Thursday, 11-21-24, 2pm Pacific
Aaaaand it's nice grey day here in The San Francisco Bay, with an atmospheric river comin' tomorrow to dump some much-needed wet stuff from the sky. It's a good day for playin' some records! Let's set the Wayback Machine for 1969 and start this afternoon with one of the only high-charting singles by future New Orleans legends The Meters. Arthur Neville on organ, and the disc was produced by none other than Allen Toussaint. Here's their "Cissy Strut" from '69.
youtube
From the same year, one of the streak of big hits by The 5th Dimension, "Workin' on a Groovy Thing".
youtube
Junior Walker and The All Stars gave us this indelible hit from '69 as well "What Does It Take (To Win Your Love)".
youtube
Canada sent us The Guess Who in the late '60s with a string of big hits from '68 through '71. When they parted ways with singer Burton Cummings, they reforned as Bachman-Turner Overdrive. But in '69, this was one of their big hits, "These Eyes".
youtube
And '69 also gave us the only charted hit by Tony Joe White, "Polk Salad Annie".
youtube
Jackie DeShannon gave us two major hits, "What The World Needs Now Is Love" and this one, "Put A Little Love In Your Heart", which she co-wrote. From 1969.
youtube
Andy Kim had a couple of hits during this period, this one being the biggest, "Baby, I Love You".
youtube
Gladys Knight and The Pips gave us this Norman Whitfield penned and produced single, urging us to get on The Freedom Train.
youtube
And Randy California and Spirit gave us their biggest hit in '69, I Got A Line On You.
youtube
We have space for one more tune today, and since we're in a 1969 timewarp, let's hear my very favorite record from '69: Mama Cass Elliot's "Make Your Own Kind of Music". This record saved my life as a "weird kid"...my copy of it is worn out. Here's a pristine transfer by the master, The 45Prof:
youtube
That wraps up this Afternoon Stack of Classic Wax! This is Mr. Baggins signing off for now; I will return this evening at 7pm Pacific with a set to soothe your achin' nerves and help ease us all into a good night.
Until then, be kind, babies, be kind.
Baggins out.

ALLEN WALKER IS A CLONE
okay, i KNOW this sounds SO FUCKING CRAZY, but hear me out.
alright, are you listening? good. i think Allen Walker is a clone for several reasons; a) his Innocence, b) Neah and the Noah memories, and c) the Second and Third Exorcists.
Reason A:
so the one theory i've seen circulating in the DGM community is that this mysterious man that the fandom has apparently dubbed "Past Allen" was deaged into the Allen we know and love. who did this? we don't know. it could have been Crowned Clown, a random wizard, or Apocryphos.
BUT! it doesn't make sense. (then again, DGM hasn't been making much sense lately, so..)
we've seen how some of the Parasite Type Exorcists get their Innocence; Krory got bit by a man-eating flower that passed it to him and Timothy had his stuffed down his throat to hide the evidence. (which is actually kinda fucked up? how exactly did his dad think he was gonna get that out? even if his Innocence would have survived that, he didn't know that! what was his plan? cut his own son up or wait for it to be shat out? i..don't think it would have, considering..)
Allen originally tells us that he was apparently born with it, though he doesn't have anyone able/willing to back that up. HOWEVER! we see (i think it was in that recent mega flashback, when Allen was telling Kanda his past) that the ringleader of his former circus did actually receive him from people he thought were his bio parents. that suggests that they looked enough like him that the ringleader didn't think twice about it!
(...anyone else thinking of Past Allen? or maybe a sibling that was in on the whole scheme?)
why i bring this up is that this ALSO suggests that Allen really WAS born with Crowned Clown. the synchronization didn't happen at a later date, and i'm pretty sure Allen was a newborn. like, MAYBE a month old. the process probably would have killed him had it happened then. why i think it didn't when he was supposedly still in the womb? his body was still developing, so it probably wouldn't have known that THAT'S NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN.
i mean, i'm not a biology nerd, but i'm pretty sure developing baby bodies don't really know what's right or wrong in the shape of the baby. like, they have instructions, but sometimes those manuals are wrong in some way and things like deformities or Down Syndrome happen. this is normal. Allen's still developing baby body probably thought this random Innocence shard was apart of it or something..
anyways, i don't know how it happened, but i do believe Allen is not Past Allen because of this. he was most likely born with it instead of deaging and picking it up somewhere along the way.
(Crowned Clown could have either snuck it's way inside Allen's container, or Past Allen purposefully put it in there. or maybe there's a secret third option i'm not thinking about.)
moving on!
Reason B:
@wearethehallowe brought up a very good point the other day; Neah's Noah memories did not exist prior to his separation of Mana.
we know that ever since the Great Flood, every human who has ever lived had dormant Noah memories in their DNA waiting to activate. this means that Past Allen should have had one of the original 13 Noah memories - not Neah's. they didn't exist by the time Past Allen was born.
so...how, exactly, did Neah pass his memories onto Past Allen?
he got Cross to help.
Cross is a necromancer. i don't know if he can manipulate souls like the Earl can, but he can definitely do things. (Grave of Maria and the reprogrammed Akuma.) he would totally be able to help pass Neah's memories onto Past Allen.
now, you might be thinking, "How does this tie into Clone!Allen?"
