Electric Pickup Trucks: The Next Frontier of EVs_NEWS from Test Miles on Vimeo.
As electric vehicles (EVs) charge full-speed ahead, a new frontier emerges: electric pickup trucks. These beasts, which once guzzled gallons of petrol, are now poised to conquer the electric highway, promising robust performance, lower maintenance, and eco-friendly credentials. But are they really the game-changer automakers claim? Buckle up as we explore the electric pickup revolution, from the pioneers to the up-and-comers. Why Electric Pickup Trucks Matter Electric pickups aren’t just a fad; they’re a practical evolution. With electric motors generating immense torque, these trucks are tailor-made for hauling, towing, and off-road adventures. Their hefty frames can house substantial battery packs, offering impressive ranges—many exceeding 300 miles per charge. For fleet buyers, the allure is clear: lower maintenance costs and reduced fuel expenses. Plus, their capability to power worksite tools directly from the truck's battery adds another layer of practicality. Given that commercial trucks clock more road hours than typical cars, their transition to electric can significantly slash greenhouse gas emissions. The Electric Trailblazers Leading the charge are three notable entries. First on the scene was Rivian’s R1T in 2022, an innovative truck featuring a unique Gear Tunnel for extra storage. Following closely was the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, a behemoth known for its extreme capabilities and party tricks like the Crab Walk. Not to be outdone, Ford rolled out the F-150 Lightning, a versatile model spanning from basic work trucks to luxury-loaded variants. What's on the Horizon? 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV Chevrolet’s 2024 Silverado EV promises up to 400 miles per charge and a whopping 754 horsepower. With a Wide Open Watts mode that zips from 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, it’s as quick as it is powerful. This Ultium-platform truck will offer a Crew Cab design and versatile features like a frunk and a midgate for transporting long items. Ram Revolution EV The Ram 1500 Revolution concept made its splash at CES, boasting a 350-500 mile range and unique elements like a three-row cabin and Shadow Mode, where the truck follows the driver. Production is set for 2024, potentially featuring a range extender—a first among mainstream electric trucks. GMC Sierra EV GMC’s second electric truck, the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, aims for an early 2024 debut. Mirroring the Silverado’s specs but wrapped in a more traditional guise, it offers 754 horsepower, 9,500 pounds of towing capacity, and lightning-fast charging capabilities. Canoo Pickup The Canoo Pickup, a standout with its forward-control design and compact yet spacious build, faced an uncertain future as the company pivoted to government contracts. Its 500+ horsepower and 200-mile range made waves, but production timelines remain elusive. Volkswagen Scout EV Reviving the iconic Scout name, Volkswagen plans a 2026 debut for its off-road-ready electric pickup. This American-made, 300-horsepower truck aims for a 400-mile range and a $40,000 starting price. Toyota Electric Tacoma Rumors suggest an electric Tacoma could be on the horizon for 2024. This smaller, more affordable pickup would fill a niche below pricier models like the F-150 Lightning, appealing to budget-conscious buyers seeking a rugged EV. The Contrarians While the big names charge ahead, several startups offer exciting, if uncertain, prospects. Companies like Alpha Motors with their Wolf series and EdisonFuture with their EF1-T showcase innovative designs and capabilities, yet their market entries remain speculative. The Bottom Line Electric pickup trucks symbolize a significant shift in automotive technology, merging utility with sustainability. As legacy automakers and bold startups vie for dominance, consumers stand to benefit from a diverse, competitive market. Whether they become the backbone of commercial fleets or the darling of adventure enthusiasts, electric pickups are set to redefine what these workhorses can do—one silent, torque-filled mile at a time.

“you’ve never hurt me. ever.” Because I refuse to stop
Whipped up some werewolf/vampire AU, i don’t really know where this is going but its fine! Totally fine.
Soft angst prompts.
———————————————
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry —”
Dmitri winced as Mia set him down and retreated, like just touching him might cause injury. The tree was rough against his back but it wasn’t as bad as his bruised ribs, which made it a little hard to breathe. “It’s fine. I’m fine, I swear.”
Mia had dropped to a crouch almost two meters away, her hands twisting together nervously as those electric blue eyes watched him in intense worry. She looked unconvinced. “Are you sure? I grabbed you kind of hard.”
Grabbed was an understatement. “Tackle” would’ve been more appropriate, and not by a human girl, but by a bear-sized wolf. And getting bodied by a wolf was not Dmitri’s idea of a good time. Even now, Mia’s fangs still showed, making her lisp a little. It was kind of cute, really, almost mitigated the fact that she was a werewolf.
And he was a vampire. But she didn’t know that.
(Yet.)
“Hardly the worst I’ve been hit,” Dmitri grunted as he struggled to right himself into a straighter position. His lip was bleeding and his hands were scraped up, but other than that he was unhurt. “But better you than that truck.”
Dmitri should’ve known better than to go snooping around for a midnight snack in these neck of the woods. Not just because Mia or the townspeople lived here, but because the long dark roads were silent, but so unpredictable, and a hotbed for speeding since police presence was so low. “How fast do you think he was going? Gotta be at least ninety.”
His attempt at lightening the mood didn’t work. Mia just frowned even deeper. “I was afraid I’d hurt you.”
“Oh,” Now Dmitri felt bad for ignoring her concerns. And knowing now what he knew, he could understand why she was so worried. Maybe his lack of a strong reaction to the supernatural was weird. He’d lived so long in it now that even this wasn’t as much of a surprise as it should be, if only because he already knew werewolves existed.
And despite knowing this, Dmitri could not find it in himself to be terrified. A little afraid, maybe, and definitely surprised. Was her whole commune like that? Her parents, her siblings? It might explain why that Matthew guy was so hairy. And grumpy. But he wasn’t truly afraid, not of Mia, not what she might do to him. He had already seen the kind of person she was, helpful and protective. Got in a fight because of him.
He smiled softly at her. “You’ve never hurt me. Ever.”
Mia blinked at him, before smiling back, relieved. Her body relaxed, shoulders dropping as she fell forward on her hands and knees. Her fingernails still looked like claws, although they were slowly retracting. “So you’re not scared of all of…. This?” She gestured vaguely to all of herself.
Dmitri only shrugged. “It’s… it’s not so bad. I mean, I was afraid you guys were a cult.”
That made her laugh weakly. “No, we’re not a cult, I promise. Just a pack. We have to seclude ourselves because… well, you can guess why.”
“Hunters,” Dmitri said without thinking, and before Mia could call him out on knowing too much, he added quickly. “People would hunt you down. Like the stuff in legends.”
He knew he was digging himself in deeper by pretending to be stupid, to not know as much as he did. Someday, he thought, Mia might find out that he was a vampire, and that he knew plenty about their world; and he’d be shit out of luck when it happened. But his mouth was moving before his mind and Dmitri was already in too deep to backtrack now. He couldn’t, not until he could get a better gauge of Mia and her understanding of their world. How werewolves felt about vampires.
“Yes.” Mia nodded sadly. “We haven’t lost anyone recently, but Noah, our pack alpha, he remembers them all. I hope you understand, you can’t tell anyone.”
“No, of course!” Dmitri nodded quickly. He didn’t want to give her any reason not to trust him. To kill him or worse, kick him out of the commune, the only home he’s known for months, since the slaughter of his nest. “I completely understand. My lips are sealed.”
Not like he’d have anyone to tell. Public school here wasn’t exactly riveting, and having only just started, Dmitri didn’t have a lot of friends, nor was making any very quickly. Quickly attaching himself to the resident weirdo there (Mia) definitely didn’t help, but he didn’t care.
He didn’t regret any of his choices one bit.
“I’m here to stay,” He told her, smiling. “If you’ll let me, that is.”
Mia grinned, a full wolffish grin of too many canines. “Yes! I mean, we’d have to ask Noah first. And we have to explain how you found out. So I might be grounded for a while, but —” she shrugged. “It’ll work out fine!”
“Yeah, it’ll be fine.” Dmitri agreed, as if he wasn’t already six feet deep in a lie.
Totally fine.

“I wanna live life fast, I don't know how to slow down.”
full name: Kaiden “Kai” Leon Amari
city of origin: Atlanta, Georgia
age: 34
species: Werewolf
occupation: Owner of Moonlight Ink tattoo parlor, part-time boxer at 9 Round
faceclaim: Sinqua Walls
⇨ B I O G R A P H Y
Kaiden was born into a werewolf pack in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. The younger of two sons, Kaiden and Kallen grew up thick as thieves; his brother was always his best friend and never seen as a rival. Kai’s father was an alpha werewolf for a modestly-sized pack in Atlanta and it was set in stone that Kal would take his father’s place before Kai was ever born. Their youth went as expected: Kal was kept on a short leash and Kai was free to run rampant. As the younger son, he had no promised responsibility to weigh on his shoulders or ruin his childhood. While his brother was stuck in classes on werewolf history, or stuffy meetings with local pack leaders, Kai was allowed to wander, run, and enjoy his childhood. He spent more time with their human mother, who had a wild streak of her own and was more than willing to indulge Kai in adventures. A lot of Kai’s early memories were spent out exploring dozens of local nature trails her, baking sweets for the entire pack, and spending the day at the local art supply store to encourage his love of drawing and sketching. In those moments, he learned about werewolf and pack life naturally, outside of textbooks and lectures, and decided from an early age that he would never join his father’s pack.
