As soon as Dustin walked out the door, Eddie was backing Steve against the wall, lips on his neck, hands wandering across his arms and sides.

“God, I thought they’d never leave,” Steve gasped, throwing his head back as Eddie’s teeth bit into his collarbone. “Need you so fuckin’ bad, baby.”

“Looked so good in that apron. So unfair I couldn’t get my hands on you when you were making cookies for us,” Eddie groaned against his skin. “Wanna fuck you right here. Open you up on my tongue-“

“Sorry, Steve! Forgot my-“ Dustin’s voice stopped before Eddie could even register that he should pull away. “What the fuck!”

“Language!” Steve yelled as he shoved Eddie away from him, trying to fix his shirt and hair. Not that it would do any good; Dustin just got an eyeful already.

At least they weren’t naked. Yet.

“Please tell me you were fighting,” Dustin sounds distraught, which isn’t fair. He should’ve knocked.

“You spent months making me feel bad for not wanting to hang out with your new best friend and now you’re hoping we’re fighting?” Steve placed his hands on his hips, subtly trying to catch his breath and will his dick back to soft. “What about that looked like fighting to you? How have you not sat through sex ed yet?”

“You were having sex?!” Dustin’s voice cracked. “In the hall?!”

“Of my home!” Steve threw his arms up. “And no we weren’t having sex, but we were getting there.”

Eddie held his hands up, brain finally coming back online enough to intervene before things got out of hand.

“Okay. Dustin, why the hell are you even back?”

“I forgot my notebook.”

“And you decided to storm in here like it’s your house instead of knocking?” Steve was trying to take it easy, but everything was falling apart.

They’d kept their relationship a secret for nearly three months now. Robin didn’t even know.

Now that Dustin saw what he did, everyone would know and everyone would hate them and then Eddie would leave Steve for making everyone hate them and-

“Stevie!” Eddie’s hands were on his cheeks as Steve focused back in on what was going on. His breath was coming in short pants, and if Eddie wasn’t so close to him, he isn’t sure he’d be able to see him. “It’s okay, sweetheart. You’ve gotta breathe for me.”

Breathe for Eddie. He could do that. He did that all the time.

He liked doing what Eddie told him to, he liked the praise that came when he did it, he liked being good. Breathing was easy.

He took a deep breath, then another, relaxing as Eddie smiled back at him encouragingly.

“That’s good, angel. Keep doing that. I’m gonna get Dustin’s notebook, okay?” Eddie didn’t seem like he wanted to leave Steve alone, but he didn’t have much of a choice right now.

“Okay.”

Eddie walked away, towards the study that they’d turned into a game room for the kids to hang out in, and Steve immediately felt the panic settle in his chest again.

“Steve?” Dustin asked, stepping closer to him.

“Yeah?”

“Why didn’t you tell any of us?” Dustin sounded hurt, looked hurt. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

“I was worried you’d hate me, or Eddie. That all of you would hate us for…for being different,” Steve looked down at his hands. “Didn’t wanna lose you.”

“But it’s okay if you’re gay, Steve. None of us would care!” Dustin exclaimed. “I just kinda thought you liked girls. Like Nancy.”

“I do. I just also like guys. I love Eddie,” Steve provided, relaxing slightly at Dustin’s words.

“You love him?” Dustin asked.

“You love me?” Eddie asked from the doorway, clutching Dustin’s notebook tight to his chest.

Steve wasn’t used to keeping his crushes and relationships a secret. He was used to holding hands in the movie theater and kissing a girl goodbye at her door. He was used to being able to show how much he loved someone without a filter.

But with Eddie, he’d held back. He had to in some ways, and they agreed it was best not to give anything away around anyone else for a while, but he’d hoped that Eddie saw how much he cared about him when they were alone.

“I do. I thought it was pretty obvious,” Steve stepped closer to Eddie, ignoring Dustin’s presence entirely. “I love you.”

Eddie threw Dustin’s notebook to the side, ignoring the ‘hey!’ that Dustin let out, and pulled Steve into his arms.

“Can’t believe you told Dustin before you told me,” Eddie laughed against his shoulder. “You know he can’t keep a secret.”

“Yeah, well. I love you enough to not care if everyone knows,” Steve said as he wrapped his arms around Eddie’s waist, kissing the side of his head and lingering there for longer than he probably should in front of a guest. “Was gonna tell you tomorrow after our date.”

“You mean the super secret plans that you wouldn’t give me any hints about?” Eddie pulled away, searching Steve’s eyes. “Will you tell me them now?”

“Maybe when Dustin leaves.”

Both of them turned to Dustin, who was staring at them with a blank look.

“Dustin?” Eddie asked, snapping his fingers to get his attention.

“I’m gonna go,” Dustin said, still looking lost. “I won’t tell anyone.”

“Hey, man,” Eddie let go of Steve to walk towards Dustin. “We good?”

“Yeah! I just thought you guys barely even liked each other and you’re actually in love and having sex and I’m just trying to do the math.”

Steve snorted, but straightened out when Eddie glared at him.

“If you wanna talk about anything, you can stay. You seem kinda…out of it.”

“I’d rather not intrude right now,” Dustin said, gesturing to the way their hair and clothing was still a bit disheveled. “But you are gonna tell everyone soon, right? So I don’t have to keep it a secret?”

Eddie looked over at Steve, smiling when he gave him one nod in agreement.

“Yeah, dude. We’re gonna tell everyone at the next movie night,” Eddie said as he turned back to Dustin.

“Thank god!” He breathed out. “Then I’m leaving so you two can do…whatever it is you do.”

He didn’t wait for them to respond, rushing out the door, nearly forgetting his notebook again.

Eddie laughed as he slammed the door, his head falling onto Steve’s shoulder as they fell against the closest wall. Steve was holding Eddie up, laughing with him at the absurdity of being caught by their favorite, but most likely to tell everyone, kid.

“He’s gonna go tell everyone right now, you know that, right?” Steve gasped out between laughter.

“Oh yeah. We’ll be lucky to have another hour before they’re all showing up here with questions,” Eddie said breathlessly.

He pulled back to look at Steve, both of them flush with sudden relief that it was no longer a secret. He leaned in to kiss him once on the corner of his mouth, smiling when he felt Steve’s lips turn up.

“I love you,” Eddie whispered.

“Even though I made you wait to tell everyone?” Steve sounded unsure suddenly, like maybe Eddie would retract everything.

“You didn’t make me do anything, sweetheart. We both agreed to wait.” Eddie cupped his jaw and kissed him slow, much softer than where they’d left off before being interrupted.

No matter how much he enjoyed taking Steve apart, how much he liked seeing him covered in bite marks and bruises, he liked seeing him melt like this more.

“I love you,” Steve said against his lips, already letting Eddie take more of the weight he didn’t have leaning back against the wall. “Want you. Before they get here. Please.”

“How can I resist when you ask so nicely?” Eddie nipped at his bottom lip before pulling away. “Let’s go to your room this time. Don’t want any more interruptions.”

Steve nodded and led Eddie upstairs.

If the kids showed up in an hour, Eddie would make excuses for why Steve was asleep in bed, field their nosy questions, and ease some of the burden of coming out for Steve. If they didn’t, he’d get to keep showing Steve how much he loved him.

Over and over again. Until the whole world knew.

