Tell us basics about Thalassa! OwO A bit of backstory and personality

5. Class: Ritualist (Sinistrope/Phasmalist)

6. Birthplace: Nehrim, near Ostian

7. Physical appearance:

7.1. Height: 1,74 m

7.2. Weight: 49 kg

7.3. Eye color: bluish pink

7.4. Body type: Slim. No chances to survive face-to-face fight.

7.5. Heath condition: frequent headaches, ocular albinism, poor eyesight, photophobia, astigmatism, nystagmus.

7.6. Hair: Wavy, black, medium length.

7.7. Taste in clothes: no bare skin is shown. Thalassa covers her face with bandages and hood. She always wears phasmalist amulet hidden under clothes; reading glasses; smoking pipe with peaceweed tobacco (she also has an extra one just in case). In her travels Thalassa wears leather armor, bandoliers with potions and herbs, and a dagger. She has an adventurer’s kit as well.

8. Early biography: Thalassa was born in a family of ahrorma mage and nehrim hunter, who lived in a secluded place near Ostian. Her mother taught her how to use bandages and clothes to hide her outstanding skin color, how to protect her eyes from blinding light and how to be discreet.

At the age of 8 Thalassa showed magical abilities for the first time, so her mother started to teach her in a rather strict manner, but the girl wasn’t able to do anything more complex than a bunch of sparkles. After one of those lessons Thalassa wanted to show magic sparkles to her sister and set her bed on fire accidentally. Their mother heard the noise, put the fire out, scolded Thalassa and prohibited the use of magic at home.

Problems with controlling the ‘arcanist eye’ arose. Sometimes Thalassa saw ethereal projections of otherwordly people, but more often she heard distant mumbling words from afar. This scared her at first, but then she learned how to make profit out of this: finding a lost intricate here, hiding in a secret place there. Due to the control issues the need in ambrosia appeared, and her parents not only spent all their money on it, but had to borrow extra. Thalassa was actively helping her parents: jointing carcasses with father and gathering alchemy plants with mother.

At the age of 9 Thalassa learned how to close her arcanist eye, so the need in the ambrosia disappeared, but the family still needed to pay back their debt.

When she had free time, Thalassa was practicing magic in the nearby forest. Once she was spotted by a hunter, who was passing by. He thought she was a demon and thus reported to Ostian temple, hoping they will deal with this problem.

They did.

When Thalassa came home after another practice, all she found were only burning ruins and dead bodies. That left deep markings in Thalassa’s soul and shut down her ability to control the visions of Sea of Eventualities temporary.

She went to the city, hoping it will be easier to survive this way, and met Sirius there some time later. They become buddies, then friends and then spiritual relatives.

From this moment on Thalassa and Sirius lived in one of the abandoned houses in the city, moving from one to another regularly. They worked and hid, trying to survive, and only some time later they thought about escaping the consequences of war, moving to Enderal and starting life anew.

Strong empathy, which is highly inconvenient - she shares the feelings of her interlocutor, which are not always pleasant. Due to this and Ostian incident, she tries to cut her social life to the most necessary minimum and to be as discreet as possible. 

Emotional instability due to strong empathy. Regular mood swings and overreaction. Thalassa can lose control over her rage easily and it can lead to hurting others. Sometimes she stops the discussion in the middle of it to maintain self-control, but often fails in that, ending up in tears. Thalassa cannot receive criticism adequately. She smokes peaceweed tobacco regularly to soften empathy consequences and is anxious if she doesn’t have a smoking pipe in immediate accessibility.

Unsocial. Thalassa tries to avoid contacting with other people without urgent necessity. She is even more unsocial if suffering from a headache.

Secrecy isues. Due to her traumatic past, Thalassa doesn’t want to speak about her previous life. She cuts the questions about her race and look with a penny dreadful about incurable disease, because she is scared people will call her a demon because of her appearance, just like it was before.

Pessimism. Negative, sceptical and gloomy opinion about ‘better future’.

Insatiable greed for money. Thalassa catches every opportunity to earn some coins, but she spends money only on necessary things. She started her studies in alchemy only to shorten the expenses on ambrosia and other potions.

Untidiness. Thalassa doesn’t care about her clothes. As far as she can find stuff in her house, she is okay with any kind of mess.

10.2. Cons:

Insightful. Thalassa notices the details quickly when she is calm; it’s hard to deceive her, as she gets vis-a-vis motives easily.

Love of knowledge. Firstly, Thalassa is worried that she can lose the self-control again. Secondly, she is highly motivated to understand and improve her abilities, so she collects books about magic and studies them. Somehow Thalassa found herself interested indifferent non-study subjects as well - so she reads other books for relaxing.