As they aged and matured, one thing became clear: Kaiden was a natural leader, with an electric sort of personality that drew people in, and Kallen just wasn’t. Kai was constantly in trouble at school for pranking his teacher, running amok in the classrooms, and convincing his classmates to get in on the action. He lettered in football and lived out the high school dreams that mirrored popular teen movies. Kai had popularity and infamy at his local school, a steady stream of girl and boyfriends available, a large friend group, and a good life. He rarely spent time around the pack and his father if he could help it, and he was happier for it.
Kai’s father actively demonstrated his disappointment in him as he got older but he never took it to heart; Kal was the golden boy, after all, and the one who was saddled by fate with their father’s unrealistic expectations. And Kai? He was a wildcard, a free spirit, and he would not be tethered to a pack that barely acknowledged his existence outside of “the alpha’s son” or “the future alpha’s brother”. Their father’s disappointment towards Kal was much more private and a heavy sort of tension that filled their house during his teenage years. Although not as close as when they were young kids, Kai loved his brother and always made time for him; the boys would disappear a couple times a month into an adventure of their own, outside of the watchful gaze of the pack, littering the back of Kal’s truck with cheap beer cans as they existed outside of any forced expectations of greatness.
And then Kallen came of age. As the eldest son of the alpha, his activation of the curse was scheduled around his twenty-fifth birthday if it didn’t happen accidentally before then. The entire thing felt cruel, scheduling the death of someone, and the weeks up to the ceremony were tense and awful. Kai found himself crashing on friends couches just to avoid being home, unable to sleep in his own bed due to the heavy emotions around the Amari house. The night before Kal’s ceremony, he showed up at the couch Kai was currently surfing on, their pickup packed to the brim, and asked him to leave town with him. Kai never hesitated. He had already graduated high school and was working at a local tattoo shop after interning there, but had no other obligation to town besides his mother. He broke up with his girlfriend via text, climbed through his window to grab his letterman and a couple of other relics of his childhood, and hit the road.
They drove through the night and made it to Ohio by breakfast time. From there, the brothers lived week to week in different towns, cities, and areas. Kal had amassed a large savings account that Kai had no idea about, and it funded their road trip throughout the country. He kept in contact with his mother, of course, updating them vaguely after they had cleared an area and were already onto the next stop. Kal seemed like a new person without their father bearing down on him, and their bromance re-kindled on the road as they were allowed to just exist, carefree and young and stupid.
Until the accident. Kai doesn’t talk about how he was triggered, or even mention a having a brother, but one day they were on their way some festival inside Salem, and the next day they were werewolves. The activation of the curse brought up a lot of old feelings and drama, and Kai knew that his brother had changed in more ways than one. It only took a couple of weeks before Kal left him a note, an envelope full of cash, and a broken heart. He had left in the middle of the night, again, to return to their family.
Kai was furious. He allowed his anger to crackle at his bones and it kept him in wolf form for almost a month. Every time he tried to change back to his human form the rage simmered and stoked something in him that was too emotional and human to feel on two legs. He kept the money, spiteful but not stupid, and travelled to Atlantic City. After using his wolf senses to cheat his way through a casino, he had enough money to try to settle down and start over. Living life on the road lost its luster without his brother, and he was tired of feeling so angry.
New Orleans had meant to be a boozy pit stop to drown his sorrows in. Kai quickly fell in love with the city, especially the gritty, messy parts that escaped the light shed on the city by tourism. He was charmed, and for the first time in too long felt compelled to stay somewhere longer than a week or two. Kai avoided the supernatural scene for as long as possible, but the city was chalk full of power struggles, turf wars, and aimless wolves that needed taken care of even in times of “peace”.
Kai caused a lot of fights when he first arrived. After nearly coming to blows with a vampire that looked at him the wrong way, a strange offer had been given: a membership at a local boxing club. The 9 Round became a healthy way for Kai to try to channel his rage and aggression, and he soon became a staple member at the club and improved some of his inter-species relations. Kind of.
Despite the his decades of struggles, Kai was an alpha’s son, born to lead, and the draw of pack life eventually called to him. Leadership fit him like a glove, and after a messy battle with a complacent alpha, Kai found himself in charge for the first time in his life.
Kal had continued to wire him money after the betrayal, and Kai hadn’t touched any of it until he needed it. It was enough for him to start is own business, Moonlight Ink, in one of the grungier parts of town. During the first couple of months Kai lived in the storage loft above the business to save money. A natural artist, the shop quickly grew popular with locals. Kai had the unfair advantage of werewolf senses, and his line work, shading, and inventive techniques soon gained infamy in the area. They were known specifically for glow in the dark tattoos, using non-traditional mediums, and insane geometric line work that could nearly cross eyes. The parlor had to move to house enough chairs for additional artists and clients into a nicer part of town.
Kai laid down roots, and the city responded with a love he hadn’t felt in a long time. No longer on the run, he could openly converse with his mother and old friends from town. His father never cared much for him, after all, and why would he start now with the golden boy home? He had grown immensely since his arrival. No longer a child, or in his brother’s shadow, he could hype up his pack brothers and sisters without making any of the mistakes of his father. All of Kai’s mistakes were definitely his own, and usually a result of his awful temper. His pack was his family, his new, chosen family that he could keep from fucking up, and he took his responsibility very seriously. That didn’t mean that he would be a stick in the mud alpha, though. After all, what was life without a little bit of chaos and blood?

HE DOESN’T KNOW WHY - CRACK UP
Your mother always told you to stay away from wolves, wolves like the Logan family who always seemed to be up to no good. It was only natural as a local farmer, you had to protect your livestock. Farmers just weren’t in the company of befriending werewolves.
A/N: Wow this update is long overdue! Sorry about the wait, some things in the story ended up taking a little bit of a different direction and of course life gets in the way. Also warning for talk of smut and angst!
The drive back to the farm was mostly quiet besides Clyde’s low humming to a Bob Seger song, he glanced at you every so often with a dreamy smile on his face. He was lovestruck, his heart so full it could burst - with all of his feelings for you pouring out. He let out a sigh as he pulled into your driveway, he had to look over at you again just to make sure that you were there.
The moon was almost full, he felt on edge. He didn’t know if it was because the way you lit his skin on fire or because he was itching for a shift. There was just a deep part of him that craved relief, release.
Clyde shut his eyes after he put the car in park, he took a greedy breath to taste your scent in the air. Sweet like pie, but heady from arousal. You felt such intense need for him, you wanted to whine.
You were tugging Clyde along gently as you held his hand, easily slipping your fingers around his. You had so many things to say to him yet none of them came to mind until you stepped on to your creaky porch.
“You didn’t have to do any of this,” You shake your head.
You didn’t know how to repay him. Clyde however disagreed.
“Yes farmgirl, I did,” Because you needed it. “I know humans are different-but we, at least my family, we take care of our own,” His voice deepened, his eyes dark as he took a step closer to you.
“I know,” You frowned. You’d been hearing a lot of that talk lately, except Clyde seemed to phrase it in a way that was much more possessive. “I just don’t see what’s so bad about that, about your kind.”
Clyde’s eyes softened, he always seemed to loom over you but with one look he made himself small. His hand squeezed yours and your eyes met his. “Then let me take care of ya sweetheart, please.”
He needed to take care of you. Whether it was just sharing sweet kisses and holding you tight or fucking you until you came undone on his cock, he’d do anything that you needed from him.
“Okay,” Your voice was quiet.
Clyde let out a shaky breath, okay. This was it. He’d show you his love that he’d kept hidden deep away. It was time.
It was a collision of limbs as Clyde kissed you on the couch, much more salaciously than at the park. He didn’t hold back his groans, his fervent praise as he whispered your name. He nuzzled against your skin, pressing his nose against your neck as he took in a desperate breath. You smelled so good to him, you always smelled good. But now, you were starting to smell like him, and that was even better.
You felt like you were flying, kissing him was like nothing else. His touch was electric, the rough callouses of your fingertips making you keen for more of him. You were completely breathless, “I don’t understand-why? Why does it feel so good? I feel so hot,” You pant.
Even as you tried to pull away Clyde pulled you closer, clinging to you possessively. His hand was clutching the fabric of your dress by your hip, exposing your thigh. You sounded so needy, what he wouldn’t give to put his mouth on your sweet cunt and make you moan for him. His hot breath fanned your cheek, leaning closer to nuzzle you there. With a sigh he pulled away to explain.