This is why many people have historically shipped them together. When you don’t have any representation at all in the media, when your existence is reviled and you can’t even legally live your life peacefully, you take what you can get.

I don’t think young people understand how gay life was back then. Adult adoptions between couples were not uncommon-and no, it wasn’t always a man preying on someone 20 years younger than him. Couples 3 years apart were adopting each other because that was the only way to let your partner inherit your estate, to visit you in the hospital, to legally be family. It wasn’t a kink, it was a safety net. Is it so hard to understand then, why people would look at Batman and Robin, and see parallels? Especially in a visual medium, where images can say or imply things that would not be written out in a book? Especially in comics, where everyone is so overly muscled that Robin often doesn’t look or act like a kid, or even a teenager?

It’s okay not to ship them. I don’t ship them. Shipping has ALWAYS been about grabbing crumbs of subtext and implied tension regardless of what the canon source says. Roddenberry didn’t intend for people to ship Kirk and Spock. Spirk fanworks were literally hidden under tables at conventions and people would sit under the tables to browse and exchange things. Nowadays it’s not illegal to produce gay media. But at the height of gay panic, when discrimination was not only tacitly legal, but done by the laws themselves, and the only gay people in media, though few, were either villains or played off as a joke, is it so hard to understand why people would look at some of those runs, and put two fictional people in a relationship?

(At the very least, just use the back button and the mute button and move on instead of playing purity police over something that’s not real. )

Zoro

Autistic and semi-verbal. Only communicates through echolalia of his crew's words. Has absolutely no social abilities. Stares at people VERY intensely. Has a hard time telling lies apart from the truth, because of that, developed the habit to be always aware about others. Suffers from understimulation and often has shutdowns, the only person able to help him in those situations is Luffy.

Is visually impaired due to an accident on the Kuraigana Island. Has a hard time with profundity and adapting to new environments, specially big ones. Sometimes uses his swords to tap around and know if there is an object he hasn't noticed yet.

Colorblind and dyslexic. Avoids reading because he feels embarassed due to internalized ableism. Has a hard time telling apart blue, green, yellow, purple and red. Nobody knew that until Chopper made an eyesight analysis on him, so now the crew helps him with some stuff.

Has tan skin and, for literally everybody's surprise, actually dyes his hair (even though he doesn't bath), as it's original color is black. Very tall, large on the bust and muscular. Has various scars through all of his body.

Very gay and also trans. Transitioned shortly before he met Kuina, never came out. Didn't have surgery cuz he thought it could disturb his sword abilities, so he just worked out his chest so much that it would look like that (he had small breasts, so it helped a lot). Still struggles with internalized transphobia, but is working on it, specially after Sanji came out. They dated a little before timeskip and after it went full on a relationship. It's weird, but it works for them (basically, they show off like they hate each other, but on backstage it's just love).

Basically only eats onigiri due to taste hypersensitivity, nobody other than Chopper knows how he manages to be so muscular eating only that (Chopper knows about his nutrient reposition).

Likes green and green only. Everything he has must have at least one shade of green on it.

Half of his echolalia is swearing. Likes to do it specially when fighting.

His promise is so that Kuina will be the only one ever above him, the only one able to absolutely defeat him. Sometimes, he feels like Kuina is there. His heart aches.

After timeskip, calls Kuraigana Island frequently, as he got very used to Mihawk and Perona's company (will never admit that he now got a dad and a sister).

Besties with Nami, very protective towards Usopp although he doesn't seem like. Likes sparing with Yamato and hanging around with Jinbei, as he usually leaves him alone. Hates Robin's teasing and Law's resting bitch face, although he also has one. Carries Bonney and Chopper around the ship anytime he can, Luffy's best bro ever (if Luffy ever could choose a best friend, it would probably be Zoro) as they went through a lot of shit together.

Has absolutely no music taste, will listen to anything even if it's not good. Everyone is fucking horrified.

Before Law joined, he would spend an entire fucking week on the same clothing. Now, Law will spank him if he does so. Zoro changes exactly ONCE a day, and they all look the same.

Scared of choking or asfixiating, will keep plastic (?) bags away from the ship at all costs.

Learned to play some shamisen as a kid, but very little. Due to time, is kind of bad on doing it, but he tried nonetheless in Wano.

After he got lost so many times, Usopp had an idea: to keep a balloon tied to his wrist so they could locate him from far away. Zoro does not like this at all (he still uses the balloon though).

Talks to his swords. He doesn't care if people stare, he needs to get to know their opinion. Cherishes them like nakama.

Even though he is not the most expressive guy, especially when it comes to expressions of love, he still will protect them when in danger no matter the cost.

Franky

Autistic, loves infodumping, special interest is obviously ships, no social cues so he just says whatever comes to his mind, super is a vocal stim, will often get emotionally overloaded and cry a lot.

Has PTSD due to the abandonment of his bio parents, panicks a lot when it comes to falling on the sea. Needs to stay around the crew when it happens.

Left leg amputee ever since his childhood, after he became a cyborg his special focus of the upgrades go to the left leg as he has a special love for this specific prostetic.

Very tall, large and muscular, thanks to hormonal blockers and testo. Hair was originally blonde and he used to dye it blue, but, after timeskip, it's natural. Has many scars through his torso.

Trans king, found out after he was taken in by Tom and started on hormones. Had a crush on Robin ever since he met het, but was kind of embarassed to say it until the end of Thriller Bark. Mom and dad of the crew (and Sunny's).

Likes working in the night more due to it being calmer, so his sleep schedule is a mess. He doesn't care, that way he can talk to Sunny without being interrupted.

Loves blue, yellow and red, includes those in everything he creates.

Never swears, just says weird words instead of it. Everyone other than the straw hats does not get it. He just says, idk, "bazooka" and the straw hats are like "GAAASP NOT IN FRONT OF BONNEY AND CHOPPER" meanwhile outsiders are like "???????"

Very clingy towards Robin, keeps hugging her at every opportunity and telling her he loves her, specially after timeskip as they made alliance rings for their relationship.

Regularly calls Iceburg and speaks for two hours about how Sunny is doing. It's common, whenever Luffy adopts a new nakama he makes a tour with them telling every single detail about the ship.

Hangs around a lot with Brook and Jinbei cuz they are really cool. Carries Luffy, Nami, Usopp, Vivi, Chopper and Bonney around the ship because they are all smaller than him (and won't kill him). Bros with Yamato, they like sparing (Yamato likes sparing with everybody, but that's not the point).

Loves Taylor Swift and eletronic songs, sometimes improvise some rap. It's horrible, but he tries.

Walks around the ship basically only in swimming trunks. Nami always yells at him for that, but everybody knows he'll never stop.

Is as scared of bugs as Sanji and Nami. Sprays insect repellent everywhere possible.

Surprisingly good at breakdancing. He really rocks at it.

Has a Den Den Mushi for each nakama. He just likes to verify them at most times. It's kind of tied to anxiety, but it helps him.

Stims in every way possible: visual, vocal, auditory, fidgeting, motor, biting. He just really needs stimming. Like, at all times. It's stronger than him.

Always working really hard to adapt to danger and keep Sunny and the crew safe. He does his best.

