Day 21: Body horror

"You guyssss.... come on! It was a tie!" 

Leo had lost the bet of who could play a Hatsune Miku rhythm game better with Donnie. The punishment? The loser had to go grab the other anything they wanted from the convenience store. "No, it was not. I won fair and square, Nardo." Leo groans and drags his feet on the ground as he walks. "Of course you did... because you're such a nerd when it comes to Hatsune Miku...."

Donnie scoffs offensively. "EXCUSE YOU. HATSUNE MIKU IS AMAZING." Leo gets to the entrance to the lair, but he turns around to talk to Donnie more. "I never said she wasn't! I just said you were a NERD!!" Donnie's eye starts to twitch, and Raph has to restrain him from attacking Leo. Leo sticks his tongue out and skips away.

As Leo walks along the streets of New York, he smells the air. Of course, the smell isn't exactly amazing, but Leo hasn't smelled any air besides this one. As Leo walks by a certain alleyway, he hears some voices talking together. "Where do you think we could get a host?" "Well, I don't know. Why are you asking me?" 

Leo was admittedly a bit curious. I mean, how could he not be? "What's all this about a host?" The two people in the alley instantly turn around. They both seem to be wearing some weird white cloak that covers their entire body. Not even their face is visible, as the hood of the cloak casts a shadow over their entire face. One of them speaks up, "You are not permitted to be here. Leave. Or else you will suffer more than you ever have or ever imagined." 

Leo cringes at the whole "evil" talk. "Look, I'm not here to stop you from doing whatever it is you're doing; I'm just curious as to what it is." The two people look at each other and nod before speaking again. "Oh, believe me, you will have most certainly wished you had tried to stop us." "What do you mean by th-" Leo doesn't even get to finish his sentence before an extremely sharp pain enters his skull and he falls to the ground. As his eyes close, he sees three people circle around him. Damnit. He didn't notice there was a third one...

When he wakes up, his ears are ringing and his head feels like it's on fire. He's also tied up, and there's a whole bunch of those guys in the weird cloaks standing in front of a portal or something..? Leo's vision is pretty blurry, but that's what it looks like to him. One of the people looks at him, and once they see he's awake, they point him out to the others.

Three of the people come up to him and pick him up, carrying him towards the portal. Leo tries to struggle against their hold, but he's so weak it doesn't do anything. They take him up to the portal and genuinely chuck him in. Leo looks behind him and is not exactly happy when he sees the portal close behind him. Well, thats just fabulous. 

"Hmm...are you the host they brought me?" Leo freezes as he hears a deep voice almost directly in front of him. He turns his head to look at who spoke and almost falls back in surprise. Standing in front of him is a strange, shadowy figure. The figure seems to be...melting? It seems like its flesh is dripping onto the floor. Thank goodness its just fully black. If it was actually skin colored, that would certainly be a sight to see...

"The...the what?" The figure seems to disappear into the floor and then reappear right next to Leo. Some drips fall off of it and onto Leo, which causes him to shiver. "The host." Its voice right next to Leo's ear sends shivers down his spine. "As you can probably see, my form isn't doing to well...so, I requested they find me a host." Leo freezes as he realizes just what that means. "A-Are you a..." The figure chuckles. "A demon? Oh yes."

The figure disappears again and shows up right in front of Leo this time. "You may call me Anomaly." Anomaly bows. "It is not my true name, but I do not think you would be able to understand the true one." Leo shivers again. "What is your true name...?" Anomaly scoffs and straightens himself. "I suppose I can tell you." But much to Leo's surprise, instead of an actual name, he just hears Anomaly say random noises. 

Anomaly notices Leo's confusion and scoffs again. "Of course you can't understand it." Leo takes a few steps back but gets very easily tripped by a weird vine that comes out of the ground. When Leo looks down to see what it was, it looks like how Anomaly looks. Completely black and dripping. Anomaly starts walking towards Leo. "Oh no, no, no." Anomaly chuckles to himself. "I do not think you understand. You are mine now. Mine to posses." 

Leo's eyes widen and Anomaly chuckles again. "It's nothing against you, child. I simply need a body, and you were the first one that they captured." Before Leo can say anything, Anomaly touches him and starts going into Leo's skin. Leo screams, and he continues to scream until his screams slow and eventually stop. 

Leo stands up and starts pressing against the ropes holding him. They eventually break, and he stares at his hands. He chuckles and speaks in a strange voice that sounds like two people at once. "Ah yes... this body will be perfect...." Leo Anomaly turns around and swipes his hand in the air. Instantly, a portal forms back to the place with all the people in the white robes.

As he walks through, all the people bow down before him. "Have we chosen a suitable body for you?" Anomaly flexes his fingers a few times before looking at them and smiling a smile that most definitely didn't look natural. "Yes. You've chosen quite a nice one..."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DONT KNOW WHERE LEO IS?!" April screams at Donnie. April had come over after Leo had left and was greeted by the wonderful idea that Leo is missing. "He's gone! I don't know!" Mikey walks up behind Donnie and looks at Donnie's tech gauntlet which has all their trackers. Sure enough, Leo's is not on the screen. 

Splinter sleepily walks into the room. "What on earth are you all talking about?? I was just trying to sleep, and then I was woken up by your noise!" Raph looks at Splinter with a worried expression on his face. "Pops! Leo's missing!" Splinter rubs his eyes and yawns. "Yes, yes, very ni-" Splinter pauses and finally registers what Raph said. "BLUE IS MISSING?!"

Raph nods, and suddenly, all of their communicators go off. They crackle on, and a strange voice exits them. "I want you all to find them now. Do you understand me? I will NOT be waiting any longer for you idiotic swine to find the rest of them." "W-Well, master, you must forgive us, but we can't just find the rest of the Hamato's instantly..." "You found this one for me, didn't you? You should know where the rest of them are." "Ah, well, this one was just wandering around the surface." "Oh, of course he was...well, you'd better find them soon, or else I will not be very pleased." "Yes master."

They hear someone walk away and someone scoff. "They're all such fools...at least they're all expendable..." Mikey whispers something to himself, but the person on the other side of the communicator hears him. "Hm? Hello? I didn't know this thing was on..." Raph speaks up this time. "Hello? Who are you exactly? How do you have one of our communicators?" The person pauses. "Ah...you must be the Hamato family..."

The person chuckles to themselves before Leo's voice comes through the communicators. "Sorry guys, I got lost on the way home. But how exactly do I find you guys again?" Mikey, being the gullible guy he is, instantly starts basically reciting how to get to the lair. Donnie shuts him up really quickly. Donnie speaks into his communicator. "You're not Leo, are you?" The person on the other side huffs before they go back to their original voice. Which now that they're hearing it more, it sounds a lot like Leo's voice combined with a much deeper voice. "Oh no, boo hoo, you got me. But my question still stands."