“Feels good cause it’s just right sweetheart, s’right that it’s you and me together.” His brown eyes seemed to glow as he spoke. You felt like you were finally coming to your senses. He was still a wolf, a Logan. Much more than just a man.
You shook your head, you couldn’t...what he was implying, it could never work. You couldn’t be with a Logan like that, you were already risking it all just by hiring him. “You know I can’t Clyde.” The distance between you and Clyde grew.
He frowned, not liking the distance. Already his heart was hurting. He didn’t understand, you seemed so happy before, with him. He thought that he had showed you that he was more than your family said he would be, that you wouldn’t let them hold you back. “Why?” His eyes were sad, voice low and quiet.
It made you feel like you just gave the wrong answer, but the pressure of your farm weighed heavy on your heart. Your next words seemed to flow without any thought to them. “Because, if we’re together I lose the farm. It could never work Clyde, if I’m with you I lose not just my farm but my family and I don’t know if I can do that.”
Clyde’s frown deepened, he could see you were hurting but so was he and it didn’t change the fact that you were long. You’d always have a family, maybe not the one you were raised by but he and his siblings would be there for you. “We could start a new farm,” His said desperately. He inched closer to you, taking your hand. He was trying so hard not to lose you.
“With what money?” You fought back, you knew Clyde wasn’t exactly swimming in cash.
“Well Jimmy and I-we can. We can figure somethin’ out farmgirl.” Clyde felt panic rising in his chest. You were right, he didn’t have the money. He just helped Mellie pay for her cosmetology school too, and his savings were pretty much dry.
“You know I can’t ask you to do that Clyde, it would be better if we just kept things professional.” You looked away from him, your voice distant.
Clyde growled, “Professional? I don’t think so sweetheart.” He was being pushier then he normally would be and he knew it, but he didn’t know if he could go back to that after kissing you, after everything you’ve done together. Maybe it was the alpha in him, the fighter determined not to let you go.
You couldn’t even look at him, “Then maybe this won’t work.” You felt guilty, but you know if you tried to have something real with Clyde, something much more serious - at least one of you was going to get hurt.
Oh, he wasn’t having that. “Fuck farmgirl, ya were just moanin’ for me and sayin’ how it ‘feels so good’. Now ya wanna give that all up, for what? A family that doesn’t care about ya, let you love who you wanna love?” His voice was rough, angry, his hand curling around yours tightly.
His words hit a nerve, you felt tears in your eyes. You let out a gasp for air, his hand was gripping yours with such strength it was starting to hurt. You had never seen Clyde upset like this before. It seemed he could be just as stubborn.
There was something else that Clyde knew that you did not. That he was very much in love with you, and while this sort of all consuming passionate love could fade over time, he’d never truly lose that feeling. The urge to keep you held, safe and loved, it was too strong to let you go so easily. To let you hurt him like that without saying anything about it, he knew you were hurting yourself too.
So as he took a deep breath, Clyde gently maneuvered you back into his arms, holding you tight as you began to cry. “Please, I don’t want to get hurt-I don’t want you to get hurt.
He only held you tighter, breathing in your scent to try and calm his rapidly beating heart. “And I won’t let either of those things happen sweetheart,” He reassured you.
But, Clyde wasn’t all that lucky. He was so caught up in you, in the melancholy scent of your fresh tears, the shallow sounds of your breath, he didn’t notice the car pull up. He didn’t hear your father’s heavy boots crunching on gravel, the headlights of his truck as he buried his face in your hair. He didn’t smell the distinct scent of metal and gunpowder, the sour stench of aggression. He missed all of those things, so caught up in you and when your father arrived there was no chance to hide.
“You! What the fuck is a Logan, a fuckin’ werewolf! Doing on my farm?” Your father yelled, making you jump. You tried to get away from Clyde, but with the way that your father was hurling accusations he was on the defense. And as far as he was concerned this was not a safe situation for you to be in. He holds you tighter in his lap, a protective arm over your waist.
“Father please, let me explain. He’s not-don’t talk to him like that,” You squeezed your eyes shut and shake your head.
“Oh so you’re on his side now? Little slut, so easily tricked by sweet words. What did you let him do huh?” Your father turned back to Clyde. “What did you do to my daughter?”
Clyde stood up now, his chest puffed up with aggression and his shoulders tense. He blocked your father from you in a protective stance. “I’ve kept her safe.” I’ve loved her like you couldn’t. He said in his thoughts.
“From what? The only danger around here is you Clyde, and you’ve just shown me that my daughter can’t handle running this farm. Not if she resorts to colluding with your disgusting kind.”
You cringed at your father’s words. He had no idea how wrong he was. “I have been handling things just fine, Clyde has helped a great deal around here. He’s a natural.”
Clyde looked back at you and smiled softly, your defense of him made his heart feel warm. You still cared for him, despite your fight earlier. He was happy to hear you stand up for yourself. You got up from the couch to stand next to him, crossing your arms.
Your father huffed in frustration, “If your mother heard you talking like that-about that monster…” He whistled lowly. “You should take that back daughter. Before I take back what we gave you.” He threatened.
“But you’re wrong! He’s not a monster.” You were yelling now too, Clyde’s hand comforting you as he squeezed your shoulder. He felt the hair on the back of his neck tingle as your father threatened you, a growl in his chest.
Your father just laughed, to him you were still just a little girl. Too foolish to see what a huge mistake you were making. Guess it was time for him to teach you a lesson. Pulling out a gun he turned off the safety, pointed it at the beast that stood before him, “Now, honey-if your Logan friend doesn’t leave the property in the next five minutes I start shooting.”
Clyde’s eyes widened, your father was serious. And he could smell silver too, one bullet and it’d be the end. But, maybe he could disarm him. He was pretty strong, he wouldn’t have enough time to transform and something like that could make your father pull the trigger. No, it wouldn’t be worth the risk. He needed to get you out of here safely, above all.
Your father didn’t miss the way that Clyde looked at you, “If ya take my daughter with you I’ll shoot both of ya in the back.”
“Clyde, please go,” You cried. You couldn’t have him getting killed on your behalf.
He looked back at you, lips parted as if he wanted to say something but couldn’t find the words. “Don’t worry Clyde, I won’t hurt your precious mate.” Your father taunted him. Clyde clenched his jaw, his hand fisting at his side as he stared down at the floor. If he stayed, he’d die. If you left with him, you’d both die. If he tried to pull something, he knew your father would pull the trigger. He couldn’t bare for you to get hurt, there had to be some other way to get you out of this place. But he couldn’t do it on his own.
You were unfamiliar with your father’s choice of words, but you had a feeling he was talking about you. Still, why was he just standing there? “You have to go!” Your voice was desperate.
Clyde gave you one last look before he left, a reassuring smile with sad eyes. He’d come back for you. You’d have to know that, he’d be back.

Your request gave me the idea to include your prompt as a part of my Mates series. I've already done one with Liam and Brett. I've always wanted to do other "Mates" imagines for other characters, but never had an idea for it. Lucky, your request sparked something for a Theo “Mates” imagine. I hope you don't mind and enjoy what I came up with. 😊
Also, keep in mind this an AU imagine. There are some unrealistic stuff and changes from episodes from Season 5 and 6. These modifications were made to fit with the request/storyline.
[My Teen Wolf Master List]
Theo and Y/N each laid down on a cold steel rolling bed with their legs and arms strapped with chains. They were under anesthesia as The Dread Doctors hovered over their open chests. The Dread Doctors had been operating on them for hours, trying to create the perfect chimeras with the hope of resurrecting The Beast.
Theo killed his sister by pushing her into a creek and letting her die from hypothermia. Y/N knew exactly what her best friend was doing. In fact, she stood by him and watched Tara die. It's not that Tara deserved it; it was the fact that The Dread Doctors showed up and told Theo his sister wanted his heart. Theo didn't want to die. Instead of letting them kill him, he decided to kill his sister and let the doctors give Theo her heart. When Theo showed up with Y/N, The Dread Doctors saw the pair and changed their minds. They had something else in mind; two chimeras are better than one, especially with the potential of becoming mates. The Dread Doctors were familiar with the mythology of mates and hoped these two best friends would eventually become mates. The two would be stronger together and have special abilities normal supernatural creatures wouldn't have. Together they would be unstoppable.
One doctor worked on Theo while another one worked on Y/N. They worked on putting half of Tara’s heart with their half. Normally, this was physically impossible. However, The Dread Doctors made it possible with the experiments they’ve been working on and creating in their laboratory. The last doctor observed and monitored them, making sure everything would go smoothly.
