What if?
Aladdin and Jasmine adopted Jay when he was to young to remember anything. Like 1 or 2. So he's raised thinking he's their biological son and is Aziz's younger brother. But he learns when he's 11 from some spiteful staff that he's Jafar's son.
And then the spark of hate starts, because Aladdin and Jasmine lied to him. And they took him from his real dad, Jay wants to meet him, to see if he's as bad as he's been told.
Jay slowly got angrier each day passed as Aladdin and Jasmine continued on like nothing, as if they hadn't lied to him. The 11 year old got more snappish and angry at them and even Aziz. They just chalked it up to puberty. Then 1 day when Genie was over. Before bed Jay pulled Genie aside and asked the dreaded question to get the truth truth. He knew Genie wouldn't lie to him about it, and he didn't.
Genie looked surprised and upset that Jay asked whether he was Jafar's son and not Aladdin and Jasmines, and asked where he heard that from. Jay didn't answer and just demandes Genie tell him. Genie reluctantly told him the truth. He was Jafar's son. Jay snapped at him, wanting to know why he wasn't told. Genie said they wanted to wait until you were older. Then Jay said he wanted to met Jafar.
Genie flat out refused and got more serious than Jay had ever seen. When Aladdin and Jasmine found them having looked for Jay to put him to bed. "He knows" Genie said. Aladdin and Jasmine froze while Jay glared at them. After a bit if back and forth Jay made it clear he wanted to meet Jafar.
When Jasmine snapped. "You're not meeting him!" She snapped, scaring Jay, he had only known her as mom, calm, collected, playful, and loving. He had never heard her snap. Jays fear shifted to anger and he glared at them. And left them, going to his room and locking the door. Not opening even when he heard a knock, not opening when he heard his and Aziz's knock to signal that it's just them.
He got under the covers but couldn't sleep. He never could, he always had problems sleeping, Aladdin and Jasmine planned to get him to some sleep therapist in 2 days but Jay didn't want to see them.

Finally, here’s the last villain kid of my Descendants redesigns, Jay! For his character, I imagined that Jafar implemented rougher parenting than Queen Grimhilde or Cruella, and subjected Jay to living the life of a street rat to toughen him up (I love the live action take on Jafar where he’s a social climber and started off like Aladdin as a street rat and a thief), give him the natural tools to fend for himself, and scrapping with brutes on the daily. I liked the idea that that would be where he naturally gets his athleticism and good instincts in his physicality. Any gold items and trinkets on his person are things he’s swiped from others, and unlike Carlos, because Jafar is exiled from the palace and without his genie magic, Jay hasn’t inherited any fineries for his wardrobe.

Descendants Headcanons
While all of the kingdoms are united, each of the smaller regions are still ruled by their respective royalty. In places like Charmington, I see it has multiple rulers that work together.
Out of all the royals, Kuzco and Snow White are taken the least seriously. They are seen how they were in their respective stories instead of how they are now, adults in their thirties.
I see Snow and her prince being divorced in the Descendants franchise. It’s not advertised, and Snow drives from her kingdom to Charmington for her reporting job. If it wasn’t for that job, she would rather not be there.
The Dwarves help run Snows kingdom. I see her turning to them after the divorce and they all have high ranking advising jobs in the kingdom.
Snow dose not hold Evie accountable for the Evil Queen’s actions, and gives her the biggest hug when Doug brings her home to meet the family. Snow sees how happy she makes Doug, and that’s all she needs to know about her to accept her.
Kuzco and Snow also have the most protected state forests in the kingdom. Snow wanted a place for all the magical animals to live without fear as the other kingdoms developed more and more while Kuzco knew that overdevelopment would destroy the beauty his kingdom. Both kingdoms have seen an influx of people who want to live simpler lives or lives that reflected what they used to do before the United States of Aurudon was created.
Kuzco was 100% against sending people to the isle. Like, some people only worked for the villains because they really needed a job. His best example would be Kronk, who is a sweet soul and could do no real evil.
For the heroes that didn’t come from royalty and then married into royalty had quite a hard time adjusting to being in a world of politics and royal courts. Most times they focus on being a voice for the people who have to deal with the fallout of their leader’s decisions.
Eugene and Aladdin are best friends when it comes to boring meetings and political parties. They like to steal each others stuff the entire time and by the end they give everything back. There are things that both have noted as off limits in their unspoken rules of the game. When the two were first starting the game Jasmine was mortified while Rapunzel was happy that Eugene is making friends.
Jay wants to play the game with Eugene and Aladdin but Evie won’t let him.
Eugene, Aladdin, and Cinderella are the most likely to take things from the hotel. Cindi will stick to things like soap or pens, but Eugene and Aladdin will take anything not nailed down that they can sneak past their wives.
Eugene has pens and paper pads on him at all time so Rapunzel can doodle whenever she wants. All of these items are off limits in the game, because they aren’t his they are his wife’s.
Rapunzel and Mal love talking about different types of art at royal events, and Rapunzel has invited Mal to Corona so they can work on a Mural together. Eugene has given Ben the wisest advice about always having art supplies on him.
For Mother’s Day, Eugene works hard on making Rapunzel duck tape and paper flower pens because he knows she would like them more than real flowers. Rapunzel refuses to throw any of them away. She stores them in a special vault. May their be mercy on any poor soul that tries to break in and try to steal any of them.
Dude is very protective of Carlos, and barks at any dogs that try to get near him. As a stray who found a loving boy, he would protect this boy to the very end. Even against things that are not a threat.
I see Rodger Radcliffe being Aurudon prep’s music teacher and brings some of the Dalmatians during midterms and finals as a way to help out kids that are stressed.
Anita Radcliffe sees how talented Evie is and would support her business as a fellow designer.
I do want to talk more about these Headcanons as well as develop some aus for this series. Feel free to ask me anything about these or the aus I want to develop.