Neah's memories didn't exist beforehand, he had to manually put them into another person. that means Allen wouldn't have the memories in him if he was a normal human.
now, there IS a chance he actually is a normal human, and he just got the memories because Past Allen is his bio dad....
but..that doesn't really explain why he looks so similar to him. normally, a human child would look like a mixture of their parents, NOT an exact replica. yes, Allen currently does not look like him due to his hair and scar and arm, but had he not been cursed he would have looked like a twin of Past Allen's or something. i don't think that's normal in biology.
onto the next point!
Reason C:
ah, the Second and Third Exorcist projects.. you guys were NOT okay whatsoever, but you did prove something!
and that something is that artificial humans can be created and that at least ONE group knows how to make them!
now, it's pretty obvious that Allen isn't the same as Kanda or the Third Exorcists. Kanda has a weird orb in his body that keeps it together and regenerates/heals his injuries. the Third Exorcists can heal from their injuries, but can't regrow lost limbs like Kanda. Allen has not been shown to have that same ability that those with artificial bodies have - if you don't count his regenerating cursed eye and his slightly faster than average healing (i remember this being mentioned though i could be wrong).
HOWEVER! that does not mean he isn't artificial! it just means that, if he is a clone, whoever made him knew how to create artificial bodies right.
i think Cross was 100% in the dark about the cloning. jury is still out on Neah. his reaction to Allen's face that one time when he slammed Johnny's head into the wall could have been because he wasn't expecting the cloning to work or he truly didn't know about it. (or, the Deaging Theory.) either way, it definitely happened after his death.
Cross didn't recognize Red in Allen's retelling to Kanda and was pretty damn surprised when Timcanpy prevented him from killing Red. so, whoever did the cloning either didn't do it with magic or they learned enough magic/science to pull this off.
that just leaves one person who could have done this. Past Allen.
now, i remember seeing another theory about Past Allen being Bookman's previous apprentice before Lavi, so he could have learned something from him when he was a Bookman member. OR he learned the magic from Cross. either way, he was the one who did it.
why did he do it? i think it was supposed to be a back-up plan. Neah's back-up plan was passing his memories onto Past Allen in case he died. with the knowledge of how rare and important these memories are, Past Allen would be just as paranoid and would have a plan c in case anything happens to HIM before Neah could awaken. (he is literally one in a million! he needs to keep those memories safe at all costs!)
so Past Allen learned how to clone himself after Neah's death AND without Cross' knowledge, passed the torch onto Allen (possibly because he knew his time was coming and Neah was still not making any signs of life), sold him to the circus and dropped off the face of the earth. i believe he died shortly after Allen was handed off to the circus but i don't have an exact date. probably within the first few years of Allen's life.
i don't know how he died or if the Noahs were involved at all, but i HIGHLY doubt Mana knew about him/his death. it was most likely an accident/normal death or one of the newly awakened Noahs. i also believe the reason why he chose a CIRCUS to take care of him instead of an orphanage or something similar is because it was a traveling circus. less likely to be found by the Earl if he's constantly moving, you know?
anyways.
that..still leaves about 20 years between Neah's/most of the Noah Clan's deaths and Allen's "birth". i don't know what he was doing during this time, but he started making clones at some point. there might be multiple clones and Allen was just the lucky one. or, the only one to survive.
but there you have it! all the reasons i believe Allen Walker might be a clone!
(..i have a Mana theory if anyone's interested in hearing it..)

Axel woke up to Owen. He knew it was him. The weight pressed down beside him and smelled like green apples. "Owen?" Axel whispered.
"Hey," Owen whispered gently, "You want some soup? I brought some home from work..." Axel turned over to face Owen.
"Owen—." Owen felt Axel's forehead and cheeks. Fever and embarrassment made Axel's cheeks rosy.
"Can you eat?" Owen asked. Axel nodded. "You're speechless... You're hardly ever speechless."
"Your mom was really nice to me," Axel whispered, "And it—. It felt like she meant it."
"She does mean it. Come on, sit up. Let me get some soup and a pain pill in your stomach," Owen whispered. Axel obeyed and watched Owen walk to the kitchen and heat a bowl of soup. "Had to carry my brother to bed. He was slumped over a box." Owen chuckled. He turned on a light and grabbed a pill bottle.
"Here you go," Owen whispered as he gave Axel the pill. "Don't take it yet."
"I wasn't gonna... I'm not that bad off," Axel mumbled. Owen brought him a water bottle and the leftover soup from the restaurant. "Owen, could you do me a favor?"
Owen grinned. "Uh-huh," Owen smiled as he sat beside Axel. Without thinking, he pressed kisses to Axel's cheeks and neck, and before he could kiss his lips, Axel turned away.
"You're gonna get sick," Axel warned him.
Owen kissed him. "Don't care if I get sick. I love you," Owen replied between pecks. The bedroom door opened, and Axel turned away.
"Hey, Thad," Owen whispered.
Thad rubbed his eyes. "Where—? Bart?" Thad muttered, still half-asleep.