When the doctors did their final stitch after closing Theo and Y/N’s chests, they stood back and stared at them. Within a matter of minutes, the anesthesia began to wear off and the best friends became animated. They let out a loud roar as their eyelids flew wide open, revealing electric yellow, glowing eyes. They showed off their sharp canine teeth as they growled at The Dread Doctors.
"Successful," The Dread Doctors said in unison in their distorted voices as Theo and Y/N snarled while yanking on the chains, ready to break free and cause havoc.
Shortly after Theo and Y/N became chimeras, they enrolled at Beacon Hills High School, where they planned to find Theo's old friend, Scott McCall. They both knew he was a true alpha. They had a plan to become part of his pack, gain the pack’s trust, and have Theo kill Scott for his True Alpha powers to defeat The Beast. The best friends had no clue The Dread Doctors had created them with hopes of them becoming mates. Nor did they know they might not need Scott’s powers to defeat The Beast. Sure it would help, but the second the two would become mates, no one – not even The Beast – stood a chance against them. The Dread Doctors left out that small piece of information, in case they weren't mates after all. If they didn’t become mates, their plan to defeat The Beast would still work with Theo stealing Scott’s alpha powers.
It had been a month since they started attending BHHS, but nothing seemed to have been working, at least for Y/N. No one in Scott's pack trusted her. Hell, they barely trusted Theo. Except, she felt like she wasn't getting anywhere while Theo was slowly making progress. She was starting to think maybe she shouldn't have followed Theo to Beacon Hills. Maybe she was better off helping and working with The Dread Doctors in their underground lab.
Theo stopped in his tracks after getting out of the truck. He turned around to look at Y/N who was just getting out of the truck and closing the door behind her with a gloomy look on her face. Theo could smell her emotions. She was sad, but he didn't know why. Except, he noticed something he hadn't before. He was sad too. He felt her sadness washing over his body and he didn't understand why or how that was possible.
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked as he walked up to her.
"Nothing," she mumbled as she slung her book bag over her shoulder and smoothed out her jean skirt, avoiding eye contact.
"Don't lie to me," he said as he grabbed her wrist and tugged on it. She sighed and looked up at him. She didn't know why she lied to him when she knew he would hear it. She looked into his blue eyes. They were filled with concern as he scanned her eyes for answers.
"It's nothing, really. It's just me being stupid," she fibbed before biting her bottom lip.
"It's not nothing," Theo shook his head as he took a step closer towards her, making sure no one in the parking lot would hear him. "I can literally feel your emotions,” he whispered.
"Feel?" Y/N pulled back with her eyebrows furrowed. "Is that supposed to happen?" She whispered only for him to hear.
"I don't know, but that's not the point.” He brushed it off, not thinking much of it. "What's wrong?" He asked sternly, almost demanding an answer from her.
Y/N sighed. "How long do you think this will take?" Theo looked at her confused, wondering what exactly she was referring to. When he said nothing, Y/N continued, "they don't trust me. Hell, they don't even like me, Theo. What's the point in sticking around?"
"Hey," his voice became softer as he grabbed her hand and squeezed it. "We're getting one step closer everyday. It may not seem like it, but we're slowly making progress."
Y/N shook her head. "No, you’re making progress. I'm not. I feel so useless, Theo. Like I'm not doing my part, and when I try to make the effort, it seems like it's not good enough. Like I’m not good enough. What if they," she referred to The Dread Doctors, "think I'm a failure and decide to be done with me too?"
Theo shushed Y/N before pulling her in for a tight hug. The more she talked about how she felt, the more he felt it. He felt scared, worried, and sad because that's what she was feeling. Again, he didn't understand how this was possible. He wanted it to go away. He wanted to make sure she understood how important she was, especially to him.
"I need you, okay?" He whispered against her ear. She nodded. Theo's muscles relaxed, allowing Y/N's to also. He pulled back to look at her with his arms still around her. "Look, I'm supposed to go to Scott's house tonight to read the book. You could show up and say something came up, so I sent you since I couldn’t make it. You could help them figure it out."
"I do know the book like the back of my hand," she smiled.
"Exactly." Theo smirked back at her. "You know it better than I do. Once Scott and his pack see how valuable you are, you'll be in his pack with me in no time."
The first bell rang, signaling everyone to get to his or her first class. Even though Theo didn’t feel as sad as before because she wasn’t feeling sad anymore, he still felt the need to check on her. "Are you feeling better now?"
"Yup.” She gave him a small and warm smile. "I have an amazing best friend who knows how to cheer me up."
Theo chuckled as they walked towards the school's science building. "Come on, let's get to AP Biology."
A lot has changed over the past few weeks. Theo joined the lacrosse team and Y/N made the cheerleading squad. They both thought it would bring them closer to the McCall pack, which did happened. They were slowly tearing Scott’s pack apart, and Scott and his friends hadn’t noticed it yet. To the pack, everything was falling apart. To Theo and Y/N, everything was going as planned. In a couple of nights, Theo would kill Scott for his alpha powers.
Through all of this, Theo and Y/N were closer than ever before. Eventually, they figured out they could feel each other’s emotions; but they couldn’t figure out why or how it was possible. This new ability made it possible for them to understand each other better. Whenever Y/N was feeling down, Theo felt it and he would immediately cheer her up. Whenever Theo was annoyed or upset, she would be the one to quickly calm him down, anchoring him. Even though they felt what the other was feeling, they never mentioned it to each other. They simply brushed it off, thinking it was just one of the perks of being a chimera.
Even though things were good between the best friends, Y/N couldn’t stand one person who kept trying to get in the way, Tracy. Theo has had girlfriends and random hook ups before. It never bothered her before, but the more she saw Tracy make a pass at Theo, the more jealous she got. She would lie to herself saying she didn't have feelings for him, and she was only worried about possibly losing her best friend. However, it was obvious to Theo that Y/N didn’t like Tracy. Truthfully, he enjoyed it a little too much. He even managed to flirt back with Tracy a couple of times just to see Y/N turn green with envy.
"Hey, Y/N!" Tracy beamed with joy in her practice cheerleading uniform as she passed Y/N in the hallway.
Y/N rolled her eyes as she spun the dial to open her locker. "Hey, Tracy," she said with less enthusiasm. Y/N turned around to see Tracy making her way toward Theo’s locker at the end of the hall, swaying her hips more than she needed to in those short cheerleading shorts.
What does she want now? Y/N thought to herself.
Down the hall, Theo's head snapped away from his locker and looked back at Y/N at the sound of her voice. He noticed she was too busy getting her gym bag out of her locker to have said something. He shrugged it off, thinking he was hearing things.
"Hey, Theo." Tracy said with a huge smile, as she got closer to him. Knowing Y/N was just down the hall possibly listening in, his lips formed a smirk as his eyes roamed over her body. She was in a maroon sports bra and matching short shorts that said Beacon Hills Cheerleading on the bottom right side. Since she became a chimera, she's become more confident in herself. She was no longer a shy girl.
"Hey, Tracy," Theo said as he pulled out his gym bag from his locker and closed the locker door.
"I wanted to see you before practice."
Y/N couldn't help but overhear their conversation. She began to switch books out from her backpack and her locker just to stall.
"What's up?" Theo asked.
"Well, you know how the big game is tomorrow?" She twirled a strand of hair around her finger.
Theo chuckled. "Yeah."
"Since the cheerleaders are doing this new rally girl ritual with the lacrosse team, I was wondering if I could be your rally girl tomorrow? You know, I would wear your jersey during school, decorate your locker, and bring you goodies?"
"No one has asked me,” his eyes flickered to Y/N for a second. She didn’t react to Tracy’s request, which he thought was weird. He felt jealous, which meant she was jealous, but she wasn’t showing it. For a split second, Theo thought maybe Y/N wasn’t jealous anymore and it was his emotions that were getting in the way. He wanted her to feel something. He wanted her to react to a girl asking to be his rally girl when it should be her.
Theo let out a small sigh of defeat before looking back at Tracy. “Yeah. That sounds good."
Y/N froze as her heart dropped. The cheerleaders made this new ritual last week and the lacrosse team was familiar with the new tradition that would start with this week’s game. However, Y/N didn't bring it up to Theo because she assumed she would be his rally girl. She already had everything planned out. She bought everything she needed to decorate his locker, and she had planed to make his favorite double chocolate chip cookies later this evening. She felt like a fool for thinking she didn't have to ask him, but more importantly, she didn't think he would say yes to another girl.
Y/N closed her locker door and turned around to see Theo pull out his away jersey from his gym bag and hand it over for Tracy to wear tomorrow.
"I find it hard to believe someone from the squad hasn't asked the hottest lacrosse player on the team yet," she giggled.
Whore.
Theo's head snapped at Y/N and she saw him staring at her in shock. Her eyes widened like a deer caught in headlights. She was wondering if it was possible that he had read her mind or something.
Shit. Shit. Shit. She quickly turned around and rushed towards the girls' locker room to change for practice.
