Some extra info about it if it helps:
• It aired in britain in 2002 on milkshake channel 5
• it lasted for 2 months before being discontinued
• it had a small cult following (sort of) in New Zealand where it would air on prime tv for a couple more years (not sure how many)

Hi, I'm new here, I've just discovered Jeff a couple of weeks ago. And now I feel like a teenager again with a celebrity crush 😅
I'm very busy irl and I'm slowly working my way through his acting gigs and music videos. As a Jeff expert, what do you suggest a newbe like me should watch/listen to/read/know? I'm a little confused about all the Jeffs :D
a jeff expert 😭
Hi! Welcome!!! ❤️🥰 I hope you understand by asking this you have given me the opportunity to info dump about this man 😭 I'm sorry in advance but here is a (still very long) basic guide to Jeff Satur :)
Acting
I don't know what you have and haven't watched yet but his main show is KinnPorsche (which you can watch on IQIYI) his character Kim is only a side character though.
There are two series you can watch on youtube
He she It (3 episodes, about 50 minutes all together)
Labeled as a horror but it's not really.
youtube
Ingredients the series (21 episodes, each aprox 10-20 minutes)
Cute slice of life series about cooking
youtube
He just had a movie come out called The Paradise Of Thorns, it is on Netflix in Thailand (and will probably come to netflix in other country's too eventually) so you either need a VPN or other site to watch it currently
Happy Ending
Jeff is currently in the process of making his own series called Happy Ending.
He has made a pilot for it but it hasn't actually been filmed yet and is scheduled to start filming sometime around the middle of this year, and be out around the end of the year.
youtube
Vamp
He is also going to be part of another show called Vamp, Also not filmed yet but scheduled for sometime this year.
Wuju Bakery
This was filmed back in 2023, and was meant to come out the same year and then the date got moved twice, something happened and the company that was making it did some shady things and now its unknown if this will ever actually air, but you can still find bts photos and people often reference this show so I'm going to mention it here.(There is also 40 second trailer)
youtube
Call Me By Fire S3
Jeff was also on a Chinese survival show called Call Me By Fire S3 (can be found on youtube, there is english subtitles)
youtube
Music Videos/Jeffcest
Jeff has been making music for 10 years, (he used to use the names Jeff the Demo and Jeff Garden if you want to look up any of his earlier songs on youtube)
Due to his whole vibe (and specifically his music video for Ghost, which is actually a two part MV continued in his other song called Yellow Leaf)
People started shipping him with the characters he plays in his music videos. This has been labeled as Jeffcest, and each Jeff is a clone, the clones are each named after their respective song titles unless they already have name, pretty much everything about Jeffcest is fan made.
youtube
The most prominent of Jeffcest being a character called Sunshine from the music video Dum Dum. (There are 3 music videos for Dum Dum, Thai, English and an Unchained version)
(Ghost and Lucid are two of the other most used)
Jeff has dressed up as Sunshine during a concert and was also just brought back in Jeff's most recent MV called Ride Or Die. (which only came out 5 days ago)
Sunshine has his whole own lore (not fanmade comes from Jeff) which I wont get into here but if you want me to explain feel free to message me :)
youtube
youtube
Jeffs most popular song is probably Fade (based on the views, 208 million)
But his other most popular song is probably Why Don't You Stay which is an OST from KinnPorsche. There is a Thai and English version.
youtube
All of his MVs have an interesting story line so they're all worth watching at some point.
Some songs Jeff is featured in:
Far - Silvy ft. Jeff
แผลเป็น (scar) - bodyslam ft. Jeff
Steal the Show - Shaun ft. Jeff
จำนน (White Flag) - Nont Tanont ft. Jeff
Other Things
Whenever Jeff preforms, wherever he is, it rains. He got joked to be the son of the rain god due to how often this happened, and for Halloween 2023 he held a contest for people to design him as the Rain God. (Rain God is also often used in Jeffcest)
Acounts
Jeff has his own company/studio called Studio on Saturn
Twitter - Instgram
On the last day of the month this account will post his schedule for the upcoming month letting you know when he has any scheduled events.
This Youtube account often posts fancams of the whole event from most of Jeffs events.
This youtube account posts any Lives Jeff does.
Brands
Space Shuttle No.8
Jeff put out his first album last year and it came with a box set (can no longer be brought but I have photos of the whole thing here :)
Pets
This man has so many cats like 20 something last time i heard him talk about them 😭
(And I don't know where to put this but his fans are called Saturdayss or Sats)
i am so sorry how long this is but I hope this was what you wanted and helped 😭💛💛💛
#if you want clarification on something feel free to ask :)#there is probably basic things you already knew but i thought i'd add them just in case :)#just watching his MVs is gonna be the easiest#if you havent seen it kinnporsche is a great show but jeff is part of the third couple in the show so he doesnt have much screen time#jeff mainly posts on twitter so most his updates will be on there#Jeff also makes a lot of puns/dad jokes in thai and they often need like 3 paragraphs to translate what he is talking about hghfgdfghfghdfg#jeff satur#ask#anyone wanna add anything i forgot?

