If the ask game is still open how about an Anyone au where when AFO asked about Izuku's family Izuku went on an hour long rant complete with a PowerPoint that illustrated all his special feelings about his dad
1 - In this AU, AFO actually had the courage to ask Izuku about his family and how he felt about his parents. Even if he lived for 200 additional years, he would still regret that decision. He certainly didn't expect for Izuku to spring The Power Point Of All Power Points detailing his hatred for his deadbeat dad, Midoriya Hisashi.
2 - Three hours into the Powerpoint, Izuku notices that AFO is crying. He asks him why and AFO says that it's because growing his eyes back left them sensitive and in need to be hydrated and how he will probably need to retire for the night soon to let let them rest. Izuku opens a drawer, threw eye drops at him, and continues his presentation. AFO should have known better than to open that Pandora Box and isn't allowed to leave until Izuku has ranted away all of his Daddy Issues.
3 - AFO, not wanting to meet his parents' fate, try to introduce Izuku to the idea that his father might have a good reason for leaving, that he might be dead or incapacitated. Izuku. Does. Not. Care. Izuku makes it clear that if Hisashi ever shows himself in front of him, he will throw him from a building as many times as it takes to kill him. AFO believes him.
4 - Time for Plan B: time to convince Izuku that his deadbeat dad is someone AFO wants dead. Since he is an ambitious man, he naturally picks Yagi, thinking that now that Izuku has stolen his quirk, it's time to take his life. He creates "proof" that Toshinori can change appearance and that his secret identity used to be Midoriya Hisashi. It's so convincing that Izuku breaks into the Might Tower with an album picture, several DNA tests and generally emitting a "????" sound.
5 - Now, All Might is an intelligent man who knows when someone is trying to pull an emotionally charged narrative climax where one murders his father. But since he is also dumb, he doesn't say "Mmm, your dad is AFO and is manipulating you. Also, could you give me back my quirk please." Instead, he says "I am so sorry, I had to leave to protect you and your mom, what do you mean you didn't get the child support and the unlimited AM merch I have been sending you every month?"
+ 1 - Now, Izuku isn't dumb either, knows that there is something fishy and if All Might is somehow truly his dad, he can't accept the "I abandoned you to protect you" excuse. But... Unlimited All Might merch. So he is willing to hear him out. As long as he keeps the merch coming.
+ 2 - All Might accidentally sics Izuku on the one who "stole the alimony and the All Might merch"... The HPSC President.
#Izuku: Since my deadbeat dad is actually All Might I am willing to hear him out.#AFO: ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME???#anyone fic#anyone au#5 headcanons game#closed ask game

I will agree with your last point first. HORIKOSHI. PLEASE REST. regardless of what we want from the story, or even if we want the story at all, your health is important to any self-respecting and respectable fan in the fandom. I hope he gets some recovery time off, I'd rather him take a hiatus for a good while than keep hurting himself.
Ok, so I'm gonna bring up another crazy theory that I had a while ago, and that is the idea that BKDK's exam against AllMight, the first time they are FORCED to work together, might hold some sort of hint or parellel to how the two are going to fight our main villains in the end when they CHOOSE working together.
I focused mainly on the first cooperative ploy that they ever came up with together, for Katsuki to run out in front to draw AllMight, meanwhile, Izuku, SECRETLY CARRYING Katsuki's Gauntlet, surprises AllMight on his other side.
And how they could reunite, talk just briefly, and agree to replicate that same move, but reverse; with Katsuki secretly carrying OFA.
Then Izuku draws out Shigaraki and/or AFO, but he's not actually carrying OFA at the moment.
And then Katsuki comes from behind with an OFA amplified, Heroes Rising level blast.
"But AFO and Shig have "Search" they'll be able to tell!" Not necessarily, Search, I am pretty sure, needs to be activated, so it might not be something that is constantly in use for them, and why would they need to use it when Izuku Midoriya is right there in front of them? I don't think they'd be focusing on using Search in these moments of trying to kill Izuku/Katsuki.
And of course, yes it could be sealed with a kiss/with Katsuki trying to give breath to a suffocating Izuku. :)
I would also LOVE to see a version of this where Katsuki is the one BEGGING Izuku "Let me take it"
Like leaning over Izuku, who is physically in pain and struggling to breathe, clasping his hands tightly, as ShigAFO are closing in, in a hushed, urgent, almost panicked voice, "Please just hand it off to me so you can live!" Before kissing him with the purpose of getting the Quirk to transfer.
Ok, I hate to be the person in the corner screaming about Promare relating to MHA and even BKDK again, but, I can't help thinking here----
(spoilers below cut of Promare(Studio Trigger)
OK so it's being said that due to the 2nd's Gear Shift Quirk, Izuku could soon start feeling some heavy consequences of its use, including NOT BEING ABLE TO BREATHE, which, everyone is thinking could be a death flag maybe? At the very least, it would be a huge problem. Especially since Shigaraki isn't KO'd yet and AFO himself is on the way, no doubt to fuck everything up for the Heroes even more(and likely target Izuku and even Katsuki)
Obviously, grain of salt since the chapter isn't officially out yet, and we don't exactly know all the details of what this means.
BUT OK going on this not being able to breathe thing, Remember how in Promare, (SPOILERS, and forgive me I'm a bit rusty on all details) Lio nearly dies at the end, having used all his flame, but Galo, having seen earlier in the film how to revive a Burnish with a Kiss of life--Specifically Breathing their flame into the mouth of the other, does so for Lio.
(I didn't even use the best/most iconic shot of this moment bc I highly recommend you see it for yourself if you haven't and have decided to read my post anyway--)
It's a Burnish version of CPR but the one between Galo and Lio is treated very tenderly, like a kiss...I'm serious; the scene is slowed down, multiple shots, lighting is immaculate, Galo's tilting of Lio's chin, as shown above is JUST SO GENTLE... Paired with all the tension between these two leading up to this point, this READS LIKE A ROMANCE AND A KISS. (also this is either here nor there, but there's also an instance of what many call Straight-baiting XD)
But do we see where I'm going here?
So, Izuku pushes himself all the way to the brink, and stops being able to breathe as a consequence. The tides turn in ShigAFO's favor as Izuku loses the ability to keep up the fight. Katsuki comes to and pieces together what he's missed while being dazed and confused. Finds that Izuku has been fighting but is not reaching victory, and even worse, is now on the ropes; his time limit is spent. His body is breaking down.
He can't breathe.
And while a lot of them looking on don't know the whys or the details; it's obvious that Izuku is dying, suffocating.
Katsuki, knowing that OFA is a cursed power, can put enough of the puzzle together to know that this is a Quirk that is killing him.
He becomes involved again. He can't stay back anymore. HE IGNITES. He jumps in against everyone's advisements, rockets to Izuku, fights Shig and/or AFO off if he has to.
He hopes it's not too late as he presses his lips to Izuku's, he breathes for him.
Obviously this is a BKDK pipe dream and I know it will not occur but it was a brainworm nonetheless XD I'm sorry/not sorry, I saw Promare and that kiss of life won't leave my brain. It's such a beautiful movie.
Bonus, this is also how the two characters in Promare START:
I--I'm just saying.
The AU writes itself and Lio reads like a Vigilante Hero Deku. Galo is the fire fighter with the Burning soul and wants to burn brightest, I mean, if that is not BAKUGOU...
#I want a moment of IZuku saying Remember our fight with AM??#and katsuki being like :0#What if like#bakugou doesn't even fear death for himself anymore like#he's already been there#and if there is anything or anyone he's willing to die for its Izuku#He'd rather die again than see Izuku suffering and dying in front of him#Katsuki has seen how all the other users have died horrifically and have died young#And he has been protective of Izuku meeting that fate for so long it is soobvious

Thelreads, MHA 277, Replies Part 1
1) “Oh right, BNHA. Last time midoriya and his sidekick king of explosionmurder jumped in the fray because they are shonen characters and thus have no sense of self-preservation nor love for their lives. So, let’s jump in, on Chapter 277: Who…?
The Doctor?”- Well, there’s only one doctor nearby, but he’s an asshole, so fuck him. That said, the kids will certainly be needing a doctor after this…
2) “Oh yeah, must be nice meeting each other after so long, right? So good for best friends to meet again… (: “- As intense as this clash is, AFO’s mental coaching and interference means that this still isn’t them truly facing each other as enemies – they’re fighting because both belong to opposite sides of an ongoing war, but the personal animosity that should exist between arch-foes like it did with All Might and AFO just isn’t really there, and can’t be as long as Tomura is targeting Izuku under AFO’s orders…though at least he seems to be trying to break free of his puppet strings of his own free will…
3) “Like said a few moments ago: No sense of self-preservation. Let’s see how many bones are obliterated tonight.”-Spoiler: more than Izuku will be able to afford.
4) “Actually the worst case is you fucking dying, but I’ll let it slide because if Aizawa goes everyone else will soon follow suit, so, same thing.”- Aizawa has been relegated to that anime position of the holy maiden whose presence is the only thing holding back the end of the world through constant prayer or something.
5)“Don’t you know he has two kids and a husband to go back to? He can’t die here, he’s so close to retiring, this is his last job before he’s done with it, etc etc tempt fate as much as you like, because I’m already not so sure Aizawa will live to see the fall of The End”- Aizawa’s super-determined to see the kids all live, which means he’ll put himself in danger as best he can to protect them. Tomura is super-determined to kill everything, which he can’t do as long as Aizawa’s around, and doesn’t give a flying fuck about whatever kind of damage is able to be inflicted upon him so long as he succeed in that goal. It’s not a good combination.
6) “Alright Bakugo, I agree wholeheartedly, but question: Why are you involved then?”- Bakugou is Izuku’s support and current common sense holder, and his massive powerful explosions are also good for blinding Tomura, or briefly pushing him backwards from a mid-distance without getting close to him, which is still risky even with decay shut off.
7) “ Okay, even with his regeneration off he still isn’t worse for ear after that, and I doubt Bakugo held back on his shots
christ, this will definitely be a nightmare to fight against…”-The regeneration was already a cheat skill, but they went ahead and tried to make him damn near invulnerable on top of that. Thankfully, he can be damaged gradually, but a serious blow will be really hard to inflict unless Izuku goes 100% on him.
8) “Oh wow, what a burn that was when you stop to think about it
but unfortunately I can’t stop to think about it because Midoriya trying to rope Shigaraki just to be yoink’d like it was nothing was hilarious for some reason
oh my god kid”- Tomura’s long moved part the point where he was trying to unsuccessfully convince bakugou to be a villain. Now he’ll just do it himself. And that casual power difference is a great way to display that as much as Izuku is trying to combat him efficiently with his current “max” output, Tomura’s disregard of his own wellbeing has allowed him to reach greater levels of strength much quicker, to the point of casually dragging Izuku along almost without meaning to. Izuku can match him, but not with a safe level of %...
9) “So close to what Shigaraki? To the next yeet? Because certainly it isn’t to kill them, that much is still considerably away from coming to fruition.”- So close to destroying everything, or perhaps close to getting a hang on his new power’s capabilities and how best to fight with his new enhanced Strength. Or perhaps, it wasn’t actually Tomura saying it at that point, but AFO…
10) “Oh yeah Midoriya, unfortunately you haven’t witnessed the bullshit that he pulled so far, but trust them, it was the exact kind of absurdness that your dad would do on his prime.”- AFO wanted the Symbol of Fear to Be All Might’s Opposite and equal in every measure possible, and he spared no expense at achieving that goal.
11) “Yeah Aizawa but unfortunately there’s a shit-ton of super killing bio weapons running amok, I think that not blinking is gonna be a considerably tall order.”- That’s a problem for when they catch up to them. For now, they’ve gotta deal with the major super-killing bio weapon targeting them all directly.
12) “ …
Ooooookay… I’m starting to think that things are about to turn a little weird…
So, since we have a vestige of AfO inside of Shigaraki, the same way that we have them in OfA, can we assume that he can exert enough influence to take over Shigaraki?
Because I reaaaaally think that we’re gonna go down that path soon
We might not even need to get AfO out of tartarus, in a way, he’s already out”-As his mind starts to crack from the mental struggle within, so too does his body begin to break as a reflection of the strain it’s putting on him. We saw beforehand in facing shinso that the vestiges could exert physical control over Izuku’’s body when he himself couldn’t, but because they’re kind, upstanding heroic individuals, they refused to do so more than was necessary that one time. AFO is none of those things.
In a fitting bastardisation of the Manga’s themes of “Inherited Will” being passed from one generation to the next, teacher to student, when he took on the role of a mentor himself to have Tomura serve his plans, he literally had him inherit his will, and now that will of AFO’s ambitions is running around in a body free of the crippling injuries All Might left on his original….
13) “I have a feeling he is not aiming at just being a whisper and a sigh on the back of your mind
I have a feeling we won’t be seeing you anymore soon enough Shigaraki”- That will depend upon if the will of the next generation is storng enough to overcome the old one. Symbol of Fear vs Symbol of Evil, only one may sit upon the throne. We’ve seen how stubbornly determined Tomura can be before in facing the MLA, and that same willpower is now being tested on a battle on two fronts, mental and physical.

**bnha spoilers** I'm just sat here with renewed realisation of what All Might is going through. 40 years. /40 years/ he held and refined that power and dedicated his every waking (and sleeping if Vigilantes is anything to go by) moment towards the goal of defeating AfO and creating a society in which people could feel happy and safe. And now as it turns out AfO is still alive, society is broken and he has given a literal piece of his soul to this young boy leaving himself with only phantoms
Yes. I don’t think people quite grasp what all he’s going through.
It’s been shown recently to us that some, if not most, heroes have underlying ambitions in becoming a hero. Whether for money, glory, fame, popularity, doesn’t matter. They’re ultimately in it for themselves. Toshinori’s intentions from the beginning have been the most pure- he wanted to be a symbol that people can look to and know things will be ok. A symbol of hope. This boy was only around 14 years old when he decided this. What kind of 14 year old sees the world that clearly? Sees that people have no hope, that a veil of darkness covers them. The only thing I can think of is- Toshinori did not have a good childhood. Something had to have happened to a boy that young to stop seeing the joy in life so early, and see the world’s flaws. Truthfully, I believe he was an outcast- due to his quirklessness. Most likely an orphan, perhaps abandoned by his parents, as we’ve never seen him have any family. I do truly believe Toshinori has been alone all his life. I don’t doubt more could have happened to him as a child before he met Nana.
Some may argue that Izuku is the same age, and therefore it shouldn’t be that hard to see why Toshinori wanted to be a hero at such a young age. BUT, Izuku had someone to look up to, ever since he was a child of four years old, to inspire him to be a hero his whole life *cough cough* All Might. Izuku also was quirkless, much like Toshinori, and an outcast because of it (hence where I assume Toshinori was much the same). But ultimately, Izuku wanted to save people because he saw his hero do it. It really wasn’t until Izuku was a bit older, has been in UA, has been on rescue missions, has seen what the heroes see, that I think he’s truly realized how dark the world really is. Toshinori didn’t have that. He didn’t have someone to inspire him as a child, someone to look up to, a hero to inspire him to help others. At that time, heroes hadn’t become as popular as they are in present times. Toshinori saw the world for what it was, on his own, at a tender age. I think that day Nana ran into this blonde hair kid, she eyed him up, noticed his scraggly form, looked into those captivating blue eyes, and saw a man who’s lived through the world’s horrors- experienced the worst it has to offer-, and wants to save everyone he can from the same fate, all in a 14 year old boy.
Then after only a few short years with the woman he saw as his mother, she’s killed in front of him because of his own weakness- he wasn’t strong enough yet to protect her. The only other person his life, Gran Torino, literally abused him. He beat him to a pulp, taking his own emotions out on a teenager, and I doubt Toshinori said anything of it. He probably thought he deserved it. He’s still afraid of Gran Torino to this day, remembering the beatings and expecting more for his failures- even if he doesn’t know what they are surely he’s at fault for something, but he’s the only person who’s stood by his side for this long. Even while at a distance, and spouting nothing but criticisms along the way. But Toshinori had to put aside his own emotions to be that hope for everyone. He left everything he knew to go to a new country on his own, to learn how to be a hero, to be that hope for someone.
Vigilantes showed us just how hard he worked. Toshinori literally stayed awake with no sleep for days on end- 3 in the chapter I’m referencing- because people needed help, people needed saving, and no one else stepped up. He fought villains, rescued civilians, repaired damage, cleared rubble, (even accept and eat food that was against his dietary restrictions after his injury) whatever the public needed, all while draining himself further. He worked himself to the point of exhaustion because he had no help, once literally falling asleep while mid-leap across the city because he simply could go no further.
^^These happen in succession of each other^^
No one stepped up to say “Hey, Mr. Number 1, you’ve been working hard lately. Let me help you!” No one tried to take over his position. Even the Number 2 hero, Endeavor, never tried to take some of his burden. His only goal was to try to be better than All Might in terms of power- he was never trying to be the hero that the people relied on All Might for. Everyone relied on him when things looked grim. He was the back up plan. And all of this happened before Toshinori’s injury.
The only thing he ever wanted to do- help people- he can’t do (at least the way he’s always known how to). The ability to save people has been taken from him in the most gruesome way. He was finally able to fight the man that killed Nana, and in a rage that I’m sure echoed with all of the emotions of the previous users, he smashed that man’s head like a grape. But not without consequence. Several organs are gone. The pain is excruciating. He wears that man’s mark on his body for the rest of his life, never truly able to rid himself of the filth.
Then we have Nighteye’s betrayal. The man that helped him as a sidekick, the man that grew to be his only friend. Now some people may ask why Toshinori flipped like he did to Nighteye looking into his future when he was concerned about him making it through his injury. What I believe is Toshinori didn’t want to know when he would die (and really, who does). Now he knows he’s on a time limit, knows the clock is ticking. Time is running out to keep the world at peace, and with him as he is now, how long can this go on?
I think the betrayal, doing something that Toshinori specifically asked him not to do, is what hurt the most. How can he trust Nighteye anymore? He already can only count on one hand the people he can trust, let alone befriend.
He’s wasted away into a skeleton, a shell of the man he used to be. He can’t over exert himself without his only lung bleeding in protest. It’s canon in the side books that he really doesn’t eat much, which isn’t good for his diet without a stomach now (he’s supposed to have several small meals a day). He is quite literally punishing himself by starving. (Granted, he doesn’t feel hunger anymore.) He’s a sick man, beyond medical help at this point. They can only stabilize him and hope for the best. For five years now he’s in constant pain, every day. He loses blood like sweat. Surely his veins are bruised and collapsed with how many times he would have needed to be hospitalized. Whether from losing too much blood, being too dehydrated or starved from “forgetting” to eat, or an organ failing as body continues to fall apart. “...even as my body rots and grows frail...” - Toshinori People are bound to stare at him as he walks down the street. A tall, willowy, skeleton with a grimace on his face and blood stains on his clothes as he coughs up more into his own hands. There would be the ones who outright ignore him when they walk by, the people who offer pitying smiles and sympathetic glances or just outright stare, and then ones who are afraid of his appearance- children screaming at the mere sight of him and running to their parents to hide from the monster. Each one is another knife in Toshinori’s side, an ache in his chest. If only they knew who I really am.
Losing Nighteye took a toll on his hero work as well. Mirai was a huge help in the past, and took care of all Toshinori’s paperwork, while also reminding him to take care of himself. Without him, Toshinori was even more buried beneath his responsibilities. Plus, now he was on a time limit. He even snapped briefly in his first meeting with Tsukauchi, accidentally revealing himself as All Might because he was under too much pressure, and telling the detective he literally couldn’t handle doing everything by himself (who graciously took over the paperwork side of things for him).
He was living a double life now, having to lie to people left and right about who he was while in his small form, about how he became so sickly, why he was here in the first place who the heck is this skinny old guy. Surely he had multiple visits to the doctor while continuing to repair the damage done by AFO (there’s a limit to how much the body can handle at once. And things I’m sure continued to fail as time went on). Then he would be bedridden for as long as the doctors could keep him strapped to a bed, until he couldn’t take the people’s cries for help any longer, and would jump into action. (It’s also revealed he has something of a super hearing- able to hear danger- which may have been a form of danger sense of OFA that was never fully unlocked?. Either way, he surly could sense disasters happening while he could only lay and heal from his latest surgery. Those poor doctors must have had to re-stitch him several times). People blame him for not preparing society for his retirement, that he failed in passing on the torch so to speak, but in reality he did everything possible to keep society from falling for 40 years, doing all within his power just to keep things afloat. He is only one person. One human being, he can’t do everything despite trying to. Society failed All Might.
People blame him for not being a good teacher. He didn’t exactly have the greatest teacher himself to learn from. He’s never had to teach anyone anything, he just punches! He’s learning. And for his own credit, he’s an incredibly wise man, he has years of experience under his belt, and an intelligence score of 6/6, scoring up there with Nezu! He may not always have the right way to bring something up, but he’s doing his best. Yet even he blames himself for Izuku not being able to control his quirk better. Every time the boy hurts himself, it’s just another tally on the chalkboard of Toshinori’s failures. He himself knows the boy deserves better, better than him. Useless. Pathetic.
Then his friend from America, Dave, essentially became a villain trying to preserve Toshinori’s legacy after Toshinori told him about his injury. Dave went behind his back, threatened people, injured people (pretty sure people died), all for Toshinori’s sake. Something he didn’t want to begin with. Having to put your only other friend in jail for trying to help you surely couldn’t have been easy.
Oh, by the way? All For One isn’t dead. All Might will fight him again, publicly, have his weakened form exposed to the world, and have his own emotions toyed with as he finds out about his master’s grandson in the villain’s hands. Would Nana hate him for leaving her son alone like she’d asked, and dooming her grandchild to be raised by the greatest villain? Could he have done anything to save him? But Toshinori isn’t allowed to feel, he has to smile and push his own feelings aside once again, because there’s a villain to be fought, and only he can fight him. Despite coming out on top, he’ll have suffered severe head trauma, broken left arm, destroyed right arm, and several cuts and bruises that are sure to scar. And then, his quirk, the only thing that’s been allowing him to help people, the gift given to him that he carefully held for 40 years and molded into his own until his very consciousness was permanently carved into it, blows out like a match in the wind. And he’s done. Used up. Empty. Broken. Hollow. Alone, again.
