NFL Week 8
This weekend of wideout play left me hanging on the edge of my seat. Them boys down in Miami are truly exciting to watch. “The Blur Brothers” a moniker given to them by yahoo sports, should be splitting the WOW (wideout of the week) award if not for the performance by A.J. Brown of the Philadelphia Eagles. The duo set a new record with the most receiving yards by teammates through eight games with 1,688 respectively. Tyreek Hill is on pace to surpass former Detroit Lions wideout Calvin Johnson’s 2012 record setting season of 1,964 yards with 2,042. Hill and Jaylen Waddle are #1 and #4 with 961 and 727 yards. I believe with the way Hill and Waddle are playing they could set another first by being the first pair to amass 1,500 yards receiving in the same season. Mr. Hill caught 12 balls for 188 yards and had a drop on a deep over route that surely would’ve put him past 200 yards on the day. Hill did not score but his partner in crime, Jaylen, found the end zone twice on an 8 catch afternoon that totaled 106 yards. I hope the dynamic duo play all 17 games so we as fans can sit and watch greatness unfold. A year after many-including myself didn’t think Tyreek would produce the way he has after leaving Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Wideout of the Week award goes to Mr. Brown and we not talking James Brown; although the way his feet looked A.J. could be mistaken for the Godfather of Soul. A.J. had an incredible 6 catch day for 156 yards and 3 TD’s. Yes, Brown completed the hat-trick performance. On his first touchdown he caught a 43-yard bomb between two defenders bailing out his quarterback on a pass I thought should’ve been intercepted. The corner whomever he is should’ve been on suicide watch after the game. A.J. Brown caught his two other touchdowns on quick fade (25yards or less) in the same spot (right corner end zone) and almost had a 4th TD on a pass he dropped. The concentration on each of his touchdowns were remarkable and when this kid plays like this I really become enthralled watching him perform.
In just his second game back DeAndre Hopkins put on a clinic. The 9-year veteran caught 12 balls for 159 yards and 1 sweet ass touchdown. Hopkins caught an eye popping 1-hand catch for 6 points on a stutter route that left safety Harrison Smith looking stupid. Hopkins caught a gamut of routes and appeared to not miss a beat. I love how he got to a defender’s blind spot on a comeback early in the game. With him back the Cardinals could have a chance to make a late season push to secure a wildcard spot in the playoffs.
My surprise wideout this season is no other than Alabama legend Amari Cooper. I like many fans were bedazzled at Cooper’s ability. He checks all the boxes when dissecting the wideout position. After getting traded to the Cleveland Browns I honestly didn’t see him doing what he’s doing. Especially when I consider how many times he would take plays off in Dallas and still does in Cleveland. But outside of that I can tell two things are certain when observing Mr. Cooper. The first thing is he still takes getting off press extremely serious. When defenders line up pressed against him Amari destroys them. It’s alluring too. If the ball isn’t coming to him he doesn’t play hard nor fast. But when the ball is coming his way especially when pressed he transforms into a whole different player. He has put on weight but during such instances I surely cannot tell. And he still has another gear as we witnessed on a 53-yard pass where he accelerated pass safety and corner for a fingertip diving play. Cooper finished the afternoon with 131 yards with a TD on 5 receptions.
I honestly had never heard of D.J. Moore until I checked the stats gen from NFL.com to see who eclipsed 100 yards receiving. While watching his tape I can see why I hadn’t heard of him. He dropped a few balls on what I would consider easy catch plays. And because of this I thought he was a rookie until finding out he’s a 5th-year pro. I’m not one to harp on drop balls. They happen and they are apart of playing the position. The catch Moore had to tie the game was reminiscent of the jump ball Aaron Rodgers threw to tight-end Richard Rodgers years ago in a game against the Arizona Cardinals that went into overtime. The fingertip touchdown catch of 62 yards behind a Falcons prevent defense that shouldn’t have let Moore get behind them, was a catch that should be nominated for play of the year. He looked explosive on his jet sweeps and outside of his occasional drop I look forward to Moore building on his 6 catch 152 yard performance.
