Back after rereading Marigold Promises as soon as my holidays started haha. And I just adore Heizou and the Tighnari Kokomi interactions so much.

I hc that both Tighnari and Kokomi would buy these froggie bags and when they see each other with it, they'll just growl at each other from across the campus while everyone else just laughs at their predicament.

(( I will start this off with the huge caveat that: all of this depends on my roleplay partner. I will not presume Miranda knows anything other than the most basic details if it has not already come up in a thread, unless my writing partner says it is okay and that Miranda would know it. It’s why I stress over and over again to talk to me and to plot stuff out, because I have a lot of lore and I really do not want to step on anyone else’s toes and I would rather assume no until explicitly told yes, because I don’t like it when people assume their muse would know my lore without talking to me.

That said, the headcanon part of this post.

Miranda knows a lot about biology and anatomy.

It’s as I have stated in her bio — she seemingly has a lot of very advanced knowledge, both on how bodies work, and the varying differences between different species, without a lot of explanation on where she’s learned all of this from. One thing she is particularly good at is instantly assessing and guessing what’s underneath the skin based on how someone else moves or other small, tiny quirks about them, using exterior facts to triangulate what’s going on beneath the skin.

It’s part of what makes her dangerous in an actual fight, where she gets to use her training. Miranda will aim for certain muscle groups and tendons to cut them and severely impair her opponent’s ability to move, if not outright kill them, and is remarkably good at guessing that alongside where the skin is thinnest and where they are the weakest. She is very good at assessing what someone’s weak points and blindspots are, but this goes even further beyond dueling.

Miranda is also weirdly learned in some odd subjects. She knows quite a lot about certain monsters’ biology, often far more than those actual monsters, and constantly implies that she knows exactly how their bodies work. Likewise, what doing certain things will do to their bodies, and how to help or harm someone in a way that suggests she’s highly familiar with these subjects. Biomechanics is her strong suit, but so is all the weird quirks of bodies, things that are obscure and hard to figure out or know what’s going on. Biochemistry is another strength of hers. In a pinch, if she needed to, she knows how to stitch someone back together, almost equal to or exceeding that of a medic. Or, she could take someone apart with equal dexterity.

Not only that, but this especially is odd due to how much she knows about hard to come by or rarer topics. She’s from the Merkingdom. She’s been surrounded by nearly all merfolk all of her life, and has spent very little time on land. But, somehow, she seems to know more about hard-to-come-by subjects than landfolk, even if there’s absolutely no reason that she should be able to know these things.

And, of course, Miranda’s no help in explaining why she knows all of these things or how she came by this knowledge, and will just rattle off some line or another about someone of her position having to be prepared for all potential circumstances to rule adequately.

Hi! Hope you're doing well. You're in one of the most stressful periods of an Indian student's life, ngl.... I totally understand the struggle buddy 😔

I gave my neet ug in 2016, the cursed year when all the state entrances were suddenly cancelled out of the blue and neet ug was made mandatory for medical college admissions. I remember anxiously filling forms for at least 8 different exams and even giving a couple of them, then bam, neet ug news drops and chaos ensues. Fun times 🙃

Anyways.... For revision, I'd say the quantity of revisions matter more than the quality of the revisions : as in, you try to schedule in as many as possible, even if they're not "good/perfect" revisions, you know? It's literally not possible to get into the depth of each and every topic / concept they ask in neet, in any of the three subjects. Some chapters will be less well prepared / known than others, but don't stress about that, just keep solving the questions and at one point, you'll realise most of them revolve around certain specific segments / facts from the obscure topics, and u just need to know only those points!

Apart from that, personally speaking, my struggle was with organic chem (I still hate it with all my heart 🤢🤮). I was mentally prepared to flunk entire segments from that because literally most of it went over my head rip, but simultaneously, I had to balance it out with my scores from physics (my fav), bio, and inorganic chem. And thankfully that worked out smh lol

If you're an Aakash student like me (overlooking their terrible business practices, bc truthfully their material and classes helped me a lot 🙈) then cover ALL their study mat religiously. It goes for whichever coaching institute ur taking classes from (if any).

If that doesn't apply to you, then buy 10 years or 15 years qbanks asap (usually publishers like Arihant or Tata McGrawHill have some test series books n stuff like that) and start solving them.

TIME YOURSELF. I cannot stress this enough.

If your actual test time is 3 hours, try to solve the paper in under 1.5 hours at home, cuz believe me, the faster you push urself to solve the questions, the better you'll get at calculations, and time management, and knowing which questions to spend time on, and which Q to come back later to. Start w your strongest subject = least time consuming one (it was bio for me) then progress to the most difficult subject. Keep the bigger calculations in the physics paper for the last, if you're not confident enough w that particular formula/concept.

These were some general tips I could think of, off the top of my head. Hope they help :)

Writing a Practical Spirit Contract

Spirit contracts are formal agreements between a practitioner and spirits to get certain results in exchange for offerings. Contracts are best when something has multiple components that should play out a certain way to meet the goal the best, succeed in succession, or where there are multiple highly related requests. They're unnecessary for simple goals, or to successfully complete just one part of a process.