He overhears his student, Bakugo, admit that he blames himself for All Might’s retirement. If he hadn’t been captured, All Might wouldn’t have had to save him, and he wouldn’t have had to fight AFO. Of course Toshinori knows that’s not true, his time was about to run out anyway. It would have happened one way or another. But how can he explain to this child that he wasn’t the cause of his hero, the world’s greatest hero, fighting for his sake, bleeding for his sake, being forced into retirement to keep him safe. Every time Bakugo sees the bandages covering Toshinori’s body is another reminder of the pain and sacrifice Toshinori willingly gave to keep him safe. Toshinori wasn’t held when his mentor died. He wasn’t told it was ok to be sad, that grief and mourning was a natural process, that it takes time to heal. He wasn’t told it was ok to cry. Instead his feelings were beaten out of him as he wondered if Gran Torino blamed him for Nana’s death. He already blamed himself How then, does he comfort a child mourning for him? For what he lost.
And then he gets the call to come to the hospital. Mirai, Nighteye, his old sidekick friend, has been gravely injured, much like he himself was only a few years ago, and most likely won’t survive the night. And to his horror, Nighteye is happy to see him, smiles at him, says he doesn’t hate him for what happened, only wants Toshinori to be happy. He can’t accept that, at least let him apologize, reconcile his sins before it’s too late! But it is. Another fractured piece of his heart gone.
Of course, seeing your students beat up and their arms completely destroyed must have hurt. Instead of being able to save these kids, they’re the ones that hurt themselves to save everyone else. And if Bakugo had kept OFA, things could have been very different (especially with what we know now of OFA and people with quirks). Toshinori wasn’t mad at Izuku for transferring it away, he’d never regret choosing Izuku, and I believe he still would have stayed by Izuku and Bakugo’s side should it have stayed in Bakugo, doing whatever he could to help.
As he tells Aizawa, “I’ve decided to live,” -that statement seems so melancholy, besides obvious reasons. It sounds more like another task he has to accomplish. He didn’t die he was supposed to die with the AFO fight, and now the whole life he lived is over. The world has no use for him anymore. If not for Izuku, he’d have nothing left keeping him here. But because his boy made him promise to live, he’ll do so. Though it almost seems like he says those words with regret. “I’ve decided to live.” Not, “I’m going to live!” “Nothing can kill me!” “I won’t go down without a fight!” No. “I’ll live if I have to, only because you asked me to.” The man is obviously and outwardly depressed. He has so many things against him. No doubt has severe PTSD, anxiety, among others. Not to mention his own physical health. Every day hurts. It’s painful to be alive. Why would he torture himself if he doesn’t have to? For you, my boy. You’re the only thing keeping me here. The only light in my dark world.
He tries to help Izuku find out the previous holder’s quirks, to help his boy in any way he can now that he’s worthless, and goes days on end without sleep, running his body into the ground. He even forgets Christmas. Only to find that by giving the boy the same gift he had received, he may have just doomed him to an early death, among psychological torture (danger detection). (Granted, he really doesn’t know how everything works, and he’s afraid to talk to anyone about it). His boy could live only half a life.
It’s only been a few months since he retired, and society has fallen into shambles. People are blaming him. People are dying. He watches helplessly as his colleague fight his fight for him, and end up battered, bruised, crippled, dead. He students, his boy, battle the monster he should have killed. Children are bleeding. This shouldn’t happen. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Is everything he worked for, everything he fought to protect, to build up, to inspire, is all for naught?! Did he live a foolish dream and doom the world? Was all the the friends he lost, tears he shed, the organs he destroyed, the pain he endures on a daily basis from the hole in his side, and the blood he continues to bleed every day, for nothing? The public, the ones he protected for so long, mourn his absence, but surely there are those among them who also blame him. The statue from his last fight in Kamino one that he never asked for was decimated in a mock of his catch phrase- the one that was supposed to give hope.
Now he can feel his own vestige speaking with Izuku in the OFA realm, even with out OFA in his own body anymore. His clock as nearly reached it’s limit, Nighteye’s prediction is due any day now. The only thing he wants is to see his boy smile at him, to give him some shred of hope. Yet the child remains unconscious, and Toshinori can’t even hold his hand from the bandages covering his arms. Will he still be able to fight? Is there any coming back from this now? Did I break him?
With all Toshinori has been through, I’m honestly surprised we haven’t seen him just outright break down. Anyone, anyone, else should have crumbled under the pressure of holding up the world for 40 years alone. And instead of being able to pass it on to someone when he can no longer bear its weight, it simply falls to into the abyss. People don’t credit All Might enough for everything he’s done. Most don’t realize the sacrifices he’s made. His character is so unbelievably profound and deep, it’s more than just the “I am here!” people focus on. He’s a deeply troubled, layered, complex character. And I can’t find fault within him.

Okay but hear me out
Dad villain Izuku.
( I mean dadzuku for the won but still!)
Like, him having his precious little boy/girl?
Fierce protective dad?
Huh...kinda sounds like the start of a Mob AU.
Idk i just like dad izuku so I thought you might too!
You have just opened a can of worms you cannot close!!! Haha but really, here's some pregnancy/baby headcanons because a lot of people tend to enjoy that. Not really my cup of tea, but I'll make an exception here. To your credit, you've got me really thinking on this. 😳
“Not really my cup of tea”, I say, as I make the world’s longest headcanons about Vil!Deku being a dad.
TW: Pregnancy, children, cursing. :)
Dad Villain!Deku HC's
-Look, Vil!Deku is already possessive as fuck. The second he finds out you're pregnant? He will literally be attached to you at the hip. Can't go anywhere without this man. Can you say coddling?
-He's so thrilled and nervous at the same time. Not about being a bad parent or anything, more about you or your child getting injured, threatened, or put in danger.
-It started with some symptoms that looked like the run of the mill flu. You probably got pretty bad morning sickness, and he fussed over you the whole time; held your hair back for you, rubbed your back, made you tea, the whole nine yards.
-Both of you just thought it was a stomach bug. But you just kept getting sick, and Deku actually took some time off work to stay with you and make sure you were okay (what a gentleman).
-After a week of being sick, this man is so concerned about you and your health that he calls a doctor to your place to take a look at you. God help that poor doctor because if he even looks at you the wrong way, Deku will obliterate him.
-Doctor asks if you could be pregnant, and both of you just kind of go quiet.
-Deku had thought of that possibility but refused to acknowledge it because something that good? Happening to an outcast like him? A criminal? To someone who was never worthy enough to be a hero? No. Way.
-But it did! You can probably see Deku's eyes visibly sparkle when the doc asks that question. The doctor leaves with the theory that you're pregnant and tells you to take a test.
-Congratulations! You're both going to be parents!
-Everything is so different after that. Deku has always been soft on you because you're his Sweet, but he's extra soft and caring now. Also extremely protective and possessive?
-"It's just the grocery store. I can do it myself, it's alright!" You're out of groceries? He's going with you. You can't argue it. "I'll go with you." "What if someone recognizes you?" "They won't say a word about it. I’ll make sure of it." You know what that means...
-Pregnancy cravings are wild, but he's miraculously got it covered. Never forgets a single craving you've had. Always has your favorite foods on hand, including the odd ones. Pickles? There's three whole jars in the fridge. Certain flavor of chips? Always a bag in the pantry. And if there's ever an instance where you crave something he doesn't have on hand, he makes his lackeys go get it while he stays at home with you. But if he absolutely had to, he would get it himself.
-Nobody is allowed to touch you, especially not now that you're carrying his child. If anyone so much as breathes too close to you, they're toast.
-Keeps tabs on you 24/7. Has to know where you're at and that you're okay or he's worrying 25/8.
-Somehow he's even more crazy about you? Just the fact that you're pregnant with his child is enough to stir him up any day, any time. You've definitely caught him staring at your stomach obsessively several times.
-Takes THEE best care of you. You are your child's lifeline and the love of his life, so you have to stay healthy and happy. Once again...can you say coddling? Makes sure you've eaten throughout the day, brings you water, makes you rest, runs you hot baths, generally just keeps an eye on you to make sure you're okay. Oh, and if you're working? Say goodbye to that job for now. No way you're doing anything strenuous while he can help it.
-If you for some reason insist on keeping the 9-5 job and you manage to convince him otherwise, he visits you on your lunch break whenever he can and hacks into the security cameras way too often for his own good. Literally will be in the middle of a meeting watching live feed from your store.
-Whenever the kid is due, he’s gonna have a bit of a rough time during the whole process. It’s hard for him, because he doesn’t trust the doctors and nurses at the hospital to give you top notch care when he’s not there, and he can’t really take you there anyways because of his villain status (do you think maybe villains have hospitals and resources for each other?? That would be kind of cool...). He ends up pulling some strings with a fellow vigilante/former villain connection who works in the hospital, and they work out some sort of undercover deal probably?
-Don’t question, just accept. He’s got it all covered. He gets to stay with you through everything and he’s got the best doctors and nurses on your case, top notch, extremely professional and comforting for you. They don’t bat an eye at a villain and his s/o and child, they just do their job and keep quiet about it (how does some extra cash sound?).
-Super tense right up until it’s all done. If looks could kill, everyone in that room besides you and the baby would be dead. But he softens right up once he gets to hold the baby. Despite you being extremely tired, you’re glad you stayed awake to see this, because there’s a certain look on his face. For a second, it almost seems like he’s back to how he was before...almost as if he was never a villain in the first place. The hope in his eyes is reminiscent of something old and nostalgic; it reminds you of when he aspired to be a hero. But still it’s not quite right.
-He is immediately mesmerized by your child. “They look like you...” He’s never held something so vulnerable before and felt so...warm, other than the times he’s held you.
-He would kill for both you and your child. If anyone ever threatened you or put the both of you in a dangerous situation, he would drop everything without a second thought to come running to save you. Pray for anyone who comes between the two of you; Deku will make sure they meet a fate worse than death.
-You both take turns taking care of the baby when they wake you up at night, but Deku will be willing to get up before you do nine out of ten times. He loves his child, he really does. It gives him something to take care of and nurture and it makes him feel hopeful again. That kid is his pride and joy.
-There was one time (but only one, because you absolutely ripped into him for it) where you heard the baby cry, and Deku offered to get up and take care of it, so you rolled over and tried to go back to sleep. But he never came back to bed, and the baby had been silent for a long time, so you got up to check on them to make sure they were alright, and what did you find? Deku, wide awake at his work desk with his laptop open, baby sitting comfortably on his lap with a bottle, and some surveillance footage and grotesque crime scene pictures pulled up. You were livid.
-”You better not be doing what I think you’re doing. You’re going to traumatize our child.” He looks like a deer caught in headlights when you interrupt his work. The baby just coos and gurgles, and you are absolutely mortified. He looks like he’s about to say something, and you cut him off before he can answer. “Whatever you’re going to say better be a damn good apology, Deku.” Oh, he’s in trouble all right. He just slowly shuts his laptop and brings the baby over to you. Kisses can fix everything, right? ;) He better hope so.
-Even though he’s a villain, the baby always goes quiet when he holds them. It’s like magic, almost. Sometimes you can’t get them to stop crying, and Deku will just come up and look at him with those soft eyes he reserves for only the two of you, and the baby just starts cooing and reaching out for him. Gee, favorites much?
-Never was there ever a moment more peaceful and serene than the time you came home to Deku asleep on the couch with his arms cradled around your child, face soft from sleep and the baby breathing lightly. You feel so lucky to have this in your life. It’s not easy being villains, but this was something you never expected to have, and it’s changed both of you for the better.
Bonus:
-If Deku still has a relationship with his mom, you can bet he gets her to babysit when you decide to go back to work (if you do at all, because he really wants you to stay at home with him and the baby).
-If your mother wasn’t the best or isn’t around, congrats, Mama Midoriya is now your mother, and there is nothing you can do about it. And honestly? Deku loves seeing the way you bond with her. He’s made himself a tiny family that loves him for who he is. There’s no greater feeling in the world than that.

i was wondering if/when you’d speculate about all might getting kidnapped because i’ve been thinking about it since izuku ditched him. after all, back when he found out about nighteye’s prophecy, izuku vowed to be by all might’s side, changing his fate with him. but now that he’s broken that vow, this is the perfect opportunity for some all might angst (although i mostly think he’ll survive and the will of all the people that want him too will converge on izuku and enable him to change fate, just like back when he rescued eri)
In my defense, I got so hung up on the question of whether or not All Might would die that I hadn't considered other possibilities yet.
LET’S COMPILE THE EVIDENCE
Everyone’s speculating that the car seen on its way to Kamino Ground Zero contains All Might. And that can only spell trouble.
And the last we saw of All Might had its own disquieting imagery of All Might falling, unable to reach Izuku, unable to say the words he needs to him before it’s too late.
And we even get a little glimpse of Stain, who until this point has seen All Might as the only true hero proven worthy of the title.
All Might is aware of Nighteye’s prophecy that he will meet a villain and die a gruesome death. Interestingly, we never hear who that villain is. Nighteye should know what Tomura looks like by the time we are introduced to him, but maybe Nighteye doesn’t remember what the villain from his vision years ago looks like. Not to mention, Tomura’s appearance has changed significantly since Nighteye might have seen a picture of him.
Any number of circumstances could lead up to this potential fate of All Might’s.
There has been plenty of foreshadowing that All Might and Tomura will meet again.
There is precedent to Gran Torino’s advice in the post-war hospital arc to Izuku about killing villains. He alluded to that opinion after Kamino when speaking with All Might and Tsukauchi about Tenko Shimura.
Those allusions include All Might’s implied perspective: that he wants to save Tenko.
Izuku also wants to save Tenko.
The vestige All Might’s tears here aren’t just for being moved by Izuku. They’re for the potential rescue of Tenko.
When All Might visits All For One in Tartarus, he deduces All For One’s plan in using Tomura against him and Izuku.
What’s concerning is how All For One never actually confirms that this is his plan. He just lets All Might keep talking.
In any case, this moment further foreshadows a future encounter between All Might and Tomura.
Since then, there have been narrative spotlights placed on All Might’s transformation from protector to protected.
One of the primary reasons that Deku vs. Kacchan, Part 2 happens is because of Katsuki’s self-blame for All Might’s weak state. Whether or not the conclusion is justified, it’s clear Katsuki has a lot of anxiety about what All Might has become.
All Might is a liability, an exploitable weakness, and Katsuki has probably realized that for a long time.
Much of Katsuki’s behavior can be read as him being concerned for Izuku. The below scene reads like Katsuki chastising Izuku for once again not taking his own well-being into account when he decided to blab about One For All to Katsuki at the beginning of the school year.
But the scene also can be read as Katsuki finding a new resolution to grow stronger. Perhaps he wants to fight on Izuku’s level in the end as a rival. Perhaps he wants to protect Izuku, who is too selfless for his own good.
And perhaps he wants to protect All Might, his beloved idol, for whose downfall Katsuki still blames himself.
Once the secret of One For All gets out and people believe All Might is quirkless, villains could come after All Might to target his chosen successor. They could come after All Might to force him to spill where One For All is, taking advantage of his weakened state to use him as a hostage.
Katsuki seems to distrust All Might. It could be to do with All Might’s dishonesty towards Izuku about some topics that Katsuki picks up on. Perhaps Katsuki feels protective of Izuku. We all thought that was the case with the Fourth’s mysterious quirk. We thought maybe the quirk was going to hurt Izuku.
But knowing what the quirk is now, I don’t think that’s the case.
Good ol’ chapter 284. We’ll never be done with you.
After learning what we did from the post-war vestige conversation, it’s likely Katsuki originally suspected All Might of hiding information that would make Izuku worry about All Might. What All Might hid about Shinomori’s death probably would have raised questions about if All Might was on the verge of death because of the effects of One For All.
We have no confirmation that Katsuki knows about Nighteye’s prophecy.
Katsuki cares about what happens to Izuku, but he also cares about what happens to All Might. The chapter 284 flashback feels like another scene where All Might is allowed to come to conclusions without the other person confirming them. Katsuki is worried about Izuku, but he’s also probably worried about All Might. As I’ve stated elsewhere:
“That blindness of All Might’s is the source of Katsuki’s distrust in him. If Katsuki keeps Izuku at arm’s length for his inability to consider himself, Katsuki logically would do the same to All Might. Katsuki is worried about them both. He cares about them both.”
The anxiety Katsuki has about All Might’s well-being, the highlight placed on his attempts to repress how much he cares about All Might, well, those emotions are foreshadowing at its finest.
That as well as the potential for a narrative bookend.
The series began with All Might saving Izuku and Katsuki. If chapter 1 foreshadows the ending, perhaps Izuku and Katsuki will someday need to work together ([cough] Heroes Rising [cough]) to return the favor and save All Might.

Epilogue for the Lost - Chapter 1
"From the look of the empty streets, there have been talks with an anonymous tip that they may have found a lead on the notorious AFO murders."
"Mama!"
A small child with fluffy green hair rushed towards a slender woman with matching jade locks, his small hands clung to her skirt as if his life depended on it. Straight away, she muted her television and gave her son the attention he currently needed;
"Izuku?" the woman, his mother, blinked in complete surprise. Raking a hand gently through his unruly hair while taking note of his sniffles, muffled by the fact his face was currently buried in her legs. "What-" she jostled around, bending her body so that she could meet her toddler's eyes, "What's the matter?"
The mother couldn't conceal a small frown that etched across her face. Had something happened? She'd only taken her eyes off of him for a few minutes while he was playing in his bedroom…
"It's them!" he wailed, unable to hold back his outburst. His entire frame was quivering, like he was genuinely terrified and for his mother, that scared her. Immensely.
"Who?" she was able to muster through a choke of her own. Goosebumps crept up her arms at the thought of an intruder inside their small home and she squeezed Izuku closer. "Who?" she repeated, voice harder this time.
She felt her own legs buckle when Izuku pointed to the empty hallway with a trembling finger and then whispered, "They're standing right there."
.-.-.-.-.
Cleaning red liquid from sharpened steel, Hisashi Midoriya let out a small huff. Glancing down at the blood-soaked sheet on the ground, he bit back a groan of frustration.
He'd be here for a while cleaning this…
A soft buzz coming from his blazer pocket momentarily distracted him and he immediately fished out his phone.
A message from Inko? He immediately unlocked his phone and clicked on the notification, eyebrows rising high enough to cause his forehead to crinkle.
He did it again.
A simple phrase that was often very common with most parents. This usually meant that their child had caused a giant mess at home, got into a scuffle with another child or had a minor injury. Typical juvenile behaviour.
But not his child. His only child.
As a baby, his son Izuku had often babbled baby-talk and stared for long periods of time at areas of their house that had nothing there. When he was learning to talk, he had a tendency to point at places indoors and outdoors and then tell his understandably concerned parents that he could see people smiling back at him.
The problem, though?
Every time Izuku had one of these outbursts, there had been nothing there. Inko and Hisashi had shrugged it off and tried to blot it from their minds, choosing to believe that it was just the overactive imagination of a highly strung toddler.
But the final nail in the coffin for his father, at least, was when Izuku had tugged his shirt sleeve and uttered the words that still shook him to his core;
"Uncle says thank you for the flowers."
His younger brother was dead. Had been for a long time yet it didn't stop Hisashi from paying his respects and leaving flowers at his brother's grave. Now, in most circumstances, if Hisashi had heard this from anybody else, he may have teared up a little. But this time? It frightened him.
Izuku had never been told about his younger brother. Inko and Hisashi had been waiting to explain once their son had gotten a little older to understand the concept of life and death.
There was a low moan and Hisashi looked over his shoulder at the chained-down figure in the background with a grunt. It seemed like his wife could read his mind as another message pinged underneath the first;
I know you've been busy with work lately but I think we need to talk about this with a professional. I'm worried, Hisashi.
Another moan from the background, this time it was slightly louder. Hisashi made a small guttural sound of complete annoyance at his captive's rudeness. He was looking forward to snuffing out another foolish member of the criminal underworld that dared show their ugly faces around his territory.
Apologies, work has indeed been rather strenuous lately...
He paused, glancing down at his selection of his tools of trade, ranging from the sharpest, longest knives to various types of heavier artillery. His rank and feared status in the criminal underworld did make it extremely easy to acquire such deadly weaponry after all…
Hisashi hummed, making a decision as he turned his attention towards a small handgun with a twisted expression that made him look more uncomfortable than annoyed.
I should be home within an hour. Two at the most.
"Consider this a mercy," he growled, cocking the gun against the temple of his victim with an expression that was completely lacking any kind of remorse. His eyes lit up in childish glee at the click of the weapon under his fingertips and a grin spread out across his face as the firearm bellowed and shot a bullet straight through the skull of his victim; killing the man instantly as he fell from the chair and hit the floor face first.
He could make a quick phone call to Giran. His associate and his young ward could clean up the aftermath together. It wasn't a massive job to complete.
After glancing down at the screensaver on his phone of his beautiful young family with a soft smile, he finally pocketed it and turned to the carnage across the floor of the warehouse.
It was time to return home.
As he reached for his coat, the sound of the front door being suddenly being pounded against caused his hand to falter. Hazel eyes flashed in fury when he heard several shouts followed by the repeated slamming motions.
He slowly made his way to one of the boarded-up windows and squinted through one of the many cracks in the old, decaying wood until his eyes landed on the cause of the loud slamming motions against metal.
The Police Force.
Cursing darkly, he quickly pocketed his handgun and tore his tie from his shirt and discarded it thoughtlessly on the ground. With a restrained grunt, he shrugged off his blazer and yanked his buttoned up shirt roughly, tearing several buttons from the fabric as they bounced along the ground.
"Sorahiko," Hisashi muttered darkly. If anybody on the damned force had found him, he had no doubt in his mind that it would have been that bitter old fool who was responsible for this. He hoped that the old cretin stepped through the doors first, he'd happily shoot the fool dead on the spot for daring to get in his way.
However, for the first time in a very long while, Hisashi was rendered speechless when the door was forced open and a raven-haired woman stepped through first, armed with a massive firearm that was pointing straight at the killer.
Before he could even act, Nana Shimura open fired. The bullets soared towards their target like tiny comets, ready to do as much damage as they could.
Flashes of his kind-hearted wife flooded his mind as he felt hard, hot metal pierce into his body. Strangely enough, it didn't feel as excruciating as he'd previously imagined.