Mike Evans eclipsed the 100 yard mark with 123 yards by way of 6 receptions. I’m noticing a few drops this season by Evans which is uncharacteristic of him. Evans did catch a deep ball showing great concentration but on similar plays he appears lethargic and makes no attempt to aggressively play balls that are under thrown. Garrett Wilson is another wideout I’ve never heard of until this weekend. Maybe because he plays for the awful but improving New York Jets. Mr. Wilson caught 6 balls for 115 yards with zero tub’s. He looked good on a 22-yard jet sweet and I’m looking forward to his hard work getting him in the end zone.
Terry McLaurin of the Washington Commanders is another wideout added to my list of unknowns. His game did the talking this weekend. McLaurin had a sweet jump ball near the goal-line of a pass that should’ve been intercepted. Early in the game he ran a stutter-in route and raced for a 40 yard+ gain. His team isn’t that good so unless he continues to eclipse the 100 yard mark that gets you talked about on this blog…this could be our last time hearing about him.
Last but not least and definitely someone I love watching “HIM” Stefon “The Man” Diggs. Maybe from his time with the Vikings, it seemed as if the Green Bay Packers defenders had a vendetta against Diggs. One corner shit talked him in the tunnel before the game. Another corner tackled him late after he was beat on a stutter-go route for 6 points. And we know Diggs game shut them boys up after he finished the night with 108 yards on 6 catches. His lone score and a team did more talking than his words.
Next week I will have my top 5-10 mid season list ready. Wideouts let’s go, play fast, finish strong and annihilate all db’s!

Welcome everyone, to 'Amari draws fandom characters on sticky notes' !
Tumblr media
A bit of a mouthful, i'm aware. But that's not the point!
Now, with the end of one poll comes a new one. This poll will decide which character i'm going to draw tomorrow(or the day after? Not sure), and will be the first in a series of polls that decide which character i will be drawing each day.

Aphonic - a MLandersen0 fanfic
okayyy I'm not one to self-promo or whatever on here,,, but I've poured my heart and soul in this and want people to read it 😭
Tumblr media
LINKS:
'Aphonic'
a playlist for funsies:
some basic info on the fic:
-x reader
-gender neutral
-i'm calculating it being about 10 chapters more or less, but you never know.
-won't focus much on romance. it's a slowburn, and mostly focuses on how mental health affects friendships and relationships. (+ Slenderman's influence as well)
-story revolves around reader and Michael mostly.
-story switches between two periods of time; one is present, the other is flashbacks to the time when both reader and Michael are in the facility.
-every chapter title is a phrase in latin! not really important tbh, I just love latin and think it's cool. (also, i can use the Brutus/Julius Caesar metaphor with Shaun and Michael)
Tumblr media
Inspirations:
-biggest inspo is the book 'Girl In Pieces' by Kathleen Glasgow! highly recommend it, if you can handle heavy topics about mental health.
-another inspiration is also Girl, Interrupted. (mostly the 1999 movie, but a bit of the book as well)
-inspiration from music; listened to a lot of Fiona Apple, Jeff Buckley, Alex G, Elliott Smith, Adrienne Lenker and especially Kimya Dawson while writing the fic.
Tumblr media
some examples of the writing!:
Chapter 1: Sic Infits (So It Begins)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 2: Si vis amari ama (If you want to be loved, love.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
alright, that's all for now! ty for reading :3

THE MILVENING HAS BEGUN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's 114 contenders! Amazing job everyone!
we got 323 submissions and labored over every single one until approximately 2am, which is why this bracket looks so fucking incomprehensible. (shoutout to tumblr user asparagoos for creating The Milves Rubric and user pastramis, who plays fantasy football and knows brackets.)
anyway, full match-ups are below the cut. starting tonight (3/30) we'll start with uhh the upper left-hand chunk today, then make our merry way down the list three times a day until the first elimination round ends. the top scoring milves will not appear until the second elimination round, aka when this bracket is legible.

