Canada's Super Bowl LIX commercial Warning to Americans:
Lights Out, Jobs Gone, and how Canada can easily Cripple America Overnight
By: Ki Lov3 Feb 10, 2025 (c)
Tumblr media
During Super Bowl LIX, millions of Americans sat glued to their screens, expecting to see the usual mix of beer commercials and blockbuster movie trailers. Instead, they were met with a chilling message from Canada.
The ad, titled "Your Ally to the North," wasn’t selling a product. It wasn’t promoting tourism. It was a not-so-subtle reminder that Canada holds the keys to something Americans take for granted every single day—electricity and jobs.
Canada’s Hidden Power Over the U.S. Grid
Most Americans don’t realize just how dependent their country is on Canada for electricity and employment. Right now, 37 major transmission lines connect the U.S. and Canada, forming an integrated power grid that allows electricity to flow freely across the border. From New England to the Midwest, millions of homes, businesses, and even critical infrastructure rely on Canadian power.
And if Canada flipped the switch? Major cities would go dark. Hospitals, factories, airports—crippled. The economy? Devastated.
But the real disaster wouldn’t just be in blackouts—it would be in job losses. The American manufacturing industry is powered by cheap, reliable Canadian electricity, allowing factories to stay open and millions of workers to stay employed. Without that power, those jobs vanish overnight.
Why Would Canada Drop This Bombshell Now?
It’s no coincidence that Ontario spent a staggering $8 million on a 30-second spot during America’s biggest game of the year. The timing is crucial.
Recent U.S. policies are exerting pressure on Canada as tensions over trade disputes, tariffs, and political instability increase. The target audience for this advertisement was not Washington politicians. It was a stark warning to the American people that if trade ties worsen further, it would be common Americans who suffer, not politicians.
The subtext was crystal clear: "If you want to keep the lights on and keep your jobs, you better treat us right."
Who Is Actually Stealing American Jobs?
Trump's Hypocrisy. President Trump has been telling Americans for years that jobs are being taken by unauthorized immigrants. He isn't telling you, though, that his own policies are endangering millions of American jobs. Trump is doing precisely what he claims immigrants do: taking employment from Americans, by undermining a century-old U.S.-Canada power agreement that has sustained the American economy.
There will be more than simply higher electricity costs if Canada reduces its power exports. It means American manufacturers will come to a standstill, workers will be laid off, and entire industries would close.
There will be millions of job losses. So, consider this: Who is the true danger to American employment? Is Trump blaming the immigrants or himself?

What If the U.S. Tries to Take Control? 🪖🇺🇲
Tumblr media
What if the U.S. government, under pressure from blackouts and public outrage, forcibly seized Canadian power stations?
It sounds like a dystopian nightmare, but in a world where economic warfare is becoming more common, it’s not unthinkable. If an administration were to take such an extreme measure, it would lead to:
🌎International Chaos – A blatant act of aggression against a longtime ally, sparking diplomatic crises, economic retaliation, and possibly even military consequences.
🔌Grid Collapse – The U.S. power grid isn’t designed to suddenly replace massive amounts of lost electricity. A Canadian energy embargo could take years to fix, leaving parts of America in permanent energy shortages.
💲Skyrocketing Prices – Even a brief disruption in power imports could send electricity costs through the roof, crippling industries and draining Americans’ wallets.
This Wasn’t Just an Ad—It Was a warning ⚠️
Canada’s "Your Ally to the North" campaign was anything but friendly. It was a strategic reminder of a truth most Americans don’t think about: our lights, our jobs, and our way of life are more dependent on Canada than we ever realized.
With tensions rising, it’s time for Americans to ask a hard question:
What happens if the north decides we’re no longer worth helping?
The answer?
You might want to:
✅start buying candles🕯️
✅looking for a new job 💼
✅Shop for new country &/or president 🇺🇲

America needs MAX PARTICIPATION for the economic blackout this Friday. This thing is snowballing fast because so many reasons are popping up for why people are doing it (including some "what it's really about" lists). A short list:
-inflation/the egg thing
-protesting the trend of corporations getting bigger and richer and more powerful while normal people are finding it harder and harder to keep up with the cost of living
-protesting corporations who heard Trump say diversity is out and went "Oh thank God" and immediately dropped (sorry, "didn't renew") their DEI policies, their support for the LGBTQ+ community, all of it
-protesting consumerism/huge corporations in general
-Trump giving a giant chainsaw of power to Musk and they are literally having fun with it
-the giant, reckless cuts Trump is making in general
-Jon Schwarz started a grassroots movement for government accountability and corporate reform and is going to make a million bucks this week selling Tshirts of his Blackout Tour
-moderate Republicans, Trump leavers, and even Trump supporters are starting to realize that Trump needs reining in from every angle possible because wow.
IT DOESN'T MATTER, at least not on Friday. The point is that the energy this has gathered is part of a wider pool of protests, boycotts, spending freezes, etc. that are gathering steam fast. And that's a good thing, because this Friday, Feb 28th, has become a productive, nonviolent flashpoint. There is so much anger and fear building right now in America and this is a good, healthy way for it to emerge. But if participation is too spotty, it will lead to absolutely nothing.
So please, less gatekeeping and more welcoming. Honestly, for the sake of max participation, if even one of these reasons matter to you, or matters to people that you care about, please participate.
Tl;dr: What is Friday really about? It's about momentum. Please, participate.