"Nope. This is your older brother, Owen. Need something?" Owen asked.
Thad shook his head and returned to bed. "Relax, Owen. Want some of my soup?" Axel asked. Owen pulled a spoon out of thin air, eliciting a laugh from Axel. They sat together and ate the entire bowl.
Axel took his pill and went to sleep, and Owen cleaned up before returning to his side. He draped his arm over Axel and lay awake, thinking about how he'd finally gotten everything he wanted. It terrified him. Axel started to toss and turn around sunrise. He always had nightmares when he was sick. "Shh... Hey, hey," Owen whispered, "I'm right here." Axel sighed.
"Shit," Axel muttered as tears streamed down his cheeks.
Owen frowned. "What was it?" Owen questioned.
"I'm gonna get in the way—."
"No," Owen smiled, "You've never been in the way. There is no way without you." Owen messed up Axel's hair.
Meloni came out of the room and apologized. "I'll—."
"No, Mel. It's okay," Axel mumbled as he pulled the blankets over his head. Meloni crouched down beside Axel.
"Would you like to come with me? I'll set your room up so you can get some real sleep," Meloni offered as she pulled the sheet back and tapped his nose. Axel offered her a shy smile. "Come on, Sweetheart." Axel softened up.
"I'll go get ready," Axel whispered.
Once Axel was out of earshot, Owen grabbed Meloni's hand. "He's never had a mom before... So, thanks for being so nice to him," Owen confessed.
"Hold onto this one," Meloni whispered, "He's special... I can tell."
Owen grinned. "Believe me, I'm trying... Take good care of him for me, Mom," Owen whispered. Meloni nodded and messed up his hair.
"I will," Meloni smiled, "Can I hug you? I just—. I still can't believe you're my baby boy."
Owen wrapped his arms around Meloni and rested his chin atop her head. "Thank you, Mom... Thank you so much," Owen whispered.
Meloni held onto his forearm, soaking in the affection and warmth her son offered. "You and Axel have given me so much... You don't have to thank me," Meloni replied, "I'm gonna put a sweater on and take Axel home. Take care of Thad."
"I've got him," Owen replied.
Axel left the bathroom, and Meloni grabbed his pillow from the couch. "Come on, sweetheart. I'll make you a grilled cheese," Meloni smiled. She led Axel toward the door, and Axel glanced at Owen.
Owen nodded. "Bye, Axe. Bye, Mom,” Owen waved.
*
Meloni sat beside Axel on the couch, watching Fight Club. “Moms watch this kind of stuff?” Axel questioned. Meloni chuckled.
“It’s my favorite movie… Axel, can I ask you a personal question?” Meloni whispered. Axel nodded. “Are you living any of the dreams that you had as a child?”
Axel blew out a breath and took a sip of his tea. “Wow, Mel… Um… I don’t think I had any dreams. Wait… I wanted to—. No, it’s dumb—.”
Meloni turned toward him and sat on her feet. “No, please tell me,” Meloni begged, “I won’t think it’s stupid.”
“When I was little, my first foster parents used to set up blanket forts and make hot cocoa and eat cookies with their kids, but I—. I wasn’t one of their kids. I guess—. I wanted to borrow someone’s parents for a day. I wanted to be—. Be their real kid for a day,” Axel confessed. Meloni smiled. “See—.”
“No, Axel. That isn’t stupid at all. We can do that. It’ll be fun. I want you to like me… Oh, Axel, I really want you to like me,” Meloni replied. Axel laughed without meaning to. “Will you let me try?”
Axel nodded. “Okay, sure,” Axel replied. Meloni paused the movie and jumped over the back of the couch.
“You won’t regret this! I promise,” Meloni half-exclaimed. She skipped to the kitchen. “Axel! Cookies, cake, pie, or brownies?”
“What?” Axel asked.
“Cookiecakepieorbrownies?” Meloni asked.
“Brownies?” Axel answered. Meloni squealed, and Axel smiled to himself. He waited for her. At least, Axel tried to. He dozed off and woke up to Meloni carrying a stack of quilts downstairs. “Mel? That’s not safe. Let me—.”
“It’s alright… Does your head hurt?” Meloni questioned.
Axel shook his head. “I’m alright. Mel? How long have I been—? You changed the living room around… How’d you move the couch?” Axel questioned.
“You’re a heavy sleeper… Have you ever built a blanket fort?” Meloni asked. Axel shook his head.
“Owen used to joke about how we couldn’t afford to live like kids. I remember when he let me stay over the first time… I was so scared of him. I thought he was like everyone else, waiting for an opportunity to hurt me. He’s not like anyone—. Well, he’s—. He’s like you,” Axel explained. His eyes widened, and he softened. “How do we do this whole fort thing?”
Meloni grinned. “Okay,” Meloni deeply inhaled. She dropped the blankets and quilts on the couch. She explained how she did things, and Axel carefully listened. Without warning, Meloni stopped mid-sentence to touch Axel’s forehead and cheeks. “I want this to be home for you. I know you’re an adult, but I want you to feel safe and welcome here.” Axel nodded.

C, T and X!!!
