Five HCs for Haruka’s least pleasant experiences while journeying through Hoenn!
Send me “Five of those ______ HC’s” and fill in the blank with a topic, and I’ll give you five headcanons about that topic for my muse!
Top 5 worst Haruka experiences, ranked:
Tumblr media
5) The first few days of her journey, from Littleroot to Rustboro. From a trainer's perspective, nothing bad actually happened- in fact, aside from the very minor inconvenience of being held up for a few hours because of a collector searching for footprints, it was all smooth sailing. However, having just left Johto, where people loved her, to live in Hoenn, where she was a nobody, was a huge blow to her ego as well as a hard process to adjust to, making her barely put in any effort at first.
Combined with Brendan's condescending attitude, Norman volunteering her into helping out people she didn't even know and Wally's meekness making him an infuriating pupil, she was basically running on spite. Rustboro was a turning point as she finally found things in Hoenn that actually matched her interests, which convinced her to give the region a chance.
4) Making her way to Mossdeep, Sootopolis and Pacifidlog for the first time. While 'too much water' is an inside joke among trainers that took on the Hoenn league challenge, the truth is that the open sea is terrifying for someone who's not already familiar with it. Unlike a typical route, where one can stop whenever they want if they get tired, there are only a few islands where one can rest and stopping anywhere else is simply not an option.
Coupled with the looming threat of a certain pirate gang summoning a sea monster at any time, Haruka was definitely uneasy while making her way through Hoenn's water routes.
3) Evacuating the citizens of Sootopolis while Groudon and Kyogre fought. There was no telling when- or if- the pair of rampaging deities would be stopped, so Haruka's priority during the incident was making sure she could get as many people as possible out of the path of destruction. However, the city's unique traits that make a beautiful tourist spot also turned it into a death trap at that time, so she had to be creative if she wanted to save anyone and there was barely any time to come up with creative ideas.
With both the sky and the sea not being viable options, she had to rely on her Froslass' teleportation to individually move each citizen to a safe zone while the rest of her team held off Groudon and Kyogre. It was a long, tiring and extremely dangerous process that made her consider more than once causing some environmental damage of her own and just blasting a hole into the rock formation around the city to speed things up.
2) Everything about Zinnia. Right off the bat, learning that there was someone actively trying to make Team Magma and Team Aqua succeed despite knowing the consequences already ensured she'd have no sympathy for the Draconid, but Zinnia attacking and robbing several of her friends, insulting everyone along the way, while also refusing to explain anything about what she actually wanted even though later on it turned out to be something people would totally help her out with turned Haruka's opinion of her into actual disgust.
Learning more about Zinnia's past later on made her feel a little bit of sympathy, but overall Haruka still thinks that she's pathetic and wants distance.
1) Seafloor Cavern. The Sootopolis incident was a rough time for her, but at that point she at least already knew that she was working with the worst-case scenario. Exploring the underwater cave was her last chance of stopping Archie and making sure there would be no ecological disaster in the first place, so the fact that she wasn't working with the worst-case scenario yet made it even worse when she failed to make it in time.
Considering that, while Team Aqua made it there on a submarine, she had to rely on her Pokémon and was exhausted after the whole ordeal, that was the closest she got to giving up during her journey.
Honorable mentions: Route 111 (sandstorms are fucking painful), Team Magma hideout (it's built inside a volcano, people should be on fire), Mirage Island (no one likes being stranded in the middle of nowhere)

Pokemon SwSh Thoughts - Post Game
So I’ve finished Pokemon Sword’s primary content.  All that’s left is to finish up the PokeDex and drive myself insane trying to whip up all the variations of Alcremie.  That, and delaying buying an online subscription for as long as possible before I bother with trading to get the other game’s exclusives.  Here’s some thoughts on the game after the fact:
Pokemon SwSh really needed to come out in late 2020, period.  I’ve enjoyed the game so far, but I’ve played it for about a week without putting in too much time/effort grinding and I’ve already done pretty much everything there is to do.  I had my Starter leveled up to 100 before I even left the Wild Area for the very first time.  The pacing and content depth of this game are pretty much non-existent, whereas the majority of the effort has clearly been put toward refining the competitive combat development.  That’s great for those players who really like the battle system, but not so much for those of us who like story and broader gameplay elements.
Pro - Streamlined Gameplay One thing I’ve wanted in Pokemon for ages has been the ability to skip tutorials.  I understand the necessity of having them, as every game that comes out is going to be some player’s first and their presence is for that player.  But at least having the option to skip them for us old hats would be nice.  SwSh does that!  I was delighted to discover that the game allows you to bypass tutorials with a simple yes/no prompt when a new element is introduced.  How to catch Pokemon, type match-ups, how to heal at Pokemon Centers, and so forth - all the stuff previous games led us through by the nose has been made optional this time around.
I’ve seen some people saying that this game holds the player’s hand too much as it leads us from one gameplay element to the next and doesn’t let us progress at our own leisure.  To some degree this is true, but it’s far less egregious than in previous games, such as SuMo.  There’s yet to be a good balance between giving the player free reign and giving them enough guidance to ensure we never feel lost, but this has been an inoffensive example as far as I’m concerned.  The game does end up feeling rather railroaded, but I don’t necessarily consider that a fault of hand-holding. I’ll get to this matter later on.
Pro - The Style Galar is a very pretty region and the game makes good use of the Switch’s higher capacity to produce excellent backdrops for the player to explore.  Many of the Pokemon have charming animations (Falinks is my favorite on this respect).  The towns are all really well-designed in terms of visuals, especially compared to the bare-bones looks of older generations.  I feel like there could have been more, but what we got is still great.
Pro - Implications in Lore Those of you who know me know how much I love lore and world building.  Pokemon, as a franchise, is ripe with opportunity to examine its lore to the most tiny and obscure detail, so any new addition to the franchise is welcome on that front.  Galar has some pretty fascinating nuggets to contribute.
I love that the League in Galar, as well as competitive Pokemon Training in general, is treated like a career sport.  In specific, I love that this view and practice is exclusive to Galar - I wouldn’t like it at all if the entire franchise shifted to this angle, but it works great for a one-off region.  I like that Kabu specifically relocated himself from Hoenn to join the sports league as it doesn’t exist in his home region.  The Champion being a sort of major celebrity/superhero, the way Gym Leaders can recruit proteges or even inheritors of their rank from among contenders, the sort of clique all the Gym Leaders have with one another - it’s a really neat dynamic.  I also like the notion that actually completing the Gym Challenge isn’t something common and most Trainers who try rarely make it even halfway through.  That’s an interesting contrast to other regions where collecting Gym Badges seems almost as a given and the League itself is considered the real challenge, or where the whole endeavor is designed to be finished as a matter of course, like in Alola.
There’s also some really neat additions to the overall lore brought in from the Pokemon Masters mobile game.  While its place in canon is questionable, it does specifically mention Galar in a few places.  The idea that Pokemon who do not appear in the current Dex are banned from Galar by customs (perhaps identified as potentially dangerous/invasive species) is an interesting one.  So is the claim that Iris - the Champion of Unova in BW2 - is a cousin of Leon and Hop.  I love it when there are connections amid titles like that as it really helps build a more unified setting.
-Edit-: Darn, apparently those screenshots were fakes.  Strike that positive from the list, I suppose.
Mixed Pro/Con - The Availability of Pokemon and the Wild Area I’m not talking about Dexit - I have my own thoughts on that explained elsewhere and frankly don’t think it’s going to end up as bad as everyone is fretting over in the long run.  No, in this particular case I’m focused on the availability of Pokemon that are in the game itself.
To put it simply... it’s too easy.  I know that filling out the PokeDex isn’t supposed to be a huge challenge, but I’ve gotten the majority of it done - evolved forms, item-reliant forms, gender/size/color variations included - with pretty much no effort whatsoever.  I like the idea of the Wild Area in principle but what it ends up being in practice is lacking.  It’s too easy to just hoover up Pokemon at a breakneck pace, which leads to other zones and the Wild Area itself becoming pretty much immediately obsolete.  I have no need to return to them once I’ve gotten everything I need and there’s not enough general content to urge me to visit again.
The Wild Area itself is a big open sandbox that you can roam around in, which is nice compared to more linear zones in past games.  Galar has its railroad routes, but they’re brief (aside from the obligatory overlong water route, which even then is still quite a lot smaller than other regions’ have been).  However, it’s just that - a big open sandbox.  You can wander through it very easily and even traipse into the “high level” zones without fear because you can see all the Pokemon coming and give them a wide berth to avoid them.  There aren’t any obstacles or challenges within the Wild Area itself, and the game makes it supremely easy to find Pokemon even under specific weather/time conditions, which I feel is a missed opportunity.  I would have rather the Wild Area been MUCH bigger and more involved, full of places to explore and puzzles to solve.  Similarly, I would rather that Pokemon were more difficult to come by as well - that a greater deal of effort would have been put toward tracking and discovering certain harder-to-find Pokemon, with more in-game detective work to find your prize.
Mixed Pro/Con - The Characters The ensemble cast of new Gym Leaders are great - I enjoy the majority of them and frankly want more interactions, more encounters, just more in general.  That’s sort of the problem though - I want more.  The game itself criminally under-utilizes these characters, especially compared to how much more involved and explored Gym Leaders have been in recent games.  There is precious little content using the Gym Leaders here in Galar as it stands and I constantly found myself wanting them to hang out longer and have the chance to learn more about them.  Their League Cards are a neat little addition full of interesting tidbits about their histories, natures, and relationships with each other, but I would MUCH rather have gotten to see all that play out in the game itself rather than read it as a flavor blurb.
On the con side of this, however, is the fact that all of the characters are extremely one-dimensional.  We’ve been seeing a steady increase in the depth and development of supporting characters in the games since BW onward, with SuMo arguably having the most to date.  The overall characterization in SwSh is incredibly lacking by comparison as we don’t get nearly enough time to be with the cast, nor is the cast given the chance to present more than one note per.  Nobody has any sort of emotional growth or development.  The closest thing to a character arc in the game is Hop’s acceptance of the idea that he’s not going to be the Champion, but it doesn’t have anywhere near as much punch as it could and is over in the blink of an eye compared to how he spends THE ENTIRE GAME repeating the same “I’m gonna be the Champion/Hokage/Pirate King!” spiel every time he’s on screen.
