i love ur room headcanons soo dearly and also ???? solbin apartment hcs ????? i am eyes-ing them sooo hard 👀👀👀
I was going to post these earlier but I spiraled thinking about their relationship and I'm constantly adding to it
ANYWAY
Why hello there young man! You want to be a wizard? No problem! Welcome to the launchpad academy! And guess what? Tuition free! Resources free! It's all free! Would you like to enroll? Great!
technically not free, by enrolling in the Mothership Launchpad Academy you are agreeing to work off the cost of your education post graduation in a position of employment at MotherShip
Congratulations on graduating! Here's your dead end job you agreed to! And here's your (temporarily) free accommodation!! How generous of us!
Your apartment is in a prime location! Close to the Mothership just in case we need you to cover shifts and so there's less of a chance you'll pass out in the street when we work the maximum legal amount of hours out of you
Now keep in mind that there are a lot of people working for Mothership and we want to keep as many of you as close as we can but you got one of our bigger apartments at a whopping 15m2!!
Why I'd say this apartment is so compact if some idiot tried to draw it they couldn't because everything is so overlapping :')
The bed is on a platform hung from the ceiling. Not a lot of headspace up there. Albins balding is caused by half stress, half whacking his head on the ceiling.
There's a little extra shelving up there and glow in the dark stickers hung to the ceiling.
He uses a stepped wardrobe to climb up to the bed
Oh no...there's just one bed
As much as I ship em Caldwell says Sol sleeps in the bathtub :( so that's canon
but I'm in charge now and I say on those cold winter nights he crawls in bed with Albin (hey if you don't ship it they work different hours they can snooze in bed at different times)
At the bottom of the stepped wardrobe there is just enough space for a desk that faces a window. The one Sol frequently jumps out of to go to work and who can blame him when you're on the hundredth and something floor; that's a lot of stairs and a busy elevator
Tiny bathroom by the entrance that somehow fits a tub in. Sink and toilet that's hidden behind the door when it opens.
The bathroom has a bunch of plants. Mostly plants that like damp climates because Sol sleeps in there and also likes it damp
Sol sometimes sleeps submerged in the water adding a few natural aromatics to the bath to help him sleep; like lavender. He learned the hard way he cannot add a bath bomb or bath salts.
Alternatively he sometimes sleeps in the tub with damp towels lining the bottom and as a blanket.
Sharing a wall with the bathroom is the kitchen. Tiny fridge under the counter. Two ring hob. Tiny oven and sink with some shelves above. Tiny everything.
And just in front the kitchen and beside that desk mentioned earlier there's a small kitchen booth.
And that's all the space they have!
Sol is so used to living in small places. First the shared dorm, tiny apartment then the tiny duck.
With the bed hanging from the ceiling Calder has to really crouch to fit in
Slightly crowded with magical artifacts that turned out to be junk from the fabricated adventures and the comics of their glory days.
Some they managed to sell to places like TGI Skydays for some extra gold. Because when some rent is being taken out of your wage you need extra cash sometimes for things like food
Sol's knitted a cozy for almost everything. Tea cozy, mug cozy, bowl cozy, even a toilet paper cozy
Sol has also knitted their Halloween costumes. They rarely get trick or treaters in the building but they always have a bowl of candy ready. Sol also likes to sit by the window and watch trick or treaters on the street and try to snipe candy from whoever answers the door to give out candy.
Sol has knitted so many holiday sweaters and Albin is too tired to care or refuse wearing them to work.
Albin does the shopping when coming home from his shift before the shops close and Sol cooks. He cooks just before Albin gets home and saves his portion for later. Albin then heats Sols food up before he heads out to his shift and before Sol comes home.
Albin also comes home with things he's stolen from the office. Enchanted stock, office supplies and mage hand is great for getting snacks out the vending machine.
Fortunately they don't have noisy neighbours because everyone is so tired when they get home to their apartments. But there's always drama happening. During the brief time Sol and Albin share at the apartment before one leaves for work they're sharing tea. What's the drama in Albins office. Who they saw leaving whose apartment when they headed out. The people arguing so loud Sol's team was called in due to the disturbance.
