Like just single dad space cowboy Lance au, that keeps rotating in my head, absolute bullshit but just know it is inspired by Smokin Joe Rudeboy by Tom Cardy
#It is such a funny au (to me) nothing makes sense#Basically it starts with s2 Shiro survives Zarkon dies but Black Lion is also VERY damaged=>#This leads to the war to be in bit of a standstill for few years=>#Keith still does his whole went with BoM missions thing =>#At some point with more years later there is a major fight that breaks up the team =>#Lance runs away and gets stuck in what is essentially the Mid Western Cowboy theme part of the universe =>#(It is a very big part of the universe btw) =>#He lives a few more years as an outlaw travelling from one yeehaw planet to another yeehaw planet =>#And then meets this very feral 11 year old who is on a hunt to fight her shitty ass dead beat dad=>#Lance who hasnt seen any of his friends or family in years is like 'is anyone gonna adopt this child?' and didnt wait for an answer =>#But yeah this girl is familiar and Hang On!! =>#Yeah so her dead beat dad turns out to be Keith. Now she cld be a clone (makes more sense) or result of a one night stand (funnier) =>#But point is she really wants to fucking fight him and Lance is like 'ok how about you just tell him to fuck off instead?' =>#Also Kuron is there. Lance found him and Kuron was like 'Lance you found me! It has been years dont you remember i am Shiro!!'#And Lance who has been ghosting Shiro for years is like 'no you are not?' clone revealations. Pidge kinda ruined Voltron. [to me at least]
I'll probs go into more detail later- but re-watching Voltron and knowing what I know now I kinda realised...Pidge kinda monopolised the show.
Here me out. In the first/second season it took it's time developing ALL characters they all had moments. But it felt as if in later seasons Pidge story kept developing, finding her father [a reunion] then thinking matt died which emotional, had flashbacks of her and matt sending codes to each other, flashback of her hacking Iversons computer- found brother had an emotional moment, and overall kept getting story that was shown.
Compared to Allura who we never see more of her talking about Altea, her life her father or even her mother. Compared to Keith whom we never see him getting expelled from the garrison or even a flashback to his childhood.
Compared to Katie who HAD a happy ending after and seem to be doing fine, all the other characters were kinda shafted.
And thank god she WAS there she was always there to save the day - everyone would be dead without Pidge. Didn't she do something to the castle when Kuron set it to explode to delay the time coz of COURSE she did. Also the bob/God episode where she was the only one trying to escape and use the golf ball to hit the camera like obvs- it's like she was a mary su-
But the thing is there was nothing WRONG with katies story, it's just comparing her family/flashbacks and happy ending WITH both her reunited with her brother and father-
Compared to the other characters it's like the war barely touched her.
Even though Hunk was also tech savy you wouldn't think it in the show, compared to her moment with matt and us the audience learning how they both had coded messages for each other and comparing that to Keith and his own Mother!
I freakin HATED this "Exposition Comet." that just TOLD Keith and the audience everything about each other- like their bonding happened OFF-SCREEN. And that would be fine if they didn't have Pidge to compare to, so it's like, we KNOW you can write compelling writing and yet you just choice not to do it. Like isn't Keith the main character? The fact that we didn't have him talking about his dad- it was just...shown in a blink and you miss it flashback. with NO dialouge. This Comet they were in just MAGICALLY told them each others life story so they didn't have to verbally talk to each other for two years, the comet gave them a convienent space wolf that could MAGICALLY transport from one place to another. This Comet ALSO told Keith that the Shiro is a clone.
Like we were just TOLD the story, and that happened a lot in voltron where it just...skipped over so much development, dialouge and such. Again if it wasn't for season one and two to compare to we would say thats just how Voltron writes it's story. And also also-
The "Exposition-CONVINIENT Comet," also delivered them to a secret Altean Planet where Lotor is *gasp* evil and using them as batteries and of COURSE they find Romelle who happened to witness her brother being turned into a prune at the same time as Keith/Kroila appeared.
Like I hate how that episode just RUSHED it, but then we see Katie's journey of finding her brother [by herself coz duh, she can do anything thank god for PIDGE if she wasn't there Voltron would forget how to wipe it's own ASS]
I mean KEITH is supposed to be the main character, and watching the old classic Voltron so are Allura and Lance are the main characters but god the show is just pidge-pidge-pidge.
And even re-watching season 2 episode one sure Keith and Shiro have a moment against the space raptors but she's also in the ep [and this is where I see the favourtism start]
Pidge is about to wait for the others to find her but nope- she uses a space satellite which thank GOD if she didn't Allura wouldn've escaped the wormhole and Keith/shiro would have been eaten by space raptors thank GOD for Pidge.
[I know I sound bitter but I thought Pidge story was a SIDE quest and have the other characters get more development, like Allura thinking back on Altea about their culture, cuisine how she acted as a princess before Zarkons war etc did she and her dad mess around with building space crafts? like c'mon. Or keith getting expelled?]
I love how even the Shiro/Keith flashback to Kerboros Katie is RIGHT THERE IN THE BACKGROUND like stay in your freakin lane!
I swear if I was in charge of a voltron reboot I would kill her father Sam Holt to make her feel how Allura feels.
"We have a lot in common-"
"Yeah but my dads still alive." Like Pidge is just a straight up bitch.
When someone said the creators related to Pidge I get it now- they couldnt be more obvious. -_-
Also look at how Pidges FAT HEAD is almost blocking Allura- Stay in your lane!

Honestly, my theory was this:
S3-s8 was heavily edited to keep Shiro in the series because his character was very popular and at the cost of Keith’s scenes as a leader.
Keith’s hands revealing he was Galra was suppose to be the build up to fighting against Lance in the episode “the black paladins”— it would have made sense to be “the red paladins”. Why do I believe this? Frames are obviously edited and Shiro (Kuron) never had a sword and the “sword” given is highly similar to Lance’s Altean sword and I’m talking about the outline.
Shiro’s nightmares or thoughts of himself may have been imagining himself as a full out Galra and Haggar most definitely tormented him on the sidelines until the fight between the red paladins.
All the interactions of Lance and Shiro were suppose to be Keith and Lance, I say this because their interactions in confiding each other began in s3 before Keith left the group. So imagine in s6, Haggar believes she has full control of Keith or his Galra genes took over and he’s freaking out.
Either way, the whole fight ends with Lance bringing Keith back to the group fighting Lotor— it’s also possible he didn’t bring Red with him and had no chance but to pilot Black to make it home or a possible scene of he and Keith talking to make their way back.
As for s7, it would make sense why the bond between those two is on point and strong— all interactions between them is suddenly gone. They are brief and subtle.
I also believe that Pidge was meant to be in the middle of the game and Lance was beside Keith. It makes sense because there are hints of those two subtly beside each other but it was edited— just what I believe, I know many would argue. Great editing exists. That’s just me.
Anyway, Keith is probably feeling the worst because of how he fought Lance and left the team, which would make sense why Lance calls him out for being a lone wolf, he’s always trying to run away from his problems.
Plus the leaving him to be leader and grabbing Acxa, forming the wings together. If you remember— Lance is edited to suddenly be with Allura in every scene— I feel like it was suppose to be Romelle. They were suddenly close friends in s7-s8.
Now skip to Hunk finding his family. I strongly believe this was suppose to be about Lance finding his family. The flashbacks were meant to be Lance being playing with his niece and nephew— that scene we got in his reuniting was very odd and out of place.
I feel like the return to earth was suppose to build character for Lance’s confidence in himself as a Paladin. Keith helps him find his parents, Veronica found their parents with the Mfe group. All is reunited but Lance is livid for Sendak imprisoning his family.
As for the scene where Lance and Allura come together to help each other in their lions to protect earth— I feel like Allura is heavily edited from Keith’s outline. This season was suppose to show the growth of these two as a team.
S8 may have been a romantic hint or at least a build up— again why? Take it from where Allura was edited into Keith’s outline because I don’t think they were ever meant to be together. I believe she was strongly focused on moving forward and finding Lotor later in the season.
The date episode could have been everyone invited to Lance’s family dinner. The group could’ve went to find clothes appropriate for dinner since Keith doesn’t fit clothes other than the garrison fit.
Honestly it could’ve been anything but it doesn’t make sense why the Lance and Allura kissing scenes were censored and blocked. Since Keith and Lance are originally blue and red paladins— they make purple— the colour surround Allura which is pink is heavily implied on it.
Also, Allura may have cancelled dinner because of Luka waking up. Maybe Lance was suppose to try a last attempt impressing Allura since she’s not with Lotor— that would make sense and he broods about her cancelling and it brings Keith to the sunset scene. That’s my imagination or theory on the date episode.
Plus looking back at Heart of a Lion episode— Keith could’ve told Lance to be careful, his attempt at being open and vulnerable. Could be platonic— who knows, Keith is just trying to open up more and had there been more accurate interactions between the two in s6, it makes sense for Keith to talk with Lance more as a norm— the whole “got your back” trope that’s building to a strong bond. Who knows, because the studio was doing fine in naturally building same sex relationships since Shiro and Adam were confirmed for the series.
Plus apparently Shiro came back with Krolia? That was the first idea but it was scratched cause they kept him anyway. Shiro is probably making his rounds to be captain of the atlas because what else can he do?
So they leave out to space for s8. Allura finds out Lotor may be alive and investigates— she finds Lotor and brings him back to the Atlas. I believe the scene with Lance and Allura in the medical room was suppose to be Allura and Lotor. Lance’s outline is similar to Lotor and in canon, Lotor is taller than Allura. The features are very similar.
Even on the festival episode, Keith and Lance are definitely checking the place out but Keith just isn’t the type— he still can’t relax. I do believe Shiro was meant to be arm wrestling because of his arm.
So anyway, Lotor wakes up and the search for Honerva and her plans are revealed. Lance is likely to doubt the plans because she’s a dangerous woman— which could be why Keith and Lance confide in each other and pretty much announce their bond will never change or they always have each others backs.
Now if we skip to where the atlas and Voltron combine— you’ll notice one of the face slides is larger than the rest. I theorize that Lotor was meant to be there. The end is where either Lotor and Allura say goodbye to the paladins or they get their parental conclusion and say goodbye to their parents to restore and rebuild Altea than what Lotor had planned in the first place.
It’s possible Allura was saying goodbye to Lotor or that whole kissing scene was added to make sense of Allura and Lance. MAYBE both have joined their parents— possibilities because the lions leave the paladins in the end and the galaxy picture of Allura and Lotor’s body.
Maybe Adam never died and found his way in s7, could’ve been imprisoned by Sendak instead of dead. So Shiro finally marries him properly in the end. If Keith and Lance were meant to be in a relationship then it would be hinted at Keith and Lance during Shiro’s wedding.
So many possibilities.
That’s just what my brain thinks of the heavy outline edits and sudden plots inserted from s3-s8.
Regardless— I still love what VLD is in the end but my brain cannot fathom obvious edits and out of balance inserts in story or character development plots.
There I said it all! I will now leave this behind me~

My complicated opinion on Keith Kogane
Keith Kogane is definitely one of the more popular characters in the VLD fandom. People love brooding emo bad boys.
My feelings on Keith are... complicated. I definitely don’t hate him. I have a lot of problems with the character but I don’t think I could ever bring myself to actually hate him. Mainly because I kinda relate to him. We both have problems controlling our emotions, interacting with people, and making friends.
And we both have trouble believing there are people who truly have our best interests at heart and won’t abandon us because we’re a burden.
What I do hate is the way his character was written and the way it negatively impacted the characters around him.
There are definitely a lot of factors that contributed to VLD ending up the way it did. But to me, Keith and the writers insistence on pushing him to the forefront was the poison that killed the show.
Ok, before we get into this whole rant I feel like I should talk about the things I do like about Keith.
I like the premise of Keith’s character. He’s half Galra and never really fit in on Earth. He didn’t act like the other “normal” kids so kids made fun of him and adults didn’t want to deal with him. So in order to protect himself from the pain of rejection he would put up a tough angry facade and push people away and reject them before they could reject him.
This is something that really resonates with me personally having grown up neurodivergent. It’s awful growing up in a world that isn’t made for people like you and not knowing how to interact with or connect with your peers. Especially when you don’t know why you’re like that.
You learn to avoid social interaction because it always ends up negative. You put up walls because you don’t feel like anybody understands you or what you’re going through.
I know the writers probably didn’t intend to code Keith as neurodivergent. They just wanted Keith to be a hothead with abandonment issues, but nonetheless, this interpretation means a lot to me.
I also really like his relationship with Shiro. Keith is so used to being left behind and abandoned that when he meets someone like Shiro who’s patient and genuinely cares it’s new and strange. He’s so ready for Shiro to abandon him, even telling Shiro to send him back to the home, but Shiro refuses to leave him and tells Keith ethat he’s never going to give up on him.
It’s also interesting to see how their relationship develops over time. It’s clear Keith trusts Shiro, but you can tell that that fear of abandonment is still there deep down. In S2, Keith tells Shiro that he’s like a brother to him, and then in season 6, he takes the extra step and tells Shiro that he IS his brother and that he loves him. And for someone like Keith, telling their friend they love them is a big scary thing.
And also it’s just great to see a platonic “I love you,” especially between two guys. Don’t be afraid to tell your bros you love them!!!
Now let’s talk about the stuff I didn’t like.
Keith doesn’t have much going for him in terms of personality. He’s just sorta brooding and serious all the time. He does make jokes occasionally but it’s rare. The writers were more focused on making him cool and badass rather than fun.
I always loved the idea of Keith as a cocky carefree asshole who doesn’t give a shit about rules/laws and is kinda rude/aggressive but has a heart of gold deep down and would do anything for the people he cares about. (Just like a cat.)
I would also make him more alien esc. In terms of design I like the idea of Keith having red eyes with narrow pupils and fangs. And also just small things like the way he walks and holds himself. He growls and bears his teeth when he’s angry, his hair puffs up when scared, he’s fast and agile, disappearing and reappearing without making much noise, small things.
Then you have his race and sexuality. I have no doubt in my mind that Keith was intended to be a straight white dude. A lot of people see him as gay and Asian but there’s no evidence for this in canon. Acxa was originally intended to be his love interest and his race was never mentioned in canon. His name isn’t even Kogane in canon. (And the race of the voice actor doesn’t equal the race of the character. If that was the case Shiro, Hunk, and Lance would be white.)
They should’ve totally made Keith Japanese like he was in the original. It would’ve been so easy! Just canonize Kogane as his last name and have the book say he’s half Japanese half Galra. They could’ve also done what they did with Shiro and keep his og GoLion name. Just have him be Akira Kogane. Definitely cooler than “Keith.”
And as for his sexuality, I definitely think they should’ve had Keith be gay. But well get to that Later...
I also don’t like how they handled the whole Krolia thing. Not only was it crazy rushed, but it completely goes against the shows theme of found family.
Keith’s arc should’ve been about overcoming his abandonment issues and learning to accept the paladins as family. But instead they just get rid of the abandonment issues by just giving him his mom back.
I know a lot of people love Krolia but I don’t feel like she should’ve been introduced in anything other than flashbacks. Because Keith’s mom isn’t really that important. The show is about found family and friendship, not blood relation.
You can definitely have Keith learn about his mom and his family, but I feel like giving him his mom back was too much.
Personally, I always headcanoned that Kolivan was Keith’s grandfather or just a close friend of Krolia’s, and when Keith showed up at the Blade’s base Kolivan recognized the blade as his Krolia’s. Keith could learn about his mom through Kolivan telling him about her, how she was a great person and warrior who died fighting to make the universe a safer place for her son.
Another thing I didn’t like was the whole Keith leaving the team for the Blades thing. I know why he did it, he felt like the team was gonna reject him, he wanted to be more useful, and wanted to learn about his family, but I feel like you could’ve touched on all that without having him abandon his team.
One of the biggest problems with the show is that they did a bad job at establishing the paladins as friends, they feel like coworkers more than anything, and I feel like Keith being absent for two seasons contributed to that.
And his absence is hardly addressed. The team forms Voltron perfectly without him and no one ever says they miss him. Keith doesn’t even seem like he missed them after being gone for two years.
And a lot of the weight was taken out of that Keith v Kuron fight by the fact that Keith and Kuron hardly interacted.
That whole thing amounted to four things, Keith meeting Krolia (which I don’t think should’ve happened), them finding the colony (which was a dumb plot I don’t think should’ve happened), Keith aging up two years (which was weird and unnecessary), and Keith meeting Kosmo (which is... complicated).
I don’t think this plot was necessary. Keith should’ve stayed with his team.
Then you have his relationship with Lance. I know people are very sensitive about this topic. People have very strong opinions about whether or not Keith and Lance were intended to be romantically coded.
Personally, I do like Klance but I don’t believe they were romantically coded. I think if you want them to get together some things would have to go differently.
For example, the bonding moment. In canon, Lance tells Keith, “we make a good team.” I don’t see this as referring to him and Keith. I think he was talking about the whole team. If you want it to be about the two of them, I feel like it should be Lance telling Keith something like, “ya know, you’re not so bad after all,” and then Keith smiles and responds, “you’re not so bad yourself.”
Another example could be the scene where Lance comes to Keith with his insecurities. (Whether it’s as a leader or a friend.) This scene was weird in canon, Lance comes to Keith for advice and Keith basically tells him to just stop thinking about it.
I would prefer if Lance brought up to Keith how he doesn’t feel like he’s good enough or that he doesn’t have, “a thing,” and Keith is completely dumbfounded like, “what are you even talking about?” He goes on about all the good shit about Lance. Talks about how Blue chose him, how he’s a great shot, how he’s good at dealing with people, meanwhile Lance is standing there in shock as Keith says all these nice things about him.
Over all you would just have to develop their relationship more. More meaningful interactions. And if you want the relationship to be romantic you would have to establish that early on. Establish that one or both has romantic feelings for the other in like S1/S2 because if you wait too long it’s gonna feel forced/out of no where.
And then... you have the Black Paladin arc... I’m gonna be real with y’all, this is the arc that killed the show for me, for a few reasons.
One, even ignoring the whole quintessence bond thing, it makes no sense for Keith to be the bp. He doesn’t fit the role. I adore Shiro but choosing Keith as his successor was a dumb move. I get that he saw potential in Keith but they’re are fighting a war, there’s no room for favoritism.
Shiro should’ve chosen Allura as his successor. Not only does she have actual leadership experience, but you would only have one paladin in a new Lion instead of three.
If a lifeguard breaks his leg and can’t work, he should choose an experienced swimmers to take his place, not his little bro that’s still in water wings in the hopes that it’ll teach him to swim.
Two, Keith being the bp doesn’t help his arc. Keith’s arc is about overcoming his abandonment issues and learning to be a team player, he doesn’t need to be the leader for that.
VLD should’ve been about the paladins growing into the best versions of themselves they could be. Their development shown by unlocking new abilities in their respective lions, new forms for their bayards, and new Voltron bayard power ups. They shouldn’t have to change lions and themselves.
Keith and Red have a strong bond and work great together. Keith and Red are both temperamental, unpredictable, and have issues with trust. Keith having to fight to get Red to trust and open up to him mirrors how others have to fight to earn Keith’s trust and get him to let down his walls.
It would’ve been interesting to see them grow together. Keith has no emotional connection with Black.
We never even get to see them bond. Keith just suddenly becomes the “perfect” bp/leader because he got over his mommy issues
Three, it’s a MASSIVE disservice to Shiro’s character. Shiro put all the work in earning his position as the bp, he literally fits fought Zarkon on the astral plane to earn her trust, yet Keith is the true bp? What?
It sucks. Sendak told Shiro that a monster like him could never be a paladin and the writers went and proved him right. Hell Shiro didn’t even get to kill Sendak, Keith got that too.
And don’t tell me, “but he got the Atlas!” REALLY!? A massive Deus ex machina that required absolutely no effort from him to acquire!? Filled with a bunch of rando background characters no one gives a shit about!? You’re totally right, that 100% makes up for it.
I could go on and on about how the treatment of Shiro in this show (and fandom) is blatantly ableist but that’s a rant for another time.
It sucks. I want to like Keith! He had the potential to be an amazing character but the writers just kept on trying to turn him into something he wasn’t and it ruined him for me.
They kept trying to turn Keith into the main character and ignored that ALL the paladins are the main characters. It’s an ensemble cast! You don’t have to have everything come back to one guy.