Con - Dynamaxing and Max Raid Battles I’m not really on board with the whole “Mega-Evolution is best! No more gimmicks!” train because that’s just silly to me.  Every game has its gimmick and the way Pokemon gradually picks up tricks and traits from its past versions to consolidate into newer titles is one of its strengths.  That said, Dynamaxing is worthless and a pointless addition to the game, both in presentation and practice.
The visual of a Pokemon going kaiju is a neat concept and one I was initially intrigued by, but in practice it falls flat because it’s as thin as cardboard.  It’s just Mega-Evolution and Z-Moves smooshed together with an additional 3 round time limit tacked on.  All it functionally does is buff your Pokemon’s HP pool and add additional weather/status effects to certain attacks, but in some cases the Dynamax versions of attacks are actually weaker/less useful than their base form.  In Gym Battles all the way through the final League fight with Leon, I didn’t bother with Dynamaxing because my Pokemon were strong enough to not need it.  I could one-shot Dynamaxed Pokemon with ease using a non-Dynamaxed Pokemon and that really shows a flaw in the design if ever there was one.  Dynamaxing doesn’t add or improve anything vital to gameplay - it’s just fluff.
Max Raid Battles as found in the Wild Area are even worse.  For those of you who don’t know, these are instanced battles against a Dynamaxed/Gigantamaxed wild Pokemon where you team up with three other players/NPCs.  If you win, you get a bunch of useful items and have the chance to catch the wild Pokemon as well, which is the only way you can get certain Gigantamax-capable Pokemon reliably.
The issue with these Max Raid Battles is that they’re an absolute slog.  In the early stages of the game they’re all super easy to the point that I could solo them and thus gathered mountains of EXP-boosting candies, which let me overlevel my Pokemon beyond reason.  Since the whole “your Pokemon is too high level and won’t listen to you” thing apparently doesn’t apply to Starters and special Event Pokemon, I was able to max-level and run rampant across all opposition with my Starter and my special “thanks for buying early” Meowth.  HOWEVER.  The difficulty scale of the Max Raid Battles increases with your game progress, so by the time I finished the game and went back into the Wild Area, the Max Raid Battles’ difficulty had ramped up.  That’s an okay compromise on its face, but the manner in which the difficulty has increased is poor game design.  The battles aren’t any harder, they just take longer - the wild Pokemon has more HP,  tosses up a few rounds of shields to soak damage at the start and again halfway through the fight, and purges stat boosts from the player and party throughout the battle.  It just makes the fights a pain in the ass to get through rather than making them more challenging or fun, and it’s gotten to the point that I don’t even bother with them anymore.  They’re just not worth the trouble, not even for the sake of trying to farm EXP candies because, at this point in the game, all Pokemon in the Wild Area scale up to level 60+ and thus are perfectly serviceable as EXP farming fodder themselves.
On a lore side of things, Dynamaxing is really confusing.  There’s the whole visual aspect of the Pokemon growing to giant sizes and sometimes changing their appearances, and there’s these massive arenas built to facilitate the whole thing.  But the game itself goes out of its way to impress the fact that the Pokemon aren’t actually getting bigger.  They just appear to grow in size and haven’t actually physically changed themselves so Dynamaxing is more like a giant hard light holographic projection than anything else?  It’s just a really weird design choice to have made and I don’t understand why it was included.
Con - The Writing So, writing is very important to me.  It’s literally been my job for the past decade with various game studios.  I don’t consider myself any sort of literary snob as I feel there’s a place for schlock right alongside masterpieces - they all serve a specific purpose and fulfill a particular hunger the reader would like satisfied.
That said, SwSh’s writing is abysmal.
Right on the face, there’s not enough of it.  The game is criminally short and light on content, which directly impacts its pacing.  Remember earlier when I mentioned that things felt railroaded?  That’s because there’s not enough story to rest on - it all flies by as fast as can be, forcing the player along a very narrow and brief chain of events that don’t feel consequential at all.  Further, the player has no agency in events whatsoever.  It’s not the player’s story - it’s Hop’s story.  We’re the supporting role to his journey, shallow as that arc may be.  Hop is the one who initiates the events of the game without our input as a character and then we spend the entire game following him around, or being pushed into the next event by other characters who are facilitating Hop.  At no point is the player ever given the chance to express their own characterization, motivation, or even opinions.  Nearly every two-choice dialogue option that appears boils down to “Yes” or “Slightly More/Less Enthusiastic Yes”, which is a huge downgrade from the genuine negative responses and NPC reactions that were present in SuMo.
In terms of overall plot, SwSh has pretty much the same level of depth and complexity as the original Red/Blue titles, and that is as scathing a criticism in this modern age as I can possibly imagine.  The whole story is “run in a circle, collect badges, fight vaguely present villainous threat, fight league.”  We are actively forced from one gym fight to the next with no time to breathe, no story-focused events in between, and not even any chance to appreciate the gym, its leader, or even the towns they take place in.  It’s one and done - once you’ve got the badge there’s no reason to hang around and the story shuffles us along quickly as can be.  I mean that literally in some cases - there are hints of a greater plot at hand with Sonia investigating the history of Galar’s legends and the potential machinations of mega-corporate mogul Chairman Rose.  But each time those are broached in game play, the game pushes the player off-screen and says “Well, that’s not something you need to worry about.  Go get another badge!”  I mean, LITERALLY!  There’s a point where The Plot begins to kick in where Pokemon begin to spontaneously Dynamax and cause havoc, which is the narrative queue for the player to become involved and for the story to reveal a new facet.  But when that happens, Leon LITERALLY says “leave this to the adults, you just focus on your Gym Challenge” and runs off-screen to handle it himself.  It would be a good narrative subversion if it led up to things eventually getting out of hand and the player getting roped into things, or the player having the ability to defy such warnings and interject themselves into danger.  But that doesn’t happen - the game just forces us to focus on the Gym Challenge alone and keeps all the actual plot of the game off-screen away from us.  This is very poor narrative design and game design alike, and it all comes to nothing because we’re forced to clean up everything in the end anyway by battling the villain and legendaries as per usual.
Though I should also point out that there’s no villain in this game.
But what about Team Yell and Chairman Rose, I hear you ask?  They’re not villains, both literally and figuratively respectively.  Team Yell never really does anything other than act as brief gate locking elements throughout the game until you finish the Gym you’re at, then they bounce off to the next part of the route they’re set to block.  They don’t do anything bad and, as it’s later revealed, they’re actually just a bunch of Spikemuth Gym staffers who are posing as hooligans to support Marnie.  They’re literally not villains and, once you beat the Spikemuth Gym, they actually become supporting characters who cheer for the player character and help out against the actual supposed villain of the game.
The actual “villain” of the game is Chairman Rose and his assistant Oleana.  However, they’re only villains because the script says they are.  They don’t actually do anything bad throughout the entire game nor is there any indication that they have some sort of grand master plan.  The most we get is some unusual happenings like small quakes and explosions in the distance, but the game never allows us any chance to investigate - we’re just shoved off toward the next Gym each time.  So when Chairman Rose is finally revealed to be the Big Bad, it comes completely out of left field and seems to happen for no reason whatsoever.  Further, IT IS FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER.  Chairman Rose’s plan and goal is never explained in depth - all we get is the vague indication that he believes that Galar isn’t sustainable and there will be an inevitable energy crisis in about 1,000 years, and somehow his EVIL SCHEME will fix it.  But, like, even Leon flat-out says “I understand your concern but you’re being hasty, this doesn’t need to be rushed, chill out for five seconds and let’s figure this out reasonably”.  Instead Rose interrupts the Champion match and announces his EVIL SCHEME on global broadcast for literally no good reason.  There was no dire immediacy that required him to do it right then and there, or in that manner, but the plot needed to move us along so that’s how it goes.
It really doesn’t help that, prior to all this, there’s absolutely no indication at all that Rose nor Oleana are bad guys.  They’re just business folk who appear to have nothing but good intentions and support for Leon, with the other adults of the cast all happily trusting them.  There is nothing to make them seem suspicious in practice and they offer no reason to doubt them at all, so them suddenly being the bad guys is just confusing.  Further, how the player is first introduced to the concept of them being antagonists is easily the most ridiculous logic jump and overreaction I’ve seen since the old Adam West Batman television show.  So get this: after a battle, Leon says he’ll meet Player and Hop for dinner to celebrate.  Player and Hop wait for Leon, but he never shows up.  Another NPC explains that Leon was called in for a last-minute meeting by Chairman Rose (who is his boss and has made such requests of Leon’s time throughout the game, as I feel is important to point out) and apologizes for having to miss the dinner plans.  Simple enough sort of situation, right?  The sort of thing that any reasonable person would shrug and say “Well, that sucks but okay, let’s go eat on our own then” to, right?  So what happens here instead?
The Player, Hop, Marnie, and her Gym Leader brother GATHER A SMALL MOB AND STORM CHAIRMAN ROSE’S BUSINESS HQ, FIGHTING THEIR WAY THROUGH SECURITY.
I mean, escalation much?  We all have smartphones - just send Leon a text, for goodness’ sake.  I’m playing through these events constantly going “why the hell are we doing this and why is everyone acting like it’s some sort of dire emergency?”.  And do you know what happens when we finally kick down the doors to Chairman Rose’s office?  We find Chairman Rose and Leon quietly having a peaceful chat, after which Leon apologizes for having to cancel the dinner plans and we all walk out together like nothing happened.  It was just this huge, needless overreaction that has no consequence and that neither Rose nor Leon even bat an eye at.  We, as the players, learn absolutely nothing of importance and are back on the Gym Challenge immediately with no functional changes to the narrative.
Like... what was the point of that?!  How was that the best option to try and put Chairman Rose and his underlings into the role of antagonists for us to oppose?
So what is Chairman Rose’s EVIL SCHEME anyway?  Basically he wants to provide Galar with renewable clean energy which... uh... is bad?  Somehow?  Apparently he plans to use a Legendary Pokemon called Eternatus - apparently the source of Dynamaxing - which is literally never mentioned at any point in the game except precisely when it’s time to fight/capture it, nor does fighting/capturing it have any impact on the story or setting.  You would think that the player being in control of a massive Eldritch horror that has UNLIMITED POWER at its disposal would be something of a sticking point somewhere in the story, but no.  Eternatus and Rose’s plan are never mentioned until precisely the time you need to deal with them, and once that’s done they’re both never mentioned again.  Done and done all in one.  No gradual seeding of information, no hints and clues throughout the game, no development of lore - just wham, bam, thank you ma’am and off we go.
