Sometimes I forget how sad J’onn is. He’s lost his entire planet, his family, his home, and nothing on earth can really make up for that. Sure he loves the league and considers them his new family, but it’s never really going to be the same. So…maybe…he bonds with Clark over that a little. Their experiences are different sure, but he does understand in a way. And I think, Clark would be more than happy to let J’onn tuck him away for a bit as a way to give J’onn a little of his home and culture back. It’s different and will never truly be the same again, but Clark is warm and heavy and alive, and that’s all J’onn needs

Re listening to all the sagas and got to the part in the Cyclops Saga where Polyphemus says in thanks for the lotus wine, Odysseus will be the last man to die
He's technically not wrong, he's just early. And what Polyphemus says does come to pass when Ody's whole crew is gone post-Thunder Bringer. It's a really unique piece of foreshadowing that takes a long time to pay off and can easily be overlooked in the moment, but it comes back when you listen again and realize it was always going to happen like that, with Odysseus left alone. It was just a matter of when.

I know and understand everyone grieves and deals with things in their own ways and you could look @ a lot of things as “spreading awareness” but I truly cannot fathom going through something terrible and thinking “let me get my phone and record this for tik tok”

is wip monday a thing?
“So, are you ready?”
Eddie's voice snaps Buck out of his numbness and his eyes leave the silhouette in the mirror to settle on the newcomer. Eddie's smile is reassuring, but they both know what's behind it. They remember perfectly the discussion they had the day before and the groom-to-be's tears.
“I'm ready.”
The lie is impossible to miss, but his best friend says nothing, just straightens his bow tie before removing an imaginary dust from his shoulder. He's searching for words, Eddie, hesitating, he who didn't hesitate just a few hours ago. The man who knew how to press where it hurts doesn't know if he should touch the sensitive spot again, or step back to avoid any further contact.
It's as if Buck's skin could still be bruised, as if there's still some part of him that hasn't been hurt yet.
“Remember, I parked the car not far from the entrance. We can still make a run for it if you feel like it.” The man's two brown orbs plunge into Buck's, and the groom-to-be can read in them much more than the amused look Eddie's trying so hard to maintain. There's an immense sadness in the man that's nothing more than a reflection of his own devastation. A mirror of his regrets, his mistakes, his hopes. “I've got your passport with me, and Chris packed a bag with cookies and tissues.”
For a moment, Buck imagines what his life would be like if he let his impulsiveness take over.
Tommy loved his impulsiveness.
“I'm not going to run away Eddie, Aubrey's waiting for me. I just panicked yesterday, it's nothing.” Eddie doesn't believe him. Eddie knows him way too well for that. “Really. I love her, and I'm going to marry her. I'm not a runner.” -like him.

Scary Marlowe is making me Think so bad like. All she’s ever been was a scared girl. She didn’t want to love Terry because she was so afraid of being abandoned, she grew up so fast and became a gothpunk seeker of darkness because she was so afraid to lose people she loves, so it was better to not love them at all.
And still, even with all her rage and anger and everything, even with how much she yelled at terry and told him she hated him, she did care. He was the dad who loved her, who’d show up to her soccer games and make her lunches and just be her father. She just wasn’t ready for that. They didn’t get the time to grow and open up and love one another, they didn’t get the time to become a family.
Terry Jr. understood Scary, how it felt to lose a father and then feel like this guy just barges in and imposes on your life. He wanted to be like Ron, have a relationship with scary that was like the one he was able to craft with his stepdad, and he understood that it would take a lot of time and a lot of understanding and a lot of love, and he was willing to wait until he was ready.
They could’ve been a great family, and they both knew it. They just didn’t have enough time.

I have been through beloved shows that i was very attached to getting canceled. I have also been through beloved shows that i was very attached to gradually becoming so terrible that I either stopped watching in disgust, or didn't stop watching and seethed with resentment at the ruin of a source of joy.
the second one's worse in my world

The snake speech amuses me so bad, cc!Dream is the king of loreheads his little Blockmen roleplay OC lives in his head rent-free to a big enough degree for him to randomly record an in-character monologue for fun. And it coinciding with c!Dream Eggs Monday makes the whole thing even funnier

Polaris X-Men 97 (1x08)
How messed up is it in the future 'utopia' Cable describes, Magneto’s own daughter Polaris, is shown performing slave labour. As an old woman no less! How long was she used by Bastion to perfect his world? How long did it take to break her and turn her into his servant?
It just makes everything that Magneto does so much more…important? Painful? Fruitless? I cannot even describe how awful it is in the whole context of the episode.
Magneto was forever marked and affected by the horrors he endured. I'm not sure if he knows about her being his daughter in the context of the show, but it makes her a symbol of one of his most important goals: she is a second-generation mutant child. One that is intelligent and powerful, who may become a leader and be part of a better world. He is not a great father, don't get me wrong, but their relationship has always had massive potential because he literally wants all mutants to be able to live fully, procreate, and advance freely!
I know he couldn't possibly have seen this image, nor does he fight explicitly for her, but he wants a better world for every mutant. In this future Bastion created, its clear that he failed in the worst way and his own blood suffered, just like he did.