For an example of a type of situation that warrants a good contract: let's say you want to get a boyfriend/girlfriend. Well first you have to put yourself out there, if you aren't already. And you have to make sure that you're getting out at the right places: you're more likely to score a date at a bar or classes than a grocery store! Then you must attract or meet the right people, and dissuade those you aren't compatible with. After that you have to succeed on several dates.  So in this process, there are several components that must go right in succession.

On the other hand, if your goal is simply to "attract love", then a spell or a simple offering to a spirit would be best. It is too broad and unfocused for a contract; there are many ways that attracting love can manifest.

Writing Spirit Contracts

Writing spirit contracts is timely, but relatively simple. Like a real contract, a spirit contract should have these basic components:

Writing a contract is beneficial to both the practitioner and spirit. For the practitioner, it can help you to solidify and focus on what, and how many things, should go right, and in what way is "right", for you to manifest a long-term goal. For the spirit, it helps to clarify exactly where they should come in. It tells them what factors are out of the practitioner's direct control, or where the practitioner has weak control.

Contracts should only be with spirits you trust: to not to harm you, and to actually manifest results.

There is no point in going through the effort of making such a lengthy and specific deal if you cannot trust the other spirit to not twist your words, and to actually bring the goals to fruition. If you have never been able to manifest a goal with clear communication of deadlines and ability limitations with the spirit you have in mind, then look to another. It's better to hear "that is beyond my capabilities" than "wait" and "wait..."...but the goal never happens, or happens several years later when that length of time isn't warranted. This should be a spirit that you have a practical working partnership with, not simply friendship.

Additionally this needs to be a spirit you can communicate with, clearly, directly, and truthfully. This should not be a spirit that:

You hesitate to question, such as a god or goddess

You cannot contact frequently

You struggle to communicate with clearly, whether it be through clairaudience or some form of divination

This should be a spirit that you can call up frequently to ask questions, check on progress, or provide information on what you have done on your side to bring the goal to fruition.

The contracts can be as formal or informal as you wish them, as long as the above components are included. Therefore, using first or third person to refer to yourself is up to you. But if you really want to be particular or formal, go with third.

Now, for more detail on each component of the contract:

I. Who?

A contract needs to list who both sides are. List yourself first. Whether you use your magical name or real name, or any other name or nickname to identify yourself is up to you.

My name is X, I am the requestor of this contract.

Then list your spirit(s). It is best to be as specific as possible, including their ranking or title if they have any.

For this contract, I am asking for the assistance of Librarian Spirit Y, who resides in the Library of Woah.

II. Terms

List your goals, ideal or possible methods of achieving them, and actions, events, or methods that should be avoided. It should be clear where the spirit should interfere, boost, or otherwise aid with their magical abilities. It may help to say where the spirit can use their own best judgement, though that's not always necessary to include. It is beneficial to also include what you are doing on your side to try and bring the goal to fruition.

This can be in paragraph form, List form, or a mixture. Whatever you are comfortable with.

Example of Paragraph Form:

I am trying to study well to pass my Biological exam with an A. However, I struggle to focus due to the noise level of the library, and I am not certain what to study. Straight memorization is also not a strong suit of mine. I ask that you kindly aid in controlling the noise level in the library, whether it be by quieting other students or helping me to find a quiet study location, or other means. Please guide me to figure out what to study, by helping me figure out who I should talk to (How should I approach the teacher/TA? What classmates of mine know what they're doing? Which tutors would be best for me?). And please use your magical abilities to boost my capacities for memorization as well.

List Form:

Goal: Study well to pass Biological exam with an A

Issues/Where Aid is Needed:

Control level of noise in the library, particularly where I study

Guidance on what to study; and who to ask about that

Boost my memorization capabilities

What I am doing on my side:

Studying for 1 hour daily, from 7-8 PM

Exploring the library more to see if there are other, less-popular areas I'm not aware of

Asking my older friends who've taken this class before what the exam was like

III.Rewards

The purpose of rewards is to motivate the spirit to complete the task(s) successfully, of course. The reward should be an offering of some sort; whether it be at traditional offerings such as food or incense, or a service such as picking up litter.

For multi-part tasks, or tasks where partial completion is possible, I suggest having partial rewards. As the name states, it won't be the same as a full reward; it will only be part of the reward, or an offering that is not as valuable to the spirit.

Example:

Bio is my weakest subject, so I usually get C's on them. So rewards are as thus:

Full Reward: I receive an A on my bio exam

I will clean up some of the grafitti in the bathrooms I can access (ones made with permanent marker, pen, or pencil)

I will leave offerings of coffee and tea in my dorm room, daily, for one week

Partial Reward: I receive a B on my bio exam

I will clean up some of the grafitti in the bathrooms I can access (ones made with permanent marker, pen, or pencil)

No Reward: I receive a C or lower on my bio exam

IV. Timelines

All contracts need to have a timeline. This lets both sides know how long they are bound by the terms.

Consider the following:

Is there a specific deadline to your goal? "The exam is on March 31st."

Is there a timeframe? "If you qualify for an interview, we will call you within the next two weeks."