Y’know, call me silly but in a game that has undertones referencing climate change, extinction of animal species, and criticisms against capitalism run amok, is it really a good idea to depict the guy advocating for clean energy to be bad?  That feels like a missed mark to me.
The post-game plot, should one bother to call it that, is just inane.  It basically boils down to a pair of one-shot baddies who show up and say “Ha ha! We’re rich and that means we’re better than everyone! Watch as we cause trouble for vague reasons, get hoist by our own petard, and then fuck off forever! Byeeeee~!”  The post-game is completely pointless and doesn’t add anything of value at all.  Which, again, compare to older games like ORAS’ post-game expansion content and it’s nothing but a damn shame.
SwSh’s writing is shallow and limited at best, with one-dimensional characters, no genuine conflict or resolution, terrible pacing, and repetitive elements that boomerang around over and over and over again to the point of annoyance.  Compared to what we’ve seen Pokemon achieve in earlier titles like BW, ORAS, and SuMo, it makes it all the more obvious that SwSh was not given ANYWHERE near the time and love it needed in development and is a massive downgrade in that respect.
Con - Lots of Style, No Substance To wrap all this up - I enjoyed playing SwSh as much as I did any other early Pokemon game.  I think that, as a first installment on a new system, it’s fine.  That’s all - it’s just fine.  It’s serviceable as a means of establishing the franchise onto the Switch and completing its move off purely-mobile mediums like the Gameboy and 3DS.  It’s pretty to look at and has a superficial level of engagement, but its prettiness and level of content very quickly reveal themselves to be only skin deep.  Once you get past the initial gloss there’s really nothing to this game compared to the content, involvement, and writing quality displayed in past titles on lesser-powered systems.  The towns are all pretty but there’s nothing to do in any of them aside from a Gym battle - there’s no additional fun to be had in each location, making them little more than set pieces.  The characters have initial appeal and potential for more, but the game never explores them at all.  There’s room for a bigger narrative and interesting story with the elements presented, but no opportunity to actually see them fleshed out.  The Wild Area seems big and involved at first, but as soon as you’ve gone around its loop once or twice you suddenly realize how small and compartmentalized it really is, and it lacks any reason to revisit in the end game.  The major game play function - Dynamaxing/Gigantamaxing - is little more than a novelty that is basically irrelevant to gameplay itself and, in an absolutely baffling decision by the folk behind the official competitive scene, is actually somehow banned from being used in competitions?  Like, not even “we’ve disabled the Dynamax button in online” but rather “if the competitive Pokemon you’ve spent so much time perfectly constructing has a Gigantamax form, it will not even be allowed access at all, so you better have an identical non-Gigantamax version on hand if you want to play”.  So, what exactly is the point of even having Gigantamax Pokemon then?
Everything about SwSh seems half-baked.  The ideas are there but they aren’t finished.  It should have been given much more development time and, having been in the position of the creative/dev team under demands from the shareholders, I completely sympathize with Game Freak’s devs in all this.  SwSh is ultimately a weak product but one with a lot of good ideas that weren’t given the chance to really shine.  As such, I’ve got rather high hopes for the next installment to improve on the unfortunately thin foundation SwSh has set.  Game Freak’s team has given us some amazing Pokemon games in the past and, assuming they’re given sufficient time and resources to make a title to their satisfaction, I have every confidence they’ll do so again.

if its alright, I'd love to know why you picked them! tbh partner choices for pokemon AUs always have me curious and these look like good choices! (like for example, having mimikyu for Tim makes sense! and i'd love to know why you chose the rest of his team) (and tbh i would've asked sooner but i've been 'head full, thoughts of spiderman' for the past couple days lol)
no problem!! i’d absolutely Love to talk about it lmao, i hope you don’t mind this getting Long
So, for Tim I think that he found the Cubone first, on one of his last escapes into the woods before he was released from the hospital. I like it because of its mask, but mostly because it’s lonely and prone to tears. Tim doesn’t think very much of himself, but he IS a very natural and empathetic caretaker - he would be really good at taking care of a small and orphaned pokemon - especially one that reminds him a little bit of himself. I picked Duoduo because it has two heads that never sleep at the same time - one is always awake to defend itself and the other. The two brains also can communicate telepathically with one another!! Tim is absolutely not jealous of this ability, trust him.
Yamask isn’t technically tim’s pokemon. He found it in his apartment after a black out, and doesn’t remember picking it up, but it refuses to leave. Tim doesn’t care enough to force it to leave, but they’re both very aware of the fact that He is not technically the one who owns it, even if it still follows him around. “Each of them carries a mask that used to be its face when it was human. Sometimes they look at it and cry” - Tim knows that some part of him relates, even if he’s pretty sure he wishes he didn’t. When Tim throws away the Mask at the end of the series, Yamask digs it back out and refuses to let go of it - it carries two masks these days.
I already talked a bit about the mimikyu because it hides its face to try and fit in and appear less scary, but also because, in its busted form “It stands in front of a mirror, trying to fix its broken neck as if its life depended on it. It has a hard time getting it right, so it’s crying inside” and in its disguised form “it’s a quiet and lonely pokemon, but if you try to look at what’s under its rag, it will become agitated and resist violently” - Tim tries Very Hard to just fit in and get on with his life in broader society, but his chronic lack of friendships means that he’s not very good at it, and the way he has to continually search for whatever work will hire him means that he’s Extremely dependent on trying to appear Neurotypical and acceptable to customers and employers (but also isn’t very good at it), and we do see him protest very strongly when he’s literally unmasked by Alex, but also when he’s more figuratively unmasked by Jay’s publication of his medical records.
Jay’s team includes Klefki (admittedly, mostly because of “KEY”, but also because it’s a collector who is willing ‘to sneak into people’s homes’ to get what it wants, which is Jay through and through). He has an Oddish because it’s very nocturnal and spends the nights “roaming actively” however it pleases (just like Jay’s bizarre choices to do a bulk of his investigating in the middle of the night). Sentret is a nervous pokemon who can raise itself up on its tail to get a better view of its surroundings - Jay and Brian both spend a lot of time Watching, but Jay’s is a lot more nervous than Brian’s is (I talk more about that when I get into Brian’s team lol), so a sentry pokemon both resembles him AND would be good for him to have since it’ll cry out to warn others if it sees something concerning. Zigzazoon is a Super curious pokemon - literally described as “relentlessly wandering everywhere at all times. The pokemon does so because it is very curious. It becomes interested in anything that it happens to see” - I like to think that Jay and Zigzazoon were both aimlessly searching the woods one night and stumbled upon each other, and then got almost instantly invested and never split up.
I do kind of like the dramatic irony of Brian having one or more flying type pokemon on his team considering the circumstances of his death, but Pidgey specifically I chose because it’s a pretty conflict-avoidant pokemon - more known for kicking up sand to hide and escape in instead of going straight for a fight. Brian’s first instinct in almost every fight we see him in is to run first, but (like Pidgey) he can ‘ferociously strike back’ if the need arises. Arbok I chose because it’s described as having a “vengeful nature - it won’t give up the chase, no matter how far”, which is a Very Hoody sentiment.
(I did figure out a timeline for Brian’s Arbok - it was an Ekans that he just had because he likes snakes, and they were both pretty content with its bite being ‘harmless’, but was accompanying brian to the hospital filming, and after Alex left Brian for the Operator, Ekans evolved because it needed to be able to defend Brian in a way that hadn’t been necessary before. the two of them are both traumatized by what happened)
Haunter is similarly dedicated to stalking its victims - “it lurks inside walls to keep an eye on its foes”; also “If you get the feeling of being watched in darkness when nobody is around, Haunter is there” and also so is Brian. Natu is another flying type, although it can’t actually fly yet, instead it hops around, and “The look in its eyes given the impression that it’s carefully observing you. If you approach it, Natu will hop away”, very much like Brian startling and bolting like a deer in the majority of his appearances lmao. Pokemon that stalk and watch their prey would be important to Brian, who seems to take the role of an observer/herder for the majority of the series, but having them be Offensive would also be a priority - to protect others or himself, while still seeming distant and eerie (there’s no way that Brian doesn’t Actively choose to make himself seem scary)
For Alex, Umbreon is a pokemon that hunts at night and strikes fear into the hearts of anyone around it - it also hides silently in the darkness and waits for its foes to make a move. Alex isn’t really an active hunter? He goes after people for sure, but also seems very reliant on making them come to him (He calls Jay and Jay and Jessica come to him when he tries to shoot them in the woods, he’s in the woods when Hoody and Masky try to get Jessica out of the situation and he almost seems to just stumble upon them, he waits for Jay to wander into the basement, waits for Tim for weeks before lighting his house on fire, and then waits longer for Tim to go back to the college, etc). Houndoom’s pokedex entries talk a lot about the sound of it - which reminded me of Alex’s insistence on his monologues, and the way he’ll scream at people while trying to track them down (mostly Tim). It also says that ‘if you are burned from the flames it shoots from its mouth, the pain will never go away’, which makes me think of the way that Everyone got reinvolved in this stuff years after the fact because they just couldn’t seem to let it go - like a wound that never healed.
I chose Lycanroc because it’s described in two different ways: it’s Midday form is “a trustworthy partner who will absolutely never betray its trainer” and its Midnight form claims that it “will attack with no regard for its own safety” and “doesn’t seem to mind getting hurt at all - as long as it can finish off its opponent”. Alex gets stabbed multiple times before Tim finally gets him on the floor to attack him relentlessly, and is attacked by hoody/masky multiple times earlier in the series, but he never backs down or out. and Trust and loyalty are qualities that I thought were important for Alex’s team to have because 1) he’s paranoid and Extremely distrustful of everyone who used to be his friend, so having a team that would solidly have his back would be important to him, but 2) a team that is Willing to follow Alex’s instruction even against people and pokemon that they know and are familiar with would also be key to this sort of set up. They’re not happy about what they’re doing, but they’ll do it anyway because it’s what Alex wants, and he’s the one that they actually trust and listen to. Growlithe was chosen for its trustworthy and loyal nature as well, although I do think that Alex has had Growlithe the longest - it’s probably the most upset by the change in circumstances, so Alex probably uses it the least these days (not out of spite? He definitely doesn’t hurt or abuse his pokemon, he only uses them offensively as an absolute last resort and I don’t think he tries to actively hurt the other’s teams either - though he will defend himself thoroughly if the need arises)
Some honorable mentions are Absol - a pokemon that warns of impending danger but often gets mistaken as a harbinger of doom instead, which reminded me a lot of totheark (particularly with Entry ######), but I couldn’t decide if it’d fit better with Tim or Brian. Lucario is a good hunter that strikes without mercy and ‘finds out things it would rather not know, so it gets stressed out easily’ a lot like Alex. Munna might have been a good fit for Tim since it’s a ‘dream eater’, but the pokedex entries didn’t put a lot of emphasis on nightmares, so I wasn’t sure how much I liked it. Was also tempted to put pokemon like “Salazzle” or “Tsareena” on Alex’s team just as a cheeky little wink to the ‘alex is Definitely a weeb’ talk that went on during tim’s last livestream lmao. Tim also would have been good with a Phantump i think, since they’re literally the spirits of children who got lost in the woods, which tim would empathize heavily with, and because he’d be a good caretaker for it the same way he would be with Cubone. Comfey would have been good for any of them as like an aromatherapy pokemon - all of these guys need some mental health days to just Relax and be calm and safe for once.