Jinbei

Autistic, but masked most of his life due to ableism (is learning to undo it now). Temperature hypersensibility, way too formal social script, loves fluffy and squishy stuff, fidgets a lot, rocks back and forth on his feet, has much flappy hands, has shutdowns that include self-harm.

Much taller than the rest of the crew, has a lot of scars, long beard and hair, fat and kind of muscular (he very strong).

Aroace dad, is very embarassed towards romantic and sexual relationships, but tries to be supportive. Just found out aroace existed and was mindblown. He kinda confused but he got the spirit. Robin's favorite victim of playfully flirting (he gets so embarassed it's funny).

After he entered the crew, he had a hard time being around Nami due to the guilt he felt, but they had a really long talk and now it got better. She is now his second kid (first is Koala) and likes hanging around a lot with him, very clingy towards him at the first sign of danger.

Never swears and scolds the rest of the crew when they do, specially when it's the younger ones. Very dad energy.

The most huggable person of the crew. Has received at least 2 hugs from everyone, which is a miracle considering Zoro and Law.

No favorite colour. Everyone calls him lame for that and he goes :(

Calls Koala daily as she is always with Sabo. Sabo is scared of Koala's dad, even though he is very chill with them dating.

Takes care of the younger nakama. Usually the one to pull akuma no mi users out of water. One of those to put the leash on Luffy to stop him from doing shit. Zoro keeps wanting a sparing match, but he refuses.

Likes traditional music, but does not deny any other style, as long as the song is good.

Usually wears traditional clothing cause he got so used to it he'd feel weird in any other clothes.

Scared of Robin. He likes her, it's just that she sometimes is so creepy he thinks she is going to kill him. Robin can never know this, of course.

Likes writing fanfic about other people. This comes from the time when he was a shichibukai and he wrote about his colleagues. It's a secret, of course, nobody can know.

Reads journal regularly and is the one in the most touch with the rest of the world's news when they are on the sea.

Likes touching his beard. It's fluffy. Because of it, they bought a plushie for him to sleep with. He cried because of his happiness.

Due to being big, strong and an ex-shichibukai, his very presence can make most malicious people go away. The crew grabs him along most times they get to an island.

Yamato

Autistic, special interest is Oden and sake. No social cues reading, speaks very loudly, doesn't know how to match face, tone and emotion, hyposensitive to sound, sake is comfort food (drink?), variates from meltdown to shutdowns in the lack of constant stim.

Has PTSD due to being imprisoned and spanked by Kaidou. Hates confined places and anything that might restrain him. People bigger than him usually make him very uncomfortable. Just as he entered the crew, Chopper started marking his appointments.

VERY tall and also muscular, with many scars through his body. Has some oni characteristics, like the horns and pointy teeth. Hasn't changed his appearance since he came out as he is actually very comfortable with it, so he sometimes just walks around the ship with his boobs showing.

The Trans Idol Ever (like Hatsune Miku). Even though he appreciates Ivankov a lot, he also really likes his body, so he doesn't feel the need to transition with hormones or surgery. Very gay too, dating Ace on distance (shut the fuck up Akainu) and they get really clingy every time they get to find each other.

One of the physically strongest nakama, nobody wins him in arm wrestling (at least, not before an hour). Likes sparing with everyone, specially Law. There's just something about him that gets to his nerves.

Loves orange and light green. It fits him.

Is learning how to swear after leaving Wano and Kaidou's influence. Almost always screams.

Third one to eat the most, right before Bonney and Luffy. They sometimes become truly Sanji's terror.

Loves sparing with everyone, but specially Zoro. Carries Luffy, Chopper and Bonney around cause they are much smaller. Listens to Franky's infodumping for many hours without blinking an eye. Is creeped out by Robin cause she keeps appearing behind him without making a single noise.

Has been exploring his musical side, and specially likes punk rock. It's wild. He likes it.

Doesn't change clothes from Wano just because of practical reasons. Just like Zoro, almost never showers, just with the bros (Law is scandalized with the lack of hygiene of these people).

Fears cats cause they are too unpredictable. They look like they wanna murder him.

Likes painting, specially on walls. It's actually very pretty, both Franky and Sunny approve.

Loves hearing the crew's stories. It's beautiful.

Stims from hitting/punching stuff. It varies from small objects to people. It's kind of wild.

Steddie Florist AU - Part 2

Part 1

Steve watched in a haze as Eddie stepped out the front door with his new dahlia. Of course this mystery man gravitated towards them, he thought to himself. They stick out in a crowd, are revered for their beauty, often symbolizing kindness and everyone that loves dahlias is obsessed with their moody aesthetic. Perfect for Eddie. Thankfully Robin wasn’t here today to poke fun at his now blossoming crush. He continued his usual tasks, happily letting thoughts of the bartender fill his mind. 4 hours, he can stop by the bar in 4 hours.

Eddie practically skipped the remaining block from the Flower Shop to the bar. Chrissy was already pulling down chairs from the tops of tables as he entered. “I finally walked in!” He announced. Her blonde ponytail whipped around as she placed another chair down. “You walked in? Like actually step foot inside?” she questioned, excitement woven into her tone. Eddie nodded as a smile stretched across his face. He held out the dahlia with Shakespearean flare knowing it would be proof enough. “He gave it to me on the house, so I offered him a drink tonight,” he smiled walking past Chrissy towards the rows of liquor behind the bar hoping to find something empty enough to use as a vase. It didn’t take long skimming through the shelves before he landed on a Tanqueray bottle he could rinse out. Chrissy made her way towards him to start prepping the garnishes, “A flower on the house?” “Yes, on the house.” Eddie reiterated. “I can’t believe the first time you actually step foot in there, the florist who you’ve been eyeing for months, flirts with you within what? 5… 10 minutes of you being there! And you arrive with a dahlia of all things,” Chrissy says in almost disbelief. Eddie had already rinsed the now completely empty bottle of gin and carefully unwrapped the flower from its tissue paper to place it in and out on the bar in full display, “So? It’s just a flower, he’s a florist, it’s a flower shop. He’s probably given loads of customers free flowers.”

The statement was as humbling as it was disheartening. Eddie wanted the flower to be a special moment between the florist and him. But romance was never company, not for any of the Munsons. Romance was a daydream. So the realist in him crushed any hopes of love before they could take root. No one had won the key to his gated heart. “Oh come on Eddie!” Chrissy scolded as she placed the lime knife down, “Dahlias represent long lasting bonds, love, devotion. Flowers have their own language and meanings. This man thinks you’re beautiful and I’ll bet he also has a crush on you.” Eddie was struck, dumbfounded, “What do you mean flowers have language? You can tell all that by a single flower?” “Yes, Eddie, I can. Lesbians know a lot about Victorian flower language. It’s a whole gay thing,” she explained. He humphed in curiosity, contemplating this new information, “Well don’t get my hopes up too high. I barely spoke to him and I can only pray to whoever’s out there he’ll even make an appearance later.”