Albin secretly has frog merch. A keychain, a clip for his messenger bag. Just as a reminder of his best pal
Sol has a singular star keychain for Albin, cause it matches his cape and hat, and labels Albins lunches with star stickers.
These two nerds, mainly Sol, definitely scrapbook together. They've got one for all their glory days at the academy and one that only has two pages filled when they first moved in and were still excited. They'll fill it one day!
This is also how they determine who's stuff is who's. Frog mug is Sol's. Star mug is Albins. Towel with a embroidered frog. Star slippers. Frog lunchbox. Star coathook.
But it's pointless in the end when they just use each other's stuff. Maybe they just miss each other and want to use their mug and/or are too lazy to wash up their dirty mug in the sink. Who knows!
Sol has put up pictures on the wall of places he wants to go, adventures he wants to have. They have a jar of change their savings up to have a trip on their one rare day off
Sol is hopeful things will still change for the better. So hopeful that he buys things for the S-class apartment they don't have. But we'll have it some day and this pinball machine is on sale now!!!
The pinball machine is now their dining table. There are books under the front legs to level it out
Sol seems like a natural at making friends unlike Albin who's more aware of the growing rift between them from the lack of time they've spent together. Once they went on adventures everyday and had the same class schedule and now they only see each other for half an hour between shifts and on the rare days off
Albin knows Sol does a lot for him and he tries his best to find out what he can about the knights on his break to give Sol a headstart at a chance of promotion
I like to think they leave little things for each other on days they miss these 30 minutes between shifts. A note. A snack. A prank even.
Sharing a space with someone you barely see is lonely. Even seeing a mess left behind is something of a comforting reminder of their presence eases the loneliness.
They both know how much it means to leave something for the other. Because they're not alone. Never have been.

another confession of mine please send asks
anyway, fuck Lowell's s3 redesign. ik he is onscreen in one montage but its so bad yall
so in s1/s2 Lowell just had the generic wolf pup body before evolving into an the white fur red eyes version of the adult werewolf body. again, its just assets from a modpack, but he stood out visually from the rest of his tribe.
in s3, he looks like this
hey why does lowell the last purebred of the southern tribe suddenly have a human form even though that was explicitly impossible in previous seasons?
even if you're gonna give him a human form why would you remove his albinism???? he was explicitly referred to as "the first albino in a long while" why are you retconning rep to give us furry travis?
also he's a member of the dragon ward, which is the Jury clone who's base is at the guard academy built on top of his demolished tribal grounds. lowell is also the only member who isn't an guard and lacks any guard training whatsoever. like he only has the job to fill a diversity quota without considering the in universe implications of the leader of an oppressed community becoming law enforcement for the same ass town who destroyed his homeland.
and his ears look stupid and moldy
#aphmau#aphblr#confessions#minecraft diaries#aphmau werewolves#aphmau mcd#mcd#aphverse#GUYS PLEASE SEND ASKS IM BEGGING

Meet My OCs: Cherevouse
Name: Cherevouse Cherene (she-ri-vow Sh-e-rah-nae) Nicknames: Chev, Shay. Date of Birth: twentieth of April, One-thousand fifty-five AA Age: 24 WIP: Sunset Role: Secondary Character
Quote: "Stop, The Law commands you! hah, I've always wanted to say that."
Background and personality:
Cherevouse was a orphan who was adopted by Angela and Marcus Price when she was just one year old, as a refugee from the city-state of Thae, a city which was besieged by the Winter court. as a infant, she was raised by Angela and Marcus, alongside the other children of the Price noble estate: Jayson, Charles, and Lena. Despite being adopted, Cheverouse uses the last name "Cherene" instead of "Price", to honor her blood parents.
Cheverouse has braided White hair and blueish eyes common to the residents of Thae. Her albinism causes them to look slightly purple in certain lighting conditions. She spent most of her time in the company of Jayson in her early days, since Charles was two years older and Lena had just been born when Cherevouse was 6. She was what one could call a "proper" child, and initially wished to pursue a job as a Teacher. her goal changed when the war started, and she decided to follow Jayson into the academy and take a shot at avenging her family.
Cherevouse has a playful sternness that leaves most people around her confused at how to act around her- at least until they get to know her. She gets things done when they need to get done, and a little bit of fun in the process never hurt anyone.