Letting out a choked gasp, he felt his own weapon slip from his hand and he watched with tired eyes as it clattered to the ground. The noise echoing through his head like a never ending echo through a dark tunnel.
What is this feeling?
Was he dying?
Swallowing the hard lump in his throat, he looked up at the flickering lights above him, eyes following along the cracks formed around the cheap plastic. A sharp pain suddenly emitted from his head and his thoughts turned fuzzy, like his brain had turned to static.
Izuku was still so young…
This couldn't be the end.
He didn't want to die like this.
Oh, God. Inko. What would she say, or do? If they found out the truth; they'd discover his family and…
Darkened eyes focused back on the trembling woman, piercing onyx orbs reflecting absolute hatred despite the stream of tears leaking down her face as her jaw trembled while her knees threatened to give out underneath her.
"That was for Daigoro," Nana choked out, body slumping when the demon in front of her eyes hit the floor face-first.
Hisashi's eyes zoned in on the cold, rough ground that his face was currently pressed up against. There was one chance at protecting his wife and child.
Just one.
He'd be sealing his own fate but if it meant protecting them?
Hisashi would do anything.
Shaking hands slowly reached towards his trouser back pocket. The small firearm wouldn't do much for trying to fend off Shimura, but thankfully that's not what he was planning on aiming for.
"One for all," Hisashi breathed out, cocking his gun and ignoring the screams from Shimura and her lackeys, "and all for one."
A single, deafening gunshot rang out and then within seconds, alarms began to blare and the shouting became more panicked and erratic. Hisashi vaguely took in the abrupt feeling of a harsh heat spreading and a sickening smog that churned his insides. He closed his eyes, nausea and pain merged together into one and he allowed himself to fall deeper into the shadows that clung to him.
Guess I'll be seeing you sooner than I thought, Izuku.
It would finally be over.
Right?

Nishimura Yousuke vs. the Green Monster (Part 2 of Heros, Villains, and Mysterious Flowers)
I’m not gonna say much because this is already really long...but I finally finished the second installment of “Heroes, Villains, and Mysterious Flowers”! And Yousuke (aka douchebag oc) gets a redemption! Enjoy!
AO3 Link for this part: https://archiveofourown.org/works/36987817
AO3 Link if you haven’t read part 1: https://archiveofourown.org/works/35643121
.
.
.
Yousuke peeked around the corner, eyes peeled for the green monster that had been haunting his nightmares since the day of their fateful encounter. He let out a sigh of relief when he only saw Bakugou-senpai. Yousuke had been plagued by guilt since the day that he had gone off on Bakugou. He really wanted to apologize, but he also didn't have a death wish. He never even got the chance to get close to Bakugou-senpai because Midoriya-senpai always seemed to be lurking around. So he may or may not have taken to spying.
Don’t get him wrong, Yousuke knew that spying was unheroic, but was struggling to process the feelings of guilt that he had and seeing Bakugou-senpai sparring with his various classmates really taught him a lot about him.
He had always imagined Bakugou-senpai as a bad sport. But that couldn’t have been farther from the truth. After watching him give his classmates helpful, if not a little harshly worded, advice; help classmates up; laugh off his losses; and be humble in his victories, Yousuke felt like he needed to apologize. It was his mission. The only thing hindering it was Midoriya Izuku.
.
.
.
He spotted the little twerp again. Personally, Izuku liked to think that he didn’t hold grudges easily, but this kid—Nishimura Yousuke—had hurt Katsuki… his Kacchan…and Izuku didn’t take kindly to people who hurt the ones he loved. He glared menacingly as the first year crept nervously towards Kacchan. If the bastard took another step, Izuku would not hesitate to end his bloodline.
He was about to intercept the kid, but then Kacchan noticed the nervous first year. Katsuki looked hesitant which made Izuku scowl. He beelined to the first year before Kacchan made it to him, “Why, Nishimura-kun! We meet again!” Izuku imbued all the false enthusiasm he could into his voice. If he didn’t, he was going to tear this kid to shreds. “Don’t you have places to be? I heard the first years are training at Ground Beta?”
Izuku got extreme satisfaction from the fact that Nishimura looked like he was going to wet himself from fear before a warm palm landed on his shoulder. His smile became genuine as he turned to face Kacchan—but…Katsuki was scowling at him. Izuku was confused as Katsuki shot him a glare before turning to Nishimura.
.
.
.
Katsuki was gonna kill Deku—but that could wait for a moment while he dealt with a traumatized first year.
To clarify, Katsuki had been expecting Beach Day’s apology for weeks. What he didn’t expect was for his boyfriend to be scaring the younger boy away. Izuku had been bullied himself, so Katsuki hadn’t expected him to take a similar route simply just because the victim was someone who had said some ill-inspired words to Katsuki once.
Apparently, Katsuki had underestimated Izuku’s protectiveness.
He sincerely hoped that Izuku had never gotten physical in the pursuit of keeping Beach Day away from Katsuki, and he was pissed that Deku had even sunk as low as verbal or psychological harassment. Has their years of development and Katsuki’s atonement and apology taught him nothing?
Katsuki couldn’t stand bullies. The weight of his past actions sat heavy on his shoulders, but he had spent almost three years atoning and planned on many, many more. As long as he was alive and kicking, Bakugou Katsuki was not going to be a bystander or a bully ever again.
That being said, as a former bully himself, Katsuki knew that aggression was not the way to solve his problems. Bullies were bullies because they were lacking something—attention, support, direction, self-worth—and fighting fire with more fire never got anyone anything—it just scorched things to nothingness.
Beach Day had been in the wrong when he had harassed Katsuki and the things said had hurt, but that doesn’t mean that the 15-year-old standing in front of Katsuki was irredeemable. If Katsuki could redeem himself after several years of bullying, then Beach Day should get the chance to apologize for some unkind words.
Katsuki offered a forgiving smile to Nishimura and spoke.
.
.
.
“Long time, no see, Beach Day. What’s up?” Bakugou-senpai asked him.
Yousuke was astounded by how casual he was. It was as if Yousuke had never said anything and he and Bakugou-senpai were merely friendly peers. But Yousuke wouldn’t be fooled. He knew that he needed to apologize for his actions, so he cleared his throat quickly and awkwardly, plowing forward before he lost his nerve or Midoriya-senpai decided that he was being a nuisance again. “I-I’m really, really sorry, Bakugou-senpai. I shouldn’t have said those horrible things to you. There’s no excuse, but I guess it just astounded me that you could be so hostile but still be such a successful hero. I wanted to apologize sooner, but I was scared.
“…watching you spend time with your classmates opened my eyes. You’re so kind and helpful to them despite being outwardly gruff and unapproachable. A heroic heart is heavily protected inside your chest and I really admire it. I-I don’t expect forgiveness—” Yousuke bows to Bakugou-senpai, “but I wouldn’t have been able to live with myself if I hadn’t apologized to the most heroic student I know!”
Yousuke keeps his eyes shut tightly and remains bowed while he waits for Bakugou to tell him that what he did was unforgivable, but is surprised when only hears a calm, “Stand up, Beach Day.”
Yousuke rises hesitantly and glances warily between Bakugou, who looks calm and friendly despite his scowl, and Midoriya-senpai, whose judgemental gaze makes Yousuke want to sink into the floor. Yousuke’s bottom lip wobbled from the fear he felt at Midoriya’s intense gaze, “W-w-well…I should pr-pr-probably be going now…sorry for bothering—”
“Doing a bad thing doesn’t make you a bad person,” Bakugou said simply. Yosuke gaped at him, but Bakugou continued, “I’ve made a fuckton of horrible mistakes and thought myself irredeemable for a long, long time. You hit me right where it hurts, but—” Bakugou’s gaze went far off and he smiled fondly. “If I can be forgiven for years of mistakes,” he reset his eyes on Yousuke with a kind yet barely perceptible smile that made Yousuke think that he was lucky to see it, “then you can be forgiven for a moment of weakness.”
Yousuke teared up and he placed a hand over his mouth as he began sobbing. Bakugou-senpai placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder and the action gave him the courage to softly ask, “Can..can I have a hug…please?”
Bakugou rolled his eyes but still opened his arms, and Yousuke felt extremely happy despite wetting Bakugou’s shirt with his tears. He awkwardly apologized for it as he pulled away, but Bakugou only responded with an annoyed, “Fucking…call me Katsuki if you’re gonna use fucking honorifics, Beach Day. Now that we’re done with the sappy shit, you can show me what Eyebags-sensei has been teaching you this year. You wanna spar?”
Yousuke wanted so badly to scream yes. Sparring with a third year student, especially one as skilled as Ba-Katsuki-senpai, would be an invaluable experience—but he hesitated when he felt a familiar glare boring into the side of his head. His excitement dimmed when he glanced over and noticed Midoriya-senpai staring intensely with his broad arms, that could easily pluck Yousuke’s head off of his body, crossed over his chest.
Yousuke opened his mouth to refuse, then Ba-Katsuki-senpai turned to Midoriya with a scowl.
.
.
.
Izuku had been shocked and kind of annoyed by the whole encounter, yet he still shrunk into himself a little when Katsuki turned another glare on him, “What the hell, Deku?! Stop fucking tormenting him! I will not fucking hesitate to revoke cuddle privledges,” his boyfriend said, much to Izuku’s horror. “In fact, I’m really fucking disappointed that you would sink as low as terrifying a kid because they made a mistake, so they might already be revoked for the night.”
Izuku’s immediate reaction was to fall on his knees and beg for forgiveness, but then he caught a glimpse of the little bastard that just hugged his boyfriend and his resolve returned. “I acknowledge that you’ve forgiven him, Kacchan, but I’m finding it hard to forgive someone for hurting somebody I love. I won’t apologize for it.”
Katsuki seemingly glared harder at him, but Izuku could recognize the undertone of hurt in his expression. He reached out to put a comforting hand on Kacchan, but his boyfriend pulled away. “I didn’t fucking say you had to forgive. I just resent that you’ve fucking turned to scaring the people that you don’t like just because they hurt me. Do you not think that I’m strong enough to fight my own battles? Or is it that making a simple fucking mistake immediately condemns a person—a child ? Because let me tell you, Midoriya Izuku,” Katsuki’s voice almost imperceptibly cracked there, and Izuku’s heart was in agony, “we are going to have some fucking problems if you think either of those things are true.”
Kacchan’s pointed look told him that he didn’t want to believe that Izuku would think such things or that he would be such a hypocrite to treat others with blatant contempt without a chance to even apologize when the favor was extended to Katsuki. The hurt that Izuku still saw on Kacchan’s face tugged on his heartstrings, and even though he had not abandoned his resentment towards Nishimura-kun, he turned and slightly bowed to the first-year.
“Nishimura-kun. I cannot forgive your actions yet, but I was in the wrong for purposefully scaring you away from your pursuit of an apology. I’m truly sorry.”
Izuku rose, barely sparing Nishimura a glance, and turned to Kacchan, grabbing his lover’s hand before speaking once more.
.
.
.
Katsuki's heart was still burning with Deku’s betrayal—yet he loved the greenet standing in front of him. Green eyes shining with determination and a little regret, enough to make Katsuki’s stomach do somersaults. “Kacchan, I’m sorry for seeming so hypocritical…I-I know you can take care of yourself. I was overprotective and it caused problems for both you and Nishimura. I cannot guarantee that I will ever like him, but I know that I need to let you forgive him if you so choose to. It would be unfair to you and the work that you put into our relationship if I did otherwise.”
Deku looked up at Katsuki imploringly with his signature puppy dog eyes, and Katsuki would be hard pressed not to forgive him if he hadn’t partially done so already, “I accept your apology, you fucking nerd. Show me, okay?”
Izuku fucking melted at his words like the dumbass that he is, but the fact that his eyes lit up in determination proved to Katsuki that Izuku had understood his last question: Show me that your apology wasn’t empty. Deku’s peppy smile was infectious. Katsuki found himself grinning as Izuku lifted the hand that he had yet to let go of and planted an affectionate kiss on it, murmuring a simple, “I love you, Katsuki,” into the skin.
Katsuki pulled Izuku’s head down to kiss his cheek and whisper a reciprocating, “I love you, Izuku” in his ear. Then he turned back to Beach Day, who had a blush high on his cheeks from witnessing the affectionate touches his upperclassmen gave each other. Katsuki smirked, “Are you still up for a short spar, or should we postpone?”
.
.
.
Katsuki-senpai’s words pulled Yousuke out of his stupor, “Ah! I would love to spar—but…my class is having a movie night tonight…is it okay if we—”
“What-the-fuck-ever,” was Katsuki-senpai’s response. “Get outta here and spend time with your extras—actually, wait a minute” Katsuki-senpai turned to Midoriya-senpai, “Give me a page from one of your shitty notebooks.”
Midoriya-senpai smiled fondly while he dug a notebook out of his bag and handed it to Katsuki-senpai. Yousuke thought that a fond smile looked much more natural than the fake smiles he’d been getting over the past few weeks, which made more of his lingering apprehension from being near Midoriya-senpai dissipate.
.
.
.
Izuku watched as Kacchan chuckled before scribbling down his number and a short note, neatly tearing the page out of the notebook and handing the page to Nishimura. “Text me when you wanna spar, no promises that I’ll have time every fucking time you ask, but I wanna see this light manipulation quirk that Deku apparently knows you have. Now, get outta here, Beach Day.”
Izuku feels a little sheepish at Katsuki’s amused look, but the smile on the blonde’s face and the little chuckle that had left his lips made it worth it. Nishimura-kun hightailed excitedly out the door of the training room before Izuku decided to defend himself, “I speak with Aizawa-sensei whenever I go to see Eri-chan,” Katsuki’s pointed look prompts him to continue, so he embarrassingly adds, “...and Nezu gave me access to the student quirk records when I asked to analyze the younger hero and general classes.
“Fucking Deku,” Kacchan laughs. The sound is rough and harsh, intermixed with snorts and gasps in a way that other people might find ugly, but it’s probably Izuku’s favorite sound. Thus Izuku moved to wrap his lovely, gorgeous boyfriend in a hug so he could be closer to the joy that Katsuki was exuding.
.
.
.
Katsuki’s laughs died down as Deku pressed their foreheads together. He blushed at the close proximity, but he said nothing as Izuku connected their lips. They spent a blissful few moments trading kisses before Katsuki’s stomach betrayed him with a growl.
Katsuki growled back which made Deku laugh and pull away slightly, leaving his arms wrapped around Katsuki’s waist but breaking the veil between them and the world that they created with their brief makeout.
“How about I make you dinner, Kacchan? What sounds good?”
Katsuki leaned forward and wrapped his arms around Izuku’s neck. “What sounds good,” he started lowly, his face sitting a breath away from Deku’s, “Is you carrying me to the kitchen so we can make dinner together, you big dummy.” Katsuki smirked at the light blush sitting high on Deku’s cheeks and he waited a beat before adding, “And maybe one more kiss before we go.”
Izuku smiled and obliged him.

Reckless Good (2/?)
Fandom: Boku no Hero Academia/My Hero Academia
Fic Rating: Explicit
Chapter Rating: Teen+
Pairing: Todoroki Shouto/Midoriya Izuku
Note: Part of the @tododekubigbang for 2021! I’m super excited to share this AU with everyone. And please check out the awesome compaion art from @cryptidcatgod for chapter six!
Todoroki Shouto had accepted his fate as a public figure when he became a pro-hero, but there are some parts of his private life he would like to stay private. When he gets invited to be a speaker in a college lecture series, he goes to the meeting with one goal: to give the coordinator a piece of his mind and finally put an end to people hounding him for information about his family.
The last thing he expects is the curious, and quirkless, hero- and quirk-study professor, Midoriya Izuku, who has no interest in his family’s history, and, somehow, even more ties to the hero industry than Shouto. Intrigued by the professor, Shouto tentatively agrees to the lecture series, unknowingly intertwining their futures.
But the more Todoroki sees of Midoriya, the more questions he has. When a villain attack leaves them living together until the culprits are apprehended, maybe he’ll finally get some answers.
AO3: (x) Chapter One: (X)
“You agreed?” Kyouka all but shouts into the phone. Despite her over-the-top reaction, Shouto’s still not sure who is more surprised out of the two of them.
“I didn’t exactly agree. I just didn’t…say no.” Even as he says it, Shouto is aware that from him that is basically an agreement. God what was he getting himself into?
Kyouka is talking rapidly but he’s not entirely sure that she’s talking to him. The range of emotions she seems to be going through is impressive, though. Finally, she takes a deep breath and asks, “You’re going to talk about your family?”
Shouto sinks to the ground outside the building and leans against a tree. He hasn’t put back any of his “protective” civilian clothing and there’s a good chance of him being seen by more students, but he doesn’t have the energy to move again just yet.
“He didn’t ask me to talk about my family,” he finally admits. It’s stupid, he doesn’t even care about this kind of thing, but it wasn’t until he said it out loud that he realized how relieved he is that someone wants to talk about something – anything - other than that. “He wants me to talk about my quirk.”
They sit in silence together for a few moments. Shouto can hear the muffled sound of Momo talking to Kyouka in the background, likely asking what the hell was going on. Kyouka doesn’t seem to know what to say about this revelation, or the breathless way Shouto is talking about it, so she settles with, “So I guess he’s not a fame-hungry douchebag?”
The idea of Kyouka calling the bright-eyed, bushy-tailed professor that almost makes Shouto smile – almost. “No, I don’t think he is.”
“Huh,” Kyouka sounds almost as surprised as he is. “So, this is good, right? That you agreed?”
“Uh, I’ll let you know when I figure that out.”
Kyouka snorts, but at least she sounds more like herself and not as off-kilter as he still feels. “Think you’ll know by Friday? Momo wants you to come over for dinner.”
Shouto shakes his head. “I doubt it but, sure. Thanks.”
“Good luck, Todoroki.”
They end the call with promises to try to talk down Momo from the interrogation she’s probably already planning (from Kyouka) and the chocolate cake from Sato’s bakery for dessert on Friday (from Shouto).
X
Shouto wouldn’t say he was waiting for the professor’s email, but after the third comment on his surprisingly frequent use of the phone, he forces himself to push the meeting from the previous day from his mind and focus on work. He and Momo started their agency in Musutafu together a few years ago, and as the only senior-hero in the office for the night, he needed to set a good example. Especially when Monarch, a sidekick who had followed him when he left Gang Orca’s agency to start on his own, was in the office too, and had no qualms about tattling on his weird behavior to Momo.
At least the others were still a little too intimidated to cross him, though he had a feeling he could only rely on that hero-worship for a little while longer. There were only so many times you could watch someone put their hero-suit on backwards or accidentally salt their coffee before you stopped fearing standing up to them.
Most of the night is rather easy after pushing the email from his mind. Patrols are pretty much standard. The lack of activity means most everyone who was in for the night could relax, or make a good dent in any paperwork or reports piling up after busier days.
Until the alert for a villain attack comes in.
Shouto rushes out at the first alert, accompanied by one of their newest sidekicks, Sunspot, but by the time they reach the site of the attack, the radio is a flurry of activity, and his pager from the agency beeped with at least three more alerts.
Downtown is a disaster area. The evening traffic is backed up for miles, and cars in the few blocks closest to the fight have all been abandoned. At least one building is already rubble, and two more look on the brink of falling.
“This is Entropy, where-” before Shouto can finish his offer of help, he recognizes Chargebolt’s voice cutting through the chatter.
One of the villains is headed towards the Rainbow bridge! he yells over the radio. He has a hostage!
Shouto takes off towards the bridge before he has even finished speaking, throwing an order for Sunspot to rendezvous with the paramedics gathering on the fringes to help with the injured as he leaves.
“What’s the quirk?” He asks, aware even as he does that he might have to go into the fight blind.
There are three! What are you talking about? Someone he doesn’t recognize snaps over the line.
Entropy, thank God, Ingenium’s voice drowns out the cursing. It’s hard to isolate them, they’ve been working in tandem but the one headed towards the bridge seems to be able to melt things – organic and inorganic material both. Be careful.
The bridge comes into view, and there is the fleeing villain, zipping unencumbered through the streets on what almost looks like lava, bubbling and expanding under their feet.
Shouto throws up a wall of ice a few feet away. It won’t stop them, especially if it is lava under them, but it could slow them down at least for a moment. He doesn’t see the hostage Chargebolt had mentioned until he gets closer. It is a terrified looking child, bundled against the villain’s chest, wrapped in some kind of bindings that keep it from fighting the hold or screaming for help. The bindings look sickeningly like Aizawa-sensei’s old capture weapon and if it is even a little similar, Shouto knew there was no way the child would be able to get out on their own.
“Stop!” Shouto calls, throwing up more ice. He blocks the villain in on all sides, but the bottom of the ice is already beginning to melt before he has all the walls up.
The villain finally looks up to where Shouto stands on the top of one of his melting blocks of ice. Their face is covered by a traditional kabuki mask, and when they laugh the familiar robotic sound tells him they are using a voice modulator.
“Entropy! This ice won’t hold me forever!”
It doesn’t have to be forever, Shouto thinks, reinforcing the bottom of the ice, just long enough for backup to arrive. Normally he could encase the villain in ice, limit their movements just in case and, if he was lucky, cool them off enough that they couldn’t melt it fast enough – assuming their quirk was even heat based – but he doesn’t have enough information now, and there is too much of a risk with the child hostage involved. He hates fights like this. He’d never been good at trying to negotiate with villains, and there was too much risk for his usual long-range fighting style.
He has an idea, but it is a risk. It is a dumb risk. And he prays if he dies down there Momo isn’t actually powerful enough to somehow revive him just to kill him again for his stupidity. But he jumps off the ice, landing a few feet from the villain. He sinks a few inches into the goop surrounding them. It helps absorb some of the shock of his landing, but already he can feel the oppressive heat rising from the ground. His boots are steaming a little, but so far, the heat protected material is holding up. Hopefully it will be enough.
The closer he gets to the villain the hotter the air becomes, and he can feel his right side trying to help regulate his body temperature.
“Give me the child,” He demands. “They shouldn’t be a part of this.”
The villain laughs again, but their voice comes out more muffled and sluggish than before. He has a feeling whatever support equipment they were using hadn’t been designed to withstand this kind of heat for so long.
“That’s what you don’t understand, hero. They are the reason for this!”
Shouto tries to look reassuring as the small child stares pleadingly at him, muffled cries coming from behind their bindings, though he isn’t sure if he is successful.