could you walk us through what notebooks & journals & pens /etc you use - they look so good!
I would be SO happy to, you have no idea!!
Alright, let's fucking GOOOO~
Starting off with my current "workhorse" pens - I have like *checks notes* 36 fountain pens and a bit too many inked up atm, but these are just the ones I'm currently reaching for or have inked up more often than not:
TWSBI Go (F): Kinda ugly! But also kinda cute! It's cheap and works great (I friggin love TWSBI pens tbh) and it has a little hole on the cap where you can attach a lanyard or charms, like I did! Makes it cuter imo and it's kind of my emotional support pen these days.
Opus88 Pocket (EF): This 2022 edition has a little Moon tarot design on the cap so it's pretty much the pen I use exclusively for my witchy/tarot practice journals! A lil bummed the cap doesn't post, especially since its a shorter pocket-sized pen, but not a deal breaker and I still love it.
Pilot Custom 823 (F): My grail pen that I've literally coveted for years and just recently acquired at the DC Pen Show this weekend! It's only been a day but I think it could potentially become my favorite pen. Ever.
Pilot Prera (CM): This is my third Prera lol. I just think they're great and really underrated pens! Also a recent acquisition from the DC Pen Show and this cursive M nib is suuuuper fun to write with.
Pilot Vanishing Point (EF): My favorite pen for planning! Super fine-tipped for writing task lists and schedules and love that it's so convenient/quick-draw with the click mechanism.
(I'm totally a Pilot pen ho, can you tell? asdjflaglsg)
Journals/Planners/Notebooks under cut–
Sterling Ink B6 Common Planner: For a good chunk of this year, I was in this planner because I honestly love the size and all the layouts. Super practical and flexible as a system. 10/10 would go back. I've used it to plan, as a reading journal, as a tarot log...
But I get the itch to move around so it's been sitting a little unused since like June, oop.
Leuchtturm A6: I started craving something tiny and minimal so I've been bullet journaling in this pocket notebook for the last month or two and I'm really enjoying it!
Standard-sized Tomoe River Paper notebook: This is pretty consistent in that I don't change up the system itself, but I'm in and out of it for memory keeping/scrapbook journaling! It's almost always a Tomoe River paper notebook of SOME kind that I usually buy in A5 size to go to FedEx and get it cut down to standard. Though I'm thinking of getting a blank Midori MD A5 to have cut down next time - I've been liking the freedom of blank pages for journaling instead of anything lined or gridded.
I really need to catch up with it tbh, but I love sitting in an explosion of printed photos, stickers, and washi and going ham with the pages.
(I do have a flip through of my January-March 2022 pages on YouTube)
Midori MD Cotton B6 Slim: I also have this sketchbook that sorta turned into a visual sketch diary of sorts. I fell off a while ago but want to get back into it because it's super fun to work in and to look back on!
Wide-sized Cosmo Air Light notebook & A5 Filofax Malden: These are my tarot/witchy journals. Grimoires I guess? One is for journaling and all my messier notes while the other is more for reference and ease of organization.
A5 Leuchtturm: I didn't know if I should include this guy, but I've been writing it in a lot recently so I guess I will lol. This is like truuuly a miscellaneous™ notebook.
I got this A5 notebook back in 2017 to use as my very first bullet journal, then found out that this size is personally waaaay too big for me to use as a bullet journal so I hopped off of it pretty quick. It now sits on my desk because since it's mostly blank I'll just pick it up to use it to write literally A N Y T H I N G.
Most recently, I wrote like 5 pages in one night on notes for a fanfiction piece I was working on (I'm not a writer, this fic is never gonna see the light of day by anyone but me lololol. Hyperfixation is so wild; I've put 80k+ words within just 10 days into it so far and it's been hella therapeutic.)
That's all, I think!?
It's funny because I actually have a NEW notebook arriving tomorrow that I'm going to try out as a bujo/commonplace/omni journal of sorts?? I might write an update post after I've set that up and see how I like it <3

Rewind the Tape —Episode 4
Art of the episode
Just like we did for the pilot and for episodes two and three, we took note of the art shown and mentioned in the fourth episode while we rewatched it. Did we miss any? Can you help us put a name to the unidentified ones? Do you have any thoughts about how these references could be interpreted?
Bust of a Woman with Her Left Hand on Her Chin
Edgar Degas, 1898 [Identified by @terrifique.]
Degas, whose work already appeared in the second episode, was a French painter of the 19th to early 20th century. His impressionist paintings often depicted ballet dancers, racehorses, and human portraits of isolation.
Krumau on the Molde, Kneeling Girl with Spanish Skirt and Self portrait in a jerkin with right elbow raised
Egon Schiele, 1912, 1911 and 1914
Schiele, whose work we have also been seeing around Rue Royale since the pilot, was an Austrian Expressionist painter, very prolific despite passing before turning 30. His work is recognizable for its transgressive portrayal of the nude body, including his nude self-portraits; but his later oeuvre features many landscapes.
The Kitten's Art Lesson
Henriette Ronner Knip, 1821-1909 [Identified by @terrifique.]
Knip was a Dutch-Belgian romantic style artist best known for paintings of animals, particularly cats and dogs of a playful nature. See more of her work here.
Nosferatu
F.W. Murnau, 1922
Nosferatu is a silent expressionist horror film from the legendary German director F.W. Murnau. It is an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. While not a commercial success upon release in 1922, film historians now consider it an influential and revolutionary film in the horror genre. Since it has been in the public domain since 2019 in the U.S., it is now free to stream on YouTube.
Untitled piece
Sadie Sheldon, undated [Identified by @lanepryce.]
The incredible metalwork piece on the wall of the reading room was made by a New Orleans-based artist, for New Orleans... pizzeria! It was made for Pizza Delicious, using dozens of tin cans. Sheldon describes her work as "site and time-specific projects from found materials (...) related to adaptability, renewal, and appreciating the objects of our everyday life".
New York
George Bellows, 1911 [Identified by @nicodelenfent, here.]
Several of Bellows' pieces have been featured in previous episodes. He was an American realist painter, known for his bold depictions of urban life in NYC. His work "revolutionized the conventions of the traditional American urban vista and surpassed the efforts of other contemporary urban realists" [x].
Backstage at the Opera
Jean Beraurd, 1889
Beraurd was a Russian born French painter known for his depictions of Parisian life and society during the Belle Epoque. [Identified by @nicodelenfent.]
Unidentified works
In Claudia's room: above the Knip we can see a painting of what looks like four people, maybe women sitting at a balcony. To the left of the door we can see, on top, a floral bouquet over a dark background, and below that, an illustration or painting of a woman with flowers over a bright pink background.
You can see all unidentified works from the first season in this post. If you spot or put a name to any other references, let us know if you'd like us to add them with credit to the post!
Starting tomorrow, we will be rewatching and discussing Episode 5, A Vile Hunger for your Hammering Heart. We can't wait to hear your thoughts!