Dark Skin Directory
I did one of these for my sideblog BlackFemmeCharacterDependency (BFCD) and... While it’ll take longer on this end to do because there are more prominent figures here than on that one, I thought it would be good to also have one for my main...
EDIT: Okay, so the one that I did for BFCD does not work, so I am posting this one to see if it works, and if not, they’ll both be WIPS until I have the time to repair them
For the purposes of this list and on this page, whenever I say “dark skinned,” I mean a traditional brown crayon or darker. I grew up around Black people, so the words “dark skinned” do not mean the same thing to me as it do to nonblacks.

I still taste the past - Chapter 7
Relationships: Curufin/Finrod, Celegorm/Aredhel (background) Summary: Finrod wanted to see Curufin, get his closure after all they had gone through, end things once and for all. What he gets is a journey through the memory of where they've been and the choice of where they will go. TW: none. A/N: Enjoy!
Masterlist - Also on AO3
Tumblr media
Curufin looked to the side of his bed and sighed, it had been his suggestion, yes, but when he was alone he couldn't deny the hope that Findaràto had decided to defy him and stayed.
A year, a year of living off of stolen moments when others were sleeping or otherwise occupied, and Curufin could feel it taking it's toll on him in the tiredness that wouldn't leave. Ingoldo, he wanted to scream, Ingoldo, Ingoldo, Ingoldo.
He pushed away from the dirty sheets, preparing for another day in Tirion. The simplest way to be with Findaràto had been to take a commission with his grandfather for a time and then insist that it required him to be available at all times and thus he couldn't just sleep in his room in the crown prince's residence, he just had to stay in Tirion Palace where his cousin, oh so coincidentally, also currently resided for his architectural studies. Alas, this also meant he had work to do.
There was a rather nice conversation happening when he arrived, so nice he waited for the other smiths to finish before revealing he had in fact heard all about how they thought he had taken the job for the purpose of undermining Turukàno, who also was had taken residence in the city for architectural studies although he had moved out of the palace after his and Elenwë's marriage, a marriage that had cost Curufin seven gold coins.
It was laughable how wrong they were in their suppositions and yet so close, they would, however, dearly regret their words as Curufin gave them double the work for the day.
"Ah, arrived early I see!"
He turned around and bowed to the king who smiled patiently.
"I'm your grandfather, there's no need for this." Finwë told him, indicating that he wanted for Curufin to follow.
"Not when I'm working," he explained his reasons as they left the room "Then you are my king, I have to live up to the job you have given me."
Finwë shook his head "You're too harsh on yourself, I asked for you because I trust your eye to detail not because you are my grandson, you are a great smith in your own right."
Curufin smiled "Father did a good job then."
The look Finwë gave him then almost resembled pity but Curufin could not figure out why that would be so, therefore, he changed topic.
"Is there any reason for the visit?" he asked.
Finwë nodded, taking the topic change "Yes, I have hopes for this project to be incorporated in the new pavilion so I have asked for Findaràto to help you in the plans."
Curufin's heart skipped a beat, what golden opportunity was being given here? If he and Findaràto were working on the same project then nobody would question his presence in his bedroom and he was sure he could find some way of justifying for Findaràto's presence in the mornings as well then. That was perfect!
"That seems to be good," he spoke too quickly, failing to contain his excitement. Finwë gave him a confused look but he quickly recovered with a façade of indifference and his grandfather continued to explain his plans.
Alas, if he had known that a laugh would be his undoing he would have been more careful, but he had no way of knowing so when he heard her.
The laugh was delicate, like the waters of a spring, but it rang laud and glad like the song of birds, and all in all, it made Curufin frown, a prickling in the back of his mind as of something being wrong. But Finwë smiled and pointed down.
"It seems that Findaràto has not waited us on his lonesome," and chuckled, Curufin ears were ringing however, but Finwë didn't notice and continued "Arafinwë and Ëarwen have great hopes."