Theo couldn't help the smirk on his face as he realized his best friend was still jealous. However, he was now more confused than he was before. He knew he could feel her emotions, but he didn’t understand why he could and why he was the only one that could feel her feelings. Now, he was starting to hear her thoughts. He couldn’t figure out the logic. All he knew was they were somehow connected, and to him, that’s all that mattered.
The next morning Tracy and Theo stood in front of his locker. He was wearing his maroon home jersey, with black jeans and a pair of white Vans. Tracy wore his white away jersey with a short jean skirt and a pair of maroon with white polka dots Keds. They were laughing about a silly joke Theo said while eating the double chocolate chip cookies she had baked for him.
The double doors to the hallway flung opened as Y/N walked in, grabbing everyone's attention. She had Liam Dunbar's white jersey on. She had pulled the jersey from the back, twisted it, and tied it with a hair tie before tucking it in back in to show off some skin. She wore tight black skinny jeans that hung low on her hips, and a pair of black high knee boots, which made a loud, clicking sound after every step she took. Her long hair was curled, giving it a nice beach wave look. Her make-up was light and natural, showing off her beautiful face with a nice shade of cotton pink lipstick.
Girls glared at her and silently called her mean names as she walked down the hallway with a Tupperwear box in her hands. The boys on the other hand, couldn’t help but drool over her as she passed by. A couple of them even cat-called at her, earning a smirk from Y/N. As much as she was enjoying the attention, she couldn’t help but feel a combination of jealously and anger, but she didn’t let it show. She knew exactly where those feelings were coming from and she wasn’t about to let Theo ruin her good mood. She actually felt good about herself, confident, especially knowing Theo was getting more pissed off as she walked right by him and straight to Liam.
"Mornin' cutie." She leaned in and pressed her lips to Liam's cheek in front of his locker. She pulled back and noticed she had left a set of pink lips on his cheeks. "Oops," she giggled as she slowly wiped it off with her thumb.
Liam swallowed hard. "Th-that's o-okay," he stammered.
"I brought you some brownies," she lifted up the Tupperwear container in her hands. She peeled the lid off, the aroma of the freshly baked brownies instantly filling their nostrils.
"You smell great," Liam's eyes widened as he realized his mistake. "I mean they smell great," he mentally facepalmed for being so smooth.
Theo let out a small and low growl. Y/N looked behind Liam's shoulder to see him pissed off. Her muscles tightened and her body began to wash over with rage, yet she didn't let it get to her. She could smell Theo's jealousy from a mile away causing her to enjoy Theo turning greener by second.
Theo didn't understand what was going on or why Liam agreed to let Y/N be his rally girl. He had no idea Y/N even had an interest in Scott’s beta. Truthfully, he thought Liam had a thing for Hayden.
Y/N's eyes flickered to Liam's locker. She had covered it with maroon paper. In the center of the locker was a huge nine painted in white with 'Dunbar' written on top in perfect block letters. She drew silver stars scattered throughout the door. At the bottom, she painted a cheerleading megaphone, signed with a black pen, 'Love, Y/N'.
"Do you like your locker?" She asked batting her long eyelashes with a smile.
"I love it."
Theo looked back at his locker, one that had Easter colored flowers bordered around his locker door with red and pink hearts cutouts taped all over. It looked more like a Valentine's Day theme than it did for a game day.
"My jersey looks good on you. You should wear it more often," Liam said after finally having the courage to say something without stammering.
Theo heard what Liam said and snapped his head back in their direction. Suddenly feeling more jealous than before because Theo was ready to rip Liam’s head off, Y/N smirked and leaned in, ghosting her lips against the shell of Liam's ear. "You should see me without it."
Liam swallowed hard when she pulled back to look at him. "How about after the game?"
What the fuck? Theo thought to himself. Who does Liam think he is for hitting on my girl?
Y/N's smile disappeared as she leaned to the side and looked at Theo with wide eyes. Theo swallowed hard.
Did you hear that? He thought to himself, testing to see if Y/N somehow read his mind.
She nodded. I heard it loud and clear, she thought.
Theo's eyes grew wide as he heard her talking back to him with her mind. He handed the bag of cookies back to Tracy before rushing towards Y/N, ignoring Tracy asking him where he was going. He grabbed the Tupperwear container from Y/N's hands and shoved it towards Liam's chest. Before Liam could say or do anything, Theo grabbed Y/N's arm and pulled her out of the hallway and towards his truck in the student’s parking lot.
Y/N didn't say a word as she quickly kept up with his pace and got in the truck. Theo sped across town to his house, neither of them saying a word. Mixed emotions of anger, jealously, worry, and fear filled the truck, creating a thick tension between the two. They each had their own feelings, and feeling the other's emotions was starting to become overwhelming.
"Theo-" Y/N said when he finally pulled up in his driveway, but she quickly stopped herself when Theo got out of the truck. Y/N watched him walk around his truck and open the door for her. He said nothing, making Y/N confused.
Theo gave her a 'well, are you going to get out?' look. "I don't have time for your games. Get inside we need to talk,” he said sharply with authority.
Y/N sighed as she slowly got out of the truck and made her way to the front door. Theo grabbed the knot she had done with Liam’s jersey and removed the hair tie, making the jersey fall to her mid-thighs. "Take that ridiculous thing off," he said as he opened the front door.
She rolled her eyes as she walked up to her bedroom, just across from Theo's upstairs. "Whatever."
"What the hell is your problem?" Theo snapped.
"My problem?!" Y/N turned around to face him with an angry look. "You're my problem!"
"What the hell did I do?!"
Y/N bit her lip back, realizing she was suddenly feeling stupid for thinking she had feelings for someone who wouldn't return them. Her shoulders dropped. "Never mind, Theo. Just..." she trailed and shook her head. "Leave me alone."
Sadness washed over Theo's body, but he had no reason to be sad. He was furious. He was mad at Y/N for flirting with Liam. When he saw Y/N's demeanor change, he knew she was the one that was sad, not him. Again, he felt what she was feeling.
"Hey," he said softly as he grabbed her wrist, preventing her from walking away from him. His thumbs traced small circles on her wrist, trying to soothe her. "Why are you sad?"
She looked at him confused. "I'm not," she lied, mentally cursing herself knowing Theo heard her lying heart.
"Liar. I can feel it,” he said. She gave him a confused look. "I can feel how sad you are right now, Y/N. I felt how jealous you were with Tracy yesterday, and now I'm hearing your thoughts. I don't know what's going on, and it's definitely weird, but none of that is important right now.” He let out a small sigh. “Why are you sad, Y/N?"
She swallowed hard as she looked into his beautiful worried eyes. "Probably for the same reasons you were jealous and mad when I was with Liam."
"Y/N-"
She shook her head, signaling Theo to stop talking. "I know we're just best friends, but lately it feels different. I feel closer to you, like somehow our bond is stronger and far more beyond that, like it’s deeper somehow. It started with feeling how you felt and now I'm hearing what you're thinking. I don't know other than it feels different... like my feelings for you are different."
Theo could hear her heartbeat racing; he felt his blood rushing through his veins because hers was doing the same thing, and fear washing over her body as she admitted her feelings. Her heart dropped as he cupped her cheeks. His eyes scanned her features before flickering down to her eyes, then to her parted lips. She stopped breathing, too scared to know what was about to happen next. His warm breath fanned against her lips, sending a shiver down her spine, which he felt too. He couldn't help but smirk before he closed the distance with his lips.
It was slow and sweet, as most first kisses were. Y/N wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling his chest to hers. Theo's hand slowly slid down to her neck, over her shoulders, and along her spine before resting them on her lower back. Theo traced her bottom lip with his tongue, asking for permission. She granted his wish, letting their tongues explore one another. Y/N moaned against his mouth as her hand slid in his dark, silky hair. Theo's hand slid down to her ass. Her breath hitched when he squeezed her butt cheek hard. They both pulled back, breathing heavy as their chests rose and fell against each other’s.
Theo cupped her cheek again, tracing her bottom, swollen lip with his thumb before his eyes flickered back to hers. "No more, okay?"
Y/N's heart sank, thinking Theo might have thought their passionate and heated kiss was a mistake.
I knew he didn't like me back, she thought to herself.
Theo heard her and immediately shook his head. "I do like you, Y/N. In fact, I love you. I just meant, no more Tracy or Liam. No more games. No more making the other one jealous, because you're mine and I'm yours, okay?"
Y/N's heart fluttered against her chest excitedly at his words. She nodded before cupping his cheek and pulling him in for another deep and passionate kiss. Without breaking the kiss, she walked backwards, pulling him with her until her back thudded against her bedroom door. Theo pressed his body against hers, making Y/N moan in his mouth. Her hands slid around his waist, to his lower back, and over his ass, pushing him forward. Theo growled as hips pressed against hers. His hands slid down to the back of her knees and lifted her up, guiding her legs to be wrapped around his waist. Y/N's fingers slid through the softness of his dark, silky hair, while her other hand reached down for the doorknob to open the door. Theo walked in and closed the door with his foot before locking it behind him.