Steve wrapped up his shift soon enough. Thankfully a customer’s custom bouquet order held his attention for the last 2 hours making the time fly by. He left the keys for Vickie to lock up as she arrived and he ran out the door. He sprinted back to his apartment, and opened the door to the small studio decorated with plants, paintings Robin made for him, and photos of him and his step-brother Dustin. Steve rushed through his shower so he could spend a decent amount of time on his outfit and hair before racing towards the Red Dragon. After much deliberation and a quick FaceTime with Dustin and his girlfriend Susie he settled on his light brown bomber jacket with the olive tinted elbow patches, a perfectly fitted off-white button up with a small leaf pattern, blue jeans and his slightly worn down converse. Susie suggested most of his clothes which was new territory for them but Dustin reassured him he looked like himself and not the straight-passing jock he typically would anywhere outside the shop. Steve smiled in the mirror as he did a final fit check, laughing at the accuracy in which Dustin described him then was out the door without any further hesitation.

Sir Stephan and Eddie know that they can't wed under the eye of Prince Henry (Vecna) and Bishop William plan to run away together and elope.

Max not knowing that her guardian the Bishop is madly in love with Eddie, tells him of their plans thinking that he could help them get away.

The Bishop is enraged that they would even think of running away and with the help of the Prince place a curse on the pair.

Five years later and Robin, who is a thief and escape artist extraordinaire breaks out of the town prison which was said to be inescapable.

Sir Thomas, the new head of the guard and the Bishop's right hand man is intent on capturing her to find out how she escaped.

She just happens to run into Sir Thomas and the guard right where Sir Stephan was trying to make it back to the center of Hawkins to kill the Bishop and he accidentally rescues her.

But in their running, they move farther away from the Hawkins much to Sir Stephan's ire. When they stop for the night, even though there is still plenty of daylight left, Robin gets annoyed. She wants to get away from the bad men after, stopping now does not accomplish that. So Stephan tells her to leave.

Robin weighs the two options and stays with the buff dude with a very big sword. And strangely a beautiful raven.

Stephan tells her that if she sees a large wolf, run away. Don't engage. He will not be responsible if it eats her.

Robin is confused, there haven't been wolves in the area in decades. But she doesn't argue afraid he'll just leave her behind. He also tells her that when the sun sets to lay out the clothing in right saddle bag and do not talk to the man who comes to get them.

So she does what she's told.

Mostly.

She talks to the young man. Learns his name is Edwin, but everyone calls him Eddie. He's sweet and awkward. And if she was attracted to men, she might just fall in love with him.

The wolf appears and Robin is terrified. But oddly Eddie is not.

Come morning, Stephan is back and the beautiful man is gone. Stephan calls to the raven and he lands on Robin's arm not Stephan's. And ooh boy does that cause a stir.

"I'm gay you daft creature!" she hisses, "Go back to your master!"

Stephan laughs for the first time and the raven lands on Stephan's wrist.

But the guard has caught up with them and a stray arrow hits the raven. Stephan is distraught. Terrified.

He rides for miles, hard and fast to a small fortress. It's run by a group of outcasts. Max, El, Dustin, Will, Mike, and Lucas. All run out of Hawkins for one reason or another.

Max carries the heaviest sin by far.

Stephan yells at the gate. "Come down here and help him. Now!"

They all come running and Robin is confused.

While El and Will seek to heal the bird, Max and Dustin feed Robin. She's worried about Stephan. But Dustin tells her Mike and Lucas have him.

Robin catches Will and El covering the body of a naked Eddie with a wound in his shoulder right where the raven was shot. So she gets the truth out of Max and Dustin about the curse that binds them together but keeps them apart. At night Eddie is a human and Stephan a wolf, and during the day, Stephan is a human and Eddie the raven. Never can they see each other.

Robin is upset. That's horrible.

But the Party has a plan. They just have to get Stephan to agree to it.

Come morning the bird is fully healed and they set off again, Max and Dustin following behind. Stephan refuses to listen to their plan and insists his going to kill the Bishop will break the curse.

The bishop is tired of waiting and sends out a wolf hunter, Yuri to kill Stephan.

There is a harrowing moment that night when poor Eddie and Robin think Stephan has been caught in one of these traps, but thanks to the quick thinking of Max and Robin they kill the hunter in one of his own traps.

But it's too close for comfort. They need to end this and fast.

They travel all day, getting nearer to the city once again. When they camp at night, it's near a frozen lake that they had skirted that morning.

Only when the wolf attempts to cross it, he falls in. And with everyone's help and the big ass sword, Robin manages to save the wolf.

In the morning before the sun fully comes over the horizon, Robin makes a lean-to casting Eddie in shadow long enough for Stephan to be human long enough to see Eddie before he fully transforms into a bird.

Robin tells Stephan that she lost the sword in the lake and Stephan in his anger pushes her. She lands on the ground and he sees the great big gouges from where the wolf had scratched her helping him out of the lake.

He apologies and hugs her.

They make it to the town and Max insists that if Stephan waits until the eclipse to kill the Bishop the curse will be broke for sure. But Stephan can't trust her. Tells her to kill Eddie if he fails. If the bells ring, he's failed.

He goes in and with a sword he takes off a soldier he kills attacks Mass.

He kills Tommy but before he can kill the Bishop, one of the guards manage to ring the bell just as the eclipse starts. Stephan is gutted.

But before he can kill himself, Eddie comes running in human.

The Bishop is pissed and tries to kill Eddie with his staff, but Robin slides Stephan's sword to him and he kills the Bishop, ending the curse for good.

*cradles your face in my hands* Do you, you see the vision? Can you? Because I can.

Dick went to prison in Titans?? -Rotten Anon

I'm getting ready for bed but this is SOOOOO FUNNY to me and I feel the need to tell you the context because it's just SOOO

Like Titans is a comedy. Strap in.

Also because you haven't seen the show, I could tell you anything about it and you would have to believe me, but please know that EVERYTHING I am about to tell you is 100% canon to HBO Titans and the fucking Wattpad style of storytelling is one of the reasons I love the show SO. FUCKING. MUCH.

TLDR: Dick got himself arrested on purpose because he wanted a big kid timeout. But like this post is SOOO long because once I get chatting about Titans I can't fucking stop 🤭😂

SO - partway through Season 2, the Titans have a Destiny's Child style breakup (but it's really more like a Fall Out Boy style hiatus because they all come back later) because Dick tells everyone that he liked about the circumstances of Jericho's death and they're all mad because he's a liar and because ?? he supposedly got Jericho killed. When Jericho's gay little ass admired Dick so much that he THREW HIMSELF in front of the sword (I can talk more about that in another post).

Anyway, everyone is mad at Dick so they leave Titans Tower and #quittheband (for now) and there is a 2 or 3 episode span where they are all doing very different things, and there is no explicit timeline for how long they are apart in these episodes. When it follows Gar, it explicit states that he is alone for 3 days before Conner wakes up and in those 3 days he gones insane from loneliness, BUT - the time also seems way longer than days (it seems way more like weeks or months) because it is enough time for:

Conner to get kidnapped by Cadmus and have his entire mind reprogrammed so that he is a Cadmus robot

Gar also gets kidnapped and has BRAIN SURGERY performed on him to become a Cadmus slave

Dawn and Hank move to somewhere in the countryside, start fixing up a house, break up, and then Hank relapses in his addiction and joins an underground fighting ring where he gets beaten up for money

Rachel gets adopted by a group of homeless teenagers

Jason and Rose go back to Gotham and break up SEVERAL drug rings as Robin and Ravager

And Dick goes to prison

And the circumstances of Dick's arrest are HILARIOUS to me

The Titans all go their separate ways, and Dick is in the airport, and Dick asks the person at the check in desk for a ticket to the most isolated place possible, which she says is Greenland - so you expect that he's going to do what he does best - emotionally (and in this case physically) isolate himself and cut himself off from everyone

But then he oh so randomly crumples up his ticket (clearly changing his mind about his plans) and he ATTACKS ONE OF THE AIRPORTS SECURITY GUARDS?? And he gets arrested on purpose. Because he basically - he went to prison on purpose because the way he thought of it, he "murdered" Jericho, so he needed to go to prison to pay for his crimes.