🕸️My thoughts and feelings on Beetlejuice 🪲 (at least for a while)
I know a lot of people probably won't care but I really want to share my thoughts and talk about this character and that's what I'm going to do, There are a lot of thoughts and feelings accumulated inside my head and I need to get them out, it's a little mess but I think it will be fun to read.
I've had this on my mind for a while, which has finally become one of my biggest, if not the biggest, hyperfocuses for now and I'm going to share a little bit of it now >:)
I really didn't think I would have the courage to post this because I'm not that confident in sharing my things but I CAN'T TAKE THIS GREEN DEMON GHOST MAN OFF MY MIND😫‼️
The beginning of this happened when I was already in another hyperfocus on the character Adam from the series Hazbin hotel on Amazon(I was already a fan since the pilot on YouTube), and then a slight curiosity hit me..."Who is his voice actor?"
So I went looking for who he was and I ended up being so interested in the actor, who is Alex Brightman (I love him a lot by the way and I can't wait to go see the musical and see him in person) and also in the characters he played and voiced, and in particular one of them won my heart.😔🩷
That's exactly what you're thinking, it was Beetlejuice.
For some reason he caught my attention and over time I ended up becoming quite fond of the character, even more so when I remembered that my parents watched the character's film when I was a child, which made me even more eager to research and look for any possible bit of information on the internet that I could find.
AND YES !
I actually achieved a lot and I'm going to share it <3
Firstly, the 1988 film, which was one of the first pieces of information I found about it, after all, it was in it that the character made his debut (apart from the story of its creator Tim Burton). And I know Beetlejuice is a pervert in this movie, but I try to ignore that and try to just look at the good side of him being a good character.
Secondly, and I think this is what caught my attention the most, is the cartoon of 1989 with the same name as the character called Beetlejuice where the character acted as the protagonist alongside Lidya (In this one there's nothing about him wanting to force her to marry him like in the movie, it's just a cartoon of them having a good friendship and being best friends).
And man, the way I was happy when found out that the cartoon had 4 seasons and about 68 episodes, I was almost like that kitten TikTok meme ✨ HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY ✨
Like, wow, a source of potential Gifs, icons, dividers, photos, edits, there was so much I could do that I didn't even know where to start because of all the hustle and bustle and animation I had (And of course I spent the next few weeks pestering my friends about it during class with every little bit of information I found🤓👆).
At the moment I'm trying to look for a website that has all the episodes together or just some, but so far I've only been able to find them on old DVDs. When I can find a website I will gather all the links and post them, so that more people can watch.
And one of the best parts...I FOUND A WHOLE COLLECTION OF 🩷VALENTINES' DAY CARDS🩷 and I'll probably make another post later to post all of them or at least their links, they're all official. This made me even more excited because I love all that romantic and cute aesthetic of the Valentine's Day season, hearts, red and pink decorations, heart-shaped candy boxes, love letters, Decorated store windows, stuffed animals, I just love everything (even though I don't have a valentine, and I don't want to🙃).
To give you an idea of how focused I was on this little green-haired corpse demon ghost man, everywhere I have the opportunity I make doodles or drawings of him all over the places, walls, notebooks, tests, napkins, classroom board, and in my sketchbook, in which I'm making an entire page dedicated just to him and Lidya, which maybe later I'll post too. Even more so after I managed to find several official reference sheets from the studio that designed and animated the cartoon, so now the drawings will be much better.💋
There is so much information that I managed to find that I am having to organize my thoughts because unfortunately I am very agitated and anything takes my focus easily, but as soon as I can really focus on that, it feels like I'm somewhere else.
But now talking about the Broadway musical, (which as said before has my beloved Alex Brightman as the main actor), I've always liked the idea of musicals, and even more so when his story is about my favorite character, and speaking of musicals, I REALLY WAS OBSESSED WITH THE SONG "SAY MY NAME" 😫🩷
And oh boy, I spend almost all day singing it or with it resonating in my mind, whenever I read, write, draw or do anything to do with Beetlejuice, I put on my headphones and listen this song as if it were the greatest masterpiece made in history.
AND I'M SORRY BUT I NEED TO SHARE THIS SONG WITH YOU GUYS
youtube
Leaving the character a little, and going to the actor...he is simply the SWEETEST AND CUTEST MAN I'VE EVER SEEN!!
After I discovered that he voiced the characters that I like most in the Hazbin Hotel fandom and played the character that I like so much, I developed a huge affection for him, not just for his work, but because he is so sweet, fun and funny that I can't help but love everything and everything I find about this man online.
Alex Brightman bringing the character Beetlejuice to life and voicing Adam, Fizzarolli and Sir Pentious
youtube
That's it for now ,folks, that's all I have stuck in my mind for now or at least what I can remember
I apologize if this isn't so good, I'm writing this while I'm at school at 7am after waking up at 5am while my body is sore after a presentation.
So, thank you for reading 💞

What introduced you to lmk? like some fanart or a tiktok edit
For me it was a nezha edit (it was a leak at the time, but obviously I didn't know it) and I loved its design so much that I decided to see lmk, previously I knew that the series existed since I really like everything that has to do with Sun Wukong (and the journey to the west and Nezha too of course)
my love of lmk was a slow burn that then sparked into an inferno
FOR YOU SEE
it began while i was watching OSP’s jttw summarized videos and listening to their podcast and there were some people asking Red if she watches the show (she hadn’t and prob still has not because her reason was by simply not watching it, she wouldn’t accidentally have their style influence her own. also ensuring that her summarized videos stayed original)
then i noticed some fanart of lmk on instagram (idk how that happened tbh maybe the algorithm took my interest in fanrtists of animated movies and shows to equal “hey you might like this too!”) but since i had no clue what lmk really was and was more loyal to jttw itself, i ignored it (tho one of the fanartists drew really good kung fu panda fanart so i saw lmk for about a month or too before i deleted my instagram)
and then i saw a lot of lmk in the comments of OSP’s video about the Six Eared Macaque chapter but ignored it still
and then tumblr polls happened
many polls were made. many ship dynamic polls were made
there was also the character of all time poll, of which i was a Sun Wukong activist and found some lmk fans who reblogged my propaganda thread
(during this time— April— I discovered Epic: the musical)
i found lmk once more in the sun/moon ship poll. it was merthur vs shadowpeach and i stayed true to my ship, Merthur, but i noticed one of my (then) mutual-in laws was very passionate about shadowpeach and i grew curious
i searched it up (beginning of May), somehow found a playlist with seasons 1-3 two days after i began my search, watched all of it in a day (it should be noted that i had been recovering from finals) and found myself hooked
I also felt cheated out of the shadowpeach ship because, through the eyes of my (then) mutual-in law, the ship seemed to be popular on tumblr. then all the shit i see on YouTube is spicynoodles and people arguing in the comments that shadowpeach are brothers
anyway
i found out very quickly that the show did scratch a special itch in my brain (it almost didn’t if i’m being honest. i was almost put off by MK and Mei’s personalities at first but figured i would wait if our since AHiB is only the show’s pilot) and now i wanted more
i went onto twitter bc i struggled to find fanart on tumblr
i realized there was a 4th season already out (also weird discord drama???? idk i only was there for the art) AND some nice metas to dip my toes in
i leave twitter and go to yt to find the 4th season (and also bc there was a whole thing on twt about new accounts getting called out for being “pro-shippers” so i decided to tap out) and then found out about Monkey King 2009 (which i watched to stave off the desire of s4 but this backfired bc i got obsessed with that one too and only 12 episodes are subtitled for it— edit: NOT ANYMORE!!!!)
AND THEN I FIND SEASON 4
i watch it all and realize i have to wait for the s4 special, but i am more prepared for it (and now i feel more comfortable interacting with lmk tumblr) which leads to me making my own metas (this was spurred by my desire for more swk metas)
and thus i found and curated my lmk fandom experience on tumblr and satiated my brain with metas and fics and art until s4 special and then rinse and repeat until s5 :D