"Who is she? I've never met her," he asked curtly.
Finwë's smile widened "That is Amarië of the Vanyar, she and Findaràto have long been friends," and his voice took a conspiratorial tone as the laugh echoed again when Findaràto grabbed the girl and whirled her around after she tried running "Or perhaps, even something more?"
"Who's to say, perhaps, the pavilion's first use shall be their wedding."
Curufin bound down the stairs leaving Finwë to run after him, striding into the garden just as Findaràto placed Amarië on the ground again.
"If someone were to look at you they would think you were made of time, wouldn't you agree, Findaràto?" he spat, already regretting being there at all, especially as Findaràto, still short of breath, turned to him, his eyes shining and smiling radiantly.
"Atarinkë!" he exclaimed before taking the vanya's hand and bringing her in front of Curufin "This is Amarië, my friend of many years, she has decided to visit Tirion for a time. Amarië, this is Atarinkë, dearest to me."
She bowed in the way of one well taught, one thing Curufin hated to admit was that the woman was beautiful and near Findaràto they looked a beautiful, perfect match."I have heard much of the prince, I'm happy to be able to meet you."
"I have never heard of you."
Serpent tongue, he was, cruel and wrathful, as he stared in the glaring eyes of his lover as the girl flinched, her smile fallen as she shifted her weight, unsure what to respond to his hostility.
"Atarinkë!" Findaràto reprimanded him and Curufin stared back with the same intensity.
"Well not all of us have the cheek to laze around during work hours."
"Most of us, however, are capable of basic politeness when meeting a friend."
"Do you put your hands on all your friends?" Amarië barely covered a gasp, face turning red, Curufin wanted to slap her hopeful glances at Findaràto away, there was another scathing reply at the back of his mind ready to be said but Finwë intervened.
"I had hopes that you'd put your differences aside for once," he told them and his disappointment was palpable "If this continues you will both be removed from this task, am I clear?"
They responded in affirmative but they continued to glare at each other, not even looking at the king.
Finwë sighed and talked with Amarië instead "Forgive us, Amarië, I didn't think a pavilion would cause a fight."
The girl chuckled and nodded, although anyone could see she was embarrassed still "No, it's my fault, I should not have bothered Findaràto in his duties, I won't disturb anymore I shall leave now."
The king reiterated his apologies before she left and they actually began their project.

"I'm not dropping this Atarinkë!" Findaràto exclaimed, it wasn't unusual for the two of them to fight but it was the first time he just couldn't understand Curufin at all  "You almost caused a scene in front of our grandfather of all people! Secrecy was your idea!"
"What did you want me to do?!" he answered, his voice echoing in the deserted corridor "Let you make a fool out of me?"
"How was I doing any of the sort? You're not making any sense!"
"You were gallivanting with that vanya!"
Findaràto let out a harsh laugh "So that was all? Amarië is my friend! If jealousy was all this was, you needn't have bothered."
"Why didn't you tell me about her before?!"
"Because I didn't think it was needed! You don't like the vanyar and Amarië hardly leaves Taniquetil, there hadn't been any need for an introduction before!"
"Because hiding your friendships is not suspicious at all."
"I wasn't hiding Amarië!"
Curufin rolled his eyes and Findaràto lost any last patience.
"What now? Am I to make an itemized list of all my friends?" he threw at him "Or have you forgotten that other people have friends?!"
"When your parents are actively planning your wedding, then yes!!"
Findaràto sighed and took a turn of the room trying to calm down.
"My parents have long hoped I'd announce my marriage," he explained, trying tiredly to make sure Curufin understood "Any marriage," he emphasized "Amarië just happens  to be one of my oldest friends, they made assumptions."
Then he stopped behind Curufin, letting his arms envelop the other "Assumptions I could dispel if a certain someone accepted my proposal." He kissed the other's neck "Is it not enough that you are the one I love?"
