David Cuenca: A 22-year-old central defender, also a long-time Real Madrid player. He was promoted to Castilla in 2021 but was loaned to UD Almeria B. After being sold to UD Almeria B in 2022, he moved to RSC Inter FC, which later became Real Madrid C.

 'Showtime' defends IBF Flyweight crown this Saturday

The British star was bitterly disappointed after losing his shot at unifying the division, and believes that it was his Mexican rival that pulled the plug on the fight, instead choosing to face easier opposition in order to keep hold of his World Title belt.  “It’s not just that I want all of the belts, I don’t want anyone else to have them," said Edwards. I don’t focus on him. I don’t need to talk about him." It was not okay for Heather Heyer, Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber, Joyce Fienberg, Richard Gottfried, Rose Mallinger, Jerry Rabinowitz, Cecil & David Rosenthal, Bernice & Sylvan Simon, Daniel Stein, Melvin Wax, Irving Younger, Andre Anchondo, Jordan Anchondo, Arturo Benavides, Leonardo Campos, Angie Englisbee, Maria Flores, Raul Flores, Guillermo "Memo" Garcia, Jorge Calvillo García, Adolfo Cerros Hernández, Alexander Gerhard Hoffman, David Johnson, Luis Alfonzo Juarez, Maria Eugenia Legarreta Rothe, Maribel (Campos) Loya, Ivan Filiberto Manzano, Elsa Mendoza Marquez, Gloria Irma Márquez, Margie Reckard, Sara Esther Regalado Moriel, Javier Rodriguez, Teresa Sanchez, Juan Velazquez, or any of the other people killed by white supremacists whose actions were aided and abetted by the Trump presidency. Or the school children who would not have been shot to death if we had actual gun control laws in this country, a thing that would have been possible to achieve if Trump had lost in 2016.

Yeah, sure, the majority of us in the United States will probably survive. That's how statistics work. And if that's what somebody needs to hear in order to move forward, then I guess saying such things has a purpose. But it's looking pretty shitty for anybody living in Ukraine and to me, it comes across as disrespectful to the people whose lives have been lost in no small part thanks to what goes down in US elections.

I needed somebody today who would say not only that this is not okay, but this is *really* not okay.

Thank you for this. I can't help but write what I feel, even if some of it hasn't been the most optimistic message to send. There is a reality that we need to come to terms with in order to find some way forward. I'm pissed off and I'm disgusted with this country, so I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing because it is therapeutic for me right now and I'm too old to go around punching and kicking people.

I do want to say that I'm also cognizant of the fact that some people just need some time to allow this reality to settle. I certainly don't want to add to the stress or darkness that some of us are feeling right now. There is no denying that this is fucking terrible, but we will regroup and find a way through it. It won't be easy and we're going to have to fight, but I don't want anybody to think that there is genuinely no hope. There's always something that we can do, even if it seems bleak.

If I'm writing something or somebody else is saying something that you're not ready to hear, it's okay to do what you need to do to remain healthy. These posts are going to be here whenever you might feel like reading them. You can and should step away from this if you just need a fucking break. It doesn't mean you're any less ready or willing to fight this battle than anybody else. Even if Trump and the rotten MAGA cult takes control of every lever of power, you can gain a personal victory by not allowing them to completely crush your faith in the future. You can be depressed and despair, but do not give up. Do not give them that power over you. We will find a way. We will get through this. We will figure out what it is that we need to do and who we need to back and how we need to attack, but taking care of your personal health and well-being is more immediately important than the bigger political battle or the next step in the resistance. Take care of yourselves first and we'll still be here and ready to eventually harness this anger and frustration and fucking disgust to defeat the MAGA movement and Trump's Christian nationalist personality cult.

The main thing, though, is that if you're really having a tough time in the immediate future, step away, take some time, go for a walk, read something that has absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump or American politics (if you need suggestions, I always have book recommendations!), and regroup. Again, we'll get through this, and as goofy and weird and ridiculous as Tumblr can be at times, there's always a community of people on this site willing to listen and help each other when we're struggling. So, if you are having trouble getting to tomorrow, reach out because there are scores of people here who will help get there with you.

