falling through an absolute void. the weightlessness that comes with that, staring up at a sky filled with stars and waiting to die. the helplessness, and the way it made him never want to be helpless ever again.

inheritance. grappling with what he's been given, the good and the bad, and trying to learn how to stop defining himself by it. proving that he is more than that. because even if the world starts to think of tony first when they hear stark, he has to convince himself of it, too, and that's the harder battle.

pepper (this reminds me that i really need to write more pepper i love her)

everything perfectly organized, always. her pens in an exact line on her desk, papers straightened just so, art hung tastefully on the wall. pepper likes things nice and neat; it helps her have control over her life, even when she doesn't feel like she does on a larger scale.

pepper will not be stopped by anyone for anything once she puts her mind to it. she has enough power to be heard, and if people won't listen she makes them - even marches into the boss' office with financial records and pepper spray.

she knows where to draw the line. she's very mature, very aware of her own mental state and other people's. she loves tony, but she still ends things when she has to, because she knows what's best for herself. it's a very firm no, but still gentle. and i really like that about her. she takes care of herself without being selfish or careless.

I’ll admit, I hardly ever look at my followers counter, I often time forget it’s there. It fluctuated so much during the years and I myself have had so many phases when sometimes I just focused on one of my other sideblogs and completely neglected this one. I didn’t really expect for people to stick around once they stopped being interested in my content, no hard feelings or drama needed, but some of them still did and I still see them everyday on my dash, feeling like I’m waving at an old friend across the street. ♡

This year has been and keeps being so incredibly draining for many of us, I believe. It hit me and my family especially hard and both my mental and physical health suffered for it. Being able to take a moment for myself during these dark days and just focus on having fun with photoshop, sharing edits and opinions, connecting with other people on here, no matter if for one hour or one week, genuinely helped me stay afloat. And for that I just wanna thank you from the bottom of my heart.

To all of  you who bear with my ever changing moods, my jumping from one fandom to the other, my constant sr and my impatience towards time zones. To all of those mutuals who are still new and fresh but already went out of their way to let me know they appreciate my work, to those who always leave sweet tags under my gifs, to everyone who took time out of their day to send me a sweet message just because they felt like it, to anyone who asked for my opinion about stuff, who chatted with me about everything and anything, to those who have been here for years and still stick around.

end of the year thing: non-5sos edition

hi!!! so I’ve never done one of these and like I know it’s along the lines of a “follow forever” but also haven’t seen people call these that in years. anyways!

you’re all i ever wanted

Summary: The first time Alex Mercer had ever kissed a boy was in the ninth grade, and at Bobby Wilson’s birthday no less.

The first time Alex Mercer had ever kissed a boy was in the ninth grade, and at Bobby Wilson’s birthday no less. It was a game of truth-or-dare, and Alex was only just figuring out his sexuality. Girls were okay, he thought, but he wouldn’t mind boys either (there was a little voice in his head saying this was wrong and it was only enforced when he went to church with his parents and they talked about sin and homosexuality). He didn’t remember the boy's name (though he thought he should, a first kiss was something important, wasn’t it?), but he remembers the rumours spread about the two of them afterwards.

He lied to his father about the kiss, obviously, he wouldn’t accept his fag of a son. Alex pinned the blame on the other boy, something about how it was really him who kissed Alex, who forced himself on Alex against his will and caused him to sin.

And his father believed it, though it was probably more of not wanting to accept the possibility that Alex might be gay, rather than truly believing anything Alex had to say. He’d already gotten a lecture about associating with people like that (he said it with such a tone that Alex knew even if he was gay, he wouldn’t be coming out any time soon).

He prayed a little longer that night.

The second time Alex Mercer had ever kissed a boy was a little over a year later, halfway through sophomore year. This time, he remembers the boy. It was an accident, really, he didn’t mean to kiss Luke Patterson, and it wasn’t really his fault anyway. It was just-- Luke was nice. He didn’t quite understand Alex’s anxiety, but he didn’t treat him differently despite it. That left a warm feeling in Alex’s chest.

Luke had soft hair and a lovely voice and a vendetta against sleeves (not that Alex didn’t enjoy it- though he’d never admit that). Luke had been his best friend since forever, there was nothing the two didn’t do together. When Luke got his guitar, Alex begged his parents for a drum set. When Luke got his first kiss, a real kiss, Alex followed. When Alex opened up about his sexuality, Luke wanted to ‘try it out’ too.

“Try it out” was a bit of an understatement. Alex had come out, mentioned kissing that boy at Bobby’s party, and Luke pulled him into a kiss. It was chaste and honestly rather bad, and what followed was a strew of apologies from Luke and “it’s okay”s on Alex’s part, but it was still Luke. 