Hobbies:
Cherevouse loves to sing, but being an executive officer has prevented her from pursuing those hobbies. If asked, her response is, "Paperwork." aside from singing, she loves stargazing.
Relationships:
She and Jayson are engaged- a fact that she occasionally tosses around to First years much to her mirth and Jayson's chagrin. since Knights can't marry until after they have graduated, they are strictly Captain and executive officer, for now.
She has a good relationship with her adoptive parents, and is thankfull that such a family took her in- though she has some choice words about her Adoptive mom.
Cheverouse is very much the Mom of the Seventh Chapter Knights: managing the behind-the-scenes of the team and making sure everything runs smoothly, and makes sure that her relationship with Erain and Rai are friendly; she shares the belief with Jayson that comradery is a essential part in any Knight Chapter.
Miscellanea facts
in her native tongue, "Cheverouse" is a combination of "cheven", meaning "Call" or "Lull", and "ez'revouse", translating roughly to "Of ocean", "Call of (the) Ocean."
She's Pescatarian- that is, Only eats seafood, and not red meat or poultry, the like.

As always, lemme know if you want to be taken off or put on the Taglist. for some reason it was broken and uh this might be the first your hearing abt it(apparently only five tags per line?) Asks are always welcome.
Anyways, happy writing! cheers!

Keellai's lore for my Arcane AU
So some people have shown interest in my Arcane oc so I might as well write a quick text post about what I got so far:
Keellai began as an experiment, his father wanted to create life with the Arcane, combining biology with magic. His father worked at the academy at the time as a biology professor and as the council heard about this they sought him out, asking if Keellai could possibly be made as a useful tool, a living weapon of sorts.
Keellai's father accepted and he got the neccessary funding to continue his research. He combined his DNA together with the Arcane and after a few failed attempts as he was getting the numbers right Keellai was made. He was supposed to be born without emotions, you know easier to control and all that, but something happened and that didn't happen.
Anyway later in the story someone finds out about the experiment from the outside so the council being the council tries to save their own asses from controversy and begins painting Keellai's father in a bad light, spreading lies and rumors and ultimately get him exiled from Piltover.
His father moves to Zaun together with Keellai and as throughout the years he grows more hateful and spiteful to the point he begins experimenting on himself, changing himself to be more machine than man and he takes a lot of this anger out on his son, who he doesn't see as a person but rather as "a tool that is meant to be used." Keellai is also kept in a small as fuck room until he is "useful".
Now when does he and Viktor meet each other? Currently in my AU they meet around the time in Viktor's flashback just as Sky leaves, Keellai has just gotten out of his father's lab and he falls down that cliff face that we see behind where Viktor is sitting (dw he gets better lmao).
They end up bonding and over time they start dating (I would say a few years before Viktor leaves for the academy). When Viktor leaves for the academy he fails to tell Keellai so they end up not seeing each for 10-ish years or so (I would say around act 1 is when they reunite).
Some Keellai facts:
He was born with albinism.
His forearms are made of crystal, think like those smooth hex crystals, you can see through them and see his skeleton.
Can shapeshift among other things!
Due to multiple TBI (Traumatic Brain Injuries) one of his pupils tend to stay bigger than the other.
He identifies as genderfluid and doesn't mind people using any pronouns aside from it/its for personal reasons relating to objectification and dehumanization, he does tend to use he/him the most however.
Pan- and demiromantic.
Viktor is the one who gave him his name seeing as his father never gave him one (again as a control tactic to dehumanize and objectify him).
A massive people pleaser, almost to an extreme degree.
Is a pretty great engineer! He loves to create, especially stuff that helps people.
Riddled with PTSD, has had psychosis on a few occasions.

Some Wings of Fire ocs I made that centre around Jewel Mountain Academy (my fan universe’s version of JMA)
Brightstar is an albino NightWing with strong mind reading powers, and is the sister of Starling. She is ostracized by other NightWings because of her albinism (which makes her a terrible night hunter), but since her mother is the princess of the NightWings, the others resort to petty rumours and back-handed remarks about her. In terms of personality, she’s the most like Moonwatcher.