Or will it be a renewing, long-term service? "I seek your protection for a full year. This contract will renew each year on the Spring Equinox."

V. Signature

First you must confirm with the spirit if they agree to the terms of the contract. This can be done by simply speaking with the spirit via clairaudience, or may be confirmed via divination.

Once both parties agree to the terms, both will sign it. On the practitioner's side that's easy, simply sign your name on the contract, or with a seal that represents you. For the spirit to sign is a bit trickier. If the spirits have their own seals or sigils, such as the demons from the Ars Goetia, then place that on the contract. If not, then ask the spirit if they have a signature of their own to use; whether it be a sigil or an actual signed name, and use that. Or, do automatic writing, with your hand guided by the spirit, to sign the contract on their behalf.

The Final Compontent: Starting and Working the Contract

The above was just writing the contract, here is how it'll play out

You write your side of the contract, as much as possible

Summon the spirit, present the contract and discuss it. Ask if there are any changes it would like

Confirm and agree the contract with the spirit, and sign it.

Once the contract has begun, communicate with the spirit on the regular. Progress checks and informing of issues should be done on both sides. For example, if you have a yearly contract for protection, check in on a regular basis to ask if there has been any suspicious activity that has gone unnoticed by you.

When the contract has been completed, partially completed, or the deadline has passed, discuss the contract once more. What went wrong/right, and what rewards are justified?

Contracts are a useful tool that can help spirit workers to list and achieve what they aim in life, while building a practical and fulfilling relationship with the spirits they work with.

It feels as if only I'm left behind and everyone else is succeeding. Maths is my weakness and I'm doing so hard to overcome it, but, it still seem as if something is wrong. first off, identify the source of your problem. are you having trouble with time management? are you not studying enough on your weakest areas? are you not understanding the concepts from the beginning? be as brutally honest with yourself as you possibly can. if you can’t identify your problem, ask a close friend or your teacher for the genuine truth.��

next, fix the problem. if it’s time management, develop more self-discipline and a better schedule for yourself. if you’re not studying enough on certain parts, make sure you allocate more time towards that. if you’re not understanding the topic, try different study methods that are more efficient for you. 

you’re the one who knows yourself best, so be honest with yourself, find the root of the problem, and address it in the best way you can. good luck!

Bio

        Grabora is the peak of Graboid evolution, a titanic subterranean predator that far dwarfs its small relatives. This adaptable kaiju can be found world wide, but it prefers to stick to the American Southwest and Midwest, where the lack of numerous mountains and the abundance of flat open space works best to its advantage. It similarly enjoys the deserts of Africa, Australia, and Asia for this reason. It also prefers to stick to North and Central America due to the smaller amount of other burrowing kaiju found there as opposed to other continents. With very little competition in North America, it is able to carve out a substantially larger territory than it would be able to in other regions.

        Physically Grabora resembles the typical American Graboid with some notable exceptions. Its body shape is more similar to that of Baragon, with a short, rounded torso, and a short tail coming off the end. Grabora also has two sets of clawed limbs, each limb ending in a large spade like claw. The back claws are larger and wider while the front claws are shorter but sharper. Grabora’s whole body is covered in overlapping plated scales, acting like chainmail for the kaiju. These scales lie flat against the body but are raised and pointing on its tail. On the subject of its tail, Grabora’s tail is very similar in function to an Ass Blaster tail. With a shake of its tail it mixes a cocktail of explosive chemicals which are released in a concentrated explosion from a hole at the tip. This shaking makes a rattling noise caused by the looser raised scales, which also acts as a warning to any attacking kaiju. Finally, its head is nearly identical to that of an American Graboid, but with thicker, more robust mandibles. The upper beak has two rows of serrated growths on the roof of the beak, acting like teeth. In its mouth are three tentacles, each capable of stretching 20 meters, and each tentacle comes equipped with two pairs of sensory horns, capable of sensing body heat, and a set of jaws, lined with rows of jagged teeth.

        Grabora may be impressive compared to other Graboids, but is a lower tier kaiju when compared to similar burrowing beasts from around the world. It has an especially fierce rivalry with the other large burrowing kaiju found in the America’s, Amerigon and El Gusano Gigante. It is because of El Gusano in particular that Grabora doesn’t go further south than Mexico since the larger kaiju has attempted to Grabora on several occasions, leading to drawn out dangerous battles. Amerigon typically tries to avoid Grabora since Grabora consistently wins their own battles, but Amerigon’s presence has still kept Grabora away from the eastern United States despite Grabora’s high win rate. Still, Grabora will enter the Gulf of Mexico freely, which does place it at risk of earning Amerigon’s ire.

