or non-human, their physical and mental status, and even if they're alive or dead. The spirit stores knowledge related to magic, including any physical motions or verbal phrases required to cast a spell.
Tim: Can the spirit die?
Faith: Nope. But it *can* be stolen, and drained, by dark sorcerers.
Barbara: Ah.
Tim: Ahhhh.
Faith: Third is the mind, which is directly connected to the soul, and that's how impulses and protective actions are communicated to the fourth, the body, which acts out what the mind instructs it to. The heart is technically both the fourth and the fifth, according to some faiths.
Faith: The Soul Bridge is where Neo and Nero Spirits are born; Neo from the Suspensions, and Nero from the Underside. I use different specific verbs to describe the emotions, but both whisper, talk, shout or sing to the High Mind (the sky, exclusively interacted with by Neo Spirits) or the Low Mind (the river, exclusively interacted with by Nero Spirits) to influence or remind the Five Mortal Qualities of whatever the frick that Spirit was born for.
Tim: Ha ha!
Barbara: This is a fun read!
Tim: Heck yeah it is!
Faith: Soul Bridges can be accessed by expert Dreamer mages, and in the dream world by a person. Mine starts out like the bridge in Vanderhoof near Riverside Park and connects to Old Loop Road, but it's *so broken and twisted* that it's literally the most impossible roller coaster my subconscious could come up with. That's how it views my memories, my magic, my body, heart and mind; they're all out of sync, and it's dangerous and nonesensical. But I remember a dream where I was riding on it like in a crazy mine cart mobile game mixed with an arcade railgun shooter with Final Fantasy elements thrown in there, and I've come to accept that, if I ever go downtown, I will have a very violent awakening, literally. It'll be one of those dreams I wake up from in a hot sweat, shaking and letting out a loud scream.
Faith: And that's all about Soul Bridges and how they work, with a bit of info. about Neo and Nero Spirits! I had to throw the Five Mortal Qualities in there, 'cause that's just how I explain it in the planning document.
Barbara: Holy crow, your mind, girl! 🤯
Faith: Thanks LOL
Faith: That being said! If made General, Ra's would have access to Nerobzal's army of undead, Nero Spirits, and evil vampires and werewolves. There are also dark sorcerers, but Ra's wouldn’t order them around. All of that is the cult of Kaleido, or what remains of it after the Third War for the O-star Spirit. Kaleido was Kitsch, now Kaleido has been freed again and is Kirei. Instead of Italian vampires, the Japanese control it now!
Dick: All of *this* is what you've been cooking for four years? 🤯 I think we have a creative genius in the group now, holy smokes!
Faith: Oh geez, hi! Also, thank you! The complexity of Thalassic Space is me trying to emulate the masters of fantasy LOL
Dick: Hi Faith, welcome 😊 Also yes, it shows!
Faith: Uh, and I've been cooking soup.
Tim: Soooouuuup!
Barbara: Sooooouuupppp!!
Stephanie: (smacks lips) good soup.
Faith: Aa! Aaaaa!
Stephanie: hi 😉
Faith: I'm gonna freaking explode aren't I? LOL
Barbara: Please don't explode. 😜
Stephanie: so you've got magic dragon powers? :ooo
Faith: Yes! I can use the Thu'um, and my dragon tomb has my other two Relics. One is a white ebony dagger that can become Uriel's fiery sword (he’s my spiritual father; Urania is my mother), which Ra's cut himself on 'cause he was being greedy, and he ran out with only the dragon tooth 'cause he woke up my ten Dragon Priests. :D They're technically just guarding Argophael, now.
Barbara: Ooooh, was he your dragon boyfriend?😮
Faith: Yes! And trans! I've always been pansexual lol.
Tim: Eyyy, another gay in the family, woo hoo!
Faith: 🎉Let's freaking go, lesbians💅✨
Tim: LOL
Barbara: LOL
Stephanie: lmao
Dick: Ha ha ha!
Faith: Do I have to say what Bartholomew did again?
Barbara: Nope! We scrolled up 👍
Faith: OK, THANK GOD LOL
Barbara: LOL
Tim: Also, why did you name him Bartholomew?
Stephanie: LOL you named him Bartholomew
Faith: Bartholomew Roberts.
Barbara: OH RIGHT he's a PIRATE WARLOCK
Stephanie: a good fit for a transphobe, ngl
Faith: Yeah! And he's captain of the Naglfar because why the fuck not? XD
Dick: Whoa! We're tossing f-bombs out, now?
Faith: I'm always tossing f-bombs out. I just get bored of it sometimes. Also, it's not always time for an f-bomb.
[Faith sent an audio message.] [Singing merrily:] Ohhhh, fuck fuck, fuckity fuck fuck! A-fuck fuck, fuckity fuck fuck! Fucking fuck, fucking fuck! Oh, fuck fuck fuckity fuck fuuuuck! Fuck.
Dick: Nope. Not listening to whatever that is.
Dick: Nevermind, Barbara played it on her phone.
Barbara: LMAO
Tim: LOLOLOL
Stephanie: BEAUTIFUL. SAVED. THAT'S MY RINGTONE FOR YOU NOW FAITH LOL
Faith: I'd like to thank Casey Jones from the comic that was in the back pages of the manual for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2012 for the Wii for introducing me to 'fuckity fuck'. Fucking is just a normal verb form for fuck.
Barbara: LOL
Tim: Oh no, noooooo, that game *sucked*!
Faith: I had some fun with it, playing with my brother, and it and the movie it was based on introduced me to the fandom I wrote my first fanfic for, OK? I wouldn't be here without it! Muchlessbeamonsterfucker. Anyway!
Tim: LOL
Barbara: OMG FAITH 🤣🤣
Stephanie: PFFFT GO OFF I GUESS
Faith: The other is a white-blue gradient scallop seashell necklace that works like the Mermaid Princess pearls of Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch, but I can also dance, and my genre is Tohou Eurobeat.
Stephanie: (gasp!) so you're a magical girl too!! :oooo
Faith: Yes! :DDDDD I also have a Fairy Persona named Solas. My birth demigoddess name is Ønske, but when Urania became my mentor, I also got Ulia Chaménos, the surname to tribute the people I'd go on to save. And I got invited to Paradiso, where Uriel greeted me as my patron angel, and I was told my mortal name, which is, well, Faith!
Stephanie: coool :o what does your fairy 'sona look like?
Stephanie: wait no!
Stephanie: you can just show me some time!! right?
Faith: Also yes, I can! Dragon powers awake = everything is awake.
Faith: I also have a magic Costume, formally called my Astral Jester Costume. The styles of the pieces can change, but by default, it's a T-shirt crop top, shorts, cuff-bracelets lined with jingle bells, a choker with a cluster of jingle bells, hiker shoes (I have a deformed right foot, and my feet are naturally wide, so no flip-flops, flat shoes or high heels!) with a cluster of jingle bells, and, of course, a jester hat with four “ears”, each with a cluster of jingle bells. The entire outfit is white but can change colours as it changes styles. It's a magic cosplay piece LOL
Tim: OK cool but *why a jester?*
Faith: Look, Harley didn’t make me gay, LEGO Catwoman did, but I gotta do one for the clown gays, all right? Harley is an iconnnnn
Stephanie: lol truuuuueeeeee
Tim: Go off, girl! 🤣
Faith: When LEGO Catwoman used the diamond to cut the window, and was caught in the spotlight? And then we saw it again after the villain level? I was like "Oh, she’s cool! …Is she hot, too? Is that just her thing?" There's a reason my imaginary friends were fairies and mermaids and I've had my first imaginary friend, Bella, since I was like 6 🧚🦄🌈✨
Tim: yaaaaassss! ✨🌈✨
Stephanie: yes, miss gurrrlll!! 💖💖✨✨
Barbara: I love that for you!! /gen
Dick: Yeah that's cool 😁
Damian: You can all read about the Four Legendary Unicorns in the app's lore or the planning document.
Faith: Thank you, Damian!
Damian: You're welcome.
Dick: Hey Faaaaaaith
Faith: Yeeeeees
Dick: Who's your favourite Robin? 👀
Faith: He's not present. (throws a peace sign, vanishes)
Dick: GAAAAASP! (holds chest)
Tim: Eh, fair.