Hazbin Hotel Short Thoughts: Ep. 1~4
It's been...a while since I've posted anything on this. Let's just say that a certain Disney cartoon about a pair of twins solving mysteries got my rapt attention.
Now that the Hazbin Hotel finally opened has finally opened its doors, I want to share some thoughts I have about this batch of episodes
{Spoilers for Episodes 01 to 04}
Episode 01 -- Overture
One helluva first episode I must say. Lilith has been missing for 7 years? And it looks like her origin closely follows the Judaism lore. And the angel Adam was indeed the first man from the Garden of Eden. Given his attitude and the things he said, I guess Heaven isn't as strict as we thought it was. Depending on ranks, I guess. Adam is no doubt a high ranking angel while the Cherubs are very much at the bottom of the food chain, like the Imps. And due to a sinner killing an Exterminator, the usually annual Cleansing has now become twice a year, the next coming in six months. That's not a cause for concern. One more thing...who's voicing Katie Killjoy?
Episode 02 -- Radio Killed the Video
The mystery of Alastor thickens. He was also gone for 7 years too? Hmmm.... And 7 is considered a holy number... Sliiiighty disappointed that Vox and Val's voices don't defaultly have an effect, but it does make their rage and power more apparent when it does have an effect. Velvet was a bit of a surprise. And a fashionista? Apparently, Alastor turned down Vox. And Vox is clearly still vexed by that. lol And, wow, on Sir Pentious' part. Of course, his little espionage wasn't gonna last long, but damn he really didn't last a day! I did think that Baxter was gonna be the mole, but Sir Pentious kinda made more sense. Still, Vox might send Baxter next time around, if Baxter even works for Vox.
Episode 03 -- Scrambled Eggs
Sir Pentious is now part of the Hazbin family! So, Camilla was the one who killed the Exterminator. And it was out of self-defense. Honestly, this is a poor reason for the Extermination to be bumped up to twice a year. I wonder how this would be handled. And that one girl that appeared in the pilot (collecting the spears off Franklin with another), she's Camilla's daughter? I swear, I heard her call Camilla 'mother'. Either Camilla basically adopted this young sinner, or sinners are capable of birth now. I'm gonna think it's the former. Found family, and all that. Velvette's opinion of taking on Heaven really is a brash move. Like, sweetie, are you 100% you can take on all of Heaven's army? I will say that my favorite scene is the Egg Bois just annoying Alastor. That eye twitch was just icing on the cake.
Episode 04 -- Masquerade
Hands down, my favorite episode so far. Yes, Charlie does need to start to be a tad bit more assertive. She can still be kind. Kindness and niceness don't always go side by side. One's an action and the other passive (sometimes to the point of doormat levels). She just needs to know when its a good idea to use that assertiveness. And Husk was a freakin Overlord? Consider my doubts dashed. It's not that a surprise that some type of relationship will form between Angel and Husk. They're kinda on the same boat, in a way. Crossing fingers that they might end up together. If not, hey, what they have right now is still something beautiful.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are my thoughts for now. I will try to juggle between this and my Gravity Falls blog (that has had me in a chokehold since August last year).
Not to mention getting back to making Youtube videos.
Until next time, my fellow Hazbins, stay tuned.

Giraffe Girumble - Last Chance Preliminary 1
Propaganda below (May contain spoilers!)
Giraffe (r/nosleep) propaganda:
It almost eats someone and the description is suspiciously detailed to a comical level. I originally found it on tumblr in youtube embed form https://youtu.be/kF9yqfpl904?si=7SpPRvViLYjwI83
Boo's Giraffe Height Chart propaganda:
THE SUCKER IS A SENTIENT, ROBOTIC BEING AND QUITE POSSIBLY A GOVERNMENT DRONE COLLECTING INTEL ON THE MONSTER WORLD. In less than a handful of seconds in the film it vanishes between shots, then reappears, repositions itself. Someone had to rent an entire theatre out just to see that the giraffe can be seen *rolling it’s way to the front of the corporation* and hidden in the furthest corners of the DVD, is a single animation of the height chart LEAVING THROUGH THE DOOR ON ITS OWN. The John Zegrus of Giraffes— call it Giraffe from Taured, I don’t know. The truth has been there all along, in the shadows, where it laughed and laughed as it rolled out of sight.
Chirinmon propaganda:
So they're a Qilin (or Kirin since it's from a Japanese franchise) but you did say Qilin are allowed. Tyilinmon (Chirinmon's japanese name) are holy beast digimon and are said to be peaceful and deeply compassionate, but will still fight those who they deem evil and kill senselessly.
Abigail propaganda:
Watched the movie back in December and she was the first one who came to mind :P. She very kindly allowed Willy and Noodle to collect some very important giraffe milk from her, resulting in giraffe macaroons (no giraffes harmed) which helped get the chocolate-selling business off the ground. She also later got liberated from the zoo and let loose in a church full of chocolate-obessed monks and i forget exactly why they did that but i know it was helpful for the others. Very important and necessary character and we love her
Kipekee propaganda:
It's a spotless giraffe which is very cool and p rare. I still think it should've been named vibrant beige tho. :)
Melissa and Doug Giraffe propaganda:
A real children’s baby giraffe plush that was inexplicably used as set dressing for a nursery in the fairytale world in the pilot of OUAT. Basically, a multiverse-traveling 4-foot-tall giraffe stuffed animal.
(I'm sorry, original submitter, but I could not find the pilot in time for this)
Jemmy/Jeremiah did not receive propaganda. :l

