This was very helpful to me! I'm a disabled person and have trouble with coordination, fine motor skills, and all that jazz, so I'm glad to finally have a guide that is relevant to me.
Anybody with mental health issues or anyone who's struggling a bit will probably find reading this worth your while. We all have low spoons days.
I prefer to dress more masculine and have cerebral palsy, which makes putting on makeup mostly unnecessary for me, but I will on occasion wear eyeliner.
I start my wings by using the bottom corner of my eyes to start drawing, then I loop back up to where my eyelid connects with the rest of my face. I use a lot of Q-tips (with and without makeup remover) to straighten out edges and sharpen my liner to a point. I'll then wipe off any excess using makeup removal towels (idk what they're called). It usually takes me about 10-15 minutes to apply liner.
馃Tips for Dressing Goth on Low-Spoons Days馃
Note: I am low-support needs disabled, and what works for me might not work for you. I am not a doctor and cannot offer medical advice!
Black hair, baby. I dye my roots with $1.25 men's beard dye from the 'tree now, so that's pretty cost-effective, and you don't have to do anything for your hair to look 'goth'. I wouldn't recommend a mohawk because for it to look maximum cool, you have to style it, and that can take a while. My haircut now is shaved on the sides with short bangs and it looks goth even if I don't style it. It requires minimum maintenance, too.
Pre-layered accessories. Many necklaces- especially ones marketed for 80s costumes- are pre-layered and you only have to work with one clasp. Maximum style for minimum effort. You can find layered necklaces on Amazon, at Halloween stores, and I've even seen them in the costume section of thrift stores. There are also bangle stacks that function the same way.
Strega Fashion and Lagenlook- this might work for wheelchair users, depending on how long your flowy elements are. Lots of tunics and skirts and sweaters and fancy hooded tops, etc. Think of a dark, witchy vibe. Very comfortable and can be easy to style with clothes-you-find-at-Wal-Mart, and relatively cheap.
Nails. I LOVE having long dark red nails for maximum 'spoiled vampire prince' vibes, but sometimes having acrylics or press-ons can be too expensive, impractical, or maybe too femme for you. Whatever the case, I have more recommendations than your standard black nail polish- there's silver nail polish that makes your nails look mirror-like, red nail polish of all shades, purples, etc. For a more masculine, deathrock look you could experiment with dark, zombie-esque greens, or even neon shades to stand out against your darker clothing. Painting my nails can be hard for me due to my coordination issues, so I keep Q-tips nearby and soak them in acetone to clean up the edges.
Eyeliner- they sell jumbo eyeliner sticks and you can basically roll that about your eyes, smudge with your finger, and call it done in about one minute. I have yet to find a sharpener to go with mine, which is unfortunate, but these would seemingly be the way to go when you don't have the spoons to pull out the white base and all that.
Shave your eyebrows. Not necessarily for everybody, but it gives a more alien or 'more human than human' vibe to your look without makeup and makes me look infinitely more goth even in jeans and a t-shirt. YMMV.
Piercings, if you want them, can get them, won't affect your job, etc.- these always look pretty alternative especially when combined with each other. These combined with the black hair will do the job for you, in my opinion. I currently only have my ears double pierced but plan on getting my septum done soon.

All my love goes out towards the unsuspected badasses of the world. All the cowboys with no boots, all the punks with no leather. Dressing the part is only a portion of the identity. It doesn't define it. Your ideologies make you who you are and I fuckin see y'all.

"Oh, you're into goth music too! That's so cool! What bands or artists do you like?
"....Marilyn Manson"
*Me trying to explain to them that Marilyon Manson isn't goth and is actually industrial, an abuser, and weird with underage girls*

Dumb and hopefully short rant incoming, but as someone who may not be goth herself but does enjoy learning about and meeting people on the internet from different alternative subcultures involving music, fashion and beliefs against larger society atleast, I absolutely hate how gothic women are so sexualized and fetishized into this stupid archetype of "Omg Sinful Hawt Fem Dommy Mommy Gf!". When I say that, I'm not talking about like I don't know...normal girls who happen to be sexual workers and just so happen to be into a similar aesthetic or something, I mean like actual unconsenting women who just happen to want to present more outwardly as someone from the community and get randomly and inappropriately commented on by gross, pornsick/porn addicted men on the internet. There's nothing wrong with being attracted to/having a preference for that, but there's a difference between thinking a woman is beautiful because you like how they present while still treating them like the human being they are and those who just see them as a sexual object to be used for your pleasure whether the gothic girl in question wants to or not...(Again, sorry if I wasted anyone's time but I need to atleast just share my thoughts since it's been bothering me for awhile, you know?)

Shout out to alt people who can't afford to be "visibly" alt but still partake in the culture.
Shout out to alt people who can't have the look they want because of sensory issues and/or health issues (long hair are too much/you can't grow hair, accessories are too heavy/too loud/not possible for various reasons...)
Shout out to alt people who can't wear make up for sensory and/or health reasons.
Shout out to alt people who look "cheap".
Shout out to alt people who can't partake in concerts, festivals, or any events because of sensory and/or health reasons (but for the love of god, make events accessible PLEASE).
Shout out to alt people who can't attend events because they struggle with addictions and raves, festivals, concerts are triggers.
Shout out to alt peole who are struggling with addictions. Period.
Shout out to alt people who don't fit in the body standards. BIPOC, fat, disabled, mentally ill, everyone.
Shout out to alt people who just got into in at ANY AGE and are met with gatekeeping. I love you.
Shout out to alt people who are poor and can't afford any of the stuff we see displayed on social medias.
I love you all. I wish communities were more welcoming. But you are as passionate as anyone and you deserve to find community anywhere.
Take care.

As a scene/emo/alt kid, I like when people use terms like "scenecore" and "emocore" and "gothcore" when they genuinely mean the aesthetic of the culture. I don't think it's posing to share fashion like that, and for a lot of people can be a safe and fun introduction into it. I know it was easier to wear silly bandz and mismatching socks than listening popular emo/scene bands in the house I grew up in.
The point is, let people enjoy our fashion and aesthetic, and avoid negative people to your own discretion. Maybe share some parts of the culture you love, you might make a friend.
THIS POST IS UNSAFE FOR TERFS, RADFEMS, AND ZIONISTS

This is a great deep dive on goth history and how it's intertwined with the Satanic Panic. The Satantic Panic was a mass-hysteria that spread during the 1980's. With the subculture flaunting a darker dress, individualistic attitudes, and rebelling against popular authority, goths were unfairly branded as Satanists. While satanist goths do exist; most of them do not worship or believe in the literal devil.
Goths are minding their own business and want nothing to do with "corrupting the world." They have always been. We always will be.
Goth is a music based-subculture. It doesn't revolve around being depressed, lonely, vengeful, mad at the world, or creating destruction. Though they may look a little different, goths are just regular, nerdy people. Black contour, eyeliner, and bold makeup is never a requirement for being in the subculture. Elaborate looks are only worn some of the time.