Theo and Y/N's naked bodies were pressed against one another underneath the sheets. Theo played with her fingers as his lips trailed up her exposed shoulder with soft, small wet kisses. His lips stopped right before the bite mark he left. He pulled back and examined it. She hissed when he ran his finger over it. Theo’s eyebrows furrowed together. “I wonder why it’s not healing yet.”
“I have no idea, but I’m pretty sure it will soon. Maybe it’s just taking a while because you bit me kind of hard,” she shrugged as if it’s no big deal.
“I couldn’t help myself.” Theo’s lips formed a smirk before he leaned in and kissed her. “I wanted to mark you to make sure everyone knows you’re my girl.”
Y/N leaned into his warm touch with a smile on her face. "I love it when you call me your girl."
Theo's arm wrapped around her waist and pulled her closer. He stole a kiss - a long, deep, and passionate kiss. Y/N smiled halfway through it, enjoying his soft lips against hers and the butterflies he released in the pit of her stomach.
"You have always been my girl," Theo whispered against her lips. His warm breath sent a shiver down her spine, and Theo couldn't help but smirk feeling the effect he gave her as a shiver ran down his spine too. His smile faltered a little as he cupped her cheek and gazed into his favorite pair of eyes. "I love you, you know that right?" She nodded. "And I'd do anything to protect you, right?"
She nodded again as she cupped his cheek. "And I'd kill anyone who would so much as hurt you, Theo. I love you, too," she said knowing exactly what Theo was trying to do and say, because she felt the same way. No matter what crazy supernatural thing would be thrown at them, they would die protecting the other.
“Is everyone okay?” Scott’s eyes scanned over his pack, quickly double-checking if there were any injuries.
“Not everyone,” Theo answered as electricity sparked around his body. Theo had never done that before until he killed Josh and stole his power. He had never felt more alive and Theo couldn’t wait to kill more supernatural creatures with great abilities to steal from.
With her sword, Kira charged towards Theo. He shoots a bolt of electricity at her, but her sword prevents it from hitting and hurting her. Kira’s eyes glowed as she gritted between her teeth, “The Skinwalkers have a message for you, Theo.”
The electricity orbiting around Theo vanished as fear washed over him. Theo had a feeling what the message was and he was hoping it wouldn’t be true as it was impossible. Then, Kira uttered the words Theo never thought he’d hear. “Your sister wants to see you.” Kira stabbed her sword into the ground before it started to crack. Theo looked down, his eyes following the crack that was slowly going towards him.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the tunnels, Y/N knew there was something wrong. She felt it. She felt Theo’s fear washing over her body, only adding fear of her own. She had no idea what was going on, but she had to know if he was okay.
Theo? She thought out loud, hoping he would hear her.
Y/N! I need your help!
Where are you? She asked.
At the end of the tunnel by the south side. Hurry!
Even though she couldn’t hear the panic in his thoughts, she felt it. She picked up her pace and ran to help Theo.
Back at the end of the tunnel, Theo’s breath hitched as his eyes widened in fear when a hand appeared from the ground a few inches away from his foot. A body crawled out and looked up at Theo. His heart dropped to his stomach.
Turning around the corner, Y/N saw Scott and his pack’s backs facing her. She didn’t understand why they were just standing there when she felt her heart drop to her stomach because Theo’s did. She didn’t know what was going on, but the horrible gut wrenching feeling in the pit of her stomach was telling her something terrible was about to happen.
Tara reached out and grabbed Theo, pulling him down with her as she slowly goes back underground. Theo could sense Y/N’s presence and smell her scent. He looked up to see her running towards his direction.
"Y/N!" Theo yelled as soon as Tara pulled him down. Theo fought as hard as he could, flicking his claws out to hold on to the ground.
“Scott! Help me!” Theo yelled. “Scott!”
Y/N! Help me! He thought out loud for her to hear, and she did.
Y/N pushed her way through, only to see Theo being dragged underground. “No! No! No!” Theo yelled as Tara pulled him further into the ground. He tried to grab for anything, but his claws kept slipping, as there was nothing for him to hold on to.
"Theo!" Y/N lunged forward, but was quickly held back by a pair of arms, Scott's. "Let me go!" She growled at Scott.
“Y/N! Help me, Y/N!” Theo yelled again as she continued to fight against Scott’s hold, lashing and thrashing with her arms and legs everywhere.
“No! Wait! Wait!” Theo yelled once more before he gave up. He knew what was going to happen. No one would save him and they shouldn’t either. What he hated the most was seeing the last look on Y/N’s face before Tara gave Theo a final pull towards her and into the ground.
I love you. Always remember that, baby.
“No, Theo!” She begged out loud between sobs as she heard his thoughts.
I love you, he said again just seconds before the ground closed.
Scott let go of Y/N. She rushed towards the spot where the ground had just swallowed Theo. She tried digging her nails in, hoping she could save him even though it was physically impossible. Her fingers stopped when she realized something. She no longer felt Theo’s fear. She couldn’t feel his presence or any of his chemosignals washing over her body.
Theo?
She couldn’t hear his thoughts or his heartbeat either. She knew what that meant; he was gone. She collapsed on the floor. Her cheek pressed against the cold ground as tears fell down her face. Her hand was open and pressed to the ground, hoping Theo’s hand was parallel and aligned against hers underground. She had never felt so much pain and heart ache before. She never knew what it was like to lose a loved one, but this was a bit different. She literally lost her other half, her mate.
“Y/N?” Liam whispered, as he got closer. She ignored him, unable to look at him or anyone else in Scott’s pack.
Kira cleared her throat. “Y/N, I’m sorr-“
“Don’t.” She spat at the girl who sent Theo away.
Scott stood in front of Kira, knowing how dangerous it might be to see a broken-hearted and pissed off chimera without her other half, especially since they’re the ones that sent him away. “Y/N-“ Scott said with caution.
In an instant, she snapped. She shifted, rushed towards Scott, and roared in his face. Kira and Liam moved back, but Scott stayed unfazed. He didn’t move an inch. He glowed his red alpha eyes at her, hoping to calm her down, but it didn’t. Her chest heaved and her nostrils flared as she bared her teeth at him. Her claws were out and ready to attack anyone who made one move towards her.
“You don’t want to do this.”
“I have nothing left to live for, Scott.”
“You don’t need to do this. You don’t need to be this way. You don’t need to be like him.” Scott’s words brought another wave of pain to Y/N, which slowly caused her to shift back to normal.
“Scott, you don’t understand. You will never understand until you fall in love with a werecoyote, or in your case a werewolf. What you had with Allison or have with Kira right now is nothing compared to what I had with Theo,” Y/N said as tears filled her eyes.
“Love is love-“ Scott started to explain, only to be interrupted.
“Can you hear Kira’s thoughts and communicate with her telepathically? Did you feel what Allison felt when she was with you? Or when she was slowly dying? Did you feel the pain getting lesser and lesser by the second just before she said she loved you one last time?” She knew that was a low blow, hell, a punch to the stomach, but she didn’t care. She needed to make sure Scott understood where she was coming from. “Because I could. I felt everything Theo felt. The thirst for power, his jealousy when I flirted with Liam, and the love he had for me. I heard his thoughts and we communicated telepathically, but now? Scott... I can’t anymore,” she spoke with a shaky breath as more tears flowed down her cheeks. “I can’t hear his thoughts or his heartbeat anymore. I can’t feel his fear anymore like he was seconds before the ground closed on him. The last thing he said to me was to always remember how much he loved me. He said that because he knew he wasn’t going to make it. He can’t feel this unbearable pain I have right now...” her bottom lip trembled. “He’s gone. My best friend is gone and it’s because of you.”
With her speech, everyone had tears in their eyes. They didn’t realize how connected and close Theo and Y/N were. Scott swallowed hard, “Y/N-“
She shook her head, stopping him. “As long as he’s gone, you don’t have to worry about me.”
“What do you mean?” Liam asked concerned. “Where are you going?”
“Far away from you guys. So, don’t call or text me,” she said as she walked right past them and didn’t look back. She promised herself she would never return to Beacon Hills. Without Theo around, she didn’t feel the need to stay. If she did stay, she would’ve killed Scott and his pack. As much as that’s what Theo wanted, and how angry she was with Scott and his friends, she couldn’t find it in her broken heart to do it. Instead, she got in Theo’s truck and drove off, never once looking back in the rear view mirror.
Liam looked at the ground as he tightened his hands around the sword. He understood what he was doing and Kira’s mom explained the responsibility he would have if he decided to go through with his plan. He didn’t have a choice. He had to do it. It was the only way to help Scott and bring back Stiles.