Aka - big baby put himself on a time out on purpose.

And the whole point of the storyline is that it helps him mature and become Nightwing. And there is this element of it that feels pretty White Savior - because when he goes into the prison, he vows that he is "done helping people", but then his bunk mates are all from Mexico and they are being deported - and in their hometown, because they refused to join a gang (or because they fought back against a gang? I wasn't 100% clear on that part) they will be killed if they return, so they are going to make a prison break in order to illegally stay in America to avoid deportation. And Dick helps them with their prison break

And one of them spoke of a spirit named Alezule (I am probably spelling that wrong) who is a protector/savior who will make sure they are safe, and it's like a blue bird (like NIGHTWING) - and the symbolism is insisting that when Dick helped them with their prison break, he was becoming Nightwing

There's also this parallel because one of his worst moments was using his costume and skills as Robin to disrupt a prison transport truck carrying the head of the Maroni (again, bad spelling) crime family - and he left him exposed to be killed by his enemies as revenge for his parents being killed. And this came back around and got his entire circus family killed

And this time he used his skills to disrupt a prison transport and saved a family when he had previously vowed not to help them. Idk

Anyway - another thing I find hilarious about it is that after a hallucination of Bruce Wayne that is projected by Rachel (again, I can expand in another post), gathers Dawn, Donna, Kory and Rachel at a diner together and "mansplains them into putting the Titans back together" (Kory's literal words) - there is a news story on TV about Dick helping the prison escape and Donna literally says "he's on his own, we're not helping him. Whatever cross he's on, he nailed himself to it" and like SHE KNOWS HIM SO WEEEELLL

And so Rachel convinces Kory to go 'save' Dick and so they BREAK INTO THE PRISON, beat up a bunch of prison guards, and when they find Dick, his cell is empty 🤭 because he is gone (and that is not even mentioning the Bruce hallucinations HE was having and the fucking weird ass epiphany he had)

Yeah. He just escaped prison and the show DOES NOT GIVE ANY DETAILS. The show completely glosses over how he did it. (Which is something I kind of love about Titans. They gloss over things that are kind of majorly important to focus on joke conversations and dramatic freak outs).

And so Dick has a federal warrant for his arrest on his head for the rest of the show that is NEVER mentioned again - unless Daddy Bruce somehow magically made it go away 🤷‍♀️

Steve thinks he's either cursed or he was still working off karma from his King Steve days.

Jonathan dating Nancy after Steve and her broke up, he got over that, even the cheating part. He understood why that happened and that at the time Nancy deserved someone better than who Steve was. But Steve thought he was better than that now, that he was a better person now, someone who deserved the same happiness.

Jonathan and Nancy had broken up since then, and Eddie had seemed to make it his mission to get Steve back with her. Eventually, Steve had blurted out he was bisexual which had lead to Eddie confessing he was also gay. The boys got closer after that and Eddie trusted Steve when he said he was over Nancy now, they both had a suspicion that she liked their favourite band geek anyway.

Steve's crush on Eddie had been inevitable when he thought about it. He was powerless to falling for the metalhead who was so sweet and caring to everyone and made Steve laugh and forget about the world for awhile. He almost told Eddie too, almost believed Eddie could like him too, maybe love him.

Until Jonathan fucking Byers had waltzed into Eddie's life. When the Byers moved back Jonathan and his new friend Argyle had come too, something about a pizza shop Steve hadn't listened much. But now Eddie was always at their apartment smoking together, or at the trailer together and Steve hated it. Eddie was always blushing around Jonathan too and called him pet names too, Steve had thought that was their thing.

Maybe Jonathan deserved Eddie.

Steve hated seeing them together. When Eddie called him to call off plans to smoke with Jon and Argyle, Steve wanted to cry. When he tried visiting Eddie he was always with Jonathan. It all came to a head when they came into Family Video one afternoon.

"I just think you're misreading the situation, Steve."

"I'm really not, Robs, I was too slow to tell him and now perfect boyfriend Jonathan Byers has swooped in again and saved the curly haired brunette from King Steve."

Robin was going to respond when the front bell rung, Eddie, Jonathan and Argyle coming inside.

He wrapped his arms around himself, squeezing his eyelids together to try and stop the stinging tears he knew were forming. He heard a knock on the door.

"Go away Robbie, I'll be out in minute."

The door opened anyway. Steve opened his eyes ready to te his best friend to leave again when he saw Eddie standing in front of him, eyes full of worry.

"Are you ok, sweetheart?"

Steve scrunched up his face at that. "Don't call me that, I'm not your sweetheart and I doubt your boyfriend would like you calling me that."

"Boyfriend?"

Before Eddie could say more all of Steve's emotions bubbled to the surface.

"Yes boyfriend, Eddie! I'm not blind I know you and Jonathan are together because you're always blushing around him and you're always hanging out with him and of course you'd choose him over me everyone prefers Jonathan over me. First Nancy and now you, I just thought I deserved to be happy this time but I'm not and Jonathan has come to take another person away from stupid King Steve again—" Steve felt he couldn't breathe properly, everything hurt, it felt like he was back in that bathroom at Halloween again. He was losing the person he loved again and to the same fucking man again.

"Hey, hey, hey, Stevie breathe for me ok, baby?"

Steve didn't have the energy to berate the nickname again, just tried to match his breathing to Eddie's. Eventually he felt the tightness in his chest loosen a bit.

"Sounded a little jealous, Stevie, is there something you need to tell me?"

Steve bit his lip, no point hiding it now, he'd dug a deep enough hole.

"I'm glad you don't have a boyfriend, but, would you like one?"

Eddie's smile grew, "If you're offering how could I refuse, sweetheart."

Steve leant forward and tentatively kissed Eddie's lips before Eddie moved forward deepening the kiss.

Later they would need to leave the backroom, and face Robin and the boys who had decided to leave them be and rate dumb movies until they were done. Now though, now they could just enjoy being together.

Steve wasn't cursed and he didn't have anymore karma to pay back for his King Steve days, he could finally deserve to be happy. The world could let both Steve Harrington and Jonathan Byers be happy. No jealousy necessary.

Today’s character is Steve Harrington!

Steve:

Since Steve grew up in the 70s and is currently in the 80s, he’s grown up in a time when labels for sexualities existed but weren’t commonly known especially since there’s no internet and he lives in a small town. He has also grown up in a era where lgbt wasn’t as accepted as it it is now.

Steve isn’t the most knowledgeable when it comes to Queer terms and only really started learning more about it after Robin came out to him. Before learning more he assumed that you either liked girls or boys which scared him a little when he started noticing that he was occasionally interested in men.