The Lion's lore is just a mess. "It's the lions who choose the paladins" but did they really? Only Blue had a real choice (krolia? texas? keith, pidge, hunk, shiro were also there) while the rest of them went along with whoever found them first. And then the whole lion of destiny gets retconned in 20 episodes anyway, when black just lets keith fly him and then again with kuron just having to ask. Not to mention Alfor picked Red and not the other way around.
I read a comic once where I believe it was Lance and Keith just chilling and Lance asks something like "Hey, do you think Allura chose our lions based on the color of our shirts?" And I think Keith has one of those "What are you – oh shit, I think you're right" responses. I feel like the lion's lore suffered a similar fate as the scene when they're all in Keith's cabin. Apparently there was a big explanation as to how he discovered all the blue lion stuff he had on his murder board wall, but it didn't have a great reception with a test audience so the showrunners decided to just have him say "I was drawn to this place" (or whatever the actual line was. And honestly? That's another thing that makes the lions lore confusing, because why would Keith – the paladin "destined" for Red be drawn to the Blue lion? Wouldn't it have made more sense for Lance to go wandering off into the desert like he was sleepwalking, and that's how they all ended up converging? In my opinion, the minute it was revealed that Alfor built the lions, any lore went out the window for me. Because in the beginning they were treated as these wondrous, ancient, sentient beings – the stuff of myths and legends – and then it turns out they were just…built by Allura's dad? I mean at that point – and based on what the original paladins were wearing – I think the lions were just drawn to people wearing their color. -_- I've read so many fics where the lions' sentience is conveyed, as well as their deep connection to each paladin, and I wish that had been canon. But this, like many other aspects of the show, seem to be whatever they needed it to be, depending on the scene. One of the biggest flaws in many stories that contain magic of any kind is that it's used as the deus ex machina: Magic can do whatever you need it to do whenever you need it. And that makes it purely a plot device as opposed to an actual system with its own rules and disadvantages. They needed the lions to act on their own? OK cool. Have the lions inexplicably forget they can do exactly that. Yeah, that works better for this scene here. Have Black – who once took Shiro on an entire astral plane journey where he fought to gain Black's acceptance – not know that Shiro was a clone being controlled by Haggar??? You have to pick one thing and stick to it. And then when you run into obstacles, you have to find other ways around them – not just come up with new rules that fit the current situation.

Voltron: if the paladins had a Pokémon team 😋
If you like this, leave a comment and/or send feedback.
I imagined that shiro would have a dark and flying type Pokémon team.
Mainly because his lion has wings and specialize in air. The dark typing I thought would add an interesting mix to it... what?....... ok yeah, so it’s also to do with the dark theme the black lion has... don’t look at me like that! >_>
The Zoroark I put in not only cause of the dark typing but because Zoroark is “the master of illusions” a Pokémon that transforms into people and Pokémon to trick others. I imagine people could make all kinds of kuron references and jokes here XD
I also imagine Zoroark would have itself some jolly good fun messing with the other paladins by pretending to be shiro. Only eventually getting found out when either the real shiro showed up or that tail became visible XD
Keith’s team is of course fire type, cause of his lion’s element. And I picked the fire types that would match his personality best. Fire types (like the red lion and ironically like Keith XD ) are known to be temperamental.
And yes, I put two dog Pokémon in cause Keith has a wolf for a pet. He’s gonna have a fun time with those two XD
I have also heard that Keith’s favorite animal is a hippo? So of course I threw those in there too just for that.
Lance’s team I made to fit his personality as well. (Actually, I did that for all of them) all of lance’s Pokémon reflect his interests as well as his lion’s Affinity for water and ice. Yes, I know, I threw a mermaid/selkie in there. Of course I did, it’s been made clear that lance loves mermaids so yeah, I put that one in. He also likes to boast that he’s a ninja sharpshooter, so I put in greninja.
I imagine his Pokémon might end up spending more time keeping lance out of trouble then anything. Greninja would probably be dragging him away every time he started flirting with a girl.
Vaporeon would probably hose him down for shiro XD
Lance “ I thought you guys were supposed to be on my side?! DX”
Hunk’s team is all ground or rock types. Cause his lion’s element is earth. hunk is a sweetheart and a teddybear, so I picked Pokémon that would reflect his kind lovable big guy personality. I considered putting an onix in his team, but it was mentioned to me that he would like cute adorable Pokémon better. And I gotta agree, hunk doesn’t seem like a snake person.
I made cubone part of his team cause come on, as a lonely Pokémon, your days of feeling sad and lonely are over when your around hunk 😊
And despite wearing its mother’s skull on its head, I know hunk would love having this cute little guy around. Maybe even be a handy little helper around the kitchen. He could make mashed potatoes using its bone XD
Half of Pidge’s team is plant type (because her lion’s element is forest.) but I put some different types into the mix because of pidge’s own interests in tech. I put the elekid in cause hay, with all the time pidge spends on her laptop, it’s gonna run out of power eventually. Would make sense to have a “backup power generator” right? XD
And the kecleon is do to pidge’s genius in adding cloaking tech to her lion. An invisible accomplice would be handy in getting into all kinds of techy mischief XD
And the Porygon-Z, it was made from science so why not? It might help her with hacking (shrugs)
Allura’s team... ok don’t judge me! I can’t help it if mice are her thing! >_< though it’s funny how most mice Pokémon happen to be electric types. I did add a Sylveon cause it seemed to match her personality...ok so it’s pretty! It’s a cute Pokémon that is pink ok?!
The only animals I’ve seen allura interact with the most are the mice so it’ s only natural that she’d work great with mice Pokémon. And if lance annoys her with any of his flirting, she can just have pikachu use thundershock on him X3
Allura “thank you little friend ^_^”
Pikachu “pika! ^_^”
Lance “X_X” KO’d ( Keith nudges a twitching unconscious lance with his foot)

Me. Him. You. No. Prt 2
What if Keith and Lance had been dating and after talking about it, they decided that maybe they’d like to try dating Shiro too? Lance is of course not sure, but Keith… he’d do anything for Keith and two alphas couldn’t be too bad… especially not when one of them had been his hero. Suuuuuper Toxic relationship turned better when Lance realises some truths. Set when we have Kuron… I’m a simp for Kuron belittling Lance because he knows Lance is the heart of the team, but when it’s like super subliminal seeing Shiro doesn’t know he’s a clone. No thanks canon, you’re nastier than Zarkon’s cockring.