All in all, it wasn’t technically a kiss, and Luke’s lips were too chapped to make the experience enjoyable. Band would go on like normal after that, Luke never brought it up again and Alex didn’t bother pestering him about ‘what was that for?’ When Bobby and Reggie entered the garage, Alex came out to them too. There were a lot of tears that night, and Alex could have sworn he’d seen Luke wink at him over Reggie’s shoulder.

The third time Alex Mercer had ever kissed a boy was only a year before his death. He’d just come out to his parents, and Luke had ran away only a few days (weeks?) prior. Bobby’s family was on vacation for the summer, so Alex had taken refuge in the garage. What he didn’t expect was a crying Reggie Peters to be laying on the couch. They were both a mess, Alex with his bags thrown over his shoulder (he didn’t bring much, when his parents sent him up to his room during dinner he’d packed his bags and left through the window in under ten minutes) and Reggie with dried tears on his face and a bruise on his cheek.

It was a sore sight, Alex was glad that Luke and Bobby weren’t home (home, that’s where they were!) yet. The only coherent thought he’d had at the moment was to scoop his friend up and hug him like the world depended on it. Alex thought that it just might. 

The room echoed with muffled sobs as Reggie cried into his shoulder, but Alex wouldn’t have it any other way. He’d gotten little butterflies in his stomach, shoving his face into Reggie’s hair (soft, so soft) in an attempt to comfort the boy.

They were both a little messed up.

So that’s why Alex thought it would be okay to kiss him. He’d brought Reggie’s face up and cupped it with his hands, tracing a thumb over his cheek and rubbing away the tears. His hands carefully avoided the bruise, kissing it gently before moving in for his lips.

Their foreheads knocked together and Reggie giggled, so Alex took it as a good sign. You’d think by now he’d have gotten a handle on the whole kissing thing (he hadn’t). It was better than his kiss with Luke, but that wasn’t saying much. Reggie’s skin was soft, his lips just the same, and his hands were entangled with Alex’s. It was fun, exhilarating even.

Until the door to the garage opened and Luke and Bobby walked in with snacks, only to drop them at the sight of the two (very red and tear-stained) boys.

“Do you kiss all your friends?” Luke had said, and that got Reggie to erupt into giggles despite his tears.

“Only the pretty ones,” Alex replied.

The fourth time Alex kissed a boy was only a few minutes after that with Reggie.

“Am I not pretty enough for you, Mercer?” Bobby said, throwing a pack of doritos at Reggie and sitting down next to Luke.

Alex rolled his eyes, “Is this your way of saying you’d like to kiss me, Wilson?” 

“I don’t know about that, Mercer, I thought I wasn’t pretty enough,” Bobby scooted closer to him, hands inches from Alex’s own, “you’d be willing to change that though, right?” Luke and Reggie stayed quiet during the whole exchange, sending each other quick glances and smiles as the two bantered affectionately. 

Alex rolled his eyes again, moving his hands up to Bobby’s face and pulling him in for a kiss. There was more effort put into this one, it was much more deliberate. Bobby’s hands trailed up his arms and ended up either in his hair or on his chest. 

“Hey,” Alex murmured, brushing a piece of hair from Bobby’s face.

“Hey yourself,” Bobby replied, moving in to kiss him again.

Alex laughed into Bobby’s mouth, which led the other to laugh too, and eventually the two of them ended up lying on top of one another unable to speak without giggling like school girls.

“That was kinda hot,” Luke said once things had calmed down, only to be cut off by Reggie’s sharp laugh and a shout of “Luke!” from Alex. Bobby just smirked at him, too tired for a response.

The fifth time Alex Mercer ever kissed a boy was a few months after his death, when he met Willie. It wasn’t until after they’d figured out, and stopped, Caleb’s plan. That the two took their relationship somewhere else.

Willie was good to Alex, made sure he was comfortable and okay with everything he did. He’d ask Alex if he could hold his hand in public, even though they couldn’t be seen. He’d ask if he could play with Alex’s hair, always a yes, or if he could borrow his hoodie.

So when the skater asked Alex if he could kiss him, Alex had to say yes. Willie grabbed his wrist and pulled him in gently, so unlike his kiss with Bobby (it left a sour taste in his mouth to know how Bobby- Trevor, had grown), and left little kisses on the sides of his smile before meeting Alex in the middle.

This kiss was a lot slower than his older ones, and lasted only up until Alex had to gather his air again. He was sure his face was going to be stained red judging by the heat on his cheeks, but Willie didn’t comment on it, instead resorting to leaving a kiss on his neck and smiling into Alex’s shoulder.

They fit together so well, too well, and Alex was surprised he’d never noticed it sooner. He fit right in with AlexReggieLuke that soon enough it became AlexReggieLukeWillie.