Curufin sighed, wondering if that was truly enough, but he let Findaràto kiss him, no matter how bitter it felt when jealousy ate at him so deeply. Amarië was exactly what was expected of Findaràto's spouse, beautiful and bright and kind, there would be no crowd they could not captivate and there was no one that would disagree that they were a match. What of Curufin then? Would he be asked to make their bridal jewellery or would his skills not be considered enough for the golden prince of Tirion?
But he said none of that, instead he let out a quiet "I do have friends..."
Findaràto quickly suppressed a chuckle, trying hard not to fall into laughter "Please, name one friend you are not related to."
Curufin almost replied Angaràto before realizing it was meant beyond his brothers, so he tried to find another name, and he tried, and tried, but was coming up blank and with every longer moment of silence Findaràto's amusement grew. So he threw the only name he had.
"Well, there's Astalalmë, she's a girl whose mother would deliver the raw material to the forge. We are friendly?"
The suppressed snickering stopped and Findaràto was quiet for a moment before finally replying "Who is that?"

NFL Week 3
Week 3 is officially in the books and I’m ecstatic at the plays the wideouts made. None of the preseason top-10 cracked 100 yards receiving and that’s ok. But we did have Devonta Smith of the Philadelphia Eagles gain 169 yards on 8 catches and one hell of a Moss play that got it his team the ball at the one yard line. It was good watching the 3rd year pro and former Heisman Trophy Winner from the University of Alabama have a break out game. Especially after a week one performance that left Smith without a catch on four targets (two of which) I thought were catchable balls by wideouts standard. But reassurance from Eagles offensive coordinator (Shane Steichen) to involve Smith has paid off. Over the past two weeks Devonta has 15 catches on 19 targets for 249 yards and 1 touchdown. His big day catapulted him to number 11 in yards. If this was fantasy football he most certainly would have a green upward arrow…trending.
A.J. Brown and Stefon Diggs were the closest to have 100 yards and neither cracked top-20 in yards this week. And I don’t expect Brown to crack the list every week considering he plays with this weeks WOW (wideoutoftheweek). But he did manage 85 yards with a touchdown and caught an impressive streak over Kendall Fuller (Commanders) for a 38 yard gain. Diggs on the other hand settled for a decent day with 7 catches for 74 yards. The Miami Defense played him tough with cornerback Xavien Howard bringing an extra dose of physicality to the matchup. The two got involved in an altercation that drew a personal foul after Diggs confronted Howard for slamming him after the whistle. This lead the effervescent corner to pushing Diggs resulting in a 15-yard penalty.
Life for Davante Adams continues to be difficult after reuniting with his college quarterback Derek Carr. Over the summer after Adams was traded to the Raiders, he made comments saying he and Carr could become the next Jerry Rice and Joe Montana. Some of the stupidest shit I have ever heard. Yes Davante has been considered a top-5 if not top wideout by journalists the past few seasons. But Derek Carr has not been considered a top anything. And his play is trash. Adams got paid what he wanted to take a hit in production. And I’m sure he understands that without stats comparable to the top 5 after next season the Raiders will ask him to take a pay cut or trade him. GreenBay who has not won Super Bowl since the 2010-2011 season but always has a chance to play in the NFC championship with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. The great thing going for Adams is he knows how to run routes and can get open wherever he’s at. The sad part is not many in the league can get him the ball like A-Rod once did.
Next week I’m going to put it out my tentative top-10 list. Four games is not the sample size I need to help with my list, but it gives me enough plays to dissect each player’s game as I would when I coached my players. There are some bright spots to point out. The way Amari Cooper has resurrected in Cleveland has Dallas fans giving the side eye to Jerry Jones. Especially when you compare what Ceedee Lamb is failing to do. The rookie out of Ohio State Chris Olave and how he’s contributing to a Jekell and Hyde quarterback Jameis Winston. And how fifth year pro Courtland Sutton has made plays to have him currently 5th in yards with his new General Russell Wilson at the helm.