Donnie rolls his eyes and looks at Raph, basically asking with his look if they should continue the conversation. Raph nods and speaks into his communicator. "But we have a question for you. Why do you sound like Leo, and how do you know his name?" The person on the other side of the communicator talks to someone else in the room before talking into the communicator again. "Oh, I know him very very well; don't worry." 

Donnie looks at Raph again, and Raph nods again. So Donnie turns off the communicator. April looks at Raph and Donnie. "I will never understand how you guys know exactly what the other is thinking..." Mikey jumps onto Raph's back. "Who was that, do you think?" Donnie shrugs. "I don't know Mikey...but he certainly didn't seem friendly..." April talks from behind them. "ARE WE JUST GOING TO IGNORE THE FACT THAT HE SOUNDED LIKE LEO? LIKE, EXACTLY? YEAH? OKAY, I GUESS." 

Splinter nods and walks over to stand next to April. "I agree with April. Why did that person sound like Blue? And why did he say he knows Blue?" Donnie shrugs and starts tapping away on his tech gauntlet. "Several reasons..." Everyone waits for Donnie to continue, but he doesn't, so April speaks instead. "Like???" Donnie groans. "I don't know!" Mikey hugs Raph's neck. "Wheres Leo though? That's what I want to know.." Raph sighs. "I don't know Mikey..."

It was the next day. Leo still hadn't shown up, and everyone was searching for him nonstop. But they didn't have to stay worried for much longer because one of Donnie's alarms went off. The one that said someone was in the lair. They went downstairs, and who did they see?

"Leo...?"

Leo steps into the hallway doorway. However, his eyes are black, and they're somehow dripping the same color of black as the eyes. "Hello there, Hamato family." Donnie notices pretty quickly that Leo's voice doesn't sound quite right..."Who are you." Leo chuckles, and it sends shivers down everyone's spines. "I'm your brother! Don't you recognize me..?" 

Leo's smile looks far too unnatural for Donnie's liking. Oh yeah, and also the fact the eyes are black doesn't help his case either. "No, you are not Leo. Who are you." Leo? rolls his eyes. "Ah, alright, fine. I am not your brother. Although I'm very sure that you already knew that. My name is Anomaly."

Donnie takes out his tech bo and points it at him. "Okay...but why do you look like Leo?" Anomaly chuckles, and the chuckles slowly grow louder until it turns into a full-blown laugh. "Oh, don't you understand?! Your brother is my host! Oh, come on, don't tell me you've never heard of demon possession before!" Anomaly continues to laugh, and Mikey, Donnie, and Raph start to back up from him.

"W-What do you mean...? L-Leo isnt...dead? Is he..?" Mikey whisper speaks. Anomaly suddenly stops laughing, and he snaps his head towards them. "Oh no, he's not dead." Anomaly suddenly disappears and shows up right next to Mikey. "In fact, he's screaming for you." From the spot where he's standing, Anomaly punches Mikey and sends him flying. 

"Mikey!!" Raph screams and starts running towards Mikey. However, a black vine comes out of the ground and wraps around Raph's leg, knocking him down. "You little-!" Donnie yells before trying to attack Anomaly. Anomaly manages to dodge almost all of his attacks, except for the final one. Which Donnie actually accidentally does. Donnie hits the wrong button and turns the tech bo into a sword. Which then proceeds to be stabbed into Anomaly's hand. Aka, Leo's hand. 

However, Anomaly doesn't even seem fazed; in fact, he manages to grab the tech bo with the stabbed hand and yanks Donnie forward. He stares at Donnie for a bit before he smiles at him with all his teeth and throws Donnie across the room. Anomaly yanks the tech bo out of his hand and throws it on the ground.

"Is that really all you've got? It's quite pitiful-" He can't say anything else before he gets pinned to the ground by Draxum. "D-Draxum! You came!" Mikey says from the spot where he's trying to stand up with help from the wall. "Yes, I did. And what exactly is going on here?" Anomaly struggles viciously under Draxum's grip. "Get off of me, you bastard!" Draxum scoffs. "As if...uh...whatever your name is. Michelangelo?" Mikey hobbles over to him. "I-I'll explain. Let's just get Leo- Anomaly. Into one of those trapping circle thingys." Draxum raises an eyebrow. "Why?" Mikey shakes his head. "I said I'll explain it; just... we gotta do that first."

"HE'S WHAT?!" Mikey winces as Draxum yells in his ear. Anomaly continually tries to get through the trapping circle and keeps hissing every time it shocks him. "Yes, Leo is possessed...or whatever." Draxum pinches the bridge of his nose. "I swear, every single time I leave you all alone for a few days, all hell breaks loose." 

Anomaly growls from where he's sitting, and Draxum glares at him. "If you don't shut up, I will incinerate you." Anomaly raises a nonexistent eyebrow at him and chuckles slightly. "You wouldn't kill one of your own creations, would you?" Draxum's eyes widen. "How do you know that?" He snaps. Anomaly sits cross-legged and puts his head on his palm. "Oh, I know everything about Leonardo...I'm in his head, remember?"

Draxum makes a noise of disgust and turns away from him. "Michelangelo." Mikey perks up when he hears his name being spoken. "You are going to come with me and find a way to cure Leonardo." Mikey nods and starts following Draxum as he walks away. Anomaly laughs from behind them. "Good luck doing that mortals!" 

So now, its been a few hours. Donnie, Raph, Splinter, and April have been looking over Anomaly while Draxum and Mikey are gone. Most of the time though, it's just Anomaly having staring contests with everyone. He always wins them though, which does make sense considering the fact he can't really feel any pain or discomfort while in Leo's body. Leo can still feel it though...

Finally, Draxum and Mikey return, holding a weirdly colored potion. Raph notices them almost instantly, and he speaks to them. "Guys! Did you find a cure?" Mikey nods his head vigorously and gestures to Draxum. Draxum proceeds to speak. "Yes, we did. It might be hard to give to him, but it is guaranteed to work." Raph stands from where he's sitting and walks up to them. "Alright. What do we have to do?"

Draxum grimaces. "It won't be very fun for Leonardo...but we'll have to make him swallow this potion." Draxum holds up the potion. "Okay..." Raph says, uncertain. "And what will that do?" Draxum clears his throat and continues. "Well, it will make Leonardo throw up the demon." Donnie turns around with a confused expression. "How the fuck does that work?" Raph glares at him. "No swearing." Donnie completely ignores Raph. "Well?"