You’ve been shipped to Paris by your father, who again barely visits you. All is well for 8 months until you get lost in the crowd on your day out in town and have a dangerous encounter.

—8 MONTHS LATER—
“Again.”
Kick.
“Again. Harder.”
Kick.
“Good, again.”
Kick.
“Good, okay, we’re done for the day.” My trainer finally said. I released the tension from my muscles as he told me we were done. I sighed in relief, immediately removing my protective gear from my sweat-drenched body.
“Are you heading home after this?” My trainer asked, passing me my water bottle.
“Yeah, I’ve shooting practice at the range.” I replied, gulping down the water fervently.
So, for the past 6 months, I’d been shipped to Paris. My father had a safehouse here in a remote area with good security and he had a few friends here that could take care of me. Or so he claimed. I’d been given mandatory self defense lessons and shooting lessons. My father was pretty shocked at my natural talent with guns, but my lack of coordination with my feet for self defense and fighting made up for that. I took a cold shower and keyed in my chauffeur’s number, only to see he was already waiting outside the building.
“Miss.” He greeted with a smile. I smile back, entering the car through the door he had opened.
The ride back was always the same scenery but I was always fascinated. It was about 5.30PM and the sun was just starting to set. The people bustling around were different. Businesses seemed different every day. Buskers changed. The golden sunlight melted onto the buildings like a layer of honey, and it seemed to change the shapes and silhouettes I saw as I drove past here every day. I hardly ever got out of the safehouse but when I did, I usually walked down the angular streets, just slowly taking in what I could.
“Miss, we’ve arrived.”
I dumped my keys and locked all 4 locks on the door. The maids in the morning had cleaned out the house but they always left immediately after. I was always alone here. It was nice at times, to be independent and do things by myself. But after 6 months of this, I was just... lonely. I had nobody to talk to or interact with other than my driver and the various trainers. Even those conversations were always the same.
I still had about an hour till the shooting instructor arrived so I whipped up a quick dinner. Groceries were replenished by the maids too because I hardly could left the house to buy anything myself. I made some kimchi soup with the rice that had been steamed this afternoon. I mostly ate Korean food. Western food was good - pasta and all - but I missed home. Korean food was all I had left of home.
It was the week later that the security team finally was assembled for me going out of the house. Me leaving the house was subject to my father’s approval, and somewhat like taking leave at a company, I had to file it in a record - dates, times and where I was going. My dad usually approved it a few days later and I assumed he did some checks first just to see if I was completely safe. I wondered what he checked for.
The security team always wore casual clothes, blending into to scenery around me. I took no notice of them, only once or twice had I see them twitch their hands to their guns because of some rough encounters. But I always managed to smooth things over myself, well, with my broken French but better English. That day, I wanted to visit the Eiffel Tower. I’d passed by it several times but I never properly visited it.
I walked around slowly below it, and deemed it was nothing much other than a great photo op. No offense to the French but I guess it’s only more iconic if you take photos of it from afar. From such a close vantage point, it was just a mix of metal bars. A few of my security team followed me up to the top where I just gazed over all of Paris. The triangular shaped buildings and winding streets all looked the same to me, and I couldn’t even pinpoint the street I was in. It was beautiful though.
I had opted to walk through a crowded street after visiting the Louvre. It was more boring than I thought so I left early and wanted to experience the bustle of the streets before sundown. The scenery before me fed my eyes - people, tourists, construction, beggars, scammers, musicians and buskers, chefs and bakers. I spotted a Chinese spiced fish hotpot restaurant and I could smell the peppers as I walked past it. I could smell bread and the sweetness of madeleines as I passed a bakery. The scent of roses and fresh flowers invaded my senses as I strolled past a florist. These little things were the things that made my day more so than seeing the Eiffel Tower or the Louvre.
My eyes rested on a small pot of violets in the shop window. They were bright yellow and purple, with flecks of white. It made me wonder what my own violets had grown to look like at Jimin’s place. They had just begun to sprout buds when I last saw them. Would they be springing forth full of life, or would they have been dead by now? Thrown away? I wondered wistfully, tearing my eyes away from the flowers so I wouldn’t get too emotional. As I rejoined the crowd, I couldn’t see my security team anymore as I was lost in the hustle of the after-work crowds. My shoulders hit others’ and I clutched my bag a little tighter so as to not get pickpocketed.
I tried to escape the crowds by sticking close to the building walls, but suddenly found myself getting separated from my security. My heart thrummed uneasily inside my chest, wondering if they would still be able to spot me in the crowd. As I rounded the block back to my apartment, I felt a harsh tug on my arm, pulling me into an alleyway. By instinct, I manouvered my way out of the mystery person’s grasp, immediately whipping my gun out from my jacket.
I came face to face with a raven-haired man whose face looked like it came straight from an animated movie, though it was mostly covered by his dark hoodie. His eyes were unrealistically large and almost doe-like. They contrasted his action of holding up a similar gun in between his long slender fingers. His thick brows furrowed in annoyance.
“You know self-defense.” He gritted his teeth, clicking his gun. I did the same.
“Who the hell are you, and what do you want?” I spat, stepping away from him. I just needed to stall time until my security detail managed to find me.
“Why the fuck do I need to answer that?” He countered. “You’re coming with me.”
“Like hell I am.” I growled, firing a warning shot to try and scare him off. My bullet hit a pile of cardboard boxes behind him, but he didn’t even flinch as the bullet barely passed his neck. His eyes did widen, as if he didn’t expect me to actually fire a shot.
“Get the fuck away from me.” I said, slowly stepping away from him. “The next bullet’s aimed at your head.” The man scoffed in my face.
“You’re really naive if you think I’m going to go down without a plan.” The man huffed and I saw movement all around me. The faint sounds of guns clicking were heard and I could feel shadows creep in closer. My heart beat uneasily as I tried to slowly reach for my phone in my back pocket. Fuck, why couldn’t my security team find me quicker?
Suddenly, I heard something. Silenced bullets. It was so quiet but I definitely heard it. I thought it was my security team and those slow ass guards finally noticed something was up. I’d speak to my dad about them. One by one, I could feel the pressure of guns lift, as if the mystery man’s team was getting taken out. I kept my eyes on him, and he was visibly annoyed. His men were being picked off one by one and he knew it.
“You were saying?” I scoffed, trying to back away now. What happened next was extremely fast and I still don’t know how but in a matter of seconds, he swiftly dashed into me, disarming me before I had the chance to pull the trigger. The gun clattered to the floor, but I twisted around, kicking him in the stomach. He let go of my wrist and I used the chance to grab my gun again but I was too slow. I felt his gun on my temple and I froze, slowly putting my hands up.
“Stop moving, and do as you’re told.” The man hissed, butting his gun into my head. I’m sorry but why the fuck did my security team not shoot this guy on the spot.
“Hoseok hyung.” My heart felt as if it got stabbed twenty times at the sound of the voice that haunted my dreams for the past 8 months. My breath hitched and I could feel my emotions swell up from hiding in my chest. It was him. Jimin.
“Fuck, I knew it.” The raven-haired man clicked his tongue in annoyance.
“Drop the gun, hyung.” Jimin said, and I wished I could turn around and look at his face but I was pretty busy with a gun to my head. The man called Hoseok grimaced, and I could see him deliberating for a while before he clicks his gun upwards and in front of him.
“I have you surrounded, hyung, there’s no running anymore.” Jimin said. Now, I craned my neck to look backwards and finally took in the view that I’d longed for. Jimin’s silver hair had gone back to black and his face looked healthier, not so tired. Maybe it was just the evening sun glow. The sight made me feel like a cold glass on water had poured life into the parched land of my heart. Yet, pain gripped my chest - from the longing and from remembering how fucking heartbroken I was when I was dumped back at my father’s house. I turned my attention back to Hoseok.
In a flash, he tried to make a run for it and in a matter of moments, a rain of bullets came from above the buildings. One bullet found his arm and one embedded itself into his calf. He was paralyzed to the ground and as if from out of nowhere, a group of men swooped in to hoist him out of the scene and into a car.
“Y/N.” Jimin called gently as I still sat on the ground in shock. I could hear his footsteps behind me come closer and closer. Not really thinking, my hand grabbed the gun on the floor as I stood up and took aim. I wasn’t met with resistance, but all I got was a small smile and an apologetic pair of eyes that stared right through me.
“Why are you here?” I hissed, trying to sound pissed but I’m pretty sure I sounded like I was about to cry.
“I’ve been tracking rebel movements.” He answered simply, putting his gun away and raising his hands slowly to show me he meant no harm. “Hoseok just now, was a key part of the group - the weakest link. Now that we have him, things will progress a lot smoother.” He was stepping closer to me now.
“That’s all?” I wavered. “You came all the way to Paris personally to capture a lackey?” He was now right in front of my gun. Jimin shot me a small smile as he took the barrel in his hands and lowered it gently. Once he made sure it was out of the way, I dropped it and he pulled me into a warm embrace. It was laughable how hard I clung to his lapel, letting out the tears I never cried for the past 8 months.
“No, I came to make sure you were safe, I’m sure by now you’d have known that I would do anything for you.” Jimin murmured, stroking my hair and kissing my temple.
“Including just leaving me for 8 months?” I shoved his chest, breaking the embrace. “Fuck you, Jimin. How is this any better than me being with you. Not even a warning, not even contacting me.”