Hayden stood next to Liam. She was nervous and silently prayed he would change his mind. Even though she understood why Liam wanted to bring Theo back and thought his plan might actually work, a part of her didn’t want to see the guy who helped The Dead Doctors turn her into a chimera.
Before he could change his mind, Liam took a deep breath and stabbed the sword into the ground.
“Liam! Wait!” Hayden protested, but it was too late. The ground slowly began to crack open with a soft green glow shining through. Their eyes followed the cracks until they saw a hand shoot out from the ground before a body covered in dirt crawled its’ way out. Theo stood up and inhaled before his eyes opened, glowing yellow. He let out a small growl, revealing his sharp canines at the pair in front of him.
His eyes flickered to Liam. He was immediately filled with rage. He closed the small distance between them. Theo grabbed Liam by the collar, slammed him against the wall, and growled in his face.
“Theo!” Hayden shouted and rushed to his side. “We’re not trying to hurt you. We’re the ones that brought you back,” she said, trying to calm him down.
“Where’s my sister?” Theo asked.
Liam looked at him confused, wondering why he believed his sister was still alive. “Your sister’s dead.” Theo growled in Liam’s face, believing he was lying to him. “She died a long time ago,” Liam reassured him.
“You killed her, remember?” Hayden added. Theo’s chest rose up and down quickly, trying to catch his breath before he remembered something, or rather someone.
Y/N. He thought out loud for her to hear. His heart rate picked up when he didn’t get a response back.
Y/N, baby? Can you hear me? He tried again.
Again, nothing.
Theo assumed Scott and his pack must have done something to her. Theo tightened his grip before he looked back at Liam. “I’m gonna kill you, too. I’m gonna kill all of you.”
“Okay. Send him back.” Hayden said with fear.
“You know what this does?” Liam lifted his hand up and showed Theo the sword, who backed off knowing exactly what that sword would do to him. “We need your power to help us. Then, you can kill whoever you want. But if you do kill us, you may never see Y/N again and you’re gonna end up worse off than ever.”
Y/N? She’s still alive?
“There’s nothing worse than what I’ve been through,” Theo swallowed hard. “Where is she?”
This time Liam swallowed hard and suddenly became nervous. He didn’t know how to explain Y/N ran off three months ago and they hadn’t heard from her since. “We need to talk.”
Y/N.
Y/N tightened her grip on the steering wheel before she pulled over. She shook her head, trying to drown out her imagination. For the past three months, she thought she heard Theo’s voice, saw him wherever she went, and felt his presence, but she knew that was impossible.
She parked Theo’s truck on the side of the road. Her muscles were tight as her body was fueled with rage. She wanted to hit someone or something, but she didn’t understand why. She was driving. She wasn’t mad at anyone or at anything. Even though she was still furious at Scott and his pack, she didn’t waste her energy being mad at them or hating them. She was in too much pain to feel angry. She was heartbroken, depressed, and mourning over the loss of her other half. She spent the past three months driving around the state, trying to find another kitsune like Kira or a witch who might know a spell to bring Theo back.
Y/N, baby? Can you hear me?
“You’re not real,” Y/N mumbled to herself as she covered her ears and closed her eyes tight. “It’s all in my head.” She rocked herself back and forth, pushing away Theo’s voice. After a couple of minutes, her muscles relaxed. She took a deep breath before she opened her eyes.
Y/N? She’s still alive?
Y/N froze. She had never heard that before. Anytime she thought her mind was playing tricks on her, it was just Theo calling out her name and the cute nicknames he had for her. He never once questioned if she was still alive. He had no reason to question if she was still alive unless he was back.
“Theo...?” She whispered with a shaky breath as tears formed in her eyes. She stared ahead, focusing on the empty road in front of her. She swallowed hard and focused.
Theo? She thought out loud. Her heart was pounding against her chest and loud against her eardrums. She was afraid she might not hear him.
Y/N? You can hear me?
Yeah. She let out a small chuckle as tears rolled down her cheeks. Is it really you?
Yeah, it is. She could practically see his famous devilish smirk on his handsome face. She wishes she could see it in person.
You’re alive? He asked.
Yes. Where are you?
Scott’s.
I’m on my way. Y/N told him before she put the truck in drive and drove back to the small town she sworn she’d never go back to.
Liam, Hayden, and Theo turned around the second Scott walked into his kitchen. Scott froze the second his eyes landed on Theo, shocked to see him alive and standing in front of him.
“Somehow I don’t think we’re gonna hug this out,” Theo smirked.
Scott’s muscles tightened. “I hope you realize it’s taking all of my strength to not tear you in half right now,” he gritted between his teeth.
Malia growled as she walked in and saw Theo. He turned around to see Malia filled with rage and ready to kill him. “Hey, Malia,” he said with that stupid smirk Malia wanted to rip off. “You aren’t still upset about the whole shooting thing, are you?” He taunted.
In a split second, Malia shifted. Her eyes glowed bright blue. Her nails were replaced with sharp claws and her canine teeth were on full display as she roared and charged towards him. She lunged at him, taking him down in the process. She straddled his hips and punched him in the face. She threw punch after punch, making Theo’s nose bleed.
At the same time, Y/N pulled Theo’s truck outside of Scott’s house. She saw Liam’s beat up truck, Stiles’ Jeep, and Lydia’s car. Everyone was here. Y/N noticed the kitchen lights on as she got out of the truck. Her ears picked up someone grunting and someone throwing punches. She realized it was Theo getting beaten up as she felt the punches he was receiving. He felt sorry for himself and he had an excruciating pain around the nose area. Y/N felt it too and for a second, her eyes welled up with tears. She hadn’t felt Theo in a really long time. She missed feeling his presence and emotions.
Suddenly realizing Theo was hurt, Y/N shook it off and ran towards the back door that led to Scott’s kitchen to find Theo.
“It’s okay, you don’t have to stop,” Theo said as he took every punch Malia gave him. He didn’t want her to stop. He believed he deserved it. After everything he’s done and what his sister did to him in hell, a few punches were nothing compared to the hell he truly deserved.
“Trust me, I won’t,” Malia gritted between her clenched teeth. She swung her arm back, ready to punch Theo again. Before she punched him, Y/N opened the door and immediately saw what was going on. Theo was on the floor, bleeding and getting beaten to death by Malia. She let out a growl after she shifted. As she lunged toward Malia, grabbed her by the shoulders, and rolled her over to the floor. This time Y/N was straddling Malia’s hips. She was only seeing red. Her muscles were tight and filled with rage as her blood boiled in her veins. Theo tried to take a deep breath, but couldn’t. Even though he wasn’t getting punched anymore, he couldn’t feel any relief because he felt the rage Y/N had.
“I could kill you!” Y/N roared in Malia’s face, which was only a few centimeters away from hers.
Scott pulled Y/N off of Malia. She stumbled back and stood in front of Theo, protecting him if anyone else got near him. “He’s going back in the ground,” Scott said.
“Like hell he is!” Y/N shouted at the same time Liam yelled, “You can’t!” Everyone looked at Liam confused and wondering why he suddenly wants Theo to stay. Liam looked at Scott. “He remembers Stiles.”
Malia shook her head, already immediately disagreeing with Liam’s plan. “Scott remembers Stiles. Lydia and I remember Stiles.”
“The Dread Doctors know all about the Wild Hunt. He can help us,” Liam explained. He looked back at Y/N. “With Y/N back too, maybe they can help us.”
Scott’s eyes narrowed at Liam. “Or he could kill us.” Y/N growled at Scott. She knew her odds weren’t good if she fought against him, but she would fight like hell to protect and save Theo. She wasn’t about to lose him again.
“He’s my responsibility. Noshiko gave me the sword,” Liam argued back.
Y/N turned as she heard Theo grunting. He slowly tried to get up and sit against the wall. She quickly rushed to his side and helped him. He looked up at her and gave her a soft smile. “It’s so awkward when mom and dad fight.”
Y/N let out a small chuckle as tears filled her eyes. She cupped his cheek and brushed her thumb against his cheek. He leaned into her warm and gentle touch. Neither of them thought they would have a moment like this again. Y/N and Theo didn’t move an inch as Scott, Liam, and Malia moved into the other room to finish their argument about what to do with Theo.
“Hi,” she whispered softly. Even though she could feel him, hear his heartbeat, and see him in front of her, she was still too scared to talk. She was scared this would all be gone in a blink of any eye, only to realize it’s another cruel joke her mind is playing on her.
My girl. He thought out loud. Tears fell down her cheeks as she heard him loud and clear. Hi.
She let out a small sob as she straddled his hips, wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him in for a tight hug. Theo groaned for a spilt second, still feeling some of the pain Malia had done to him. Y/N felt the pain shooting through her body. She loosened her grip and started to pull back, but Theo stopped her as he slowly wrapped his arms loosely around her waist. He buried his face at the crook of her neck. His body relaxed as he inhaled her scent.