Mikey shrugs. "Honestly, we don't know. Draxum went looking in the old Hidden City library, and one of the books was a book that was just on how to extract demons from people. Apparently that happens often enough in the Hidden City that a book was made on it. Anyways! There was lots of stuff for different types of demons and stuff, but we eventually managed to find a page on a situation that sounds just like this one! So then we made the potion, and now we're here!"

Donnie's shoulders slump, and he looks away before saying, "Still didn't really answer my question, but whatever..."

They all look at Anomaly, and Anomaly raises an eyebrow at them all. "Why are you all looking at me?" Raph sighs and cracks his knuckles. "I guess it's all or nothing?" Draxum shrugs and walks up to the trapping circle. "I suppose so." Anomaly seems to notice the potion, and his eyes widen slightly. He clearly knows what it's supposed to do. He still chuckles and smirks at Draxum, though. "Good luck trying to make me swallow that, bitch." 

Draxum sighs and gestures for the others to come closer. "Well, you're only one person. I'm sure we can figure something out." Draxum enters the circle, and Mikey, Raph, and Donnie enter after him. Anomaly gets a genuine panicked expression look on his face and tries to move away from them. He obviously stops when he reaches the wall of the circle. 

Everyone seems uncomfortable at the idea of holding Leo down and forcing him to drink the potion, but they know they have to. So, Raph grabs Leo's legs, Mikey his arms, and Donnie pries his mouth open. Draxum carefully pours the potion into Leo's throat. Obviously, Leo squirms around to try and get out of their grasp, and they do let him go when he finally drinks the potion. 

Leo starts coughing and coughing, until eventually, just as Draxum said, he throws up a black goo. He almost immediately faints after, and Donnie has to prop him up so he doesn't fall into it. Although he probably wouldn't have fallen into it anyways considering the fact the goo starts to move.

Raph starts to freak out at that, but Draxum puts a hand on his shoulder. "Its alright. It's the demon; of course it will still be alive. Don't worry though; it can't leave the trapping circle. Donatello, grab your brother." Donnie nods and picks Leo up, carrying him out of the circle. Raph and Mikey follow him out of the circle, but Draxum stays in the circle for a bit longer. "You are a pitiful demon. You're dying, and what do you do? You possess a teenager. You disgust me, Anomaly." The black goo tries to leave the circle, but it gets zapped. 

Draxum rolls his eyes and finally steps out of the circle. The goo tries to follow him out, but of course, it just gets shocked again. "I'll deal with you later. But right now, I need to make sure my son is alright. Especially considering the fact you allowed him to be stabbed." Draxum glares at the goo before turning around and heading to the med bay where Leo was taken.

With the Vengeance saga coming out soon, I am in the mood to yap about Epic.

One of the things I love the most about Epic: the musical is how it builds up this musical language throughout the story, with leitmotifs and callbacks to previous songs.

I'm not a music theorist and will probably use the wrong language to speak of this, but it is my current hyperfixation, therefore I will talk about it anyways. It's probably nothing other ppl haven't already said a thousand times.

Goes without saying there will be spoilers below.

Here's all the songs in epic and what other songs from the musical they reference, based on my listening to them a gazilion times:

The Troy Saga

As the first one one, this saga really sets the building blocks for the entire Epic. Not much references from one song to the next, so instead here are the bits of each song that will be coming back:

The Horse and the Infant 🐎- From the start we get the guitar with Odysseus' theme, which will follow us through the entire musical. We also get Athena's ticking clock, very faintly but definitely there. Our first instance of PE-NE-LO-PEEEEE, which is another mainstay of the musical.

Just a Man 👨- Possibly the most referenced song of the entire musical ,lyrics wise. Variations on "...just a man" , as well as the entire lists of "when" will be coming back as Ody makes choices. Usually questionable ones.

Full Speed Ahead ⛵️- another one that will come back often, from listing the number of men left in the crew, to them harmonizing to "full speed ahead". This is also where we begin the call response of "captain" "eurylochus", which will come back a few times.

Open arms 🤗 - it doesn't come back THAT often, objectively. But this is Polites' song. And that boy WILL be haunting the narrative, thank you very much.

Warrior of the Mind 🦉 - this one is where we get Athena's piano theme, which comes back as often as she does. We do get a call back to 🐎 already with Ody and Athena's meeting, his theme on the guitar along with Athena's ticking clock. Her meeting with Ody also shows her adding the same flourishes to "warrior of the mi-iiiii-iiii-iiii-iiii-iiind" that Ody does as she take him under her wing and I think it's super cute.

The Cyclops Saga

This saga is still building our musical language, but we're already getting call backs to the Troy saga.

Polyphemus 👁- We start with another callback to 🐎, with Odysseus' theme from the top, and again when he negotiates with Polyphemus. The first bits of dialogue between Ody, Eurylochus and Polites also echoes ⛵️ to me, but more somber.

Survive ⚔️ - not a call back to any previous songs in the musical, but I love that this one starts with the cyclops' name sung in the dies iraes. Fantastic foreshadowing of the stakes in this song. A bit of ⛵️ with the 600 lives. And i believe each strike of club is a kill, except for the first (polites lets out a weak captain before the actual kill strike) so we know polythemus kills 14 of Ody's men here.

Remember Them 🪦 - the guitar at the start of this one Calls to ⛵️, we also have the Nobody call back from 👁. I love how the music plays out Ody's theme once the other cyclops tell polyphemus to be silent, showing that it was a smart move not to give his name. A shame he doesnt stick to it. A quick away we go that reminds me of ⛵️, then Athena's intervention calls her theme and ticking clock on top of Ody straight up referring to🦉. We also get some "ooo-hooo-ooo-hooo-ooo"s that will return. And of course, Ody's final few lines that will bite him in the ass later.

My Goodbye 👋 - Athena's 🦉 theme, but sad, really. This one is pretty much warrior of the Mind, the sequel. 👨 reference in there for good mesure as well, for after all he's...(you know the line). One of the things that makes me the most sad in This song is Athena losing the flourishes she took from Ody in 🦉 as she decides she's done. That last goodbye is as plain as her first warrior of the Mind was. Great way to show the loss affecting her. The final "ooooo"s call back to 🪦 to me, sort of showing that my good bye is set in ody's Mind close to the end of remember Them.

The Ocean Saga

More important building of our musical vocabulary in this saga, but we also hit a stride with referencing previous songs for maximum emotional impact.

Storm ⛈️- This one feels like another building block song to me, bringing us musical cues for the storm itself. ⛵️ reference in there, of course, gotta love the crew. This one also foreshadows Aeolus' flutes from keep your friends close, which is fun.