Dear President Biden,

We are heartened by Friday’s release of the two American hostages, Judith Ranaan and her daughter Natalie Ranaan and by today’s release of two Israelis, Nurit Cooper and Yocheved Lifshitz, whose husbands remain in captivity.

But our relief is tempered by our overwhelming concern that 220 innocent people, including 30 children, remain captive by terrorists, threatened with torture and death. They were taken by Hamas in the savage massacre of October 7, where over 1,400 Israelis were slaughtered - women raped, families burned alive, and infants beheaded. 

Thank you for your unshakable moral conviction, leadership, and support for the Jewish people, who have been terrorized by Hamas since the group’s founding over 35 years ago, and for the Palestinians, who have also been terrorized, oppressed, and victimized by Hamas for the last 17 years that the group has been governing Gaza.

We all want the same thing: Freedom for Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side in peace. Freedom from the brutal violence spread by Hamas. And most urgently, in this moment, freedom for the hostages. 

We urge everyone to not rest until all hostages are released. No hostage can be left behind. Whether American, Argentinian, Australian, Azerbaijani, Brazilian, British, Canadian, Chilean, Chinese, Danish, Dutch, Eritrean, Filipino, French, German, Indian, Israeli, Italian, Kazakh, Mexican, Panamanian, Paraguayan, Peruvian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, South African, Spanish, Sri Lankan, Thai, Ukrainian, Uzbekistani or otherwise, we need to bring them home.

CHAPADA DOS VEADEIROS- Povos dos Campos Gerais > ANDRÉ DIB

Algumas décadas foram necessárias para que o livro Ansel Adams in Color ( Little, Brown and Company, 1993) do renomado fotógrafo americano tenha sido publicado. O californiano Adams (1902-1984) embora consagrado no fine art do preto e branco em suas imagens da paisagem americana começou a fotografar em cor ainda em 1935 quando da invenção do filme Kodachrome. Já o fotógrafo  André Dib, com seu Chapada dos Veadeiros-Povos dos Campos Gerais ( Ed. Origem, 2022), recentemente lançado no Festival Foto em Pauta de Tiradentes foi mais breve ao passar da cor, da qual é um virtuose para o monocromatismo.

Mineiro de Uberaba, radicado na Chapada dos Veadeiros desde 2002, Dib dedica-se a imagem ambiental essencialmente explorando lugares de difícil acesso fotografando paisagens, a fauna e flora cultivando o esplendor da cor destes ambientes como raros fotógrafos do gênero, caso do seu livro Chapada dos Veadeiros (Ed.Origem, 2020) [ leia aqui review em https://blogdojuanesteves.tumblr.com/post/616566807556407296/chapada-dos-veadeiros-andr%C3%A9-dib ], publicação esta que sustenta o livro atual, na qual a inserção humana faz-se mais presente, juntamente com a arrojada opção pelo preto e branco.

Dib confessa que após ver uma exposição do também mineiro Sebastião Salgado, a mesma chancelou a sua ideia- que já era forte em seu pensamento há algum tempo- de optar pelo preto e branco. Afinal, já havia publicado o livro acima em cor, entre outros tantos, frutos do seu vasto trabalho que já lhe rendeu mais de 15 prêmios no Brasil e no exterior. Entretanto, esta "nova" Chapada, é estruturada na impactante presença humana, expressa em belíssimos retratos que ganharam relevância pela sua edição, que traz o tratamento das imagens executado pelo fotógrafo paulista Valdemir Cunha, também editor e publisher do livro, amparadas pelas paisagens, que agora nos remetem ao renomado Adams.