“I’ve missed you.” “I love you.” They mumbled at the same time. They let out a chuckle before she pulled back to look at him. “I love you too, Theo.”
Scott cleared his throat. The pair turned around to see him and everyone else staring back at them. Scott opened his mouth about to say something, but Y/N spoke first. “Scott, you’re going to have to go through me if you’re planning on sending Theo back and I promise you, I won’t hold back.”
Theo groaned as he felt his muscles tighten and the wave of anger rushing through his veins again. Y/N’s emotions were too much with the physical pain Malia had done to him. He wasn’t completely healed yet. “She’s not kidding,” Theo grumbled as he tried to ignore the pain.
Y/N tried to relax but she couldn’t. She didn’t know what Scott and his pack had decided to do with Theo, but she sure as hell wasn’t going to let them win. Not when she just got Theo back.
“He stays, but we’re chaining him up and Liam’s going to watch him.”
“He’s not a fucking dog, Scott! He’s going with me. He’s coming home with me,” Y/N said sternly.
“Y/N-“
“If you need him or us, you’ll do as I say, or I swear I’m taking him to the truck and we’re leaving. You’ll have to deal with The Wild Hunt and finding Stiles all on your own-“
“Y/N-“ Scott tried again.
“You took him away from me. I don’t owe you anything.” Y/N stared at Scott as she finished. She waited on Scott’s decision. Theo felt how nervous she was. He reached for her hand, her muscles instantly relaxing with his gentle squeeze.
“You really think you can help us?” Scott asked. Malia glared at him, wondering why he was actually considering letting Theo stay.
“I promise you, we know more about The Wild Hunt than all of you combined,” Y/N said.
“Fine. He stays and he doesn’t have to be chained up. But one wrong move, Liam won’t hesitate to send him back.”
Like hell he is, she thought.
Theo smiled. You weren’t kidding about killing anyone for me, were you, baby?
She looked back at Theo with a small smile and nodded as a response. She turned around back to Scott. “Deal.”
Y/N and Theo walked into their old house. Theo flipped the light switch. When the lights didn’t turn on, his eyebrows furrowed together, wondering what happened.
“Why-“ Theo stopped mid-sentence as he saw Y/N biting her bottom lip. He felt her emotions, a combination of hurt and pain. He looked around the house and noticed dust and a few cobwebs everywhere. He realized she hadn’t been home since he was literally dragged to hell.
Theo grabbed her hand, led her up the stairs, and into her old bedroom. He closed the door behind her and locked it. He didn’t need to. They had the whole place to themselves, but he wanted to be alone with her. He wanted to be locked in her room, pretend nothing else in the world existed but them two, and stay in their little bubble as long as possible.
She stepped closer to him, hearing his heart thundering against his rib cage. It was loud and fast. She lifted her hand slowly before placing it on his chest, above his heart. Tears welled up in her eyes. Theo placed his hand on top of hers. “I’m really here,” he whispered, having an idea of what was going through her mind without her having to say it. “I’m real.”
Theo wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her to his chest. He leaned in, brushing his nose with hers before his lips met with hers. The kiss was slow and tender. Y/N’s hand wrapped around his neck, while the other slowly ran through his hair. Theo’s hand reached for the small of her back and pulled her close to him, eliminating any space between them. The kiss became deeper, passionate, and almost desperate within seconds.
They ignored the feeling of wetness, the taste of salt on their lips, and the burning sensation in their lungs. They missed each other, their lips, their touch, their bodies pressed against each other; they missed the feeling of two souls becoming one. They missed their mate.
“Are you okay?” She immediately asked when they broke their kiss.
Theo nodded. “I am now.”
“Where were you?” Y/N felt Theo’s muscles tighten, his heart beating like crazy, and fear washing over his body. She cupped his cheek, forcing him to look at her. He was absolutely terrified. She didn’t want to bring up any nightmares. “It’s okay,” she whispered and brushed his cheek with her thumb. “It’s okay,” she repeated again and peppered every inch of his face with small, gentle kisses. “You’re not going back there, okay?”
Theo swallowed hard before he nodded. He let out a heavy sigh before resting his forehead against hers. “Promise me-“
“I promise,” she quickly said without giving him a chance to finish his sentence.
Theo’s lips formed a small smile. “You don’t even know what I was going to say.”
“It doesn’t matter,” she said as she fiddled with his hair at the nape of his neck. “I promise you everything, Theo. I promise to continue to be your best friend and your girl. I promise to always be there for you. I promise to help you shake off whatever nightmares you might have. I promise to love you wholeheartedly and unconditionally every single minute of every single day. I promise to fight beside you and not against you. I promise to never leave your side again…” she trailed for a second. She looked up and locked her eyes with his. “I promise to be your mate, forever.”
“Mate,” He chuckled at the crazy idea, but quickly became serious. His mind began to think of the possibility that maybe – just maybe – they are real mates. He’s heard and read on the mythology before. Mates: two supernatural creatures that come together as one, feel each other’s emotions, and hear each other’s thoughts. Their bond wouldn’t compare to anyone else. However, Theo never met, knew, or heard of real mates before. Looking back at his and Y/N’s supernatural journey together, it all made sense. They were mates.
His soft, beautiful eyes flickered back to hers. “Forever?” He questioned how serious she was about her last promise.
“Forever,” she promised with a kiss.

Electric Pickup Trucks: The Next Frontier of EVs_FEATURE from Test Miles on Vimeo.
Electric Pickup Trucks: The Next Frontier of EVs As electric vehicles (EVs) charge full-speed ahead, a new frontier emerges: electric pickup trucks.

‘The Beginning’
-I had the door to the truck open with my booted foot propped on it and I watched the guys working the concrete slab. It was going to be a late night and the weather was to blame for that. Here soon I would let most of the guys go home and I would stay here along with one other. Most of the men shrunk away from the nighttime hours, they had their reasons. For me, it was like being at home and I decided I’d keep the new hire with me. It seemed fitting, first off he had just started so that alone had him drawing the short end of the stick and second…there didn’t need to be a first or second, I chose it, therefore it was. That went along with being site supervisor and truth be told, it just was a part of who I was, making decisions, dolling out the jobs and making sure it gets done. I was just more used to being the main man, middle man and end game man. I preferred it that way. And as much as I wanted to stick to my recluse life, money was a vital component in this world. At first my goal was to find a job that I could get lost amongst the masses and what better field of employment to do that than construction? Every small or big city had building companies that ran from your every day handy man to commercial builds. Education was not something that I could physically show that I had. I mean yes I had traveled the world, been to places that most didn’t know existed. But I had no diplomas or degrees in hand and I never would. Although with this field it was fairly easy to get a job, know how to swing a hammer and take some orders and you were hired. It was the latter part that I battled with. I always had. I mean I was part of the Amarok breed. We traveled, hunted and lived solitary lives. We were not part of your normal wolf packs, you had an Alpha and his followers. Not so with us, we didn’t even want anything to do with our own kind, let alone anyone else. When I started with this small concrete company, it was as a laborer. I was at the bottom of the ladder but that only lasted at best a month. It was clear I knew more than just how to drill a nail in. Little did they know or would ever know, but in my past I had been part of building villages that spanned against hillsides and included roadways. And we didn’t have power tools and bobcats to assist in the process. Of course that was before electricity existed but my current or anybody for that matter, would never know my true age or origins. Even still, the point was I climbed that so called ladder and swiftly went from finisher to lead man to now being the foreman. At first I balked at the idea of it. In my head that meant I had to deal with people more, I had to be front and center more…There were just too many ‘mores’ for my liking that had to do with dealing with others. So I turned the position down and was good with sticking to being a laborer. That lasted about as long as my next piss break. The owner was a no nonsense male with a blunt mouth and a fuck you attitude. I liked the man. His name was Clint and he was one of the rare humans that I found respect for. When Clint came to me about passing up on being his supervisor, I simply told him I wasn’t the man for the job. After an hour of debating back and forth, I obviously ended up taking the position. But only under specific guidelines of mine, I ran the jobs no questions asked, no meetings and I would be doing the hiring for any guys that would be working on my job sites. Clint readily agreed and since then between him and I, it all worked like a well oiled machine. He left me alone and I got the jobs done. Enough said. Now here I was a few years later, chilling in the night air and looking forward to some quiet time. And for that to happen I needed to let the crew go. I even decided to be generous and let the new guy bail on having to stay until the pad was done. I really needed some down time so I gave a nod at Jeff who was conveniently looking at me from across the way. And on cue he called out to the rest of them to clean up and lets go. Which I knew was the reason he kept casting glances my way for the past thirty minutes. I got out of the truck, shut the door and walked to the slab while the others started walking the opposite direction. Little did they know but I craved quitting time just as much as they did, it was another one of those things that was for very different reasons.-