3/18 readings
This was a first-time watch for me! I had some idea of what to expect because I've seen how much this show gets talked about online, but luckily I think I've managed to avoid the majority of spoilers for this show.
The thing that struck me the most while watching these episodes of Evangelion was the pacing. The first episode moves so fast. The show opens with an Angel already emerging and making its way to attack a city. Then Shinji is picked up by Misato, brought to Nerv headquarters and shoved in a mechsuit for battle. Then in the second episode, that sense of urgency is completely gone. On a first watch, that kind of threw me off kilter, but I imagine it was done to reflect the emotional whiplash that Shinji is experiencing now that he has been tasked to pilot an Evangelion.
The details behind the Angels are kept pretty vague, at least in these introductory episodes. I found this odd since normally the first few episodes of a series are meant to be expository and help the viewer get familiar with the way that things operate in the world we're peeking into, but I like that we don't get much more information than Shinji does. It makes it easier to connect with him since we, as the audience, are learning new information along with him. It's interesting though that because of how little information we're given about the state of the world and the way that the Angels and Evangelions work, I found the more melodramatic, human-to-human interactions way more interesting than the fights or whatever plots the adults were making to save Tokyo-3.
I also enjoyed the Galbraith reading as well. Like I said, I was really only familiar with Evangelion through the fan memes and discourse that I've observed on Twitter and Youtube (and the many Evangelion girl figurines I've seen online or at comic shops), so it was interesting to read about how that was cultivated by the creators. I definitely did notice the "special attention" given to the female characters in the show. Some of those moments felt kind of cheap, but I was expecting them going into it, so it at least didn't surprise me.

I have no platform in regards to anything that would reach an audience but. I can't just let my words on the subject not at least be written somewhere.
I'm noticing a lot of people already mocking or cringing at fans of indie productions that blow up overnight. Primarily Welcome Home and The Amazing Digital Circus. And I just want to grab all you people and gently shake you and ask "Why???"
These are VERY WELL MADE indie productions that have been well received BECAUSE THEY'RE GOOD. People like the content and they should be encouraged to support it! I would want the same respect of my fans of my original works, too.
I'm seeing people upset with the following TADC already has, and even claiming that the designs and personalities of the characters are even "bait" to get tumblr and tiktok Fandoms to pop up overnight. Most hate I've seen also references whatever cringe happened over in the WH Fandom, claiming it's going to get the same treatment or the same group of people in its fanbase. People in V*vziep*p's H*lluva B*ss sphere of internet fandom are acting like children because TADC got more views than their precious franchise, acting like they're the only indie YouTube animation crew who can get numbers like that. (( Though my feelings on that fandom are kind of... a separate matter, lol. ))
Firstly, Fandom (or viewership) shouldn't be the main draw or method of judgment for ANY piece of media, especially indie productions, and secondly....... even if that claim about the designs and plot was true ... So what?
A SMALL team of REAL people worked REALLY HARD on TADC. 3D animation is NOT EASY. You can clearly tell the creators were passionate and spent countless hours working on this-- I can tell from the pilot alone the creators CARE. Even if the premise is (allegedly) a fame grab.... maybe that's just because people -- the creators included -- LIKE this kind of "dark but wacky" content? Is that really such a crime of cringe to just fall immediately in love with a new piece of media just because it meets the "Fandom boxes", which again shouldn't even be how you Primarily interact with the subject matter as a whole?
Also, are people forgetting that Welcome Home is a ONE PERSON PROJECT??? why are we hating on one person's passion project just because it got popular holy shit are you all ACTIVELY trying to keep indie creators from actually creating??
I'm speaking from a place outside of Fandom when I say these things. I do not engage with anything outside of the creative content that comes from fan works, and even then I'm only really looking at visual art that's created and nothing else. Frankly I don't really know or care about what even happened with the WH fans that gave it such a bad name that can be used to smite up and coming media like TADC, but regardless it's still not a good reason to hate on something that found success.
In summary... these kinds of comments and fights Really shouldn't be so widespread for content that is made by small creators (or in WH's case, one person) . We should be actively celebrating and engaging positively with the art that indie creators allow us to see, especially when that art that they've so passionately made is free to consumers. Even if you have a problem with how rapidly successful the series gets, there's no need to be hateful and bitter about it, and there's Especially no need to get involved in fandom antics and use that as your excuse to not engage in indie media.