Em texto introdutório, o professor Adilson Fernando Franzin, doutor em Letras pela Université Paris Sorbonne e pela Universidade de São Paulo ( USP) enfatiza a ideia dos retratos: "Gentes do mato e de grota, de vãos e veredas, de capinzais e roças; eis os povos dos campos gerais em permanente simbiose com o Cerrado, o segundo maior bioma da América do Sul." Para ele, "é valido lembrar que os habitantes destas cercanias,- a um só tempo, reais e míticas- formam a incontornável fonte de inspiração e a matéria viva a que lançou mão certo gigante das veredas para compor suas fabulosas histórias que percorreram todos os quadrantes do mundo. " Um chamado João" a quem Carlos Drumond de Andrade, com reverência, indagou num poema sobre o escritor que misticamente "guardava rios no bolso".

Acerta  Franzin na analogia a Guimarães Rosa (1908-1967). Os personagens de Dib são nascidos desta literatura assim como a literatura nasce deles. Não há como deixar de lembrar da inglesa Maureen Bisilliat com seu A João Guimarães Rosa ( Gráficos Brunner, 1979). Esta "dramaturgia" já faz algum tempo que é representada por imagens em outros livros. No entanto, poucas tem a relevância destas.

Para muitos artistas, o apelo de fotografar em preto e branco é, simplesmente, uma questão  emocional. Não é preciso ser um crítico de arte para perceber que as fotos em preto e branco costumam ser mais dramáticas do que as coloridas. Seus tons escuros e contrastes profundos muitas vezes instilam uma aura quase temperamental ou misteriosa no trabalho. Esse tipo de teatralidade é difícil de reproduzir na fotografia colorida, ainda que esta obtenha algum sucesso. Além disso, os neurobiólogos provaram que algo na fotografia em preto e branco. Sejam as gamas tonais, os pretos ricos ou a luminosidade, atrai-nos psicologicamente.

Por décadas, o filme monocromático imperou na arte. Algo que vinha desde o advento do filme moderno na década de 1880, tempos em que os fotógrafos concentraram-se em dominar o comportamento "básico" da fotografia moderna. Foi somente na década de 1930 que  começaram a explorar provisoriamente a fotografia colorida. Nos anos 1960, porém, o mundo da fotografia tornou-se uma explosão de cores com a invenção das câmeras instantâneas. Desde então, escolher a fotografia em preto e branco em vez da colorida tem sido uma escolha muito consciente. Por muitos anos, a fotografia em preto e branco foi o padrão escreveu o fotógrafo espanhol Samuel Cueto.

Certamente, ao olharmos a edição anterior de André Dib sobre a Chapada, vemos que a sua transição para o preto e branco não provocou perdas na exuberância da paisagem, pelo contráriio, esta "ressignificação" está plenamente alinhada com sua produção. O livro, como explica Franzin, " traz simultaneamente um registro sensível e crítico às questões ambientais mais urgentes da região, configurando-se como um brado em prol da natureza que ainda pulsa, instituindo, com engenho e arte, um libelo contra o obscurantismo e a ignorância de nossos dias, sem perder de vista a delicadeza do olhar que sonha não apenas o abraço telúrico em nacos de nuvens, mas também almeja a força transformadora, o alimento e a cura em mãos humanas." Daí a presença imprescindível dos retratos, que além de belos transmitem a contundência da resiliência do povo da região.

Povos dos Campos Gerais nos mostra igualmente o paradoxo da beleza transmitida entre a terra vibrante e aquela que é destruída, caracterizada aqui pelas imagens de incêndios de áreas imensas do Cerrado, tais como veredas e campos úmidos, ou como escreve o fotógrafo, zonas extremamente sensíveis que são degradadas de forma irreversível secando nascentes e mudando o comportamento do ciclo dos rios e de suas bacias hidrográficas. Segundo dados científicos recentes, estes acontecimentos constituem-se como uma das maiores causas da crise hídrica pela qual passamos nos últimos tempos.

Sendo uma espécie de cartografia do imaginário, como escreve o professor, o potencial narrativo de André Dib impressiona. Mas não somente um potencial natural que o fotógrafo possui, mas sendo uma marca de seu processo criativo e de uma concepção artística. "Não apenas na seara da fotografia documental, a qual prima por contar uma história qualquer, mas sua arte fotográfica, paradoxalmente, parece transcender o tempo e o espaço a tocar o mito num constante flerte com nossas páginas literárias mais genuínas." A publicação tem também um conjunto de detalhadas legendas e audiodrescrição,  que ampliam a função da mesma.