“I’m sorry, princess, I just didn’t want you to get caught up any more than you were with my clan’s affairs. But now I know that they’re after you, I have all the more reason to keep you by my side.” He apologized as he took my hand and put it to his cheek, kissing the soft flesh of my palm. His cheeks were warm. His lips were soft. I missed them so much.
“I’m not leaving you ever again.” Jimin said firmly - a promise. With that, I relented. I flew back into his arms and he held me gently but firmly, kissing my lips for the first time in a long while. They felt so familiar in the midst of this foreign land, and they felt so natural in this ridiculous situation. All I could focus on were his lips, his smell and his touch on my hair, my back, my arms.
“Fuck, I missed you. Every day, Princess, every single day.” Jimin murmured through the kiss, holding me tight against his body.
“I missed you so much...” I mumbled softly as my tears inevitably escaped. I just couldn’t stop.
“I’m so sorry, baby. I’m so sorry.” Jimin apologized as he put his forehead softly on mine. “I’m going to protect you. Your security team is literally useless they’re all dead from the rebels. I’m going to have a word with your father about that.”
“They’re all dead?” I gasped a little in shock. No wonder they weren’t coming. I did think it was odd that they’d take so long just to find me again after I disappeared in an alley.
“They were picked off one by one in the crowd just then.” Jimin answered. “I’ve dealt with Hoseok’s team, so you don’t have to worry anymore. You’ll be coming with me now. Your home’s been compromised.” I shifted uneasily. All my things and whatnots. No sentimental value but still, it’d be a heck ton to replace.
“Don’t worry about your belongings. I’ll make sure you’re comfortable.” Jimin seemed to read my mind as he held my hand, leading me back to his black car, picking my gun up along the way. The journey to his place was long and it bordered the outskirts of Paris. It was a two-storeyed house that looked rather worn out from the outside, as if it was abandoned. The metal gate on the outside was heavily guarded.
“I have a few safe houses all over the world - Paris, China, Japan, UK and one in Canada. The US one was bombed so I have to set another one up.” Jimin remarked as we pulled up into the garage.
“I’ll tell the staff to prepare a bath and some new clothes. Make yourself at home, I’ll come get you when it’s time for dinner.” Jimin told me as two ladies appeared to take me to somewhere else in the house. He placed a brief, and somewhat hesitant, kiss on my lips and motioned for the staff to continue. My eyes lingered on his face for a while before following the staff. It was a warm bath and I soaked in the tub for a long time, just basking in the fact that Jimin was here with me now. I could see him again. A part of my heart clenched at the fact, unable to actually believe it and honestly scared that he might leave again.
I sprawled on the bed in my bathrobe, feeling at home for once in a very long time. My house was always cold and always empty. Now, there was some sort of life - Jimin’s. And it made me feel warm and safe. All I wanted to do was lay in his arms. I didn’t even realize I’d started crying until Jimin walked into the room, eyes wide. He rushed over immediately to check if I was hurt anywhere.
“You’re crying, Y/N. What’s wrong? Are you hurt?” Jimin asked, looking all over for any sign of injury.
“No, Jimin.” I shook my head, trying to wipe my tears. “They’re... happy tears. For the most part. I’m just so happy now that you’re here. I’ve missed you so much...” I knew I was starting to blubber incoherently and Jimin’s arms wrapped around me warmly. I inhaled, taking in his scent I’d longed for for so long.
“I’m sorry, Princess, I promise I’m not going anywhere this time.” Jimin murmured into my hair, stroking my head softly and gently.
“Please kiss me, Jimin.” I whispered, looking up at him and he complied without hesitation. His lips felt so good on mine, and like I’d been bewitched, I wrapped my arms around him to pull him closer. He sighs into the kiss, and he truly did sound like he missed me just as much as I did he.
“God, I’ve missed your lips.” He mumbled between kisses that had grown more fevered. “I missed your skin on mine. I missed how you smelled like berries and vanilla. I missed your touch. And I fucking missed how you’d moan my name like it’s the only thing you know how to say.” He growled his last sentence, yanking my hips to his, making me whimper with need. Our lips crash against each other’s once again and he unties the ribbon of my bathrobe, letting the soft fabric fall away from my body and he inhales sharply.
“How can you be even more beautiful than I remember?” His voice strained to speak as he plants soft passionate kisses down from my neck and to my chest. His lips ghosted over my bare torso, and I arch my back on reflex, letting out a soft moan. His tongue rubbed my perked nipples as his fingers slipped between my folds below.
“Fuck, you’re already this wet.” He cursed, gliding his fingers through my arousal. The touch was teasing and barely enough.
“Jimin, more... please.” My voice was shaking with pure need to feel more of him. “But please take off your damn clothes.” Jimin chuckled and removes his loose shirt with ease, letting me see his ever-defined chest and abs. He got a little bit tanner too and his V line at his hips was definitely more prominent than before. I wanted to trace it with my fingers.
“Better?” He smiled, planting a kiss in between my breasts.
“Pants too, everything.” I whined. I’d waited too long for him to only just take off one piece of clothing.
“My impatient princess.” He chuckled again, easing his pants off, leaving his member taut against his stomach. I almost licked my lips at the sight.
“What do you want to do, baby?” Jimin said, climbing on top of me, slowly sucking the skin on my collarbone.
“I want you in my mouth.” I moan as he lightly grazes his teeth over my neck. He smiled, dazzlingly so if I may add, as he sat down facing me, inviting me towards him.
“Well, what are you waiting for, princess?” He murmured. “Come get it.” I licked my lips, almost lunging at him in my eagerness to please him and make him keen with pleasure. I slowly kiss his abdomen, using my hands to spread his own arousal over his stiff member. Jimin bit his lip, clenching his fist into the sheets beside him.
“How do you want me suck you off, Jimin?” I ask, looking up at him as I lick his dick slowly in an upwards motion, my tongue flat against him and lingering just at the appendage where his head met his shaft. He twitched with need as he stared at me wildly.
“I want you to suck on my head and twist your hands around me, you do that so well, baby.”
I complied gladly, doing exactly as he asked and he rewarded me with a long string of unfiltered moans. His voice cracked as his abdomen tensed hard while I sucked him, making sure to keep pace with my fingers wrapped around him, twisting up and down at a relentless speed.
“I love that, baby. Fuck, I love what you do to me. I want your whole mouth around me - so fucking sinful.” He growls as he bucks his hips up slightly, showing how much he wanted it. I grip his lean thighs pushing my head down to engulf him fully and he groans, tilting his head back.
“Fuck... fuck, you look so fucking pretty like that, taking my dick so well.” He praised me and I hummed in acknowledgement. He slowly thrusts as I bob my head and squeeze his thighs as the same time.
“Face the other way baby, I want to taste you too. I know you’re just dripping even though you’re sucking me off.” Jimin purrs, putting his fingers on my cheek, stroking it lightly.
“You taste so good, Jimin. I missed this.” I moan as I turn around, ass to his face.
“And I missed this view. And lucky me, I’m about to taste what I’ve been missing for the past few months.” He chuckled, pressing his tongue to my core and I tense, my mouth also clenching around his member as I moan. His kitten licks served to tease me but he soon delved deeper, lapping up all of my arousal. I struggled a bit to keep up my pace with his member, overwhelmed by Jimin’s touches.
“You taste so fucking sweet, baby. I could eat you out forever.” Jimin hisses, now sliding a finger inside me. “Look at you taking my fingers just like that.” I moaned as he added another one - a bit of a stretch but I wanted him too much to mind. He moaned as I hummed at his actions, clearly enjoying the sensation. The kicker was me grazing my teeth against his sensitive skin, squeezing his balls lightly as I did. He instantly clenched his abs, bucking his hips to show how much he liked it.
“Come up and ride me, baby. I want to be inside you when I cum.” He groaned, stopping his ministrations on my now soaked folds. I was pretty sure I was dripping by now, if I wasn’t already earlier. I was about to face him but I smirked, sliding downwards, back to him, throwing my head back and giving him a smirk.
“Oh, you want to deny me seeing your face now?” Jimin chuckled darkly and sat up, chest to my back. “I’ll still be able to hear you scream for me, though.” With that, he slipped his throbbing member inside me, making me gasp at the movement. It had been so long since I’d been filled with such fervour.
“God, Jimin, you feel so good.” I moaned as I slowly adjusted to his size. Jimin’s lips found respite in the crook of my neck, one of his hands on my breast and the other snaking below to my clit. Impatient to feel him, I grinded my hips, making him let out a breathy moan. He soon met my pace, our skin hitting one another’s.
“Right there, Jimin, ah-“ I cried as he hit a particular deep bundle of nerves inside me. It was almost too much as his fingers rubbed my clit simultaneously. I felt my climax approaching, knowing it would hit me like a truck.
“You’re close, baby? You like me fucking you like that?” Jimin’s voice was husky, almost dripping with the amount of need he laced in his words. “I can feel you clenching so fucking hard on me. Fuck, I want to cum inside you.”
“Jimin ah- I’m gonna cum-“ I couldn’t even finish my sentence before my body was wrecked by such intense waves of pleasure it threatened to buckle me under the pressure. I threw my head back, leaning onto Jimin’s shoulder as his name fell off my lips in a broken mantra.
Jimin wordlessly continued thrusting into me, riding me through my high, chasing his own at a hip-breaking pace. I felt him twitch inside me and I knew he was close so I grinded against him, meeting his thrusts with my hips.
“Oh fuck, baby,” Jimin groaned, gripping my hips hard, sinking his teeth into the skin on my shoulder as he released into me. When he slowed down to a stop, his grip on my hips softened so I slowly climbed off to face him.
“I missed you so much, Y/N.” Jimin murmured, bringing me close to him. “I shouldn’t have left you.”
“Yeah, that was such a dick move.” I huffed, pouting as he kissed my nose tenderly, chuckling at my pout.
“Sorry, baby.” He smiled, kissing my forehead. “Now let’s get you cleaned up and ready for dinner.”
A few weeks had passed and my life had settled back into the routine Jimin and I used to share at his house. I’d see him occasionally and we’d share meals together. And the occasional bang, of course. By occasional, I mean often because Jimin was insistent he show me how much he’d missed me. And when he was done with that, he would show me how he made up for him leaving me. I wasn’t complaining though.