With his boyfriend and best friend off with his favourite gremlin, Lance took the liberty of stealing the shirt Keith had been wearing before changing into his under armour suit. Swapping it for his own, before sliding his shirt onto Keith’s pillow. He really loved Keith’s scent. The smell of rain on dirt that instantly reminding him of all the good times back on the family farm. Fitting it over his own body suit, the omega sighed to himself. Would Shiro be good for them? And was he overthinking how slow they should take things so he and Shiro got to know each other better? Then again, he’d just told Keith to get his head in the game, so he’d probably should take his own advice.
Heading up to the bridge, Pidge was already coming through the comms, lecturing Keith and Hunk not to touch anything or damage Green lest she make them into dickless wonders. He loved her fierceness… and loved riling her up just as much. He’d also secretly been working out coding on the sly, just so he could help Pidge when she was stressing too much.
Coming up behind Allura, Lance wrapped his arms around her. He’d felt for so long that she was some kind of goddess personified, so hadn’t really hugged her. Only to find Allura seemed to feel left out when she saw them all hugging each other and not her. Especially on team nights where they’d all pull out their blankets and crash in the bigger lounge room
“Hey, I know you miss Lotor, but you’ve got all of us. If you need to talk, or even if you just want to, you know my door is always open to you”
Giggling at him, Allura slapped his hands playfully
“Keith’s not even left the castle”
“I know. But I didn’t know Lotor was away, and that’s my bad for not checking in. So sometimes my door might be shut, but I always have time for you”
Yeah… if anyone tried the door and found it locked, they all knew not to knock unless it was important
“Thank you, Lance. He only informed me last night, so we didn’t have the chance to talk about it”
Lotor seemed to have a lot to do when it was most convenient for him and a whole not to do when it was least convenient for them. The purple haired godly looking prince still rubbed him the wrong way in every way possible
“Well, I’m still here for you. You’re amazing and you’re totally kick arse, don’t go forgetting that”
“I shan’t. Now, perhaps you should take a seat? I don’t want to be in trouble with Keith”
“I promise you he totally gets it. He gets jealous, but never over how much I care about you guys. Anyway, let’s do our best to make sure they don’t need us?”
“I’m sure they won’t”
Taking his usual seat at his console, Lance accidentally got himself caught as he cast a glance towards Shiro. Keith had said he’d seen Shiro looking at him, and maybe this time he kind of felt like his alpha had been right. Shiro was definitely looking at him, only Lance couldn’t figure out what that look was about. Did he smell horny? Because Keith hadn’t smelt horny before he’d left… He knew alphas had keen noses as a genetic trait to help protect their mates and ensure “breeding” at the optimal time… but he wasn’t preheat and he and Keith had both showered off the smell of their shower sex straight after it’d happened. Or was it because he’d hugged Allura? He was a hugger.
“Shirooooo do you need a hug too?”
Raising his eyebrow at him, Lance still didn’t know what Shiro was thinking. With Keith he’d gotten pretty good at guessing. Would he get as good with Shiro?
“No, I was thinking that you stole one of Keith’s shirts again, didn’t you?”
That wasn’t exactly abnormal. They’d both been known to put on each other’s clothes when summoned to the bridge in the middle of the night, too tired to give a quiznak about anything other than being covered
“Yep. My wardrobe doubled when we started dating. I’ve even seen him wearing my jacket and all’s fair in love and war. Having an alpha definitely has its perks. Besides, have you seen Keith shirtless? I have seen world class art that’s made people weep and far less appealing. My man’s got it going on”
Throwing the compliment in just to plant the idea in Shiro’s head for his conversation with Keith later, Pidge’s cranky voice came through the comms
“Guys we can hear you! Lance, you’ve broken Keith. I think he’s blushing or malfunctioning. You’d think he’d never heard you praising him before”
Sniping back, Keith did a poor job of downplaying her accusation
“Shut it, Pidge. It’s because you have the heating turned up”
“Whatever, loser. Allura, wormhole please. I’m activating Green’s cloaking now. And Lance, no more flirting until Keith is back with you. We all know how much you two dweebs love each other”
Totally “misinterpreting” Pidge’s words on purpose, Lance bit down teasing Keith in favour of teasing her
“Pidge, you know I love you too. You are our coolest little gremlin and a total bad arse beta”
“I know. Now behave yourself”
“I will. Anyway, Shiro, are you totally sure you don’t need a hug?”
Pinching the bridge of his nose, Shiro shook his head
“No. I’m perfectly fine over here. Can we please focus now?”
“Yes, Space Dad”
It was on the tip of Lance’s lips to call Shiro “Space Daddy”, but he didn’t have that kink nor did he want Keith thinking that he did.
Lance couldn’t help being slightly hyperactive when Keith was out there, being loud helped him self soothe and stopped his mind from going to the worst. He knew Keith could mostly handle himself, but he also had a way of disregarding his own importance when on a mission. His anxieties always doubled when it came to watching his team leave the castle far behind, knowing back up would be delayed. He itched to be in Green with his mate. To know what was happening as they saw it, and there in the thick of it if they needed him. Or if he needed to punch Keith for getting hurt.
It felt longer than the few ticks it took for Pidge’s voice to draw his attention back to the screen
“Uh, guys… I think we’re going to need that back up. What do you want to do?”
Lance’s eyes widened as he registered the three cruisers in orbit around the moon. Nope. No way. If they were going in then they were going in as a team
“Allura, send Pidge coordinates. Pidge, drop back… right back. We’ll rendezvous with you guys. Don’t even think about picking a fight until we’re all in our own lions”
Pidge snorted hard, he could picture her rolling her eyes
“Lance, you do know Keith and Shiro are the ones calling the shots”
“And I’m the one who’s looking at this and going no quiznakking way am I letting my family get hurt. We’ll fall back, cloak the castle and see if we can pick up any chatter. Keith, get onto Kolivan. Ask him if the Blades have any intel. Pidge, I know this came from Matt, and we will follow this up, but not at the risk of your lives. Don’t even think about doing a fly by or I’m going to destroy your lab before you get back”
Lance could imagine Pidge craning her head back to look at Keith, her question really not directed at him even if it was about him
“Keith, is Lance pre-heat again? He gets cranky when he’s pre-heat”
“Nah, he’s right. We can’t afford to lose Green and if those cruisers have tractor beams than we’re screwed. Allura, send those coordinates”
Ooooh. Lance noticed that Keith said nothing about not being able to afford losing three Paladins and Lance was going to let him know exactly what he thought about it when his boyfriend climbed into their bed that night and he be taking his shirt back from Keith’s pillow.
Calmly, Allura nodded as she looked across to where Coran already tapping away… and for some reason Lance could definitely feel Shiro looking at him in almost an uncomfortable way. There was no way he was responsible for what came out of his mouth when their team was in danger. Now he was starting to get paranoid that somehow Shiro knew what Keith had said in the shower. Pretending to focus his gaze on Allura as she spoke, Lance looked past her to where Shiro was frowning heavily… Maybe he’d been a bit premature? Or maybe Shiro was just mad that security was tighter than predicted? That made more sense. It wasn’t like Shiro could actually read his mind
“Coran’s calculating them just now, right, sending. We’ll be there shortly”
*
One wormhole, one return, one call, and one cloaking later, they were all in the bridge again. Lance continuing to watch Shiro discretely, and trying to keep his head in the game. The images from Green paused on the screen as Keith and Shiro discussed the cruiser issue. Rolling his chair over to Hunk, his friend was the only one not busy as Allura, Coran, and Pidge talked frequencies as Pidge did her thing. Resting his head against Hunk’s shoulder, Hunk sighed at him, whispering despite the fact no one seemed to be paying attention their way
“Lance, what are you doing?”
“I don’t think Shiro likes me as much I thought”
“And we’re going to talk about this now?”
“I know. But my heart. Think of my heart”
“I’d rather be thinking about lunch”
“But I think I’ve upset Shiro”
“What did you do this time?”
“I don’t know. First he seemed kind mad I had Keith’s shirt on, then he didn’t want a hug, and then he was staring at me hard enough I wanted to slide under my console when I said you guys you should pull back. Was I too bossy?”
Even a saint like Hunk had a limit, sighing again at him
“Are you sure you’re not overthinking this?”
“No. But how’s Keith supposed to ask him to join us if Shiro’s mad at me?”
“And you’re really not pre-heat?”
He wasn’t so dumb that he didn’t keep it clearly on record so no one could dispute it when it came around. Keith’s and Shiro’s ruts were also in there, once again so everyone knew when it was coming and they could work around it
“Not according to my calendar. Since we got out here my cycle’s been moving to line up more with Keith’s and I’m not due for like two more movements. I think I’m having a panic”
“Dude, you’re definitely doing a panic. Maybe Shiro got caught in his own trauma? Seeing there was three cruisers and we were lucky that Pidge’s cloaking works?”
“I wondered about that too. I don’t want him to feel like obligated to say yes to us, and I don’t want Keith to be hurt if Shiro snaps no at him because of his mood. Can we just pretend my brain is on holiday, and treat me like a baby?”
“Keith’s on nappy duty then. Maybe you should talk to Keith?”
That would mean interrupting Keith and Shiro, and being a clingy nagging boyfriend, which he didn’t deny he was, he just didn’t want to make a scene. No. He didn’t want to say something to upset Keith
“Not until we figure out what to do next. It’d be a different thing if we knew for sure we could block all transmissions and take out their engines before we went in. If they get a message out, things could get nasty. Maybe we should just skip this one?”
Hunk ruffled his hair
“And maybe you should stop overthinking?”
Lance’s stomach gave a rumble. He didn’t feel hungry after how many of Hunk’s pancakes he’d eaten… His best friend laughing
“Dude, you’re a bottomless pit”
Groaning, Hunk had no idea how hard it was to be an omega. Yes, he was fine with blaming it on that when something embarrassing happened, after all there was no evidence to say it wasn’t his omega’s fault
“It’s not my fault, I blame the omega. Fine. Fine. I’ve been staring at Shiro all morning so I’ll take myself for a walk and go get some goo. I’m leaving you in charge”
“I do believe Shiro and Keith are”
“And you’ve got more sense than the both of them when they’re getting this worked up. Cover me, I’m rolling out”
Hunk caught his chair before Lance could roll away
“Leave the chair, Bud. Just leave the chair”
He hadn’t planned on rolling all the way to the kitchen, but now he half wanted to. Making a show of standing up, he bowed to Hunk, his best friend only able to shake his head at him.
*
In no rush to get back, Lance settled himself on the kitchen bench as he ate his goo. He neeeeeeded to stop staring at Shiro. This was all Keith’s fault for putting ideas in his head
“Babe, what are you doing?”
Fumbling his bowl and spoon, Lance was nearly the poor victim of a sudden goocident. He’d left Keith talking to Shiro, and now he’d come after him. Spinning around the bench, his alpha was already walking over to him
“Feeding my face. I thought I left you with Shiro”
“I saw you leave… What’s going on?”
Sighing dramatically, Lance set his bowl of goo next to him, before holding his arms open for Keith. His alpha snorting as he let Lance cling like the human shaped octopus he was
“I keep staring at Shiro. Like, I can’t help it. I can’t stop thinking about this”
“Babe, if you don’t think this could work…”
Burying his face in Keith’s hair, his alpha’s scent was what he’d needed
“I don’t know. I feel like somehow I’ve annoyed him. I mean, I know I’m panicking and nervous, so I’m probably being paranoid. And for some reason my stomach decided I was hungry so I bailed to get some space. Do you think I said too much? About Green? I just didn’t think it was safe with you guys out there in one lion to back you up with Red and Blue when we don’t know what the cruisers are packing. What did Kolivan say?”
Tilting his head, Keith rubbed his cheek against Lance’s
“He said they had no intel on the moon or the operation. And seeing they didn’t, he couldn’t offer any advice. You beat me too. I saw the cruisers and was still debating, but you were right. You just got there first. We need to stop them, but not the risk of our lives. Babe, if you’re really not okay with Shiro…”
“No. No. It’s not that. I’m just… nervous. I love what we have and I’m a little scared about sharing that, but that’s because I’m not as close to Shiro as you are. I want to take it slow and work on getting to know him that way too”
“I love what we have too. Wait a tick…”
Going from nuzzling into him, to leaning back and forcing his hand against Lance’s forehead, Keith frowned at him
“Babe, are you sick? You feel warm”
“Don’t you mean I feel hot?”
“No, I’m not joking. You feel warm. You’re not due for two more movements…”
Keith could worry with the best of them. His alpha would never focus on the mission properly if he thought Lance was sick, which he didn’t feel.
Bring his hand up, Lance patted Keith on the head
“And Coran made us all have our monthly physical last week. I was fine then. Not pregnant. Not sick. No weird space sex diseases. I don’t feel sick. Just hungry apparently and tired from this morning. Maybe it’s because I’ve been looking at your handsome face?”
“I want you to keep an eye on it. I don’t want you pushing yourself if you’re coming down with something”
“The only thing coming down is my nerves. Do you think I should apologise to Shiro?”
Keith let his hand drop, still not looking satisfied
“No. You didn’t say anything wrong. He seemed fine when I talked to him, a bit annoyed that the Galra didn’t make things easy, but when do they?”
Fluttering his eyelashes, Lance looped his legs loosely around Keith’s, knowing exactly what Keith wanted to hear
“Well, I know a certain half-Galra that makes loving him easy. Anyway, we both know how hot I am. I’ll keep an eye on things and if it gets worse you’ll be the first to know. I promise I don’t feel sick”
“Okay. I still don’t want you pushing it. Are you up for coming back to the bridge? I want you there for the discussion on what to do”
“You say all the right things, Mister Alpha of mine, but you also know Allura told us no more food on the bridge after that incident with the mice leaving crumbs on Pidge’s console”
“Allura can fight me”
Lance cackled at the mental image of Keith and Allura playing slapsies. He knew Allura would let him bring the goo with him, he just wasn’t ready to see Shiro yet. After all, Pidge had only lost her shit at them all until she found out the cookie that caused the incident had fallen out of her pocket and the mice were never ones to say no to Hunk’s baking. Allura had laughed it all off once Platt had explained, the warning not so much as a warning as her teasing Pidge
“My big strong alpha. Let me finish my goo and then I’ll come right up”
“You promise?”
“Yes, Keith. I’ll finish my goo, wash the bowl, put it away so Hunk doesn’t get cranky, then you and Shiro can tell us all what we’re planning on doing about those cruisers and that moon. I’m sure their presence there means that they’ve got foot soldiers on the ground… which means there has to be something specific there… and I really wanna go see but maybe we don’t risk dying until Pidge pulls another Pidgerical?”
Keith kissed him on the forehead as Lance let his legs drop
“Shiro think so too. Okay. I’ll go back. Don’t be long”
“I’m going to take as long as it takes. Try not to have sex with Shiro without me. And no kissing… and no petting…”
Keith snorted at him, before kissing him to shut him up. Lance had been joking, but really really not really
“Babe, we’re all going to move at the same pace”
“I know. Now goooo”
“I’m going”
*
Keith was screwed. He was definitely screwed. Watching Shiro’s lips, the words weren’t sinking in. He was almost angry that the cruisers had dared to be at the moon when he’d mentally planned out how he’d work up to finding a moment alone with Shiro. Now he was thinking about those lips and not so innocently thinking about them wrapped around Lance’s dick.
“Keith? Are you okay? You look a little red”
Realising everyone was staring at him, Keith nodded quickly. With the way Shiro was staring at him it was little wonder that Lance needed a time out
“Sorry, I was busy thinking about those cruisers”
“That’s well and good, but we’re discussing the moon’s composition now”
Lance snorted at him, Keith discretely flipping him off. His boyfriend wasn’t the only one allowed to be nervous, but he was the only one that actually knew why he was being spacey
“Sorry. Go on”
Shiro cast him a semi-annoyed look, telling him that he really needed to be paying attention and not to what kept him so distracted
“As I was saying, we’ll use the castle’s long range scanners to pick up composite readings. Pidge’s already scanning for chatter but we haven’t locked onto their network yet. We’ll keep monitoring for the next 12 vargas, or until we have sufficient data to piece together what they’re doing”
12 vargas. If he waited 12 vargas for that talk with Shiro, he wasn’t sure he wouldn’t implode with his own nerves. Not that Keith thought Shiro would say no. He’d be crazy not to see how amazing Lance was, and he was sure things would work. He wouldn’t have said anything if he hadn’t. Nope. If he didn’t do it now, then…
“Actually Shiro, can I have a word outside real quick”
“And it has to be right now?”
“Yeah, sorry. We’ll be right back guys. Hunk, keep an eye on Lance, he felt feverish”
Lance looked a deer caught in headlights as everyone looked to him instead of questioning why Keith suddenly needed to talk to Shiro
“Babe, I’m not sick!”
Hunk jumping straight to mother hen mode and questioning Lance as Keith walked over, grabbed Shiro by the wrist and pulled him out the bridge.
Following him out, Shiro snorted as he shook his head. Keith with his back to him as he let go of the fellow alphas hand
“Should I even ask?”
Turning around, Keith could only describe what came out as word vomit
“Lance and I like you and want to know if you’d be interested in dating us”
It wasn’t his smoothest moment. Nor did he blame Shiro for standing there. He’d loved him like a brother, but now they were older… He wasn’t the same scared kid and he’d really started noticing that Shiro was kind of handsome. When Shiro didn’t reply, his brain farted, spilling more words out
“You don’t have to say yes. I mean, it’s probably really odd and it’s not because you’re the only other alpha here. And I talked to Lance. We’ve both noticed the way you look at us… and I was going to ask you after the mission but now we’re waiting and I’m not sure I could have waited and…”
Shiro sighed heavily, taking him by the shoulders as he did
“Keith, breathe. Slow down, and breathe. You and Lance want to date me?”
“Yeah”
“And you’ve talked about this?”
“Yeah”
“And what did Lance say?”
“We both want to take it slow. See if there is maybe something there. It’s not going to change anything if you say no. And you don’t have to say anything right now”
Hanging his head, both Keith and his alpha felt a little pathetic that he’d blurted everything out the seemed to fumble his way through with Shiro’s prompting
“Don’t get me wrong here, but I thought you were crazy for Lance?”
“I am. Going from friends to boyfriends felt amazing. It still feels amazing. But we’re not blind. You seemed interested in us, and we’re interested too”
“Have you thought about how this would even work?”
“We have and we want to talk to you. Lance was really nervous so I told him I’d talk to you first”
“And you’re both okay sharing each other?”
“If it’s with you. If that’s okay with you. It might go somewhere and it might not, but we both feel it. Both of us are so scattered today because we can’t stop thinking about you”
Shiro let his hands drop off Keith’s shoulders as he let out a long breath
“I’m older than both of you”
“We’re well aware”
“And my preference is alphas”
“That’s why you’d be dating both of us. I’m not trying to force this on you. I’m really not. I know what Adam meant to you. All of this is why we want to sit down with you and talk about it and why we’re not expecting a reply straight away. Lance’s heat’s in two movements, and I’ll be spending it with him now our cycles are nearly completely in synch. Not that I wouldn’t be spending it with him anyway, he’s really bad at taking care of himself when he’s in heat. He’s dominant so he’s full on, but he’s also really soft and cries really easy from the pain”
“Are you sure you’re not trying to find a substitute for when you’re with the Blades? Someone to be by his side?”
Keith hated leaving Lance each time, but his boyfriend knew he was loyal to him. That no matter how far away he went, that he’d do everything and almost anything it meant to come home to him. Lance had the whole team there for him, and he’d made it crystal clear that he wanted Keith to know more about his bloodline and himself
“No. We talked about that too. He says he doesn’t feel starved of affection or that he can’t go to the team when I’m not here. I think it’ll be good for us. That you’ll be good for us. I really love him Shiro, and when I noticed I was noticing you more than as what we were I felt awful. But Lance listened and told me it was okay to want to see if this will work between the three of us because he’d been noticing you too. That we’ll work it out as a team. We’re not rushing to bring you to bed with us, or anything physical. And he would have said no if he was against it”
“I need to think about this”
“I know. I mean, we both know. I love what we have. I love him… but I can’t hide that I have feelings for you too”
“Alright. I get it. And I promise I will think about it. For now we need to deal with this mission”
“Yeah… Yeah. I’m sorry for spacing out”
“It’s fine and it explains why Lance kept looking at me”
“He’s an amazing omega. He’s got some great ideas too. I think it’ll be awesome if we could all bounce them off each other”
“Let’s not use the word bounce for now”