The first boy Steve ever had a crush on was Tommy. He remembered that when he was twelve they had a sleepover and whenever Tommy would nudge him or grab him while they were playing outside he would feel nervous but in a good way like he had butterflies. At the time this scared him a little and he convinced himself it wasn’t happening. He did, however, still remain friends with Tommy until their friendship broke apart in 1983. Steve never found out out that Tommy had feelings for him too because he eventually moved on from him.

Steve kissed a boy while on vacation once when he was around fourteen because they’d spent a lot of time together since their families were vacationing near each other and Steve had developed a small crush on him. He hadn’t realised it was a crush until they’d spent time together near a lake while exploring and both had kissed our of curiosity in a moment of piece while resting after swimming. The kiss was nice and it made Steve feel almost free but he also felt nervous. He didn’t bring it up once he was back in Hawkins since his parents wouldn’t accept it and he had no one else to talk to.

Steve was attracted to Billy though it was purely his looks because he found his personality awful. He felt nervous around Billy in both ways but always tried to remain snarky around him and act like he wasn’t bothered.

After learning about Robin he found that he learnt more about sexualities and was able to learn and understand what bisexuality is. He tried explaining one day to Robin that he wasn’t gay because he had genuinely loved Nancy and had even crushed on Robin before finding out she was gay and Robin had to explain that it was okay to like both men and women. This helped Steve a lot in accepting himself as he now knew a lot more.

Steve isn’t ready to come out yet to anyone but Robin because she’ll understand the most out of everyone but he still takes time to learn more on it not just for himself but to support Robin. Both of them once Steve starts feeling more comfortable talking about his sexuality talk about their crushes and who they find attractive.

Steve’s type is very much people with long and wavy hair. He also likes strong minded people, which is why he wasn’t surprised but still a little annoyed when he developed feelings for Eddie Munson. Although Eddie shares a lot of traits with most of his past crushes, Steve still finds him a little confusing and has an unrelated jealously about Dustin preferring him. Once he gets over that he starts seeing more positive things about Eddie.

Steve has had crushes on Tommy, Nancy, Robin, Billy, Eddie and many others.

Another Headcanon

This headcanon can go along with the other headcanons but I also see it on its own being the one that would most fit canon if they had ever decided to give Steve a lgbt storyline

Asexual - Steve has spent most of his teen years thinking that sex and his looks are very important to remain popular. He’s slept with a few women and gone on a few dates but never felt like any of it felt right. I think that Steve being asexual would fit him because I believe that he would be someone who does feel sexual attraction but not very often but in his teen years convinced himself that sex was the only important part of a relationship but it isn’t. His friends help him understand that he doesn’t need to have sex to have a fulfilling relationship and that if it’s something he wants he can but he doesn’t have much sexual desire.

This last one is more to fit canon and I mostly headcanon the ones above however I think being asexual fits Steve a lot and you can be asexual and bisexual.

Modern no upside down AU where Steve becomes a firefighter because it’s self indulgent and I need it. fair warning I have no idea how to become a firefighter

After his senior year of high school, Steve’s parents cut him off. They’d graciously let him live at home still, but since he didn’t get into any of the fancy colleges his father wanted him to study business - he’d have to get a job. Learn some work ethic. Learn humility. Learn this his father provides, and his father can also take away. His mother looks at him sadly, but doesn’t say anything.

Him and his coworker Robin stay late doing inventory and cleaning before they lock up when the mall catches fire. They were supposed to have done it during the day, taking turns manning the counter. But Dustin bursts in with an “emergency” and it successfully distracts Robin and him enough that they have to stay late. If they don’t get it done they’re done. No one knows that they’re there. They were supposed to have cashed up and left hours ago. The only people in the mall should be security and the people at the movie theatre.

And then the building’s on fire and the alarm system isn’t working as it should and someone needs to take charge and get them out and he guesses that it’s him. Steve doesn’t think about it, he just knows it’s an emergency and knows people need to get out. Robin’s trying not to panic and sort of failing, so something in Steve switches and he takes charge. He’s calm. He’s trying so hard to keep his breathing in check.

He saves Robin. He protects Dustin. He makes sure Erica is safe. He gets them all out and uses his lifeguard first aid training to help the wounded. Billy dies. Hopper gets hurt. Bad.

One of the firefighters asks him if he has any training. He says just first aid. They tell him he has a real knack for this. Has he ever thought about being a first responder? So he goes through EMT Training, and the fire academy and then he’s a firefighter. Working in a big station in Indianapolis, living in an apartment with Robin while she continues to study and research and write and do whatever she wants to do.

Eddie grew up in Indy. Moved there with his Uncle Wayne after all that shit with his dad went down. He dealt, he got into trouble, he tried to help Wayne as much as he could. Eventually he got a real job, working in a hole in the wall music store, performing with his band whenever he can. Moved into a shitty apartment with Gareth, Jeff, and the unnamed band member; where they blast metal and eat pizza and stay up late playing xbox and playing DnD.

They know he’s gay, so for Christmas one year Gareth gets him their local fire station’s sexy firemen calendar. 12 full months of local hot firemen posing shirtless with puppies and kittens from a nearby shelter. Gareth jokes about how Eddie’s so single, maybe this can help give him a helping hand. Eddie glares at him as Gareth laughs his ass off. Eddie threatens to put the calendar up in their kitchen. It takes a couple of drinks before he admits that Mr July is Exactly his type. Hot as fucking hell.

Styled and swoopy brown hair, strong jaw, plump lips, thick chest hair; and holding a tiny black kitten. He doesn’t know whether he wants to hold him down and lick his chest, or let Mr July pin him to the side of the fire truck and kiss him senseless. Or both. Definitely both.

Steve’s fellow fire-fighters wolf whistle at him when they find he made July. Everyone knows the hottest people get the hottest months. He buys Robin a copy for Christmas who fake gags but supports him endlessly (and he decidedly does not mention the sexy photoshoot and calendar to Dustin and his Nerd Squad, who promptly find out anyway.) They request a copy so they can make fun of him (and support the station, I guess.). Dustin says its weird seeing his Brother all sexy and shit. Max, and El look at each other and giggle. Will gets all shy.

Time passes, and months later the Sexy Fireman Calendar is in fact up in Corroded Coffin’s kitchen. It’s slowly become their main calendar for keeping track of shows, DnD games, vacations and other random apartment shit. One evening they’re fucking around at home doing not much at all. Jeff is plucking out tunes on his bass. Gareth and the other one are playing the laziest game of Go Fish on a ratty deck of cards. And Eddie is scrolling through Tinder. Fucking sue him.

He falls off the couch when he sees who pops up. Thrusting his phone in the guys faces because fuckiNG LOOK HOLY SHIT. And it’s Mr July himself. Steve. They all hunch over Eddie’s phone to look at his profile together. There’s a photo of him outside in some garden, sunglasses on his head, wearing a summery button up in a pastel pink colour. It has tiny ice cream cones on it (Robin bought it for him). His eyes shine when he smiles and there’s a perfect swoop of hair falling into his face. A photo of him and some teen with curly hair, him wearing a soft yellow sweater as they smile into the camera. A photo of him wearing a worn grey tshirt that has the Indianapolis Fire Department’s logo over one pec. He’s posing next to the fire truck itself.

Eddie swipes right and it’s a fucking match.

