An introduction to my OC for the IkesenNW's OC week!

Character’s full name: Sofiya Alexandrovna Tsvetayeva (born Esfir Sakharova) 

Reason or meaning of name: Means wisdom. A popular name in Russia, given to her by a social worker as her birth name was unknown.

Character’s nickname: Sonya, Sonechka, Sonyushka 

Reason for nickname: Russians are big on nicknames, y'all

Birth date: 24th August

PHYSICAL APPEARANCE

Age: 25

Height: 4’11 | 150cm

Body build: Endomorph, pear-shaped

Shape of face: Round

Eye color: Brown

Glasses or contacts: None

Skin tone: Fair skin

Distinguishing marks: Burn scars on left side of face and body

Hair color: Blonde

Type of hair: Wavy

Hairstyle: Loose down to her shoulders, tends to wear headbands.

Disabilities: Hearing loss, dyspraxia, autism, loss of some phalanges of the pinky and ring finger on left hand.

Usual fashion of dress: Likes vintage style clothes. Tends to pick outfits based on their textures. Comfy.

HISTORY

Childhood/Family Life: Born in Chechnya, she experienced memory loss, hearing impairment and burns during the second Chechen war from a bombing. Was unable to recall her name or her family members. All records were inaccessible due to the destruction of infrastructure during the war. Evacuated to Yekaterinburg and put into the social work system there. Adopted by Alexei Tsvetayev and Haruki Matsuoka. Meets Val when they are 9 and 10 respectively, and he gradually begins to live with them over the next two years. Their family moves to Hokkaido when she is 12 years old. Accidentally took someone's life in the name of self-defense when she was 16; this led to her current pacifistic outlook on life.

Education: Completed high school with a diploma. Garners interest in the history of art / fashion. Graduates from Osaka University. 

REGRETS

Never going back to Chechnya. She didn’t want to face the emotional strain as the possibility of never finding her birth family was too high. But now she has no way to get back to the present, it’s an impossibility. She should have taken the chance.

Not taking more action when it came to Val’s interactions with his family or standing up to bullying of herself and others in her school. She was afraid to paint a target on herself, but feels like a coward now.

SECRETS

Envious of her brother. The fact that his temperament and fighting skills are much more suited to their current era makes her feel inferior in comparison.

Wrote terrible fanfiction in her youth. Val absolutely read it but pretends he knows nothing.

Desperate to know what her original name was so she can have a semblance of closure.

Introducing disability awareness into the Sengoku is a big goal. She aims to learn about the era’s medicinal practices so she can potentially save lives. Wants to save as much artwork from destruction as she can, though human lives take precedence in her mind.

She thinks it’s silly, but she wants to find someone she can love and adopt kids together.

Her friends abandoning her. Not being good enough. Ostracization. People secretly detesting her.

Does anyone want to listen to more of my Oblast rescue Au? I'm not waiting for an answer y'all are getting my rambles whether you like it or not hehe

Oblast lore:

The Oblast is a ship run by an Ukrainian agency focused on rehabilitating and helping "difficult situations" get back into social life, such as addicts and/or mentally ill people. It's more like a school trip than an actual job. It's funded by the state so they don't have to pay anything, but they won't get paid in return since it's, as I said, not a job.

The whole ship is in Ukrainian so Pripyat and Nikolai are captain and co-captain since they're the only ones who can understand it.

Pripyat however believes in a more "everyone's say is fundamental " type of approach so he views himself as more of a spokesman than a captain.

They get bi-weekly check-ups by the crew on earth, except on emergencies, where someone (usually Nikolai) needs to send a request for an emergency meeting (hehe amogus)

The ship is... Old, to say the least. It's not really well cared for and its state isn't the best, but it holds up. It's something state-owned after all. It doesn't look way as "fancy" as the Tulpar does, it doesn't have big screens or machines to cook their food, but it has a tv and a game console brought by Isaiah.

They do have portholes though, which is how the crew saw the Tulpar.

Isaiah is only there to supervise Darien since she's a minor.

The ship used to be a big industrial freighter ship that got repurposed. It has a shitload of rooms because it used to carry dangerous stuff that entailed a lot of personnel for its supervision.

In relation to the Tulpar:

The Oblast crew sent a message to the wrecked ship in Ukrainian, English and Chinese consisting of an "Hello? Is somebody there?"

Once they get a response, they immediately set up a rescue to transfer the Tulpar workers to their ship

Pripyat hits it off quite well with Swansea, Daisuke admires him and Anya and Curly are pretty intimated by him, as he's a big guy after all. He doesn't have good vibes from Jimmy but doesn't interact with him almost at all. He's cold with everyone but cares a lot for his crewmates (hehe amogus again)

Nikolai really likes Anya and almost immediately takes her under his wing. Well, Nikolai is a social person so she hits it off with basically everybody. Him and Daisuke become good friends

Emily doesn't like anyone but Anya off the bat, especially Jimmy. He ends up getting a bit too touchy with her and that pisses her off.

Isaiah is a chill guy with everyone. Curly enjoys when he sings to himself when he's trying up the medbay or helping him do something.

Darien is distrustful of everyone except Anya and Daisuke.

The crew takes shift taking care of Curly for the most basic tasks such as feeding, while the more "medical" roles are filled in by Anya and Nikolai.

They have game nights! Sometimes it's board games, others are videogames, others are card games. Pripyat hates monopoly with a passion so he dips out every time they play it.

This took an unbearable amount of time. I mean, my art takes pretty long to make regardless but this exceeded the average, 28 hours is too much even for me, but at least I'm pretty happy with it :3

This year has been... Tumultuous, to say the least. I've gone through some stuff, skipped through many different fandoms, and made some friends both online and offline. Nonetheless, I could never be more grateful to you guys than I already am.

There's not outwardly gore but it may be disturbing to some people. Yeah this one's not light, viewer's discretion is advised. Genuinely. Don't sacrifice your mental health for a mediocre drawing. (Uncensored is below cut)

Imagine being 16 years old, just a few days into an internship at a local hospital, when your brother, the person who raised you ever since you were a newborn, comes back covered in burns and welts from the nuclear disaster just a few kilometers away.

I learned that a friend of mine likes repaints of the "ivan the terrible and his son", so this is something for them. Plus I wanted to draw something representing one of the main scenes in my book and I chose to combine the two.