What if Haggar had no control over Kuron (Kuro)?
This one question started many other questions like What if Shiro didn’t Die? What if Lotor passed the White Lion Test? What if Lotor’s Colony of Altean’s didn’t exist? How all these things could happen in (mostly) the same universe?
First Lets Start with “what if Haggar had no control over Kuron?”
Kuron’s escape was an accident, also Kuron wouldn’t have any memories past his time as a gladiator.
(Cause sorry the fact that his memories were up to date made no sense to me. Because going by the show’s canon Shiro was gone, he died there was nothing left of him. Then given this as fact, how would they have gotten all of Shiro’s memories?
Haggar had shown no ability to see through or control the original Shiro, so there would be no way to have Kuron’s memories or the other clones memories up to date after original Shiro’s escape.)
Kuron would have no idea he was part of Voltron, have no memory of piloting the black lion.
During his escape, he still runs into Varkala and Remdax, whom Kuron has to convince that he is not a spy, that he’s just escaped from one of their labs. Once Kuron helps the two not so coordinative rebels against a Galra attack there wholeheartedly trust Kuron, though they keep saying they’re going to keep an eye on him.
Eventually, Varkala and Remdax catch an old broadcast from the Olkari looking for a male human. The two are like ‘hey we got one of those’ and they have to convince Shiro that it’s okay to contact the Okari about him and tell Shiro about Voltron. Explain how Voltron is fighting the oppression of the Galra, and how Voltron’s a force for good. They explain that most of the Voltron lions are piloted by humans. (and make a side note that it used to be piloted by all humans but something happened to one of them, though neither could remember what happened.)
Vakala gets in contact with the Olkari saying they have a human male on at their station, but their connection is so static and weak that the only thing the Olkari can confirm is that their’s a human male with them, and relay that information to the Voltron crew.
Pidge is the one to go investigate thinking it might be Matt, and to her shock she finds Shiro. Kuron introducing himself to the green paladin as if they have never met before. This confuses Pidge a great deal.
“Shiro don’t you recognize me?” Pidge asks taking off her helmet and Shiro nearly has a panic attack thinking she was Matt for a moment before he realizes the height and her voice is completely wrong.
“Katie?” Shiro says shocked, and they both tightly hug each other, both almost crying as Kuron starts apologizing for not being able to protect her brother and Father. As she assures him it’s alright that she knows.
Vakala asks Remdax if he thinks that little person was Shiro’s family or if all humans greet each other this way? Remdax can only shrug as they watch the emotional reunion.
Kuron than starts asking her a bunch of questions about how she became a paladin and how in the world do metal Lions fly. Pidge’s blood goes cold realizing Shiro has no memories of being a paladin or finding the blue lion on earth and is only calling her Katie never Pidge.
And when she tries telling Shiro that he used to be Voltron’s leader and the pilot of the black lion he doesn’t believe her.
Pidge gets in contact with Keith telling him she found Shiro but that he’s missing some of his memories and that she’s headed back with Shiro to the ship. Keith is so relieved and concerned about hearing the news about Shiro. Keith relays this information to the other paladins, Allura suggesting that the healing pods could help resort his memories as they did help restore some of his memories last time.
When Pidge and Kuron get back to the castle of lions, Shiro and Keith have a touching reunion. Kuron telling Keith that he always knew Keith was destined for greatness, then have a somewhat awkward reunion with Hunk, Lance, Allura and Coran. (one involving the confusion over who has what loin based on their colours) Shiro recognizes Hunk and Lance as Garrison cadets but not much else.
When Pidge tries to guild Kuron to the healing pods, he freakouts thinking they’re the same pods that the Galra had him trapped in. This surprised the group, Keith and Pidge manage to calm Kuron down assuring him he doesn’t have to go in it, they try asking him about what he remembered from being in the Galra pod and he does his best to tell them all he remembers though it’s not a lot.
Hunk and Allura use more traditional medical supplies to fix some of Shiro’s injuries. Lance offering to give Shiro a haircut, and Kuron agrees. Of course, Lance talks as he’s cutting Kuron’s hair, saying he gets why going into an alien pod is pretty freaking, but Lance explains why he’s pretty grateful for them as he probably wouldn’t have survived an explosion without them. This catches Kuron’s attention, as he starts viewing Lance more like a real soldier than a cadet and they talk about Lance’s experience in the pod and Kuron feels a little more comfortable about the pobs but admits he’s still not ready to go in one. Lance is very understanding and tells Kuron it’s okay for him to take his time.
While Kuron rests, the team starts talking and making theories as to what could have happened and how he lost his memory. (you know to begin the mystory of if this is really their Shiro or not.)
Since Kuron isn’t being controlled by Haggar and has no memory of being a paladin or piloting the black lion he’s not particularly bothered that the Black lion doesn’t respond to him. (The Black lion even goes as far and putting up its shield when Kuron approaches.) So there’s no tension between Keith and Shiro over that, though that doesn’t stop Kuron from getting easily irritated by Coran or argue with Allura and the others. Lance usually the one to step in between Allura and Shiro to settle them down and find a middle ground, cause Keith keeps falling into the habit of fallowing Shiro that it feels like Keith forgets he’s now the leader. Lance feels like Allura and Shiro can’t find compromises and is now the one doing his best to build a bridge between the two of them as now theirs a constant rift between the black paladin and the Princess.
Part 2: What if Shiro didn’t Die?
Keith is continually surprised by how Shiro’s reacting and even when Keith tries talking to Shiro about it the black paladin is unusually aggressive. Pidge ever the suspicious one asks to do a check-up on his cybernetic arm and Kuron wholeheartedly agrees, still calling Pidge, Katie more often than not. Pidge discovering that even though Kuron’s arm appears the same as Shiro’s old one it’s actually a new one made to look like Shiro’s old one.
Pidge takes Keith to the side and shows him this evidence, Keith says the galra could have just outfitted him with a new one to put him back in the gladiator rings or something like that. Pidge counters that logic; if the galra were going to do that they would have upgraded his arm not replaced it with a near replica. She also points out Shiro’s different behaviour and how the Black Lion treated this Shiro as if he was a complete stranger or as if an enemy was trying to pilot him. As if this Shiro wasn’t their Shiro.
Keith at first doesn’t want to believe Pidge, he desperately wants to believe that this is their Shiro, but as the team spends more time around this Shiro the more different he feels to Keith. Eventually, he comes back to Pidge and admits that this might not be their Shiro and if that’s the case they needed to find the real Shiro. Pidge glad he’s finally on the same page as her and shows all that she has found so far.
That point forward Keith and Pidge team up to find the real Shiro, under the guise that Keith is helping her to find Matt. Since her persistence is what leads them to find ‘Shiro’, Keith says it’s the least he can do. This in turn causes Lance to spend more time around Kuron since the other two people Kuron feels most comfortable with are constantly busy.
This eventually leads to Kuron falling for Lance and kissing the blue paladin. Lance goes through all the stages of Bisexual denial, before finally admitting to himself after a long talk with Hunk that yeah Lance likes Shiro and that he wanted to try and build a relationship with Shiro.
(Adds montage of fluffy Shlance or Kuance moments along with snippets of fluffy Kidge moments between hunting for the real Shiro.)
It takes some time but team wildfire eventually finds hints about a human male working with a vigilant team along the far outskirts of the known universe. To Keith’s and Pidge’s relief and surprise, they find both Shiro and Matt.
Apparently, the black lion teleported him to Matt when the male holt sibling was in desperate trouble. (flashback episode that also explains why Shiro’s hair is now completely white now maybe for the simple reason that the two-tone hair was driving Matt nuts. Matt thinking all silver hair looked better on Shiro then trying to turn it all black. Along with some other cute Shatt moments)
When Pidge and Keith come back with the real Shiro and Matt, Kuron of course has an identity crisis stating ‘he’s the real Shiro he had to be’. But to prove to the others who the real Shiro was Keith and Pidge have their Shiro go into the Black Lion, and the real Shiro is able to pilot the black lion with no resistance from said lion.
Kuron feels confused and betrayed the two people he remembered the most ( Memories of Katie and Keith were nothing but fakes.) But like always Lance is there assuring him what they have wasn’t fake that their relationship only started with him, not the other Shiro. Kuron finding comfort in knowing what he and Lance have is real and tightly holds onto Lance.
Lance chooses to step down as the pilot of the red lion, saying Kuron really needed him right now and knows Keith can handle red no problem. Lance comes up with Kuron’s new name to be Kuro.
Then the episode where the team almost gets destroyed by Haggar, Kuron’s the one that almost sacrifices himself before Lotor steps in to save everyone. There’s also hints of Lotor and Lance bonding since Lance is the only paladin not going on missions he’s the one that often tends to the locked up Lotor and gives him something to do besides being board all the time. Which also causes some jealousy from Kuro and Lance needing to reassure his boyfriend that he’s being nice to Lotor because he was the one to save Kuro’s life and that his greatest interest towards Lotor is figuring out what he uses for his hair to be so silky and shiny.
They defeat Zarkon in a very similar way to the show, (expect that Keith is also there this time around) though Pidge never fully trust Lotor since he kept information about her Dad a secret. Later on Keith is given a speical mission from the Blades that involves his mom but this time Pidge is there as well. Krolia silently impressed with how good of a hacker her son’s compion is, and approves of how close the two seem to be.
Part 3 What if Lotor passed the White Lion Test?
Lotor finds his own way of passing the final Oriande test against the White Lion. Doing it differently than Allura had but still passes. This leads to Lotor and Allura developing the White lion, by far the largest of all the lions.
The White Lion is so big that it splits into two smaller lions for movability and can fuse back together for massive attacks. Needing pilots that can completely trust eachother and work together, Lance and Kuro are chosen by the white lion, both of them being gifted with a bayard and Kuro becomes the white paladin.
High jinx ensues as Lance and Kuro figure out how to pilot the white lion as both one unite and two separate units. Lance taking on the teacher role as he tries to help Kuro understand how to pilot a lion. (as again Kuro has no memory or knowledge of how to pilot any of the lions.) And after going between Blue to Red lion and now to White, Lance feels like he’s getting pretty used to handling all different types of lions. (giving Lance a nice character arch about adaptability.)
Lotor learns to be the new pilot of the castle of lions though still feels guilty over killing Narti and it takes time to reconcile with his old team. With Coran and Krolia there to help, now that she’s found her son she is sticking around.
(Tough without the two years on the time whale, Keith and his mom’s reconciliation is slow going.) Eventually Keith, Pidge and his mom all go on a mission together and they discover a puppy space wolf. Keith feeling sorry for the pup that just lost his parents and Pidge encourages him to keep him. Though he says he has to give him a name and Keith is very confused why he can’t just call the pup wolf.
The team all do their part to try and have Keith and his mom have some bonding time. through they both seem to really enjoy the digital training sessions that Pidge makes for them. The first time Keith ever calls Krolia mom is when she strongly suggest that Keith should date Pidge while standing right infront of Pidge and the rest of the team. Getting a very embarrassed ‘MOM!’ out of Keith. Lance coeing off to the side going ‘awe their officially family now’.
And Lastly: What if Lotor’s Colony of Altean’s never happened?
The Altean Colony thing doesn’t happen, Lotor never created it. Lotor has a whole new level of self-respect as he now not only proved his abilities as a warrior when he became emperor he also proved himself as an alchemist by helping to create the White lion. So now their main enemy is Sendak and the Galra who follow him and refuse to become peaceful and still want to follow Zarkon’s original plans of galactic domination.
Even Sendak eventually brushes Haggar (or Honerva) aside which leads to his downfall and Haggar’s heightened desperation. So just as the enemy Galra seems defeated (after sacrificing the castle ship in the last battle against Sendak) They all try heading to Earth, as without the castle all their lions are low on power and having trouble connecting to anyone, and Earth according to their maps is the next friendless planet.
They get to earth but have to deal with being treated like an enemies before they manage to get people to listen to them. Thanks to Sam Holt vouching for the Voltron team. All the Paladins get their family reunion. Lance introduces Kuro as his family saying he’s Shiro’s twin brother, Kuro surprised and grateful for the warm welcome.
Shiro and Adam get to have their reunion though it’s bitter sweet. Adam pretty much stated that they would never work, that there was a bigger gap between them, then before and that too much they didn’t understand about each other. That Adam can’t be the one by Shiro’s side, but points out that there’s clearly someone who understands what Shiro’s been through and gets Shiro in ways he never could. Adam glances over at Matt who keeps looking at the reunited ex-boyfriends and shyly blushes and looks away when Shiro and Adam look at him.
Honerva does find a way to split between relatives, entering the reality the team had been in during the Hole in the Sky. And not only does she recruit the Alteans in that reality, but she also becomes their empress. Bringing an army of Alteans that have had 10,000 years to advance their technology and when they take prisoners they turn those prisoners into mindless allies increasing their numbers with each victory.
This pushes the teams skills and abilities to the max, because they can’t just destroy their enemy when many of them are allies turned against them against their will. It makes the whole team have to ask hard questions and this also gives the Galra a way to make up for past sins as they fight these intruding Alteans from another reality and since these Alteans have never fought Galra before as they were wiped out thousands of years ago. They are completely thrown off by Galra’s way of victory or death. Altean’s not used to alien creatures risking their life for victory.
Lotor and Allura have to come to grips with their views on altean culture and how all of it is not perfect. Lotor becomes a great leader for the Galra and Allura eventually becomes a leader to those Alteans that wish for a different way of life who don’t wish to conquer others and want true peace with compromises not forced servitude.
This then causes the Altean rebels and Lotor’s Galra to team up, uniting the two races in a way that hasn’t happened in 10,000 years. (Giving greater purpose to Allura and Lotor having feelings for each other and becoming co-leaders to their united people.)
And that’s how all these things could happen in one universe.
(Sorry there was quite a few other plot points I didn’t touch on such as Lotor’s generals, Rombelle and many others but this is long enough as it is.)

A list of some of my VLD fics
Heya! I’ve seen some new people following me here and I thought it’d be good to greet you all first! So, hi! I’m Mila, AKA Silverine on AO3, and I love writing for VLD, klance being the owners of my heart. I decided to rec some of my own klance fics for those who may be interested, since I haven’t updated my fic masterpost in a looong while 😅 here we go!
fake, not fate || One-shot, post s5, T rated || Canonverse, Soulmates AU, Fake dating, Fake marriage, Marry or die, Mind reading (a lot, I know)
Lance messes up during a mission and crashes into a sacred place. As if that wasn't bad enough, he can't leave unless his soulmate comes and marries him in a... questionable ceremony. Well, he just has to fake a relationship with any of his friends and get over with it... right?
it’s the little things || One-shot, s6, T rated || Quantum Abyss, Keith and Krolia bonding, pining Keith
Keith and Krolia share a moment in the Quantum Abyss, discussing Keith's feelings for Lance.
a gold for a gold || One-shot, Modern AU, T rated || Divers!klance, Proposal fic
At the World Championship, the Kogane-McClain team is about to participate in the high diving competition, but one of the team members is more anxious than he should. The gold medal is not the only gold at stakes here...
5 reasons to stay || Incomplete 4/6, post s6, T rated || Kinda fix it, canonverse, road trip shenanigans, feelings realization.
After their scarring battle against Lotor, Lance gets sick and he confesses to Keith he just wants to go home. But now that Keith has found his own peace, he will try to convince Lance during the long road back to not quit by showing him a few reasons to stay around. Five curious, bizarre reasons, to be exact.
that’s you in the mirror || Complete, 7/7, post s7, T rated || Body Swap, canonverse, Garrison, mutual pining, mentions of allurance (no real romance as in canon)
While trying to understand the mystery of the fallen Altean, Lance and Keith suffer a magical accident and end up swapping bodies. It’s definitely not the best moment for any of them-- not while they’re coming to terms with the confusing feelings they have developed for each other.
you’re always welcome here || Complete, 3/3, post canon, M rated || PTSD depictions, mild smut, Farmer Lance (gets better), family bonding, team bonding, Near-death experiences, feelings realization, Pining Keith, Healing Lance (altean marks and canon compliant, I’m sorry if it’s not your jam).
An unexpected tragedy that occurs during his work hits Keith harder than expected, and his fellow Blades decide it’s time for their leader to go back home. But... what is “home” exactly? Is it a what, or is it a who?
I’m particularly proud of the last one, just so you know lol. I’d also like to recommend these two for other ships:
Because summer will come || Shatt, one-shot, Modern AU || Writer!Shiro x Editor!Matt.
Matthew Holt is a young and enthusiastic editor for Altea Publishing House, a renowned editorial company. Being assigned to his favorite writer ever, Matt is delighted to finally meet the idol he imagines as an old, kind gentleman… but Mr. Kuron, A.K.A. Takashi Shirogane, is not what he expected at all, and his wish to make him write a bestseller at any cost could be the biggest challenge of his career... and also his personal life.
Two of Cups (Say You’ll Be Back) || Romellura, one-shot, Modern AU || Psychic!Allura x Normal Pining Lesbian! Romelle (lol)
Romelle had a friend at school who had a very special ability: she could see the future and warn people about future events. However, their friendship ended abruptly when Allura suddenly disappeared from her life, giving her her first heartbreak. But a decade later, a certain tarotist appears in town, and Romelle’s life may take a strange turn...
If you check any of these, I really hope you enjoy them! I still write for klance so if you have prompts there’s a chance I’ll take it if I have enough time :D

I wanna know everything
WHERE DO I BEGIN, VULPES????
Okay okay, I’m just gonna list off the things that I’ve already written for this AU and hope I don’t get into spoilers for the Undercut DJ. To make things clear, this AU is like a mix of canon divergence/fix-it since I’ve been taking the time to rewatch VLD and analyze the story as a whole. So let’s start at the beginning~
Voltron 2020: A canon divergence/fix-it AU based on the 2016 VLD series. I only call it Voltron 2020 since the stories I’ve written/drawn for it so far wouldn’t be out in the public until next year haha.
Where does it start?
V2020 (I’m just shorten it to this) keeps S1 and S2 in canon and kicks off in S3. There’s only one small change I would make to S1 but I’ll get into that when I talk about Shiro in this AU.
These haircuts??? Explain please???
Haha, yes I’m a fan of the idea of Keith, Lance and Allura (yeah you heard me) having shorter haircuts. More so Lance because compared to the rest of the cast’s original designs, his hair maybe be simple but lacks a bit of flair. Lance is the one who get’s his undercut first and the story behind how it happens is covered in a fan comic called undercut that’s slated for release this year.
How Keith and Allura get their haircuts are part of the story as well but doesn’t come until maybe S4 or after (I have to figure out the details on that). But for now, I just wanted to see how Keith looked with short hair and it looks pretty good!
Keith is in BP suit and Lance is in RP suit?
Yup, one of the things that drove me bonkers in VLD was how they didn’t match their lions. This is more of an OCD thing because I prefer matched colors over mix-match. However, once again changing their suits also has a reason behind it in the story. You can sort of call it…truly stepping into their new roles in the Paladin team. For Keith, becoming the leader Shiro always saw in him. For Lance, becoming the right-hand man and gaining confidence in his skills as a pilot (also becoming Keith’s rock haha).
Okay the real question: Does Shiro die in this AU?
Heres where things get…a bit interesting? I have two versions of this AU where Shiro does die in his battle with Zarkon and the other where he does not die. So a divergent…within a divergent haha. I have to preface this with I don’t hate Shiro by any means and love his character with all my heart, which is why I made a version where he doesn’t die. Shiro as a disabled, LGBT and PoC character has so much potential that killing him off would be a waste for storytelling. Since the AU takes off in S3 where it was implied that he died, that’s where I took the story and started writing how his death affected the team, mainly Keith. The main point I want to get across is that Shiro needs to lose his connection to Black Lion in order for Keith, Lance and Allura to grow as characters.
In the case I choose to have Shiro die….
As per usual, Keith reluctantly becomes the Black Paladin, Lance becoming the Red Paladin and Allura is the Blue Paladin. We see how Keith is struggling with his loss of Shiro and how he feels incompetent being the leader of Voltron. This would then lead to into the undercut comic and spark a more genuine, supportive friendship between Keith and Lance. I would also keep how Shiro’s conscience remains in the Black Lion, which only Keith knows about cause he’s BP now. This would be great thread to connect Keith and Allura who have lost someone dear to them and rely on technology to keep them alive (when in reality they will always live in their hearts).
I would also keep the Kuron idea but instead of him joining team Voltron, Honerva and Zakron use the Shiro clones and make their own version of Voltron with the Robeasts we see in S7-8. That way, we could keep The Black Paladins fight since that’s a very emotional and groundbreaking moment for Keith having to face someone cares deeply for.
In the case I choose to have Shiro live….
I wouldn’t have him be BP again since that prevents Keith from growing into a leader, which then prevent Lance growing as a character and then prevents Allura from growing as a character. If anyone has noticed after watching the series, the character development kind of gets wonky when they decided to bring Shiro back as BP. If anything, it really hindered Keith, Lance and Allura’s character development since S3 focused so much on the dynamics in team Voltron shifted (which would have been super interesting to see as time went on). Since this idea is fairly still new I haven’t quite figured out how I would write the story if I went this route. But, I’m not opposed of having Shiro being involved with the Altean colony…again gotta workshop some stuff here but killing off Shiro is such a waste of potential!
ALSO, if Shiro stays alive, then we need to address Adam in S1 E1. It can be simple like when everyone is at Keith’s shack and Adam’s name gets dropped casually like this:
Shiro: How did you get all this information? This is classified stuff from the Garrison…
Keith: I had someone help me.
Shiro: Someone….?
Keith: …it was Adam.
Shiro: Oh…
Not exact but my point is that could have been a great moment to tell the audience Shiro and Keith have a connection with Adam (more so Shiro because we all didn’t know he was gay until much much later in the series). But lemme move on before I get too into Adam cause so much needs to be written out before I spill it all haha.
Next big question: which ships are canon?
Y’all don’t burn me at the stake but….
Allura and Lotor.
I KNOW I KNOW! BUT WHAT ABOUT KLANCE!?!?!?!?!??!
Y’all know I will ship Klance until the end of time but right now I haven’t gotten to a point in the story where confirming Klance as a romantic relationship feels natural and right yet. If anything, in V2020 I really want to build Keith and Lance’s relationship as friends and teammates which in turn can lead into something more. But the groundwork needs to be done in order for that to happen.
But yeah Allura and Lotor are confirmed in V2020 cause that feels right and Lotor deserves so much more than what we saw in the show. I’ll leave it at that for now.
Is the ending the same?
HA. NOPE. FAR FROM IT!
This is probably biggest change I made in V2020 but when VLD did this it made me worried for the show as a whole:
Zarkon remains as the main villain and final boss for the entire series.
I would have not killed off Zarkon as early as they did in VLD simply because Zarkon was made out to be such a big threat in the beginning. Don’t get me wrong, Honerva and the war factions are a cool idea as opposing forces but they could have happened first and left Zarkon for last.
Honevra regaining her memories and going on her rampage could have happened first. Lotor could have found out that she was his mother and had to confront his abuser. Allura would have to face the fact someone of her own kind was doing horrible things and that evil isn’t determined by (alien) race. All of that could have been presented before killing Zarkon and would have pushed Allura and Lotor’s character development. Also, having Honevra written off first would give Zarkon even more incentive to do what he’s doing cause well, that’s his wife and love makes you do crazy things. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The war factions could have happened after Honerva and that’s where we learn more about the Galra empire and society. Where are there are cracks in the system? How are half breeds like Keith and Lotor viewed? How do factions like the Blade come into play and help team Voltron? All of that could have been explored! Honestly, the war factions arc(?) is an opportunity to further develop Keith and Lotor characters and their relationship since they are both half-Galra.
As for the final battle and ending of it all, Allura doesn’t die and Voltron (the robot) is the one to be sacrificed.
I wrote a whole theory on it after watching S8, so if you wanna read yet another long post you can check it out here haha.
The point of keeping Zarkon as the main (and final) villain in V2020 is to keep the overarching story simple. Think of ATLA, the story as a whole is really simple: 4 nations based on elemental powers are under the tyrannical rule of a dictator and only one person can stop him and save the world. By keeping the objective of the story simple, there’s room for character development and world-building. Instead of a dark, broody space epic (if that’s what you wanna call it), V2020 focuses more on the characters and world-building that are affected by the main opposing force known as Zarkon. A lot of the stories I have in mind are more episodic but I think that works best for a show where the stage is as grand as space haha.
Pidge and Hunk??
As for Pidge, she kind of….gets everything she wants in the show?? There isn’t really anything drastic I would change since the show fixed her issues…
As for Hunk my baby boy sweet cinnamon roll, don’t worry. I’m making sure he’s more than just a scaredy cat who loves food. I really liked how in the show Hunk learned about Galra diplomacy so maybe I can work with that!
___
Yeah, I think….that’s everything I can tell you about this AU and I’m so sorry, Vulpes, that I made this answer so long! ^^; Thank you showing interest in my AU!