BOY OH BOY 😈
C - A ship you have never liked and probably never will (be nice)
BATLANTERN. respectfully, what the hell is up with that? i've never seen any chemistry between them beyond thinly veiled irritation and professionalism on a good day. there's obviously moments between them of genuine kindness and respect, but..... hal is a very closed off person, despite what he may display otherwise. he has a small circle of extremely close friends that probably know more about him than his own family. and Bruce is Bruce. it just doesn't really make sense to me and never ever will
T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending, about anything at all (gender identity, sexual or romantic orientation, extended family, sexual preferences like top/bottom/switch, relationship with poetry, seriously anything)
I have plenty! but i'll narrow it down to a few.
1. Jason Todd is trans. i won't elaborate.
2. 80% of heroes AND villains have autism. there's just too many characters with Behaviors and i love representation. specifically with characters having fixations, stimming, having empathy issues or being bad at reading rooms. ALL of the gotham rogues have some sort of autism/adhd/ocd going on. (as someone with all of those it makes me so happy to see rep!! and often the OCD is portrayed just fine imo. which is rare)
3. lanternfam is just as close-knit as any other "dc family" (hero group). i think that recent comics have really fucked up GL's as a whole. i haven't enjoyed much that's come out in the last 10 or so years for them outside of some little spinoff stuff. (geoff johns...... count your days) but in my own little fantasy world they treat each other like family the same as flashfam batfam arrowfam whatever. like 4 really annoying brothers in a college dorm and the dorm is a giant green planet and college is Not Dying. they genuinely love each other and open up a lot. when simon and jessica join they are welcomed with open arms and instantly get invited to poker night that evening. i think comics (recently) have this weird give and take with love vs. disrespect with the lanterns and like..... they have been through WAY too much to hold even an ounce of animosity towards each other.
X - top 5-10 characters who are yoUR PRECIOUS BABIES AND YOU WILL DIE
BARRY ALLEN‼️‼️‼️🔊🗣 KYLE RAYNER. eddie nygma. koriand'r. jason todd. hal jordan. wally west. donna troy. saint walker.

GoodReads Synopsis:
For Tabitha Walker, her grandmother's old adage, "Black girls must die exhausted" is becoming all too true. Discovering she's pregnant--after she was told she may not be able to have biological children--Tabitha throws herself headfirst into the world of "single mothers by choice." Between her job, doctor's appointments, and preparing for the baby, she's worn out. And that's before her boss at the local news station starts getting complaints from viewers about Tabitha's natural hair.
My Review:
This read was a rollercoaster of emotions (and much like the first in the series), and I don't mean that in a good way.
Same trope. Same foolish mistakes. Same situationship. Same microagressions. Same friend group offering nothing to the story.
I'm invested in this series because I started it but (high-key) wish I wasn't. Allen's writing is all over the place and for me, the story doesn't resonate. The decisions that Tabby makes, the way she talks, and the people she keeps around; it does nothing for me.
Marc -- let's not even go there. How has he made it to book #2?
Ms. Gretchen -- Tabby leans so heavily on these older women (her grandmother Tabitha, in book #1) that it makes me question her friendships with Leila and Lexi.
When people show you who they are, believe them the first time. Between Marc and her daddy, Tabitha wants to be loved by men so badly that she will overlook their bad behavior and obvious neglect of her feelings just to have a connection with them. I didn't like how her relationship with her father was just glossed over and made whole because of her baby and the death of Granny Tab. No Sir, we would all need to sit down and talk to a professional if you skipped out on me, didn't maintain a relationship, went off and remarried, had other children that you were there for and, now all of a sudden we're 'cool' -- no!
I'll be reading the next in the series but, can't say that I'm looking forward to it.
Book #1 Review - Black Girls Must Die Exhausted

October Reads
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This month was my most packed month! I was working a full-time job with a huge commute and I was popping Alice Oseman like a housewife pops Vicodin- desperately. They held me down like I didn't even realize I needed until looking back. My job was really toxic and pushed me to my emotional limits. Alice created a consistently safe space where I could feel hopeful and romantic. Like no matter how hard shit was going, it was going to get better! I can't recommend this author enough, Alice Oseman is the master of young adult fiction. Each story has its own package of wholesomeness. I can't wait to see what they come out with next (including season 2 of Heartstopper!). I will be making a separate post that you can read here to talk about just how much these books gutted me emotionally, but I wanted to get this out! So here's a brief overview of my thoughts on those books!
Alice Oseman Books I read this month:
Loveless (I think this one was my favorite)
This Winter (had no idea it was so short until it was over!)
Radio Silence (this one holds a special place in my heart, it's the first one I ever read, years ago, and because of ADHD I got to read it again for the first time ever)
Solitaire (this poor precious baby tori needs a hug!)
I Was Born for This (Oh but this one was so good too)
As for the 3 non-Oseman books we have:
What If It's Us by Becky Albertalli & Adam Silvera
Black Girls Must Die Exhausted by Jayne Allen
Felix Ever After by Kacen Callender
I feel like it's carnal sin to talk poorly about queer art because we get so little of it, we don't want anyone to use it as an excuse not to continue pushing it forward. But after Alice Oseman set the bar, I gotta say I was a little disappointed with What if It's us by Albertalli and Silvera. The characters were sweet but ultimately fell flat. The plot was romantic, but predictable. But I want to give it flowers because it is a story about queer love and you can't help but root for the kids, even if they are a little obsessive.