Just got done reading @ruffoverthinksthings series about religion on the Isle of the Lost, which ended with Jay's first real encounter with Islam.
For context, in that series of posts, Jafar is a major heretic and hates anything having to do with Islam (and religion in general) and would HATE if Jay started following it.
Building off of that last one where Jay visits the rundown mosque on the Isle, he goes leaves and thinks about what he was told. The rules don't make a lot of sense to him, but the sheer contrast between the order and goodwill of religion vs. the chaos and backstabbing of the Isle... piques his interest.
He goes back on a Friday a few days later, not because he's looking to convert, he's just curious (or so he tells himself). He hides in the back corner of the men's section (not that it does much. There's only about a dozen people there) and just watches.
After the service, Mhira talks to him and ends up offering to help him with his Arabic. There's not a lot of Arabic texts on the island, so Jafar mostly taught him with handwritten stuff when Jay was a kid. By the time he's in his teen years, he's out of practice and has forgotten half of it.
Next thing Jay knows, he's at the mosque every Friday and the things they tell him are starting to make a lot more sense. He formally converts to Islam when he's 14.
He's not a super strict follower (as in, he doesn't follow all the rules all the time), mostly because it's just not practical. Praying makes you vulnerable if you're alone and he'd like to not die, thank you very much; also, if Jafar knew, he'd be a dead man anyway. Mal and the gang don't really understand it, but they do watch his back when he's praying sometimes.
Fast forward to Auradon, he doesn't bother trying to find a mosque the first few weeks. They're just going to get the wand and get out anyway. It doesn't matter. (He's definitely not feeling any guilt about helping to unleash the villains on an unsuspecting Auradon. Nope. Not at all)
He does still pray, though. Luckily, he has lunch period during dhuhr so he just slips out and finds an out of the way spot with a closable door. One day, he's setting up and the door opens.
Turns out, Aziz's usual spot is taken, so he came to his backup spot. He doesn't know Jay very well at this point, but he had always assumed he'd be like his father: either with crazy ideas about Islam, or just a total atheist.
They eye each other for a few seconds, one wary, the other simply surprised, before Aziz goes and sets up next to Jay. They pray together quietly and leave without a word to each other, but Aziz makes an effort to be nice to Jay (and the other VKs by extension) after that.
He also calls his parents that night like, "You will not BELIEVE who I ran into during Dhuhr today!"

(Suggestion from @lizluvscupcakes)
I gotcha darling- Jay’s middle name + meaning
Jay Nasir
A name of Arabic origin meaning “defender” or “the one who gives victory”. Within the core four, Jay definitely takes on the defensive role, always being the first to jump in to protect his friends fitting into his sort of “big brother” vibe. As for the second meaning, it was made clear in D1 that Jafar always wanted Jay to be the best, to get the gold, to quote Jay directly “as my father says, the only way to win is to make sure everyone else loses” and his and his father’s “there’s no team in I” mantra. Jafar wants Jay to be the sole victor in life to make up for his failings in the original Aladdin movie, often punishing Jay for not meeting those expectations in his childhood, but by D3, Jay has “granted victory” in a sense by living a happy life free of his father’s expectations
Hope that pleases you- please keep feeding me more suggestions