“What are you talking about?”
“They’re the key!” The villain yells, squeezing the child closer to their body, and Shouto hates to see the way they squirm uncomfortably. “A hero like you with a perfect quirk could never understand! Though I suppose, even you aren’t invincible, are you?” The villain swipes at their mask with their free hand, leaving a dark, sooty handprint over the left eye-slit of their mask. “How much heat can you really withstand?”
Shouto ducks out of the way just as the villain sends up a wave of melted material where he had been standing seconds before. The ice wall behind him sizzles at the contact, melting away a perfect person-sized opening.
Shouto holds up a hand, ready to throw up more ice before the villain can break through the weakened wall, when from the other side Ingenium and Mr. Smith burst through. Shouto propels himself upwards with ice, grabbing Ingenium at the last moment as Mr. Smith hardens the melted material around them, trapping the villain’s feet in the stiffened rock. Shouto drops them both back down and Ingenium shoots off towards the villain. Ingenium throws a punch, and hand-to-hand combat might not be his strongest selling point as a hero, but the villain is already at a disadvantage trying to hold onto the child. At least with the confirmation that they had kidnapped them intentionally, rather than just as leverage or protection, it meant they were less likely to do something that would hurt the child.
The rock around the villain’s feet is already beginning to melt again, but Shouto wraps ice around their legs, keeping them immobile enough for Mr. Smith to catch up, stiffening the villain’s shirt as they lift an arm to defend against Ingenium. They wave their hand uselessly, unable to move their arms much more in the cast around them. Shouto reaches for the child, carefully wiggling them out from the villain’s trapped arm. They catch his arm as he extracts the child, however, and his shout of pain is drowned out only by the villain’s own anguished scream.
“This isn’t over,” they promise. And then their entire body begins to melt. The three heroes reach for them, but Mr. Smith and Ingenium’s gloves catch on fire before they even make contact with the melting body. Shouto’s ice is absorbed into the goopy mess and in a few seconds, it was as if the villain had never been standing there at all.
“Shit,” Mr. Smith swears. He glances over at the child in Shouto’s arms and winces. “Sorry.”
Shouto nods to him, agreeing with the sentiment regardless, before taking a few steps away. He cradles the child close to his chest, wishing she didn’t feel so small, wishing there was something he could do about the way she trembled.
“You’re going to be okay,” he says softly, shifting her in his arms. He tests the bindings around her torso, but they don’t give. “You’re safe, and we’re going to get you out of this.”
“I can help.”
Shouto looks up at the new voice. A hero, presumably, stands before him, but he doesn’t recognize the newcomer. Their face is covered by a dark helmet, tinted glass hiding even their eyes. Their costume is a simple dark green bodysuit, but a tool belt at their waist boasts a truly impressive number of gadgets.
Shouto holds the girl closer to his body and looks the other person over. The other hero seems to understand his hesitance and reaches for something in their tool belt. Shouto shifts his weight, prepared to run if this interaction turns sour.
“Architect!” Ingenium calls, running up besides them. “I didn’t realize you were working.”
The stranger, Architect apparently, nods a greeting to Ingenium. “I was at the hospital checking on something when the attacks started so I came out to see if I could help.” He turns back to Shouto. “I was just about to introduce myself to Entropy so I could help with the bindings.”
“Architect is part of the support team at All Might-er, Lemillion’s agency,” Ingenium explains to Shouto. “He’s a friend.”
Architect produces a small pair of scissors from his tool belt. The blades are jagged and look dangerous, but he handles them carefully, finding a space away from any exposed skin.
“This will be a little uncomfortable,” he tells the young girl in a gentle voice. “But it will be over in a flash.”
The scissors don’t seem to actually cut through the bindings, but the jagged blades get caught in the rough fabric, pulling at it tightly as he moves them. The girl twists in Shouto’s arm with a quiet whimper, but a moment later the bindings seize and then loosen, dropping harmlessly from her body.
Shouto lowers her to the ground carefully and Architect crouches to be at eye-level with her.
“How are you feeling, Kou? Are you hurt anywhere?”
The girl shakes her head, staring at Architect with wide eyes. “How do you know my name?” she whispers, awed. Shouto would like to know that too, but Ingenium doesn’t seem at all surprised by the development, so he wills himself to let it go for now.
Architect tilts his head, and though he can’t see, Shouto suspects he’s looking at him. “Entropy told me,” he lies cheerfully. “He knows the name of all his fans.”
Kou whips around to stare at Shouto. “Really?”
“Ah…yes?”
“Wow.”
Architect and Ingenium both seem amused by the child’s awe. “I bet if you’re good and go with the heroes to get checked over by the doctors, Entropy might even give you an autograph for being so brave.”
Kou’s face scrunches up in displeasure, and Shouto doesn’t really blame her, but a moment later she reluctantly agrees. Architect stands up, waving to someone through the melting ice and a few more heroes come through, accompanied by two paramedics carrying a stretcher.
A moment later two detectives come through the ice as well, and Shouto is pulled into giving a report of what happened while he was alone with the villain and if he noticed anything distinctive about the villain’s appearance or quirk that could help track them down. When he’s finally done going over everything, Kou, the paramedics, and Architect are gone. Ingenium and Mr. Smith head back to where the fight began but Shouto stays behind to melt down what’s left of his ice first with a few other heroes with heat-based quirks, including Sunspot.
Once that’s taken care of, they head back. Sunspot gives him a rundown of the intel she gathered working closer to the main fight. One of the villains was mostly contained when the other two spilt up, the one with the child presumably looking for an escape while the other went deeper into town, ricocheting off buildings and bridges with some kind of body-hardening quirk that kept heroes preoccupied trying to minimalize damage and protect civilians from toppling structures. They have since been contained, however. From the discussion on the radios, rescue and clean-up teams have already started to move in.
Near where they first joined the fight, there is a circle of ambulances, back doors flung open while paramedics check on civilians and heroes alike. Shouto scans the area for Kou. He finally sees her perched in the back of an ambulance, talking animatedly with someone crouched on the ground in front of her. She sees him as he’s making his way over and waves excitedly. There are red marks crisscrossing her arms from where the bindings were too tight and tear tracts on her rosy cheeks, but she doesn’t seem so bothered by either any more. Shouto waves back.
The person in front of Kou stands as Shouto approaches and turns to him with a smile.
“Entropy,” Dr. Midoriya says in greeting. “Kou was just telling me all about your daring rescue.”
“Dr. Midoriya…” Shouto doesn’t stumble as he comes to a stop near them, but it’s a near thing. He leans against one of the open ambulance doors in (faked) nonchalance. “I didn’t realize you would be here.”
Kou reaches out and tugs on Dr. Midoriya’s sleeve. “See!” She exclaims in a barely contained whisper to the professor. “I told you he’d know who you were! The other hero said he knows the names of all his fans!”
Shouto is pleasantly surprised at the bright blush that comes over the professor’s face at Kou’s whispering. He runs a hand through his hair, riling up the wild curls at the top even more and glances quickly at Shouto out of the corner of his eye. He looks away just as quickly with a nervous laugh.
“Well now, Kou, weren’t you also telling me something about wanting an autograph?” Dr. Midoriya asks, changing the subject easily.
Kou sticks her tongue out at him, but turns to Shouto a moment later with a suddenly shy look. “Um…Entropy,” she starts, his hero name coming out a little muddled as she stumbles over the word.
Remembering Architect’s promise to her, Shouto starts to reach for the notepad he keeps in his tool belt before she can even finish her question but his arm bumps into the ambulance door. The contact immediately sends a searing pain through his arm. With a hiss, and just barely swallowed curse, he pulls his arm in close. Based on their gasps, Kou and Dr. Midoriya see the injury just before he does. Part of his uniform sleeve is melted. Gaping, burnt holes in the fabric reveal splotchy, disfigured skin underneath – a burn. Made all the worse by the deep blue fabric that melted into the open sore. Shouto faintly remembers the villain touching his arm just as he rescued Kou and a flash of sharp pain, but somehow he blocked it out afterwards, so focused on keeping her safe.
Now with the throbbing, searing pain at the forefront of his mind, the fact that he went this long without noticing it feels unreal.
“Sit down,” Dr. Midoriya orders suddenly, pushing Shouto to take a seat in the back of the ambulance next to Kou. “Adrenaline must have blocked the pain, but you’re going to go into shock if we don’t take care of this.”
Behind the pain, Shouto faintly registers the change in the professor’s voice as he orders Shouto around and calls for some first aid supplies to the nearby paramedics. It reminds him of the sudden way he changed in his office the other day, when Shouto mentioned his family. The cheerful, bemusing professor replaced by a no-nonsense professional.
Dr. Midoriya cuts away what’s left of his sleeve, examining the wound closely. All the while giving directions to the paramedics and talking Shouto through a shot of painkillers and the start of an IV. Shouto and Kou are ushered into the ambulance, Dr. Midoriya and another paramedic climbing in after them. In a moment they are on the move.
“The burn needs to be cleaned in a more sterile environment,” Dr. Midoriya says, though Shouto isn’t sure if he’s saying this for his benefit or Kou’s. Shouto is no stranger to the care of significant burns. Kou however is watching both of them with a nervous, teary-eyed expression from where she’s sat on the paramedic’s lap. “The painkillers should kick in soon, which will help. And the IV will help with dehydration.”
Dr. Midoriya pulls out his cell phone, still in a bright All Might case, immediately tapping away at something on the screen. “You were on the scene with a sidekick from your agency, right? Sunspot, the UV hero?”
Shouto blinks in surprise a few times before he remembers the professor’s notebooks. He nods. “How many pages of notes do you have on her?”
Dr. Midoriya gives him an incredulous look, but Shouto doesn’t know what the big deal is. With the heavy-duty pain killers they gave him, he really doesn’t know what the rush is, or the harm in a few questions.
“Just one. Well, one and a half.” Dr. Midoriya finally answers, going back to typing rapidly on his phone. “She’s still new, I haven’t had time to observe her fighting enough to gather more information.”
Shouto will one hundred percent blame it on the drugs later, but a laugh bubbles out of him despite everything at the professor’s petulant tone. “You are something else, Dr. Midoriya.” Shouto starts to sit up, but Dr. Midoriya stops him with a firm, but gentle, hand on his shoulder, pushing him back down. He gestures to himself instead, with his uninjured arm. “How did you even know how to do all this? I thought the doctor in your name was for a Ph.D., not M.D.”
The paramedic chuckles from the corner of the ambulance. “He didn’t mention? It’s both. His quirk research is not limited to just academia and theory.”
“What?”
“None of us have been able to figure out how he did it either, don’t worry.” The paramedic adds cheerfully.
Dr. Midoriya stumbles over his words for a few moments, carefully avoiding Shouto’s surprised look, before he settles on scolding the paramedic for “distracting the patient” and changes the subject.
Shouto lets it drop for now, exhaustion from the fight and the injury finally settling in, but one way or another before this damn “Hero Talks” series was over, he was getting some answers out of this professor.

Long Night in the Valley Chaper 3
“A mind affecting quirk?” asked the secretary. “Are you sure?”
“Positive,” said Recovery Girl, grimly. “If I had realized, I would never have left him alone while I reviewed the scans. I thought it was something physical. By the time we locked the campus down, he was already gone.”
The secretary found herself shaking, slightly. Even retired, even barely able to use his quirk, the idea of All Might under mind control, under a villain’s control, was terrifying.
“I’m going to put you through to the chairman,” she said, trying to keep the tremor out of her voice. “I’m sure he’ll mobilize every available resource.” She pressed the button and sagged in her chair glad she didn’t have to make real decisions.
Then the calls from the people in charge of the Musutafu mental-invasion training activity started rolling in. As she answered the phone, she couldn’t help but think that All Might probably would have benefited from the training.
.
Of all the things Tsuyu had expected to see while waiting to be directed to her room for testing, Midoriya fleeing from a group of heroes was not one of them.
True, Midoriya had yet to come out of a class trip or event without some kind of trauma, but she’d been expecting villains to be the cause. Not… whatever this was.
Kaminari and Aoyama, started forward, only to be held back by Shouji, who just barely managed to catch his phone (he’d been playing a Pokémon game with Kouda).
“Hey!” said Kaminari. “What gives, man? Midoriya is in trouble.”
“Yes,” said Shouji, quietly, the lips on his extra arm barely moving, “and look at who he’s in trouble with.”
“We can’t just go barreling in,” agreed Tsuyu. “We need to find the rest of the class and get out of here.”
After all, if one member of 1-A was in trouble, they all were.
Aoyama placed his pointer finger and his thumb over his chin. “I have a better idea,” he said, “what do you say to a ~*sparkling*~ distraction to help our friend—and us—escape?”
Tsuyu followed his gaze and swallowed a sigh.
People should really stop leaving electrical boxes out in the open like that. It was basically a signed invitation.
(Izuku did not notice the power outage that occurred a mere fraction of a second after he burst out of the center’s doors, but if he did, he would have been grateful for the chaos it caused and the precious time it bought him.)
.
“That’s the room they were in,” said Fumikage, Dark Shadow screening him and the rest of his group from view. “I believe that Hagakure was—” he hesitated “—there,” he said, finally.
“Are you sure we should go after them?” asked Mineta. “I mean, it’s Aizawa-sensei and the top of the class!”
“Since Midoriya is the only one who came out,” Yaoyorozu, coolly, “it’s probable that they’re either asleep or heavily outnumbered. Especially considering how out of character it is for Midoriya to leave them behind.”
“Unless he was targeted and was trying to draw them away,” said Satou.
They considered that silently for a moment.
“Bakugou’s group was in that room,” said Jirou, pointing with ear jack. “They’ll definitely be asleep by now. Not to back away from a fight, but if we really think our class is in danger, we should get them out first, of only because they’re probably not at the center of this.”
“Hmm,” said Tokoyami. “The fate of Bakugou, much like Midoriya, is often shouded in darkness.”
“I hate that you have a point,” groaned Jirou. “Yaomomo? You’re kind of in charge here. I think it’s your call.”
Yaoyorozu made a rather pained looking face.
“We need to find everyone who hasn’t gone into a room yet, and we need to gather information,” she said. “Maybe this is just a misunderstanding.”
Fumikage, for one, rather doubted it.
.
This Deku was different again. Older than the ones they had seen so far.
He was wearing the same clothes he’d had on when Shigaraki grabbed him at the mall, including that ridiculous ‘t-shirt’ t-shirt and the bright yellow backpack. Ochako swallowed uneasily and looked back at Suzuki.
Did Deku’s appearance reflect his understanding of the situation? Did he think that what was going on now was like what had happened then?
Was he right?
(A part of her, a part that was very used to Aizawa’s logical ruses, was still hoping this was part of the course.)
“We already have proof you’re the traitor,” wheezed Suzuki. Despite sustaining so many wounds, beyond being out of breath he was currently unharmed. Even his suit only had a few streaks of dirt on them.
“Deku’s not a traitor!” shouted Ochako. “He’s risked his life for so many of us, he’s hurt himself so much-! It’s ridiculous you could even think that.”
Alright. Perhaps the fight and general situation had Ochako more on edge than she’d thought.
Or, perhaps, she was just tired of this jerk badmouthing one of her best friends.
“I think,” said Aizawa, splitting his attention between Suzuki and the new Deku, “that anyone who actually knew Midoriya would tell you the same thing. Assuming you asked.”
“What are you really here for?” asked Deku. “Are you really working for the Commission?”
Suzuki wrinkled his nose momentarily, apparently affronted, but then started to laugh. “You think we didn’t? They came to us. Aldera Middle School ring any bells? Why don’t you tell your new friends you used to be—”
He cut off as Deku moved past them, smoothly dodging Aizawa-sensei, and performing a textbook-perfect takedown of Suzuki, complete with handcuffs and avoidance of Suzuki’s skin.
(What was Suzuki’s quirk, anyway?)
“Wish I could have done this back then,” muttered Deku, hauling Suzuki around. “What is your problem?”
“You can’t hurt me here,” said Suzuki. “Are you scared of the truth?”
Aizawa pulled Deku away from Suzuki.
“Midoriya,” he said. “You are Midoriya, right?”
“I…” Deku’s face scrunched up. “I think so? It—I think it’s more complicated than it should be.”
Ochako saw Suzuki get up before Aizawa did, and leaped forward, aiming for his face. She missed. Suzuki’s fingers brushed against Deku’s cheek and the world shredded around them.
.
Aizawa had known going into this that a dream world would be, almost by definition, illogical and annoying. He had simply underestimated how illogical and annoying.
Oh, the fight with maybe-Midoriya was straightforward enough, even factoring in his control of the environment. But the aftermath was another story.
Aizawa knew he’d been hit. He’d been hit, solidly, several times. Yet, he didn’t feel so much as bruised. He was also, for some unidentifiable reason, wearing a suit, and his students, except for Midoriya, who had disappeared yet again, had been put in unfamiliar school uniforms.
Speaking of which, they were now standing in front of a middle school, the beach nowhere in sight.
Adding that to the fact that at least some items (e.g., Midoriya’s handcuffs) seemed to disappear when no one was paying attention to them…
Aizawa’s headache was rapidly growing. Not to mention—
“He practically admitted he wasn’t Midoriya! What more do you want?” demanded Suzuki, who seemed to be ignoring the fact that he was being stared down by three hostile, combat-trained teenagers.
“I want,” said Aizawa, “to wait out the clock. Midoriya isn’t attacking us anymore, and I don’t particularly feel the need to snoop around in his head.”
Suzuki’s eye twitched. “Saito isn’t waking us up until the end of the course, a full six hours from now,” he said. “You want to have this stand-off for six hours, or do you want to find something that will help you protect the rest of your little gremlin students?”
“What do you mean, until the end of the course?” demanded Iida, adjusting his glasses. “She’s supposed to let us out in an hour!”
Aizawa sighed, but kept his gaze fixed on Suzuki. Iida could be a little too fixated on rules sometimes.
“So? No one will miss you until the lunch break, and that can be easily covered up!”
.
“We should call the school, too,” decided Momo. “I think Principal Nezu likes Midoriya.”
“Huh? Really?” asked Satou, surprised.
Momo nodded. “Whenever Midoriya is brought up at student council meetings, he sort of… chuckles. He does that with Aizawa-sensei, too, come to think of it. And All Might.”
“That’s terrifying,” said Mineta.
No one said anything, because they didn’t really want to agree with Mineta, even about something so mundane.
.
Sirens, from an ambulance called for Saito Yume, were just audible in the distance.
Somewhat farther away, the principal of UA realized that calling the Hero Commission about Yagi’s disappearance might have been a tactical error.
In the Hero Commission headquarters, the chairman determined that, no, this was not going to be covered up easily, and started making alternate plans.
.
“Then we’ll wait for the whole six hours,” said Aizawa. “Consider it endurance training,” he told his students, “for stakeouts and whatever.”
“And whatever?” asked Todoroki.
“If you have to deal with this nonsense now,” said Aizawa, “as students, it’s only going to get worse when you’re pros.”
“Ah,” said Todoroki, nodding sagely. “I see.”
“Look, if you’re all so sure he has nothing to hide, what’s the harm in looking?”
“Kids,” said Aizawa, cutting off whatever responses the three of them were about to snap out, “don’t engage him.” This was going to be a very long six hours. Or five hours. It had to have been at least one hour since they went under. Right? It had to be, if the universe was fair.
Oh, who was he kidding?
Suzuki sighed, closed his eyes, and straightened his tie. “I apologize,” he said. “The appearance of that… projection unsettled me, and I have not fully explained why the Hero Commission has decided to act as it has in the case of Midoriya Izuku.”
“Who cares?” asked Todoroki. “The commission sucks.”
Undeterred, Suzuki continued. “I’m sure you have all noticed that Midoriya Izuku displays two quirks.”
“So do I and Aizawa-sensei,” said Todoroki.
“I what?” asked Aizawa.
“Your floaty hair thing.”
“That’s just an emitter effect,” said Aizawa.
“But it works on your capture weapon,” said Todoroki. “Midoriya showed me a diagram, once. It was very convincing. He said not to bring it up though, because you were probably hiding it from… villains… oh…” He trailed off as he looked back at Suzuki.
This was not, Aizawa reminded himself sternly, the time to have an existential crisis.
He was having a talk with Midoriya when he got out of this.
“A secondary quirk that he only discovered in high school? You must see how far fetched this is. Not to mention his first quirk only—”
The ground rumbled. Abruptly, they were surrounded by bright, approximately human-shaped blurs of color. Because why not?
Among those blurs of color ran tiny middle school Midoriya, because, again, why not?
Using the distraction, and something that had to be related to either a quirk or Suzuki’s greater experience with Saito’s quirk, Suzuki escaped their little circle and ran after Midoriya. Aizawa’s students and, thus, Aizawa followed.
.
“Come again?” asked Vlad King, rubbing the inside of his ear. “I think I must have misheard you.”
“Yagi stole your car,” repeated Powerloader, sounding completely done with the world.
Vlad, still uncomprehending, blinked up at his coworker. “Is there, like, a student called Yagi?” he asked, trying to process the diametrically opposed concepts of ‘Yagi’ and ‘stole’ before even getting started on the ‘your car’ part of the sentence.
“No.”
With despair, his mind finally registering that the Symbol of Peace had stolen his car, Vlad said, “But he doesn’t even drive!”
.
Vlad King’s car was, objectively, rather terrible. It was an antique, almost a hundred and fifty years old, manufactured when regulations were loose in the wake of the dawn of quirks. It was loud. It was ugly. The gas efficiency wasn’t terrible, but it came at the cost of high emissions. The air conditioner was broken. It had no back up camera.
It had three things going for it. One, it had a functional safety system. Two, the ceiling was high enough for Toshinori to fit. Three, it had no GPS or tracking system attached to it.
True, the vehicle’s other features meant that the car would be remembered and tracked sooner or later, but the point of this exercise was to get to Izuku as quickly as possible and then away from his pursuers as quickly as possible. They’d leave the car somewhere after that. Perhaps with the keys still in it. Perhaps somewhere disreputable.
… That would be rather mean to Vlad.
Eh, thought someone who may or may not have been Toshinori. They were doing him a favor, honestly.
(It was a good thing Six knew how to drive. Seven and Five with their fancy mobility-oriented quirks were useless. Don’t even get him started on Mr. ‘I’m going to live in the woods and isolate myself from society’ and Ms. ‘driving laws can’t have changed that much in a hundred and fifty years.’ Unbelievable.)