        Abilities wise Grabora is a rather unique kaiju. As previously mentioned it is capable of blasting fire from its tail, and it can use its beak and claws to tear apart any enemies of prey. Its tentacles can also be used to restraining larger foes and snag smaller prey. It can of course burrow, and is one of the fastest burrowing kaiju on the planet, which is useful for both chasing down food and running away from greater threats. It is even capable of leaping into the air from below the ground, not dissimilar to a shark leaping from the ocean to grab a meal. To enhance its jumps it can use its tail blasts to further propel itself upwards, greatly increasing its jumping height. Like the Pacific Shrieker, Grabora possesses a sonic shriek which can be used to incapacitate other kaiju. It is thought that the reason Amerigon’s have much smaller ears than their Eurasian counterparts is due to evolving alongside Grabora’s kind, since smaller ears and less sensitive hearing makes them better suited to fighting off Grabora attacks. Grabora’s most fascinating ability however, is its numerous forms it takes depending on what environment it spends time in. It is unknown what causes it to be able to change into these different forms, and how it is able to do so in such a timely manner since Grabora only needs a few days to change its form to suit its environment. Below is a list of all of Grabora’s current known forms.

Base         It's typically coloration and the form most commonly associated with Grabora. Has a very similar coloration to the American Graboid, with a grey head and a greyish brown body. It does however have a metallic sheen across its body due to the metals incorporated into its scales while digging. Its abilities such as its speed, beak hardness, scale hardness, and blasting power are predictably average which is understandable given this is its base form.

Desert         Grabora’s second most common form. Colorization wise it is lighter than its base form but otherwise has no other noticeable differences. It is the fastest form however, and is also the lightest. Its scales are smoother as well which helps increase its speed. Its claws are however softer than normal as well as its scales. Its blasting power is slightly weaker than its base form but does come out faster. This form is closest to its base form.

Mountain         A rarer form spotted around the mountains of Arizona, hence the name. The mountain morph is a bright red in color, with darker red splotches found on its back, head, and tail. This form has the second strongest set of jaws and claws, which are necessary in order for it to dig through the rock of the mountains. Its blasting power is more explosive than normal, perfect for blasting away both enemies and mountainous rock. It is also nicknamed the landslide form.

Swamp         At first mistaken for as a brand new kaiju, the swamp form is possibly the most different form taken by Grabora. Grabora turns a dark green, with its head turning a lighter green and both the tip of the tail and the lower mandibles turning a light yellow. Grabora’s underside takes on a bright red coloration with black markings throughout, resembling a fire belly newt. This form has the softest scales, and its scales are especially soft on its belly. To compensate, this form is capable of secreting a thick mucus, which gums up any attacker's jaws. This forms blast is also highly aberrant, instead of coming out as an explosion, it instead produces a thick cloud of gas that it then ignites with a snap of its beak. The explosions produced aren’t the strongest, but do cover a very wide range. It also seems that Grabora becomes more unappetizing in this form since Amerigon reeled back in disgust when biting some of Grabora’s exposed flesh while he was in this form.

Tropical         This form is taken when Grabora decides to travel aquatically. With a gold head and back, as well as metallic aquamarine scales and ruby red claws, this form is considered by many to be its most eye-catching. Its blasts last longest of any form and is its primary method of swimming, alongside the occasional paddled from its claws. Its claws are the weakest out of any form since it hardly uses them while swimming. It takes this form on during the fall, feasting on the plentiful amount of sea life that congregates there during that time of the year.

Oil Field         This form is thought to be a mutation of it’s artic form, brought about by extensive time spent in an oil field in Alaska, attracted to the field due to the vibrations caused by the mining for oil. It has a jet black head, and a rainbow colored shining body, like an oil slick. It has the greatest blast range of any form, with the fluids produced coming out less like an explosion and more like a flamethrower. It is also capable of setting itself ablaze, burning down everything around it.

Sulfuric Hot Spring         This form comes about from when Grabora extensively fought Jigora in Yellowstone National Park. The constant exposure to the corrosive springs bleached Grabora’s shell a neon green and turned his beak a neon yellow. This constant acidic exposure has also resulted in this form having the softest beak, but it compensates for this by now possessing acidic saliva. Its tail blasts are also different, the new chemicals in the tail no longer result in an explosive blast, but a superheating spray of corrosive fluid that both scalds and dissolves opponents in equal measure.

Hollow Earth         The strongest form Grabora takes on. Grabora undergoes metamorphosis into this form when he decides he needs to traverse the Hollow Earth. This form is a dark metallic red with hints of gold and bronze in its scales. This form has the strongest scales, claws, and beak but is also conversely the slowest form due to being weighed down by its new metallic armor. This form also has the hottest blast, capable of melting through solid bedrock in seconds. Grabora rarely takes on this form, and only does so when he needs to travel to other continents. This form also takes the longest to shift into, since it requires the consumption of a large amount of heavier metals to make its new armor.