Stephanie: lmao
Faith: (Reappears with the sound of a tendon going over bone) But uh, the Four represent the emotions and head-spaces of the people they allow to ride on their backs. Two Italians, and two Swedes LOL
Stephanie: aw man, not the swedish!
Dick: LOL why that sound??🤣
Faith: I've got hyptonia from my dwarfism, OK! I make it a lot!
Tim: Oh cool! How tall are you?
Faith: 4'6" (146 cm)
Faith: Just know that it was supposed to be Polish as a Witcher reference. 💀
Stephanie: bruh 💀💀💀
Tim: LOL the opposite of the Wild Hunt
Faith: Literally 💀Anyway! I have the flu right now so please don’t visit, thankssss
Barbara: No. ❤️
Faith: OK! I believe you! Jump in the line, rock your body in time.
Faith: OHHHHHHH!!!
Barbara: LOL!!
Faith: I know that song from Just Dance 2. Or was it 3? I don't remember and I don't care to ask SOFFFIAA right now LOL
Dick: You’re so energetic, I love that.
Stephanie: oh you're *def* a Just Dancer.
Faith: Thank you! (ihaveareactiveattachmentdisorder)
Steph: felt that
Tim: LOL
Barbara: LOL oh hon, you're perfect 🤣
Dick: 🤣🤣
Damian: I can hear you laughing from across the hall…
Faith: Also, I haven't played since I broke my knee in March 2015 ☹️
Stephanie: awww, that sucks! but we can get you back into shape!
Faith: It's gonna be a *real* challenge.
Dick: We can do it, though 😊
Faith: And heck yeah! Oh, also.
[Faith sent a voice message:] Damian climbs out of bed, takes a decent stride away from the furniture, and does a backflip.
Damian did as told. He held in his scream of fury, and sat back on his bed.
Damian: Never do that again. Whatever that was.
Faith: Wow, he didn't scream in anger! I'm glad /gen. Also agreed
Tim: Girl is OP af💀
Faith: It’s the power of the Thu’um, but I just speak English >w<
Stephanie: i kinda wanna try 😮
Faith: Also yeah, sorry for being a Mary-Sue, everybody blame Ra's for bringing this shit into DC Comicsssss
Tim: Nah, don't apologise.
Dick: Do you *remember* the magic users we've got?
Faith: Oh yeeeeah, sorry, too used to being mean to myself
Stephanie: mood honestly
Barbara: Well, *that's* going to change, Miss Faith!
Faith: Honestly, that would be nice.😄
Barbara: ❤️
Faith: Are you sitting or standing, Steph?
Stephanie: i’m laying in bed bored as shit
Faith: REAL XD
Faith: Also feel free to get this on video for evidence, up to you
Stephanie: oooh bet, lemme record this, go ahead!
[Faith sent a voice message:] Stephanie runs to the wall, runs up the wall, does a cartwheel as she reaches the ceiling, and lands firmly on her feet.
[Stephanie shared a video.]
Stephanie: THAT WAS SO MUCH FUN!!!
Barbara: Nice flip, Steph!
Dick: Good form 👍
Stephanie: Thanks!
Tim: I mean, I wasn’t doubting your dragon powers were real, but hey! They’re real!
Faith: But uh yeah! I think the magic should be easy for me. It'll be trying to get my body to work like it did in high school that'll be the problem 🙁
Dick: How fit were you in school?
Faith: I could lift 420lbs on the leg press.
Dick: Nice!
Barbara: Wow!!
Stephanie: damn!
Tim: You had strong legs!
Dick: You had an injury?
Faith: Yeah, I broke my left patella in tenth grade. I'll spare y'all the story for now, but it gave me anxiety and depression, and that led to a rough last semester and an even rougher grade eleven and twelve. I tried homeschooling, but Internet and fanfiction writing hooked me, and I would have been just fine at the high school branch near the police station, but then I met the one IRL boyfriend I’ve had, and then I was even more depressed. Another story for another time. I used to play volleyball and dance, and now I can only dance while sitting down. It’s not quite the same to make a choreography and be unable to do it. Hence my magic pearl!
Dick: You fit right in with us. You had a rough life too. And now you've been given the opportunity to take your life back.😊
Faith: Yeah! I mean my job is going fine, and Bruce just approved the idea I had for my Earth-33 self to return and continue her life, so no worries there. But I've spent so much time reading and consuming media just trying to understand how people make friends, and what family is like! Not that my adoptive family didn't love me, or try to teach me. My foster parents just screwed up *bad*. I was a Benadryl kid.
Dick: That sucks. Sorry to hear that.
Barbara: Awww, yeah, sorry. 😢
Faith: Again, I could literally go on, but you get the point.
Stephanie: yep.
Barbara: You're welcome to talk to us about yourself anytime, Faith! I'm sure you know plenty about us already ha ha.
Faith: Maybe not plenty, but enough to be very comfortable.
Barbara: Good!
Dick: Awesome.
Tim: So, are you aiming to get your 420 lift back?
Faith: I mean, that'd be *amazing*, I'd like to try!
Dick: Well, when you're not sick, we’re abducting you from the mansion. 🤪
Faith: Woo hoo!
Stephanie: i have a question!
Faith: Shoot.
Stephanie: where are you from? like, the country
Faith: I’m Canadian. Yes, I've been to America. We visited my adoptive dad's family in Gilmer, Texas in Easter of 2008 or '9. It was *so hot*. We flew kites, had authentic iced tea that Mom only let us have a bit of 'cause it had caffeine, there was a wasp on the bathtub that was in the backyard, and I remember briefly playing Tetris and one of the galaxy shooters with one of our cousins. And we went to the zoo! I vaguely remember the black panther, the birds, and the rhinos. We took a weird route there, but a more expected route back. I *think* that's the trip we stopped in Seattle or something to sea the ocean? I remember seeing the trees you used to be allowed to walk/drive through.
Barbara: You're just so full of stories. ❤️❤️
Faith: Aw, thanks!
Stephanie: deadpool or wolverine?
Faith: Smash both but Deadpool first unless the chemistry isn't there, ditto reasoning for Wolverine, marry Deadpool, talk history with Wolverine, I don’t think he’d like me enough to marry me; no killing here, folks.
Stephanie: wow. what a slut /aff
Faith: Thanks, I learned it from the cult of Asherah that the Yahwehists tore down, but before then, R34 and Bayonetta. Also Catwoman, again. Poison Ivy, too. OH and Her Imperial Condescendence from Homestuck.
Barbara: Oh my Gooood…
Stephanie: oh she’s *chaotic* gay!
Tim: Not Homestuck!! 😭 😭 😭
Faith: I used to be a Nepeta kinnie. Now I’m an Eridan sympathiser and fucker.
Tim: NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Stephanie: AAAAAAAAAAA!!!!
Dick: (Points at the cuss) Get outta my sandwich!
Faith: (Mine turtle) Hello!
Dick: LOL
Stephanie: lmao!
Barbara: LOL!
Tim: oh of course you like asdfmovie /aff
Faith: Anyway yeah! This will be fun if my body stops breaking after the first couple of weeks or so!
Barbara: Oh, we get hurt aaaalllll the time.
Dick: Yep.
Tim: Yyyyyep.
Stephanie: uh-huh!
Damian: Yeah.
Faith: I know, I've seen the panels… I don't usually save time or money to buy or even pirate comics tbh.
Stephanie: Fair.
Tim: Yeah.
Faith: OK! I'm gonna try to sleep now! Nice meeting y'all! 👋
Stephanie: Byyyyeeee!
Barbara: TTYL!
Dick: Bye! 😄
Tim: Sleep well, Faith!
Damian: See ya.
Faith has changed her status to Do Not Disturb.
Faith has changed her status to flu needs the z’s.
Tim: She’s got a good sense of humor.
Dick: Yeah, she seems easy to get along with.
Barbara: I think we're her only friends, though. 😉
Dick: Yeah.
Stephanie: yeah
Tim: Yeeeeah. Not that I mind, though.
Barbara: Neither do I.
Stephanie: same
Dick: Ditto. Some people just need the winds of fate to blow differently for something to go their way.
Barbara: Oh, for sure.
Tim: True.
Stephanie: i'm excited to help her, though! and be her friend. 😊
Tim: Heck yeah!
Barbara: Bruce, could you take her to the Belfry when she's not sick to start with the basics?