Luck Runs Out 🍀 - Big one for Eurylochus and his arc. This series of questions will haunt Ody through the entire musical. We also get a small musical cues for unnamed gods ( the home of the wi-ind go-od) that will come back later. Small 🤗 refence there as well, leading from the heart.

Keep your friends close 🌬- I love Aeolus and the Winons. A small ref back to ⛵️ in the guitar as Ody returns on the ship, and a blink and you'll miss it music call back to ⛈️ when Ody speaks of the storm in the bag. Penelope and telemachus from 🐎 . And then, ⛈️ coming back in full strength as the bag is open.

Ruthlessness 🔱 - POSEIDON! This one is also an important one going forwards, harsh lessons being taught here. Some horns that remind me of ⛈️, but they are faint and easily missed. The questions asked in 👨 make a return. I'm counting 43 left under your command as a ⛵️ call back. Poseidon final lines echoing ody's in 🪦.

The Circe Saga

I'm probably missing some from this saga. It feels like one of the more self contained ones overall.

Puppeteer 🪆- The first few notes call back to ⛵️, along with it's call response , before switching to 🍀 as Eurylochus tries to confess. The rest is mostly establishing Circe's theme, motives and drives. The think of your past and your mistakes lines feel very much like her casting the spell.

There Are Other Ways 💌 - Circe calls back to 🪆 quite a bit here as she tries to seduce Ody, with her spell lines of think of your past. We also get our mandatory 👨 , and Penelope's notes come to save Ody before he sings of her, going back again to 🐎. And it ends on more 🪆 references, now with the crew harmonizing with circe as they are turned back to men. Rare Odysseus W.

The Underworld Saga

The shortest saga, but my personal favorite. I love how efficient and painful the callbacks in this one are. Truly the turning point for Odysseus character journey.

The Underworld ☠️ - This one is a fun one, and one of my favorite songs with just how much it does with the musical language we built. We start with Ody's theme from 🐎 once again, and then a quick ⛵️ to remind the crew of the stakes. All I hear are screams is a big one from this saga and will be making a come back later. Then, we are haunted again by the question from 👨, the death count of men of ⛵️ and 🔱, with cries of captain in quick succession. Ody talks of the Infant, but it isn't quite a musical call back. Then the musical whammy that is 🤗, as Polites comes back to haunt the narrative. We also get the first instance of Odysseus' mom waiting, which will be back to break your heart later. Also, not a call back, but I love how the ghosts of the crew harmonize with Ody as they get further in the Underworld and he gets more and more haunted.

Not Longer You 👥 - Another banger that's pretty much stand alone. It describes a lot of what will be happening, but does it without bringing any specific song back. The background chorus in the last bit does foreshadow much of what is to come, but it's hard to make out what they say without the subtitles.

Monster 👿 - It's 👨's evil twin, in vibes more than anything else, as its not actually referenced. Not unlike 👥, we get a lot of descriptions of previous songs, but without any musical call backs to them. Then a bit of 🔱, 🐎 for P & T.

The Thunder Saga

I am surprised with how much of summary the first half of this saga gives without overreferencing itself. Makes sense, this is the beginning of the second half of the musical, we need to make sure everyone remembers what happened, but we dont want to pull at your heartstrings just yet. Very smart.

Suffering 🧜‍♀️ - We start with a mandatory 🐎 Penelope call. A hit of Scylla foreshadowing. I can take the suffering from you will be our biggest takeaway from this one.

Different Beast 🩸 - mentions of suffering in a dark echo to what we had in 🧜‍♀️. The "ooo-hooo-ooo-hooo-ooo"s from 🪦 make a return.

Scylla 🐍 - ⛵️ comes back in scattered harmonies as the crew is tired from the journey. 👨 call back with Eurylochus ' forgive me. It's not super easy to make out, but I am pretty sure we get 6 distinct screams for the 6 torch wielding men who get sacrificed here.

Mutiny 🗡 - 🍀's dark mirror in just about every way. So many 🍀 references. The list of questions. Please dont tell me youre about to do what i think you'll do. I love the home of the sun god echoing the home of the wind god. Eurylochus gets his own 👨. Those final ⛵️ as they try to run away.

Thunderbringer ⚡️- Thunder daddy is here and he doesn't play. This is HIS song. 🐎 call back with Ody's please dont make me do this. Then we get the questions from 👨 layered with me take the 🧜‍♀️ from you. Which is wonderful to me. for ody the real Penelope will make this all worth it, will take the suffering away, even if those were the siren's words, not his wife's.

The Wisdom Saga

True to the saga title, this one is filled with athena. We get some building blocks for telemachus that come back very quickly.

Legendary 📜 - a theme for everyone's favorite anime protagonist, Telemachus!

Fight, Little Wolf 🐺 - Athena returns at last!!! 🦉for her theme throughout the song.

We'll be Fine 🕑 - more of 🦉 for Athena's theme. I also love that telemachus does the same type of flourishes to we'll be fine as ody did to warrior of the Mind, very cute. He is matching Athena's, which musically confirms she misses Ody to me. And of course that final 📜, for Telemachus, Athena's new bestie.

Love in Paradise 🏝 - This one is a doozy, taking most of the references for this saga into itself. 🦉 for Athena's theme to start, then in quick succession, 🪦,🌬,🔱,✨️,👥,🩸,🐍 before giving us the last lines of⚡️to catch athena up to speed. Then we switch up to a new sound (another banger) . Ody's guitar riff from 🐎 as he gets a bit upset. Then we skip, 7 years ahead with 🦉's ticking clock, to Ody's infamous breakdown. If your favorite song hadn't come back yet, it's probably here! We begin with a frayed version of Ody's theme from 🐎 (he's literally on his last strings) with ☠️'s all I hear are screams, duetted by calypso 's attempts to bring back the previous good vibes. And when you think it can't get sadder, 🤗+🍀+ ☠️ triple whammy to make sure you remember everything that Odysseus has already lost.

God Games 🛡 - Athena's theme is again one of the major call backs for this one 🦉 mostly as she tries to reestablish control of her argument with Aphrodite, and gets the upper hand on Ares. Love that Ares's beat is kind of a dark mirror of Athena's. As the 2 gods of war it's very fitting. Then, of course, Thunder daddy brings ⚡️ back to smite Athena. We get another instance of 🦉, and a hint of 📜 before Athena's final stand.

So yeah, I'm excited for the vengeance saga.

Short stories, novels, or poems?

I cannot stand most poetry. Maybe it’s because I’m still in school and have to analyse it but I can’t deal with how abstract it can be. I want to write more short stories but my one and only WIP is probably gonna be closer to a novel, if and when I finish it.

What genre do you prefer reading?

Fantasy, especially high fantasy. Murder mysteries and detective stories in general are a close second. Most other genres are reserved for spin offs or fan fiction.