My dad had come about a week after the man called Hoseok was captured, just to interrogate Hoseok himself and to see if I was in good hands. It hurt a little to see him care more about that Hoseok guy than me, because we barely shared a few sentences before he had to fly back to Korea. He spent most of his time talking to Jimin in the study.
This time, there’d been a development with the rebels and Hoseok was finally cracking once my father had tracked down his girlfriend, threatening him with her. It was cruel but, I no longer questioned what my father or Jimin did.
Jimin and my father exited the basement after quite a long few hours, but something was wrong. Jimin and my father seemed to be seething.
“Great job Kwon, you literally killed our only fucking lead.” Jimin hissed, frustratedly running his hands through his black hair.
“How the fuck was I to know he had a weak heart?” My father yelled back, throwing his hands up in the air. “He threatened my daughter’s safety, I’m fucking pissed, aren’t you, loverboy?”
“At least I know my limits.” Jimin countered, stepping closer. “He was a means to an end.”
“Or you’re just fucking soft because he was your hyung.” My father sneered. Jimin was poised to strike and I rushed in the middle of them to stop them from fighting.
“Daughter, get out of the way.” My father grabbed my shoulder, trying to shove me away as he clocked his gun right at Jimin.
“Dad!” I exclaimed. “What the hell, put the gun down!”
“Get out of the way, I’d wanted to do this for the longest fucking time. Him and his whole fucking clan deserve it.” My father hissed, venom almost dripping from his voice.
“Put the gun down!” I cried. “What the hell happened?”
“Your father beat Hoseok until he suffered a heart attack and died before he could give us any more information.” Jimin said quietly.
“Dad...” I turned to him.
“So you’re siding with this fucker now?” My father yelled, veins threatening to burst at his temples. “Just because he dicks you down, you turn on your father?”
“Dad, I didn’t even say anything!” I protested, trying to reason with him. “Why are you so upset? Please just calm down and we’ll talk!”
Once I saw my dad lower the gun a little, I lunged forward and disarmed him, catching him off guard.
“Y/N-“ My dad said, grasping for his gun but I threw it into the kitchen, far away from him.
“Why the hell are you overreacting, Dad?” It was my turn to ask the questions. He was acting strange. “Why are you so angry when you were the one that made a mistake?” No response. He merely stood there, face frozen without emotion. It was so suspicious. My dad killed our only lead to the rebels, and now was threatening to kill Jimin too. I’m sure Jimin must have picked up on it by now.
“Princess-“ Jimin’s voice held a warning. I knew he was trying to stop me.
“No, Jimin, don’t.” I shushed him. My brain was whirling with possibilities. “I’ve had enough of him hiding things.”
Suddenly, I heard it. The loud explosion that came from outside. And it happened again. My ears were ringing painfully and and my head felt like it was going to explode. I could feel my legs turn to jelly as I crumbled to the floor, not understanding what was going on. I could faintly hear Jimin call out to me, but my vision was blurred as I felt blackness envelope my consciousness. The last thing I saw was my father hitting the back of Jimin’s head.

42-45 for the Character solidifying ask for the oc of your choice? c:
Ooh thank you! I will answer for Viri and Suvia. 42. What does your character want most? What do they need really badly, compulsively? What are they willing to do, to sacrifice, to obtain?  Suvia wants to be free. Literally - she will never be anyone's slave or servant again - and figuratively. She would fight to the death to keep that from happening again. She needs to be able to pursue her love of knowledge and Sith lore, and she's willing to put herself in danger to achieve those goals.  Viri also wants to be free, but a different kind of freedom, to never answer to anyone. What she needs is to protect others. This is a need, and not a want. Viri sometimes very acutely feels the stress of having to be a protector and fight for everyone, and sometimes she honestly wishes she could let someone else handle it for a while. But she also cannot sit by and watch when there's something she feels she can fix or people she thinks she can protect or whatever.  And they both need and want love. Not just romantic love, but companionship, family, friends that can be trusted - these things keep both of them alive. 43. Does your character have any secrets? If so, are they holding them back?I only have these for Viri. Viri's three deepest, darkest secrets are: 1. She feels she killed her parents. She didn't. She was in Corellia and was still in Upper Academy. They were on Taris, got the rakghoul plague while they were working for the Imperial Science Service and were killed by the remaining member of their team to prevent them from becoming rakghouls. There was absolutely nothing Viri could have said or done, and she wasn't even an apprentice yet. But because she feels that nobody should ever die on her watch, she honestly hates herself because they died and she couldn't stop it. Viri obsessively carries around a dose of rakghoul plague vaccine so nobody will ever die of it in front of her, and as a security/anxiety measure, and working on Taris during the class story was extremely hard for her.  Nobody really knows this secret except Viri's parents, because when she saw them as ghosts, the first thing she did was apologize. Everyone else just knows she's obsessive about making sure everyone's protected from rakghoul plague.  2. She was sexually assaulted multiple times as a teenager while she was training at the Sith Academy on Corellia. She never told Lana straight out, just alluding that she didn't have a pleasant time with her previous experiences. But Lana completely figured it out very quickly, because of how Viri reacted to certain things and because she talked about it in her nightmares. 3. She can't do Force lightning because she used it to kill a trainer when she was a preteen and it really traumatized her. Again, Lana knows this, but everyone else just assumes Viri sucks at doing lightning and shrugs it off. Viri actually would be capable of unleashing lethal amounts of Force lightning if she could, but she can't.  44. How badly do they want to obtain their life objectives? How do they pursue them?  For Suvia there's the example of the class story; she was willing to eat ghosts and ravage her own body and mind in order to keep Thanaton from killing her. Her knowledge of Sith alchemy and rituals are far more extensive now, but she does sometimes walk a fine line and isn't always entirely sure if what she's dealing with is safe. It needs to be said that while she will handle artifacts and deal with these things herself, she's not comfortable involving others. She would never use anyone else as her lab rat, and she's been known to order Talos out of the room when she's concerned that he might get hurt.  For Viri, she's willing to throw herself right into the thick of things, and has often gotten hurt so that others could escape. If she has a goal she will throw herself into achieving it, but she will also remember her own sense of morality and values.  Both of them would fight with everything they had to defend or protect a loved one. 45. Is your character pragmatic? Think first? Responsible? All action? A visionary? Passionate? Quixotic?  Suvia is very cool, pragmatic, analytical and calculating. She always tries to look four steps ahead and make all her decisions as though it were a chess game, considering all the angles and how to best play them against each other. If you know her well, she's also exceptionally loyal and perceptive, but it takes a while to get to know Suvia and earn her respect and friendship.  Viri is very imposing, pragmatic, intimidating, and passionate, and is more of a visionary. She's got a mousetrap mind and pays a lot of attention to detail - she is the one that would notice all the Easter eggs and continuity lapses in a game or a film immediately, for instance. Viri's emotions manifest very strongly, and if you know her, she has a very dark sense of humor and can be a complete goofball.

The Right Way | Part Thirteen
[ previous | the beginning | next ]
In the timeline where Crow turned right, he knew he’d eventually have to face up to his past.
Even though he’d lost all contact with his former comrades, he’d managed to pick up on the murmurings, here and there. Nothing on Nines and Lyrisal themselves, of course… but there were whispers of a breakout at one of the less secure Republic facilities. A place where Crow was reasonably certain some of the lower ranking Deserters had been held; recent recruits, civilians who had not abandoned their army but rather been disillusioned by their former lifestyles, ordinary people seeking a different status quo.
“Come on, are none of you out on this fething frequency anymore? It’s me. Crow. Don’t tell me there’s nobody listening…” But if there was someone listening, they weren’t responding. He’d started trying to contact them again a few weeks back, but to no avail. And with every unanswered signal, he grew increasingly certain that his comm was purposefully blocked, and he knew why.
Coward. For years he’d tried to push it out of his mind, the way he’d fled, the terror he’d known.  No matter that he’d tried to turn things around; no matter that he’d turned his ship back to the fight, it had all come to naught, as they were eventually rounded up and marched into their cells… without him. Because he’d abandoned them. Because he’d been afraid of exactly that. And if the Free People’s Army was mobilising once more, if they were finally breaking themselves free… oh, Nines would never suffer his cowardice to go unpunished.  One way or another, she’d get to him.
He turned his weary blue eyes to the co-pilot’s seat, where Nela was curled up asleep.
Nel.
The only thing that had kept him going all these years. His only reason for being. High paying jobs in his line of work were either extremely dangerous, or deeply unpalatable. She was the reason he’d opted more for the latter, in recent times. Better to do unsavoury work and be able to see to her dinner the following day.
But now… well. It was all going to catch up with him. And he knew he’d have to make sure her future was accounted for before it did.
***
“Well! I think it’s time we pitted our newbloods against one another, get a look at their hand-to-hand skills.” The toned zabrak warrior, chieftain of his clan, turned his eyes to the two newest recruits of Aliit Motir’ang.
Ahuska gulped. Life had certainly taken an unpredictable turn in the last few weeks. She’d never had much hope for being invited into another clan; and especially not now, after the Eternal Empire had rained its blows across the galaxy and soldiers, warriors, tried and proven fighters were all that any rebuilding clan was after.
She’d met Alor Scottrys and his rallymaster, Sydica, doing a simple fodder delivery, overseeing the transport of a crate of live nuna from Dxun to Tattooine. She’d had no idea at the time that their clan were dedicated beast handlers; trappers and trainers both, and in sore need of more hands at that. They didn’t have to watch her handling her sleek silver varactyl long before they extended the offer to join them, and just like that, she found herself telling her old mentor Mirshko’vlk the news, packing her things and getting ready for a whole new life.
Though he was sad to see her go, his pride was undeniable, and the thought of trying to keep her back unthinkable. “Bout time you got yourself off the ranch and out into the galaxy” he’d said, shuffling into her room with a squirming ball of fur and teeth bundled in one arm.
The look that the young Bothan shot him; wide blue eyes, soft and sincere and struck with sudden concern, just made him laugh. “Oh, don’t even think about it, Hus’ika. Don’t you dare think of sticking around on my account. I’ve got Reyr to help around the place, and I’m sure there’s an ad’ika or two down in the Vale that would be happy to earn a few extra credits if she’s not enough. I’ll miss you, sure. The beasts will miss you doubly. But you deserve the chance to make something more of yourself.” The little thing he was carrying revealed itself to be a ten week old Nexu cub with a yowl and a wild flailing of her gaping jaws, at which point Mirshk’ deftly grabbed her by the quills and offered her out to Ahuska. “Here. I know you always wanted one. Something to remember the place by, hm?”