Slate is a melanistic IceWing with a bad temper and a prickly exterior. Like Brightstar, he is the victim of a lot of bullying and remarks due to his condition, and ends up bonding with her due to that. His best friend (and probably his only friend) is Frostbite, and they often banter about how boring school is.
Limestone is the newest member of the Amethyst winglet, and is a CaveWing with a big heart. He is the youngest of his family, and was the one to first meet the dragons of the surface world after 4,500 years (whole story about the history of the CaveWings someday). He can be a bit cowardly at times, but he tries his best, and wants to do his best to represent the CaveWings in his winglet.
Rook is a young RoostWing princess who has gone through a lot in her life. She lost her mother when she was 2 years old in a forest fire, and had to make the big move with the rest of her tribe when they moved from their island home to the main continent. She is sweet and caring to everyone, but isn’t afraid to stand up for herself. She has abnormally small wings, and takes flight lessons to strengthen them with Manatee.
Starling is the RoostWing’s first seer, and is eager to prove his abilities to everyone. He was gifted as an egg to the RoostWings by Queen Dreamcatcher of the NightWings as the RoostWings designated seer, and was absolutely pampered by his adoptive parents. He has a great friendship with Rook (that may develop into something more), and is considered a golden child in the eyes of many dragons.
Lion is probably the least important and interesting of the group, but still provides a good role to the dynamic. He is the half brother of Toxin (a Sand/Hive hybrid who recently graduated from Jewel Mountain), and is basically the opposite of her. He is peppy and very musical, probably due to his mother being the SandWing’s most popular musician. It’s hard to tell in his picture, but he has an abnormally large sail which often droops and flares out in the wind, which gave him his name.
Lastly, we have Frostbite and Sunset, two Ice/Sky hybrid siblings. They were separated at birth, and never met eachother until they arrived at Jewel Mountain and were put into the same winglet. Ever since then, they have been inseparable, and Sunset has even thought of moving to the IceWing kingdom to live with her brother. They act very similar, and behave almost like twins the way they interact. Their father is a SkyWing blacksmith who raised Sunset, and their mother is an IceWing noble who raised Frostbite.

Here goes nothing, so here are some friends and more family of Damian (Jon's not his only friend)✨️
In case you ever want to read the comics I included some spoilers ig and pictures too!
Maya Ducard (aka Nobody)
So, Damian killed her father. Yikes. He is eventually forgiven in the comic series, Robin: Son of Batman. Which features one of the few depictions of brown Damian
She's his big sister (Damian being 10 y.o. in R:SoB and Maya 14 y.o.)
She was the first person of his siblings that he called by their name.
She helps Damian with undercover missions (as seen in Supersons), is a proficient fighter, also an ex-assassin, and the voice of reason.
Maya is black-latina.
Maya hasn't appeared in the recent timeline, last she was seen with Kathy (aka Beacon) in their own base.
If I'm not mistaken there's one maribat fic that's got her
She's family 💖
Suren Darga
Like Damian, they both are initially interested into following their father's footsteps.
The Darga and the al Ghuls are rivals. But DC hasn't mentioned again since R:SoB
He's arab too! Like Damian.
Suren is a magician too.
If you think the al Ghuls are stuck in past, the Darga's are way more in the past.
He's also pretty exaggerated. I think he was dead but got resuscitated (it's been years since I've read R:SoB and my English wasn't as good as it is now)
Damian relates and cares for him in his own way.
Colin Wilkes
He's an orphan, who's also a meta-human. Colin was experimented on, and when he's using his powers he doesn't look alike, he goes by Abuse.
He's a little bit like Jon, except that Jon is a little shit who never hesitates to fight Damian. Colin is a nice kid.
He appears a lot in Li'l Gotham. Damian takes him to the BatCave, and even lets his friend use a batsuit.
Colin hasnt appeared in a while because DC doesn't like Damian having friends or something.
Mia "Maps" Mizoguchi
She's from the comic series "Gotham Academy" (currently working on a fic that has the GA kids)
I never understood if Maps got a crush on Damian or on his weapon(?) But they're cute together
She's a bit eccentric, likes to wear suits instead of dresses.
Maps like cartography, that's where the nickname Maps comes from.
She gets into trouble a lot. Dreams to be Robin, well she kindda is.