He was warm in all the right ways, understood when nobody else could, and was as perfect as one could really get as a ghost.

When Willie joined the picture, kisses like that became a lot more frequent.

Update: JATP Theory: Reggie Has Daddy Issues

I just got done with Julie and the Phantoms. I enjoyed the storylines behind the characters, but I was very curious about Reggie when he starts "hanging out" with Julie's dad, Ray. I came up with a theory that explains Reggie's sudden friendship with Ray.

In the 2nd episode, Luke mentions that none of them were close to their families. He points out that Reggie's parents were a fight away from a divorce. It's possible that his parents didn't pay attention to him, specifically his dad. Reggie's father may have been unsupportive of his son's musical passion or just didn't treat him well. Whatever it is, it affected Reggie because he saw no problem with it. It's just something he's used to and he believes it's normal.

In their first scene with Ray, Reggie was taken by surprise because Ray is allowing Julie to play in the garage.

Reggie sees that Ray is a good person and wonderful father. At one point, he believes Ray is actually communicating with them, but remembers that he can't.

Julie learns that Reggie is spending time with her dad.

Even though Ray is unable to see him, Reggie still enjoys his time with him.

The thing that drew him to Ray is that he is incredibly supportive of his daughter's musical career even going as far as to help her achieve her goals. Reggie is not used to this because his father probably disapproved of his musical career and would never help him. This was when Reggie calls him the best dad ever as Ray is the opposite of Reggie’s real father.

Alex finds Reggie is hanging with Ray when he is simply doing his work. After learning about their deal with Caleb, the boys separate and try to cool off. Out of all the places Reggie could’ve gone, he chose to be with Ray. Reggie points out that hanging with Ray always cheers him up, which means that he has done this before. He feels less stressed being with Julie’s father and sees similarities between them.

I'm not sure what this is really about, but my theory is that Reggie likes being with Ray because he's the father Reggie never had. He sees Ray's kind heart and support in Julie's music, which is something he wanted from his own father. Though Ray doesn't know he's there, Reggie makes the most of it, pretending that they're actually talking to each other and hanging out. In his own imagination, Reggie feels like Ray is actually listening, paying attention to him, and not only is he proud of Julie, but also of Reggie.

So that's my theory. I’m really into this show. Can’t wait for season 2!

first creation and most recent creation of 2020: god, i already said this but giffing really became my #1 coping mechanism this year so i have a LOT of stuff just from this year. the first one is this THE WITCHER INTRO CARDS gifset and the most recent is actually my julie’s gifset from yesterday but i’m not satisfied with it so! i’m gonna say this KLAUS AND FIVE PARALLELS gifset instead.

one of your favorite creations from 2020: oof, this is super difficult because i get attached to most of my creations, even if they don’t come out as i initially hoped. i’ll go with this five gifset BIRDS HOVER THE TRAMPLED FIELD just because it’s a perfect example of a rare occurrence aka when both my inspiration and my vision and my skills align and i manage to create something exactly how i first imagined it. and also because i think there’s not better fitting poem for this man.

a creation you’re really proud of: i have a few but maybe this ODE TO NUMBER FIVE gifset just because i had a very specific vibe i wanted to give off and i think i managed alright with the colors, texture and design choices! and then i can’t not mention this YOU WERE ALWAYS GOLD TO ME gifset just because i literally poured all my heart into it. this song and these people mean so so much to me.

a new style you tried this year and a gifset that uses it: my style really evolved at the speed of light starting july and i still can’t believe the things i learned once i just let myself try. i keep having new ideas and trying really hard not to dismiss them and see if they work out, telling myself it’s okay if they don’t! i think this ALLISON HARGREEVES gifset basically has it all: the blending, the font work, the shape play. or even this JATP + BODIES OF WATER type of style, complex blending such as this one WILLEX SUPERSTAR is slowly becoming my trademark and i’m not mad about it, i love playing around with fonts like i did in this ALEXREGGIE gifset even if i know it gets really crowded and hard to read sometimes, or even with lines and block of colors like i did here JATP BORN FOR THIS, i finally got back to play around with textures JATP SCRAPBOOK and even JATP DISCOGRAPHY i also tried my hand at creating entire new “atmospheres” playing with specific visual choices like i did in the HARGREEVES AS PARANORMAL INVESTIGATORS set.