What happenes if/when allura shiro and lance meet in the shrödinger reality au? Theres do many ways this meeting could go wrong..........
Also shiro having a brother in this au is such an interesting plot point.. Shiro is slowly descending into madness by his memories halucinations and stuffing severed limbs into potted plants pots and kuro is like 'im so glad my brother has a new hobby:) hes been so passionate about gardening recently! I wonder what fertilizer is he using to make them grow this well.. also why is the floor do slippery nowadays'
and the answer turns out to be maybe-propably-not-real severed body parts
The way i see it (and i am basing this on vibes), that they didnt even notice or remembered. The way Lance's Thing works is that he 1) goes usually unnoticed, like pebbles on a road 2) even if you notice him, or talk to him, or he talks to you as long as you are not the one he's targetting (which rarely ever happens) they dont usually 'recognize' him. It is like how some animals dont recognize their own reflection, maybe some people would feel off about him, some people would be curious about him and some people would be able to notice and remember him (like that one doctor) but ultimately they wont be able to pinpoint what exactly is wrong just a constant feeling of wrongness. 3) they usually wont remember him. They might feel like they are forgetting something, or something is missing but usually they will forget about him.
However again the pebbles on road metaphor applies here. If you dont notice him, you just dont notice him, if you had one passing glance, you'll forget about him instantly, if you noticed him, talked to him, examined him, you are more likely to notice some details meaning you would realize that Something is Wrong, meaning you will remember him for a bit longer.
Which is how i feel Lance's first meeting with Shiro and Allura is going to go. They wont notice him, or recognize him, or remember him. I imagine there's some serial killer case both Allura and Shiro got dragged into with Allura was a witness (she was trying to understand wth us going on and trying to understand this world and oh shit that person just attacked someone) and Shiro kinda being a suspect cause he's being odd according to his friends, and Lance who has decided that he can do a better detective job than the cops (and he's 100% right) and also he thinks said serial killer is the one who 'killed' him. They do meet Lance and because they do remember or have dreamt Lance from their vld timeline, they are able to notice something is off about that guy, but they lose track of him and they kinda forget about him but do keep getting this nagging feeling that they forgot something important
Allura and Shiro do not get along at first. Allura who remembers Everything is like "Shiro? Shiro! Shiro it is you!! It's me Allura!! Oh thank voltron and guardian i found you this world is so strange and a total fake" and Shiro who has been trying to suppress his dreams for past few months is like- "Who tf are you??? I dont know who are you or what this voltron is but please stay away from me" (<=lying). And like Allura who was so desperate to have traces of her old life back, started to pretty much like trying to reach out to him (aka pester him). Eventually Allura is able to convince him that, yeah she indeed is both girl in his dreams but also real and Real af, and while he does Not believe her, he is also just so tired of the paranormal bs he is dealing with and if this Weird stalker lady can help him than on god he's taking that help.
And yep (in my mind his brother is Kuron) and while he doesnt show it, he is Very worried about Shiro. He reasons that he is just coping with his accident and dealing with loss of his arm and dream job and the Trauma™ (and technically he isnt wrong) but he can also tell this is something beyond That. However he has decided that he'll give Shiro space, let him come to him on his own, be supportive and strong and smiley for him. But yeah he's glad that Shiro is getting into a new hobbies, even if he is too into it sometimes.
#stolen identity au#empty answers#It'll take a While and a Lot of detective work to like bring them all together#But yeah#Need to work on the timeline#And the plot#And like everything#Anyway#thanks for asking!!!!!

Stop Blaming the Victim - Mabel Pines Edition
So, I came across this guy’s 20 minute bitch fest video essay about how Mabel Pines is not only a terrible character, but apparently more villainous than Bill Cipher. I gave the video a chance, because sometimes these video essays bring up good points (like a lot of the post-Voltron video essays rightfully demanding justice for Kuron, Allura, Lotor, and Lance). Not sure why I bothered with this one, though - the guy took multiple scenes out of context to serve as “evidence,” penalized Mabel for crimes that other characters had committed, and then had the balls to request that folks send his video to Alex Hirsch so Senpai would notice him!
There were a lot of arguments in his video that I want to analyze in greater detail (Mabel being responsible for Robbie & Wendy’s “toxic, abusive” relationship, the Love Potion controversy, who’s really responsible for Weirdmageddon, etc.), but today I wanted to talk about the argument that really pissed me off.
If Mabel hadn’t coerced Dipper into breaking up with Gideon for her, Gideon wouldn’t have gone mad & tried to destroy the Pines Family and steal the Mystery Shack.
Where do I even begin?
First of all, Gideon had ambitions to steal the Mystery Shack, find the other Journal, and take over Gravity Falls long before he met Mabel. Their breakup may have made his vendetta a bit more personal, but he would’ve gone forward with his schemes even if Mabel had agreed to marry him.
Second, Mabel had tried to make it clear to Gideon on multiple occasions that she wasn’t comfortable with the idea of dating him. She kept saying she just wanted to be friends, but he steamrolled over her concerns with over-the-Top invitations to dates.
Some could argue this was a bit of retribution for all of Mabel’s unrequited crushes, that she’s getting a taste of her own obsessive medicine. But while Mabel can go a little too far trying to impress a guy, she’ll also respect their autonomy if they can’t or don’t want to be in a relationship with her. She COULD have kept harassing the “Yes, Definitely, Absolutely” boy in the first episode after he presumably ignored her letter, but she didn’t. She COULD have made plans to leave Gravity Falls to track down Mermando’s manatee betrothed & take her out with a propeller boat, but she didn’t. While on the subject of Mermando, if he had told Mabel in “The Deep End” that he already had a girlfriend instead of telling her he was a merman, she would’ve been heartbroken, BUT she would also have respectfully ended her romantic advances. Gideon didn’t respect Mabel’s autonomy - he wanted her, and nothing she could say would change his mind.
Third, Mabel didn’t ask for Dipper’s help with dealing with Gideon. Sure, she confided in her twin brother how uncomfortable she was with Gideon’s affections and how she wanted to end the relationship without completely breaking Gideon’s heart, but she didn’t expect Dipper to make her problem go away. Dipper volunteered to break up with Gideon for her when he saw how upset Mabel was thinking everyone just expected her to stay with Gideon forever, no matter how SHE felt about the situation.
Should Mabel have broken up with Gideon herself? Yes, definitely, absolutely. But we cannot forget that Mabel, Dipper, and Gideon are kids. And, fun fact, kids don’t always know what the right thing to do is in any given situation. Hell, even ADULTS can make bad decisions when it comes to relationships. But Mabel realized, on her own, that she needed to break up with Gideon herself instead of using Dipper as her messenger.
“But what about Wendy?” I hear you say. “Didn’t SHE have to tell Mabel to break with Gideon?” No, Wendy never got that far in their conversation. Sure, Mabel asked Wendy for advice about guys, but Wendy got caught up rattling of the names of her ex boyfriends while Mabel put her feelings about the Gideon situation into words.
Getting back to Gideon’s actions, though, I believe he would’ve snapped no matter who ultimately told him to break it off with Mabel. If Mabel had done it herself, Gideon may have put on the same happy front he adopted when Dipper told him to leave Mabel alone, then gone back home to plot his revenge like before. Maybe he would’ve used the mind control spell to make Mabel his perfect mate. Or he could’ve found a memory potion or love potion to trick Mabel into thinking she was in love with him. Or, like we saw in the show, Gideon could’ve just threatened to kill Dipper if Mabel refused to go out with him.
We’ll never know for certain what Gideon would’ve done if Mabel had broken up with him herself. But what I know without a shadow of a doubt is Mabel was NOT responsible for any of Gideon’s actions.
#gravity falls#mabel pines#gideon gleeful#we need to stop blaming the victim#get over the Friend Zone#thanks for coming to my ted talk#mabel’s not an awful person you’re just an ass#gideon x mabel is a NoTP for me#maybe if Gideon learns to put others before himself they could work#but not while he’s still obsessed with power#shooting star