Bruce: Sure. 🙂
Dick: Yes, great idea.
Damian: Is it mandatory?
Dick: Nope. If you don’t feel like it, you don't have to, Damian.
Damian: 'Kay.
Dick: I think that's all for now, yeah?
Tim: Yeah.
Barbara: I think so!
Stephanie: yeah, no ideas for now.
Dick: All right. We'll let Faith know when she's done snoozing and go from there. [Multiple people Liked this message.]

ALIEN ROMULUS
SPOILER WARNING
From Below the Cut
just want to say this is all my opinion but let's get into a rating from me lol
So overall I set a rating for Alien Romulus to a 8.5/10
This movie to me was great. there were a few drawbacks overall in which I feel took away from some of the horror elements in this movie like the amount of references to all of the other movies before it, and when I say all, I mean ALL of the movies both new and old
The thing about this movie is that I both hated and loved the fact that it was a mash up of every single alien movie before it, love in the fact that the tech was the same as the original movies (something people complained about in Prometheus) and that the original alien designs stayed the same in both looks and mannerisms
The thing I mainly disliked was the fact it was a mash up of every single movie, don't get me wrong some were really good and well done but others were kinda... cringe? In a way that you almost get second hand embarrassment from knowing them but in a laughing way
The actors I think did an amazing job and the general cinematography is great, it feels modern without taking away the old charm and tricks
The settings and placement of the general look and feel of everything was great with certain references to all movies and I believe even the game
Now I'm going to talk about the scenes in specific
just so everyone knows I'm not doing a summery I'm just talking about my favorite and or least favorite scenes
--
So in the beginning I just want to praise the use of the colony, an ALIVE colony I might add, and even though it's only a short part I do like the little insight you learn about the lives of the people and main characters, I also do like the clothes and lighting of these scene(s)
However in the beginning beginning aka the opening, they get transported fossilized rock and take it into research or whatever, not much is known other than the fact that the alien is back lol, it did kinda remind me of dead space with the artifact and it bringing the aliens along
And I think it was coolI also love the use of the androids in this film, with Andy being known as an android in the very beginning which proves to be useful later (Also I might add I do find the brother sister dynamic of the two bittersweet)
As for the facehugger scenes I absolutely loved them, I do think it was a little cliche with the whole body temperature thing and the fact that they couldn't see them because Andy said that if they sweat at all they kinda die and I felt like you would definitely sweat at that temperature especially with that stress but honestly it's kinda the nerd in me
However for the alien scene I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT I loved the use of a cacoon and the remembrance of acid for blood playing an important impact
I don't like the use of pressure in here I do feel like in space the pressure would definitely kill faster than it did/didn't but I appreciate the mention of it mainly in the ending scenes where her helmet is cracked and she didn't die? Maybe I need to catch up on space and pressure but idkkk anyway still the nerd in me
My favorite scenes were in the beginning they were walking down the halls and the lights was muahhh chefs kiss loved the tension and shot
I do genuinely like the lab part in the movie where the black liquid goop was shown as something good but was actually bad as seen with the rat transforming into its own thing
Because in the end although the Xenomorphic are parasites they are their own species in the end meaning they are going to be separate form whatever you put them in (idk if that made sense)
Now I will say I was a little hesitant when I realized in the end it was going to be a spin off of alien resurrection (aka alien 4) but I will say they did it amazingly
I do absolutely love their take of the human alien hybrid baby and the love the thing of the creature/baby eating its own mother like many species do and the creatures design is something that I will admit truthfully disturbed me the uncanny but also very human face and expressions made my skin chill a bit
I did not like the acid seen I feel like it could have been better
Final notes
--
I wrote this in my car directly after the movie so it's a little scatter brained but I needed to get it out lol
Okay truthfully that was all I really wanted to talk about I genuinely love this movie and thought it was great, and I will say that I'm just waiting for fanfiction of xenos of that one scene in the elevator where it caught Rain with it's tail, I feel as if people are going to eat that up 😂
Overall 8.5/10
Some cringey lines and scenes which are sooo obviously ripped from the past movies along with concepts but I think the movie was great and a fun time for sure
--
Also a thank you to @ozzgin for hyping the movie up for me 😆

Unexpected Meetings
Hey y’all! This is a work of fiction that I’ve been working on and I really hope you guys enjoy it! It’s a bit of a Detroit: Become Human! AU with a little bit of NHL hockey mixed into it, so if you’re unfamiliar with one fandom, or both, hopefully I did an alright job with giving enough background info and insight. I want to also thank @onigirimiya11 for proof-reading this and helping me with editing, and my younger sister for being a beta reader. Once again, I hope you enjoy this! :)

Kamski University – Detroit, MI
Raindrops fell upon the dim lit streets of Detroit, puddling and creating mirrors and portals to another universe. The arched building of Kamski University pointed at the sky, as if it were pointing to a god. But there was no other god in Detroit besides Elijah Kamski himself. Android mastermind, a scientist who played god, created machine so close to man, perhaps even a mirror of man. He lived away on the outskirts of Detroit, away from the public eye.
Students at Kamski University were some of the most brilliant minds, only a select few could be enrolled after passing a complex exam along with a few other tests of intelligence. Many looked up to the students at Kamski University. Young, intuitive, dedicated researchers were a model for students all across the globe. They followed the steps of Kamski, working on technology to further advance what man has created, to be better than before. Why play god and end what you have done when you can raise demi-gods?
Many scholars at this time spend their hours working on a project, a new advancement for Detroit, or researching a new discovery, in hopes of clarifying what it would mean for the world. It was never about themselves, it was always what they could do for the future, for Kamski.
She sat there staring at the laptop screen, sorting the lines of code into a more organized unit, the numbers and commands becoming a language that she understood by heart. It was like a tongue that she grew up with, a song that she has recited plenty of times. It started to become a blur in her eyes, the numbers not making sense like it used to a minute ago, the errors in her code becoming more prominent. Her eyes strained at the glaring screen, searching for a solution that wasn’t so evident.
Frustration was building up inside of her, a beast that was starting to be awoken with one small mistake, a monster that could snap at any given moment. She got up and shut the laptop closed, removing the irritating lines of code out of her sight. Her hands reached to her bag, to the door handle, and out of the confining dorm room.
Few minutes from the campus of Kamski University was a museum, a time capsule embedded into the center of Detroit, moments of history frozen into one single place all together. The rain blurred the sharp corners and lights of the building, fading it into the background of the large, noisy city.
She stepped inside of the museum, the soft glow of the lights inside pulling her in further, lulling her into a calm state of mind, a gentle focus on the artifacts on display within the museum. Her footsteps echoed in the almost vacant museum, making it evident that she was allowed to be lost in her own world for a fragment of time.

Little Caesars Arena – Detroit, MI
The Florida Panthers won an ice hockey game in overtime against the Detroit Red Wings, causing the city to sulk in its loss while the rowdy players filled up a local bar to celebrate victory. Matthew Tkachuk was a well known name amongst hockey players, making his way to the Hockey Hall of Fame with his dedication to winning the Stanley Cup, and with his latest game, scoring the winning goal in overtime.
“C’mon Chucky, just one drink at the bar, please!” Lundell pleaded. “You scored in OT! We’ve got to celebrate right?” He searched Matthew’s face for an answer.
Matthew shook his head and sighed, “No, sorry guys.” The group of men groaned and threw complaints around for a bit.
“Just one drink, Matty,” Lucas said. “and then you can go do whatever you want.”
“No, I’m sorry, I just want to relax and go to sleep early tonight guys,” the chorus of groans and sighs started again.
“Alright guys, let’s leave him alone now. He kind of does have a point,” he went off. “Hope you have fun though Matty.”
Matthew nodded and gave them a tight-lipped smile before heading down the street away from the crowded bar. The small corner-shops and store-fronts passed by him like a hazy memory as he walked down the street. Some stores with toys he played with as a kid, books that he got lost in as a young child.
His footsteps were leading him elsewhere, and he was wandering around the streets of Detroit aimlessly. Wanderlust was drifting around within him, like a young child with freedom in an amusement park full of stuffed animals on display, and the sickly-sweet smell of treats hung around the corner.
The fuzzy city skyline of Detroit painted the night sky, replacing the stars with man-made ones. Dabbles of blue hues hung in the air against metal skyscrapers that grasped the sky, reaching for something above the stormy dark clouds.