“Oh. Oh shab. Shab! She’s beautiful!” Ahuska scooped her up in an instant, and already those eyes of hers were brimming over. “Vor’e, Mirshk! Vor’e!”
She’d been so busy in the following weeks, she hadn’t even taken the time to settle on a name for the little cub, that now squeezed its way up from her lap and onto the top of the bar at which she sat with her new clanmates. Just a few days prior she’d helped them reclaim their old stronghold, having learned that they’d been forced to abandon it during the galactic conflicts and it had since been settled by a tribe of Sand People. That had been somewhat confronting; as brief and mild as the firefight had been, it was the first time in her life that she’d turned a blaster on another sapient being. But she had handled rifles before, was a reasonable hunter and had been forced to defend herself against dangerous animals before.
This, however? A fist-fight? With a complete stranger? This was something new. And in its own way, completely terrifying.
The man who sat a little way down the bar had to be at least a decade older than her. He’d been lounging there, wise-cracking, making cheeky remarks toward Sydica like he’d known her for years as opposed to having been pulled out of the Hutta swamps and invited back to the clan base only a couple of days ago. Ahuska had been too deathly shy to say anything to him just yet, but now she stared at him, at his bright blue eyes, the brightest she’d ever seen… his shaggy mop of slate grey hair, the rough stubble that accented his jawline and the striking tattoo that coiled its way up the right side of his face…
And then he was turning his broad, toothy grin toward her, and she found herself suddenly shaking her head. “Fight? No… I don’t… I mean I don’t really know how, I’m not sure I’d be any good to… to go up against…”
“Come on,” he said, getting up to his feet and motioning to the door with an incline of his head. For all that he’d been cracking wise and smarmy a moment ago, he now looked so utterly warm and encouraging, Ahuska started to feel herself unravel. “You’ll be fine.”
With her new Alor and rallymaster urging her on, Ahuska followed her roguish new clanmate down to the compound’s arena.
He knew what he was doing; she did not. The fight was short, finished when he delivered a blow to the end of her snout that took her so by surprise she wound up flat on her rear, doing all she could to stop hot tears of pain springing into her eyes. She was hurt, she was embarrassed at her own miserable ability, but she was overjoyed in an utterly inexplicable way.
“I’m going to have to go check in on Nela,” he said, after helping her up and clapping an arm about her shoulders. “But if you want a few pointers some time, I’m pretty sure my tent is right down from yours. Ahuska, was it?”
She nodded, flustered, with her hands pressed to her nose to try and stem the blood flow.
“I’m Crow, not sure you caught that earlier. You did great.” He gave her arm a gentle nudge before heading on his way, and Ahuska felt her heart swell like it never had before.
---
In the timeline where Crow turned left, Ahuska’a knew she’d crossed a line.
One very late night, when she’d successfully completed a hunt that only required the return of the hapless target’s head to receive full payment, she’d set up her camp out in the plains of Dantooine where she’d finally tracked the being down. A pirate of some sort, deserted his crew or double-crossed them or something, she didn’t particularly care about the finer details. Or even the greater details.
He was now just chunks of meat that she was carving up to feed her Anooba, old Rayshe’a, Resol and gangly young E’tad. It was blessedly late, and she was tired, and not looking forward to heading back out to find some game for herself. And so, while stoking her small fire, she came to the conclusion that she wouldn’t. What difference did it make, really? He was already dead. He was about to be devoured anyway. She could go out there and shoot down some animal; some lovely creature that had never crossed her, never done the galaxy a bad turn… or just share the meat with her dogs, a filthy criminal who the galaxy wouldn’t miss.
She knew she crossed a line that night, and felt just enough shame about it that she knew she’d have to keep it from her Clan, distant as she was from them these days. But not enough shame to stop herself.
***
It was a few months later that he tracked her down.
“Ahuska’a Ga’ihlr.”
She looked up from her patch of shade at the man who approached her in the bustling marketplace. A fairly unimpressive looking fellow, old but lean and spry in that way Sith often were, for Sith he surely was, judging by his eyes. “Mmm?”
“The Bothan Butcher?”
“Heh, that what they calling me these days? Easy, E’tad.” She placed a steadying hand at the nape of the young Anooba’s bristling neck. “Who d’you want me to shank, then?”
“Oh, no, no. If it were as simple as that, I’d be quite capable of handling it on my own. I’ve come with more of a… ahhh, business proposition, if you will.”
“Don’t need no partner. ‘n why would you need me if you’re not after a kill?” She spoke with the blunt confidence of one who trusted her reputation to keep her reasonably safe, in the right neighbourhoods.
He was equally to the point. “I need a Bothan. Preferably one with as few scruples as yourself.”
“Hrm?” The look she shot him was equal parts suspicious and curious. “Dunno if you’ve noticed, but I hardly fit the regular mould. Y’ haven’t thought to try Bothawui or Kothlis first?”
“Mmmm, no. I’d rather someone I could trust a little more to actually be on side with me. And, frankly, if you know anything about your own species you’d know why a Bothawui citizen would be less than ideal.”
“Hmf. You’re not really selling yourself, though. Gimme one good reason to hear you out.”
“I’ve watched your career, the last little while. You seem hell bent on punishing the galaxy. Would I be right in assuming it’s because the galaxy took something precious from you, some time ago?”
Ahuska’a stood abruptly, launching into the silver-haired man with a fierce kick to the guts that sent him reeling back a step. “Go feth yourself,” she snarled, pressing forward while her Anooba growled and bristled at her heels. “Before I set my dogs on you.”
He backpedaled swiftly, throwing up his hands in a gesture that was part surrender, part threat, as the dancing flickers of electricity crackled about his fingertips and made it plain he was prepared to defend himself. “What if I told you there was a way to undo that?”
Ahuska’a froze. A bewildering emotion seized hold of her, and it took a few long, furious moments for her to recognise it. Hope. How dare he give her hope. “You’ve got five minutes to convince me before I let my dogs eat you just for suggesting that.”
And so it was that Ulfran brought Ahuska’a on board on his hunt for the Tempus Shard.
=====
Aaaaaaa okay this segment is a little dear to my heart, because not only do we see the moment where Ahuska and Crow meet for the first time... but also the RP where I met @humanrevolt for the first time, too. And what a damned brilliant ride it’s been from that point!! I hope my memory serves it well.

The Perfect Dog I Ever Have
There's a lot of talk about how to raise the perfect puppy or dog. Do they exist? Its all what we want to know. I suppose the answer is a bit like… is there a perfect person? Of course, the answer to that is… Nope!
However there are some pretty great folks out there, and there are some really amazing puppies and dogs too. So what’s the catch? This is my best advice.
Before you decide about going to puppy and dog school and learning how to do high-fives, roly-polies and the commando crawl, ask yourself this… Is this what my dream puppy does? Is my dream puppy basically a performing ape whom I wheel out when visitors come around so they can say “Wow that’s amazing, how awesome is he…How did you train him to do that…” and so on and so forth.
The truth is that in many of these cases the next thing that the puppy and dog owner has to do is warn the visitors  this “Now…don’t go near his food bowl when he’s eating, and careful when you pat him not to go near his head, and keep the children away from his toys..!”
It’s mind boggling isn’t it? We spend so much time and effort focusing on how to do commands such as sit and stay but never even think about some of the most really important thing. And when we do it's often too late. Want to know why this is so? Because most professional dog trainers are stuck doing what everyone else is doing… And that’s training the sit, the down and the stay!
Yup, That’s right. Its like sheep, everyone following each other and nobody asking WHY? Think about it… has a puppy or as dog ever been put to sleep (yes you are right, I am talking about euthanized) for reason that they didn't do a proper sit? Or because their down command was a bit slow? Or because they had a poor stay? Of course not… nobody really cares about that stuff. Yet that’s what we all learn at canine school! WHY?!
But… Aggression? Oh Boy,Oh My. More puppies and dogs are put to sleep for aggression, barking, growling, and challenging than any other reason. Aggressive to children, owners, strangers – its all unpleasant news. There is nothing more extremely dangerous than an out of control dog, pulling you along on the leash, ignoring you when you let them off.
Never mind the danger to themselves around cars and other dogs. Yet so few professional dog trainers show you how to prevent all of this, for the reason that very few actually understand it themselves!
Most dog owners real idea of a perfect dog, in no particular order, will include all of the following 5 important behaviors:
 1. Calm around all other animals including dogs
 2. Friendly to all people including children
3. Relaxed and obedient around the home
4. Amazing at coming when called at the park
5. A real angel when walking on the leash in public
Stop… I can hear you thinking….You’ve got a point! Let me guess your next question… So how do we achieve it? Well the great news is that it's not difficult and  complicated. At least it's not complicated or tricky anymore…

We fell in love in a hopeless place part 6
Divergent fanfiction: Eric/OC
I do not own any part of Divergent
@pathybo @tigpooh67 @lunaschild2016 @beautifulramblingbrains @clublulu333 @kiiiimberlyriiiicker1995 @iammarylastar @kenzieam @jaihardy @sparklemichele @scorpio2009 @mom2reesie @ariwolff14 @ericdauntless @captstefanbrandt @frecklefaceb
I threw Max's door open and unceremoniously deposited myself in the chair in front of his desk.
"Good morning Eric," he sighed sipping his coffee.
"Is it? Because I have an investigation I have to open because I am almost certain someone is out to get Sam. Also care to finally tell me what the fuck yesterday was about?"
Max sat back in his chair with a look of a man who had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Being the head leader of the warrior faction was taking it's toll on him. But he was still one of the most capable soldiers and outstanding commanding officers I have known. He was fair and honest man and I respect him.
"So word travels fast around here. Most people where shocked you pulled somebody out of the Chasm instead of throwing them into it for starters." I couldn't help but laugh at that.
"What really sent everyones tails in a spin was when it was discovered it was Samantha Miller, the Candor trust fund baby. You also put said trust fund lawyer in Dauntless holding for five days," I suddenly had a very clear picture of where people thought this was going.
"People think my simple act of humanity is driven by greed. I want Sam's money. Max that is total bull shit and you know it." I swear I am eternally damned if I do and damned if I don't.
" l know Eric. Believe me if I thought for even a second that was the case I would string you up by your ass. She is a really great young woman who had a shitty hand dealt to her in her life so far. It's refreshing to see someone standing in her corner for once."