Are you a planner or a write as I go kind of person?

I make a plan that I then actively ignore my OCs force me to not use

What music do you listen to while writing?

Most of the time I listen to the one Reddit podcast I’ve listened to every episode of because I can zone out and I don’t miss anything important. This one is a bit of a bad habit because it distracts me, but EPIC the musical is my current hyperfixation and I listen to that constantly as well.

Favorite books/movies?

Because I have the reading comprehension of an 11 year old we have Murder Most Unladylike (I would die for this series), its spin off the Ministry of Unladylike Activity, The Hunger Games but only really the first book, How to train your dragon but only really the Netflix show and the first movie (the books are great but I haven’t read them in 7 or 8 years and because they’re so different from the movies I’m not sure if I’d like them anymore)

Any current WIPs?

Gold, Greed and Gods which is a vaguely Victorian fantasy about the main cast trying to find a cult before it engulfs the world in literal chaos. And also magical shenanigans and timeline fuckery

No it kinda weirds me out. The closest I’ll get is asking my one irl mutual about their experiences with stuff that I (as a someone who is cishet and perisex) do not understand

Are you kill happy with your characters?

I’m not the biggest fan of angst so no. If anyone was gonna die you aren’t allowed to get attached to them so I don’t get attached them hence why the only dead characters in my WIP die before or very soon after it begins. That isn’t to say my characters aren’t affected, but I can only imagine any potential readers will be neither here or there about those characters.

Coffee or Tea while writing?

I don’t really like hot drinks but I hate the smell of coffee so tea?

Slow or fast writer?

A secret third thing which is I wrote 5000 words in 3 hours yesterday so for atleast the next week I won’t be able to string a sentence together

If you were in a fantasy world, what would you be?

A healer would be fun? I wanna be a doctor so I guess that’s close enough. I cannot imagine I’d survive very long without my glasses/ contacts in any case.

Most fav book cliche:

Not really a book cliche but horny bard memes will never not be funny. I also love juxtaposition between characters, if done tastefully, eg. Ray of sunshine is best friends/ dating the grumpiest character alive. I also just love ray of sunshine characters in general. Also, calm/ happy go lucky/ mentor figure characters who have really high body counts and it’s just kind of an open secret are really fun.

Least favorite cliche:

A lot of romance tropes are tied for last place: miscommunication, any reference or idea that firsts=better (virginity, first loves, one true love etc.), not like other girls

Also love triangles. The only good love triangles are the ones that end in polycules. No exceptions (/hj)

I probably just have a problem with like most romance stories

Favorite scene to write?

I love when characters reference unique worldbuilding things that I actually had to think about. Similarly, if I feel I’m doing them well, exposition dumps can be fun.

Reason for writing?

Because blirbos in my head yearn for freedom

Idk which Legos you were referring to so I will make a HC post for Ninjago characters since it’s what I’m currently hyperfixating on.

So one thing about me is that I love incorporating other people’s headcanons into my own. And sometimes that leads to some contradicting headcanons, so in my little brain I have like, multiple different sets of headcanons for a bunch of different characters while also having My Headcanons, those being the ones I believe in the most/came up with without outside influence. I will be listing My Headcanons, but I type that entire preface to explain why some of my posts might be contradictory of the headcanons I list here 🫶

Their eye color aligns with their element, they all have their natural eye colors, but after realizing/unlocking their elemental powers, they began to change.

Adding onto the above hc, Kai and Nya's eyes are still pretty dull due to them being like, the last two to realize their powers, while Jay's are extremely bright and vibrant.

Jay- she/they (occasionally he) transfem + gender-fluid, bisexual

Hard of hearing, wears hearing aids. I think the hearing loss has always been there, but I think her elemental power just worsened it, bc you know. Thunder loud.

That being said, I think she was the first to get her elemental powers. I think they got them when she was like, a really really young kid.

Has heterochromia.

Came out as trans like, mid-prime empire.

Has psychosis and suffers from delusions.

Not rlly a Jay hc, but related. Their mom gave them up because she was desperately hoping they wouldn't have an elemental power, but if she did, they'd be near unfindable because she lived through hell and didn't want Jay to have to go through the same.

AuDHD

Nya- she/they transfem nonbinary, bisexual demiromantic

Has a tremor after un-merging with the ocean.

Her and Kai both have pretty bad anger issues.

SHE CAN BREATHE UNDERWAAAATTTEEERRRRR I believe she can ok?

For a long time after Hands Of Time she hates the way she looks because of how much she looks like her mom.

Still holds a heavy resentment against their parents, because even though it wasn't their choice to leave, them and Kai still had to grow up alone.

Fucking hates the taste of cinnamon.

Has time blindness, but only after un-merging with the ocean. She became disoriented and confused about the passage of time after being the ocean for so long.

Sometimes they still feel pulled back to the water.

Has insomnia, and a sleepwalking problem when he can get to sleep.

Looked fairly human when he was young, but as he got older, his Oni and Dragon features started showing more.

The feelings he felt for Harumi was mostly confusion because she was the first girl he got close to that didn't have what felt like an 'older sister' role in his life.

Really likes bugs.

Has auditory processing disorder.

Their body doesn't regulate temperature regularly.

Religiously watches iceberg videos.

He loves cooking, and is very defensive about it. NOBODY is allowed in the kitchen while he's cooking (except Nya she's his taste tester).

Has constant night terrors and has a very detailed sleep routine to avoid them.

Will sometimes pick up little crafts or projects, jack of all trades type vibe.

if im being honest it’s pretty hard to remember since i first thought her up 2 years ago, but i think it stemmed from the concept of “what if red son sibling” and i went from there eheh

for the backstory stuff i was like “oh but if i give her fire powers that would be too predictable and the same as red son :(” and then “OH WAIT WHAT IF THEY WERE TWINS” i said, with malicious intent

design timeline under the cut bc i got really off topic

i wasn’t able to find the original message when i was starting to plan her out (curse you discord search function!!!) but this was her first iteration! the backstory bits stayed pretty much the same throughout her entire existence, it’s just the design that changed. you can kinda see the horn shape change gradually over time as well (ignore how awful my art was)

and then this is her second iteration, which i made after an event in a discord rp server w/ my friends! she’s kept this outfit since

and then there’s also what i like to refer to as “the dark ages” when i de-curled her hair like an idiot. it started off with ease for screenshot editing but then it started to leak into my actual art. i recently fixed this tho when my lmk hyperfix came back a few months ago (THANK GOD)

something i find especially interesting is how her outfit slowly started to get less and less detailed as i drew her more and got more comfortable with her character. many of the constants of her design stayed, and compared to my other lmk ocs (cough cough Beng whom i have not posted to tumblr bc i still haven’t finalized the redesign cough cough) she’s stayed pretty much the same.