He stood on the museum steps, taking in everything that was in front of him. The columns of the building towered over him, the soft glow of the museum pulled him in, the gritty aura of Detroit this late alongside the unpleasant weather conditions seemed to force him into the museum.
And there he stood, inside the museum, seemingly alone with all the trinkets of history. Soft, blue lights illuminated the artifacts and sculptures in the museum, and occasional warm yellow lights hung around certain displays like fireflies. Paintings aligned on the wall stared back at him, peering at his every step deeper into the museum.

11:04:53 PM - 13th November 2042
Henderson Museum - Detroit, MI
She walked around the museum for a little while, getting lost in the taxidermied wildlife displays. She saw how eerily still the lion looks in a defensive stature against another lion. The simulated background looked so realistic, as if she was there right in front of the fight that was presented right in front of her.
In another, she saw a sleuth of bear cubs fighting each other playfully in a forest, their paws up in the air defensively, mouths agape as if they were caught mid-roar. She smiled softly at the thought of animals experiencing joy just like humans do.
As she wandered around the dimly lit museum, she became more entranced than before, each display more immersing than the last. She observed the great blue whales that seemed to float across the ceiling of the museum slowly, the jellyfish that drifted in a rhythmic motion around the center, with different soft translucent colors floating against the blue ocean above, and starfish of varying colors and patterns clung onto the walls, decorating them in a constellation only found on Earth.
Her footsteps led her along to a small library in the museum. It was well furnished with some small tables and a couple of chairs, as well as some cozy cushions that were sat on a rug that was on the floor. Old-fashioned oil lamps were hung against the wall, giving the room a warm yellow glow that comforted her how Detroit couldn’t. The tall, oak-wood bookshelves were well stocked with encyclopedias and textbooks regarding various subjects that the museum displayed.
She reached for a book that sat on top of a table nearby one of the bookshelves and picked it up in her hands. Examining the cover, she noticed it was 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea, a childhood classic of hers. She daydreamed about exploring what could be under the ocean surface, what kind of creatures she would see, and all the sorts of tales she would be able to tell.
As she took a step backwards, she accidentally bumped into someone behind her, which startled her for a brief moment before she let out an apology.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t see you there-” she laughed awkwardly as her face became flushed in embarrassment.
“No no, it’s alright.” The man smiled. “It’s pretty late anyways so I didn’t expect another person here either.” He chuckled.
She sent a friendly smile back, observing him lightly, noticing the mop of curly hair on his head, the little gap between his front teeth, and his warm, soft eyes.
“It’s nice to meet someone in the museum, even if it’s this late ya’know,” he laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. The warm glow of the library illuminated his gentle smile and friendly demeanor.
“Yeah it is, even if I wanted to be here alone, it’s a bit nicer having someone around,”
“Ouch,” he feigned a feeling of hurt, “trying to kick me out of a museum now?”
She quickly tried to sputter out an apology but he finished his thought.
“Just kidding around, sorry. I understand sometimes though, it was pretty cool seeing the museum being empty with no people inside,” he said as he looked at her, “or at least, when I thought there were no people inside.”
Her head nodded in agreement before adding on to his statement. “No, yeah, totally agree. Detroit really outdid themselves with this museum.” She set the book she had previously picked up back on the table nearby her, before turning back to him. “And dare I say, better than the development of androids?” she smirked.
He scoffed, “What makes you say that?”
“Know a few things here and there.” She shrugged.
He looked at her skeptically before continuing to speak again. “Well it’s nice having some company, want to walk around the museum with me?”
“Yeah, sure, that’d be nice,” she smiled.
“Great! I really wanted to explore the planetarium exhibit. I've always wanted to learn more about the planets, but I’ve never had enough time to because of-” He quickly cut himself off before he started rambling. “I’m so sorry, I ramble sometimes,” he said sheepishly.
“No it’s okay, I like hearing you talk.” She looked at him warmly.
He felt himself blush and it seemed like it was just the both of them in the museum, with all the time in the world to explore whatever their hearts desire. “I’m glad to hear that.” His smile was bright, the little gap between his teeth making him look all the more sweet.
She stood near the open doorway of the library and motioned for him to follow along. “Should we go check out the planetarium?”
He nodded and gave her a soft smile, to which she started walking towards the planetarium. They both exited the library, and the warm, mellow glow of the library subsided. It was replaced with a cool, deep blue cast, the signature of Detroit was evident. As they both got closer to the planetarium, stars began slowly appearing on the ceiling, little white dots glimmered against the dark background, mimicking the night sky if it wasn’t so harshly wiped out by the cities.
He could hardly make out her silhouette in the dim lighting, which worried him a bit, because he didn’t want her to get lost or separated from him. As he thought about it, he found it odd that he was worried about her, having just met a half-hour ago, but he pushed the thought aside and reasoned it as ‘basic human morals’ to care about losing a stranger that he had just met.
They both reached the planetarium and were greeted by an android staff member near the entrance. “Welcome to the Henderson Museum Planetarium. How many occupants are viewing the show today?”
“Just two,” he said.
“Wonderful, please follow me,” the android instructed.
They both followed behind the android and into the planetarium. It was a large setting, a quiet and dark circular theater and a large dome-shaped ceiling hung above their heads. She looked up in awe, seeing how full of grandeur the planetarium was.
“Holy smokes, this is-” she paused, “spectacular.”
He stood beside her, looking upwards as well, but he was held speechless. His heart felt so full of lovingness for the moment he was held in. He moved his gaze to her face, noticing her wonder for even just the empty theater, and the beauty she held was amplified tenfold by her desire to explore.
The speakers in the theater announced that the showing was about to begin and viewers should be seated to best enjoy the experience. Lights around the theater began to dim, and they both took their seats.
As soon as they were both seated, the large dome was lit up with a vivid projection of the galaxy, the Milky Way was stunning with all the hues of blue and purple bands on display. Stars were scattered in different variations, and some shone brighter than others.
“This is gorgeous,” he spoke breathlessly.
“It really is.” Her gaze was still held in the magnificent view in front of her. He looked at her gently, observing how the stars reflected in her eyes, and how she was so captivated by each description of the galaxy.
He thought about holding her hand for a moment, the feeling of having her hand in his in a gentle clasp, sharing this moment together.
“Can I ask you a question?” he whispered softly.
She turned his head to him, her attention broken away from the dome above. Her head nodded as a response.
“May I,” he paused, “may I hold your hand?” Time froze as he waited for her answer. Was he being too forward? His stomach fell, he started to regret even asking the question.
“Sure thing,” she responded with a soft smile. Her face was dusted in a blush, as he held his hand out to her. She gently put her hand within his, resting it peacefully. His heart fluttered at the touch and she felt the same way as well. A fuzzy-warm feeling drifted over them like a blanket, and he wasn’t sure if it was because of how late it was in the night or if it was the warmth of her hand in his.
The display went on, multiple planets and moons being described with intricate detail, their bright and yet soft colors spun in front of the sparkling stars. The moment went on as if they were floating amongst the stars and planets without anyone else. It felt so surreal to be in a situation like this, away from all the stress of reality.

Henderson Museum - Detroit, MI
As they both exited the museum, hands were still intertwined with each other closely, the harsh winter air of Detroit struck them both, causing them to shiver. He glanced over at her and noticed how much colder she seemed, and how her grasp on him was closer than before.
He took his jacket off before offering it to her, “Here, take my jacket. Don’t want you to catch a cold or anything,” he said.
She accepted his offer and put the jacket over her shoulders, already feeling how much warmth it provided. “Thank you so much, but what about you?” she questioned. “I don’t want you getting sick either,”
“I can handle it, I’m a tough guy,” he chuckled.
She nodded her head in response as they started walking down the street. His cologne was slightly noticeable on his jacket, a calm and yet bold scent. The rain had eased at this hour, but the cold weather had not. It was much more quiet without cars and traffic in the street, and it seemed much less like the noisy Detroit she knew by heart.
“Sorry if this question is personal, but are you able to get home? I can call a cab if you want,” he asked.
“No worries, I’m able to get home easily.” She smiled. “Just a brief walk to the university down there,”
He nodded in acknowledgement, allowing the peaceful silence between the two of them to linger in the air. As they continued walking, the realization struck him, he was most likely never going to see her again. He didn’t want her to leave his life, he wanted to spend more time with her like this.
