The world's worst siblings

I have lore surrounding red highlights on SeaWings that I plan to divulge into at a later post. But basically, Albatross and Lagoon's grandmother was a deep-sea SeaWing and some of her traits were passed down to her children and descendants, this is also why I plan to give Anemone pink highlights, as that gene is still in the royal family but over generations has faded

albatross was one of the most relatable characters ever in the entire wof series to me personally (not the massacre) every remark, expression, action of his. I felt it like i was inside his mind, because i know exactly how he feels

Queen Lagoon and Albatross

I drew this piece just short of a year ago. Im still pretty proud of it. It's a redraw of an old drawing I did featuring a scene from Wings of Fire: Darkstalker. Specifically when Albatross kills Queen Lagoon- starting the seawing royal massacre.

I hate how many times people are out here calling both Albatross and Arctic irredeemable. Lagoon abused Albatross, he was a victim in all of what happened to him, it was truly just a worst moment situation that the party happened when it did.

And with Arctic oh my god with Arctic it's just as bad. He left a situation that he didn't want to be in, he incorrectly worded a spell and had dragons killed because of it, when he was not even SEVEN. And then Foeslayer's mother started to push her and Arctic to have dragonets before either of them were even adults. You're telling me, Arctic spent all of the better part of his life, for 23 entire years, being looked down upon the Icewings, and then the Nightwings, who only saw him as a tool to get Nightwing animus'

They didn't even try to hear his side, didn't even try to nurture him, they only wanted him for his magic. He's tragic, and the spells he did only hurt him more, and it made him hurt others, but, everyone treats these two like they're evil and irredeemable when in reality they're tragic and nuanced didn't deserve the cards they were dealt in canon AND fanon. It didn't help immediately upon birth Darkstalker decided to make it his life's goal to make Arctic even more miserable. His actions aren't justifiable, but damnit do they make sense given the shit he's had to deal with. I just wish more people could see eye to eye on some of these characters and just how complex they truly are.

Our worst moments do not define who were are as people.

i love him sm. creature. just wanted to sketch albatross. probably gonna adjust the design a little bit next time i draw him, but this is generally how i imagine him looking.

Still getting the feel for digital art again! I practiced on Albatross. I spent FOREVER trying to get his face right, and while I'm still not totally satisfied with it, I'm posting it anyways.

I tried to balance his sad old man energy with a sense of elegance, and I gave him the same string of pearls I gave Manta <3 I think the two cared for each other a lot, but Lagoon tried to keep them apart whenever she could. He also has some hints of red for... foreshadowing.