Background Story: 
Akane Ito was neglected and emotionally abused from a young age due to her mother being extremely stressed from a recent divorce and losing a lot of her money. Though her mother eventually got her act together there was always an emotional distance between them. In Elementary school Akane was very irritable due to her mother and as such didn’t have many friends. She got in trouble for a lot of things that she didn’t actually do, it was eventually discovered that she was being framed by a bully who didn’t like her because she was so quiet and rude and also a “weird loner” after that her mother started to let her get away with anything for fear that she would punish Akane for another thing she didn’t do. Her mother did this because she wanted to mend the bond between her and her daughter but Akane just took advantage of this to allow her to do whatever she wanted (such as ignoring curfew, fighting back against bullies, talking back to authority, etc). When Akane got into kunugigaoka she easily made it to the B class, however, in her second year she got lazy and her grades started to slip and she began bordering on getting put in C class or even D class. Seeing this as her time to act like a proper mother again, Akari began closely monitoring Akane and becoming more strict. Because she wasn’t used to this, Akane got extremely stressed at all the attention, this caused her grades to slip completely and her attitude to become so snappy, rude, and disrespectful that she was moved to E class in her 3rd year. During this time she is extreamly distrustful of Korosensei and hates his guts all the way up to the civil war arc, where she is on team red, after that she warmed up to him slightly, even talking to him about why she is the way she is. However, this trust is compleatly broken after Korosensei slaps her and her classmates after they accidentally fell in that old guy. She hated him more than ever after that and was the coldest of all the students when he died, though she still shed a few silent tears due to the situation.

author’s note: i started writing this a looooong time ago during spring semester when i was taking bio and it isn’t that much, but i’ve been meaning to post it and since we’re in a jungwoo drought i decided why not. i hope you enjoy!

“Mia, your exam,”

Mia smiled politely as her professor handed her results back, looking over the scantron for her overall score. She sighed at the demeaning red 62% written at the bottom. Her paper contributed to the unfortunately large percentage of students that didn’t pass the exam. Mia sat through the rest of the lecture feeling quite disappointed, expecting more out of herself. Considering she had studied the past few nights, she had hoped to at least get a B or something close, not fail the entire exam. She knew science was her weakest subject and this wasn’t the first test she got a bad grade on, but it was the first one she had completely failed. The walk to her lab afterwards made her feel even worse, remembering that she still had a lab quiz to study for.

“Hey, Mia! What’d you get on the exam?” Johnny, a classmate in her lab group asked as he sat next to her. He was an old high school friend of Mia’s that automatically drifted to her since he knew no one else taking the course. They weren’t exactly close, but had enough mutual friends to be comfortable with one another and talk.

“I don’t want to say exactly but… I basically failed,” she frowned.

“Aw, it’s okay! If it makes you feel better, I only got a C- because of the curve,” he laughed at himself. “What about you, Jungwoo?”

Mia glanced at their other groupmate, Jungwoo, who sat in front of her. He was reading today’s pre-lab, prepping for their experiment of the day. He was always fairly quiet, only speaking when it was about their classwork or laughing every now and then at one of Johnny’s jokes. Mia often wondered about him, feeling like he had more to him that no one knew about but she didn’t want to pry into his personal life.

“Oh, I got an 86%. I just missed some of the multiple choice questions,” he said.

“An 86%?! That means you’re part of the like, four people that got their score curved up to an A, right?” Johnny asked in amazement and Jungwoo nodded, making his two peers look at him in awe.

“I could never,” Mia chuckled. “and I actually tried this time!”

“If you need help, I’m in the STEM Center before class every week,” Jungwoo mentioned.

“I have a break right before class, maybe I could meet up with you? Building 3900?”

“Yeah, 3900, right around the corner.” Jungwoo nodded.

“Sounds good, I’ll see you Thursday then!”

Mia was actually excited, happy to have someone she could study with that could help her get on track. It only took a few weeks into the semester for her to notice that studying alone wasn’t the best thing to do, finding herself constantly distracted by her phone or random Youtube videos instead of working on assignments. She never got any work done on her own, and figured that studying with Jungwoo would be a great way to be productive while socializing. She also realized it would be a way to get to know her classmate better, hoping it would allow her to see how he is outside of lab.

Two days later, Mia walked into the cafeteria to grab breakfast after her morning class as part of her weekly routine. She took her phone out to scroll through her contacts, stopping once she saw the name ‘Jungwoo(Bio)’.

‘Hi! Are you in the STEM center already?’

‘Yeah, I’m in the far left corner by the long tables. I can save you a seat if you want.’

‘That’d be great, thanks :-)’

Mia grabbed her toasted bagel and cream cheese before heading to Building 3900, just across the main science building. She had never actually been inside the building before, never really finding a reason to since she hadn’t taken a science class since high school. She made sure she signed in at the front desk computer before looking around, spotting the tall boy in the back corner like he said.

“Hi Jungwoo,” she greeted him, setting her things down onto the table.

“Oh, hi.” he gave her a small smile, looking up from his textbook. He was in the middle of highlighting a word, labeling it with a definition.

“Wow, you actually bought the textbook? She said it wasn’t required,”

“Yeah, she said that after I already ordered it so I figured I might as well use it. It’s actually pretty helpful,” he said. “Did you need help studying anything specific?”

“Um…” she paused, feeling a bit embarrassed. “I kinda need help with everything, really.”

“That’s okay,” he chuckled. “I’m here to help.”

Mia thanked him as he handed her his notes, showing her what was going to be on the next exam in the current chapter they were learning about. She noticed how neat everything was, from his handwriting to the way he organized all of his papers.

“You’re so organized,”

“Yeah, my roommate gets a little bothered by it sometimes, but it’s just a habit.” he said after she pointed out everything.