I lied. Put your clothes back on. We're going to talk about how 7:02-7:03, a split second of Green Day's Jesus of Suburbia music video, is one of the most perfect beautiful seconds of any music video. Ever. It's exactly what should go there. I see it on the inside of my eyelids when I blink.

Legacies by Nikki Giovanni
her grandmother called her from the playground
       “yes, ma’am”
“i want chu to learn how to make rolls” said the old
woman proudly
but the little girl didn’t want
to learn how because she knew
even if she couldn’t say it that
that would mean when the old one died she would be less
dependent on her spirit so
she said
“i don’t want to know how to make no rolls”
with her lips poked out
and the old woman wiped her hands on
her apron saying “lord
       these children”
and neither of them ever
said what they meant
and i guess nobody ever does

Yesterday 90% of the people in my country was without electricity bc the transational company (Enel) that controls most of the services had "a problem". For hours people was without this resources showing how we have constructed society around it thoughtless of its implications. Once Chile owned its electricity but, of course, one of the dictatorship that USA made us took that also from us and since then it has be owned by companies of any other country except us. Spain, China, Italy, some funders of one of the present companies can't be traced bc they probably were nazis or the other colonialist germans that exterminated our indigenous people, and other of the present companies is own by Alberta Investment Management Corp.(50%) and Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan(50%) which is even more disgusting bc the dictatorship also destroyed our education, teachers were forced to abandon the pension system of the state and change to the dictatorship usa imposed system. Many of them die in poverty and some died without ever had seen a cent of their money, most of them are poor and struggle to pay the electricity bill each month.
The terror campaign that the far right, the International far right and USA has keep on us for the last 50 years makes people think is Maduro and venezolanos the ones to blame, that the Peruanos (Perú) and the Brazileños (Brazil) could also be responsable. Someone say it was a meteor the responsable. People thinks everyone is to blame in place of the transational itself which also has control of this resource in other South American countries.
In the other hand, people was blaming the government and demanding answers when is not a state service. People at the same time thinks that private companies and transationals can do whatever they want bc if not that means the state is a dictatorship and that the president is a king that can do whatever they want and do everything and knows everything bc they don't know how a state works nor how burocracy or a democracy works. People doesn't ask why the transational has increased to the double the cost of the service, why is not nationalized, why there is constant problems and no indemnity, why last year a storm fucked it and left people without electricity for days, why in the terrible earthquake of 2010 we were without electricity for weeks. They also not wonder why the upper class areas have generators and why the transnational put more effort to return the services for them first as well the tranational mining companies that are killing us.
The private company service of "public" transportation that owns the subway don't have generators for emergencies in all its tunnels and didn't return the cost of the ticket to all people, yet no one wonders why about this things. No one ask why the private company that provides the service of "public bus transportation" wasn't providing the services even when they should had. People thinks both services are from the state but also that is a private company in some sense. People doesn't know how the country works nor that we own anything, yet they think that private companies are the pinnacle of society and goodness. This people don't remember that last time we tried to nationalize resources USA killed our president and make a dictatorship that by all means still control us to this very day. People think that knowing history and knowing USA crimes is wrong, immoral, "communist" (they don't know what communism is) and uncivilised. People no finds strange that simultaneous fire begun in the street in which the heart of the state is, the ministries buildings and other states buildings with their people as well and our Palace of government, La Moneda, were the president works and that the building has the bullet holes of the Pinochet dictatorship created by USA for you information and as a effort to keep memory of this, of all the killings and tortures and the assassination of our president that was made look like a suicide. Yesterday was the anniversary of the murder of Tucapel Jiménez at hands of usa trained agents of the dictatorships with 5 bullets to the head and the cut of his throat after bc 8 days before he said that the workers must keep unionised and form a unity with workers of other areas. His murder was blamed on a carpenter that was also murdered. and they tried to make it pass as a suicide. Yesterday our president was in the commemoration presenting his respects. No one can point me for wondering. Especially when recently our country and president received a menacing letter from american insurance group bc our chambers and president approved a little modification to make a little less bad the health insurance and pensions.
The transational still not gives answers to what happened. Whatever it was is not gonna face any consequence. Even if was an USA attack to force us to give them all out lithium and force us to buy Musk and USA tech, no one will question it, what's more, ppl will think that a soft imperialism and a soft dictatorship is desirable and that will make us white, blond, rich and usamericans-europeans. Tiktok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, the Internet in general and the news in general around the world will support this. We gonna become even more poor and stupid and sacrificial zones will grow and more cities and towns will become one.
No one remembers how every time USA runs out of money they go to take it from South America, like when they made the opium crisis and the cartels and cults to fund Operation Condor to then fund USA. But hey, let's ignore the 200 years of USA control and 7 coups that funded just in Chile and all the massacres/genocides and installations of companies that have us in enslavement, nah, it can't be that, can't be a problem caused by the transational don't maintaining the structures and systems, nor the global warming causing problems in tech, no, no, it must be the invisible non-existent communists and/or the countries that we hate bc they are not blond nor white and have some of them migrate here. Yes, that must be. Gonna hate the haitian or the fascist venezuelan that is as fascist as ur regular chilean in place of demand that the company pays for the deaths of the electric dependent patients or other people for the loss of electricity, the damage to equipment or the decomposition of food.