her current design has a few small changes when compared to the design before! i mostly just fixed her hair, added a horn ring, added details to the jacket & accessories, and gave her hooves. the hooves stemmed from a heated conversation i had w/ my irl friend about how red son doesn’t have any bull features despite his dad being a literal anthropomorphic bull

also along with that it took me a WHILE to solidify her personality. same with her relationships and her views on the canon cast!

tbh i’ve been considering adding another small design change as well, mainly just making the ears more bull-like bc the ones she has kinda looks like a sheep or something

anyways yeah i got really off topic, anyways!!!!! when i create ocs i usually start with a concept and then build up their theming, backstory stuff, etc. and then do their designs! afterwards i work on characterization, usually by throwing them through an interdimensional wormhole (the rp i mentioned earlier)

what made you pick up the current muse(s) you have? oh man. uh. i guess, following my url's general meaning, i choose to write muses on here that have defied their fates/expectations in some shape or form. this is true for more of my older muses on here, as i've definitely added some recently where i have to kinda twist that a bit. aside from that, i really just write muses that i can connect with on some level. my apparent calling is sad men who are prone to violence and are also incredibly sad/lonely. the mains i have floating in my head are usually there because it's the current media i'm consuming (i.e. star wars: the old republic). i could write long metas on why i adore all of my muses though. c':

is there anything you don’t like to write? uhh, you know. i'm actually pretty open to most things. i need some sort of action going on, regardless of the type, to keep interested i suppose. like, if there's a lot of conversation, i tend to get stuck. that's just because i struggle with it and i don't want to bore my partner, though. aside from that, pretty much any genre you throw at me, i'll be interested in writing.

is there anything you really enjoy writing? I'm a sucker for redemption au's, even if it takes thirty threads to get there. i enjoy writing the aftermath of a character's worst arc, and all of the guilt, pain, and sorrow that comes with it. so do i want to write arcann's redemption? yes. do i want to write about nihilus somehow healing from being a literal wound in the force? yes. (or even, writing who he was before malachor.) ragnar going back to being a farmer? please. all of it, yes. aside from that, i really, really enjoy hurt/comfort, violent/gore threads, general sci-fi adventure, and general fantasy adventure (the campfires, the fights, the enemies in between destinations, etc.)

how do you come up with headcanons?  it's kind of a mix between being inspired by outside sources, such as media, music, mututals, and things that pop into my head after hyperfixating about a muse for three straight hours or something. i do adopt headcanons/partial headcanons from other people, but like sparingly and if it's appropriate/i know them/have asked. most of the time i really just get hit in the face with them though.

do you write in silence or do you play music? i am someone that requires music to write. i need to drown out distractions however i can. i really struggle with being easily distracted (getting tested for adhd soon lol) because i can very easily lose a thought before i'm able to write it down. i find that with music i can focus better, and i have playlists that help with whatever mood i'm going for in the reply.

do you plan your replies or wing them? i usually just sort of write what comes to mind first and then, if i have questions about something, i'll either approach the other mun or write things in the tags. sort of referring to the previous question, i try to write my ideas down as soon as i see a reply, or i'll be prone to forgetting them.

do you enjoy shipping? yes, 1000% yes. i love all sorts of relationships, not only the romantic ones. i don't really get to write about platonic/friendships too often, but i really enjoy the times i can. that said, re: romantic ships, i'm usually on board if there's chemistry between muses. i also encourage other muns to approach me if they think they might want to ship because chances are, i'm already on board.

Who am I?

As shown in my profile pic, I’m Wyvere! I go by they/it/xe/shi/wyrm pronouns, in case you want to refer to me in the third person.

I’m asexual (specifically apothisexual), aromantic (specifically aegoromantic), and nonbinary (possibly genderfluid?). I’m autistic, adhd, ocd, clinically depressed, arfid, and possibly other neurodivergencies. And I’m a therian, specifically a sea dragon and mantis shrimp!

I like to draw stuff! I’ll post the drawings I’m proud of on here, they’re all traditional art because idk how to draw digitally :( My favorite subjects are dragons, because the lizard and serpentine bodies are just fun to draw. I draw other creatures too, but don’t expect any humans from me. Humans are boring /hj

I also enjoy worldbuilding, especially spec bio! I love making spec bio headcanons on fictional creatures from media I like (which admittedly aren’t always 100% true to canon, I have to adjust stuff to make it fit with proper biology sometimes), which I’ll post sometimes!

I’ve had a lot of story concepts, but unfortunately not the writing skills or diligence to turn them into proper stories. I’d like to write my stories someday, but I’m just not even sure how to go about that…

Well, to start, my main special interests and favorite subjects are zoology (especially with invertebrates), and dragon folklore! I’ll ramble about them a ton to anyone interested, and I’ll love to hear about info I didn’t know about them, so I’d love to get into a conversation about them!

oooh, thank you for the ask!! ok, so: 11. Three tropes that are fine but overrated. honestly, I love a lot of tropes (lol @ myself, earlier, looking through a list of tropes and desperately scrolling to find one I don't love - like literally give me a soulmark au anyday), but the ones that aren't my favorites are: 1. Regency/Royalty AUs - I love, love period dramas, but often I feel like when fics are written with this trope, the characters feel totally off for me. There's not a lot in the royai fandom, but definitely in some other ones I've been in. 2. Virgin!fics - I just don't consider it to be all that accurate (for royai, anyway - it could definitely work more for other fandoms/pairings, depending). Like, even for Riza, I really don't think her back tattoo prevented her from having sex at least once (excluding/before Roy) - in my opinion, anyway! I find general inexperience is more fun to play with then straight up virgin fics. 3. major character death - I will usually avoid reading something involving this, because it usually makes me big sad. :( not that it can't be well done, butttt yeah haha. I love some good angst, but I don't enjoy when it's too angsty. also for royai, I'm like... at least let them have some happiness, jeez?

but honestly, any trope can be cool and interesting depending on how the writer does it! and, like, whatever floats your boat, ya know? 20. Do you work on a single project or many at the same time? How does that work for you? okay, so this depends on my mood, and current wip hyperfixation, but generally I do enjoy working on multiple at once. it's nice to be able to switch between projects when you get stuck... but sometimes it's also nice to focus on one thing.