your favorite coloring: okay you guys know coloring is easily my favorite thing to do in the world and i’m usually pretty proud of every outcome because i remember how difficult it was for me, for years i thought i would never learn but i still did it, all by myself just keeping trying like a madwoman lmao basically all my the umbrella academy gifset are my pride and joy because did you see that show? how shitty the lighting is? gifmakers need a miracle every single time. so i’m gonna list a few that i still look at fondly ♥

a creation that took you forever: basically everything i do ahah just because one way or another i always get stuck on something for hours at end be it the fonts or the colors or the scene choices. but i’d say this STRONGER + HAGREEVES SIBLINGS gifset just because my inspiration went off and i decided i wanted to try a bunch of different techniques all at once and my brain didn’t let me rest until i did it all. to think it all started with just that “everyone will know me by a different name” line, oh my god.

your creation from 2020 that received the most notes: this VANYA + HER SIBLINGS LOVE gifset with 15.406 notes that i kinda hate because what’s up with that font? and the ugly coloring?! totally gonna remake this one because they deserve far better.

a creation you think deserved more notes: oh my god deep down i want to be selfish and say so many because that number never really match the effort i  put in most of my gifs but i’ve also learned not to get too bitter about that, few people rb it, even fewer people comment on it but those people are worth more than anyone else. if i had to chose i’d say either the ALWAYS GOLD TO ME set just because it means so much to me, this ALEXREGGIE set that was so fun to make and i love how the colors and the font work came out, this VANYA + EMPATHY set, and this SWEETIE LITTLE JEAN one.

a creation with a favorite scene/quote: i rarely do actual, canonical quotes and i never use just one scene gsjds- so i’ll go with this DIEGO + LOVE FOR HIS FAMILY one even if i don’t like the font and again ALEX&REGGIE being themselves.

Man, I would like to follow some more too, anon. 

Ok, I never did a blog rec before, so please don’t hate me if you don’t get tagged. I’m just talking about blogs I see providing Rhodey content. 

Well, we have to start off with the biggest Rhodey. You should definitely @/alexreggieluke. I personally don’t follow her because our other interest aren’t compatible, but she’s always showing up on my dash, posting amazing Rhodey content, truly the backbone of the Rhodey fandom. She doesn’t post about him as much now, I think, but still worth mentioning on a Rhodey rec. 

Well, @/sreppub makes amazing Rhodey art! They mostly post about pepperony, but there’s the occasional Rhodey in there. I think they’re the only person I’ve ever seen making pepperhony art.... so god bless them, go give them a follow. @shellheadtincan also makes amazing Rhodey art, specifically rhodeytony and specifically about their armors. Which again something that isn’t really seen a lot. @whoispotatoe-s also has really amazing rhodeytony art and sambucky art, and they just generally love Rhodey a lot, so go follow them. 

Well, if it’s gif makers you want then @favreaus and @/tincanmans post about Rhodey sometimes. Not all the time, but he’s definitely one of their favorite characters. @/dailyrhodey is the only source blog I could find for Rhodey, and they’re currently looking for members!

Now onto the writers! (this is mostly rhodeytony writers but. I am an ironhusbands blog, so forgive me) Definitely follow @starkslovemail they post a lot of Rhodey and especially neurodivergent rhodeytony which I’d just like to say... thank you for your service. @lovelyirony writes a lot of rhodeytony! Like a loooooot and it’s all so good and sweet and fluffy. Also go follow @littlemissstark she’s such a talented writer, and she posts a lot of rhodeytony. Go follow @give-me-back-my-rhodey as well. They are a good writer and post about Rhodey a lot. Okay let’s pretend I didn’t forget (I swear, I remembered you but then it just slipped my mind) but also @myheroesrbands has great Rhodey content. 

Well, that’s all my recs. Ineffable husbands! I've never really been into the GO fandom as much — tho I love the book a lot — but the quality content you made or reblogged about them made me change my mind.

P - Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas)

Okay so I am on a bender about positive paternal figures in fiction and Elrond is basically Middle Earth's dad in the third age. So my AU would be that the Valar, in a final attempt to rehabilitate him, release Melkor from the void but they de-age him and send him to Rivendale to be under Elrond's care. Manwe hopes given Elrond's track record, he'd be a positive influence on his chaotic twin.

When Melkor arrives, a hyperactive and just as chaotic 10-year-old, Elladan, Elrohir and Arwen are already grown up. Even Aragorn is a brooding 20-something while Erestor just wants some peace and quiet around the house. Enter a chaotic de-aged, de-powered Vala who keeps Erestor and Elrond up at night with his mischief (sometimes egged on by Glorfindel because he's just as much of a dumpster fire). So while Sauron quietly makes his moves to try reassemble his army and reclaim the ring, Elrond's household is kept incredibly busy by its newest arrival.

(Bonus: Of course Melkor is incredibly fond of Elrond because he gives him the attention he's always craved in Eru but never got it. So he's a loyal kid and Sauron's still loyal to him. Basically the third age ends without bloodshed because Elrond was a good dad)