Reactions and Revelations
“Kuron means clone.”
“What do you mean Kuron means clone? How would you even know what some Galra word means?” Hunk asked.
“Because it isn’t a Galra word. It’s Japanese.”
His teammates from Earth realized what that meant, but the two Alteans did not.
“Japanese?” Allura wondered out loud.
“It’s another language from Earth,” Lance explained.
“And it just so happens to be Shiro’s native language,” Pidge added on.
“Why would they use a Japanese word instead of a Galra one?” Coran wondered.
“Probably to get to Shiro. I mean, how would you feel if an evil empire used a word in your native language as the name of one of their evil plans?” Lance asked as he climbed back onto his floating tray.
“But in the memory, the guards said they weren’t supposed to say the name in front of him.” Keith pointed out.
“Them. They said they weren’t supposed to say the name in front of them.” Shiro stated.
“Yeah, you and the other prisoners,” Pidge said wondering why Shiro had a faraway look in his eyes.
“What if they’re right?”
“About what?” Allura asked.
“What if I’m not who I think I am? What if I’m…a clone?”
“No,” Keith said decidedly. “You’re Shiro. Not a clone.”
“The guards did say the name was on the nose.” Hunk pointed out.
“No! We would have noticed if you weren’t yourself, Shiro.” Keith continued.
“Your quintessence level is the same as it was before. You are Shiro.” Allura stated.
“Black wouldn’t have let some stranger pilot her,” Coran added.
“But it makes sense. I haven’t felt like myself since I came back to the team. My thoughts have been all kinds of confusing. Like they’re not my own.” Shiro said.
“Well, you were a prisoner for a while.” Lance pointed out. “It takes time to get used to freedom again.”
“I’ve got a way to prove you’re Shiro,” Pidge said. “What is my full name?”
“Your full name is Kathleen, but you go by Katie,” Shiro responded.
“Kathleen? I was so close!” Hunk lamented on not guessing Pidge’s name correctly earlier in the day.
“See? You and Lance were the only ones who knew my full name on the ship. Did Lance ever mention my full name or nickname to you since we rescued you?”
“No.”
“Then it’s settled. You’re Shiro. End of discussion.” Keith stated.
“But what if that’s a fake memory?” Hunk asked.
“You can’t hack a brain, Hunk,” Pidge responded.
“Not usually, but Shiro’s prosthetic has a molecular level storage unit with a direct pathway to his brain. His memories can be hacked and fake ones can be put in.”
“Well, then how do we know the memory of ‘Project Kuron’ isn’t a fake one put there to make Shiro doubt himself?” Keith asked.
“The Galra Empire would be devious enough to do something like that,” Allura commented.
“True. Ok, there has to be a way to prove whether Shiro is Shiro or not without relying on memories.” Pidge started trying to think of possible methods. “Hunk, do you have any ideas?”
“I might, but maybe we should talk about them where Shiro can’t hear us, in case the Galra are listening in through him?”
“You’re just being paranoid, Hunk,” Lance commented.
“He’s right though. If they do have a way of listening through me, we need to make sure they don’t hear how you plan to prove that I’m a clone.”
“You mean to prove you aren’t a clone,” Keith said.
“Perhaps it would be best to conquer and divide? We’ll stay with Shiro while Hunk and Pidge figure out a way to prove that Shiro is himself.”
“An excellent suggestion, Coran.” Allura responded.
“Yeah. Me and Hunk can go brainstorm now.”
“Once we have something, we’ll let you know.”
“We’ll be here.” Lance waved as Hunk and Pidge left the room.
“While they’re doing that, maybe it would be a good idea to put me in a cell. If they could listen through me, they might be able to control me. I don’t want to hurt any of you.”
“You won’t. You’re Shiro. You’re our friend.” Keith stated.
“We don’t want to put you in a cell,” Allura *sighed*, “but if it will make you feel more comfortable, we can do that. But we will all stay with you until the truth comes to light.”
“But-” Keith began but was silenced by Allura.
“It is Shiro’s choice, and we shall respect it. Soon enough, Hunk and Pidge will have a way to prove who he truly is. Until then, we wait.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Sorry to keep you guys waiting for so long.” Hunk said as he and Pidge rolled in an object covered in a sheet.
“No worries, Hunk,” Lance responded from his floating tray next to Keith.
“So you found a way to prove if I am a clone?” Shiro asked from behind the force field of the cell.
“Yes,” Pidge replied.
“Why is it covered in a sheet?” Keith wondered out loud.
“For dramatic effect, duh!” Lance exclaimed.
“How effective is the test?” Allura asked.
“The test should be over 99.99% accurate. There is very little room for error.” Hunk explained.
“What is this test?” Coran asked.
Pidge pulled off the sheet to reveal
“A bike?”
“Yes, Lance. A bike.”
“I don’t get it. How is a bike supposed to prove whether or not Shiro’s a clone?”
“Shiro told us that he remembers learning to ride a bike. That’s something you never forget.” Hunk began. “And he doesn’t remember riding any bike like things either of the times he was a prisoner, so, if he can ride the bike, he’s Shiro. If not, he’s a clone.”
“This seems like an oddly simple way to prove that Shiro is Shiro,” Keith stated.
“Riding a bike relies on muscle memory, which is different than mental memory,” Pidge explained. “Seeing as we can’t rely on mental memories alone, this is our only way to prove who he is.”
“Are you ready to try it, Shiro?” Hunk asked.
“Ready as I’ll ever be. I just need Pidge to reactivate my arm.”
Coran punched in the code for the cell and Shiro stepped out. Pidge came over and booted up Shiro’s arm. He flexed his fingers as the feeling came back into them.
“Now the bike just has to scan you so it can adjust to the correct height.”
“I knew there was something more to the bike!” Lance shouted as the bike scanned Shiro. “Wait, does that mean I can ride it too?”
“Sorry, Lance, but there’s only so small the bike can shift,” Pidge said apologetically.
“We can build one for you if you want.” Hunk offered.
“Nah. It’s not that big a deal.”
Shiro climbed onto the bike after it finished shifting.
“Moment of truth, right?” He said with a nervous laugh.
He put his feet on the pedals and started to ride. Almost instantly the bike fell on its side.
“Try again. Maybe your arm didn’t have all of its feeling back.” Allura said.
“Yeah…maybe.”
Shiro wasn’t so sure. He got back on the bike and started to go forward. He lasted maybe a second before he fell on the other side.
Everyone was in shock.
“Well, I guess I’m no longer the youngest on the team,” Pidge said softly as the clone of Shiro stood up again.
“What the heck, Pidge?” Hunk asked incredulously. “Shiro’s not Shiro, and you’re talking about who’s the youngest on the team?!”
“Don’t you think I realize that?!” she responded.
“Now now, paladins. None of us wanted this to be true, but we must acknowledge that the Shiro we saved was a clone of him with all of his memories stuffed into his head hole.” Coran calmed everyone down before Keith interrupted.
“No! Try again.” Keith said. “Maybe your arm is throwing off your balance.”
“It’s not. They made sure that their ‘Champion’ would be balanced in a fight.”
“Well then maybe the bike isn’t a good test. Maybe you two built it wrong.” Keith looked over at Pidge and Hunk.
They shook their heads.
“Me and Hunk both tried it. The bike works.”
“No, no, no!” Keith exclaimed. “You are Shiro. You have to be Shiro. Cause if you’re not, then that means…”
“It means that you have to start your search for the real Shiro again.” Clone Shiro stated. “I’m sorry, Kei-” he put his hand on Keith’s shoulder in a comforting manner, but Keith shoved it away.
“Stop it! You’re not Shiro! You’re not him, so stop acting like you know me!” Keith ran out of the room, but not before everyone saw the flash of yellow and tears in his eyes.
“I can go talk to him.” Lance offered.
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Pidge asked. “He seems pretty upset.”
“I can calm him down. He just needs to let off some steam in the training deck.”
“Keith does raise a good point,” Allura said. “Seeing as you aren’t Shiro, we should call you something else. Is there something you would like us to call you?”
“I…I don’t know.” It was obvious that clone Shiro was getting overwhelmed.
“Hey, dude, stay with us.” Lance flew his tray closer to clone Shiro to try to calm him down.
“You’re ok.” Hunk said as he hugged clone Shiro.
“Am I?” clone Shiro whispered to himself barely loud enough to be heard.
The others looked at each other worriedly. Sure, this clone had somehow tricked them all, but they knew that he had also been tricked into thinking he was Shiro. They had gone through the mind meld together more than a few times since he had joined the team. They knew he was a good person. Seeing him so upset was heartbreaking.
“Would you be open to suggestions for a name?” Coran asked after a moment.
“…Yeah.” Clone Shiro said as he untangled himself from Hunk.
“We could call you Kuron since that’s the name of the project.”
“Wouldn’t that basically be just calling him Clone?” Lance pointed out.
“Yeah, I’m with Lance on this.” Hunk said.
“It would be more than a bit rude.” Allura agreed.
“What about Bob?” Pidge suggested causing everyone to give her a ‘really, Pidge?’ kind of look.
“No. I can’t think of anyone I, er, that Shiro knows that would ever go by Bob.”
“Hmm. We can’t call you Space Dad. A clone is like an identical twin, so we could call you Space Uncle, but Coran already has that title.” Lance thought out loud.
“A title I wear with pride!” Coran interjected.
“What about Dude, or Bro? Oooh! Broseph. That’s a great name.”
“Please take this seriously, Lance,” Allura said.
“Fine, fine. Just trying to lighten the mood.”
Why didn’t she tell Pidge that? She suggested a joke name too.
“What about Kuro? It’s short for Kuron, but stands on its own as a name. Or does that mean something bad in Japanese?” Hunk asked.
“It does mean something, but not anything bad. It means black.”
“That is fitting, given that you are our black paladin,” Allura commented.
“If anything, it’s a good placeholder until you think of what you’d like to be called.” Lance looked over to clone Shiro to see if he liked the idea.
“That works for now.” The newly named Kuro said. “I’m sorry that you have to start looking for the real Shiro again.”
“We don’t have to start all over. I saved the data from my first search for Shiro.” Pidge pointed out. “I can get the search program up and running again in no time.”
“In the meantime, I should probably get back in the cell,” Kuro said.
“What? Why?” Lance asked.
“The Galra messed with my head. What if they have some way of making me hurt you guys? Especially you, Lance. You’re vulnerable now, no offense. They could take advantage of that.”
“None taken,” Lance responded.
Hey, just because I got shrunk doesn’t mean I’m helpless!
‘Isn’t that exactly what it means?’
“Shir- Kuro, we know you would not hurt us, but if being locked up makes you feel safer, then we can do that,” Allura stated.
“It does make me feel better.”
“Would you like me to deactivate your arm as well?” Pidge asked.
“Yes.”
A few seconds later and Kuro’s right arm was hanging limply at his side. Kuro stepped back into the cell and Hunk entered the code to lock it before turning to Pidge.
“Pidge, you and I should look over Kuro’s DNA sequences again. Maybe there’s some clue to how the Galra aged him so quickly.”
“True, there might be something left behind. It would have to be naturally occurring though since nothing was raising any red flags.”
“What do you mean aged him so quickly?” Lance asked.
“Well, since he’s a clone, he would have started out as a baby like any other person. He would age at a normal rate unless something was tampered with.” Hunk explained.
“So they sped up the process to get me to the right age?” Kuro responded.
“Yes. Most likely, you’re only a few months old.” Pidge answered.
“Would that affect how I’ll continue to age?”
“Hopefully we’ll have an answer to that later today.” Hunk said. “We’re going to go work on it right now.”
“We’ll stay here with Kuro,” Allura said referring to her and Coran.
“You don’t have to do that, Princess,” Kuro responded.
“Nonsense. You’re a part of this team. We aren’t about to leave you alone after the shock we’ve all just had.”
“Thank you.” Kuro didn’t know what else to say.
“I’m going to go talk to Keith. He’s probably calmed down a bit by now.” Lance stated.
Chulatt volunteered to go with him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lance and Chulatt flew on to the training deck and saw that Keith was on one side of the room using a punching bag. Lance flew the tray closer to where Keith would see him and Chulatt.
“I didn’t know we had punching bags,” Lance commented.
Keith paused for a moment and looked over.
“You don’t really do a lot of punching.”
“True.” Lance shrugged. “I’m not as much of an up-close and personal fighter like you.”
Keith went back to hitting the bag.
“Is this what you do when you get angry?” Lance asked.
“What makes you think that I’m angry?”
“Well, your tone right there for one thing and your eyes have a bit of a yellow tint to them too.” Lance decided not to mention the tear streaks he saw on Keith’s face.
“Yeah? Well, I am pretty pissed off.” Keith punched the bag with emphasis as he spoke. “We’ve had a liar pretending to be Shiro all this time. And none of us realized he was an imposter, not even me.”
“He didn’t know he was an imposter either.” Lance gently reminded Keith.
“I know that, but…*uggh*” Keith groaned as he stopped punching the bag, closed his eyes and pressed his forehead against it. He hit the bag on the side once more. “I don’t know what to feel. This is just…*uggh*.”
“You’re not the only one,” Lance said.
Chulatt *squeaked* and nodded in agreement.
“We’re all still a bit in shock. It might help both you and Kuro to talk about what you’re feeling.”
“Kuro?”
“Oh yeah, you ran out before that. Kuro is what we’re calling clone Shiro until he comes up with a name he prefers.”
“Oh.”
“Look, Keith. No one is expecting you to drop everything and talk things out right now. We know that you’ve known Shiro the longest out of any of us, so you can take all the time you need to come to terms with things. If you want to talk to any of us, we’re here for you.”
“Is it ok if I want to be left alone for a while?” Keith hesitantly asked, hoping he didn’t offend Lance. He appreciated Lance coming to talk, but still needed some space to think about things.
“Sure. I’ll go tell the others. Just know that if you’re not out of here by dinner time, Hunk’s going to drag you to the kitchen. See ya.”
“Yeah.”
Lance heard Keith go back to the punching bag as he left the room.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Well, I can’t say I’m entirely surprised that my mother’s plan didn’t work. Shame.” Lotor lamented.
“Does this affect our plan at all?” Zethrid asked.
“Yeah, now they’re going to start looking for their original black paladin. What if they don’t take the bait?” Ezor asked.
“Oh, they’ll take the bait. Narti here has done an excellent job in hiding any trace of their teammate in the system.”
Narti nodded her head in thanks at Lotor’s praise.
“They won’t find anything until we allow them to. And now they’ll be worried about two teammates, splitting their attention.”
“Meaning that there’s less attention on our target.” Axha completed Lotor’s train of thought.
“Precisely. We are turning this setback into an advantage. With their attention divided, it will be that much easier to get what we’re after. Everything is ready for the next step of the plan. We’ll send the message tomorrow. For now, rest. We have a battle to prepare for in the morning.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kuro opened his eyes and found himself in an unfamiliar place. He was laying on his back looking up at the night sky.
Where am I?
He stood up and looked around, but only saw more of the same. The sky was streaked with purple and filled with more stars than he could count.
Wait, this is the astral plane, where I-no, Shiro, fought Zarkon to be the true Black Paladin. But why am I here?
[This is a place we can talk alone while you stay in the cell.]
Kuro turned around and saw Black standing behind him.
“I guess you’ve heard what I am.” Kuro looked over to the side, ashamed at his origin.
[I’ve known since we first rescued you.]
Kuro looked up at her in shock and disbelief.
“You knew?” he softly asked. “You knew I was an imposter? How did- why didn’t you say anything?”
[Because you were not ready to hear it.]
“I don’t think it’s possible to be ready to hear that you aren’t who you think you are.”
[True, but now the rest of your team has gotten the chance to know you.]
“But I don’t know myself. Everything’s blurring together in my head and I don’t know what I’m thinking.”
[Your team will help you get through this.]
“They’re not my team, they’re Shiro’s team.”
[My paladin-]
“I’m not your paladin! I’m a clone, a copy.”
Black stomped one of her paws on the ground.
[You are every bit as much my paladin as Shiro is. If you were not, you wouldn’t be able to be here in the astral plane.]
“But-“
[Do not doubt yourself. You are courageous, kind, loyal, and a great leader. It does not matter how you were brought into this world. You must decide what to do with the life you have been given.]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Hey, Hunk!” Lance called out as he and Chulatt flew the tray into the room.
“Shh! Kuro’s sleeping.” Hunk whispered from in front of the cell Kuro was in.
“Oh, sorry,” Lance whispered as he came closer.
“It’s ok, you didn’t know.” Hunk whispered back.
They kept their voices at that level as they talked.
“It’s good to see him getting some rest. He’s had a rough day.”
“Yeah, I think we all have. How did talking with Keith go?”
“It went good. I think he’s more willing to talk with Kuro about the situation.”
“That’s good.”
“Where did Allura and Coran go? I thought they were sitting with Kuro?”
“Allura went to fly the ship and Coran had to go do some maintenance work. They’re also working out how to explain to our allies what’s going on in regards to Kuro. I volunteered to sit with him while they do all that.”
“What about the whole find out how he got aged so quickly?”
“Pidge and I worked on some things in the lab, but now we’re just waiting for the results. Not much else to do.”
“How long until you get the results?”
“It shouldn’t be too long. Pidge is keeping an eye on everything in the lab. She’ll let me know when the results are in.” Hunk suddenly got a worried look on his face. “Oh, would you mind sticking around for a few minutes? I’ve got to go to the bathroom and I don’t want Kuro to wake up alone. Well, alone except the space mice.”
“No worries, Hunk. Me and the space mice can keep Kuro company.”
The space mice all nodded in agreement.
“Thank you. I’ll be back in a few.” Hunk dashed out the door.
Lance heard a soft *groan* behind him after the door shut. He looked over and saw that Kuro was starting to stir.
Oops. Guess the door was a bit loud.
Kuro sat up on the bed and blinked the sleep from his eyes.
“Did you have a good siesta?” Lance flew closer to the cell.
“Uh, yeah. What time is it?”
“We’ve still got about half a varga till dinner.”
“Glad I didn’t sleep through that. Wait, where did Hunk go? He was here when I fell asleep.”
“He had to go use the little paladin’s room. How are you doing?”
“Besides finding out that I’m not who I thought I was? I’m doing pretty great.”
“Kuro.”
“Ok, maybe not great. Everything’s just so mixed up in my head. I don’t know what thoughts are my own and which ones are Shiro’s. Is anything I think actually my own original thought? Or are they all Shiro’s thoughts cause they have some tie in with his memories?”
Yeah, I’m not really good at philosophical things like that.
“You’ll figure it out.”
“How can I figure it out when I don’t even know who I am?”
“You are who you choose to be.”
Kuro looked over at Lance. “Are you really quoting Iron Giant at me?”
“That depends, is it helping?”
“It might be.” Kuro had a small smile on his face. “Black told me something similar.”
“See? Great minds think alike!” Lance stated.
The three space mice on the floor *squeaked* their annoyance at being left out of the conversation.
“You guys want a lift? Hop on.” Lance said as he flew the floating tray down to the ground so the rest of the space mice could join him and Chulatt on it. He then flew it back up to its normal floating height. “Now we’re all seeing eye to eye!” Lance exclaimed.
“Lance.” Kuro put his head down in his hand and tried to keep a straight face, but couldn’t stop himself from letting out a small laugh. “Ok, I’ll admit, that’s funny.” It was the first time that he had laughed since finding out the truth.
See? He thinks I’m funny.
‘Statistically, I suppose someone has to.’
Lance looked around in Kuro’s cell. He saw a small pile of books in Altean. There was also a translator.
“Are any of those stories any good?” Lance asked.
“They’re not stories. They’re baby name books. Coran thought they would help me come up with a name for myself.”
“Any luck?”
“I fell asleep between the c’s and d’s, so not yet. Also, it’s a bit hard to read books with only one hand.” Kuro reminded Lance that his prosthetic wasn’t activated.
“Oh yeah.”
“It’s still nice to look through them, though. Keeps my mind occupied.”
Lance could tell that Kuro was actively trying not to think about his current situation. He could relate to that. He also knew that when he himself was feeling like that, he really wanted a hug. But neither he nor the space mice knew the code to open the cell door to go in and hug Kuro.
As Kuro went back to reading the books, Lance and the space mice started whispering to each other a plan.
“I’m not the only one that thinks Kuro could use a hug, right?”
The four space mice nodded in agreement.
“Good. Is there any way to get in the cell through your secret tunnels?”
Plachule did some charades to show that there was a way, but only Chulatt was small enough to fit. Even Lance would be too big.
“Well, it’s better than no hug.”
Chuchule interrupted with an idea. She pointed to the food slot at the bottom of the cell door and the button on the panel that operated it.
“*gasp* You’re a genius!”
Chuchule beamed at the praise.
“We can have Chulatt push the button and meet us in there while the rest of us go through the food slot!”
Platt had a worried look on his face as he mimed the force field around the floating tray being too large to fit through the slot.
“Well, I guess we just have to land this on the ground to turn off the force field.”
Chulatt gave a comforting hug to Platt to help put his mind at ease.
“What are you guys whispering about?” Kuro asked.
“You’ll see,” Lance responded. He flew the tray over to the panel and landed it so Chulatt could get off.
Kuro seemed to figure out what Lance and the space mice were planning.
“Lance, no.”
“Lance, yes!” He exclaimed while landing the tray on the ground.
Chulatt pushed the button and soon a visible bubble formed around the tray and started drawing it towards the cell.
“Lance, stop this now.”
“No can do. It won’t stop until the tray’s in the cell.”
“Lance, I’m serious.”
“So am I.”
The bubble around the tray was now pressing against the force field of Kuro’s cell. Lance thought it looked like when you tried to push two bubbles together. There’s a wall and a bit of resistance, then suddenly you have a bigger bubble held between your hands. And just like that, they were inside the cell.
“Chulatt, push the button again to get them out of here.”
But it was too late for that as the space mouse in question had already climbed into the tunnel system. A few moments later, Chulatt squeezed their way out of a small tunnel and ran over to join the others on the tray once more. Once they were all situated, Lance pushed the button on the tray’s console to have it float again.
Kuro had a worried look on his face and moved backward slightly on the bed.
“You guys have to get out of here before you get hurt.”
“We won’t get hurt. The tray has a force field when it’s floating, remember? Though I guess you could still hit it really hard and knock us into the force field.” Lance thought out loud.
“I would never do that.”
“Exactly. We trust you.”
“You shouldn’t. If the Galra have a way to control me, they might make me hurt you. And you 5 are the most vulnerable right now.”
“Yeah, and we still trust you.”
The space mice nodded in agreement.
“We know you’re a good person. Heck, we did those mind-meld thingies together.”
“You only did the mind meld one day with me. That isn’t enough for you to put so much trust in me.”
“You don’t get to decide if I trust you or not.”
“Yes, but I get to decide whether I trust myself around you or not.”
“You said Black was talking with you?”
“Yeah…” Kuro wasn’t sure where Lance was going with this.
“That means she still trusts you as her paladin.” Lance noticed the doubt on Kuro’s face. “Trust me, when I became the Red Paladin, Blue cut me off completely. Black talking to you means you are still the Black Paladin. I trust you, Black trusts you, and the rest of the team trusts you. You just have to trust yourself.”
“That’s easier said than done when I don’t know my own mind.”
“Hmm. We just have to find something that Shiro’s never done. Then you’ll know your thoughts about it are your own. Maybe Pidge has some movies Shiro hasn’t seen?” Lance was slowly flying the tray closer to Kuro, who was starting to be more relaxed.
“That might be a start.”
“Or…” Lance landed the tray on the bed on Kuro’s right side, allowing the force field to turn off. “You could see what holding ‘Tiny Lance’ is all about. That’s something Shiro’s never done or even thought of. Any thoughts on that would be purely your own.”
Kuro looked down as he contemplated this.
Lance stepped off the tray and started walking towards Kuro. He saw that there was still a hint of hesitation on his face.
“Look, Kuro. We know you’re not about to go all ‘Winter Solider’ on us. Just like Bucky, you’re a victim, not a villain.”
Lance had reached Kuro’s right hand, which was resting palm up on the bed. He climbed up onto it without Kuro noticing.
“I trust you with my life in your hands. Literally!”
Kuro looked over and saw where Lance was.
Lance felt the hand he was in shake slightly as Kuro tensed up.
Kuro wanted to get away from Lance for fear of hurting him, but couldn’t because Lance was sitting in the palm of his hand. He was afraid to hurt him if he tried to nudge him off.
“Lance, what are you doing?”
“Proving a point.”
“What if Haggar activates my hand? If it turns on, it would fry you.”
“She can’t activate it while you’re in here. The force field blocks quintessence. And even if your hand was activated, I would still trust you. Now come on, tell me what it feels like to hold ‘Tiny Lance’!”
“Much as I want to, I can’t feel anything with that arm while it’s deactivated.”
“Oh, right.” Lance’s shoulder slumped slightly before he realized something. “I can activate your arm if you want!”
Kuro looked down at Lance in disbelief.
“Hey, I’ve been helping Hunk and Pidge out a lot in the workshop. You pick up a few things.”
“I don’t know…”
“If something goes wrong, which I doubt it will, the space mice can get a message to Allura and we can get back on the tray and get the force field up until someone comes. It’s going to be fine.”
Kuro let out a breath.
“Ok.”
“Woohoo! Platt, think you could give me a boost over here?”
Platt *Squeaked* in response and ran over to assist, the other space mice following in suit. Kuro looked down at the 5 of them as they worked.
A few minutes later, his arm started *whirring*. The feeling in his arm came back slowly while Lance and the space mice took a few steps back. He twitched his fingers. It felt good to have the use of his right arm again.
“Ready?” Lance asked as he once again approached Kuro’s hand.
“Ready as I’ll ever be.” Kuro tried to keep his hand as still as possible as Lance climbed on.
Lance felt a difference in the hand from when he had first sat in it. Before, it had felt no different from sitting on the metal counter in the workshop. Now, he could feel the energy pulsing through it.
There must be some sort of temperature-regulating thing in this. Before it was cold, now it’s warmish.
It felt different compared to everyone else’s hands. The others’ had a slight give to them when he moved, Kuro’s did not. Lance looked closer at the hand he was currently sitting in and could see his reflection staring back at him.
Lookin’ good. Glad to know that even at this height some things haven’t changed.
He also noticed there were scratches and scuff marks on the metal.
“You should see if Pidge or Hunk have some sort of polish for your hand. There’s a lot of marks on it.” Lance said up to Kuro.
“Really? I don’t see anything.”
“I can see more details from this height.” He shrugged. “Besides, you, and everyone else on the team for that matter, need to start taking better care of your skin, even the skin that’s metal.” He gestured to Kuro’s arm.
“You are the expert on skincare.”
“You know it!” Lance felt the hand shake slightly as Kuro chuckled. “So, what’s it feel like from your end?”
“It feels kind of weird. I don’t really know how to describe it.”
“Try.”
“I’m still afraid that something’s going to go wrong and you’ll get hurt.”
“That’s fair. It’s a valid fear.”
“But it’s also kind of amazing. I mean, this shouldn’t even be possible, yet here you are. Is it ok if I lift you up?”
“Yeah, just go slow.” Lance grabbed on to Kuro’s thumb as he lifted his hand up in front of his face. When the hand came to a stop, Lance could see the wonder in Kuro’s eyes.
“I just can’t believe how small you are.” Kuro brought his other hand closer to Lance and softly poked him, making sure not to push him backward.
“No duh,” Lance responded with a smile and a roll of his eyes as he gently pushed Kuro’s finger away.
Yeah, still not a fan of being poked, but hey, at least he was gentle about it.
“Sorry. That’s a pretty obvious statement.”
“Hey, you’re allowed to bask in the wonder that is me.” That got another laugh out of Kuro. Lance had to grab on to his thumb again to keep his balance. He looked down and saw that the space mice had climbed into Kuro’s lap.
“I’m glad that with all that’s happened to you, you still have your sense of humor. Shiro always appreciated it.”
“He did?”
He never said anything.
‘Kuro’s probably just lying to make you feel better.’
“*Mhmm*” Kuro hummed in agreement with what he said.
Before they could continue the conversation, they heard the door to the cell room open.
“Hey, Hunk. Would it be ok if I talk with Kuro alone? Wait, where’s Hunk?” Keith said as he walked into view and saw the empty chair in front of Kuro’s cell.
“He had to take a bathroom break,” Kuro answered as he put the hand holding Lance down on his lap.
“But he wasn’t supposed to leave you alone.”
“He’s not alone. Me and the space mice are here.” Lance waved at Keith who had a surprised look on his face.
“How did you get it the cell?”
“Easy. Food tray slot. Kuro needed some comfort, so we comforted him.”
“Huh.”
“Yeah, but if you want to talk with Kuro alone, we can leave.” Lance gestured to himself and the space mice.
“You can stay, if you want,” Keith responded quickly before pausing a moment. “Can the space mice keep a secret?”
“For the right price. I’ll give each of you a treat if you keep whatever Keith and Kuro say to yourselves.”
The space mice nodded and *Squeaked* in agreement to the deal.
“I’ll need your help getting the treats after this, Keith. I don’t think I can open my dresser drawer on my own.”
“You have mouse treats in your dresser drawer?” Kuro asked.
“Well I can’t exactly leave them out on the dresser, can I? Then the mice would just take them whenever they wanted.”
“Makes sense,” Keith responded.
Lance felt the hand under him shake as Kuro snickered a bit at the space mice’s looks of mock offense. He tried and failed to disguise it as a cough.
“Sorry. So, you wanted to talk to me, Keith?”
“Yeah. I wanted to apologize for my reaction to you being you, no, um, to you not being Shiro, uh…” Keith struggled to find the right way to say what he meant.
“You don’t have to apologize. This wasn’t your fault.” Kuro said before being interrupted by Keith.
“I know, but I still feel guilty. Shiro’s always been there for me, rescuing him, er, you, felt like I was finally able to be there for him. I know you didn’t mean to trick any of us. I know you were tricked too. I still feel like I should have realized you weren’t him. It makes me feel guilty for what he’s going through with the Galra. I know it’s not your fault and I know it’s not my fault, but it doesn’t stop the guilt. He’s like the brother I never had. I can’t help but feel like I’ve let him down.”
“You could never let him down. You’re like a brother to him, too.”
“How do you know that?” Keith asked Kuro.
“I have all of his memories in my brain. I know a lot about him, whether I want to or not.”
“Right. Sorry.”
“Don’t be. He’s a great guy. I can see why he makes a good leader. You deserve to have the real Shiro here. If I could swap places with him, I would.”
“Don’t say that. You’re innocent in all this. You don’t deserve to be a Galra prisoner either.”
“Thanks, Keith.”
“Wait, if you have all of Shiro’s memories, does that mean you know all of his embarrassing stories?” Lance asked.
“Yes, none of which are your business.”
“Come on! This is the only chance any of us have of learning embarrassing stories about Shiro. We’re all sworn to secrecy in here.”
“I’m not telling. They’re not my stories.”
“Back me up here, Keith.”
“Nope. Kuro’s right. They’re not his stories to tell. Shiro already swore me to secrecy about the one I know.”
“You actually know one?”
“I was there when it happened.”
“Seriously? And you won’t even tell your best friend?”
“You’re not my best friend.”
‘Hear that? You’re not his friend.’
No, he just said he’s not my best friend. And that’s true. Hunk’s my best friend.
“Fine, you won’t even tell your roommate?”
“No.”
“But I want to know.”
“Get used to disappointment,” Kuro said with a smile.
“Ok, that’s not even fair. I can’t be mad at you when you use Princess Bride quotes. That movie’s a classic.”
“You’re right about that.” Keith agreed.
Suddenly the door opened and Hunk came running in.
“Sorry it took so long. I ran into Pidge on the way back. Oh, hi Keith. When did you get here?”
“Not too long ago.”
“Where's Lance and the space mice?”
“In here.”
“How did-“
“Food tray slot.”
“Huh. Smart. Good to see you’re awake, Kuro. Are you feeling better?”
“Yeah, these guys have been a big help.” Lance and the space mice beamed at the praise.
“I don’t doubt that.” Hunk commented.
“Wait, did Pidge say anything about the test results?” Lance asked.
“Yes. There’s nothing that would give Haggar or anyone else control over you, Kuro. At least nothing physically speaking. We also think we figured out how they were able to age you so quickly: quintessence. Lots of it. Pidge is working on an upgrade for your arm that will stop it from being affected by surges of quintessence, so even if someone gets control of your mind, they won’t get control of your hand.”
“Smart thinking,” Keith commented.
“But there’s still a way that Haggar could try to control me?”
“Yes, but we talked with Allura and she thinks she might be able to help train your mind to resist any attempts at control.”
“How long is that going to take?”
“Maybe a week or two? This means she’s not going to be able to focus solely on researching a cure for you, Lance. I’m sorry.”
‘See? Allura’s finally working on something worthwhile. Someone worthwhile.’
Hey, I’m worth it!
‘Allura’s given up on your hopeless case, though you were hopeless even before you were shrunk.’
“No worries, I get it, Hunk.”
‘They need to focus on the people who actually contribute to the team.’
Yeah. Kuro’s more important than me right now.
‘Kuro’s more important than you’ll ever be.’
“We got to make sure Kuro’s doing good.”
“About that-“ Kuro began before being interrupted by Hunk.
“What about that? Are you hurt?”
“No, I’m not hurt. I was going to say ‘about that name.’ I think I’ve figured out what I’d like to be called. Ryo.”
“Ryo. I like it.” Keith commented.
“Rio? Rio like Rio de Janeiro?” Lance questioned.
“No, they’re pronounced the same, but the name is spelled with a y instead of an i.”
“Oh, ok.”
“Does it mean something?” Hunk asked.
“Yes, it means goodness. And I want to be good.”
“That’s good. Pidge should have that upgrade done in the next few minutes. Once she gets that downloaded into your arm, we can all go get some dinner.”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“And then everyone else can learn your name, Ryo.”