“Roommate?”

“I live with my friend Doyoung in the apartments just a few blocks away. My parents are always gone on business trips so I decided moving in somewhere with a friend would be less lonely.”

“Makes sense. Do you work?”

“I do, I work at a pet store not too far from here.”

Mia nodded as she listened, gradually learning more about Jungwoo as the study session went on. They’d go back and forth asking questions as they went through their notes, both of them slowly beginning to open up as time went on. After a while the two noticed the clock said 1PM and began to gather their things, heading to class together. 

This became a weekly schedule for them, Mia always meeting up with Jungwoo to study and hangout. It had gotten to the point where they would even meet up outside of campus, finding time between their schedules to study together at nearby cafes. Jungwoo quickly became someone Mia found comfort in, constantly reassuring her that she was doing great in school and helping her through difficult assignments or quizzes.

“Hey, are you two like… a thing?” Johnny nudged Mia’s arm one day during lab, Jungwoo on the other side of the room collecting samples.

“No, we’re not. Why?”

“I don’t know, you two seem pretty close now. Hanging out before class, studying with each other every week, sharing food. I wouldn’t be surprised if you guys ever got together,” he shrugged, going back to writing in his lab manual. “you guys would be cool as a couple.”

“What’s happening?” Jungwoo said as he sat back down, placing a beaker onto the table.

“Nothing, just asking Mia why you guys aren’t in love yet,”

“Good question,” Jungwoo laughed before going back to work.

Johnny raised an eyebrow at Mia, making her blush. She had to admit, Jungwoo was a handsome guy. He was tall, had a cute smile, a joyful laugh. She would often catch herself looking up at him during their study sessions, admiring his good looks. It was just an added bonus to his kindness, Mia appreciating how much he’s helped her this entire semester.

“Hey, Jungwoo, can I ask you something?” she said to him as they walked to the student parking lot after class like usual.

“Go ahead,” he said, swinging his keys around his finger.

“Are you free tonight?” she asked, knowing he didn’t have another class and it was his day off of work. She wouldn’t be surprised if he said no considering how tired he must be, but even if it was for just a little bit, she hoped that she could get some kind of quality time with him without having to look at the chemical equation of photosynthesis.

“I am actually, why? Did you need help with anything else this chapter?” he looked at her obliviously.

“No, I was just wondering... if you wanted to hangout? Not study, but go out or something?” she stopped in front of her car, looking up at him for an answer.

“I’m down to hangout, what were you thinking of doing?” he said causing Mia to pause for a bit, slightly panicking because she didn’t expect to get that answer from him.

“Um… I don’t know, to be honest. Do you want to go watch a movie?”

“Sure,”

The two agreed on meeting at Jungwoo’s for a movie night, not wanting to spend money on an actual movie at the theaters. Mia trusted him offering his place to hangout, everything she’s learned about him allowing her to enter his apartment with ease. 

She looked around with curious eyes as she set her stuff down on the couch, in awe at how clean and cozy his home was. The tables were clear, floor clean, shoes lined up neatly near the door. She observed the frames on the wall, seeing pictures of Jungwoo and his roommate together with their friends or family. She figured the two must have a close friend group, every picture including the same amount of people.

“Doyoung’s home but he’s probably napping or watching a drama,” Jungwoo mentioned. They settled on a Studio Ghibli film to watch after grabbing some snacks out of the pantry, sitting on the couch in the living room. Jungwoo sat on one side, Mia on the other. There was a comfortable silence all throughout the movie, both of them only making small comments at their favorite parts. Mia would glance at him every now and then only to see him focused on the movie, fully immersed into the plot. She began to wonder if she was just overthinking, letting Johnny’s words get to her head. She was just another classmate, a simple friend. There wasn’t much else to their relationship, nothing else could happen.

Soon enough the movie was over, the end credits scrolling across the screen. The clock on the wall only read 8:04pm, Mia thinking it was still too early for her to go home.

“Question,” Mia eyed the Nintendo Switch stood in front of the TV. “do you have Mario Kart?”

“Maybe,” Jungwoo grinned and Mia laughed before getting up to grab a controller, ready to beat him in every race.

The two spent the rest of that night playing Mario Kart and other multiplayer games, the room full of playful banter and yells. Mia found herself practically sprawled across the couch while Jungwoo sat on the floor in front of her, both of them concentrated on the bright screen in front of them. It was around 11:30 when she began to doze off, driving her bike off of the Rainbow Road course several times before falling asleep.

Mia woke up the next day in silence, the TV turned off and a Snoopy patterned blanket laid across her. She checked her phone to see that it was only 7:54am, a little earlier than she’d usually wake up.

“Oh, good morning,” Jungwoo turned around in the kitchen to spot her awake, placing a bagel onto a plate. “Cream cheese?”

Mia smiled as she nodded, acknowledging how he remembered a detail from her usual breakfast meal.

“Sorry for falling asleep on your couch, I meant to go home before midnight.”

“It’s okay, I really liked spending time with you,” he said and she blushed, remembering how he would high five or hug her whenever they passed a level in Super Mario Bros. They were small gestures, but considering they were never that physically close before, Mia enjoyed it all.