Maps as Robin was a thing during the We Are Robin arc, and on one more newish solo issue which probably means there's more of Gotham Academy in the works!!!
I've read one or two maribat fics that feature her!
Kathy Branden (aka Beacon)
She's actually not Damian’s friend, she's Jon's.
Kathy is Jon's neighbor from when they lived in Hamilton County and he went by Jonathan Samuel White.
She's an alien like Jonny.
Seemingly DC was aiming to pair them.
So, Kathy and Damian develop a friendly relationship and ofc they're allies.
She lives on her own, in her farm along with Maya.
Mara al Ghul
Cousin of Damian
Damian left her blind on one eye while after sparring she launched a dagger at him and he did the same to her but :/
She's the daughter of Dusan al Ghul (aka White Ghost), older than Talia but because of his albinism he was discarded of being the heir.
They have reconciled
Athanasia al Ghul
She just appears in Injustice and she's Damian's bio-sister.
Daughter of Bruce and Talia.
She was kept hidden while Damian was away with Bruce.
I guess, Flatline (a love interest) and Connor Hawk enter into this category too but I don't particularly care for them. Flatline is a new character from the Robin solo and Connor was revived(? for the solo too ig
Here's a pic that's got Flatline, Connor, and Rose too bc she was important too
#maribat#🧊🍈 rambles#i got into dc because of jon#but stayed bc of damian#and then i read gotham academy#which then lead me to maribat

Top 5 sorcerer basckstories!!
I'm choosing to interpret "backstories" literally instead of mechanically (PF bloodlines, 5e origins), 'cuz there are quite a lot that aren't covered that way. As such...
#5: Lab Accident
Sugar. Spice. And Everything Nice. These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little girl. But Professor Utonium accidentally unloaded added an extra ingredient to the concoction: a can of whoop-ass Chemical X. Thus, the Powerpuff Girls were born! Using their ultra super powers, Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup have dedicated their lives to fighting crime and the forces of evil!
It could be a chemical (modern science)/alchemical concoction, a laser, some sort of cosmic energy, lightning, or whatever; you weren't meant to be exposed to it, but you were. As a result, you have powers.
Bear in mind that while this is a comic book cliche (emphasis on cliche: I hate that the MCU decided to emphasize the Science Origin for all heroes [even Thor] prior to Doctor Strange), but it works well in D&D because no one uses it. Sorcerers have a hard time distinguishing themselves from Wizards because Wizards were already about throwing fireballs, lightning bolts, and magic missiles before Sorcerers were distinguished from them (and pigeonholed into doing the exact same thing). Embrace that by flipping the tables: instead of having a magical talent that got you inducted into a prestigious academy for wizardry, be some sort of academic who in the course of their studies inadvertently gained godlike power.
#4: Psychological Problem
In Matilda, the eponymous protagonist develops telekinesis because she's supremely intellectually gifted and under-challenged by her course work -- her brain has to do something with the extra power. (We all wish we were Matilda.) Matilda doesn't have a diagnosable disorder underlying her powers (at least, from this explanation; there's a lot to that book), but boredom from lack of stimulation still constitutes a psychological problem. (Plenty of characters with powers have psychological issues, as well.)
#3: Touched by Vorlons
You don't have to enter into a relationship with a magical being (i.e., be a Cleric or Warlock) to be affected by one and gain powers. H.P. Lovecraft's Great Old Ones were prone to have their thoughts and dreams invade those of mere mortals (largely unintentionally), which could have all sorts of warping potential. People who claim to have been abducted by aliens (or faeries) sometimes also claim to have developed latent clairvoyant (or similar) abilities.
This is essentially the same thing as #5 except that it roots you into the Weird part of the world instead of having some academic pursuit make you adjacent to it. As with Warlocks, Clerics, and Sorcerers with an inheritance backstory, this gives the DM grounds for possible encounters and you room to question your relationship with the world beyond mortal society.
#2: Lab Rat
Your powers weren't accidental at all; you were created to be what you are. Are you a monster? A god? Something else entirely?
Rei Ayanami. Sephiroth. Mewtwo. Other albinism-coded psychics. Eleven. That one artificial god in the Fool's Gold campaign. You get the idea. Floating in a giant tube of liquid. Frankensteinian hubris. A test subject who only wants love but is never treated as a person. Revenge. Explosions. Psychokinetic freakouts.