Toshinori stopped the car. The back door opened and Izuku slid in. He shut the door and Toshinori started driving again.
They didn’t speak to one another because they didn’t have to. Izuku started undressing, pulling on the clothes Toshinori had picked up for him quickly. Hero merchandise, mostly. Bright but anonymous. Few would expect fugitives to wear something like this.
“It’s soft,” said Izuku, quietly, rubbing the edge of the hoody between his fingers.
“I’m glad you like it,” said Toshinori. In the rearview mirror, Toshinori could see Blackwhip twine around his hands and wrists protectively. His headache let up, slightly.
They’d hide until the quirk wore off, and then they could determine their next steps.
.
The commission president smiled at the heroes he had assembled. It was a nice smile, an expressive smile, one he had worked on for a long time. Right now, it said that he regretted the circumstances that brought them together, but that their presence cheered him, nonetheless. It said that he was putting on a brave front while delivering grim news.
It had the desired effect. The heroes leaned forward, with the exception of Hawks. (Damn that truculent child. Perhaps he was due for some retraining.)
“I regret to inform you all that former number one hero All Might, also known as Yagi Toshinori, has been abducted by the traitor Midoriya Izuku through the use of a mental quirk we believe he obtained from the villain All for One, publicly known as the Scourge of Kamino.”
.
Toshinori and Izuku had spoken to one another concerning hiding places and rendezvous points on several occasions. It was a necessity when engaged in a shadow war with a two-hundred-year-old monster and continued to be so even after the war had come into the light.
Toshinori currently owned most of them, through various serpentine paths, shell corporations, and semi-fictitious holding companies. One could potentially, in theory, with great effort, reach Toshinori if one started with one of the hiding places and follow the horribly convoluted paper trail, but it was infinitely more difficult to start with Toshinori and arrive at one of the safe houses. Mainly because Toshinori had so many completely legitimate holdings.
Some of these places were older than they were, inherited, much like their quirk. And the very oldest of these technically wasn’t ‘owned’ by anyone at all. It didn’t exist on paper. It had been made by an unregistered quirk during the dawn of quirks, when the government was in shambles. Only two living people knew about it now. Even All for One had never found the place.
“We’ll be safe here,” said Toshinori, unnecessarily, as he opened the door. The hinges were silent. Toshinori had oiled them the last time he had restocked the pantry.
Izuku nodded, then yawned. Everything about today had been exhausting, and his brain still wasn’t working right.
But was it really okay for him to sleep, to rest, when he had left his friends behind?
Why had he even done that?
Could he even call himself a friend when-?
Toshinori put his hand on Izuku’s shoulder, and Izuku felt his concern soak into his bones. The others were with him. Uraraka, Todoroki, Iida, and Aizawa were not in danger, they reminded him. Izuku (Nine) was. The others were in good standing with the commission, more or less, and would likely remain so. For all Suzuki’s posturing, it appeared he had no real evidence against Izuku’s friends, otherwise he would have used it for blackmail by now.
Besides, Izuku wasn’t really the one to make the decision to run.
Izuku frowned. Was he? Wasn’t he?
There was a bed in the little hidden house. Toshinori pulled a set of sheets out of a small cabinet and began to make it. Izuku retrieved and fluffed the pillows. It was interesting. He’d never actually been here before. Toshinori had only told him how to get here, and yet…
But the others had been here. One and Two, mostly, but Three had come a few times, and Four had gotten a lot of use out of it before he left the city entirely. Five hadn’t really needed it—he’d been a pro hero, after all—but he’d kept the place up, just in case, and passed it on to Six when it was time. Six had been underground and had kept this place his ace in the hole, his last fallback. Seven had learned of it from his notes since he hadn’t lived long enough to tell her properly. So much had been lost…
Izuku shook his head and focused on the bed. Wordlessly, he was coaxed into it. It would be better to sleep, for now. His attention wouldn’t be divided, and Toshinori would keep him safe.
.
“Trace,” said the commission president, looking at the second-youngest hero present. The woman was just a little bit older than Hawks. “With your quirk, I think you know why we called you in.”
The woman, who usually worked as a rescue hero, nodded enthusiastically. “Yes, sir,” she said. “I’ll need something of either Midoriya’s or All Might’s, and their last known location. We’ll be able to rescue All Might in no time!”

❝r.i.p to the youth❞ // e. kirishima
SYNOPSIS: ➛ The world has gone to shit and you have lost almost everyone close to you, including Kirishima
» CHARACTER PAIRING: eijiro kirishima x reader
» WORD COUNT: 5.6K cause i have no chill again
» GENRE: apocalyptic au, aged up characters
» WARNINGS: major character death, ANGST with fluff ending, blood, swearing
« masterlist || ao3 »
You were only seventeen when the world had gone to shit. You had been studying with your friends at U.A when you watched the news roll in, villains had popped up everywhere in a large scale attack. After that day, the world had never been the same. Led by Tomura Shigaraki, the league of villains now held hostage the world, ruling it in the very way they knew how. Now labelled The Purge, many of the top heroes were wiped out in the first few months, and more as it followed.
Now today, five years later, you are still trying to survive through an apocalyptic world, where ones who were only students when it started, are now leaders of rebellion… the only force to attempt to rise up against the villain dictatorship. The Rebellion Army was created by pro heroes once the fighting began, however as the years passed, there were newly inducted commanders in charge more frequently than there ever should be. You are one of them. Along with your previous schoolmates and close friends, Izuku, Shouto, Bakugou, Iida, and Momo, somehow you had all become the leaders of the rebellion army. All the previous pro heroes either having been killed or forced into solitude for their safety and the safety of the rebellion. Together, your spread out force had managed to locate some of the existing pro’s, however, they opted to be the voice of reason and advice, and decided to leave the leadership to a bunch of twenty-year-olds. You were inducted as a commander just over two years ago due to the strength of your quirk, your incredible strategic skills, and your ability to be stealthy was far greater than anyone else. You had earned that rank in a time where you didn’t want it. All you wanted was for this all to end.
Looking down at the picture in your hands, you wish you could turn back time and transport back to it. It had been a few months before The Purge began, where the only concern you had was if you were going to pass your final exams, your work-study, and your boyfriend. Not the fate of the world, or at least not until you were a pro.
In the faded image, you were shielding your eyes from the sun but had a bright grin on your face. Your thighs were draped over a shirtless male torso that had your heart hurting inside your chest. He had a carefree, teeth-bared grin on his face, his eyes squinted shut in the sunlight, as he held onto your legs to support you. He looked so happy that day, in fact, you all were. You and your class had gone to a water-park, as a time to relax and just have chaotic levels of fun. It was one of your last good memories before it all fell apart. And now, this picture with your boyfriend was your greatest treasure.
Because two years ago, villains had discovered your previous location and attacked out of the blue. It had been pure chaos and a mad scramble to evacuate and get away with as few casualties as possible. It was one of the worst days of your life. Because that day, you had been separated from your boyfriend and once the dust had settled, he was gone. You had searched for days, not eating or sleeping. The only thing on your mind was finding Eijiro Kirishima, if it was the last thing you did. You were only forced to stop when Bakugou pulled you away, kicking and screaming. Everyone had said he was dead, and that you needed to accept it, but Bakugou just reiterated the same line over and over.
‘Shitty hair wouldn’t fucking die like that. We’ll find him y/n.” yet here you were, two years down the line, with still no sign of him. So like everyone else, you had accepted the fact that he was no longer going to be around, and when you found yourself deep within a pit of depression, it was your friends who pulled you from it, helping you take a step every day. You weren’t over it, and you knew you wouldn’t ever be. For that red-head who was sunshine personified was the love of your life, and he always would be.
A knock comes from your closed door, and hesitantly, you shift your gaze from the photo in your hands to the figure now poking their head through the partially cracked doorway. Momo’s kind smile meets you, and when she sees the tattered picture in your hands, it morphs into something soft but laced with pain. You aren’t the only one who is hurting from his passing, it has affected your friends and comrades too. There was too much death these days, too much for people to bear.
“It was a very fun day.” She says, walking over to where you sit on your bed, before sitting next to you. It had been one of your best memories with Kirishima, yes, but also with your other friends. Some who weren’t around now…
“And so different to life now.” You reply, pushing the picture back under your pillow before you turn to your friend and fellow leading commander. “What’s going on?” There had to be something for her to come and get you during your break.
“Shouto wants to move the stealth operation to today. He says he’s got a bad feeling about tomorrow.” You’re not surprised by the idea, so you just nod, not questioning your friends’ instincts for a second. Being in charge of such a large operation, all six of your close friends have learnt the inner workings of each other's minds. And when someone has a gut feeling, a hunch, you follow it, because nine times out of ten, it’s right. And in a world ruled by villains, being wrong means death, and that’s something you don’t want to see happen ever again. “We want you to lead it.” Of course.
The argument sits heavy on your tongue, but something inside you like always can’t seem to let it out. Maybe it was the guilt, or the fear of not being there to stop something bad from happening again. Because not long after you had lost Kirishima, you had lost your mentor, your work-study agency leader, your friend, in a stealth mission gone wrong. You had almost died that day, unable to save your mentor. Instead, Keigo Takami had saved you, and you weren’t going to let his sacrifice go to waste. You were going to protect every single one of your friends, even if it meant you died in the process.
“Alright.” Together, you both stand and begin the walk to the meeting room. The second you walk in, your eyes meet your four commanding friends, as well as three others. You smile at Jiro, Sero and Shoji before sitting down at a vacant seat. “What’s the plan?” You ask the quiet room, listening as Momo points towards a map of the city in the centre of the table, explaining the plan.
“Jiro’s ear jacks are going to eavesdrop on anything audible inside the warehouse. Shoji and Sero, you are on lookout, and Y/n, you are on escape routes.” Everyone in the stealth team had quirks that allowed them to do their job quickly and efficiently… but you were just there as back up, as a walking bomb ready to go off if something detrimental should occur.
You’d lost half of your quirk the day you had almost died, and witnessed your mentor sacrifice himself for you. Those flames, ones you can manipulate yourself- but failed to, burnt your wings until the weight that had rested between your shoulder blades your whole life, was gone. Now, you could manipulate fire, but hadn’t used it in almost a year, instead, focusing on hand to hand combat. After that day, you could barely glance at flames without either making yourself sick, or having flashbacks powerful enough that they seemed as if you were actually trapped back in the past. The sensation… the scent… the burning… the screaming.
“Live, little firebird. Save us all.”
Squeezing your eyes shut, you let out a sigh before standing to your feet. Everyone in the room looks in your direction, and you look at Bakugou, one of your closest friends and look into his eyes, trying to ignore the nagging thought that they look similar to Kirishima’s.
“We leave at 22:00.” Momo nods to you across the table and you look to your friends who are risking their lives alongside you. “Let’s get some dirt on these assholes.”
҉ ҉ ҉ ҉
“We don’t get closer than ten metres to any entrance or exits of the building.” You whisper, using your very very little air manipulation to help your words travel to your friend’s ears. You see all three of them nod in response as you creep down the abandoned alleyway. The world is so quiet, the only noise was the slight breeze and trash being moved across the street from it. Everything about this area was abandoned and for good reason. You had discovered through one of the rebellion’s many spaced out informants, that they had seen S class league members frequently visiting this warehouse. This mission wasn’t to take more than two hours, that’s what Bakugou had drilled into your brain.
“Don’t be fucking late because I’m not coming to look for your dumb ass.” You weren’t a moron, which is what you had responded with and you could have sworn the blonde wanted to punch you in the face. It was the usual really, the urge and not the actual physical blow - that never happened. However, you knew that if your team didn’t show up, the blonde would come looking for you and not stopping until he dragged you all back and then tried to kill you himself for being stupid.
Normally, other than villain activity, it is quiet in this part of town. The previous residents having abandoned their homes the second the league of villains moved in. So you are surprised when Shoji gestured to you only thirty minutes in.
‘Figure. 2 blocks.’ He gestured with his hands, not risking to speak so close to the building. Sure you are on the second floor of the building next door, but with Jiro’s quirk in use, you aren’t going to distract her either.
‘Villain?’ You question, using both your hands to communicate the thought back. Shoji shakes his head and instead waves you over to his position. Silently, you manoeuvring until you are next to him, looking out the broken out window at where he is pointing - straight towards a figure staring at the building you’re currently listening on. The person is completely decked out in all black, and you definitely different recognise them, not that you could make out much of their figure other than the fact they were tall and bulk, probably male. If he were a villain, surely he could have just walked towards the building instead of peering at it like a predator watching its prey.
In silence, Shoji and you watch as the figure moves towards the building, carefully using the shadows to hide their body as they slip between alleyways and across the street. Okay, so not a villain… Suddenly the figure disappears behind an alleyway and you look at Shoji with a frown. What the hell was someone that wasn’t a part of the rebellion doing here?
From what you were aware, you were the only current branch within this area, the rebellion spreading wide across both Japan and the world, all under different titles and names, however, you were the leading force in this city, and possibly Japan. You would know if there was another organisation within the city limits. So who the hell was that?
Jiro taps the floor twice and your eyes look to Sero, holding his binoculars, directed straight at the warehouse. They were wrapping up. You tap your wrist to signify that you were to head out in one minute, when a gasp suddenly breaks the silence. Oxygen leaves your lungs as Shoiji tackles you to the floor. Wheezing, you don’t question in when heat engulfs the world outside the window. Your ribs scream in pain from the impact, but over your friend’s shoulder, you see the bright blue flames lick across the ceiling through the open window. Blue flames.
Your screams bounce across the concrete walls of what once had been an office building but was now nothing but rubble. Blue flames lick over your shoulder blades and neck. Your spine, engulfed in a pain you never thought possible, but what has you screaming is the image in front of you. You look up into Dabi’s smirking face, his blue flames swirling around his scarred fist. “This is the end of the line for you gorgeous.” He raises his hands in front of your face and for a second you close your eyes, praying for it all to be over. But then there’s a thump, and you watch in horror as Hawk’s - beaten to a pulp, lands in front of you, his scarlet red wings spread out behind him shielding you from the blue flames.
“Live, little firebird. Save us all.”
The last of his feathers grip your clothes, and you slam out of the rubble, dragging you across town as fast as they can. You cry out and beg to stop as one by one, they fall to the ground, losing their power, until you lay on the sidewalk outside the warehouse on your stomach, trying not to scream. You knew your wings were gone, the heavyweight you had held up your entire life wasn’t there. Only pain, god so much pain, you wanted to die. You had only passed out after you’d heard people mumbling above you, and at that point, you hadn’t cared if it were villains… you just wanted it to end.
Those blue flames… They had brought down your old compound that day, and you had been flying people out of the burning building when you had bumped into Kirishima, about to sprint into battle to join Bakugou and Shouto. You had wanted to beg him to stop, to just get out of the building, but that’s not who you were, and it definitely wasn’t who he was.
“Don’t worry angel, I’ll be back. Get everyone out and I’ll meet you at the safe-point soon.” Kirishima says, kissing you on the forehead before racing out. You hadn’t even had time to tell him you loved him like usual, before moving to pull more people from the wreckage and transporting them. And that was something you would never forgive yourself for. You let Kirishima run into that burning building.
Once you had gotten the last people out, there was a loud crunch, followed by a boom. You and Sero turn around, only to see the roof of the warehouse begin to collapse. Figures flee from the fire, and one is heading towards you at an alarmingly fast rate. The second they reach your position, you do a headcount, tracing peoples faces until you realise there are only four of them. There should be five. Whipping your head back and forth, you quickly spin around, scanning everyone here for that head of red hair...but he’s not there. Where is Kirishima? Where the hell is your boyfriend?
You then look to the very singed and exhausted as-blonde before you. “Where is Eijiro?” Bakugou frowns at you, before looking around, his movements getting more frantic with every passing second.
“He was right there…” You hear hum mutter, only for another loud bang to come from the old warehouse.
No, god please no...The situation finally hits you, and you jump to action, your wings propelling you forward towards the burning building. You hold out your hands and try to smother the flames with your quirk, but theres too much, and its burning through the building to quickly.
Your only a few feet from the inferno when you’re tackled to the ground. You try desperately and wildly to shake the weight off, but soot covered hands have pinned your wings so you can’t move.
“Get off me! HE’S STILL IN THERE! I NEED TO GET HIM OUT! KIRISHIMA!”
“And die yourself in the process? There’s nothing you can do Y/n.” Bakugou’s voice is in your ear, and you scream out in frustration. The noise is so loud, coming from a place deep inside you that it hurts your vocal chords when it comes out. There's another crunch, and you watch helplessly as the roof completely collapses, finally succumbing to the flames, and the second it falls, part of you dies with it.
“EIJIRO!” You scream again, trying to shake the blonde off you.
“I’m so sorry Y/n.”
“No, please no.” Your voice is barely there, unable to be any louder. The flames leaving nothing in their wake, devouring everything it comes into contact with. “Not him, not him.” You repeat the words over and over, as you rest your head on the ground. He’s not dead, he can’t be. I can’t- I can’t do this without him. Your heart is pounding inside your ears, unable to hear anything else, and your lungs can't seem to hold any air at all. Before you know it, black dots line your vision, and then everything is dark. Before you pass out, the last thing you remember was the flickering of blue flames.
Those blue flames took your mentor from you, they took your wings, your freedom, they took the love of your life from you. You had nothing left. And now, those blue flames are going to pay.
For a year and a half, you haven’t touched your flames. You haven't activated the power that prowls under your skin like a beast. You had smothered it, tried to calm it, bottled it up for months, waiting for a moment to release it. The second you lock eyes with Sero, you nod before rising up off the ground.
“Get them to the checkpoint now.” You hiss, just as a chuckle echoes from down on the floor below.
“Running away so easily?”
“He’s right below us,” Jiro whispers, her ear-jacks still pressed into the concrete. She looks up at you, fear her eyes. How the hell do we get out of here alive? Luckily enough, you already have an escape route.
“Sero, now!” You yell out, aiming your hands at the floor and releasing a breath. All that unrelenting anger, frustration, grief, fury bubbles to the surface, and the second you see Sero swinging out the window with Jiro and Shoji in tow, you unleash yourself upon the world. Your pent up emotions spread to life in the form of a white flame, immediately melting the floor beneath you, and unfortunately missing the scarred man that it now reveals.
“We’ve been looking for you, little firebird,” Dabi smirks, even whilst standing in the middle of a world of flames. “The name’s kind of ironic isn’t it, considering how you lost your wings.” You know he’s goading you, so instead, you raise a hand, your own flames swirling around your fingers almost resemble lightning in their color.
“Ironic, considering you’re about to be burnt alive.” You hiss out before releasing your flames upon him. Dabi quickly unleashes a flash of power, only for those cursed blue flames to become overwhelmed by a wave of white melting hot fire. The smug look disappears in his eyes as he takes you in. You can feel the fire bubbling inside your veins, spilling out across your body like a shield, only not burning you. “You took everything from me,” Your throat aches from breathing in the smoke of the building. “and now, I will take your life.” You shout, letting your quirk redirect itself partially to your feet, sending you flying through the air where you fire white-hot fireball after fireball in the raven-haired man’s direction.
He would not survive this. You would make sure of it.
Your blasts were tearing up the building around you, and the warehouse you had been spying on, yet you did not care. You would set the whole world on fire before you gave him the chance to get away. The second you boost yourself out of the building and into the open courtyard between the buildings, is when you finally notice the fact that they’re barely standing, one slight movement from completely crumbling around you. Focusing back on Dabi, he looks at the buildings before relaxing his stance and glaring back at you.
“Don’t fool yourself, you can’t kill me. You’re nothing but a pathetic waste of a quirk.” He spits back, releasing a volley of blue flames towards you. Placing both your hands above your head, palms facing the sky, you swiftly release a blaze of power as you bring down your hands towards the floor, effectively slicing the incoming blue flames in half like a hot knife slicing through butter. You weren’t going to talk anymore, instead, you would fight him until he felt as much pain as you once had. Until Dabi knew how you had felt every day for the past two years since he had taken everything from you. Since he had ripped the love of your life from your grasp and permanently forced your feet to the ground.
Pieces of debris began to fall to the floor around you from collapsing buildings. Raising your arms either side of your body, you grin a feral smile at Dabi and aim at the two buildings, knowing fully well that when they collapse, they will bury you both. Quickly catching on to your idea, the man in front of you hesitates, only for a second, as if shocked by your actions.
“I’ll see you in hell, Dabi.” You release your flames and watch as the world crumbles around you.
҉ ҉ ҉ ҉
At first, there is nothing but silence, your body weightless and mind empty of all thought. Is this death? Everything is dark until there’s a shout that echoes so loudly in your brain it hurts, and you feel something grip you tightly but you can’t tell where... and then… Nothing…
When you come to again your eyes blink open instinctively, and you find yourself staring at a concrete ceiling that you’ve seen many times before. The infirmary?
You blink a few times, vanishing the blur from your eyes. You can hear the scraping of furniture coming from outside the room, but surprisingly, as you glance around, you’re the only one in here.
Trying to sit up, suddenly your ribs screech in protest, forcing a hissing breath from your lungs. Jesus christ! You pause once you force your aching body upright, and glance around the room again, giving yourself a chance to let the pain settle before moving again. An IV machine stands empty next to your bed, and a bandage wrapped around… well your everything. The white compression cloth fits your ribs like a second skin as well as your arm. You don’t even remember getting injured… All you remember was unleashing hell on Dabi and bringing down a building around you. You were ready to sacrifice yourself to take out one of the main league members like any of your friends would have done.
The only questions that matter right now though are did you succeed? And how weren’t you dead? You can’t seem to come to an answer for either though.
A loud muffled noise comes from outside, interrupting your thoughts. Curiosity gets the better of you, as you manage to pull yourself off the bed, ignoring your aching body’s outcry. The second your bare feet meet the cold concrete flooring, you can’t hold in the wince as the temperature makes your bones groan. You push on, slipping through the closed doorway, and glancing around, trying to track the source of the noise. You can’t make out the conversations, not until you’re passing through the halls, hunched over and holding your ribs that ache with every slight movement. It’s only once you’ve been walking around for too long do you deduce that the sounds are coming from the main common room of the warehouse. As you head in that direction, you pass a mirror and actually cringe at the image that stares back.