Mia headed to the bathroom to freshen up, opening the bathroom door to walk back to the kitchen only to bump into a tall figure.

“Oh, sorry! I didn’t think you were still here,” Doyoung apologized, letting her walk ahead of him.

“It’s okay,” she smiled politely before sitting next to Jungwoo at the dining table.

“Doyoung, this is Mia. She’s from my-“

“Yeah, yeah, I know. Your class, you talk about her all the time,” Doyoung waved his hand before heading towards the front door. “I’ll be at Jeno’s if you need me, bye! Nice meeting you Mia!”

Once the door shut Mia’s eyes darted to Jungwoo, whose cheeks turned red. He was looking down at his plate of food shyly, embarrassed at his roommate’s words.

“So, you talk about me?” she teased, taking a bite of her bagel. Jungwoo just laughed, struggling to make eye contact with her.

“I do talk about you, to be honest. I talk a lot about you,” he said. “you’re cute to me.”

Now Mia was the one blushing, taken aback by the sudden confession. She expected Jungwoo to only look at her as a friend, not get ratted out by his roommate that she had just met.

“I think you’re cute too, Jungwoo.”

The two continued to eat their breakfast like that, sharing shy giggles and quick eye contact. They weren’t sure as to how to go on with their mutual crushes on each other, both too scared to make the first move.

“Do you work today?” Mia asked as they washed the dishes together, standing side by side.

“I do, I work 12-8pm,” he nodded.

“I’ll pick you up at 8:30?”

“Yeah, that’d be nice. Another movie?” Jungwoo suggested. Mia agreed and the two grinned, carrying on with the dishes.

So rn, ion even have any followers but I’m posting anyways because I wanna motivate myself into actually doing some work. I don’t even know how tumblr works but I like it cause no one knows who I am so I can just ramble on and on hehehehehee :)) Anyways if anyone stumbles on this trash, I’m currently a yr 12 student from Australia who’s doing eng, bio, chem, maths meth ods (cause it’s lit rally on crack luv) and health. I’m very behind in everything esp Chem because I actually picked it up this year 🤡. The reasoning? Because I’m stubborn as heck last year who wanted to prove ppl wrong and was mildly interested in biomed. But I actually like Chem wth? It’s such a cool subject and I rlly like my teacher but we’re started organic chem and I DONT KNO SHITES. number one: know your assignment

this may seem like an easy one, but some people do forget! it’s important to know if your assignment is timed and for how long, what your deadline for any drafts are, and what you can bring into it. for example, for my biology assignment recently i found out i was able to bring in the instructions for candidates, which meant i didn’t have to memorise the structure of my report! 

number two: use every resource available to you

sometimes teachers will give you marking grids for your assignments or checklists for what you should be writing about. make sure to utilise these to the full extent and check off things as you go! understanding what teachers are looking for and the way things are marked can help you prioritise the areas to work and expand upon in your essay or write-up. my history teacher wrote up this checklist for us and i will be sure to use it in the coming weeks!

number three: write up a draft first!

drafts are something i always used to think were pointless but now i write up a first draft for everything i do! i then go back to the mark scheme or if possible give the draft to a teacher or tutor and make edits based on the feedback i get or the marking instructions.

number four: make flashcards (note: this is applicable if you have to write your assignment up under timed conditions)

this doesn’t necessarily work for everyone but especially in prescriptive subjects like history i transfer each section of my essay to flash cards based on the paragraph structure (e.g. PEE or KAA+Ev). i also do this for my history final exam where i will be asked two of around 12 essay questions available! in other subjects like biology i tend to only make flashcards for areas of the report that i feel are my weakest. for my recent assignment i made flashcards for only the underlying bio and evaluation sections! (pictured below). for languages i tend to make flash cards that summarise each section of my essay in english and also put a few key phrases in my language to remember when i’m writing that paragraph!

hopefully this helps you feel more prepared to take on a written assignment!! this really isn’t specific to highers, this is the same technique i’ve used since my nat 5s (gsce equivalent) and it works every time!

life update!

(i started writing this post almost a full year ago and must’ve forgotten about it in drafts! here was what was happening at the start of my junior year. my school offers a program where you can do the IB during your sophomore and junior year if you want to accelerate your high school career, and that’s what i did.)

hi everybody! my junior year of high school starts tomorrow, so i thought tonight would be a good time to put in an update with what my life will look like this fall and what classes i’m taking and why.