Cervantes llevaba 20 años sin publicar cuando sacó el 'Quijote'. La obra tuvo un éxito inmediato y enorme. A los dos años ya fue traducida al inglés.

01 ¿Quién escribió el 'Quijote'?

Miguel de Cervantes. Lo del "historiador arábigo" Cide Hamete Benengeli es sólo un marco literario para dar complejidad a la historia, un juego: Cervantes inventa al narrador; éste, a Alonso Quijano, que inventa a Don Quijote, que inventa a Dulcinea

02 ¿Existe un retrato de Cervantes?

Ninguno de los que se han creído es fiable, ni el que preside el salón de la Real Academia. Su autorretrato lo hace él en el prólogo de las Novelas ejemplares: "Éste que veis aquí, de rostro aguileño". Y en toda su obra.

03 ¿Es la obra de un hombre maduro?

Cervantes tenía casi 58 años cuando salió la primera parte; en aquella época, una edad avanzada. Llevaba 20 años sin publicar; por eso, entre otras cosas, sorprendió tanto su novela.

04 ¿Era un hombre muy culto?

Tuvo cierta educación humanística y le influy�� mucho la estancia en Italia. Era gran lector: "Yo soy aficionado a leer, aunque sean los papeles rotos de las calles".

05 ¿Fue feliz la vida de Cervantes?

No demasiado: fue cautivo en Argel, tuvo siempre dificultades económicas y problemas con la justicia; intentó pasar a América, pero no le dieron permiso

08 ¿Coincide cronológicamente con Shakespeare?

Murieron los dos en la misma fecha: 23 de abril de 1616. Pero no era el mismo día: en Inglaterra y España se usaban distintos calendarios.

09 Sancho Panza, ¿es un ignorante o un sabio?

Es tan complicado y sutil como Don Quijote: utiliza su locura para engañarle e inventa dos veces a Dulcinea. En sus juicios muestra una auténtica sabiduría popular, con buen sentido práctico e ingenio natural, todo verosímil en alguien de su condición.

10 ¿Qué significó para él Avellaneda?

En 1614, un año antes de que apareciera la segunda parte, publicó él su continuación apócrifa. No se sabe quién fue este escritor. Cervantes se queja amargamente, pero la publicación del libro de Avellaneda le hizo acelerar la conclusión de la segunda parte, en la que le desmiente varias veces.

11 ¿Usa cautelas e hipocresías en su novela?

Muchas; de no hacerlo así, un espíritu tan libre como Cervantes hubiera tenido grandes problemas en aquella España.

12 ¿Qué comen Don Quijote y Sancho?

Lo que se comía en la época: pan con queso y vino; bellotas y avellanas; tocino (comerlo demostraba que se era cristiano viejo), vaca y carnero; cebollas y ajos; gigote (carne picada), salpicón, duelos y quebrantos El plato nacional era la olla. En la novela se han encontrado hasta 150 formas de preparar los alimentos.

13 ¿Se basa en algún modelo real?

Se han propuesto varios, con el apellido Quijada o Quijano, o personajes trastornados por la lectura. Todo esto no importa demasiado; lo que interesa es lo que realiza artísticamente Cervantes, tenga en cuenta o no esos antecedentes.

14 ¿Es una parodia de las novelas de caballerías?

Sí, pero eso sólo es el punto de partida, el trampolín desde el que se lanza a una historia trascendental.

15 ¿Existieron realmente los caballeros andantes?

En los siglos XIV y XV recorrían Europa muchos caballeros andantes reales, en busca de fama y fortuna. A la altura de 1605, Don Quijote es ya un anacronismo viviente.

16 ¿Tuvo clara desde el principio la estructura de la novela?

Quizá no. Se ha supuesto que pensó primero en escribir una novela corta. Parece claro, en todo caso, que fue madurando su novela al tiempo que la escribía.

17 ¿Es mejor esta novela que las otras obras de Cervantes?