“Can I get your number? I mean,” he corrected himself quickly, “so that we can talk again. I really enjoyed tonight, even if it wasn’t planned,”
She found his awkwardness endearing and she smiled back, “Of course, I really enjoyed tonight as well, even if it was unexpected,”
They exchanged phone numbers and she looked up at him. “I am so sorry, but what’s your name?”
He then realized that he never even told her his name, to which he responded with embarrassment. “I am truly sorry,” he chuckled, “my name is Matthew.”
“That’s a cute name, do you want your jacket back Matthew?” she asked.
“No thanks, it looks a lot better on you.” He winked.
They both laughed as they parted ways, the sparks between them ablaze, their hearts both warm and content with what they’ve shared and the memories they’ve created.

MARKUS — who is he to the people around him?
prev | next
No matter what your opinion on him might be, I'm sure most people already know Markus. But if it was difficult getting a solid fandom perspective of North, it was nearly impossible with Markus (seriously, people hate characters and they don't even know why they do it). So there's no use talking about him from a fandom perspective besides, I'm sure I've done that multiple times already.
David Cage uses Markus less like an actual character but more as a plot device and while I don't like it at all, I can't help but think about how this might look and play out from an in-game point of view.
MARKUS TO OTHER PEOPLE
O1.) JERICHO:
From the perspective of other androids, Markus is an enigma. No one really knows who he is or where he came from. He was a sudden appearance, an android they'd most likely never seen. And within hours of him being in Jericho, a lot of things start to happen. Within a week, he's led a revolution (or at least tried to, depending on how well that goes for you).
The androids we encounter while playing as Connor all seem to have an obsession with a mythological figure they believe will save them; RA9. As players of the game, we know this RA9 figure is supposed to be us (or at least, Bryan Dechart says it's us). RA9 is supposed to be the all deciding thing that chooses which direction the game's events go to. But the androids in Jericho don't know that.
As far as they're concerned, RA9 is a physical being of it's own right that will swoop in and save them from humanity. And it's so convenient that Markus just walks in and does exactly that. It doesn't help that they know nothing of him except his name and maybe his model type if they try checking hard and that he's the only one we see consistently converting androids (I have a theory all androids can convert but that's not important right now). This could further solidify the "RA9" image in their heads.
The only other character that knows him personally is North. She's the only character that gets insight into his past—especially after he interfaces with her to share data. So when he's not available, everyone turns to North to take his place.
Some of the background conversations in crossroads confirm all this. If Markus is dead, you hear;
"Markus is dead? He was rA9! Who's going to lead us now?"
"North is going to take his place. She knew him best."
If Markus is alive, you hear;
"What's Markus doing? He's the leader. If he's rA9, it's up to him to save our people!"
It's easier to remove personhood and emotions from someone you know so little about. They become a shadow of their name rather than an actual person and I feel like that's how the androids, especially the ones that don't know him personally, will most likely perceive him. Ironically, in a game about personhood, Markus becomes less of a person and more of an idea.
To the androids, Markus is the one carrying out their desires. He becomes Jericho's sword. They trust him and they believe he knows exactly what to do even if he doesn't necessarily believe that himself or if he doesn't prove himself worthy of this faith they have in him. As North says to Josh if Markus dies midway through the revolution;
"... Markus would know what to do."
O2.) THE PUBLIC:
No matter how supportive public opinion is, Markus will always symbolize a sort of herald. He's the first face they will associate with the android revolution and Public Enemy Number 1. He represents change and humans are terrified of change.
Out of the three categories of people, the public are the ones who know him the least. They have the most detached image and therefore, their perception will be the furthest away from who Markus truly is. It's also the reason why this part of the post is short.
The humans seem to see him as some type of android overlord and the source of Jericho's power. For majority of the revolution, all main antagonists have had one goal; "get Markus". They all believe killing Markus will end the revolution and things will return back to normal.
I have an personal headcanon that humans might buy into the deification of Markus but depending on how much they like him, it might take on different tones. He could be demonized or glorified.
O3.) FAMILY:
Personally, this is my favorite perception of Markus even though some parts are messed up. It's the closest we can get to him from an external point of view. This is where we get an insight into his life and the things that make him who he is.
To Carl, Markus is the beam of hope that arrives at the perfect time. Carl has just lost use of his leg and is unable to create art like he used to. Leo's is already using Red Ice at this point which I suppose was further stressing Carl out.
Markus is a gift, specifically designed to suit Carl's needs as a live in nurse. (why he couldn't hire a human nurse is beyond me) He's also an android and will do whatever Carl asks with no complaints. He can mold himself to suit whoever he's receiving orders from. It's like Connor says:
"I'm whatever you want me to be lieutenant, your partner, your buddy to drink with, or just a machine, designed to accomplish a task…"
Or what Markus says:
"An object, designed to obey them…"
And what Carl wanted was a son and someone to take care of him. It also seems like he wanted someone who was easier to take care of than the flawed human son he already had. He's happy to be Markus' father and sees himself as his caretaker rather than the other way around. He tells Markus;
"One day, I won't be here to take care of you anymore. You'll have to protect yourself, and make your choices… Decide who you are, and wanna become… This world doesn't like those who are different, Markus. Don't let anyone tell you who you should be."
I find this line very telling of Carl's perception of Markus. Because the truth of the matter is that if Carl isn't around to take care of Markus, he will be shut down or repurposed. By law, Markus is Carl's property the same way a house is property. To the humans Markus is nothing without Carl's ownership.
Carl refuses to believe that though. To him, Markus is the son he wanted but never had.
It's possible Carl knows androids are sentient, capable of deciding for themselves but he never gives Markus the opportunity to do so. He nudges Markus in the direction of "free will" while also holding him in place with a leash. He tells him that life is about making choices but strictly never gives him the chance to make one for himself. A perfect example of this is straight up telling Markus to endure when he's been pushed around by Leo.
I cannot deny that Carl loves Markus. He calls him his son and they've known each other for a very long time. Carl loves Markus so dearly he refuses to let him go until Leo forces them apart.
Markus also loves Carl. He calls him his father and Carl is his human lens to viewing and navigating the world. As far as Markus is concerned, Carl is the reason he has so much faith in humanity. It doesn't matter which path you take, Markus tries to always hope that humans an androids can live together. That there's a chance they will one day drop their weapons and create a better future, even though this comes of sounding naïve.
But Carl's love is conditional.
It comes with it's own strings attached because at its core, there's a power imbalance between the both of them. Carl was Markus handler and owner first before he was his father and still owner. There's a certain type of control that comes with ownership over someone like that; ownership over both their autonomy and how they express themselves.
After Markus' deviation, it seems Carl realizes whatever hold he had on Markus is gone. He's not obliged to obey him anymore—he's a deviant. But he forgets that with Markus' deviancy comes emotions (good or bad) and individuality. When Markus expresses himself in a way Carl doesn't like, he becomes controlling and tries to dictate how he should feel.
If Markus is angry over the death of many androids, Carl basically tells him that when he wasn't a deviant (aka when he was still easier to control) he was better.
"You used to be so calm and thoughtful… Now all I see is anger…"
But if Markus swallows his anger and chooses to say something more palatable to Carl, he is offered comfort.
To Leo, Markus is a representation of everything incorrect about him. Everything he lacks, Markus has.
Markus is obedient. Markus has his father's affections. Markus doesn't make mistakes. Markus doesn't complain. Markus doesn't get tired. Markus is an android; he's designed to be flawless and to appeal to his handler (Carl). Leo seems to think with Markus' gone, he and Carl can foster their parent/son relationship.
"... I'm gonna destroy you, then it'll just be me and my dad. And nobody's gonna give a shit. You know why?"
He blames the divide between himself and Carl as an effect of Markus' presence, even though he's known Carl for longer than Markus has. To him, if Markus wasn't there, maybe he would be his father's favorite. Leo spent the greater time of his life without his father and only finally meets him after he turns sixteen. We don't know what causes this but it's safe to say that after Leo was introduced to his father, Markus arrives.
I like to think Leo might have been excited about the new, shiny android—until his father replaced him with it, of course.
CONCLUSION
All these would be very interesting to explore further; not really in this same format but in creative writing format. What other ways do you guys think Markus will be perceived by the other characters. I didn't want to talk about them individually because it would take forever but I did consider individual characters like Hank, North and Connor.