Angry Beyond Measure Descendants Jay oneshot fic
They tired to help, tried to control it, tried to help get energy out but it never worked, Jay was always so angry with everyone, the world.
Fairy Godmother tried first with the remedial goodness but it only served to make him dislike her. Then Coach Jenkins tried, with Jay on the Tourney team, it worked with some of the anger but stopped after some time.
Jay was angry, always angry, under his to sharp smiles and guarded eyes there was always anger just sitting there waiting to burst every second.
Jay paced back and forth in his room, his anger simmering just beneath the surface like a dormant volcano ready to erupt(It did everyday but it never left). He could never shake off the bitterness that ate at him day in and day out. Auradon, with its pristine streets and gleaming palaces, was nothing but a facade to him. Behind the facade, there lay a reality that Auradon turned a blind eye to – the suffering of those who didn't fit into their perfect ideals.
He stared out of the window, watching the Auradon sun with a mixture of resentment and anger. How could Auradon be so blind? How could they turn away from the pain and suffering of others, pretending that everything was perfect in their little utopia?
It wasn't perfect. Not for him. Not for the children of villains who were treated like third-class citizens, lower than dirt, as if they were tainted by the sins of their parents. Jay's childhood had been a nightmare, overshadowed by the constant abuse and manipulation of his father.
He clenched his fists, feeling the anger bubbling up inside him like a pot of boiling water. He blamed Auradon for everything, for turning a blind eye to the Isle suffering, for allowing villains like his father have their own children who were little more than slaves and punching bags.
He felt the familiar rage and hate grow in his chest and he felt a few cracks of pure energy around his hands when, "Kid!" Coach Jenkins called from the hall. Jays head snapped to him, "Practice was changed from 3-4:30," Coach said. Jay nodded, feeling his anger ebb ever so slightly. Tourney was always good to get anger out but it's been working less and less lately.
"Alright" Jay nodded, pushing down the flare of anger knowing he had remedial goodness next...
When Jay left remedial goodness he was seething. Who the hell did that Fae think she was scolding them and treating them like children for something they didn't even do. Jay was headed off to Tourney practice hoping it will help with the rage clawing at his chest trying to get out...
It only helped a little when he tackled Chad down hard. That fact his anger ebbed slightly at hurting someone would have been worrying but it was Chad, so. It didn't matter. All to soon practice was over and he was given a lot of side glances, his team could tell he was more angry than usual and they were bound to be sore from the tackles Jay gave.
His team? Where the hell did that come from. Jay pushed it off and was planning to do some more runs alone when Coach called him over looking vaguely worried. "Walk with me to my office please kid, no you're not in trouble" Coach reassured.
Jay bit his tongue fighting off the anger at his plans being interrupted.
As Coach Jenkins led Jay down the familiar corridors of the Tourney arena towards his office, Jay's muscles tensed with every step. He knew this couldn't be good despite Coach Jenkins words. His mind raced with thoughts while still trying to get rid of the anger and possibility of his eyes glowing.
When they finally reached the coach's office, Jay hesitated before stepping inside. His heart sank like a stone but anger flared as he laid eyes on the unexpected guests seated across from Coach Jenkins. Aladdin and Jasmine, the very symbols of everything Jay despised about Auradon.
Aladdin, with his easy smile and noble demeanor, and Jasmine, with her regal grace and kindness, were the epitome of everything Jay's father had sought to destroy. They were his father's greatest enemies, the ones who had ultimately defeated Jafar and sealed his fate on the Isle where Jay was then born and abused non-stop.
Jay felt the familiar surge of rage bubbling within him, threatening to consume him whole. His fists clenched at his sides, his nails digging into his palms drawing as he struggled to keep his composure. He glared at Coach Jenkins, silently accusing him of betrayal.
But as Jay's gaze darted around the room, scanning for possible escape routes, he noticed something that gave him pause with confusion. The windows were wide open, as were the back door and even the vents. It was as if they had been left purposely, tempting him with the of choice freedom.
A sense of realization washed over Jay, dulling the edge of his anger ever so slightly. They had set this up, he realized. Aladdin and Jasmine, the very people he blamed for his abuse, had orchestrated this meeting, but still gave him a way out.
In that moment, Jay felt his anger fade, not gone just dormant. Perhaps they weren't all like his father. Perhaps there was still some things he didn't have to be angry about.
With a heavy sigh, Jay reluctantly took a seat opposite Aladdin and Jasmine, his anger simmering beneath the surface but no longer threatening to boil over as they began to talk.
"Hey kid how was practice?" Aladdin asked with an easy grin, the knowing look he had in his eyes when Jay sat down confirmed his suspicion that Aladdin was the one who had left the doors and windows open, giving Jay an option.

Grin and Bear It
By taytayloulou @bunny-lou
On Archive of Our Own
Status: Complete; Oneshot; 45,526 words
Summary: The VKs finally meet the heroes of their parents' stories. It all goes to hell.
My thoughts: Very good writing. There's time spent on each VK as they do their best to not make waves and fail miserably. Feel guilty, royalty of Auradon.

Would you be interested in this theory of Jay being Aladdin’s son? I’m writing it now.
👀
Gotta say that’s a semi-new idea for me. I’ve heard Son Of Jasmine floating around but not son of Aladdin from what I can remember. Yes, I would be very interested in seeing that.
#aladdin#jasmine#descendants jay#descendants#disney descendants#theory#that’s just a theory#anon ask#the Jasmine’s Son theory is solely based on the first letter naming convention as far as I can tell#which is stupid#because Jafar also starts with JA#but I mean I ain’t gonna nitpick what’s clearly just a contrivance for the plot#it’s just that I like more detailed explanations and fully fledged theories