I love this trope. Lovelovelovelovelove.
#1: Fluke of (Super)Nature
You just have powers. You don't know how. They developed at some point in your life. Maybe you have control over them, maybe you don't. Maybe they're tied to your more volatile emotions, maybe they require a special trance-like state, maybe they burst forth during puberty, maybe maybe maybe.
This may seem to be boring, but it does force you to flesh out how your spells affected your development. Are they tied to your emotional volatility? Do you have full control of them? Did they brand you a freak, a celebrity, or a prodigy in some area? Do you love them or resent them? Do your powers make you feel special, different, or just you?

some various bianca facts while i work on finishing up her icons. <:)
bianca's luxray is the equivalent of a seeing - eye dog for her. he has a special harness that her mothers made for her so he could safely walk her around if she doesn't trust just her walking stick. he is also trained to shock anyone that intentionally tries to get too close to bianca / tries to touch her without letting her know first.
because of her albinism she is considered legally blind — she can still see, but everything is incredibly blurry, &&. she can only really tell things apart by color. she has no real depth perception, shape recognition, etc.
her hair really does go down to her butt. she has no intentions of shortening it unless it becomes too much for her to handle. she's really proud of it for one, &&. her mothers also adored taking care of her hair while they were still around, so she doesn't have the heart to cut it off.
director clavell allows her to remain in her dorm year-to-year without any kind of student payments or anything due to the fact her mothers were teachers at the academy before their passing. ida taught foreign languages, while alicia taught biology.
please adopt her she's lonely.
bianca absolutely hates the academy uniform, though. like. she loves wearing her dresses &&. sweaters &&. the like from home. part of the appeal of team star for her before she left was rejecting the uniform but. lmao
her favorite places to visit when shopping ( or eating ) needs to be done are medali &&. artazon.
if you're friends with her, expect her to reach out at some point &&. touch your face so she can make a mental image of your features ( with permission, of course. )

Why is Elaine so angry all the time?
It's no secret that Elaine Sagael has the quickest and rage-filled temper. She will jump at the chance of a fight and will not hold back for fear of hurting anyone- after all, as annoying as he is, Ryan will just heal them afterward. Her life is not necessarily any more difficult than anyone else at the academy. Some might even say that she was privileged as the younger daughter of the Headmaster, as it seemed that she was able to release her anger with little to no consequence under his rule.
She is the outlier within the Headmaster's family; the one who looks out of place with her snowy hair and ultra-pale complexion. This is not just because of her albinism but is also the reason that her father does not truly accept her as his daughter. With features just similar enough to Maishear and Mesaiad's children, she could almost pass as one of their biological children, and many assume she is. Given up as a baby by her biological parents, Elaine feels as though she is missing part of her identity. With no idea who they were and the fact that they were most certainly killed during the genocide, she knows that she will never get to explore that part of herself.
After Jacob joined the observance program and seeing their father's approval, Elaine joined as well. While she developed her skills, working hard to keep up with her brother and hoping that her success would emit the same pride for her, Maishear only grew more focused on Jacob, leaving Elaine in the shadows. Despite her competition with her brother, she remained close to him as he continued to support her and helped her improve.
She formed a cold shell around herself to protect herself from her father's abuse. Socially stunted due to her different appearance, that shell only grew thicker as she was put down for being born different. She learned that the only people she could depend on were her siblings and her mom. Everyone else would be held at a distance. Her whole world began to crash around her as Amber turned her back on their family, shaking the only foundation she had.
With only Jacob and her mom in her corner, she grew more desperate to keep them close, paranoid that they would leave too. Her fears came to fruition when Jacob left the academy, and therefore her. While she still had her mom, she went about her everyday life in the academy alone. Without her connection to the others, she was no longer part of a team, but isolated. Then her mother was gone, and the hole that had started growing a year before had encompassed her heart.
Elaine had never been one to be affectionate or kind, but having the few that were supposed to always be there suddenly be gone with little to no answers as to why only fueled the fury that already flowed through her veins. When Jacob returned, she could no longer trust him to be there. He had already proven to her that he was willing to leave her alone, and he hadn't been there when she needed him most.