Black Girls Must Die Exhausted was so so fun! I talked a lot about it in my review here, but to summarize- Tabitha is my girl and I would fight anyone for her!! Including and primarily that fool of a man who keeps playing with her! I was sick of it!!! Ultimately if she is happy I am thrilled, but after falling in love with Tabitha Walker as a character, I just can't accept any less than someone who is as obsessed with her as I am. Is that so much to ask!? With the 3rd book in the series yet to be published, I am eagerly awaiting to hear about how my friend is doing, check in on the beautiful life she's made for herself, and lend an unknowing ear to her stressors and fears. That's my best friend right there! 🥹
Felix Ever After is everything I expected What If It's Us to be. It's still young adult fiction, still frazzled young protagonists, and predictable conflict that seems easily resolved. But what set these two books apart is how well Callender was able to put you in the shoes of their characters and feel the emotions on a real level. It was so sweet and I'll be recommending this book to my trans non-binary sibling because they were very much a Felix when it came to gender exploration! As a millennial queer, it can feel a little intense seeing how much the younger kids grasp onto labels so tightly. Not to say labels are bad, as they can help you learn about yourself, but when it's not the vocab you grew up with, it can seem a little silly. This book helped me understand the journey more personally (and even helped me find a new relationship with my gender!). For that alone, the book gets all the flowers!
Yearly Book Count: 16/??

KNOWING YOUR PARTNER WELL CAN POTENTIALLY MAKE WRITING TOGETHER A LOT EASIER. ( REPOST DO NOT REBLOG ! )
Tumblr media
Let’s goooooo ~~
NAME: N or Noir
PRONOUNS: he / him
PREFERENCE OF COMMUNICATION: tumblr ims aaaaaand discord, if we interacted you can ask for my discord
NAME OF MUSE(S): hahaha... Let’s start:
FFXIV: fandaniel, my OC WoL, and other OCs in general
Yu-gi-oh: Pharaoh Atem, Yuugi, Seto Kaiba, Slifer, even the damn Kuriboh
BSD: Dazai Osamu, Nakahara Chuuya, Edogawa Ranpo and an OC
DRRR!!: Izaya Orihara
Pokemon: (N)atural Gropius Harmonia
Undertale: Sans, G!Sans (AU)
D. Gray Man: Allen Walker
Kingdom Hearts: Roxas, Sora, Vanitas
MysMe: 707
OFF (Game): The Batter
GenPact: Diluc (discord only), this man, the WANDERER
And probably many more but I didn’t write them on tumblr, yup.
EXPERIENCE/HOW LONG (MONTHS / YEARS?):   Holy fuck if I start I don’t shut up. I started RPing with my close friends when I was... 10? 12? When I finally can use a PC? When I started to use Tumblr I was like... 16?? And from that I’ve been going and leaving time to time, trying characters, memeing around, knowing people... I think I improved my writing a lot thanks to this hellsite.
PLATFORMS YOU’VE USED: discord, tumblr, skype (once), msn (god ol’ times), twitter (I don’t like it).
BEST EXPERIENCE: The people I met. I know I lost contact with some, or I’d never talk with them anymore, but the RPs I have done with them have been the best. I loved all my RP partners and I’ll always miss them.
RP PET PEEVES/DEALBREAKERS: people who doesnt trim posts or reblogging a lot of ooc stuff? I guess I like to have my blog clean just as my dashboard. When I come here is to read or write cool shit or watching some fanart but nothing more.
FLUFF, ANGST OR SMUT: COMEDY. I’m a total meme okay sorry. But if I have to choose, I’m between angst and fluff. Angst is the best to make the character improve (or not) and fluff...... sheesh, I just love writing stupid romantic stuff for my baby muses. For me they all are like a babies to me. Smut I write it rarely, and if I do I prefer in private.
PLOTS OR MEMES: MEMES- Okay but plotting when there’s an idea goes perfect, so both, yes both.
LONG OR SHORT REPLIES: depends on the mood of the day, I like to write more or less the same length as my rp partner? I like to share what my muses think most of the time.
BEST TIME TO WRITE: I dunno, I remember long ago it was in my nights, lately it has been in my mornings, but my mood swings a lot lately so I can’t choose.
ARE YOU LIKE YOUR MUSE(S): mostly no... but at the same time yes. They are more exaggerated than me. They did things I would never do. I think my empathy helped me to understand these characters and write my own interpretation. I like masterminds but I’m not that smart... but one thing I would love and you will always see in my muses are the chaotic vibes they give from afar. Always. That’s a part of me I give to them.
tagged by: @erabundus ( thank youuuuuuu ♥ ) tagging: dunno imma just tag ppl I have in my drafts (I don’t forget about our threads I swear and if you did this oh well just ignore the tag sdjkfhsdk) @al-hazen , @praeteritus-memories , @abyssmalice , @mcwscollective , @scarletooyoroi , @vixlenxe , @dcndrohina , @mrcyclopsfan , @visionkept , @saints-sorrow ....... and you if you’re reading this, oh my I have a lot of followers please tag me if you’re doing it and wanna show ♥

Owen woke up to Bart hanging upside down over the bunk, and he bumped his head. "Bart? Jesus," Owen mumbled, "What are you doing?"