(i know my school probably starts a lot later than everyone else’s, my school district always starts classes on the wednesday after labor day in the us, and if anyone’s jealous i start so late, just keep in mind that my summer doesn’t start until the last few days of june)

in case anyone is curious, i finished my first year of IB in june, and i tested in biology SL and math SL in may. i got a 5 in biology and a 3 in math (i was 1 point away from a 4 in math) and i know those aren’t fantastic scores, but those are my weakest subjects and my goal was a 4 in both of them. at least a 3 and a 5 averages out to 2 4s!

i’m a currently behind on CAS reflections and will be writing some tomorrow before school starts, and my TOK class doesn’t start til next week i believe, although i actually haven’t heard anything from my TOK teacher. 

at my school, TOK isn’t part of the regular school day, we have it either before or after school. i’ll be taking it before school for 1 hour 3 days a week, but i don’t know which days yet.

also, at my school you have to have a full extended essay draft turned in by the time you begin your second year. our drafts are due on friday. i’m behind on mine but i’ll be working really hard to write as much as i can this week. don’t follow my example, write a lot during the summer and it will save your butt during second year. 

my ee topic is “The Effectiveness of the Seattle Plan in Desegregating the Seattle Public Schools”, and it’s a local history topic (i heard the IB really loves those and i really love my city’s history)

the classes that i’ll be starting tomorrow are:

AP statistics - i wasn’t planning on taking a math class (or a science) this year since i tested in both last year, but i couldn’t take all 6 classes i had planned on taking so i decided math would be the best class to replace orchestra with in order to get a good reaction from the colleges i apply to. AP stats is said to be really easy at my school so i’m hoping it won’t be too hard for me. 

IB music SL - this is my IB elective of choice and my third SL. i’m hoping to score a 6 or 7 in music to make up for my 3 and 5 in math and bio.

IB english literature A HL year 2 - english HL as a first language is required by my school, but i also would have chosen to take this class if i had had the option. i also chose lit, not lang + lit. i’m aiming for a 6 or 7 in lit.

IB spanish B HL year 2 - i felt like spanish was my best choice HL, so i chose to take it and i’m also hoping to get a 6 or 7 in it.

IB history HL year 2 - my school also requires that we take HL history as part of our state’s high school graduation requirements, but again, i would have chosen to take HL history anyway, without the requirement. i’m also hoping for a 6 or 7 in history, because it’s one of my favorite classes and i like to think i’m pretty good at it.

If you’re curious, I was absolutely not a perfect student during my time in the IB. I wrote most of my IAs, my EE, and my ToK essay at the last minute (literally the very last minute - I pulled an all-nighter to finish my ToK essay and turn it in by 7:30 in the morning, and I skipped class to finish my EE and print it out to turn it in at lunch on the day it was due. I finished my CAS reflections after exams, although my coordinator did let us do that because he was so overwhelmed with exams to keep up with CAS. Anyway, my point here is: you don’t have to be a great student or super organized and on top of it to finish a hard program like the IB. I most definitely wasn’t. All I did was made sure to make every IB deadline, no matter what deadlines my teachers set for drafts and things like that. And I did it! I got the diploma!

Biology - Clay Jensen imagine

I ring the doorbell and patiently wait for someone to let me in, I hold my books close to my chest and shift my weight from one leg to the other. My boyfriend Clay invited me over to his place to study for our upcoming biology test, he agreed to help me study as bio is my weakest subject. I hear loud footsteps scurry down the stairs and an out of breath Clay opens the door with a big smile.

“Hey!” he says eagerly, “come in.” he gestures his arm out leading me inside, he gives me a quick kiss on the cheek and leads upstairs to his bedroom. We walk into his room and he closes his door as I sit down on his bed, he grabs his books and takes a seat next to me. 

I look up at his closed door and point at it, “Parents not home?” I question laughing, every time I come over Clay’s mom demands we keep the door open even if we’re just doing homework.

“Nope.” he says emphasizing the “p” and smiling at me. 

“Okay let’s start,” I say opening my book, “so my main trouble is genetics.” I say as I flip through the pages.

“Uh before we start...” Clay says as he lifts my chin up with his finger and places a gentle kiss on my lips, I smile into the kiss and bring my hand up to cup his face. Clay slowly pulls away and smiles, “okay now we can start.” he says looking back down at his textbook.

“Cheeseball.” I mutter under my breath.

We get in a good 40 minutes of studying when Clay starts to get restless, it started by him testing me on equations and every time I got an answer right he would give me a kiss on the lips, this opened a gate. He then starts playing with my fingers as I try and write down definitions and intertwines his fingers with mine. I ignore it because I can write with my other hand but then he starts to kiss my arm up to my shoulder. 

“Clayyyy.” I start to whine throwing my head back in annoyance, by now he's moved my hair behind my shoulder and starts kissing my neck, “Babe you know I’d love to do this but not right now, I can’t fail this test.” I try to reason with him but it’s hard when he gets all clingy and affectionate like this. He usually isn’t like this and is very keen on studying and being a good student but he’s been hanging out with Jeff a lot lately so that may be why he’s acting more affectionate.

I turn my head and look him in the eyes giving him my best mad face but he just smiles and kisses me on the lips again, I can’t help but bring my hands up to his neck and run my fingers through his hair. We kiss for a few minutes until I pull away and he whines.

“Just a little study break please?” he asks pouting, he gives me his best puppy dog eyes and I can’t help but give in.

“Alright, just a little break.” I compromise pointing my finger in his face, he nods his head rapidly and takes my pointed finger and kisses it. I giggle and push him on his bed so he’s laying down with me on top of him, this counts as studying Biology right?

Just a little imagine I had to get out of my head! Currently working on more request I got, I work all day Saturday so they should be up on Sunday! Please request more!