28. Any writing advice that works for you and you feel like sharing?

so writing advice can be very... self-specific, if that makes sense? i find a lot of writing advice out there that's supposed to be geared towards anyone sometimes doesn't always work for everyone. but! a few things that I find helpful for myself are: 1. don't believe the voice in your head telling you that your writing is awful - that is the devil talking, lol. let it sit for a bit, and come back, and I promise that it'll be better when you're reading it using a different mindset. it's happened to me so many times where I'm like "this is fucking awful why did I ever write this" and then I reread it a few days/weeks/months later and I'm like "wait, this is actually good??" it just needs to simmer for a bit. 2. as stated earlier, let your writing sit for a bit, especially while editing, or trying to figure out transitions or plot holes. I'll get really frustrated with an issue sometimes, and believe it's impossible to fix - but mostly that's just me hitting a wall. if I let it sit for a while, and stop reading my own words for a bit (i basically get sick of my own writing lol), then suddenly a lot of the problems are a lot easier to solve. 3. keep a list of words/phrasing that you like - then you have a reference to look at when you're struggling with word choice. super helpful, as I often get stuck with descriptions, and then I have a nice little list to use as reference. 4. skip over stuff that you're struggling with in the initial writing process - can't think of a name? add it later! not sure how to describe something? skip it and come back! don't like your word choice? fix it later! basically don't fixate on small details, as it can always be added in later. this is why I always have to tell myself that editing is not as bad as I blow it up to be in my head, because honestly the best parts of my writing usually happen during the editing process.

My total crack theory in a nutshell: Nanook is Akivili.

Let's start with Kafka, specifically the interrogation scene. She tells us there are 3 ways an Aeon can die: (1) assimilation from overlapping Paths,

(2) they are directly killed by another Aeon,

or (3) oh shit big tree-

As far as I recall, we haven't been directly told what that third method is. But I think we can safely assume it's important. I can't particularly think of any Path that was subsume the Trailblaze (except maybe Harmony, but there's nothing to suggest it), so first method is out. Himeko tells us (when we're asking questions in the parlour car) that she doesn't think Akivili was directly killed by another Aeon, so for now I'm gonna take her word on that (with a grain of salt). Kafka also seems to share a similar sentiment.

But Himeko DOES mention something important: the Primum Mobile. Essentially the idea that each Aeon MUST follow their own Path. It's not said what happens if they don't, or whether it's even possible for them to stray from their Path, but I think if it is, it's an obvious third way for them to die.

Kafka says we are destined to come into conflict with Nanook, in a "struggle of Aeonic proportions". And then she says "even Aeons can be killed." But if you ask if killing an Aeon is their plan, she responds "Ha, are you kidding? That's not what we want. I just want to tell stories from the past: stories about Aeons that have fallen." Hard to tell exactly what to take away from this except maybe the suggestion that killing Nanook is not our goal - conclusion pending.

Alright cool let's go into Simulate Universe and oh shit here's Fuli-

Interestingly, Fuli is providing us (masquerading as Akivili) with the memories of Nanook here. Nanook originates from a planet called Adlivun, which was somehow destroyed. (Now, Akivili's home world is actually referred to as Pegana by Himeko. But my copium here is that planets can undergo name changes or be called different things by the locals.)

I'll be honest this is where the crack theory falls apart a little bit... maybe? We get this text from the loading screen:

The natural assumption here is that Nanook was an Adlivun local who ascended to Aeonhood when his planet was destroyed. However, Fuli's memories appear somewhat non-linear, and both that and the loading text don't provide a concrete timeline.

"You remember that there is a golden scar on your body, and golden blood flowing on the dying planet." implies that this sentence occurs after the ascension of Nanook, but the planet was probably dying before then. "You find yourself dark-skinned and wearing a robe on the wasteland." would come before his ascension.

But there's a potential gap between him being born on the planet and him returning to witness the disaster, during which anything could have happened. For example, joining the Nameless - "you laugh at exploration". The other line here, "you are a swift shadow across the abyss, reaching out to catch the shooting star" could maybe refer to either trying to stop disaster striking, or catch someone falling (but at this point I'm reading into things).

That and now I'm adding in the fact that all of the arguably post-death HCQ members are Destruction characters, which is thematically linking the Destruction Path with experiencing and/or witnessing death.

So at the very least here's my more sensible version of this theory: Nanook was one of the Nameless at some point. Potentially even witnessing or being involved in the death of Akivili, occurring on Adlivun and probably related to whatever caused the planet to fall.

Side tangent: by the way I'm also making the call that Pom-Pom is Akivili/Akivili's heart, and there's actually evidence this time:

Multiverse of Marx intro and base reference

My hyperfixation is my Marx. I've also come up with other versions of him. The majority at least partially inspired by things in dreams. There are currently over 60 of them, plus Marx prime in the very front of this image. I will put up the individual colored images, but I must warn you, the ones with the base body shape (upright biped) may be outdated, because I don't want to redraw all of them every time I think of an improvement to the base Marx. Its just the slight body shape change and the neck angle and length and head size. (update: I am maybe occasionally updating some when I feel like it.) Group image has not been added to because I need to redraw the whole thing some day.

Unfortunately, they're not all fleshed out with as much lore as I'd like.

They are all ace so you cannot ship them. They have to call each other by code names. They meet up sometimes to interact, and sometimes they take advantage of their immortality and go to some partially terraformed moon and fight each other without having to holding back until they get tired or need to regenerate. They just feel like they need a good brawl sometimes. Its enrichment for them.

In Which Talys Rants About His Latest (resurgent) Hyperfixation Instead Of Going To Sleep

;It’s exactly what it says in the title. The past week and a half have been a spiral of anxiety depression and ADHD and that has somehow led me into rediscovering my hyperfixation for mapmaking, using the world of FTEITS as a case study.

Mostly it’s an excuse to show my progress and go

Methodology and Tools

I’m using Artifexian’s excellent worldbuilding and atlas mapping series, plus supplemental research whenever he doesn’t provide enough information for my specific case.

As for tools, aside from GPlates from Artifexian, I use Affinity Designer, because it’s a single purchase instead of Adobe’s hell subscription and I find the free vector programs like Inkscape too limiting.

Step One: Get your old shit together

So, I’ve drawn the world of FTEITS (I refer to it as “world of four” internally, a moniker which loses meaning the further I stop treating four as my arc number, but whatever) on paper years ago. Here’s an almost-up-to-date scan (the one I used as reference for all this)

A year ago I already tried doing this exact process I’m doing it now: basically using GPlates to project that on a sphere, then drawing continents to adjust the shape directly on a globe, which got me here

Step Two: Adjust that shit and get some climates

Climate zones are one of the things I wanted to do this whole thing for. Basically I’m fine drawing whatever shape, but I thought it would be easier to flesh out the world with a more systematic approach.