Yikes.
Any dust and grime that had covered you from the rubble you had most likely been pulled from had been cleared, but you still look as if you have been dragged backward through hell. Small scratches pepper your face, and a massive black eye is forming on the right side of your face. If you thought you could move your arms high enough without wanting to cry, you might have prodded it to make sure it was real. Thank god for small mercies, you suppose.
As you draw closer to the large open doorway of the common room, you see a few people gathered around the entrance, with smiles on their faces. The look confuses you enough to force your feet to scuff along the floor as you stop. The second the noise meets their ears, their heads snap in your direction, and those smiles become grins that are slightly terrifying. How long has it been since you’ve seen faces like that?
“Y/n, you’re awake! I should get someone from the medical team, stay there a second.” An older woman says before quickly jogging back down the hall from which you came. More sound spills out of the room and this time, you can finally catch parts of the conversation.
“I’m going to kill you myself.” Bakugou growls, which doesn’t surprise you. But the fact that his words don’t meet his tone is what surprises you enough to force your legs to move, and to step into the room. Right away, your eyes are drawn towards the cluster of people in the middle of the room. First, you see Sero and Jiro, both looking a bit dishevelled, but mostly okay which has you sighing in relief. The next is the fact that everyone was here… but why? Between the heads of your other friends and comrades, you catch a glimpse of the fiery blonde that has pure murder in his eyes. However, he doesn’t act upon and instead reaches forward and brings someone into a tight embrace.
Oxygen abandons your lungs and for a second, you’re positive that you are hallucinating. Your body is no longer responsive and your mind is an empty void as you try to take in the person before you. He’s still across the room, but you’re asphyxiating under his very presence. His red hair is now black, most likely due to the fact hair dye wasn’t on the list of top priorities of anyone these days, and has also grown out enough to be pulled off his face. It’s so different… but those crimson eyes, ones that gleam like light peaking through rubies is the same… You are dreaming, or dead… you have to be… You had watched your boyfriend die, you had watched Eijiro Kirishima run into a burning building. You had seen the structure fold like paper cards, and you had searched the rubble for days after. You had grieved for two years for the man you had loved since you had first met him in the U.A entrance exams.
There is no logical reason as to how he is now grinning at Bakugou, slapping him on the back with tears filling his eyes. It’s not possible.
It’s not, you searched for so long…
The second he pulls the blonde back into another embrace which earns a string of curses and some laughs, his eyes finally meet yours over Bakugou’s shoulder, and you find yourself transporting back to the day you had lost him.
“Don’t worry angel, I’ll be back”. He never came back,
“Get everyone out” You had.
“I’ll meet you at the safe-point soon.” He never did.
You’re gasping for air as your heartbeat thunders inside your head. It blocks out all other noise, and black dots dance within your vision. All of a sudden people are looking at you, and you can see Izuku’s lips moving in your direction, his eyes full of panic as he takes you in but you can’t hear him. You can’t seem to look from the ghost in front of you. No… he’s dead… Kirishima was dead. You have grieved him, you have cried over him, you have mourned the love of your life and still were…
Stepping out of Bakugou’s embrace, the man slowly walks towards you with caution, as if not to spook you. Well, that’s too late because I’m not seeing ghosts so I’m definitely off my rocker. With every step he takes towards you, you find the rise and fall of your chest gaining more and more speed, trying to take in more air, but failing to do so. Within seconds, he’s feet away from you, and you can’t take it. You had wanted this, so much… but it was impossible. Shaking your head, you hold your hands up in front of you to stop him from moving closer. Tears are flooding down your cheeks uncontrollably, and when he takes another step, you physically flinch back, a broken noise emerging from your lips that causes him to freeze. No, you’re dreaming! Wake up y/n! Maybe you’re in hell, and you are going to be forced to relive this again and again, only to lose him. If that’s true… Your eyes roam over Kirishima, looking almost the same as the day you lost him, and you know then your heart can’t take much more. You can’t take it.
“I- I can’t - I can’t…” You know you’re not making sense, and you’re not even sure if your words are actually understandable. But the pain and anguish in his red eyes is so similar to your own, it makes looking at him hurt even more. Kirishima finally walks forwards once more, until he is close enough to hold you, but he doesn’t. Instead, he stares down at you with so much affection and fondness in his eyes, and so much heartache you feel an echo of it inside your own chest.
“Sorry it took me so long to come back angel, I got a little lost.” oh my god. He says, trying to break the sombre mood with a joke, but you just fall to your knees, weeping and sobbing so hard you can’t breathe. In a split second he’s there holding you, crushing you to his chest so tightly, all you can hear is his heart and all you can smell is his scent. Oh my god, he’s here. He’s actually alive. The thought makes you cry even harder. Oh my god, he is alive.
Eijiro’s alive. Your brain begins to piece it all together. When you had brought the building down… someone grabbing you, a shout. It was him.
You pull back, your trembling hands cupping his wet cheeks as you search his face for any signs that it isn’t him, that it's nothing but a cruel dream. But the pure love swirling in his crimson red eyes and the tears running tracks down his cheeks are enough of an answer. “How I- you didn’t come back. Why? I needed you! And I thought you had died! I thought he had killed you like Hawks… I needed you Eiji, and god I missed you, so so much!” You manage to get out between the sobbing. Your mouth is moving on its own at this point, and you can’t keep up with what it’s saying. You have so much to say, so much to tell him and feel as if you don’t say it now, you’ll suffocate under its weight.
“It’s a long story sweetheart, but I’m here. I’m never leaving your side ever again.” You clutch his shirt beneath your palms, your weeping quieting slightly, and you rest your forehead to his chest, just relishing in the heartbeat you feel beneath your hands. He’s alive. Eijiro’s alive. Your brain repeats it on a loop as if trying to forever engrave the fact into your brain so it will finally sink in that this is reality. You will no longer have to experience a day without his smile, a night without his warmth, a second without his heart.
“I love you. I love you so much, and I missed you so much Eiji I can’t-.” You whisper breaks again as you squeeze your eyes closed, trying to stop another wave of sobs from breaking through. A warm hand gently lifts your chin, and you find yourself staring back up at your first and only love. He’s alive.
“I missed you too,” he murmurs, pressing a gentle kiss to your forehead before rubbing his nose against yours, his eyes not wavering from your own, as if he blinks, you’ll be gone. “I love you so much y/n, I will always come back to you. Always.”
You couldn’t care that you were in a room full of people, you couldn’t even care if villains showed up out of nowhere. Kirishima was back, he was whole and he was home.

Summary: The gods cursed our little wonder duo. They are soulmates, but in every lifetime that they find each other, the gods separates them. Basically-
Enjoy!!!!
🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚🧡💚
Third person bc I wasn't bothered to write in first person today)
No matter how many times they've met, they are always taken from each other,no matter what. They always fell in love, and it always pained them when they were forced apart.
The first time it happened was thousands of years ago, back when dragons roamed and knights saved princesses from the evil clutches of their wicked mother.
A time when fairies and nymphs danced around deep in the forest, hidden away from the unforgiving eyes of the humans who wanted nothing more then to captures and sell them for profit.
This, is where we meet our our beloved boys.
Katsuki had stolen from a mighty god's shrine, taking some of the offerings to give as his own to a certain little witch, wishing to finally win the greenette over.
He never believed in the gods. No,they were just stories made to scare children straight. Make sure they followed all the rules to a 'T'.
Well,not Katsuki.
He thought of himself as a god, really. Tall, strong, fierce red eyes that could kill a bear with a single, deadly gaze that was as sharp as a dagger. He was the perfect picture of godly.
"If you don't get off your high horse and show our gods some respect, they will surely smite you!" ,His mother would scold him, smacking the side of his head with a bruising force.
He would only scoff in annoyance, and go about his way.
Silly, silly little Katsuki..he didn't know the gods were watching, and were most certainly unpleased with his disrespectful behavior.
Katsuki stepped over yet another large root that descended out of the mossy, wet earth below his feet. He kept his bag of offerings slung over his shoulder, grip tight just in case some fairies tried to steal the bag. The little sparkly pests.
He had grabbed anything he could without getting caught; rich herbs good for creating spells, jewelery lined the only the most expensive stones, rubies, perls, diamonds, emeralds.
He took several of the finest cloaks he could find. Some velvet and lined lined with the fluffy coat of a grey wolf. Some silk with flowers beautifully sewn into the comforting fabric.
He had a smaller bag attached to his belt, just next to the sheath in which his sword was placed neatly and securely.
This bag was filled with food, sweet things for the smaller, green haired male. Honey buns, cinnamon rolls, many, many handfuls of green tea mochi that he knew the witch loved more then life itself. He grabbed moon pies, macaroons, super cubes, and a couple of regular little meat buns.bHe even made sure to get at least two or three of those adorable little tudor cheesecakes.
Did I mention this man was head over heels for our little Izuku?
He was soon standing in front of a small cottage, smiling as he could see little puffs of grey and white smoke erupting from the chimney.
The witch was home.
Good.
He walked up to the old mahogany door and knocked firmly, yet gentle,in a way.
This cottage was old, you could tell from miles away. Long winding vines overtook an entire wall, and,in the spring, would bloom with small flowers. There were sprouts of plants peeking their way through the small cracks in the roof, and he had half a nerve to climb up and pull them out. But, Izu liked them,so he wouldn't. It's not like the roof leaked anyway, which amazed him, really.
Some of the stones that made up the comforting little home were chipped, and others had chunks missing from the years spent unprotected from mother nature's rath. He still loved it all, though. This was like his second home.
The door slowly creeked open and a head full of green, unruly culrs poked its way out of the safety of the home, big emerald eyes meeting Katsuki's ruby ones.
"Kacchan!", The little witch smiled, swinging the door open and running into the taller males arms.
"Hey,there my darling little spell caster. I brought you some things.", Katsuki hummed, smiling warmly.
Izuku pulled away, looking at him sceptically.
"Are you still trying to court me?", He asked leading the man inside.
He was very much aware that the blond liked him, and he felt the same..he just wanted to tease and reject him just to get on his nerves.
It was a fun little game they liked to play...Cat and mouse,if you will.
The blond just chuckled, pulling the door closed.
He could tell the little witch had been busy before he had arrived. His large black cauldron was hanging over a live fire and filled with a purplish blue liquid that was bubbling quietly.
It smelled of lavender and citrus, maybe from a-
He was quickly shook from his thoughts as the greenette bent down to pick up a few loose papers from the floor before standing up straight and placing them on his desk.
Damn..
He was always getting distracted by those wide hips whenever the witch was around, and he just couldn't help it. Katsuki wanted nothing more than to grab at his slim waist and grip his green culrs tightly, as he bent him over his desk and mark up his neck.
He thought about that often.. maybe too often..While he's at it,he could probably convince Izuku to bounce on his-
"Kacchan? Hellloooo?" A sweet little voice snaps him out of his little day dream and he has to look down to see the small male standing right in front of him.
"Did you hear a word I just said?" Izuku huffed, crossing his arms.
Katsuki almost zoned out again when he saw the little heart shaped freckle that was delicately placed on Izu's right cheek that he just loved so much.
"Uh,no, sorry. I was trying to figure out what that other smell is. I can only pinpoint lavender, and I think orange?" Katsuki tilted his head to the side.
"Well, you'd be correct." Izuku had hummed, smiling, "Ive been trying to change up a few potions and make them smell lovely so anyone who passed by won't know they are potions."
Katsuki let out a small hum back before walking into the kitchen and setting the bags on the nice wooden table. Izuku followed behind him, humming.
The blond man opened one of the bags and pulled out a necklace, carefully putting it around the smaller's neck gently. He kissed the greenette's forehead gently, which caused him to blush deeply.
"You're adorable." Katsuki smiled.
They sat in a comfortable silence for a while, Izu sitting on the table and Katsuki standing between his legs, cuddling each other close.
"I accept.." Izu says gently, nuzzling his nose against the blonds jaw lightly.
Katsuki paused, looking at him.
Was...was Izuku finally accepting his feelings...?
The blond haired male gripped Izu's shoulders and pulled him back, looking him right in his emerald eyes.
"You do know what you're getting into, right?" Katsuki smirked, grabbing the wide rim of Izuku's pointed, black hat and places it on the table.
"Of course I do."
That's all it took for the taller man to lean in and capture the witch's lips in his own in a sickeningly sweet kiss that the greenette happily returned.
Alas, that fateful kiss was just what the gods needed.
That moment of pure love is what the gods would use against them.
They pulled away, and just as Katsuki went to speak the mahogany door slammed open. Izuku gasped and clung to the taller, a fearful expression as several knights rushed inside.
"So, it was true! There is a witch!" One of them shouted and Katsuki pulled the male in question close.
"Ah-ha! And the little non-believing thief!" Another exclaimed as the men in the mental armor came twords them.
How..how had they found them...?
Katsuki kept his lover held tightly in his arms and growled as a few of the knights pulled them apart forcefully. He thrashed and kicked, trying desperately to get away and protect Izu.
This wasn't supposed to happen...
The knights pulled them outside despite their objections and thrashing.
"O-ow! You're hurting me!" Izuku cried out as he was forced to kneel down.
Sure enough, there were deep purpling bruises starting to form on his exposed arms, the men holding him way to tightly.
"Let go of him!" Katsuki growled, but his demand fell on deaf ears.
The two were facing each other with their wrists bound behind their backs. Izuku had tears rolling down his cheeks and he was shaking.
This couldn't be real.
"How did you find us?!" Katsuki shouted, trying to free himself. Our blond boy was beyond pissed.
"Easy. A little fairy told us." A knight said, amused as a little fairy with spikey black hair, and sharp blue eyes fluttered over. He had deep blue wings and purple markings across his body.
"D-dabi?!" Izuku gasped out. That little fairy was his friend...well,he was supposed to be.
"I'm sorry, Izuku.." The tiny raven haired male sighed, acting sad. He smiled widely, though, as a knight handed him a mochi.
The fairy gave Izu a small part on the head before flying away, humming a little tune. Katsuki couldn't believe his eyes. They little fairy was always around.
He always helped Izu with his spells. He helped Baku find his way at night with his vibrant blue glow. Then he betrayed them..? That little bitch.
"This is why I hate fairies! You're nothing but scum!" Katsuki growled, thrashing around violently.
This was bullshit.
He's gonna stomp on that fairy.
He's gonna eat him whole.
He's gonna tear his little wings off.
He's gonna-
"By order of the king, you are both to be put to death."
Katsuki stilled.
"Both of you have been proven guilty of several crimes, including witchcraft and stealing from the gods."
No. Nonono! He just got Izu to be his for real, he..he can't die. They can't die!
Izuku let out a loud sob at the sound of a sword being pulled from its protective sheath, and the distress in his voice caused Katsuki to tear up.
"I-izuku, my little spell caster, close you're eyes." Katsuki instructed, leaning forward to rest his forehead against the smaller's. Izuku did as told, letting his eyes flutter shut as he tried to calm his breathing.
They both couldn't contain a yelp when a tip of a sword touched each of their backs, the duo staring to tremble.
This couldn't be happening.. This was all too surreal.
"We aren't heartless,so you may say your goodbyes." One of the men hummed, sounding sincere.
Katsuki didn't know what to say...how how do you sum up years of love and admiration into a bitter goodbye?
They opened their eyes to look at each other, Izu giving his lover a smile,a smile that held so many emotions behind it.
Katsuki gave a small smile back, letting out a broken chuckle. Their last words to each other were those of truth, a promise they'd keep forever.
Those knights returned to the kingdom with sour faces. They felt bad for having to end the lovers in such a way. They were mad at themselves.
No matter how many times they meet, Izuku and Katsuki are always tragically separated.
No matter how many times they fall in love, they can never experience each other too long, because it could all end in the blink of an eye.
But, no matter what, they always depart from their beloved with the same words tingling their tounges;
"I'll love you for a thousand years."
"And I'll love you for a thousand more"

Each synopsis comes from MyAnimeList. Here’s my profile if you’re interested, and feel free to send a friend request!
Anyway, onto the list! This is not in order btw, just 10 titles!
My 10 All-time Fave Anime
1. Given (2019)
Tightly clutching his Gibson guitar, Mafuyu Satou steps out of his dark apartment to begin another day of his high school life. While taking a nap in a quiet spot on the gymnasium staircase, he has a chance encounter with fellow student Ritsuka Uenoyama, who berates him for letting his guitar’s strings rust and break. Noticing Uenoyama’s knowledge of the instrument, Satou pleads for him to fix it and to teach him how to play. Uenoyama eventually agrees and invites him to sit in on a jam session with his two band mates: bassist Haruki Nakayama and drummer Akihiko Kaji.
Satou’s voice is strikingly beautiful, filling Uenoyama with the determination to make Satou the lead singer of the band. Though reticent at first, Satou takes the offer after an emotional meeting with an old friend. With the support of his new friends, Satou must not only learn how to play guitar, but also come to terms with the mysterious circumstances that led him to be its owner.
2. Rurouni Kenshin (1996)
In the final years of the Bakumatsu era lived a legendary assassin known as Hitokiri Battousai. Feared as a merciless killer, he was unmatched throughout the country, but mysteriously disappeared at the peak of the Japanese Revolution. It has been ten peaceful years since then, but the very mention of Battousai still strikes terror into the hearts of war veterans.
Unbeknownst to them, Battousai has abandoned his bloodstained lifestyle in an effort to repent for his sins, now living as Kenshin Himura, a wandering swordsman with a cheerful attitude and a strong will. Vowing never to kill again, Kenshin dedicates himself to protecting the weak. One day, he stumbles across Kaoru Kamiya at her kendo dojo, which is being threatened by an impostor claiming to be Battousai. After receiving help from Kenshin, Kaoru allows him to stay at the dojo, and so the former assassin temporarily ceases his travels.
Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan tells the story of Kenshin as he strives to save those in need of saving. However, as enemies from both past and present begin to emerge, will the reformed killer be able to uphold his new ideals?
3. Assassination Classroom (2015)
When a mysterious creature chops the moon down to a permanent crescent, the students of class 3-E of Kunugigaoka Middle School find themselves confronted with an enormous task: assassinate the creature responsible for the disaster before Earth suffers a similar fate. However, the monster, dubbed Koro-sensei (the indestructible teacher), is able to fly at speeds of up to Mach 20, which he demonstrates freely, leaving any attempt to subdue him in his extraterrestrial dust. Furthermore, the misfits of 3-E soon find that the strange, tentacled beast is more than just indomitable—he is the best teacher they have ever had.
Adapted from the humorous hit manga by Yuusei Matsui, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu tells the story of these junior high pupils as they polish their assassination skills and grow in order to stand strong against the oppressive school system, their own life problems, and one day, Koro-sensei.
4. My Hero Academia (2016)
The appearance of “quirks,” newly discovered super powers, has been steadily increasing over the years, with 80 percent of humanity possessing various abilities from manipulation of elements to shapeshifting. This leaves the remainder of the world completely powerless, and Izuku Midoriya is one such individual.
Since he was a child, the ambitious middle schooler has wanted nothing more than to be a hero. Izuku’s unfair fate leaves him admiring heroes and taking notes on them whenever he can. But it seems that his persistence has borne some fruit: Izuku meets the number one hero and his personal idol, All Might. All Might’s quirk is a unique ability that can be inherited, and he has chosen Izuku to be his successor!
Enduring many months of grueling training, Izuku enrolls in UA High, a prestigious high school famous for its excellent hero training program, and this year’s freshmen look especially promising. With his bizarre but talented classmates and the looming threat of a villainous organization, Izuku will soon learn what it really means to be a hero.
5. Attack on Titan (2013)
Centuries ago, mankind was slaughtered to near extinction by monstrous humanoid creatures called titans, forcing humans to hide in fear behind enormous concentric walls. What makes these giants truly terrifying is that their taste for human flesh is not born out of hunger but what appears to be out of pleasure. To ensure their survival, the remnants of humanity began living within defensive barriers, resulting in one hundred years without a single titan encounter. However, that fragile calm is soon shattered when a colossal titan manages to breach the supposedly impregnable outer wall, reigniting the fight for survival against the man-eating abominations.
After witnessing a horrific personal loss at the hands of the invading creatures, Eren Yeager dedicates his life to their eradication by enlisting into the Survey Corps, an elite military unit that combats the merciless humanoids outside the protection of the walls. Based on Hajime Isayama’s award-winning manga, Shingeki no Kyojin follows Eren, along with his adopted sister Mikasa Ackerman and his childhood friend Armin Arlert, as they join the brutal war against the titans and race to discover a way of defeating them before the last walls are breached.
6. Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica (2011)
Madoka Kaname and Sayaka Miki are regular middle school girls with regular lives, but all that changes when they encounter Kyuubey, a cat-like magical familiar, and Homura Akemi, the new transfer student.
Kyuubey offers them a proposition: he will grant any one of their wishes and in exchange, they will each become a magical girl, gaining enough power to fulfill their dreams. However, Homura Akemi, a magical girl herself, urges them not to accept the offer, stating that everything is not what it seems.
A story of hope, despair, and friendship, Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica deals with the difficulties of being a magical girl and the price one has to pay to make a dream come true.
7. Hunter X Hunter (2011)
Hunter x Hunter is set in a world where Hunters exist to perform all manner of dangerous tasks like capturing criminals and bravely searching for lost treasures in uncharted territories. Twelve-year-old Gon Freecss is determined to become the best Hunter possible in hopes of finding his father, who was a Hunter himself and had long ago abandoned his young son. However, Gon soon realizes the path to achieving his goals is far more challenging than he could have ever imagined.
Along the way to becoming an official Hunter, Gon befriends the lively doctor-in-training Leorio, vengeful Kurapika, and rebellious ex-assassin Killua. To attain their own goals and desires, together the four of them take the Hunter Exam, notorious for its low success rate and high probability of death. Throughout their journey, Gon and his friends embark on an adventure that puts them through many hardships and struggles. They will meet a plethora of monsters, creatures, and characters—all while learning what being a Hunter truly means.
8. Ranma ½ (1989)
Ranma Saotome is a top-class martial artist and prodigy at the Saotome “Anything-Goes” school of martial arts. While training in China, he and his father meet a terrible fate when they accidentally fall into a cursed spring. Now, Ranma is cursed to turn into a girl when splashed with cold water, and only hot water can turn him back into a boy.