The Grudge Critique
Continuing “the definitive nitpick post” critiques from Voltron Legendary Defender Season 8 -
Episode begins with a talk about pets that doesn’t include Cosmo, and I guess it’s supposed to make us like the Atlas crew...? All it did was remind the audience that Lotor killed his disabled general. In fact, Acxa even makes a point of telling us Narti couldn’t see without Kova.
Curtis speaks during this scene, and I would say his inclusion was to get the viewers acquainted with Shiro’s would-be hubby. (And despite my shipping preferences, I will say - the guy is adorable.) However, we learn nothing about Curtis’ history in this scene. Heck, I know what event made Iverson’s shoulder click! Give me something about Curtis!
Shiro calls the team to the bridge to take a message from the paladins. He couldn’t have done that himself? Plus, Coran was also on the bridge with him, and Coran is the only other person who speaks to the paladins. Ergo, there was no reason for Shiro to pull the bridge crew away from their workout routine.
Huh. Keith’s hair really grew here, and he’s super extra pretty.
Coran brings up Honerva not having the Mark of the Chosen. Does she? Or did Kuron? That was never explained. (Makes so much more sense if Honerva had piggy-backed on Allura or Lotor’s worthiness to get into Oriande, but VLD never cared about making sense past Season 2, as we know.)
“We need to rendezvous to come up with a plan.” - Oh, sure. Now you need the Atlas after Olkarion was destroyed for no reason, but I went in to that last critique. But I thought Voltron didn’t need the Atlas or Shiro.
Acxa talks about scaultrite, but when did Lotor actually use it? I’m assuming the gate, but it’s funny how Acxa won’t discuss the particulars. Why? Cuz she doesn’t know them. Neither do the viewers or the EPs, it seems.
“It would appear the mood at the table has become rather awkward. Most likely due to your Galra heritage.” No. The pilots’ reactions make the mood awkward, not the fact of Acxa’s heritage.
Shiro is alone again - on the bridge - and a communication came in from the paladins. How was he able to take it himself since the opening scene of the episode established he can’t? He literally has to call the bridge crew. Also, I’m pretty sure that’s JDS’ Shiro above.
Hm. Black is between Yellow and Blue. That’s a unique line-up. It might not mean anything, but I just thought it was interesting.
The beam holds down the lions but not the paladins? They can move freely? And thanks for pointing out the obvious redo in the plotting, Hunk.
Allura uses “whom!” Yay! I love when the paladins’ use whom!
During the fleeing scene, we lost Keith. He doesn’t speak. Lance gives all the orders, and we don’t see Keith again until after Pidge disarmed the drone (which looks a lot like the Dark Elves’ ships in Thor: The Dark World).
Hunk’s bayard shifts in the same blue as Keith does in Season 8.
Keith has a bayard that can shift, but instead of shooting the drone, he chucks his sword. Lance said he was about to do the same, yet Lance has never used in sword in battle. And Keith should have used his gun for the long-range attack, but...who cares about making sense? All together now, “Not Voltron.”
I’ve done this before, but Keith as Keith -
Kuron as Keith -
Lance as Keith -
Also, here’s a post about how Allura is posed like Lance. And though Hunk is slouched, Keith looks taller than him in this shot. And there is only one paladin taller than Hunk. (Hint: It’s not Keith.)
“Anyone read about the atmosphere?” Yes, Pidge did. Hunk responded it the comment, and it was on Keith’s screen. So writers, no need to ask if “anyone” read about the atmosphere because everyone did. And if you were just reminding us, the line should have been, “Hey, remember the atmosphere issues?” (I said this was a nitpick post.)
...yawn. Sorry. Dozed off there during the Veronica-Acxa scene. I want to like these characters, but I just feel that the Altas crew moments showcase characters from a different show.
Excuse me for one moment as I freak out -
Allura can’t find the lions on the planet?! Are you freakin’ kidding me? She could find the lions across the universe in the Very First Episode. She reached out to find Black in “The Black Paladins,” and the only justification for her not being able to find the lion was because it was “out of range.” Now - in the last season - Allura can’t find the lions. COME ON, WRITERS! GET IT TOGETHER!
...alright. I’m not back, but I’ll continue on...
Keith is leading the pirates away in his suit, and the paladins look like they are just talking a leisurely stroll through the park.
Lance knows where the lions are. Okay, this is officially the Lance Episode, and it should have been more called out. He was really great here.
Veronica says, “Lance? Right. The navigational genius.” I guess that’s supposed to be funny since Lance did locate the lions, but it just shows how little Veronica knows her brother now. And that’s - again - sad.
Distress signals - and now Shiro and the Atlas Crew have to come to the rescue. “Voltron is stronger than ever,” my ass, Keith.
“You think I forgot about you, Tiny Paladin? I’ll make you pay for what you did to me!” ...dude, I don’t even remember. Oh, thanks for the line about her brother, Bounty Hunter. I did need the refresher. What were you going after Matt for again? Oh, right. We never found out.
Allura needs to stop for a breather. Really? Allura? She’s an amazing fighter and totally in shape. But sure. Make her take the breather.
And look - Atlas to the rescue - cuz Voltron is so strong, it doesn’t need its former head.
Keith has his blade again. Hm. Did Krolia give it back to him? Think I missed that. (I didn’t.)
Keith went off alone - and his suit didn’t even lure the entire pirate crew, so there was literally no reason for him to go off alone. Great teamwork and found family, Writers. You’re really knocking it out of the park in this episode.
Oh, look. Shiro has a gun and doesn’t use it.
I’m going to skip over the Ezor-Zethird-Acxa discussion. It made no sense in the context of the story, but since it was altered to bring Ezor back, I’m not going to critique that. It was necessary.
The visually impaired version says Zethrid pointed the gun at Shiro, but I didn’t see that at all. I really thought that Zethrid pointed it at Acxa, and y’know - Shiro doesn’t speak at all in this part. Neither does Keith after the team arrives. Reminds me of “Lions’ Pride Part One” where Shiro says nothing to Sendak.
How did Veronica hit Zethrid in that shoulder? She’s positioned on the opposite side of Zethrid, so none of the MFE pilots had a shot - but Veronica did...shooting Zethrid in the arm she’s holding Keith with - not the arm in which she held the gun. The far arm.
...wait. Where is the gun? Never mind.
Oh, and when Ezor comes back, she’s still in pirate uniform. So I guess she’s still a pirate? Guess she didn’t let the rage go far.