Bart pulled himself up before jumping down to the floor. "Sorry, I was waiting for you to get up... So, we're brothers?" Bart asked and sat across from Owen on the bottom bunk. Owen nodded. "Are you gonna call her Mom?"
"Is that gonna be weird for you?" Owen asked.
"Well... No, 'cause we're brothers," Bart replied matter-of-factly. Owen ran a hand over his face and scratched his head. "Is it weird for you?"
"A little. I'll try calling her Mom because I don't think I can call her Meloni," Owen whispered, "Where's Thad?"
"Probably in the living room... Did Mom give you a tour of the house?" Bart asked. Owen shook his head. "Good, let me show you around after breakfast."
"You don't have to be nice about being brothers if this is weird for you—."
"I'm being nice because I want to. Besides, it's kind of cool. You're our older brother," Bart smiled. He got up and got dressed for the day. Owen lay back down and took and stretched his arms and legs.
"What does Mom do for a living?" Owen asked.
"She's a geoarchaeologist. Mom used to travel in the summer for work, but now, she teaches Intro to Geology at the university," Bart answered, "She loves a good rock. You should ask her about her collection when you have the time."
"And your dad?" Owen asked.
Bart went to the bathroom and brushed his teeth without answering Owen's question. Bart still couldn't move himself to talk about his father. It felt weird to talk about someone who died when he was a toddler. Owen didn't pry. He brushed his teeth and got dressed after Bart, and they went downstairs to check on Thad and Meloni. When they got to the living room, Meloni and Thad sat eating cereal.
"Good morning," Meloni greeted them. Thad shrank down on the couch because he didn't know how else to react.
"Good morning, Mom. Good morning, Thad," Bart replied as he rushed past them to the kitchen.
Owen stood awkwardly behind the couch until Meloni insisted he sit with them. Owen sat on her other side. Thad set his bowl back on the table. "I'm gonna start going to therapy," Thad mumbled as he excused himself and went to the laundry room. Owen frowned.
"It's not you. It's just that things are so different now. Give Thad some time to adjust," Meloni reassured him. Owen didn't say anything. "Owen, how'd you sleep?"
Owen nodded. "I slept okay... They get up a lot during the night, don't they?" Owen whispered. Meloni chuckled.
"Bart wouldn't sleep until he could turtle with his dad. His dad used to hold the boys in his sweater when they were babies. But when they got older, he'd wrap a blanket around himself and Bart. It looked like a turtle shell," Meloni smiled, "Can I ask you about your childhood? Were they nice to you? Did you know that you were adopted?"
"I um... I knew I was adopted. I was always afraid to ask about it, though. My parents were great. They—. Mom was single until I was six, and my stepdad was cool... I didn't start getting into trouble until after they died. I was sixteen," Owen closed his eyes, "And then I met Axe, and he used to crash at my place when I got one—."
"You lived alone after your parents passed?" Meloni asked.
Owen nodded. "I looked for you before the process of being emancipated was finalized... I followed you into a grocery store. I wanted to talk to you, but I was too afraid to speak," he answered.
Meloni looked at him, and she mouthed something to herself. She couldn't believe Owen was so close without her knowing. "You've been alone all these years," Meloni whispered, "Owen, I know this might be weird for you to hear, but I love you so much."
Owen smiled softly. Meloni messed up his hair and took the dirty dishes to the kitchen, leaving Owen alone in the living room. Bart returned, rubbing his arm as if he'd made a mistake. "Owen, I'm not trying to be weird or anything... I'm just not ready to talk about my dad yet," Bart explained.
"I respect that," Owen replied, "But I want you to know you can ask me whatever you want. I just want to be close to you guys."
"It's gonna take a while with Thad, but he'll warm up to you again. It's just weird for him. I think he's still getting used to being twins," Bart joked. Owen chuckled. "And I think he's so distracted that he's doing my laundry for me."
"You're kind of terrible for that," Owen laughed.
Bart shrugged and giggled before tapping Owen's arm. "Let me show you around the house," Bart whispered.
Bart took him to the sunroom, the guest room, and the guest bathroom. Then they climbed the stairs to the second floor, and they stopped at the first door at the top of the stairs, and Bart swallowed hard. "What's the room at the end of the hall?" Owen asked to lighten the mood.
"So that end," Bart pointed to the left, "Is Mom's office. The room at the other end of the hall is her room. Her office is kind of cool if you wanna go in there... Thad usually knows the names of all the little rocks she has on display."
"Is she okay with us going into her office?" Owen asked.
Thad opened the office door, startling them both. "Mom won't mind," Thad answered, "Besides, she loves to show off all her MOPs and moonstones."
"MOPs?" Owen asked.
"Mother of pearls," Bart answered as they entered the office.