A CHICKEN RUN Workprint & Such
youtube
Quite something that the year CHICKEN RUN: DAWN OF THE NUGGET comes out, we get a look at never-before-seen behind-the-scenes stuff for Aardman Animations' debut feature film...
This channel contains a workprint for the film that has quite a few alternate versions of scenes, alternate lines, and plenty of storyboarded bits to fill in the gaps. Temp music throughout, too. You know, the usual animated movie workprint stuff.
Even more enticing is an over hour-long collection of early test footage, of how the characters move, all on various sets, some of which very rough and simple, and likely intentionally so. Almost like a pitch pilot. There's even some CGI in there, for figuring out how the more mechanical things in the movie - such as the makeshift "crate" plane - work.
CHICKEN RUN has long been a favorite of mine. I saw it in the theaters when I was turning 8, and I absolutely loved it! I watched the VHS over and over, I even had a CHICKEN RUN lunch pack! It had Rocky on it, flying through the air on his tricycle. I've enjoyed all of Aardman's films, but this debut feature really hit the ground running. Just so good, so tight, everything about it is just so cool- BUT this isn't a review of Nick Park and Peter Lord's groundbreaking stop-motion made-of-plasticine movie, I could waffle on about this one for days... Anyways, a favorite of mine, and to see all this behind the scenes stuff is great.
I absolutely love watching workprints and rough cuts of animated movies, and reels of test footage and other such components. Up until YouTube came about, the closest I feasibly had to that was the carefully-edited "Work In Progress" version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, which was available to *me* via the 2002 DVD release. The actual workprint, as in what a specific audience saw at the New York Film Festival in mid-1991, was preserved on the original home video release's deluxe edition... Which I did not have back in the day. The DVD has a sweetened version for a more casual viewing audience. There was also the full rough cut of HEAVY METAL that was available on its DVD release, complete with an audio commentary by Carl Macek. Just so much informative stuff in what you're seeing alone...
It's been a great time for fans of this kind of stuff. This year, we also saw a partial workprint of THE LITTLE MERMAID from around mid-1989 get out online, which curiously capped off with the trailer for the movie that appeared on the VHS release of BAMBI later that year. A workprint of ALADDIN, made sometime after Jeffrey Katzenberg's complete rip-down of the project in 1991, floated around YouTube for quite some time. A full LION KING workprint, made around the time the whole middle section was being reworked in mid-1993, can be found on Archive. A good chunk of Richard Purdum's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is around, too. As for Pixar, there's some TOY STORY and A BUG'S LIFE rough cut stuff going around as well...
One big lost media drop, for me, was last year with THOMAS THE TANK ENGINE's fifth season, like several VHS tapes of dailies and rushes that was like a day's length.
What I would like to see drop next?
Any Disney animated movie would certainly suffice, particularly some holy grails, like a pre-regime change version of THE BLACK CAULDRON that has the infamous melting soldier scene in it and all those extra Fflewddur Fflam dialogue bits. Or KINGDOM OF THE SUN, the film that was thrown out in 1998 and retooled into THE EMPEROR'S NEW GROOVE.
DreamWorks and Sony, too. A full workprint of the Chris Farley SHREK? Maybe B.O.O.: BUREAU OF OTHERWORLDLY OPERATIONS, the almost-done movie from 2014-15 that was completely scrapped? I've seen various completed scenes of it via various animators' resumes on Vimeo. Whatever was completed of BOLLYWOOD SUPERSTAR MONKEY and LARRIKINS, that too.
What I'd like to see, like on my mind right now... Two particular pre-acquisition Pixar movies... TOY STORY 2 and FINDING NEMO.
Like, a TOY STORY 2 that still had Al's Toy Barn in the suburbs and not right across the street from the penthouse ("all the way to work!"), a TOY STORY 2 that still has that weird Godzilla roleplay scene that landed Woody in the yard sale by accident, I want to see more of what that version looked like. An earlier version of FINDING NEMO with unfinished no-water scenes and wonky-looking humans is something I'd be down for, honestly. I love seeing this sort of stuff in the raw, before all the refinements. It gives everything a bit of an alien quality, honestly, that only makes it all the more fascinating.
Those, off the top of my head.

Current WIP List
Just to get them somewhat organized in front of me, here’s a list of my current WIPs, roughly in order by stage.
Currently writing:
Untitled Fantasy WIP: fantasy novel, Zaya has a map with a country no one remembers and knows she loved someone she can’t remember, so she’s gone looking for answers. This time, she won’t only find answers, but she’ll help heal a wound in the world.
Bad Fences: horror novel, Barbara’s family helped found her neighorhood generations ago, and she’s the last remaining descendant of any of those founders. She considers it her duty to protect her neighborhood, so she’s horrified when a huge family moves in next door. She’s positive they’re Satanists planning to sacrifice their baby, but really they’re a happy poly family she’s terrorizing.
The Care and Feeding of This House: horror short story, in today’s market, the only way most people can afford a house is if it’s haunted. What if this haunted house has a manual...but it didn’t get passed to the new owner, who has to figure out how to live in harmony with her new home on her own?
Other People’s Stories: fantasy novella? Lim has always lived with one foot in a different world, and it feels like she’s always on the edge of other stories without having one of her own. Then she finds herself in the middle of her own story and it isn’t as fun as she thought it would be.
Untitled Short Story: fantasy short story, when Amelia dreams, sometimes she dreams so deep and true it changes the world.
Back Burner, waiting to finish something else/work out some details:
Magic School Dropouts: fantasy novel, Imogene’s been on the run since she and her best friend snuck away from magic school. She doesn’t want the magic police to realize she’s an untrained magician loose in the world. Except there’s no such thing as magic police, the school she escaped largely isn’t known in the actual magic community (there’s a magic community? And they’ll actually welcome Imogene and help her out?), and her best friend died years ago and now her daughter is trying to escape that same school.
Escape Velocity: science fiction novel, Della grew up in an isolationist, anti-tech cult, but she escaped and went to space.
Heartland: science fiction, maybe ya novel, Dice lives outside of Heartland, an arcology, and she dreams about becoming a teacher and getting to live in Heartland instead of its shadow. Her best friend, Media, actually lives inside it, though they’ve never gotten to meet in person. And together, they’ll undercover and thwart a plot to bomb Heartland. Weird how easy it was to stop it, though.
Still researching/need to start researching:
Untitled Science Fiction WIP: science fiction novel, it’s time to unionize the asteroid belt. Countless people have been lured out to mining colonies on the asteroid belt with promises of big pay. Turns out when they arrive, they’re in dept to the company for the cost of their transport into space, and also the company has to take part of their pay to cover their rent. Oh, yeah, all the businesses in each colony are owned by the company, and your pay can only be converted to an earth currency on earth. And the company won’t pay to send you back to earth, but if you lose your job, you can’t stay in the colony. Captain Petra Quill and her crew pilot a freelance ship on the belt, and when news about what’s really happening in the colonies gets out, they and the other freelance ships are the only hope for the burgeoning union and their fight against the company.
Untitled Horror WIP: horror novel, Unnamed Creepy Dude was moderately well known among the prepper community, and he lived off-grid in a decommissioned military bunker. Sure, he was preparing for the world to end, but also, he needed somewhere private to stash the bodies. Until some of his victims refused to stay where he put them, and now he and the crew from a YouTube channel are all missing.