A enorme distancia, aunque él soñó siempre con ser poeta, y detalles de su genialidad se advierten en toda su obra; sobre todo, en los Entremeses y las Novelas ejemplares.

18 ¿Cómo era España cuando se escribe el 'Quijote'?

A comienzos del siglo XVII (reinado de Felipe III), España está pasando de la grandeza del imperio a su decadencia: crisis política, económica, militar y espiritual. "Cervantes, como Don Quijote, es un hombre capturado entre dos mundos, el viejo y el nuevo" (Carlos Fuentes).

19 ¿Refleja esta novela la situación española de su tiempo?

Como toda gran novela, es un documento único para entender la sociedad: los paisajes, los caminos, la vida cotidiana, oficios, fiestas Y, sobre todo, el sistema de valores y creencias.

20 ¿Aprobaba Cervantes la expulsión de los moriscos?

Tiene muchísimo cuidado de no criticar expresamente esa expulsión (1609), pero no comparte sus motivos y retrata con simpatía al morisco Ricote, al que abraza Sancho, y que suspira por su patria perdida: "Doquiera que estamos, lloramos por España".

21 ¿A qué tipo de lector va destinado?

A cualquier lector, no a los cervantistas ni a los profesores. Cada uno lo apreciará de modo distinto, ya lo sabía Cervantes: "Los niños la manosean, los mozos la leen, los hombres la entienden y los viejos la celebran".

22 ¿Lo pueden leer los niños?

Es una vieja tradición que los niños españoles se vayan familiarizando con el personaje y sus aventuras; naturalmente, en versiones abreviadas y con lenguaje modernizado, para evitar su rechazo. En todo caso, sólo entenderán de verdad la novela cuando sean adultos.

23 ¿Cuántas salidas realiza Don Quijote?

Tres; en cada una, parte de su aldea para volver a ella. La primera dura sólo dos jornadas. En la segunda recorre La Mancha hasta Sierra Morena. En la tercera cruza el Ebro, pasa unos días con los duques, "a la mitad del reino de Aragón", y llega a Barcelona y al mar.

24 ¿Pertenecía Don Quijote a las clases privilegiadas?

Era un hidalgo, el escalón más bajo de la nobleza; tenían algunos privilegios y presumían de su honor, pero solían tener un modesto pasar, cercano a veces a la pobreza.

25 ¿Cuál es el "lugar de La Mancha" donde vivía Don Quijote?

A Brazilian developer wants to make Boa Vista a one-stop shop for the country’s ultra rich. 

When Elon Musk visited Brazil last year, he never touched down at Sao Paulo’s international airport, nor did he set foot in the financial district of Faria Lima. In fact, he never set foot in the city at all.

Instead, his entire visit took place in Boa Vista, a gated community for the ultra rich that spans nearly half the size of Manhattan and sits 62 miles west of Sao Paulo. Musk landed at Catarina Executive International Airport, which caters to executive jets, and was whisked to Fazenda Boa Vista for lunch at the Hotel Fasano with then-President Jair Bolsonaro and some of Brazil’s wealthiest businessmen including billionaires Andre Esteves, Rubens Menin and Rubens Ometto.

The luxury community is one of the largest and most exclusive — in a country where the super rich have historically built ever higher walls around their compounds and move around in armored vehicles to fend off kidnappings and robbery attempts. Lawns and landscaping are carefully manicured, and the homes grow in size as you move deeper into the property.

Local developer JHSF Participacoes SA hosted an inauguration for the property’s 720-foot wide wave pool a few weeks ago, with world champion surfer Italo Ferreira in attendance. It’s also breaking ground on the third phase of the development and starting the sale of plots. Once the project is completed, JHSF envisions up to 45,000 high-income people living, working and playing in the vast expanse of once-rural land. Already, residents include Central Bank President Roberto Campos Neto, XP Inc. founder Guilherme Benchimol, Nubank co-founder Cristina Junqueira and former communications minister Fabio Faria, according to people with knowledge of the matter. JHSF declined to comment on homeowners.