Things are only complicated further when Ranma discovers that his father has arranged for him to marry one of Soun Tendo’s three daughters in order to secure the future of the Tendo dojo. Though Soun learns of Ranma’s predicament, he is still determined to go ahead with the engagement, and chooses his youngest daughter Akane, who happens to be a skilled martial artist herself and is notorious for hating men.
Ranma ½ follows the hilarious adventures of Ranma and Akane as they encounter various opponents, meet new love interests, and find different ways to make each other angry, all while their engagement hangs over their head.
9. Love Live! School Idol Project (2013)
Otonokizaka High School is in a crisis! With the number of enrolling students dropping lower and lower every year, the school is set to shut down after its current first years graduate. However, second year Honoka Kousaka refuses to let it go without a fight. Searching for a solution, she comes across popular school idol group A-RISE and sets out to create a school idol group of her own. With the help of her childhood friends Umi Sonoda and Kotori Minami, Honoka forms μ’s (pronounced “muse”) to boost awareness and popularity of her school.
Unfortunately, it’s all easier said than done. Student council president Eri Ayase vehemently opposes the establishment of a school idol group and will do anything in her power to prevent its creation. Moreover, Honoka and her friends have trouble attracting any additional members. But the Love Live, a competition to determine the best and most beloved school idol groups in Japan, can help them gain the attention they desperately need. With the contest fast approaching, Honoka must act quickly and diligently to try and bring together a school idol group and win the Love Live in order to save Otonokizaka High School.
10. Demon Slayer (2019)

Though living impoverished on a remote mountain, the Kamado family are able to enjoy a relatively peaceful and happy life. One day, Tanjirou decides to go down to the local village to make a little money selling charcoal. On his way back, night falls, forcing Tanjirou to take shelter in the house of a strange man, who warns him of the existence of flesh-eating demons that lurk in the woods at night.
When he finally arrives back home the next day, he is met with a horrifying sight—his whole family has been slaughtered. Out of Sync (Part 1 of 2)
Summary:
Deku and Ochako have been married for the past 8 years and have two wonderful kids. Too bad marriage isn't easy. Ever since Deku lost his quirk two years ago, he's been in a slump. He's now a stay at home dad while Ochacko is a very popular pro-hero. The downside? Her agency works her so hard that she's barely home. Basically, Deku and Ochako realize it takes more than love to make a relationship and family work. “Deku-chan! Ahh, I’m so sorry for coming in late again, my agency has been running me wild.” Ochako looked guiltily at the floor. This was the third family dinner she missed in the last week and even though she knew her husband understood she still felt bad about it.
“That’s fine,” Deku pressed his lip together into a small smile. “I know you're busy. Plus the kids and I watched you on T.V today. Toshi was very excited that his mama was so cool. Izuku turned his attention away from his wife and towards the dishes.
Ochako felt uneasy. Was something wrong? Did she do something? She had been getting more popular lately and was away from home more often than not. “Hey is everything okay?” she asked cautiously.
“Everything’s good.” Izuku continued to focus on the dishes. Ochako knew something was wrong, but she was too tired from a long day of hero work to do anything about it right now.
“Okay then. Let me know if you need me then.” she lingered for a moment, hoping Deku would speak up. He used to be an open book. She remembered back when they first started dating there were no secrets between them. It made her feel good knowing she could hold his heart in her hands. She missed that, things weren’t the same lately.
“I’m fine Ochako, you have an early day tomorrow and should probably turn it. Don’t worry I can handle the fort here, you worry about all the citizens that need you.” She opened her mouth to protest, to say something, but the words didn’t come to her. She didn’t know what to say to him anymore. The last two years had been the hardest of their marriage and she sometimes wished she could take a time machine back to when they were in sync. For now, all she could do is get some rest and do it all another day.
Ochako woke up to find her husband still asleep next to her. She loved seeing him like this. He looked at peace. Ever since his fight with All for One two years ago, he had been tense. She knew why. It’s not easy losing your quirk and your dream, but she wondered how much longer it would take for things to get back to normal. The man she married was bright-eyed and determined. That’s what she admired about him, the light in his eyes inspired her to work hard and become a great hero. She missed that man.
Deku woke up to a cold bed like every morning. He missed having Ochako beside him when he woke up. He would trace circles on her stomach and she would giggle and tell him to stop because it tickled. Back when he was at his agency they would wake up at the same time and race to see who could get into the shower first. Sometimes they got in together and took a little too long to get ready. He missed those times.
“Daddy! Daddy!” he heard his son bang on the door to his bedroom. “Hey, pal? You’re up early today.” he opened the door which caused his five-year-old to race past him and start jumping on his bed.
“Daddy look I can float just like Mommy!” he closed his eyes and touched his fingers together hoping something would happen, but nothing did. Izuku hoped that his kids would get Ochako’s quirk. He knew how hard it was to be quirkless and hoped his children wouldn’t inherit the same fate.
“It’s okay buddy, you’ll quirk will come in soon.” he smiled at his son. He hoped his words would ring true. He took Toshi off the bed and went downstairs to start making breakfast. Pancakes because his kids both had a sweet tooth and today was Sunday. It was a shame his wife had to work this Sunday as well, he never got to see her anymore. He finished making pancakes and went up to wake up his toddler.
“Hikari sweetie? Time to wake up.” His two-year-old daughter protested a bit, but with some encouragement got out of bed. Hikari was just a newborn when the incident occurred. He felt bad thinking about how much Ochako had to deal with back then. She had to not only take care of the baby but him as well. He was a mess after that fight. All for One’s dying face was ingrained within his mind. Losing One for All was the hardest on him though. He wished he was able to handle it better like Mirio when he lost his quirk, but he just wasn’t strong enough. One for All wasn’t just his quirk, it was his last connection to All Might and now that was gone too.
“Papa!” Hikari stretched her arms up indicating she wanted to be picked up. He picked her up and carried her downstairs to eat with her brother. Taking care of these two was the light of his day and he loved discovering pieces of his wife in them. He still missed Ochako, she was there, but she also wasn’t. Of course, she was a big hero, but he wanted to hold his wife. He couldn’t tell her that though, she needed to focus on saving people.
Work was particularly difficult for Uravity today. It was only noon and there had already been a villain attack and rescue mission. She was looking forward to eating lunch alone and video calling her kids. Izuku made it a point to pack her lunch for the last few months and looking at his note in her bento was always a highlight of her day. She still wished Izuku would take some time to talk to her, but for now, she'd settle for his little notes. Today’s note was a hand-drawn picture of Toshi and Hikari making a heart with their hands with the words miss you inside. She missed them too. Pro-hero work had been demanding the last few months and she barely had time to spend with her kids. Hikari didn’t even call her Mama, just Uravity because that’s what she saw on T.V. Izuku has been working on it with her, but no luck. Today was Sunday and she wanted to hug her kids more than anything, but for now, she would have to settle for a video call. Lately, she's had to settle on a lot of things.
“Uravity? You’re supposed to be at the agency briefing!” one of her colleagues called out to her from across the break room.
“Briefing? I’m on lunch break and I was about to call my ki-” she tried to protest, but before she knew it she was being dragged out by the will of her colleagues' quirk.
Izuku sat with his kids in front of the T.V which was showing footage of Uravity’s recent save.
“Look, baby, it’s Mama,” he pointed at Ochako hoping Hikari would take notice.
“Uravity!” she giggled enthusiastically.
“Yes Uravity is Mama’s hero name, but you have to call her Mama okay?” They had this conversation about 1000 times already, but she didn’t budge. It didn’t help that Ochako’s agency barely gave her time off to spend with her kids or him. He missed her so goddamn much. He didn't tell her that though, she was busy being a great hero and he was busy feeling sorry for himself.
“Mama is so cool, she’s the best hero. She gets to help save people every day. I want to be just like her!” cheered Toshi causing Izuku to smile. He loved that his son was an Uravity superfan, it reminded him of how he was with All Might back in the day.
“Work hard and you will be a great hero just like Mama.” he patted his son's head, but for some reason, the boy looked dismayed. “What's wrong?” he got on his knees to meet his son’s eye level.
“Nothing. Mama and Shou-chan said I’m not allowed to say.” admitted the boys who focused his attention on the ground. This caused Izuku to let out a deep sigh. People had been very cautious around him since the incident.
“First of all can’t you call him Oji-san and second of all what are you not allowed to say.” the little boy contemplated what to do, but ultimately gave in. Toshi was awful at lying to him.
“Well, I don’t have my quirk yet and I know you don’t have a quirk Papa so I asked Shou-chan if I wouldn’t get one.” Toshi bit his lip and looked down at the ground guiltily. Deku had been thinking the same thing recently, but he had no idea his friend had warned his son about it. Both Ochacko and Shouto knew about One for All and even before he lost his quirk, there was a chance that Toshi wouldn’t get a quirk based on genetics.
“What did he tell you?” Izuku smiled softly at him which prompted the boy to keep going.
“Well, he said there was a chance that I wouldn’t, but he had a feeling I would have a quirk. He also told me not to bring it up in front of you because you’d get sad. I asked Mama and she agreed.” there it was, his wife and best friend thought they were protecting him. He appreciated how much they cared, but hated that even Toshi was walking on eggshells around him.
“Well you’re only five and most quirks come in between 4-6 so let’s see what happens. Don’t worry about me. I'm not going to feel sad if you talk about quirks. Papa wants to know what’s on your mind okay? Besides, even without a quirk, there are plenty of jobs that can help make a difference.” He patted his son on the head once more to comfort him.
“But Papa? Why don’t you have a job then?” and there it was, the question that plagued him at night. It had been two years since the incident and he still wasn’t able to get past his dreams. He knew it was time to move on, but he just couldn’t. It felt like all his time spent at UA and with All Might had been for nothing. Recently he had been hiding pamphlets for different police academies from Ochako. He wanted to do it, but he was scared to enroll. It would be saying goodbye to a chapter in his life and talking to Ochako about it would make it suddenly feel too real.
“Well then I couldn’t see you all the time then silly,” he started tickling Toshi in his attempt to avoid giving a real answer. He loves his kids and staying home with them, but he wanted more.
“Welcome Uravity,” greeted Ochako's supervisor as she sat down in the meeting room. Her agency was a big one and managed quite a few pro heroes, but this room only had about 7 of them. She scanned the room to see if she knew anyone and found Shinsou looking at her. He had some of the best saves of their agency, but he had to keep out of the public eye due to the nature of his quirk.
“Sorry I’m late, I didn’t realize we had a briefing today.” she apologized and took a seat. She felt her phone buzz a couple of times but did her best to ignore it.
“It’s fine, you are our star after all. Rumor has it you might make top ten at Japan’s next hero ranking. We need to make sure you get as many saves as possible before then. You’ll have to log more hours from now on.” the older lady smiled at her.
“But those rankings aren’t for another 3 months and I already have such a long work week.” protested Ochako. She had to work 12 hours a day already, she didn’t want to have to be away from her kids anymore. She felt her phone buzz a few more times and was almost certain it was Deku.
“It takes sacrifice to become a top hero Uravity and you’re so close. What are another three months?”
“I know and I’m thankful for everyone’s support, it’s just that I have kids and I can’t-”
“Don’t you have a jobless husband that takes care of them?” her supervisor said so bluntly that it made Ochako angry. She looked over at Shinsou who also seemed to wince at the comment. She hated the hate her husband got after the incident. Many of his “fans” called him weak or made fun of his quirkless status. Sometimes she hated how public heroes had to be.
“Please, my husband does a lot for our kids as it is, but I still want to be there for them. I am their mother after all,” Ochako explained as her phone continued to buzz. She wished Deku understood that she wasn’t picking up because she was busy. After continued buzzing, her supervisor’s attention was directed towards her pocket where her phone was.
“Need to take that? Sounds important.” the older woman was annoyed and she knew it, but she stepped out to take the call.
“God Izuku this better be important! I’m really busy right now,” she grunted in frustration at the loading video screen. Only when the video screen loaded it was Toshi on the other end.
“Sorry Mama, I didn’t mean to bother you.” Toshi looked terrified when he saw her.
“Oh no baby, I’m not mad at you. Where’s Papa?” she hated that she just yelled at her son for trying to talk to her. She hated this entire situation.
“He’s giving Hikari a bath. I’m sorry Mama, I just wanted to call you so I took Papa’s phone.”
She breathed a deep sigh. “That’s okay Toshi, I’m really busy right now, but we can play hero when I get home okay?” she smiled at her son through the phone. More than anything she wanted to hold him.
“Will you be home for dinner today Mama?” he looked hopeful and she wished she could say yes, but she knew better than to get his hopes up.
“Toshi what are you doing?” she heard Deku say off-screen which caused Toshi to end the call immediately. Part of her was relieved because she had to go to work, but a part of her was angry with him for taking her son away from her. It was moments like this that made her jealous. He got to be there for them every moment of the day. Hikari was such a Daddy’s girl and would get fussy anytime Deku wasn’t in the room. Even Toshi who seemed to worship Uravity still didn’t come to her when he was having nightmares or wanted to build legos. Lately, she didn’t feel like a mother and she hated it.
Izuku knew Toshi missed his mother and he couldn’t blame him. Still, Ochako and he had an unwritten agreement that they had to wait for her call. Too many times did Deku call her during inopportune times. Now, unless it was an emergency he waited for her to call.
“Sorry Papa,” Toshi said, giving him his phone back. Deku thought about scolding him for taking his phone, but looking at his solemn expression he knew better.
“What’s wrong pal?”
“I miss Mama, she’s never home anymore.” his son began to tear up. He pulled Toshi in for a hug, but Deku knew nothing he could say would change that fact.
“I know Toshi, I miss her too.” Izuku knew that the kids needed some more time with Ochako, but her work schedule was so crazy. She was saving lives and he needed to support her. She had to get out there and defend Japan against some crazy villains and disasters. Not only that but as a popular hero, she had multiple press and publicity events she had to attend to as well. She crossed paths with many of their classmates from UA at them. Izuku couldn’t help but be jealous sometimes. He loved spending time with his kids, but he missed the social events and camaraderie of being a UA alum. He also wanted to get out there and do something important like Ochako, but lately, it felt like he had to hide from the public. He also wondered if Ochako was embarrassed to be with him sometimes. He knew this was not the marriage she signed up for. It was time he got out of his bubble and put himself out there again. The only question was 'how?'.

Imaginary- Chapter Thirteen
Midoriya Izuku’s life was turned upside by fate.
Eri’s life was turned upside down by circumstance.
And Bakugou Katsuki is about to learn that even imaginary friends need to grow up.
Also on AO3
A/N: Sooooo. Apologies for going MIA lol I moved last month and even though I told myself I would totally have time to still right, I totally didn’t have time to still write. And then this chapter went from a planned like 2k-ish words to over 6k. Which, I’m hoping makes up for the absence lol
***HERE’S YOUR WARNING, THIS CHAPTER EARNS THE E RATING.***
******************************
The dull, quick tap of Izuku’s fingers on the table top punctuate the otherwise quiet kitchen as he keeps his eyes fixed on his hand. It’s that awkward downtime that has left him without the ability to do much of anything, but was still far too early to start working on making dinner. In fact, the only thing he probably could do to pass the time would be to clean the kitchen. Again.
For the third time that day.
Sighing loudly, Izuku drops his head down on the table beside his hand. Inviting Bakugou to dinner had been such a good idea at the time, but almost as soon as he’d climbed into his car, he had realized the error he had made. Because ever since, a particularly lively family of butterflies has infested his insides, leaving him a quantified mess of fidgeting hands.
With each passing moment since they’d run into each other at the daycare, he had considered canceling. Considered picking up the phone and telling Bakugou he’d come down with some form of horrifying malaise and that as an officer of the law whose duty it was was to protect the common people, it was his job to not pass the sickness along.
But then he’d remember the way Bakugou’s gaze had pinned him against his car door, the force of it cutting down to the deepest secrets that he kept buried against his bones.
Then, finally, it was Saturday and far too late to make up some excuse.
So now, he was suffering the consequences of his actions, as he tried to swallow down the stray butterfly that was tickling the back of his throat.
Groaning again, Izuku lifts his head just enough so he can drop it back down with a dull thump.
“Daddy Izuku?” Eri’s voice is a shade of concerned that forces his head to snap up to attention. He doesn’t miss the way her eyes zero in on the inevitable red spot at the center of his forehead, or the way her smile grows as she giggles at his expense. Reaching up, he rubs his fingers over his skin where there’s a dull, pulsing throb.
“Did you pick out what movies you’re taking to Grandma’s?” Izuku asks, dropping his hand back to the table as he eyes the way Eri holds her own behind her back, obviously hiding something from his view.
She nods enthusiastically in answer.
“Are you going to show me which ones they are?” He prods, mind flashing back to the one time she’d grabbed a seemingly harmless hero movie that had ended up being an R rated nightmare his mother had yet to let him live down.
“I already packed them!” Eri exclaims, hands still firmly hidden behind her back.
“So then what do you have there?” Izuku asks, tilting his chin toward her. A light pink dusts her cheeks as she looks down to her feet. He watches as she twists her foot shyly.
“Daddy Izuku,” she starts, gaze still turned to her toes, “do you think you could give Kacchan something for me?”
The violent tempest in his gut picks up its speed at the mention of Bakugou’s name as Izuku sits up straighter.
“Of course, Eri. But why don’t you go ahead and give it to him yourself?” He says, ignoring the way curiosity weaves between his own words. The question makes her lift her gaze. Happiness burns bright in her eyes as she gives him a toothy grin.
“Because I think he’d really like it coming from you!” Eri cheers, finally pulling her hands in front of her. Her left fist clenches around a small collection of flowers that Izuku recognizes as the ones growing through the cracks of their fence from their neighbor’s yard, and her right holds a folded piece of paper.
Stomach going turbulent once more, Izuku reaches forward to gently take them both, making a mental note to find a cup of water for the flowers before turning his attention to the paper.
Bright colors decorate the front of the paper, depicting three people, each wearing equally colorful pointed birthday hats. Between the trio is a floating pink cake, and on the ground are several small squares with little bows.
Tucking his thumb into the fold, Izuku opens the paper to see Eri’s childish script.
Can you come to my birthday?
Sucking in a sharp breath, he lets the paper fold back shut as he eyes the drawing once more.
He had already been planning on inviting Bakugou to Eri’s birthday the upcoming Sunday, but something about the drawing sent a sharp spike of excitement ricocheting through his chest. Like this, in the Crayola colored world, they almost looked like they could be a family.
“Yeah,” he breathes, looking up to meet Eri’s expectant stare. “Of course, I’ll give this to him. He’ll love it.”
Gently setting down both the invitation and bouquet, Izuku reaches forward to scoop her up into a hug. Giving her a small squeeze, he smiles into her shoulder as he feels her give him one back.
“Thank you, Daddy Izuku!” She cheers, fingers fisting at the back of his shirt.
The sudden sound of the doorbell makes them both jump. Pulling apart, Izuku taps Eri on the nose as he smiles.
“That must be your grandma, why don’t you go grab your bag?” He says as he stands. Nodding dutifully, Eri skips toward the stairs, her steps thumping loudly as she heads up to her room.
With a small chuckle and shake of his head, Izuku makes his way to the front door. Pulling it open, he finds himself under the full force of his mother’s bright grin.
“Hey, honey,” she says loudly, gaze shifting over his shoulder to quickly scan the hall behind him.
“Hey mom,” Izuku sighs, stepping aside to let her into the entryway before adding, “he isn’t here yet.”
“Hm? Who?” His mom hums, stepping over the threshold as she lets an exaggerated confusion color her tone. Turning over her shoulder, she fixes her all knowing mom smile on him. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“You really didn’t think I’d have invited him to come at the same time you did, did you?” Izuku teases, shutting the door behind them. As they both settle in the entryway, he watches as his mom crosses her arms over her chest before pinning her big, green gaze on him.
“Izuku, I’m hurt,” she replies, smiling through her pout as he rolls his eyes.
“Do you blame me? Who wants to meet someone’s mom on their first date,” he says. There’s a brief pause before the realization of what he’s said rolls through him. The sharp clack of his teeth snapping shut as his mom’s smile grows.
“I thought it was a thank you dinner?” She presses, eyes sparkling with interest.
“Yes, it is,” Izuku quickly rectifies. “A thank you dinner between friends. Nothing else.”
“If you say so, sweetie,” his mom hums as she reaches out to rub his shoulder. “Just keep an open mind, okay. This boy seems to be pretty good for the both of you.”
“Mom,” Izuku groans, pulling back and dropping his head into his hands to hide the sudden burn across his cheeks.
“I’m just saying, Izuku!” His mom exclaims, leaning in close until he pulls his hand away to meet her stare. Tapping her finger against the center of her his forehead, she laughs lightly.
“Listen to your mother. You and Eri have been so happy the last few weeks, and I think we all know why.”
Brushing her hand away, Izuku sighs again.
“Yeah, yeah, mom. I get it. It’s still not a date.”
“Alright, dear,” she says, sounding completely unconvinced as she turns toward the sound of Eri’s steps on the stairs. They both fall into silence as they watch her hop off the last one, landing loudly as she looks to them both with her ever bright smile.
“Are you ready to have the best sleepover ever?” His mom asks, reaching her hand out to Eri.
“Yeah!” She cries loudly, taking her grandma’s hand. Bouncing in place excitedly, Eri barely spares him a glance as she says, “bye Daddy Izuku!”
“Be good for your Grandma Inko,” Izuku chuckles, ruffling her hair before reaching over her head to open the door. Leaning back against the doorway, he watches as Eri pulls on his mom’s hand.
“She always is,” his mother answers, letting Eri pull her out the door. The pair gets down the front steps before his mom pauses, looking over her shoulder with an almost sinister smile.
“And you be good on your not date,” she says, voice filled with innuendo before she winks.
“Get out of here,” Izuku shoos heat burning his cheeks as his mom turns away to continue down the path toward their front gate.
“Grandma Inko, what’s a not date?” He hears Eri ask. A loud moan escapes his lips as he hears his mother cackle before he shuts the door. Pressing his back to it, he rolls his eyes before looking down at his watch.
Maybe he can get in one more cleaning after all.
***
The rice is in the cooker, the meat and vegetables are marinating in the fridge, and Izuku is already halfway through a glass of wine when the doorbell finally rings again.
