<3 Big jacket update <3

After months of figuring out what to make my back patch I realised the perfect inspo was Heavenly’s “riot twee” shirt design! It felt very me (although I did take some creative liberties with the colours)

I’m insanely proud of this! It came out so clean and accurate to the original design and I didn’t even use a stencil for it! Also the lace detail around the edge turned out beautiful too. I’ve only been making patches/DIY properly for a year now but I’ve seen myself improve so quickly and I’m glad this is a representation of how that has culminated.

Until another big idea strikes again I might leave the jacket alone for a little while and focus on some pants I’ve started which has no particular theme - it’ll just be more music I like of multiple styles jumbled together.

I cannot wait until it is cold enough again to wear this to a gig (even though there’s only one-two other people in my scene who fully get my twee(mo) self amongst a sea of punks, hardcore kids, and metalheads)

got any heavenly (band) stamps? could be Tallulah gosh and parallel horizontal ones too, any band that Amelia Fletcher was in to be honest! ^_^ also mf Doom, pavement, tv girl, and dazey and the scouts stamps if u have any.. sorry if this seems like a lot! (I have a crippling addiction to stamps)

Heavenly  - Atta Girl (Sarah Records)

#AttaGirl de Heavenly es básicamente un EP que narra una historia repulsiva en poco menos de 15 minutos, a la vez que muestra lo que una banda anhela rara vez: romper con sus orígenes para crear un material que contrarrestara el sonido que dominaba “la escena”. 

Pero esta grabación caus�� el efecto contrario: hizo de la banda uno de los actos definitivos del sonido “twee” en Gran Bretaña. Y es que en Atta Girl (1993) se escucha a la banda sonar más “celestial” que nunca, baterías alegres, guitarras a la #JoeySantiago y letras con mayor profundidad narrativa de lo que en su momento les permitió Talulah Gosh, agrupación de donde surge Heavenly. 

En su momento, Amelia Flecther, líder de la banda, comentó en una entrevista para Penny Black Music que Atta Girl le permitió a Heavenly ser "menos obsesionadas con hacer punk rock y más por hacer buenas canciones y tocarlas bien”, y eso es justo lo que ofrece este EP: 5 grandes canciones que muestran una evolución sin filtro de una banda.

Para el año siguiente, Heavenly lo había conseguido: ya no eran más las chicas punk de Oxoford obsesionadas con los beatniks. Eso sí, sin dejar de lado el toque irónico y audaz en las letras de Amelia, que incluso sigue sacando de vez en cuando en uno que otro proyecto, como lo hace desde hace más de 30 años.