With her cold presence, explosive temper, and unfriendly remarks, Elaine makes herself appear as though she hates the world. Her pension for hurting people does not help her case. She is, however, one of the most passionate forces in the academy as she longs for a life where she could feel safe and supported. She will do anything to protect those she cares about; the trick is only allowing herself to trust anyone. In the meantime, she vents her anger through battle and will continue to hurl half-hearted insults at anyone who might become too attached.

Entry 5 - Organisational Culture - importance of internships
An internship is usually a student carrying out a period of time in an organisation which provides experience (Narayanan, et al., 2010).
Many universities offer students internship opportunities as they provide an opportunity to use things they have learnt in the classroom in the workplace (Fuller & Schoenberger, 1991; Hecker, 1992). Internship applications are often a lengthy competitive process (Albin, Et al, 2000)
Organisational culture is important to an organisation, as culture can be curated and be a part of a company’s competitive advantage (Ouchi, & Wilkins, 1985).
Organisational has levels and essentially communicates the brands and values of said company (Ouchi, & Wilkins, 1985).
Workplaces with a strong coherent culture are more likely to have increased worker satisfaction and achieve set goals (Marker, 2009).
Initially culture was thought to be internal and have coordination benefits however it is now known that it has brand benefits which reflect outwards of the company (Marker, 2009).
It is imperative for a company to know which organisational values they have as a brand or that they wish to achieve (Lee, 2023).
Internships are a win-win for both students and potential employees. Companies receive temporary assistance at a cost-effective rate, and students are more likely to find full time employment post-graduation (Narayanan, et al., 2010).
Garavan & Murphy (2001) states that “student learning is the major outcome. Internships may help students acquire job relevant skills.”
Internships are considered important to jobs where craft or experience is required (Beard, & Morton, 1998).
Not only job skills relevant but other areas such as critical thinking, problem solving are used in real workplace scenarios (Garavan & Murphy, 2001).
Internships also show students how to fit into workplace structure, understand culture and socialise amongst other industry professionals (Garavan & Murphy, 2001).
Students who complete internships make better career choices and are often more ambitious as they taste what working in the industry is like (Narayanan, et al., 2010).
Students with internship experience are also less likely to experience a reality shock when coming out of academic learning as they know what is required to complete the job (Narayanan, et al., 2010).
Given all this data, the internship Holmesglen provides is important in setting students up with experience and employment opportunities post graduating.
The internships are necessary if students apply themselves correctly and wish to achieve substantial success post-graduation.

The Swedish men are having something of a disaster run. Got demoted to Nations League division C recently. They have good players such as Forsberg, Kulusevski, Isak, Lindelöf and Albin Ekdahl, but they also have a problem with depth. Last they played I think I counted that the 23 players were in 18 or 19 different clubs, and a LOT of different countries, they’re very spread out. I wonder if it’s a problem that they get so little time together, and don’t play together at club, or even in the same leagues or same countries.
It’s not easy, but I think the federation should encourage players to stick to the big countries leagues, so that maybe more of them might play together at club level or be more used to the same system and have the same schedule. Right now players are all over, the bigger leagues and Sweden, Norway and Denmark, but also Poland, Czech Republic, Israel, Saudi Arabia, USA, Turkey and before the war, Russia. And the German and English second divisions even for some of the depth players. And not to sound arrogant but how good are the leagues in some of these countries? They might be offered good contracts but how much quality training and playing are they getting, to develop? I would almost prefer players to be in the Championship, 2 Bundesliga or Sweden or Denmark rather than going to less well known leagues in smaller countries. The upcoming games in January will be interesting as they will be almost only Allsvenskan players.
In general, I think the standard of the Sweden’s men’s teams points to two things. First, Sweden is a small country. We’re always gonna have a smaller player pool and less depth than England, Germany, Spain, France and others. We might see that more and more on the women’s side too, as some of these countries now invest more women’s football compared to 10-20 years ago, and especially, are more encouraging of women to play. But also, other countries of comparative size are doing better. There might be reason for the Swedish federation to look at how player development works, are the academies competitive, and so on.
Yikes that a rough bout of form