Meg Moment Ramble
So I’m a person who has the slowest realization about the most mundane and obvious things in life, especially stuff correlated to myself. One thing I’ve been rotating a lot recently is how interconnected a persons interests are to one another, regardless how different some interests are or if a person really isn’t deep into a past interest anymore compared to current. A persons “taste” generally forms from stuff we are exposed to at a young age, figuring out what we strongly resonate with and if we want more of that thing. This is especially obvious with autistic people, like myself, as we form intense fixations on things. We are more inclined to get into things similar to each other to feed into a special interest, but sometimes we can have interests that are completely different from each other yet have some shared similarity.
For me I was reflecting how funny it was that as a child, Pokemon was my primary special interest, but I have since grown out of it and Getter is seemingly my new permanent special interest to replace it. (After a few years of struggling to find what I was gonna fixated on heavily after I became less attached to Pokemon) On a surface level, I feel these two share no similarities whatsoever. Stuff like me having a Mega Man fixation before I got into Getter feels more connected due to “robots” but than I though about it more and realized while completely unintentional, my childhood series and current fixation share a few small connections.
One thing I remembered with Getter is the factor of people fighting in giant robots was never a turn off for me. I was someone who didn’t even know the Mecha genre existed-which I know is embarrassing but I’ll save that for another time-but I never heavily consumed Shonuen anime. Pokémon, while I consumed every form of content of it that existed, practically all of its fights are NOT fought by humans, it’s all the creatures themselves being commanded by their trainers. Getter-and most mecha’s-in a strange way follow that formula almost, as the robots DO the fighting, but the human pilots are the one in control of moving their robots. It’s not human to human combat and while I’m okay with that idea, my brain has realized it has enjoyed more the concept of non human creature’s fighting.
Pokémon also made me realized I just enjoy stories with non humans but there’s still HUMANS within it, so I was probably destined to like robot media, even if I never had much exposure as a child. The idea of two different species having conflicts fascinated me, even if something as simple as Pokémon never really addressed something deep like this. Also in a strange way for me Getter has a childhood aesthetic even in its later iterations. Perhaps because with Toei it was originally marketed for children, but the OVAS feel like a more mature version that grew up with the audience that watched the original series. Still something that can be enjoyed with Toei knowledge-as I hardly watched it myself-but even something as “edgy” as Armageddon radiates the spirit of the old series with how referenced filled it is. It’s something a kid could in theory watch if it weren’t for all the gore, but it keeps the fun action paced battles and cool robot designs that would any kids eyes would light up at.
I honestly feel if I somehow found Getter early-whether in a timeline Toei getter actually got fully dubbed and brought over but still aired as a old cartoon on networks or I randomly found clips of one of the ovas on YouTube-even if I was too young to experience it, I would be enthralled by it. Maybe I do just think this way because current fixation, but this realization dawned on me and yeah, my taste really checks out at the end of the day.
#autism rambles#autism ramblings#special interest#i kept it too these two because we would be here forever discussing my fixations but also they were the most relevant#Also it feels nice to finally ramble about something like this lol#there’s more comparisons I could realize if I thought hard enough but I’m not trying to make a point/argument this is just personal views

the aircraft emergency frequency (known as GUARD in the usa) is SUPPOSED to be used for emergencies. the frequency is 121.5 mhz. it is for all international air distress and emergencies and stuff (theres a different one for military)
however. for some goddamn reason. for at least the past ten years (maybe more) there has been meowing. random pilots going “meowww!” on the emergency frequency. this is often followed by at least 8 different people yelling “GUARRRRD” “YOUR ON GUARD” “STOP FUCKING MEOWING” and at least 3 others meowing also.
i have a radio and often tune into this frequency if i want to hear local airplane pilots/control tower operators act like absolute fools.
here’s some operators using GUARD to try to contact a flight that went missing (they found them) and just the absolute nonsense, the one guy spamming caribbean music, the voice changer, and the meowing and guard police are so fucking funny. GUARD is always doing shit like this. its great. (note that he isnt on the frequency until 1:30, so the other shit is just normal coworker conversations. “who the fuck eats honeydew” is just two coworkers not abusing resources).
usually radio etiquette is a lot more professional for these guys but mistakes do happen. people tend to be pretty quick on the jokes tho. if you ever want to listen to the funniest shit ever a lot of amateur radio operators upload the funniest dialogue they catch on youtube pretty often.
ya'll who's up for group meowing

An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth. By Col. Chris Hadfield. Little, Brown, and Company, 2013.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Genre: memoir
Series: N/A
Summary: Colonel Chris Hadfield has spent decades training as an astronaut and has logged nearly 4000 hours in space. During this time he has broken into a Space Station with a Swiss army knife, disposed of a live snake while piloting a plane, and been temporarily blinded while clinging to the exterior of an orbiting spacecraft. The secret to Col. Hadfield's success-and survival-is an unconventional philosophy he learned at NASA: prepare for the worst-and enjoy every moment of it.
In An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth, Col. Hadfield takes readers deep into his years of training and space exploration to show how to make the impossible possible. Through eye-opening, entertaining stories filled with the adrenaline of launch, the mesmerizing wonder of spacewalks, and the measured, calm responses mandated by crises, he explains how conventional wisdom can get in the way of achievement-and happiness. His own extraordinary education in space has taught him some counterintuitive lessons: don't visualize success, do care what others think, and always sweat the small stuff.
You might never be able to build a robot, pilot a spacecraft, make a music video or perform basic surgery in zero gravity like Col. Hadfield. But his vivid and refreshing insights will teach you how to think like an astronaut, and will change, completely, the way you view life on Earth-especially your own.
***Full review below.***
CONTENT WARNINGS: descriptions of life or death situations, animal death
I found this book at a used bookstore, and since I had seen a couple of YouTube videos featuring Hadfield, I picked it up. I like space but haven't delved much into the ins and outs of being an astronaut, so I figured this would be an accessible entry point.
Overall, I think this book was very good about explaining what being an astronaut is like without being bogged down by technical jargon or complex science. Hadfield's prose is very straightforward and clear, so even I was able to understand things related to flight or technical operations or what have you.
But the memoir isn't as focused on those things as it is communicating the humanity of astronauts and imparting some life lessons. The former, I found was executed well; Hadfield does a great job talking about his mindset and attitudes and I think there is enough levity and humor to make his extraordinary experiences more relatable.
The advice/lessons were, for me, more of a mixed bag. Part of my reaction might be due to my own feeling that many of Hadfield's insights were overshadowed by his stories and the advice itself didn't seem too dependent on being an astronaut, specifically. I guess that's good, since Hadfield aims to give some advice that is applicable to most people, but the advice felt a bit trite at times. There's also the sense that Hadfield doesn't get very emotional or show much vulnerability in his prose. This isn't, by definition, a bad thing, but when you've had experience that very few people in life will have, I feel like you need some robust, lyrical prose to really provoke a reaction in the reader.
TL;DR: An Astronaut's Guide to Life on Earth is less valuable for its life lessons and more valuable as a piece of science education/communication. Learning about the life of an astronaut was genuinely very interesting, and I think this book could get more people interested in space exploration. But as an insightful book of life lessons, it was just too flat and broad.