To avoid election night news, I decided to rewatch “Birdcage”, a 1995 comedy starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman and Hank Azaria. It was directed by Mike Nichols with a script by Elaine May. They were a very successful comedy duo between 1957–1961, before charting their own path. With that comedic pedigree, Birdcage was a critical and financial success (making $185 million against a $31 million budget).

I wish I could say it holds up well. Both Nathan Lane (who is Gay) and Hank Azaria (who isn’t) play extreme gay stereotypes which I don’t find funny 30 years later.

The core premise of the plot is also off putting. Williams’ character has an adult son which he and Lane’s character raised. But when the son’s fiancé drops by with her conservative parents, the son expects Williams & Lane to remove every trace of their gay life from their apartment, and play straight for the evening. The movie ends (spoiler alert) with everyone in drag (including Hackman) doing a conga line.

The son, played by Dan Futterman, is so fucking ungrateful to the couple who raised him - and selfish to the extreme. BTW, Futterman’s character is suppose to be only 20 years old, but the actor was 30 when the film was released… and he looked it. This makes his callousness more off putting. Maybe you’d excuse an immature 20 year old, but not a 30 year old.

Calista Flockhart, the fiancée, was suppose to be 19 but was actually 31.

It’s based on the 1978 comedy La Cage aux Folles (aka Birds of a Feather). I haven’t seen it in a very long time. Hopefully it’s aged better, as a vintage French comedy from a much earlier time.

Okay, I've had this wild ass Stranger Things/Marvel crossover in my brain for ages (early 2023) & I'm never going to actually like write it write it but let me try to make it somewhat comprehensible so someone other than me can hopefully lose their minds over it

so, basically, season 4 stranger things canon compliant - Eddie "dies" - season 5 they somehow defeat Vecna blah blah you know there's some added trauma everything is wrapped up in a neat bow life moves on all of that (and no one else dies cause fuck you)

So - Nancy goes off to Emerson & Robin goes to Berkley (or wherever you want her to go) and Jonathan goes to community college & keeps focusing on his photography & Steve waits until the kids graduate high school and then just goes and roadtrips his way through America his parents never cut him off despite their disappointment and so he decides he's going to make use of it until they do (spoiler: they never do)

For the last two years of Uni Nancy falls out of touch with everyone else and by that I mean she stops picking up her phone, stops coming back to Hawkins for the holidays, doesn't come back during the summer, and the only reason they know she's okay is because Ms. Wheeler swears she's still in contact with Nancy. Steve fully expects her to completely disappear after she graduates but she randomly shows back up in Hawkins after she graduates and reconnects with everyone.

I know technically Robin would be a year behind Nancy but I think due to upside down bullshit they end up starting college at the same time, so they graduate at the same time as well.

Robin, Steve, and Nancy move to New York City and share an apartment because rent expensive. Jonathan and Argyle move to San Francisco together. The kids are scattered for college and Erica is probably still finishing up high school. (pairings and romance are irrelevant in this universe)

Robin gets a job at a museum doing something linguistic related (idk what kind of jobs there are okay just roll with it), Nancy is desperately trying to break into journalism but she is the way she is and never wants to write what they want her to write so she's struggling there, and Steve breaks up one too many fights outside of various gay bars because he's never met a fight he'll fucking back down from and ends up getting hired on as a bouncer at some bar in Brooklyn (because I think I'm funny).

Nancy is her general self and at some point over the course of the 90's, she keeps sticking her nose in places she really shouldn't be sticking her nose, because she literally cannot leave well enough alone and we already know she has a grudge the size of Texas against the government and she, because out of all of them of course it's her, catches the eye of SHIELD.

so Nancy Wheeler gets hired on at Shield as an operative and unfortunately (for SHIELD) when Fury looks at her goes "this is classified sign these NDA's" what Nancy hears is "this is classified from everyone except for Robin and Steve and jonathan and joyce and mike and el and etc" because that group has never heard of a secret big enough to keep from each other, not after everything they went through

it takes Fury two years to realize that "oh yeah, this is my roommate Robin Buckley and her best friend, my ex, our other roommate, Steve Harrington" because he "ran into them" on the street (aka he had a weird feeling about the latest recruit and was sussing them out) actually just know classified shield secrets and he's so mad it took him that long to realize it and long story short they also get recruited because "recruitment is the nice option here, Agent Wheeler"

Fury still doesn't honestly realize how many people in their extended family/friend group know about the most random shit and god fucking bless the day he realizes El exists

Now Nancy and Steve are both field agents. Nancy does a lot of investigative and research stuff. Robin probably doesn't do field work because well you know but I'm sure there's something linguistic you could do in SHIELD for spy stuff. Idk. This kind of stuff is exactly why i'm not actually writing this fic.

Robin and Steve mostly keep to themselves but Nancy does branch out some, more in the name of having connections than because she cares about making friends, but still. Steve and Robin are still only 50% sure if Nancy is like really invested in her job or like lowkey trying to figure out if there's anything to expose, either way they know Nancy doesn't actually trust shield

In 2001 Natasha joins SHIELD. Which of course means that presumably Clint and Coulson were already there. I do not know when Clint joined SHIELD and I refuse to put in the effort to figure it out good god.

Nancy, Robin, and Steve do not, for the most part, interact with Nat, Clint, or Coulson. They obviously know of each other but contact is limited. Also something something about Steve and Robin being exceptionally wary of Natasha and going out of their way to conspicuously avoid her because Robin speaks Russian -> Natasha speaks Russian -> season 3 trauma -> reformed red room Russian assassin

Nancy, meanwhile, has absolutely without a doubt been trying to figure out if SHIELD had at any point had a hand in the whole upside down mess and if we really think about it doesn't that just sound like something Hydra would have been involved in. I mean. Come on.

Anyway, in May of 2004 Nancy Wheeler goes out on a seemingly normal field mission and never comes back. She's reported missing in action, presumed dead. The rest of her team also goes missing with the exception of one body that's found.

Now, let's go back a ways and consider Eddie. Consider Hydra. Consider all of our lovely Eddie survived theories. Consider the winter soldier and cryofreeze and how Hydra has never passed up an opportunity to create/gain a new weapon. Consider how I'm sure an undead creature of whatever kind likely goes on ice pretty damn easy.

Back to Nancy Wheeler who is a little too good at investigating, because in a fight of stubbornness she is absolutely going to be the winner, and there are a lot of secrets hiding at SHIELD. And she's managed to get a handful of secrets under her belt and is getting close enough to some others that Hydra decides preventative measures are needed before she has a chance to get closer.

Nancy's mission handler is the one who is found dead after the mission where she goes missing. Gunshot clean through the throat and Nancy is presumed dead because they also find a good amount of her blood smeared around. SHIELD thinks she's dead but Hydra knows that she got away. So Nancy Wheeler is officially on the run.

Nancy's got just enough secrets to fuck Hydra's plans up if Shield proper finds out about them, even if she's not 100% aware of the full scope of it and so she gets away and they send the winter soldier after her. But Nancy ran straight to El's and El took her to Kali (because we're bringing her back goddammit).

coincidentally, in June of 2004, Jane Hopper drops off of the map without a word to anyone and the rest of the party ends up congregated in the basement of the bar Steve used to work for. Two Party Members Missing, one of which is presumed dead by all official authorities, and Steve and Robin know just enough about what Nancy was looking into that they're not super confident that whoever won't be after them next.

by the time 2008 rolls around and Tony becomes iron man all the party can say for sure is that Nancy and El are alive and together.

