Do you know if Dobson ever posted on 4chan's /ic/ (Artwork & Critique) board? I heard some people there saying it happened, but can't find any trace of it myself.

From what I remember, he actually did go there because he wanted to prove he could “listen to criticism”, even making a couple comics where he followed their advice.

But, as he revealed years later, he was bitter and angry about it the entire time and still is to this day.

No so causal Rewrite

This would be a total reworking of Andrew Dobson’s Alex Ze Pirate. And actually make it an adult thing instead of the gross and stupid ‘totes for kids when a lady is comiting sexual assaults' all the time’ comic. 

How would we go about this without being sued? Well its not like I’m profiting, nor am I going to do anything just yet plus the only relevant bits are the names. In essence it would be entirely my own. I’m trying to think of just what would be going into it, because the main plot is thus: 

The Four Curses of Alex the Pirate. 

Yes this. It will be a quasi Zelda Wind Waker world/Water world. Where there is an island (hidden of course) where people can go to make wishes. Alex is on a ship but her boat she is on crashes during a freak storm. (Plot relevant thing yes!) So she ends up being granted, Four Wishes. 

Only with every wish there is a CURSE that goes with it. All dependent on fate (Rolls of a D&D dice! Just for kicks!) so they can be anywhere from silly to deadly. Alex’s only ‘known’ curse to her crew is that ‘everyone thinks she is a guy’. But that is just the known curse. They assume that she was granted one wish, just like the majority of people who wish. (and no ‘I don’t wish either’ that grants you an extra special place where you are suffering a lot more) 

ALL her crew members say for Sam, where those that made wishes and were ‘cursed’. Atea was cursed to be a ‘rat’ lady. Her wish I’m not sure about, but I have thought of her going from male to female for her wish. 

Talus-the beaver chipmunk furry thing- I wouldn’t make a furry chipmunk thing all the time. Reverse werewolf logic baby. He wished to be an expert chef, and now is only a human being one night of the month and no one wants to have hair all in their food. Say for our crew who don’t mind. 

‘Uncle’ Peggy. He made the wish to be an expert fighter. Guess what his curse was? Well if you knew this series Peggy has no arms or legs. So that was his curse. 

The whole idea would be to find a way to ‘end’ the curses of Alex.

Basically the wish granting entity is very... fun. Uses a 4d in order to see how many wishes to grant that is actually weighted to grant only One wish. So it makes Alex one of the most special cases out there. Along with the plot relevant storm. Which it turns out is the last one who got four wishes. (He/she/them) wished to be the best sailor in the world for one wish. Turns out fate is cruel and made the area around the ship (one mile/league) into a storm forever. Alex thinks that maybe saving the person might rid her of one of the curses at least because...

Saving another person cursed. One of her curses (the one that makes everyone think she is a male) goes away. So the logic is set on them finding cursed people to save. Thus the story is all set out and made. 

I am really only stuck on WHAT curses Alex is suffering from other than that single ‘silly’ curse. I know I want one to be REALLY bad. Like ‘you’d be dead soon’ kind of bad. Thus increasing the stakes to do this. 

And worst of all, I’ve been thinking of locking all comic panels to a 4 by 4 format. Which might not work at all buuuut could be one of the curses. 

But unmentioned plot things will go down below here. I have to put it like this because of very horrible things. So just note trigger warning of description of violence against children, and trafficking.

Alex, Atea, and Sam are all victims of a child slavery ring. They basically get children and use them as meat shields for wishes. Doing the bare minimum to ‘do good’ to the kid so that the child makes the wish for the person, and thus gets the curse. Not the person making the wish. Only these three were able to get out of it. Sam because Alex buys him before they head to the island. 

Alex and Atea because they made their wishes for themselves. But I kind of want Alex to be implied to be blind at the least. So that would be ONE of her wishes, to be able to see. Which I think would have the better one to be the ‘silly’ curse to be the relation to. That she gets to see but everyone ‘sees’ her wrong? See what I am getting with this? 

But the major plot point here, which is the final one keep in mind, would be to destroy this. Which frees everyone from their curses. Including Sam who would be one who makes a wish at the end here, despite being told of all the bad. He would of course get one wish, like the rest. I think I want his curse to be something that would be like ‘no heart’ and it would basically make him into something he is not. A mindless killer, nearly killing his ‘friend’ Talus before the curses are ended maybe. 

Keep in mind this is all rough sort of plotting. But the idea is to have the premise of pirates, shenanigan's and in a world where ANYTHING can happen. Including lolcat pirates if you must have them. Because hey, this wish granting thing likes to have fun, and fate is a cruel mistress. 

The underlining theme is that ‘you CAN change fate’ that basically if you think that you are ‘cursed’ that you CAN change it. You can BREAK THE CURSE. That curse doesn’t have to be your fate.

yesterday the spn fandom was being all maudlin and depressing because the cw announced all the shows they renewed and it was ‘’the first time ever that spn wasn’t on that list’’ and i was actually starting to feel a little bit of sadness and nostalgia and perhaps even grief. i thought my emotions about the show ending had finally kicked in.

but then today promo pics came out for the new episode and i was like ‘’...never mind.’’ it’s not even that the promo pictures depict anything bad, it’s just that any image of andrew dabb’s spn completely zaps my interest. all i feel is a dimly annoyed sense of...ugh. like it’s not quite worthy of an eye roll but it’s an instant boner killer.

what i’m getting at here is that spn is coming back soon, which means we’re entering the final stretch. which means this zombie show dragging itself along on bloody stumps, leaving blood trails all over everyone’s nice shit will FINALLY be ending after a very long, slow, incredibly painful and undignified death. which means DOBBY WILL FINALLY BE FREE!
