Tw fresh (not quite accurate I think) burns, blood, angst.

There's not outwardly gore but it may be disturbing to some people. Yeah this one's not light, viewer's discretion is advised. Genuinely. Don't sacrifice your mental health for a mediocre drawing. (Uncensored is below cut)

Imagine being 16 years old, just a few days into an internship at a local hospital, when your brother, the person who raised you ever since you were a newborn, comes back covered in burns and welts from the nuclear disaster just a few kilometers away.

I learned that a friend of mine likes repaints of the "ivan the terrible and his son", so this is something for them. Plus I wanted to draw something representing one of the main scenes in my book and I chose to combine the two.

Just to repeat what I said in the first post: I'm open to any requests or suggestions or even PDFs themselves, if someone wants to share theirs from their collection. Any language is welcome - if you want me to look for a certain book in the language of your choice, I'll do that. If you have a book in language other than English, I'd love to add it to the Drive! If you have a better version of whatever PDF I've already got, then I'd be more than happy to do a swap.

Now, some of my reasoning, if anyone's interested: first of all, I think it's important for everyone to be able to access stuff like this. Think of it as a library, minus the "give these back" part. Secondly, I get soooo mad when people are like haha, found this super rare, basically impossible to find, very expensive book! ...I shall now keep it exclusively to myself. Ma'am, you're ruining the vibe and stalling everyone's hobby research but I guess you do you...

1) Does your OC have a voice claim, if so who?

So far, the only one set in stone is Nikolai's as Will wood (see me/myself/i). I don't know about him too much but, from what I've seen, he has the absolute same energy and intonation of his voice as what I've imagined for Nikolai.

Isaiah and Emily are matching with the voices of the singers of the bring me to life song. I'm not able to elaborate though

(I've gotten another user who asked me about voice claims so I'll continue with the other characters there)

3) What song describes your OC?

Oooh that's an interesting one!

Nikolai's is "Fish in a birdcage". I feel like it represents how she views himself and her intersexuality, especially when she was younger. Cause, you know, growing up intersex and visibly queer in 1970s USSR probably wasn't very fun.

Pripyat's "Судно". Like, the doomer-esque vibe and the lines about the hospital are accurate about his lore and his views on life and his recovery.

Emily's "Good luck, babe!" Because of course it is, she's a sex worker who's actually a lesbian.

Darien's "Everbody's Gotta Live" because I feel like it fits her and her newfound peace after years of troubled time in the foster system.

And, last but not least, Isaiah's song is "All around me". Again, because of course it is. As goth and alternative as he is, he's still a priest after all.

30) My OC and your OC are friends. This isn't a question. I'm not asking. (How do they respond?)

(I'm interpreting this as they've already been friends for some while, and not like they just met)

Pripyat would be really cold towards you, but he'd care a lot. He'd buy you trinkets or draw you sometimes, yet almost never let you see him smile.

Nikolai would be really hyped and talk to you nonstop. Bring you places, organize parties for you (if you're into this), etcetera.

Darien would build you bracelets and/or show you nice stuff she likes (like cool rocks or pretty flowers). She'd also ramble nonstop about frogs

Emily would lower her guard with you and be much less hostile. She'd be comfortable talking with you and acting less sexual around you. Overall, her relationship with you would be much more wholesome than what you'd have if you met her on the streets.

Isaiah would be really open with you, letting you vent and taking care of you when you're down. He'd share his music with you and listen to your recommendations, and even bring you to concerts with him if you want.

Ok so I want to say it for posterity in case I actually publish my work one day;

I did not take inspiration from mouthwashing for my book. I came up with the story several years before mouthwashing came out. I'm not accusing the developers of copying me, of course, as I've never shared my lore with anyone before. It would be unrealistic to claim that I've been "stolen" from. I find mouthwashing an incredibly well written game, and I wish its creators nothing but the best. Genuinely. I'm so happy it's getting the attention it's getting.

I'm writing this because, if my work becomes public, it will be several years in the future, and I don't want to get accused of copying something I didn't even know yet.

This is unfortunately the sole "proof" I can give of this. Me mentioning my character in a translated whatsapp message from 2022. It's not much to back up my claims. Hell, it's barely anything at all, I know.

Again, I have nothing against mouthwashing nor the team that worked on it.

More awake inside of my dreams

Was that really you next to me?

I'm finally sharing some lore, huh?

I'd like to start with the main stuff:

"The Kazakovs" (the name I settled for my book so far, tho it may change in the future) is set before during and after the Chernobyl disaster.

It alternates between two narratives: their lives before the accident, seen mainly through the eyes of Alexei (the older brother); and their lives after the accident, seen mainly through the eyes of Nikolai (the younger sibling).

I don't want to spoil much else, but there are a few things you should keep in mind:

•The two brothers come from an extremely dysfunctional family; the father being abusive and the mother neglectful

•Alexei soon enough needed to step up as a parental figure to his brother, putting her above him in whatever he did. They both went to live with their grandparents in Pripyat soon enough because of... Lore.

•Nikolai took his time in school, studying and graduating in nursing school, while Alexei dropped out of school to go to work as early as he could due to force majeure.

That's it for now, I think. I'll share some more lore in the future if y'all are interested (it gets less tragic in the second narrative I promise) and I'm 100% up to answering questions you may have about it so ask ahead! 😃😃