Steve and Robin still work at Shield but they got louder after Nancy left, they made sure their names were really well known by everyone and that making them disappear quietly wasn't really an option

tony becomes iron man, which really impact very little about this other than Steve and Robin have this moment of "huh.....flying robot suits, neat, Dustin's gonna love that"

Dustin is in fact elated about this

blah blah life continues on, the party is trying but for the life of them none of them really know what exactly was the last straw that had someone, presumably in shield, try to have nancy taken out and Nancy and El still haven't resurfaced so presumably that person is still after them

So, what was the final straw? Why did Hydra decide she had to go? Well. She finds the name Eddie Munson in a report full of redacted paragraphs and that name wouldn't ring a bell with 99% of shield but Nancy immediately narrows in on it because why the fuck does any report in shield have any business having eddie's name in it and this is where she made a mistake because Nancy doesn't keep secrets from the party but she also had been living with Steve and Robin for a decade+ and she'd watched Steve go a little too quiet every time Dustin brought Eddie up for years and she knows Robin can't keep a secret from steve to save her life and she felt that it was cruel to get their hopes up based on nothing but a blacked out piece of paper and no other clues

so she never says anything, just keeps digging and its not necessarily that she understands the information she has or has any idea of the big picture, i think she just has a fistful of clues that she doesn't realize connect, or she can't tell how they connect but all it would take is one or two more pieces and she'd have enough of a picture for it to be a Major Problem and hydra decides to nip it in the bud early instead of waiting for her to put the picture together

now from 2003-2012 while the party are desperately trying to figure stuff out without setting off alarm bells and getting themselves murdered by the government Nancy goes to El because she knows El can protect herself the best if anyone manages to follow her and then she goes to Kali because that's where El sends her - El goes with her because it's easiest for her to find Kali and she isn't sure Nancy will manage on her own but she never intends to stay - unfortunately, before El can leave them, The Winter Soldier shows up

Fortunately for the girls: he's alone because Hydra has too much faith in their soldier and underestimate the fuck out of Nancy Wheeler

Unfortunately for Hydra: It's pretty hard for the Winter Soldier to fight when he can only see what Kali is allowing him to see

Anyway, the winter soldier is subdued with minimal injuries all around but ofc when he doesn't report back the rest of the Hydra team come looking for him and El ends up being seen so she's also on the run now. But the girls take Bucky with him and somehow they end up breaking through to him. No, I don't know how. Just go with it. We have two super-powered girls and Nancy Wheeler. I'm sure they managed it. I'm sure there's a lot of fighting and yelling and screaming and backsliding but the important thing is they do get through to him. Enough that he's now on the run with them willingly.

so then it's the four of them on the run trying to figure out how to bring Hydra down and not doing a super hot job of it because hydra won't get off their tails long enough for them to properly plan. the only reason they manage to get a note to any of the party at all is because Bucky manages to slip inside the hospital Erica works at and slip a note in her desk. the hospital is big enough to provide a cover for who they were trying to contact and hydra assumes they were going after medical supplies. which they were but that was a secondary mission.

And then it's 2012 and the battle of new york commences in grand fashion. Steve and Robin are on the ground in New York City when the wormhole opens in the sky because it was supposed to be their day off and so they're not ya know part of the avengers but well they're certainly not civilians and to their great disgust they end up fighting aliens too

also side note: backtracking to when Loki originally shows up in the avengers movie, Fury happens to overhear Robin and Steve offhandedly talking about loki and theorizing over how far his powers extend (they spend too much time around the kids) and he does that dramatic thing he does where he steps out of the shadows and goes "That is an alien calling himself a God. Neither of you seem surprised by either of these facts." and Robin and Steve just kind of look at each other and shrug

Steve: I'm more surprised by how well he matched the dress code for that event than the fact that he thinks he's a god

Robin: they always think they're a god don't they?

Fury:

Steve brightly: At least he looks human! It would suck if he looked like a walking muscle suit or something equally gross!

Robin: Yeah! No tentacles! Human shaped! Normal looking skin! At least it's easy to tell where to shoot!

Fury has had a weird feeling about these two since the day he's met them and the weird feeling just keeps getting weirder but fuck if he knows why and he doesn't really have time at the moment to worry about it.

so the battle is happening and steve and robin are on the ground fighting and out of the corner of his eye at one point Steve sees a flash of dark hair coming towards him and turns around so fast he slips on alien blood and eats shit, now, inconveniently for Hydra, they were planning on taking advantage of the general chaos to conveniently dispose of their other two problems (steve and robin) and well they're down one soldier but eddie's never given them any problems before, they point at where to kill and he goes, they're pretty sure he's just a mindless creature honestly

the point though is that Steve sees Eddie and Eddie sees Steve and then vanishes, goes completely rogue. Because see the thing is, Eddie only goes where he's pointed when taken out of cryo because he's too hungry to think. But, the problem with being feral and not quite human is that animals you know think in terms of packs and family and Eddie's brain stubbornly managed to carry that over when he got turned. So, in his brain the party is just "pack, family, safe". But he's also been in out of cryo for like 26 years or so and so it's not like he's doing well. And seeing Steve basically just sends him on the fucking fritz.

One day far far far into the future Bucky and Eddie will get a fucking hoot out of teasing the two Steve's about how similar they are. And also I just think the cinematic parallels are funny.

And yeah. I didn't have a lot of ideas of where the fuck to go over that because I kind of destroyed the MCU framework. CAtWS is kind of fucked because like one of the main characters of the central plot is no longer present. Is project insight still happening? idk. how is it fixed if it is? Idk.

One thing to note that I think is fun, is just take a moment to let it sink in that Nancy "cuts the barrel off of a rifle" Wheeler is on the run with the winter soldier. and their other two companions are both super-powered girls with questionable morals. I'm pretty sure El's main moral is "don't hurt my friends". and well look at that, a large portion of the government is trying to kill at minimum one of them. Also, the the El & Kali & Bucky being kept in a government facility against their will and experimented on trauma bonding.

I do imagine a lot of this would come to a a head in 2014 when the CAtWS movie would be taking place. It seems like the point it would all come to a head timeline wise. Because somehow I just know Steve Rogers is going to get wind of Bucky being alive. And where Bucky is Steve follows, which means Nat and Sam get pulled in I'm sure. And it probably all just spirals from there.

Other funny side thoughts I had about this:

Please imagine Mike Wheeler interacting with Tony Stark. It is the funniest possible thought to me. Tony would absolutely push his buttons and even if Mike does think he's kind of cool he's gonna double down on pretending otherwise out of pure principle.

Steve Harrington meets Steve Rogers and it turns out there is something worse than One Stubborn Righteous Little Shit and it's two of them who have teamed up

Nancy and Natasha hit it off really well eventually and yes, it's terrifying

Surprisingly Tony and Robin hit it off, because Robin likes to theorize impossible ideas for fun but Tony Stark has never heard of an impossible idea in his life and so it just ends in chaos

Dustin ends up working at Stark industries. This is only tangentially related to the rest of this. He ends up getting a job there after Uni and I'm sure it ends up playing a part in the plot later on down the line but at the time it's just Dustin being super smart.