I technically started this last year too, including the tectonic plates (basically I already knew where I wanted mountains, so I added plates to justify their existence). I also adjusted the shape of the continent known as Aarde (name subject to change as 2022 me is a lot keener than 2012 me that maybe using Dutch as the basis for the language of your majority black continent “because Afrikaans” is actually a bad idea) because I realized it was too small and my southern hemisphere too empty.

I also decided to add a couple islands in the southeast, adjusted the shape of that continent since I wanted a monsoon circulation there and it turns out you need an equatorial ocean for that to happen.

Step Three: Fill in more shit like resources, then realize you completely messed up ocean circulation

Basically what that says. Ocean currents dictate a lot (including climates, but also stuff like fishing hotspots). And I completely misunderstood the way ocean currents work.

So I decided to add what is essentially a submerged continent to the south pole to create some fishing hotspots near the (still needs to be renamed) Moeder Eiland, and also made shitty annotations on the map before I went back to the drawing board.

Basically marking ocean ridges and trenches, and a sketch of that continent knowing that I’d go back to GPlates to make it look okay on a sphere.

Step Four: Actually execute concept

The only thing I actually did in gplates was redo my tectonic plates and draw that submerged continent. Oh, and also, I added a mountain range to the southeast of Eogua. Which, ironically, I then found my paper map for an unrelated thing (I forgot what the other mountain range was named) and found that at some point in the past, I independently had already decided to add a mountain range there. So. I did that.

I also started doing an elevation map in more details (this one is incompete; i focused on getting the mountains done first since they also influenced climates which, again, were my primary goal here). With my tablet and pencil, this actually starts to look like, you know, a map? Madness.

Step Five: Work, work, work

So it turns out that an elevation map takes a ton of work. No wonder I never finished the first one. If the brain worms hadn’t dictated it now I don’t know how I would have done it.

Oh, also I adjusted some shit near the poles since distortions and all that. So that was another round in GPlates too.

Oh hey, this is finished, right? Right???

Step Six: Realize you fucked up ocean currents again

In my defense, I’d say the artifexian guide on that is just. not great.

Anyway between that and a first iteration on climate zones I realized it was time to adjust some shapes again. Which. Maybe I should have checked my climates before I finished the elevation map so these changes didn’t have to cascade across a bunch of different layers.

So I adjusted the landmasses for my main setting, shifting it north…

And then finally I redid the currents to get something that I think is more or less correct, or as close to correct as I’m bothered getting anyway

Oh, and I added more islands. I don’t even know if they’re visible in this file size lmao

Step Seven: Realize If You Want To Export Many Maps You’re Gonna Be In Trouble

Okay so Affinity programs have this “Persona” feature which lets you essentially switch modes. One of them is the Export persona that lets you say “these are the outputs I want from my file”

Problem is (and this is a feature people have asked but hasn’t come yet) all you can do there is slice your file. I would have liked if instead my slices were like “this and that layer for the elevation map, this and that layer for the climate map” but i guess that’s not in the cards right now

So…I cut my file into a bunch of artboards, and used the Symbol feature to ensure that each artboard was synced (a symbol basically flags a layer so that every duplicate of that layer will be edited at the same time, and you can even scale them differently, etc etc). For now I have three artboards, but I can already tell I’ll probably need to split them up further, for instance if I want an export for the tectonic map.

But for now it’s a topograhy map, a climate zone map, and a sociopolitical map. The first two are complete (you know, barring potential changes and iterations, but I consider them done). The third is just a sketch where I plopped down the major cities, I’ll be adding more stuff as I figure out how to do it.

Needless to say, it’s not great to look at but whatever.

Step Eight: Waste Almost An Hour Writing A Tumblr Post About All This

In my defense, the beta post editor did decide to crash on me. It does not handle moving pictures around well. I’m writing this using the old, non-beta editor now.

This is long so! Entire mental gymnastics process of Genshin!Reki will be under the cut :}

Okay so first of all, when i do these kinds of stuff, I actually want to incorporate the characters and such instead of relying on general aesthetics, since it makes it more fun trying to think about the talents and such

When I looked at Reki, I immediately thought he was a sword person, okay in this case i really didnt think of it much, I just can see him using a sword than the other weapon types? So that’s what I went with!

As for his vision, I gave him the Pyro Vision. While it fits his color pallette since Reki is red, It also fits his personality since i noticed a lil pattern going on with vision wielders and how their personalities and background connected with their visions. For pyro visions, they are most often seen as passionate, and courageous even. Reki shows clear love for his skateboarding hobby, as well as drawing and creating them even, he’s clearly motivated and loves it!!

Also I used Mondstadt for his origin because the idea of him being under the land of the God of Freedom felt fitting for his character :0

Anyways, moving on to the talents! I admit they were hell to work with because this was the first time i sat down and actually conceptualized this, but it was fun nonetheless!

I absolutely loves the idea of giving him a support dps kit for his attacks, It pays homage to him giving his support and aid to others while also giving it his all. For Cinder Kicks, I based it off Barbara’s Elemental Skill but instead of healing, it would have given you a temporary atk boost (When you unlocked Talent 2) as well as providing room for elemental reactions to deal more dmg to nearby enemies.

Actually, Cinder Kicks had an alternate name called Cinder Ollie, my friend had told me that it would be funny to add in a skating reference to the name and how it references fucking CindeReki in the soon to be posted drama dvd spinoff and I’m CACKLING at the thought

Okay so moving on to his Elemental Burst, Vitality’s Cogs and Ignition. I decided to give more of the mechanic theme in this burst by turning the area where this burst would be activated to show a huge cog that would spin every 2 seconds to deal pyro aoe dmg to enemies, in a way, this represents Reki’s talent and passion for skating, bright and strong.

Now we’re going to the passives, at first for Reki’s passive 3, i thought about giving him a stamina boost or smth to 10% if he’s present in the party, bUT THEN I REMEMBERED THAT THIS MAN CREATES SKATEBOARDS, FOR PEOPLE TO AID THEM, LIKE HOW HE MADE LANGA HIS OWN CUSTOM SKATEBOARD. That resulted in me finalizing his Passive 3 so that he can a 20% chance of refunding a portion when creating weapon ascension materials since it!! fits so much!!!

Passive 2 on the other hand is based of Sucrose’ passive, I made it so that it caters to adding more atk boost and dmg and it would also reference Reki who wouldnt hesitate to help people huee.

Last Passive is basically the stamina idea i had at first for passive 3, where the party’s speed would be boosted for 10% while stamina consumption would be reduced to 10%. This also gives the same reason to Passive 2 so hueee

Now lastly, his constellation! Arbitrium Motus is basically the latin translation to Determination and Movement, the meaning i had for this constellation is that no matter how you feel like you’re dragged down by others or by yourself, you can still push past those negativity and stand with your own feet to continue moving forward.