#basic ass title#but it was the only thing I could come up with 😞#this was supposed to be longer because I wanted to also#talk about how markus might see himself#but nah I'll let that one stew in my head for longer#detroit become human#dbh markus#type: text#dbh meta#kinda?

As someone who has no concept of GFL could you share with us a few characters you like and what they're about?
TLDR: Female Androids with varying personalities.
=====
In a VERY VERY brief nutshell:
The story is essentially a massive hodgepodge of Metal Gear Solid, Tom Clancy, and Ghost in the Shell. T-Dolls are androids created specifically for warfare and resemble female humans, and have their own personalities.
Despite that, they are highly efficient killing machines, since at the heart of it they are still created for only war.
In-game there is an unholy amount of characters but I will give you a spoiler free rundown on three of my absolute favorite T-Dolls: (These are examples since I love pretty much everyone included in the blog)
M4A1 is the squad leader of the Anti-Rain Team (AR Team). She is prone to self-doubt/blame due to her special nature, but wants to protect her friends at any cost.
AN-94 is a member of Task Force DEFY, being aloof and seemingly cold, and has unflinching loyalty towards AK-12 who she believes to be her successor.
AK-15 is a member of Task Force DEFY, remaining stoic but her wrath makes her terrifying to fight against when it does show, being the strongest T-Doll of the Neo-Soviet Union.
=====
A good reason why I simp for them comes from their dialogue whenever they speak to you (The Commander) as they're very charming, insightful, or just really funny.
Whatever I post will usually come from the more lighthearted stories coming from the game such as the holiday events or non-canon.
Because the actual canon uh...
HEY LOOK AT THIS FUNNY FANART I FOUND:
Essentially the main characters of the game are the AR Team and Task Force Defy. There are of course many MANY others but these are the ones I can write for because i have their personalities locked down the most.
And since the characters can switch from slice of life mode to combat, they are really fun and dynamic to write for.
One ask I can go from them experiencing what a date is for the first time to reacting to the human they care about the most getting injured.
T-Dolls fascinate me as a writer and a lover of scifi.
...Of course it helps that their designs are VERY attractive but thats a given, since this anime.
But I hope that answers your question somewhat on Girls Frontline and why I love it and the characters!

I've posted a new fic! (Finally!)
Summary: Gavin has a secret - he wasn't born an alpha. For years he's kept it under wraps, but when his suppressants start to fail and he goes into heat, he has no choice but to tell Nines the truth. However, the two of them learn that Gavin's body has changed in the years he's been living as an alpha…
-
The very first thing Nines learned when he joined the DPD was to watch out for Detective Reed. This was a warning given to him first by Connor, his predecessor, who had already had several poor encounters with the alpha in just his first week there, and then by Hank, who backed up his partner’s sentiment. A third warning came a few minutes later from Captain Fowler himself, just before calling said human into his office and assigning the two of them as partners.
That was seven months ago, and while they’d had their differences, especially in the beginning, Nines and Gavin had grown to tolerate and then to like each other. They worked well together, Nines speeding up investigations with his advanced analysis abilities while Gavin handled talking to the witnesses and victims. Occasionally he cracked a difficult case with a ‘gut feeling’ an android had no hope of replicating - Nines couldn’t comprehend it, but more often than not the detective ended up being right.
Today, the detective wasn’t offering any such insights. They’d arrived at the scene and Nines had immediately gotten to work scanning the environment and piecing together the clues he found, but Gavin lagged in joining him. Usually Gavin would be right behind him, almost making it a game to figure things out before the android, but this time he was distracted.
“Is everything alright, Detective?” Nines asked as he rose from a crouch, red painting two of his fingers. He placed them in his mouth as he waited for an answer, getting the DNA profile of the victim in his HUD. Gerald Huntings, alpha, 38, with a long arrest history of red ice distribution. It wasn’t hard to imagine what might have done him in; an exchange gone wrong or a rivalry taken to the extreme, most likely.
“Huh?” Gavin looked over, Nines’ question taking a moment to sink in. “Yeah, I’m fine. Just this damn heat getting to me.” He pulled at his collar, regretting not leaving his leather jacket in the car. Like hell was he going to take it off in a place like this unless he wanted to be taking home the whole crime scene on his clothes.
“…Detective, the temperature has not changed since we left the station.” Nines frowned. “Are you sure you’re feeling alright?”
“Seriously?” It had been mildly warm that morning, nowhere near as hot as Gavin was feeling right now. “Fuck, maybe I’m getting sick, then.” Concerned, Nines offered to test him for a fever, but Gavin shook his head. “Let’s just finish up here first, if I’m not feeling better then I’ll call off the rest of the day.”
Nines wasn’t sure that was the best plan, but he knew how stubborn the alpha could be when it came to their work. He’d get Gavin’s cooperation much more easily if he wasn’t simultaneously trying to pull him away from the case. “I should have all the evidence logged within ten minutes. If you want to get some air, I can meet you outside when I’m done.”
The human looked like he was going to argue, but then something came over his face, and he mumbled, “Y-Yeah, I think I will.” He turned to leave, only to run smack into someone else coming in.
“Watch it, kid.” Hank stood in the doorway, Connor visible over his shoulder in the hall. Gavin bristled at being called ‘kid’, but he didn’t get a chance to snap back. The lieutenant’s nose curled as he looked down at the younger alpha, catching a familiar scent coming off him. “Christ, Reed, what the hell are you doing here smelling like that?”
Gavin’s face reddened. “It’s just sweat, old man, I’ve smelled worse on you,” he defended himself. He could feel his shirt clinging to his back, and he knew when he got home he was going to strip himself of his clothes and immediately hop into a cold shower.
“No, it’s not that.” Connor stepped around Hank, but stayed near him and the door. “You smell like rut, Gavin.” Designed after omegas, Connor had the strongest sense of smell out of anyone in the room. If he smelled rut, then there was no doubt that’s what it was. “And it’s strong. You shouldn’t have even come in today if you’re this close.”
“What? No.” Gavin shook his head. There was no way. “I’m on suppressants. I haven’t had a cycle in years.”
“Suppressants have been known to fail after prolonged use.” After hearing Connor say that Gavin was in rut, Nines abandoned his investigation and joined the group standing by the exit. His own sense of smell was dulled in comparison to his predecessor, stronger than a human beta but not approaching that of an alpha. Only now that the others had pointed it out could he detect a hint of something in Gavin’s scent that wasn’t usually there. “I think Connor’s assessment is most likely correct. We should get you home.”
Gavin knew he was right, but he still weakly protested, “But the case-”
“Connor and I can wrap things up,” Hank interrupted him. “Go home, Reed, before you stink up the whole house.”
A hand pressed into Gavin’s back, Nines giving him a gentle push forward. Gavin reluctantly gave in, letting the android guide him out of the room. Hank and Connor moved out of their way, but as they passed, a whiff of the omega’s scent hit him like a smack to the face. He’d never liked Connor, and that extended to his scent - he smelled artificial and too sweet for Gavin’s tastes. But this time, those things didn’t bother him at all. The sweetness was enticing, and the faint plastic that underlay every android’s scent faded into the background.
Gavin didn’t realise that he had stopped walking, or that he was staring at Connor, until a deep growl filled the room and shook him out of his stupor. Hank glared at him, bringing a protective arm in front of the omega to put himself between Connor and the rut-addled alpha. Gavin was a good man even if he was a pain in the ass, but that didn’t mean he could be trusted to control himself when he was like this.
For the same reason, Nines grabbed onto the hood of Gavin’s jacket in case he needed to hold the man back. Thankfully, it wasn’t necessary. The shock of realising he’d been ready to jump Connor, of all people, had Gavin eager to get out as soon as possible. As he rushed out the door, Nines at his heels, Hank called after them, “Make sure he doesn’t drive himself home!”
There was no argument from Gavin about that. As stubborn as he could be, even he recognized that he shouldn’t be in control of a vehicle right now. He let Nines guide him out of the house and to his car, getting into the passenger side and immediately yanking off his jacket and throwing it into the back seat. Nines got in beside him, taking the keys and starting the car.
It was usually Gavin who started up the conversations they had when driving, but today he was quiet, sitting with his forehead pressed to the window, the coolness of it providing him with only slight relief to the fire raging in his body.