Swallowing down the high pitched eek of surprise that threatens to rips itself out of his mouth, Izuku wipes his hands on a kitchen towel before heading to the front door. The wood of it is almost daunting as it stands between him and the man on the other side, and he wonders what the hell he’s doing.
Lost to his thoughts for just a few seconds too long, the doorbell rings again, making him jump slightly before he finally opens the door.
“Thought maybe you were about to stand me up,” Bakugou greets, no real heat to his words as he sweeps his appraising look up and down Izuku’s frame. His own stare takes in all of the blonde, noting the way his button up clings to his just chest and the way his jeans accent his thighs. Even his hair, still set as a calculated disaster, seems to accentuate his face in an entirely different way than normal.
The look strikes a devastating blow to the space to Izuku’s solar plexus as he struggles to catch the breath that was just punched out of him.
“Hi,” he manages in response, mentally making a note to kick himself later for his sudden inability to speak.
Bakugou’s answering laugh is rough, and it raises goosebumps along Izuku’s skin as he hits him with the full brunt of his half cocked smile.
“Hey,” he greets before flicking his gaze over Izuku’s shoulder. “You gonna let me in?”
Swallowing thickly, Izuku just nodes and steps to the side, giving Bakugou enough space to step over the threshold. Taking the opportunity to enter, he casually walks in, keeping close as he flicks his gaze over Izuku once more before he busies himself with taking off his shoes.
Izuku swears he hears the soft huff of a suppressed chuckle as he shuts the door, and it sets fire racing over his cheekbones and turning his skin a violent shade. Without waiting, he walks in ahead of Bakugou, making a beeline for the fridge to grab the meat and vegetables from the fridge. The solid surface of the cool Tupperware in his hands grounds him, giving him something else to focus on other than the fact that his brain is short circuiting.
Be good on your not date, his mom’s voice taunts at the back of his mind.
Not a date, he mentally chides as he lets the fridge door shut loudly.
“Anything I can help with?” Bakugou asks, voice just at his back, making him jump slightly as he tightens his grasp on the Tupperware like it’s a lifeline. Not turning to face him, Izuku shuffles over to the stove and puts a pan on the stovetop.
“Nope,” he replies, popping the ‘p’ as he quickly flicks the burner on.
“You can just pour yourself some wine and sit there and—”
“Look pretty?” Bakugou bites, shit eating grin all too loud in his tone as he cuts Izuku off. Something seizes in his chest, forcing the air out of his lungs for length of three breaths before he grabs for the wooden spatula beside the stove. Turning quickly over his shoulder, Izuku forces himself to breathe.
“Let me do all the work,” he grits, doing his best to sound stern as he points the utensil straight at his tormentor. In response, Bakugou’s smile only grows sharper, more dangerous, as he reaches for the already open wine bottle and empty glass from the kitchen island. Settling down into one of the island stools, he makes careful work of filling the wineglass.
“‘Fraid I’m not that kind of girl, Deku,” he replies, arching a brow as he stares at Izuku and takes a drag of wine. A small hiccuping noise pries itself between Izuku’s teeth as he turns back to the stove. Ignoring the small huff of amusement from behind him, he pulls the lid off the container, upending the contents into the pan. They land with a satisfying sizzle as he places the now empty container on the counter, replacing it in his hand with his wine and swallowing down a big gulp.
It does nothing to sate the nervous yet excited thrum doing laps through his veins.
“So you cook dinner for all of Eri’s friends?” Bakugou asks, focused gaze burning a hole between Izuku’s shoulder blades as he pushes around the meat and veggies so that they cover the pan in an even layer.
“Only the ones I really like,” he mutters without thought as he almost flicks a pepper out of the pan. It isn’t until he’s chased it back into the confines of the metal cookware that he realizes what he’s said.
“I’m flattered then,” Bakugou says, voice molten. Turning a quick glance over his shoulder, Izuku traces the long line of his throat as he takes another sip of wine. He tries not to think too much about the light shade of pink that’s high on Bakugou’s cheeks when he resurfaces from the glass.
“You might not be after dinner,” Izuku says, chasing his own words with a self deprecating laugh as he turns back to the food to give it another stir. “I really only know how to do stir fry.”
A low and warm sound fills the space between them.
“Well than next time, I’ll be the chef,” Bakugou replies.
A shock of lightning strikes at the pit of Izuku’s stomach at the thought of next time.
Turning down the heat, he sets the spatula to the side, turning fully to face the man behind him. Settling his hands on the counter behind him, he leans back against the cool surface.
“Are you asking me on a date, Kacchan?” He teases, hoping that the question doesn’t ring with the burning hope that’s crawling its way up his throat.
“Consider it a thank you dinner,” Bakugou counters, punctuating his sentence with a quick wink.
Lips parting around his small gasp of shock, Izuku turns back toward the food, focusing on stirring the pan’s contents in a sad attempt to lull his rushing heartbeat. Losing himself to the task, its several minutes before he finally flicks the heat off, just in time for the rice cooker to click over to its keep warm function.
“Dinner is served,” he says, aiming the words behind him just in time to see Bakugou peering over his shoulder. His sudden presence sends a shock skittering down his spine, tracing between its knobs until the bright sparks found a home in his gut.
“Smells good,” Bakugou says. The compliment brushes across Izuku’s nape, followed closely by a burning flush.
“Thanks,” he says, moving to the side and offering Bakugou a plate and a rice paddle before adding quickly, “again.”
Rolling his eyes, Bakugou takes them.
“Shut it, Deku, let’s eat,” he snipes, turning to the rice cooker and opening the top. Scooping rice onto his plate, he hands the paddle to Izuku before moving onto the stir fry. Mechanically going through the motions, he follows suit, adding food to his plate almost blindly before moving to the dinner table to take a seat beside the one Bakugou had chosen.
Silence fills the bubble around the table, engulfing them in a comfortable warmth as they both eat. Izuku knows he should probably say something, but there’s a sort of calm that he’s wholly unfamiliar with. It’s a sort of calm that doesn’t beg for words or moments to be something in its own right.
Hidden within its depths, it’s a calm that gives him a glimpse into a future that he could have, one that, up until that very moment, he hadn’t even realized was something that he had maybe wanted.
Izuku had had Eri, and Eri had had Izuku, and until then, he hadn’t realized that maybe they could also have something else.
Someone else.
“What’s that?” Bakugou’s voice cuts through the din of his thoughts, leaving Izuku reeling and grasping from some kind of mental foothold as he searched for the that in which he was talking about.
Following the line of his stare, Izuku sees his attention has settled on the small mug filled with Eri’s handpicked flowers and the invitation beside it. He lets himself linger on the bright art of the trio, searching for a bit of courage amongst the crayon smiles.
“It’s for you, actually,” Izuku says after clearing his throat. Reach out, he carefully grabs the paper and hands it toward Bakugou, breath catching as their fingers brush.
“Eri wanted me to invite you to her birthday,” he continues, squeezing the words around the stalled air in his throat. Bakugou keeps his stare down to the paper, opening it and reading the scrawled words inside. Falling back into the comfortable quiet, Izuku watches as Bakugou’s gaze softens into unabashed, open wonder. A soft shade of pink stains his cheeks, the color making Izuku’s stomach flip as he tries fruitlessly to tear his own stare away.
It was one of the rare moments that Bakugou let his usually hard walls down, revealing one of Izuku’s favorite sights. He watches as Bakugou’s lips gently pull up. It’s such a small movement that Izuku thinks he might not even realize that he’s smiling.
“When’s her birthday?” Bakugou asks, attention never leaving the colorful portrait of the three of them.
“Next Sunday,” Izuku answers quickly. “But if you’re busy you don’t have to. I’m sure she’ll under—”
Bakugou’s quick gaze cuts off his rambling like a sword strike as he finally looks up to him.
“I’ll be there,” he says definitively, holding Izuku’s stare. Captivated by the surety that has turned Bakugou’s stare into something closer to gemstone as opposed to it’s usual magma, Izuku openly watches him.
Tension, thick and heady, rolls out between them. It prickles at his nerves, making him antsy beneath the heavy gaze.
“Okay,” Izuku finally replies with a curt nod, biting at the edge of his smile before turning back to his food.
Shoveling a bit into his mouth, he keeps his attention turned to his plates as Bakugou sets the handmade card down. The near stifling atmosphere doesn’t wane as they both eat in silence. Instead, it continues to grow heavier, more heated, as Izuku tries to steer his mind away from the mesmerizing look that had settled in Bakugou’s eye when he’d seen the invitation.
Finishing up their meals, they both moved toward the kitchen sink, Izuku ready to start washing the dishes before Bakugou quickly hip checked him.
“The cook never cleans the dishes, nerd,” he huffs as if it was the most obvious thing in the world before he snatching the plate from Izuku’s grasp.
The warm, swirling ease of the wine had finally worked its way through his mind and limbs, leaving him inhibited as he reaches for the plate and giving it a tug in an attempt to get it back.
“But I invited you over to thank you,” Izuku huffs, keeping his eyes on the plate and the strong lines of Bakugou’s hands.
They’re very nice hands, he thinks.
“There are no loopholes to this rule,” he replies, pulling the plate free of Izuku’s hands once again. Turning to the sink, Bakugou turns on the water, seemingly putting an end to the discussion.
With a heavy sigh, Izuku leans back into the bend of the counter between the sink and stove, crossing his arms across his chest in displeasure as he watches the way the blonde scrubs at his plate.
“You just gonna stand there and stare at me until I give in?” Bakugou asks without looking up, taking his time to run the sponge back and forth over the porcelain.
“Would that work?” Izuku shoots back. Not expecting any reaction, he startles slightly at the sudden turn of Bakugou’s head as he looks over him, appraising him and his wine pliant words. As if finding the answer to the question he didn’t ask, he rolls his garnet gaze towards the ceiling before looking back to the sink.
Turning the water back on, he rinses the suds off before pushing the plate in Izuku’s direction. Drops of water plink on the tile between them.
“Fine, I’ll wash, you dry,” he compromises. Staring at the plate between them, Izuku’s holds his breath, unsure of what to say. In all honesty, he hadn’t expected Bakugou to give in so easily, if at all.
Droplets speckled Izuku’s shirt as Bakugou gives the plate an impatient shake that shakes him of his thoughts as he grabs the dish towel and then the plate.
“Deal,” Izuku says with a sharp nod as he begins to wipe the dish dry. With such few plates and utensils between the two of them, the job goes rather quickly with their combined forces, leaving the pan as the solitary dish left.
Picking it up, Izuku hands it over to Bakugou. Gently taking it from his grasp, the blonde sets it into the sink, turning on the water and watching it run before he speaks again.
“Thank you.”
The words are said low, nothing more than a wisp of a breath that Izuku isn’t sure he was supposed to hear them. Eyes snapping up from the blue towel between his hands, he traces his gaze over the sharp lines of Bakugou’s profile, mentally filing away the soft downcast look in his eyes, and the slight downward curve in his lips.
Maybe, if the wine hadn’t loosened his tongue, he would have let it go, allowing Bakugou the chance to pretend he hadn’t said anything at all.
“For what?” Izuku hears himself ask, voice just as breathy. Bakugou doesn’t move, instead keeping his attention turned to the now overflowing pan. He stays that way for so long that Izuku wonders if he’d actually even spoken up.
Then he slowly reaches forward to turn off the faucet before turning to look at him. Eyebrows pulling together as if having an internal debate, Bakugou opens his mouth to say something, pausing for just a moment more before speaking.
“I don’t know.”
Those three words, filled with so much confusion seem to ring with an unsaid truth as Izuku looks up to him, his own lips slightly parted around an unsaid remark.
Time seems to freeze, locking them both in a suspended, momentary breath. Deep within the ruby depths of Bakugou’s gaze, Izuku sees the bright burning flame of desire, and it acts like a spark to gasoline. Heat races like a forest fire through his veins, tearing through him and leaving his breathless as the world slams back down around them.
Izuku isn’t sure who moved first, doesn’t even think he cares.
All Izuku knows is Bakugou’s mouth is on his, and his fingers are twisting into the emerald strands at his nape in an attempt to keep him close, as if he’s planning on going anywhere. Blindly dropping the dish towel, Izuku grasps the front of Bakugou’s shirt with a fist as his other hand traces along the line of his shoulder to try and press him closer.
Sparking lightning catches along the spaces where their bodies touch, making Izuku moan low in his throat. Swallowing down the sound, Bakugou presses in infinitesimally closer, the motion pressing Izuku’s back further into the edge of counter.
The sharpness of it makes Izuku hiss, causing Bakugou to pull back.
Slowly opening his eyes to look up at him, Izuku finds himself the object of his shining gaze. It’s filled with the same soft wonder from earlier, only not it’s wholly for him. That very same look twists and burns through him, leaving behind nothing but ruin that Izuku thinks he might not ever recover from.
It leaves Bakugou’s mark deeply etched into his bones as Izuku lifts onto his toes to close the distance between them once more. A soft, sighing breath tickles across his bottom lip as he gently pushes back against the blonde, gently guiding them out of the kitchen at toward the stairs.
“Was this a part of your thank you plans?” Bakugou asks, dragging the words across Izuku’s skin before nipping at his earlobe.
“Shut up, Kacchan,” he snipes, fingers finding Bakugou’s belt before making quick work of unclasping its buckle. Stumbling up the steps, they only part long enough for the blonde to pull Izuku’s shirt over his head. The fabric falls slowly over the banister, landing in the foyer below as the pair makes their way to the top of the stairs.
A loud thump punctuates the quiet home as Bakugou pushes Izuku up against the closed door of his room. Gently nipping at the soft skin on the side of his throat, he pulls a sharp gasp from Izuku’s lips.
Welcoming his exploration, Izuku tilts his head as he grasps for the door knob. His stomach jolts suddenly as the door swings open behind him before a pair of strong arms wrap around his waist to steady him.
“Shit, Deku,” Bakugou huffs without any heat. Using the moment to his advantage, he lifts Izuku, holding him up against him until he wraps his legs around his waist. Fixing his smoldering gaze on him, Bakugou paints Izuku’s skin with its garnet coloring before capturing his lips once more.
Taking slow strides, he walks them toward the bed. Carefully, as if Izuku might break, he settles him down on the bedspread. The bedding is a soft cushion that embraces his back, eyes set on Bakugou as he pulls away.
Squeezing his legs around Bakugou’s hips to keep him close, Izuku watches as he slowly pulls his shirt over his head. With a quick flick of his wrist, Bakugou tosses the shirt over his shoulder before settling himself back down over him.
One hand splays beside Izuku’s head, and the other tracks burning desire up his flank, sending a shudder crashing through him. Not missing the way Bakugou smiles at the movement, he palms at the blonde’s stray hand tugging it up to the side of his neck before he leans up to catch that smile with his own.
It feels like he might be burning alive with the way their bare skin slides against each other. The only thing that tethers him to the ground is the contrasting cold of Bakugou’s undone belt buckle where it presses into his abdomen.
His lips are feather light, yet filled with burning intent where they skim across Izuku’s jaw. Following the strong line of bone, Bakugou’s attention grows heavier when he reaches his throat. Pressing open mouth kisses along the quick thrum of his pulses, the blonde continues the torturous path down toward his collarbone.
Izuku grasps at Bakugou’s back, nails raking across his skin and drawing bright red over his shoulders. Each careful press punched another breath from his lungs, leaving him gasping as Bakugou nipped at his collar.
“Katsuki.”
The name falls from his lips, painted in reverence and accompanied by a sudden stillness as Izuku realizes that breathless voice had been his own.
Even in their current state, something about Bakugou’s name feels intimate in a way that Izuku can’t seem to place. It’s something so much more than a sudden spark of mutual lust, something more than a date disguised as a thank you dinner.
It’s so much more than the stolen glances, playdates, and the stutter of his heart as he watches the way Bakugou and Eri get along.
It’s so much more.
“Bakugou, I—” Izuku starts, fingers still curled at Bakugou’s back as he stares up at the ceiling, only to be cut off by the soft, purring hum in the blonde’s throat. Turning his attention away from the shadows clinging to the ceiling, Izuku looks down to catch Bakugou’s soft gaze before he presses a kiss just above his heart.
“‘Zuku,” he whispers, the brush of his breath cool against the concentrated point of heat at his chest.
“Izuku,” Bakugou breathes again, clearer this time before pressing the name into his sternum. Continuing his path down, Bakugou alternates between soft presses and open mouthed kisses, separated only by the soft hush of Izuku’s name as his fingers make quick work of undoing his pants.
An aching, burning longing grows at the pit of Izuku’s stomach, pushing all else from his mind as he lifts his hips to accommodate the slide of his jeans downward. Bakugou’s palm drags a scathing line over his thigh as he traces the muscle, humming low in his throat as he tugs one of Izuku’s legs over his shoulder.
Flicking his gaze down, Izuku catches the way Bakugou looks up at him languidly from where he kneels between his thighs before he takes him in his hand.
The touch is electric, shooting a bolt through him that runs back and forth tracks through his veins as he tosses his head back. His hand is pleasantly rough, slicked with the lube that Izuku hadn’t even noticed he’d grabbed.
Each stroke is careful and slow, calculated in a way that gently leads Izuku towards the precipice. Working like a soothing tide, the beginnings of his end crest over him in waves, spurned on by the rhythmic movement of Bakugou’s hand.
There’s a soft brush at his hip, a barely there caress that has Izuku peeking down toward the blonde once more just in time to see his lips quirk wickedly before replacing his hand with his mouth.
Keening at the sudden, engulfing heat, Izuku grabs at the bedspread beneath him with one hand, as his other finds itself in Bakugou’s hair.
“I can’t,” he moans loudly, hips arching as Bakugou drags his tongue along the underside of his cock, circling the head before he pushes back down. Bakugou’s questioning hum is like a bolt that ricochets through him.
“I’m not going to,” Izuku starts, swallowing down another low moan as he feels the smooth touch of fingers running soothing lines across his skin. The path, from the back of his knee and up, draws closer and closer to where Izuku truly wants him to be, and he finds himself rocking his hips impatiently.
“I’m not going to last much longer if you don’t hurry the hell up,” he finally hisses through his clenched teeth as he hits the back of Bakugou’s throat. It earns him another hum, this one a shade off from a laugh.
Room filling with the sounds of his breathy moans, Izuku grips tighter at Bakugou’s hair as he feels the slow, slick intrusion of a finger. His thoughts burn away, leaving nothing but ash and wisps of smoke as Bakugou works him open.
It’s all too much, and nowhere near enough, as he sets a careful pace. Each crook of his finger and slow drag of his hand paired with the artful movement of his mouth has Izuku writhing.
Heat and light burns bright in his chest, growing and growing until Izuku wonders if Bakugou can see the bright glow shining between his ribs. It pushes out against his bones, until he can no longer breathe, can no longer think about anything other than the way that it seems to be breaking him apart.
Then Bakugou pulls away.
“Wha—” Izuku moans, half incoherent as Bakugou shakes his hand from his hair. Still balancing his leg on his shoulder, he smoothly pushes forward, bending Izuku in half as he nudges at his nose with his own.
“Izuku,” Bakugou breathes, pressing his name between their lips with a chaste kiss.
“Kat-“ Izuku stutters as he feels him, wet and hot at his hole, and he’s never needed so much.
“Katsuki.”
This close, he can see the dark flecks that mar the bright red of Bakugou’s gaze. They’re small speckles of imperfection that reminds Izuku that, impossibly, he’s real.
“Are you mine?” Bakugou growls, running a palm from his hip and over the side of his leg toward the knee at his ear as the other smooths over his arm. Pulling his grip free, Bakugou carefully pushes it up beside Izuku’s head and laces their fingers.
It’s an earnest question, genuine and honest, and it stuns Izuku. He’s been many things in his lifetime.
A son.
A friend.
A policeman.
A father.
But never has he ever thought of himself as anyone’s. Yet, separated by nothing more than the breadth of space between their heaving chests, Izuku finds he doesn’t even truly need to think about it.
“Yes,” he answers with a small nod, gasping at the involuntary twitch of Bakugou’s hips that push him ever so closer to his entrance. “Yes, I’m yours.”
“Good,” Bakugou chews out, sealing it like an oath between them as he pushes in. Izuku’s hand clutches hard around his like a lifeline as Bakugou fills him oh so slowly. Breathing him in, Izuku gives his own growl as he rocks his hips, spurring him on until he’s fully sheathed.
The movement seems to break whatever restraint Bakugou had had left as the hand at his knee slides down between them to grasp at Izuku as he starts to pump his hips. The duel sensation of his hand on him, and his heat inside him blinds Izuku as the light caught between his ribs returns with a deafening roar.
Chanting Bakugou’s name and a string of near incoherent curses, it doesn’t take long before his vision goes white and his sternum cracks with the sudden exploding weight of his release. Hanging onto the last threads of his consciousness, Izuku holds Bakugou close as he follows, his final moan pressing itself just beneath his ear.
A languid, bone deep ease works its way through him, leaving him pliant as he basks in the warmth of the lingering glow that still clings to his insides.
It takes several minutes for Izuku to resurface from the abyss, a small smile quirking his lips as he sees Bakugou wiping him clean carefully with what looks a lot like his shirt.
Maybe later, he’d find it in himself to care, but right now, with Bakugou slowly settling in beside him, he can’t really seem to.
Strong arms wrap around his middle, pulling him close to settle his back against Bakugou’s chest. Surrounded by the comforting warmth of his skin, Izuku pushes back into him, smile growing as he feels the steady beat of Bakugou’s heart at his back.
“Katsuki?” He asks into the dark room, voice low and filled with satisfied exhaustion. Guiding his hand along the strong forearm around his waist, he searches for Bakugou’s hand.
“Yeah, nerd?” Bakugou grumbles, breath ruffling Izuku’s curls as he flips his palm up to oblige him.
Wiggling his fingers between his grasp, Izuku hesitates slightly. He hadn’t really thought about what he was going to say, at least, that’s the lie he told himself as he yawned. The room around them settles into stillness as Bakugou waited for him to continue.
“Are you mine?” Izuku finally asks, eyelids growing heavy. Bakugou’s hand tightens slightly over his own as they both fall into silence once more. Exhaustion pulls at him, weighing him down and pushing him further into the welcoming darkness of sleep.
The last thing Izuku remembers as he finally settles into its warm embrace is the soft press of lips at his ear, and the careful brush of breath as Bakugou finally answers.
“For as long as you need me.”