THE DND EPISODE WAS SO IMPORTANT FOR SHIRO/ KURON THAN WE THINK AND HERE’S WHY
IT SHOWED KURON WAS FUCKING HUMAN BEING, THAT IT WASN’T AN ACT, AND THAT HE IS STILL SHIRO, HIMSELF, DESPITE IT ALL. HE WANTED TO SPEND HIS TIME OFF WITH THE TEAM, HE WAS ALREADY PLAYING WITH CORAN PIDGE AND HUNK BEFORE ALLURA AND LANCE DECIDED TO JOIN THEM. (Fun side note: Haggar probably watched the whole DnD session through Kuron)
(WARNING LONG POST, MORE SERIOUS META BELOW THE CUT IN REGARDS TO KURON AND SHIRO ARE SEPARATE CHARACTERS)
Let’s begin, excuse the caps, I am very passionate. It’s start with how the DnD game shows off how Kuron is a well rounded human being and an extension of Shiro’s personality, rather than an act
yes you did Shiro, you died in real life too sorry buddy
KURON HAD A BLAST MAKING HIS OWN CHARACTER FOR THIS GAME, HIS CHARACTER WAS LITERALLY A SELF INSERT WITH HIS REAL NAME TAKASHI SHIROGANE AND HE CHOSE TO BE A PALADIN
HE PLAYS AS SOMENE WITH VALUES HE TRULY BELIEVES, HE LOVES BEING HIMSELF AND A PALADIN AND DIDN’T WANT TO CHANGE IT FOR A MOMENT, HE CHOSE IT EVERY TIME, HE HAS NO PROBLEM WITH WHO AND WHAT HE IS
THERE’S NOTHING ELSE IN THE WORLD HE’D RATHER BE JUST HIMSELF
KURON/SHIRO TRULY SEES HIMSELF AS A SHIELD AND WANTS TO PROTECT OTHERS, WHILE ALSO GETTING A CHANCE TO RELAX AND SHOW JUST HOW DORKY HE IS
LOVES HIS TEAM AND SPENDING TIME LIKE THIS WITH THEM, THIS IS PROBABLY THE LONGEST TIME HE’S SPENT WITH THEM JUST DOING SOMETHING FUN, DND TAKES H O U R S
HE WANTS TO KEEP DOING STUFF LIKE THIS WITH THE PALADINS HE HAD SUCH A GREAT TIME, PROBABLY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN A VERY LONG TIME
AND THE TEAM LOVE HIM SO MUCH, SO MUCH THEY PLAY GAMES WITH HIM AND HAVE SO MUCH FUN, CORAN EVEN SUGGESTS HOW TO CONTINUE THE CAMPAIGN AFTER SEEING HOW EVERYONE, ESPECIALLY SHIRO LOVED IT SO MUCH
I THINK MORE OF THE SHIRO WITHIN KURON CAME OUT WHILE HE WAS UNDER HAGGAR’S CONTROL, HE MAY BE A CLONE BUT HE IS STILL SHIRO AND A HUMAN BEING
THE REGRET IN HIS EYES THE MOMENT KEITH FINALLY BROKE THROUGH, FOLLOWED QUICKLY BY ANGER AND FRUSTRATION BECAUSE HE’S STILL FIGHTING UNDER HAGGER’S CONTROL
SHIRO/KURON’S VOICE WAVERED AND BROKE WHEN HE TOLD KEITH TO STOP FIGHTING THAT IT DIDN’T MATTER ANYMORE BECAUSE THE OTHERS WERE DEAD BECAUSE OF HIM, HE HONESTLY SOUNDED SO BROKEN BENEATH THE ANGER, YOU CAN’T TELL ME HE WASN’T FILLED WITH SO MUCH GUILT AND REGRET FOR WHAT HE’D DONE
IT WAS AS IF HE WAS TRYING TO SAY TO KEITH “WHAT WAS THE POINT FOR US TO KEEP GOING ON IF EVERYONE ELSE, OUR FAMILY, WAS DEAD BECAUSE I FAILED TO PROTECT THEM AND COULDN’T FIGHT BACK HAGGAR’S CONTROL”
AND THEN WHEN HE FINALLY BROKE THROUGH AND REALITY CAME CRASHING BACK TO WHAT HE’S DONE HE KNEW EXACTLY WHAT HE’D DONE, HE LOOKS AT KEITH WITH SO MUCH REGRET
Taking a step back for a moment, I have to wonder how Haggar was able to make a spitting replica of Shiro, INCLUDING HIS MEMORIES, Kuron IS Shiro by all accounts, I believe the DnD episode was supposed to prove he had humanity and essentially the soul of Shiro. What I’m thinking is Haggar’s control exploited parts of Shiro’s own personality, negative parts he keeps DEEP AND HIDDEN AWAY FOR NO ONE TO SEE, because he needs to be a shield and protector for the paladins, his family
The Paladins were the ones on Kuron’s mind while he was dying because he loves them with all his heart, they are his found family and gave him a reason to smile again when he was so close to death, he traveled across the universe to find them again
Shiro has always been a fighter, he’s fought against the odds and just wants to be free and protect those he loves, but don’t you think after so much pain and suffering, Shiro never had doubts? What if he couldn’t do it? What if he was really going to die no matter what he did? What if the pain never stopped?
This may have been Shiro’s exeriences, but Kuron had them as well. I believe this is what Haggar exploited, those doubts, which made it so difficult for Kuron to break free, until Keith told him he loved him
Keith did not treat Kuron like a monster
It was still painful for him to see a version of Shiro like this and being forced to fight him. He still saw Shiro in him, even though he knew while he was fighting him he was a clone, they were surrounded by other clones, it’s not hard to miss
Keith kept holding on even as they fell
Keith still wanted to save him, because he knew Kuron is Shiro and was worth saving, that he is still a human being with emotions and feelings and memories after everything they had gone through
He wasn’t going to give up on him on the one person who never gave up on him
If Kuron was not Shiro and just a pawn, he would not have hesitated when Keith told him he loves him
Another important thing to remember: the Black Lion and Shiro (since his soul is currently with her) rejected Kuron because they knew he was a fake
That is until the lives of the Paladins and the rebels/refugees were in danger, the moment Kuron begged the Black Lion to trust him again
Black and Shiro KNEW Kuron was still Shiro and not just a pawn and took that chance to trust him, the Black Lion did not reject him again because they knew they might still be able to have a chance with him
Kuron is Shiro, he has always been Shiro, Kuron loves the team and they love him because to them he was no different than Shiro, even Shiro and the Black Lion took that chance to trust him
And even though the real Shiro is back, it still felt like we lost a part of Shiro, Kuron could not survive without Haggar, it would seem, but I would like to think when Shiro woke up, he is in a way a combination of Kuron and Shiro since he’d likely have those memories Kuron experienced
The Shiro who woke up could be both Shiro and Kuron because of their combined memories
Shiro would remember both of their lives since the moment his physical body died, to the moment Kuron first awoke and “escaped” the galra up to the present. Even though Shiro actively did not experience Kuron’s memories, Shiro would still treat them as his own memories because Kuron behaved just as he would have because they are the same person when it comes down to it. Shiro will have a connection to these memories, almost like it was all a dream while at the same time it was like he still experienced it himself. I also believe Shiro, more than anyone, would understand Kuron was a victim just as much as him, along with all the other Shiro clones that were created and are now destroyed.
I think Shiro would mourn that in a way Kuron is “gone”
Kuron, the one who played DnD with the team and truly felt like there was no need to be anyone else but himself even if they were playing pretend, Kuron, who had done the whole Shiro the Hero persona during the Voltron Show, Kuron, who was so happy to see Matt was alive and hugged him when Matt had tried to go for a handshake, Kuron, who joked with Sam about wanting to punch Iverson for him for strapping him to a table when he returned to Earth, and more painfully, Kuron’s escape and journey across space alone. Shiro would not be aware of Kuron’s memories of the escape until his mind and spirit were transferred into Kuron’s body. It wasn’t until then that Shiro would feel the fear and pain Kuron felt in his final thoughts, thinking he’d die never finding the paladins, their found family, until Keith and the Black Lion finally found him.
It also brings up the matter, why did the Black Lion/Shiro decide to find Kuron while he was on the brink of death? That’s because it wasn’t until Kuron was so close to death and the only thing he could think of were the Paladins that his quintessence truly matched Shiro’s. There was also likely the matter that the Black Lion knew Shiro needed a body if he was ever going to return, they just needed to wait for the right time which was when Allura would gain the ability to be able to transfer Shiro’s life to Kuron. It wasn’t until Kuron had proven himself that Shiro and the Black Lion realized Kuron was a human being and not just Haggar’s puppet and spy.
In conclusion, Shiro and Kuron are opposite sides of the same coin
Shiro and Kuron’s arc was amazing and breathtaking since episodes like the DnD one made you actually CARE about Kuron because we truly got to see into his and Shiro’s personalty, that yes, they’re both firm leaders who have to make difficult decision, but they also know when to take a break and have some fun, like Kuron with DnD or Shiro when he was having a goo fight in space with the paladins before they found Olkaron.
Though, I wished that for a moment before Shiro woke up that Shiro and Kuron shared a moment together on the astral plane and had a “You’re me and I’m you” moment before merging together to wake up as someone who is both Shiro and Kuron and anyone who is happy Kuron is gone and hating him for 3 fucking seasons should be ashamed, Kuron was still a person and he had tried to resist Haggar several times
Kuron was a living human BEING. HE IS SHIRO.

Fill my heart with song and let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for All I worship and adore In other words, please be true In other words, I love you
-By Bart Howard, performed by Frank Sinatra
This is like 4 days late cuz the power went out while I was doing this and it stayed off for days lmao thanks pg&e anyway
I followed VLD since 2016 and am veeery fond of sheith. As a form of self-care, I decided to completely disregard the existence of season 8 and I daydreamed a sappy, romantic ending I would’ve liked to see and am accepting as canon. GAY RIGHTS.
In a nutshell, Shiro and Keith get together and live on Earth. But you can’t tie down a space exploring power couple to one planet, so they go off with the Blade of Marmora. In this picture, they’re dancing to Fly Me to the Moon, celebrating their (kind-of) elopement and new life together.
I wrote a rough outline and bolded the main points. It’s long, so if you want to read it, buckle up and hit that Keep Reading!
Picking up from what little I remember of season 7 cuz I watched it the day it aired in 2018:
After the big battle with the Galra, everyone is chillin. Shiro is officially captain of the Atlas and Keith is like hell yeah I’m the Black Paladin! Idk whatever stuff they did to conclude the fight with the Galra, but I guess they did that.
Idk why they killed Allura, but that doesn’t fuckin happen. Everyone is happy!
They eventually settle into their new roles on Earth with Pidge/Katie working as a head of the tech department with the Holts. Hunk and Lance handle diplomatic/relief affairs. Allura becomes the queen of the Alteans they found with Coran and Romelle as her advisory. The mice are there too.
As admiral, Shiro gets a cool fancy house. So they throw a house party and the gang and some of the cool Earth/Galran/Altean people are invited too. It’s a great party 10/10 and 3 hours in, Lance gets wasted cuz Allura drinks him under the table. Hunk is getting some water while Pidge/Katie is taking blackmail pictures. Coran is still partying with the mice and Romelle.
Keith and his introvertedness has his social battery run out at this point, so he finds a porch to sigh upon. It takes Shiro exactly five minutes to notice that Keith isn’t coming back yet, so he seeks him out in the big fancy house.
Shiro finds Keith sighing on the porch or smth and jokes about this being their easiest time finding each other and Keith smiles at this. Shiro has a beer or smth and Keith asks to try it to break the ice. Shiro teases him about being old enough to drink. Then he’s like uh yeah remember the time I was stuck on a meteor for 2 years with my mom?? Fair point. Shiro lets him try it and Keith spits it out cuz it’s nasty even though bruh probably drank swamp water. They laugh and banter about that too.
The mood settles and then Shiro asks about those two years. And about their lost time. Keith asks if he took any of Kuron’s memories since he’s got a clone body now.
He does. He remembers it, but Kuron’s memories feel like it’s him, but he’s taken a backseat and is watching himself do things instead of doing them himself. Then Keith asks him if he remembers what he said when they fought. “You said you love me,” Shiro speaks softly as he turns back to face Keith. “Is that still true?”
Finally they talk about their feelings. Like a well-developed couple should. Keith does still love him and says that he always will. Shiro also admits his feelings too. Thought he was fam. Turns out he was bae. They almost kiss, but the Voltron gang interrupts because that’s how it be.
The two awkwardly get dragged back into the party and Lance is recovering okay. Also, he’s been offical with Allura at this point too. Lance teases them about being a couple and Shiro and Keith are internally screaming.
The party dies down and everyone starts to go home. The Voltron gang is the only few left and they help Shiro clean up. Lance gets benched cuz he’s still recovering. As they clean up, Shiro begins to notice how large and lonely the house is gonna get. He catches Keith before everyone leaves and slips him a key and says he’s always welcome just in case he gets lonely. Or something.... There’s some Shiro head scratching and Keith knows what’s up.
Everyone leaves. Shiro is alone. He tries to get some rest, but the house is too gotdamn big and unfamiliar. Being alone in a large space is not good for a guy with PTSD. He works out. He investigates his house, etc. Bro still can’t sleep.
Afterwards, he just gives up and sits at his kitchen going like :( at a glass of water. Then the doorbell rings. Who is it? DING DING, It’s Keith! With a duffel bag! Turns out he couldn’t sleep either. Shiro invites him to join him in the kitchen with his :( water and they talk a bit.
Then they pick up where they left off at the party and finally kiss. One of them asks if the kiss was okay, and the other is like HELL YEAH and so they keep going. It’s really spicy. One thing leads to another and then they go upstairs to Shiro’s large bed. (I’ll leave that to your imagination.)
Either way, morning comes and Shiro wakes up with Keith in his arm(s). (HELL YEAH) Guess they got REAL official. He asks about the duffel bag. It’s literally everything Keith owns. So like. 3 outfits. And some weapons. Hygeine products. Etc. (Dude is a minimalist.) Kosmo is in the living room or smth. Bottom(lmao) line is, Keith planned on taking Shiro up on his offer the whole time. He literally just left to pack lmao (HELL YEAH) Shiro gives him his own closet and drawers since the room is big. Guess they live together now yeehaw.
Eventually, everyone finds out they’re official and is like FINALLY and so they continue their lives on Earth with Shiro as admiral and Keith as captain. They sort out the war damage for a year-ish or so and then do whatever leaders do in peace time. Probably train their people idk. Shiro is up to his neck in papers. He’s not really digging it. He enjoys his peaceful life on Earth, but he often thinks about what it would be like exploring the galaxy now that the Galra aren’t a threat.
Allura and Lance get married. Lance still gets those blue marks but idk why. Why not lmao. It’s a big wedding and Lance throws the boquet. Keith catches it. He looks to Shiro and DING DING, the lightbulb goes off. The Altean Queen and King have many babies and they all have the marks too. Happy family. Goofy dad. Badass mum. Gotta rule the new Alteans too. That’s all good. They either live in space or get their own land cuz racism doesn’t exist on this earth. Cuz I said so. Either way, Lance and Allura visit the others often with their kids. Hunk and Pidge are GREAT with kids.
The Blade of Marmora calls. Krolia is like hey wus poppin’ son. Keith tells her he and Shiro are a couple and she’s like oh finally thank god. That guy was the only thing he’d talk about for the two years and like honestly it’d be awkward if they didn’t get together. But also, the Blade of Marmora needs Keith. For a while. Like, at year at least. He has a few days to decide to go with them. Keith’s torn between his people on Earth or his people in Marmora.
Shiro tells him it’s okay to go. But before that, he kneels on one knee and presents Keith with a ring. An engagement ring!!!! It’s specially designed by Pidge with a one-channel track that won’t get in the way of any signals or whatever, but they can find each other, no matter where in the galaxy each is. (Since that’s been a recurring problem throughout the series.)
Keith goes. Keith Galra Facetimes whenever he can. Weeks pass. Months pass. Seasons fly. Shiro terribly misses his fiancé. Nothing goes terribly wrong since this is the endgame, but Keith is away for a looong time. More than a year. He misses Shiro terribly, but he knows his duty is to the Blade of Marmora, which has become a relief effort and guardians of the galaxy. No talking trees or raccoons, unfortunately.
Eventually, Keith makes his way back to earth. Krolia, Kolivan, Axca, and the other Blades are with him. Krolia has a mother-son moment with him and asks him what he truly wants. Keith wants Shiro, but he also wants the life with the Blade of Marmora. It’s way better than on Earth, (no offense.) Then Krolia asks, “Why not take your man with us? His skill is going to waste at that desk.” And Kolivan is like “Shiro is a man of honor. He will always have a place with us if he so desires.” And Keith is like :0
He tells Shiro to come with him and Shiro’s like :O But he’s got papers! And Duties! And... the ability to train a successor to be Admiral! He gets on it. But low-key. Cuz he doesn’t want everyone to freak out. Like All Might and Deku, but not as life-threatening a situation and no consumption of hair. It’s probably that guy who thought Keith was his rival. Jack? Jacob? James! Or someone else idk. Who’s Curtis? We can sprinkle him in, I guess. Not sure if Hunk would want to be admiral. But either way, Shiro steps down from his position and gives it to someone very capable.
Then the Blades are back on Earth. Keith leaps into Shiro’s arm(s) all dramatically and gay as God intended. Shiro and Keith get married!!!! Everyone is there and it’s such a happy day like wowie.
After the wedding/goodbye party and preparations, the newlyweds announce their leave into space. And they fly off! Shiro is part of the Blade of Marmora. They’re a happy family and visit Earth and Altea whenever they can. Everyone still gets together every year for Christmas or something.
The last scene is the space ship leaving earth with Frank Sinatra’s “Fly Me to the Moon” playing. The planets and space stuff fade further in the background. They’re in a field of stars. It cuts to Keith in his uniform holding Shiro, who’s in his earthly clothing and kissing his husband’s hand. A golden ring shines on each of their fingers and they continue to dance. Gosh, they’re so happy and in love. The two never lose each other again.
THE END!!!