Thad memorized most of the stones in Meloni's office and could name them by heart. Owen couldn't hear Thad, though. He was too busy scanning over the pictures of Meloni's travels. Owen touched Thad's arm. "Where was this?" Owen asked, pointing to a picture of Meloni standing in a cave with a handful of green stones.
"Macon County," Thad answered.
"She said she passed out right after that picture was taken. That's how she knew she was pregnant with us," Bart added, "We were her olivines... You should ask her what gem you were."
"What do you mean? I already know my birth—."
"Not your birthstone. Your stone is the stone she found the most of when she realized she was pregnant," Thad interrupted. He seemed so far away when he said it, and Owen felt guilty.

Title: nothing to mourn or miss Ship: Poker pair Summary:  The only thing connecting little Cornelia Walker to Tyki Mikk was the mop of dark hair. A year after his Master's letter had been sent to the Black Order, Allen Walker arrived at their Headquarters, carrying a newborn on his back. AN: I just want trans Allen fanfics. Let’s see where this fanfic will go!
Lavi’s greatest gift had always been his observation skills. Growing up on the streets (in a different city, under another name), he’d had to be clever and aware to ensure he wouldn’t starve to death or be killed. Bookman, of course, had taken the ability to a whole new level, ensuring that Lavi wouldn’t miss even a single detail. Lavi was pretty sure that if there was a way to keep from blinking for the rest of his life, Bookman would force him to learn that as well.
Regardless, his skill was why he knew Krory had to be in the next train wagon. It was the last possible option, given that the vampiric Exorcist hadn’t been in any of the others. The situation, once they found him, was pretty easy to break down. He’d gotten cheated out of his clothes and money by three traveling vagabonds and a sickly-looking child; tuberculosis if Lavi were to guess. They looked rough as if the gentleness was seldom shown to them. From their hands and posture, Lavi deduced they worked in the mines or a similar taxing job.
That was as far as Lavi got with his observation before another one took him by surprise.
“Allen!” the boy shouted and promptly threw himself at said young man.
Here was the thing about Allen Walker: He was lithe in build, small, but he knew how to present himself. Lavi looked at him and knew what he kept hidden, yet it was not a lie because everything about Allen Walker screamed that he was a young man. He’d never said a word about whether he’d learned from his deceased father or his Master, but Allen knew how to navigate society, which social cues to react to or ignore.
Allen often kept people at a distance to keep up appearances and live his life as he wanted. Lavi, personally, was a massive fan of invading people’s personal space. He’d learned to do so early for various reasons, and with time passing, Allen started to allow Lavi in his bubble. But always, he was careful, hesitating, bracing himself for interaction.
And yet, somehow, this protection was disregarded without a second thought. Allen wasn’t taken aback by the boy jumping him but reacted on instinct and caught the boy. Were the child smaller, Lavi would think it was because of Cornelia, but no, the boy was much older than Allen’s daughter.
And here it was, the second clue:
“Eeez!” Allen said. “What are you doing here?”
“Traveling to a new job!” Eeez replied in rapid-fire Portuguese that, had Lavi not spent a year in the country, he wouldn’t have been able to understand a word. “You’re pretty far from your usual roads,” Allen replied only and set the boy down again. “But I see, your cheating habits haven’t changed at all.”
“You’ve always been the worst cheat,” the man towards the right replied, causing the one on the outmost left to laugh in agreement.
The two seemed good-natured if a little tired. They were comfortable around Allen, studied him briefly as if to check he was doing well, eating enough or so. Anyone who knew Allen well enough to greet him so heartedly had to be aware of his metabolism and with this group struggling for money, it was no surprise they worried about food.
But it wasn’t quite the two men or the boy that drew Lavi’s attention.
No, it was the man in the middle.
Thick glasses obscured his eyes, but his hair was curly and dark, the kind that Lavi knew from experience was fun to run your hand through.
How well exactly did Allen Walker know this man and how much did he care to keep such large secrets?
“Are you going to join us, menino?” the man asked. “Your friend has lost a few things, I believe.”
Allen grinned triumphantly, but his hand twitched all the same, betraying his lie. He was nervous, shaken by this confrontation, and were he anyone else, words about little princesses in high towers, bright gray eyes looking up from the Branch Chief’s lap, and bets on milestones would soon spill out of his mouth.
“Allen,” Krory finally spoke up, still sniffling. “Do you know these men?”
“Yes,” Allen replied, shaking himself from stupor. “We traveled together for a while after Master Cross had dumped me. They’re friends.”
Just friends? Lavi wondered. From the looks of it, he was not the only one. The boy, Eeze, narrowed his eyes, glancing between Tyki and Allen. Whatever they had, it hadn’t been that casual. The result was currently crawling around HQ, after all.
“This is Momo, Crack, and Glasses in the middle—”
“You wound me.”
“Is Tyki Mikk.”
Tyki was not a name whose origin Lavi could place easily. He’d assumed that Cornelia had been picked because it was a fairly common British name and sounded well with the small family’s last name.
Cornelia Walker wasn’t even a year old yet, and thus Lavi quietly found himself doing the math. Cross’s letter had announced only Allen’s arrival and been dated about a year before Allen had actually managed to arrive at the Order. He knew that Lenalee thought Allen had been sent to the Order because of Cornelia, so she’d be safe while Allen killed Akuma.