How long had it been since he’d last felt like this? It must have been ten years ago at least that he’d started the suppressants. Sure, he knew they wouldn’t last forever, but the thought of what would happen if he took a break like the directions recommended made him feel sick. He’d pushed it, more than he should have, and now he was going to be hit with the consequences of his actions - the story of his life, basically.
If he had been any normal alpha, this wouldn’t be such a big deal. A week of dealing with his rampant hormones and he’d be good as new and back to work. But Gavin wasn’t a normal alpha, despite what he projected to everyone around him. Few people at work knew that before he’d ever joined the DPD, Gavin Reed had once been an omega. He was more open about being a trans man, sharing the fact with a few people he was close to, but being trans-secondary wasn’t nearly as accepted by society yet, so he’d kept that part of himself a secret ever since leaving home all those years ago.
That meant Gavin was the only one who knew that what was happening to his body wasn’t a rut - it was a heat.

Detroit: Become Human - chapter analysis "The Hostage"
Since I liked the first chapter of DBH a lot and thought it was a great opening chapter, I want to go a little in-depth about things the player learns throughout the chapter and what makes it so good in my opinion
The game starts with Connor doing a coin trick in the elevator while the date and time are given. This lets the player know that the game is set in the future and that in this future, androids are capable of incredible precision. Once he arrives at his destination, he readjusts his tie which highlights his role as the negotiator
The first things Connor can do are looking at a portrait and saving a fish - or leaving it to die, depending on player choice. Saving it increases the software instability, though the player doesn't know what that is yet, and it is one of the first things Connor can do that isn't part of his mission. He is then interrupted by a woman, depicted on the portrait and therefore assumed to be the mother of the hostage, asking him to save her daughter, until she notices that he himself is an android as well. She then pleads that the police send a human negotiator instead of an android to take care of the matter. Despite not knowing what's going on, the player is given the information through this interaction that an android has been involved and that it has had terrible consequences for the family that seemingly lives in the apartment
While at the crime scene, the player is barely given any spoken clues about what is happening: The police members and the SWAT team are uncooperative and are so tense that all the information Connor receives is through searching the rooms for clues and slowly piecing together what exactly happened before the deviant took the little girl hostage and why he is threatening to jump off the building's roof with her. Through all of this, the reconstruction feature is introduced and the time sensitivity shows the player that you cannot waste a lot of time in Connor's chapters
The level design is very smart because there are some clues in almost every room. This compartment style gives the player great insight into what Connor's story is about: It tells the player that Connor is great at deducing what happened based on evidence, it shows that he is capable of solving puzzles and that he understands circumstances in a quick manner, and that he is able to stay calm in stressful situations, unlike the deviant he has to deal with
The probability of success is a key feature in this chapter which helps the player understand how much they still need to find and what actions can help to succeed in their mission
The actual negotiation with Daniel highlights that it is either crucial to take a violent approach by shooting Daniel, or that it's necessary to take a more pacifistic approach through building trust. This is incredibly important for the player to know in future chapters since you are often given the choice to either play Red Connor (doing anything for the mission) or Blue Connor (making decisions that are regarded as humane)
This chapter has six endings which shows the tremendous amount of possibilities in the game and how many consequences your choices can have, both in exploration and dialogue
It is possible to succeed without further consequences for Connor, it's possible to succeed but to get Connor killed (though he comes back so there's no real consequence here aside from shocking the player that a character died right in the first chapter), and it's possible to fail the mission completely
The tense and dramatic atmosphere is something the player can immerse themselves in while being introduced to various of Connor's features which makes this chapter very fun and informative for the ones who play it. The soundtrack only adds to this intense feeling. But the most important part of what this chapter is trying to say is rather obvious: "Be careful what you do, your choices can have fatal consequences"

Foodfight! (ugh)
I voted for Dex Dogtective in a poll the other day and it reminded me that I never actually watched that shitty Foodfight! movie from 2012. So I did. This was not a good idea.
There isn't a whole lot to say about Foodfight! that hasn't already been said. The project was in development hell for so long that it defaulted on its debt, and investors took over to at least get something out the door. The most obvious issue is the bad animation, though that speaks for itself.
But here's the thing: This movie could've had Pixar-quality animation and it'd still be hot garbage. "What if mascots for popular products lived in your local store?" is a middling idea at best, and the story mishandles it every step of the way.
It would be easy to say this movie needed a lot of popular corporate mascots to really work, and the best they could do was Charlie the Tuna and the Vlasic stork. But I remember thinking the first Toy Story wouldn't work without heavy hitters like Barbie and Lego, and yet they got along fine with just Mr. Potato Head and Etch-a-Sketch. Similarly, Wreck-It Ralph succeeded with a cast of skillful pastiches of familiar video game characters, and mere cameos by the big names. In theory Foodfight! could make up a cereal mascot that reminds you of Tony the Tiger while leaving room for changes to fit the plot. But in execution we get...Dex Dogtective.
Dex is the mascot for Cinnamon Sleuth cereal, and also a detective, and also a dog, and also he dresses like Indiana Jones, and also he likes raisins, and also he runs a nightclub like Rick Blaine in Casablanca. So he has like six different gimmicks, and the cereal mascot part is easily the least important. The only reason you'd even suspect Dex is a character from a box of cereal is because he's in a movie about brand mascots. Indeed, none of the characters created for this movie look like they were designed to sell anything, least of all groceries.
The strongest concept in the movie (which isn't saying much) is that the brands are facing an invasion by the evil Brand X. This makes sense, seeing as Brand X is by definition generic, with no iconic mascot except the pejorative and mysterious implications of that term. Listen, I know this sounds dumb, but you could do something with this. In a world of where brands come to life in the form of their mascots, who or what emerges from a brand without a mascot? How would such a being differ from the likes of, say, Count Chocula? Such a character might reject some fundamental principle that the good guys hold dear.
At this juncture, a sharper "secret lives of things that aren't alive" movie could make some insightful point that ties the story together. Something about how the world needs brand mascots, I suppose. But nobody actually needs brand mascots, for pete's sake, except for the people who came up with this movie. So there's no core idea for Brand X to oppose--the good guys' world exists just to exist, so the bad guys exist just to destroy it. With that baseline laziness established, Brand X paradoxically has lots of mascots, all of whom look like Nazis for some reason.
youtube
Well, okay, technically Brand X's leader, Lady X, looks less like a Nazi and more like the Baroness from Cobra. But it figures that she doesn't quite fit in with the rest, since she created Brand X! Yeah, so at the end it's revealed she was a mascot for a poorly-marketed brand of prunes, and when she was discontinued she went to Brazil (???) for plastic surgery (???) to make her all hot. Then she somehow amassed the resources in the real world to create Brand X, complete with a human-sized android (!!!) so she could pass herself off as a real person and sell her wares to stores.
Dex is astonished by this backstory, since the mascots are like three inches tall and can't even leave the store. Lady X explains the plot hole by saying "Humans! When you look like this you can get them to do anything. Size only counts for men."
"Size only counts for men."
"Size only counts for men."
(She's talking about fucking.)
(fucking)
(-ucking -ucking -king)
Anyway, I need a nap now. Please don't watch this movie.
#foodfight!#foodfight#dex dogtective#i keep trying to call him 'dexter dogtective' for some reason#as if his name needs to be clunkier somehow

All My Soul Within Me, Burning.
Content: 1k words. dbz crossover - inspired fic ( fnaf inspired ). android saga "what if" au. memory loss / small recovery. small plot twist. drabble w/ little plot. not completely proofread. parallels! spookies! excitement!╰(*°▽°*)╯ characters: au!android 16, bulma, raditz, gohan, goku, krillin Warning: referenced character death, implied existential crisis, soft angst ♫ what lies within
I will put you back together. / Leave the demon to his demons.
Bio-mechanical Android engineering wasn't exactly in the Brief's work description, let alone repairing a prototype not meant to see the light of day yet according to the notes in Dr. Gero's specs. Were it not for him, this would seem impossible to do. Or better yet, something so inhumane wouldn't exist to begin with. His madness created this mess and the rest of the earth was stuck dealing with it, or at least everyone strong enough to stand in for the Cell Games.