Researchers studied two decades of queer representation on Australian TV, and found some interesting trends
New Post has been published on https://qnews.com.au/researchers-studied-two-decades-of-queer-representation-on-australian-tv-and-found-some-interesting-trends/
Researchers studied two decades of queer representation on Australian TV, and found some interesting trends
Television is experiencing a boom of queer representation, and Australian series are no exception.
A new study reveals how trends in lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and nonbinary (gender and sexually diverse) scripted stories have developed onscreen over the 2000s and 2010s.In the 1970s and ‘80s, Australia was considered relatively radical in its representations of gender and sexually diverse people.
We’re credited with the first positive portrayal of a gay man, Don Finlayson (Joe Hasham), in the soap opera Number 96 (1972–77).
We also portrayed the first lesbian kiss, between Vicki Stafford (Judy Nunn) and Felicity Baker (Helen Hemingway) in the pilot episode of The Box (1974–77), two weeks before the UK’s first televised lesbian kiss.
Australian TV drama The Box (1974) became the first in the world to show a lesbian kiss. Youtube
By the 1990s, queer character appearances shifted to predominantly once-off stories in medical and crime dramas. But things have changed substantially since then.
Gay and bisexual men
Between 2000 and 2019, Australian-scripted television represented gay men more regularly than bisexual men. Specifically, our research found 44 series featuring gay men and only three featuring bisexual men.
Similar to trends in US television throughout the 2000s, many of these examples focused on characters “coming out” as gay – a popular storytelling device.
While bisexual coming-out narratives were rare, one notable exception was the character Sammy Lieberman (Thom Green) in Dance Academy (2010–13), who rejects labels others try to put on him.
Sammy Lieberman in ABC’s Dance Academy came out as bisexual. IMDB
Although we found a prominence of coming-out narratives, we also saw an increase in already out characters. Previously, gay and bisexual men were commonly written into one-off storylines in which coming out seemed like the only available narrative. Now they’re often shown with complex lives and other sources of drama.
The avoidance of gay intimacy onscreen remains prominent; we noted a tendency to use camera movements and cuts to avoid showing gay sex scenes. But some series are pushing these boundaries. For instance, season three of Please Like Me included a meaningful and critically acclaimed sex scene between Josh (Josh Thomas) and Arnold (Keegan Joyce).
Lesbian and bisexual women
While there is a significant number of lesbian and bisexual women in Australian scripted television, they appear in fewer series overall compared with gay and bisexual men. Of a total 38 series, we found 32 with lesbians and 15 with bisexual women. Nine of the series included both.
Trends for lesbian and bisexual women often focus on characters who are assured of their sexuality, or who engage in temporary exploration as a “passing phase”. Coming-out narratives are rare for these women.
For example, Charlie Buckton (Esther Anderson) in Home and Away (1988–) temporarily explores attraction to out lesbian Joey Collins (Kate Bell). The relationship isn’t mentioned again after Joey is written out and Charlie returns to dating men.
Alongside this theme of temporary attraction is a troubling trend of unnamed bisexuality, wherein we identified bisexual women, but the bisexuality wasn’t clearly named.
That said, we do note instances where this is due to a resistance to labels. As Bridget (Libby Tanner) tells Bea (Danielle Cormack) in Wentworth (2013–21): “Fuck the labels.”
Prison drama Wentworth had several lesbian and bisexual woman characters. IMDB
There are also several examples of lesbian and bisexual women raising families. In 2003, a two-part episode of Blue Heelers (1994–2006) focuses on a custody dispute between a lesbian couple and their sperm donor. These stories often incorporate themes of same-sex IVF and adoption, reflecting legal changes in Australia throughout the decades.
However, in All Saints (1998–2009), Charlotte Beaumont (Tammy Macintosh) – who is originally written as a lesbian and later rewritten as bisexual – becomes pregnant after sleeping with a man.
Transgender and non-binary people
Until recently, and with rare exceptions, out gender-diverse characters have been largely invisible in Australian scripted television.
We found eight series with transgender women, three with transgender men, and one with a non-binary person. Within our study, only one of these characters appeared before 2010.
Most transgender storylines included some focus on self-identity, with the character either coming out or asserting their identity with others. Some stories also included romantic attraction, although almost all were in a heterosexual framing. One exception was Chris (Harvey Zielinski) in Starting From… Now (2014–16) – a trans man who is pansexual.
From 2018 onwards, all gender-diverse characters were portrayed by out actors who aligned with their identity. Before this, only Robyn Ross (Carlotta) in Number 96 and Chris in Starting From… Now were played by out transgender actors.
youtube
The emergence of queer story worlds
Australian scripted television has moved away from representing solitary gay or lesbian figures, and towards more inclusive representations that portray queer characters belonging to a shared community. We found increasing instances of these characters appearing in regular, recurring and one-off stories in the same series.
We also found an increase in series that are set in queer story worlds. Outland (2012) was the first Australian series to feature an entirely gay and lesbian ensemble of characters.
youtube
Similarly, Starting From… Now is a web series that follows a group of lesbian women living in Sydney’s Newtown. The final two seasons were picked up by SBS in 2016 and, along with Wentworth, contribute significantly to the number of lesbian and bisexual women appearing onscreen.
youtube
The queer story world has been featuring even more from 2020 onward, in particular through digital-first and pilot initiatives for talent from underrepresented communities. These initiatives are giving more opportunities to queer creatives, resulting in series such as Iggy & Ace 5eva (2021) and All My Friends Are Racist (2021).
The appearances of gender and sexually diverse stories in Australian television continue to change. We hope our research can provide a starting point for further analysis of these decades and those to come.