Never mind that nobody expected Cross to be a capable guardian for a newborn. People had been fascinated enough with the fact he’d managed to raise a teenager.
The only thing connecting little Cornelia to Tyki Mikk was the mop of dark hair. Otherwise, she was entirely Allen’s baby, from the pale complexion to the eyes and… Before meeting this Tyki, Lavi had assumed that she had Allen’s nose, but it actually resembled Tyki’s more closely. Still following through with his conclusions, Lavi pretended to be shocked at Allen’s gambling skills, the way he won back Krory’s clothes and dignity before stripping his old friends of theirs.
“Royal Straight Flush,” Allen announced once more with a smile as the others tossed their cards, not at all angry, more amused.
“They’re used to this,” Eeez said, this time in English. It was accentuated but still pretty good. Lavi could hear the same kind of pitter-patter pronunciation Allen sometimes fell back on when he was careless or exhausted. He must have taught the boy how to speak the language. How curious, it spoke for longer exposure to Allen. This definitely added to Lavi’s growing suspicion that Allen hadn’t just taken the long way round to the Order.
As did the fond glances Allen couldn’t keep off his face.
He could have stayed with this group. They were obviously aware of Allen’s status, but they seemed to have no trouble with it. Without needing to pay off his Master’s debt, Allen could earn enough to settle down somewhere. If they stayed near a mining town, the group wouldn’t even have to break up or work in a different branch.
There’d be no little niece for Komui to fuss over or dress up in her father’s absence. The Order would have remained entirely unaware of Allen Walker’s presence until someday along the way, somebody would dig out the one letter Cross had hurriedly written. And by then, they’d have assumed that Allen Walker had died on his way to the Order. Despite the tension of Allen’s shoulder, he was obviously at ease with this group, was at home, whereas he still hadn’t settled completely at the Order.
He could have abandoned the Akuma for them, this odd broken little family, but he hadn’t. The Destroyer of Time had marched on, wrapped his new gift up in cuddly blankets and climbed up a mountain.
Perhaps Lavi should tell him of the Order’s gruesome history, its horrible present. Would the boy have chosen to take his daughter there if he knew what lingered behind the black walls? Lavi had no doubt that if someone else sat in Komui’s office, little Cornelia would be tested weekly for resonance with an Innocence piece given that her father was an Accommodator. Then again, that doll that acted as her babysitter had taken a liking to her and Lavi doubted it was just because of the sentience it possessed.
The train ride passed in relative peace despite the gambling with the miners talking of their travels and Allen returning with stories of his own, carefully modified to leave out any signs of Akuma or his daughter.
He had no intention of telling them.
Lavi’s job was to record history, not to teach it.
He didn’t have to tell them either. Most likely, this encounter would remain a footnote in Allen Walker’s biography.
The odd group had to leave the train before them, and their goodbyes were sweet and kind, warmer and lingering, a farewell that nobody wanted. Eeez hugged Allen once more and Momo and Crack both gave Allen a nudge and tousled his hair fondly.
When it came to Tyki, Lavi paid attention. Accommodator yet or not, someday Cornelia’s history might become relevant, and they’d need all the details.
“Take good care of yourself, menino,” Tyki said, making no move to embrace Allen, touch him in any way. How curious that he’d chosen distance when he so obviously wanted to reach for the opposite. Lavi had seen a hundred stories like this already, how bitter love like this must be.
At moments like this, Lavi was glad that he was forever exempt from such heartbreak.
“I’m not the one always on the road, running off doing odd jobs,” Allen countered with a soft smile, a joke that failed to hide any of the pain. “Take care of yourself as well.”
The group left the train, and it was only as the machine was already departing that Tyki tossed something at Allen, the same playing cards they’d used earlier. Lavi watched quietly as Allen looked through the cards until melancholy turned his lips upwards.
“Hearts this time,” Allen muttered under his breath, likely not meant to be picked up by Lavi’s ears.
He packed the cards into the pocket of his coat and wrapped it tightly around his body as if to keep out the imaginary cold. When Allen looked up, his eyes fixed on Lavi, he seemed torn between determination and desperation.
“Don’t tell anyone,” Allen said, or perhaps ordered. “Please.”
So it hadn’t gone unnoticed that Lavi had uncovered his little secret.
Checking that Krory was still out of earshot, busy carrying their luggage to this empty compartment, Lavi chose to engage. “Why not tell him?”
Allen shrugged, then smiled just a bit pained. “His world is different from ours. They don’t have much cash, so I wouldn’t dump a child on them, and it would be careless to ask Tyki, and the others by extension, to step into the nightmare that is our reality. It’s better this way.”
Lavi hummed in agreement, thinking on the report he’d make to Bookman. Allen Walker, despite his cheerful optimism, could be quite realistic, almost painfully so.
They didn’t tell the families of their Finders about the deceased either.
Ignorance, wounding as it might be, left you with nothing to mourn or miss.
(Later, bound to a chair, the Fourth Apostle screaming at him, Lavi would remember his past assessment and laugh at his naivete.)