With all the labor and time that went into the repairs, it was hard to believe it once it was all over. But Bulma and her father had managed to completely repair Android 16 along with some other safety precautions put in place. For what it was worth, there was at least one more fighter on their side against Perfect Cell and they got to walk away with some admittedly genius insight on bioengineering. Yet it seemed only hopes and prayers were what they could rely on the most now in these pending days to determine the future of the Earth. However, it also gave Android 16 some time to reflect on this purposeless life.
Does an android like him even get to live a life catered to his own choices? What does he do with himself now that his primary function has been made obsolete? Even his t̶̢̙͠ẁ̶̧̩̲́ō̴̝ ̷̡̞̊̚̚c̶̘̆̇͒ö̴̢͎́m̸̱͎͍̂p̶̹̻̫̀̒̽a̷͓͔̣͌͐͊n̵̡̺̜͊̌i̶͎͖͛̑ǒ̷̞̂̎ń̷̫̮̝͛s̶̹̒ who wished for this kind of freedom was gone, completely altering even his backup directive. If he had them, then he at least wouldn't be facing the likelihood of being free, but rudderless and alone.
Android 16 took a moment to look over his repairs in a mirror before completely redressing from his fix. It exceeded expectations so much that it was hard to distinguish the patchwork from his original casing—Skin? When his piercing blue gaze left its own reflection, it lingered on the bandage taped to his cheek and the dark red spot where his skin bled through.
̵̧̞͌S̵̥̺̀͌͜ọ̷̥̌͂m̵̨̻͗̈e̵̯̲̊̈͘͜t̵̬͈̿͒h̸̙̞͋̏ͅí̷͉̦̈́n̴̖͓̥̔g̸̳̬͙̊̈ ̸̤͎͈͑i̸̧̬͋̋͗s̵̘̱͂͜͠ ̶͈̬̂͆͒w̸̝̳͍̒̕r̷͙͒̽o̵̜͊n̴͇̒̈͘g̷̺̽ ̶̢̠́̍ẉ̵̥̉i̷̟͍͊̄̑t̴̙̯̆͜h̷̬̲̉́ ̴̲͎̈m̶̻̣̿̄́e̴̬̼̊͝.̵̣̜͠ ̵̮͇̈
Bulma interrupted before he could peel the bandage off, checking in on her handiwork after tending to her baby. "You're really starting to look like your old self. It's kind of hard to believe you're on our side now." She proudly declared before running down her list of last-minute diagnostics while he listened and predicted most of them. She referenced a few other things that seemed counterintuitive to Dr. Gero's intention with the Android but benefited him better under his new construction. It's like he was upgraded. Refurbished into something useful again.
Once more, it raised the question of what was to become of him now that he was fully operational again. Maybe the Briefs had an answer for that, too. He's never had to question what his role is before if he is not the one to kill Son Goku.
"You know, I'm not even sure what to call you now. From the scope of crazy notes, I got an idea of how Dr. Gero hot-wired you together, but...I don't know, do you even remember your name?"
"Android 16." He automatically answered her.
She didn't flinch at that response. Only raised the electronic pad with a screen visible from the back. "...Right. But your identity was more than just what Dr. Gero did to your body, ya know." Bulma hesitated to continue, but her scientific curiosity couldn't let her hold back bringing up the knowledge. She wanted to test her theory. " You used to work for a bunch of creeps up to no good before Dr. Gero did this to you. If you're having trouble remembering, your name is ̴̟̬͓̀͘[r̵͚̖͋e̵̮̾̽d̸̩͛͒a̵͚͒̇c̶̡̬̻̎t̵̥̑̅͝ẹ̶̈́̎̕d̷̩̭̖́̍̂]"
A soundless vision glitches through the programming code when she speaks the name. A memory. Just a visual moving slow and fast, though, blurred and colored by his once mortal senses. A memory of himself: small and embraced in nature until the wild-haired woman came to lift him in her arms speaking that same name. And then, wars. Wars and victories and death in the service of being the most dominant power in this world and the next. [R̶̨̧̞̃̈́é̵̥̙̈ͅd̶̛̝̰̂͝ͅa̷̹͠c̸̙͐ͅt̷̪͈̯̃ę̵̲̪̾͊d̴͓̥͝] was fortunate enough to be near the peak of the elites of the world and their glory, then felled by something...less than adequate for a soldier of his ranking.
̵̙̠̅͜͝Í̵̙̙͋͜͝ț̷̺͎̓̈́͆'̵͔͓̠̌͂̅s̶͚̠̰̄̃ ̸̫͋͗͋m̶̦͕̗͠e̷̋͜͝.̵̰̇̄ ̷͈͖̬̓͒͊I̶̦̽́̑͜t̸̡̲͊́͋'̵̛̠̳ŝ̸͖̇͜ ̴̪̈́͌ṁ̸̥͓̼͝è̸͇͈̪.̶͙̈̈́ ̵̮̳́̇͜Î̸̮̗̓̌ţ̶̘̭̈́̉'̴͔͎͇̔ş̸̳̤́̉ ̸̞̘̈́͑̋m̴̧̬̕e̷̮̱̾̌̐.̵͉̣͛̽ ̵̲̟̍̾I̷̫̓͆̏t̷̮̼͇̍͗'̷̧̀s̶͔̑ ̵͉̩͒m̵͓̳͛̊̔e̵̢̳͛̚.̵̞̈̒͗
Bulma watched as the cybernetic blue eyes widened and completely blackened, showing nothing but the small lights behind them like white pupils in a void. As she feared, some of Dr. Gero's fail-safes were still in place. The screen of her pad flashed a warning in response to this reaction with a code quickly reading off to try to diagnose and resolve it in real time. She was grateful to have disengaged the bomb inside him but she didn't feel too safe to turn her back at the moment. She clutched a remote in her hand, thumb grazing over the red button when Android 16 suddenly blinked and the blue eyes returned.
"I am...functional again." He reassured her once registering her panicked expression, gaze flicking to her remote and back to her eyes. "It's under control."
At the Cell Games, Krillin was the first to approach Android 16. Genuinely happy to see him in better condition than when he dropped him off at Bulma's, even wearing the brand of Capsule Corp like a badge of honor where the Red Ribbon logo used to be. The Ascended Gohan joined Krillin, surprised at the sight for sure. Just like the others who kept their distance, Gohan was surprised to find an ally in someone who tried to kill his father. Even with Vegeta and Piccolo in present company. But with his father's training and Krillin's faith in the bio-android, he knew there was nothing to be concerned about from him. At least for now.
The way Android 16 stared down at him didn't come off too friendly, either. But Gohan would not flinch at it. The vacant, blue glare then flicked over his head towards his father, Goku looking back at the large android in kind. He then made his way over to join Gohan's side without breaking eye contact. Leaving a tense silence between the small huddle.
"R̷̞̺͓̘͉̋̇́̐̋͆ą̸̱̺̲͔̘̫͌d̶͍͆̍ĭ̸͔͖͌̔͠ṱ̸͆z̸͙̎̒͂͘." Goku stated with a firm acknowledgment of the form. He lightly tilted his head as he looked up at the large bio-android. In spite of his memories tied to this body, seeing his brother like this felt wrong. He could sense him, but it didn't feel like him anymore. "So it really is you. Dr. Gero did this to you?"
Į̷̼͐ ̴̡̢̯̎̍͂s̵̃͜h̶͉͝o̴͓̊́̕ũ̶̯̺l̴͍͚͌d̴̻̲̍ͅ ̶͚͇̻̅́b̴̡̮̙͆̈ê̵͚͊͠ ̷͎̥̳̿̉͊d̸̟̝͌ë̷̦͖͘ͅa̸̮͑d̶̟̐͛.̶͙͔̀ ̶̨̛̠̞B̶̨̫̈ů̷͍̑̌t̵̤̮́͆ ̵͔͕̍̈́ͅỈ̸̯͎̜̚'̴̧̪̒̓ͅm̷̤͌̈̓ͅ ̷͍̀n̵̛̝͆o̴̫̾̿t̴̖͓͖́͝.̸̬̺̔̏̈ ̸̢̙̋͒̐
"An irrelevant name. Android 16 will suffice." Android 16 answered simply. A dead man's name no longer fits his artificially enhanced mortal body. Though it was better suited for the thing inside, housing his trapped agony. It puts an enigmatic smirk on his face, teetering to a familiar, wicked expression. "But... it's me."