"Max I am going to tell you the same thing I told Sam. I'm not her happy ending, I'm just not that guy. But I will be the person who will stand up to protect her where so many others have failed." A slow smile broke out on Max's face.
"Eric nobody would ask anymore of you than that, most people would expect less coming from you of all people son."
He had a point. Most people always expected the worst out of me. They should, I'm an
asshole. But even assholes have their limits.
"Eric I think you have just been needing the right cause and the right person to find a compassionate side of yourself."
This statement made me cringe and laugh at the same time
"You give me to much credit. I don't believe compassion is in my wheel house."
"Are you sure about that? From what I have seen you have displayed an amazing amount of compassion for a woman who has never had an ounce of it in her life." He had an eyebrow quirked in that way he did when he didn't think you saw the situation the same way he did.
"Alyson has been very grateful for all you have and are doing for Samantha. After Sara died Quentin really fucked those girls up. After Gina died and Samantha was all alone with Quentin and Jordan, it all but destroyed her."
"You know Max, the irony of this whole situation is that usually it's the masses asking what the hell is wrong with Eric and he way of thinking. But for once, I'm asking the masses, what the fuck is wrong with you. How did an entire faction drop the ball so fucking bad." That was really what got me the most.
Max shrugged with a dejected look in his eyes. "I guess the same way Abenegation did. Not wanting to believe someone they trusted with authority and power would ever commit such a gross misuse of it." He shook his head in disgust as he spoke.
"After this is all said and done I want to take a proposal to the council to open a new program that would be available faction wide to all five faction." Max threw a curious look my way
"What would that be. I'm intrigued you would want to do anything that benefits all five factions."
"A child safety protection and task for and support group." With that I stood and returned to my own office.
"Four, did you get all the footage I requested pulled? Also you made sure to do it discreetly correct?" He rolled his eyes at me but nodded and waved for me to follow.
I may not particularly like Four, I trust him though. Especially with a sensitive case matter of this nature. His father is the reason I lost all faith in Abenegation after all.
"There is definitely foul play involved in this situation. On a hunch I pulled security footage from the cell blocks from an hour before and an hour after the estimated time Sam was drugged." The man was smarter than anyone gave him credit for.
"Let me guess, suspicious activity there too," I sneered.
"You got it. We' ll start with the footage from the med wing. See this person here, the one that enter's with the syringe. Two things wrong with this footage. First she just appeared around the corner syringe in hand, she never entered or exited the locked med room. By looking at this can you tell me the second."
I study the frame and the nurse very carefully. It took me three times of scanning the frame to figure it out. When I did I was fucking furious.
"Her scrubs aren't Dauntless issued. If you just glance at her you can't tell because they are extremely similar. But where the red stripe and Dauntless flame embroidery should be it's a small white square," how did security miss this. How did she get in?
"Exactly. Those are actually Candor issued. More specifically to people who are employed in faction government house keeping and food services."
"You are one smart son of bitch Four. You sure you don't have any Erudite in you?" He just gave me a smug smile and continued on to the next set of footage
"So this is the feed about twenty minutes after our mystery woman exits Sam's room. Same woman now only in what would appear to be Dauntless kitchen staff attire. But clear up the image and take a closer look and-"
"It's just a black shirt, black pants that are not any kind you could purchase in Dauntless. With black loafers, not Dauntless cross trainers or regulation boots."
"That would be correct. She hands the lawyer a piece of paper and what looks like a flash drive, but I'm not really sure exactly what it is."
"Did you already send her profile threw the facial recognition scanner," he got a disappointing look on his face.
"I did. Whoever this was has insider knowledge all the way around. Like serious knowledge for Erudite technology and the layout of Dauntless security. Not to mention Candor uniforms." Four looked impressed and perplexed all at the same time
"Explain," I crossed my arms leaning back becoming seriously annoyed. Who the fuck would have inside information to be a traitor to one let alone three factions.
"She never looks fully at the cameras. In order for facial recognition to work, the image must capture at least sixty-five percent of a person's profile. She new that. That's Erudite knowledge."
"She also knew where all the cameras where placed and the angle they where set. She absolutely had to or she wouldn't have been able to avoid getting enough of her profile to not meet facial recognition for every fucking camera feed she appeared in," Four was getting pissed the more he spoke.
It wasn't all just about Sam any more. This was also now about the fact that a traitor, quite possibly an outsider was able to infiltrate more than just one of Dauntless safety protocols. This also meant whoever was going after Sam was extremely capable and dangerous.
This knowledge was causing the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. I was going to have to double the amount of security details and protocols I already had in place for her
"Four call Casey and have two guards pulled for infirmary detail. One for the whole floor and one specially for outside of Sam's room. Also see if you can't conjure up one of those print scanners for I.D. entry to give to the guard on post. Last but not least send me a few copies of stills with our mystery woman's picture on it. Thank you Four. You went above and beyond and it was all excellent work." I knew I could count on him.
Four gave me a baffled look and looked like he wanted to say something. He looked down at his feet for a moment before looking up and locking in eye contact with me. He looked, determined maybe?
"Eric, I know we aren't friends or anything, hell we barely even tolerate each other. But what has been done to Sam. I take that personal," I nod in understanding and motion for him to go on.
"Anything you need from me, anything at all that pretains to Sam for professional OR personal reasons, just let me know. I'm here to help. If anyone knows what it's like to feel alone or abandon growing up in the situation she did. I do." His eyes took on a fiery look I have only seen a handful of times.
Marcus use to beat the sit out of Four until he was eighteen and finally left. I may not always like Four, but do have a healthy respect for him.
It also made my throat feel like it was closing up and a wave of emotion I couldn't place that he would offer to stand up and be Sam's voice when she needed as well. Maybe Max was right, maybe compassion was in my wheel house.
Not trusting my voice at the moment, I hoped my eyes and my body language relayed my thanks as I nodded my head and exited the control room. I had a lawyer to go torture

Misty for the character thing!
What I like about them: Oooooh, basically everything. I love her temper, I love her tough love when it’s necessary, I love her passion for water/water-type Pokemon/pretty things/certain social justice situations, I love that she’s written to be pretty smart in times when others aren’t (she’s the one who gets the groups of TR and Ash/Brock to work together to get off the sinking St. Anne, she’s the one who sees through James’ sob story in Holy Matrimony, she’s the one who solves all of Blaine’s riddles), I love that she feels a little complicated, and that she takes time to soften around people, I love her subconsciously wanting to protect/encourage youngest siblings in any family dynamic (Mikey/Sakura/Max). There’s so much to love about Misty, I feel like.
What I dislike about them: I don’t really have anything tbh? I understand she’s got her flaws but... that makes her human? And who doesn’t like an extremely human character? I will say that I guess I’m upset that the early use of slapstick comedy caused any number of fans to believe that she’s abusive... but that’s more of an inappropriate and incorrect interpretation of her character by the fans, not a problem with her character.
Favourite moment: This is really hard to choose. I really like her taking the lead during Tentacool and Tentacruel because we see her put herself in a position of explicit danger (not to mention empathy) with a giant mutated Pokemon. This ten year old girl saves an entire city from mass destruction and changes the mind of a massive water/poison-type while her friends just sit back and wait for her. Honestly, any moment she gets to shine (since they’re relatively few compared to other supporting characters of the series) are great, even if I think it would have been nice if she existed later in the canon, during a time when the writing would have spent more time on her.
Least favourite moment: Any time we see her use Psyduck. I know, that sucks, nobody agrees with me. I really disliked the way the writing dealt with their relationship and with Psyduck’s personality/will-power/psychic power. I understand relying on him when the chips are down and there’s no other choice because, you know, what a wild card! But, beyond that, reducing what felt like her every victory to dues-ex-Psyduck overkill got annoying and undermined her potential skills.
A situation with this character that I want to see explored more: I would have loved to have seen more exploration of her relationship with her sisters/about her family. I know it’s touched on here and there and it’s bred a lot of headcanons (or else, what seems to be obvious personality quirks imo) but a part of me would like to have seen it on-screen.
An interesting AU for this character: Legend of Korra AU? XD I dunno, something where she has physical control of water. My first thought went to, oooh, AVATAR.
A crossover: When I was a kid I drew some art and wrote some isolated scenes about a Pokemon x Sailor Moon crossover. Misty watches a meteor shower and is accidentally infused with the spiritual light of a neglected/missing senshi warrior called Nova (which had formerly infused itself with one of the falling stars). Ash and co end up in Tokyo and Misty starts blacking out here and there as this warrior takes over in an effort to help the senshi team keep their enemies at bay. Eventually, the truth is discovered and, being stuck with the spirit inside her for the time being, Misty ends up training with the senshi to learn how to control it. This puts a lot of strain on her relationship with Ash, who is impatient to go and continue his own journey, is upset at having to share the limelight in some way, and also fears that he’s losing Misty to whatever this twist of fate is. I’d even loosly planned a sequel during which Misty, who ends up having been separated from the Nova spirit once everything’s cleared up in the first story, begs the spirit to take her over again after Ash and Brock are kidnapped by another one of the senshi inner team’s enemies.
OTP (or OT3+ etc…. just… favourite ship): ... Do I really have to say it?? DO I?? (It’s Pokeshipping. Of course, it’s Pokeshipping! Why would it be anything else?! Who in their right mind truly expected a different answer from me here?!?!?)
Other ships?: Imageshipping, Champselyseeshipping, WaterWarriorshipping. I think that’s it.
BROTP: I guess Gymshipping?? Also Orangeshipping and whatever Misty x Daisy and Misty x Delia are.
NOTP: Romantically, any of the brotps and any other ships not mentioned in either of the previous two answers.
An assortment of headcanons!: (I’ve said it a hundred times but I’m really bad at headcanons...)
#1: Frustrated with her sisters undermining her and despite the fact that she was definitely able to grow stronger as a gym trainer, the first thing Misty does when she hears that they’re coming home from their trip around the world is plan to give ‘em a good talking to for dropping their responsibilities on her.
#2: Misty is the type of person who can taste the things she hates no matter how subtly masked they are. Every once in awhile Daisy/Brock (depending on where she’s at) cooks something with carrots or bell peppers and she can pick the taste out among everything else no matter what.
#3: The so-called “Invincible Pokemon Brothers” from Viridian City have tried to get their revenge on Misty a minimum of twenty-five times. Obviously they have never succeeded.
(Like I said, I’m really bad at headcanons so imma stop there. Lol.)
Thanks for sending!!
