Reasons Why Lungi Is Getting More Popular In The Past Decade.Got into Trend once after Lungi Dance
The past Bollywood comedian Mehmood hitched it up with humour, the attractive Zeenat Aman sexed it up in the film 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna', and also currently a lungi dance in a Shah Rukh Khan starrer has everyone discussing it once more. That's the important things with the lungi-- every decade or so it takes care of to wind its back right into style.

In 1971, not long after Aman covered herself up in a lungi for her hippie twirl in 'Hare Rama Hare Krishna', women throughout the country believed the sensual swirl. "Zeenat Aman provided the lungi a whole hippie ambiance," states Chennai-based developer Rehane. Dr Tusna Park, a Chennai-based physician, says lungis were the blues jeans of the 70s. "I had great deals of them in my wardrobe. So did my schoolmates at medical university. We would certainly use them with official as well as semi-formal tops. They were the style after that," states Dr Park. "But after a couple of years, the fad died out and I reduced them all up to make kurtas since that was the fashion after that." Tamil celebrities have actually constantly put on the lungi with style, kicking up the border in a sinuous activity as well as binding it round their waistlines with panache. As well as now, Chennai Express appears to have helped the two-metre garment obtain a couple of lawns in advance on the fashion map. "When we created the suggestion of local road wear for the motion picture, we really did not think our lungi concept would become this popular," states a spokesperson for Manish Malhotra, the outfit designer for Chennai Express.

Other Indian developers are dealing with it as well. Chennai-based designer Rehane will be converting the lungi textile into trendy western wear for her spring-summer 2014 collection. "We will be publishing on the checked product," she says. The collection will certainly be showcased at the fashion week in Delhi later on this year. "The fabric is cotton and also environment-friendly," she says. Wendell Rodricks also used the lungi in his Ocean Oriente Spring Summer 2013 collection for the Wills Way Of Living Style Week. The lungis, according to the developer, were inspired by the designs of the Goan costume in addition to the skirts of Ceylon.
The lungi isn't just making a statement on the bridge. A few years back, when musician Raghu Dixit needed to select the seek atrioventricular bundle, the Raghu Dixit Job, he was very clear that he intended to sport the lungi. "That's what I put on while growing up in Mysore," states Dixit, who has actually produced his very own brand name of Indian folk music and also made it an international phenomenon. He was certain the lungi would be well gotten and also time has verified him right. "Individuals like it in India as well as particularly abroad, and think it is culturally distinct and also great," says the musician. A couple of weeks earlier, when Madras Christian University celebrated a global get-together, a very first because the college was established 175 years back, a navy blue lungi including MCC-typical caricatures as well as animes was presented to the graduates at the occasion. The animes, drawn by cartoonist as well as graduate Ajit Ninan, included scenes from the university campus. "It was the best gift for the graduates, it provided us our memories of true Chennai design," states MCC alumnus Shailaja Chetlur, that owns Art and Heart Gallery in Chennai.

Conclusion
Lungi events too are currently rather popular in the city. At a pajama event held a time ago, the hosts made a decision the best thing to put on would certainly be lungis, which ended up being a total hit with the guests. "My spouse said it was the comfiest as well as fascinating party-wear he has actually ever used," claims Kamini Raheja, whose husband Rajesh was one of the hosts. And that's potentially the reason the lungi maintains coming full circle.

Remembering Hindustani classical singer Ustad Amir Khan on his 106th birth anniversary. Ustad Amir Khan (August 15, 1912 â February 13, 1974) was a well-known Indian classical vocalist. He is considered one of the most influential figures in Hindustani classical music, and the founder of the Indore Gharana. Amir Khan had a rich baritone voice with a three-octave range, and could move equally effortlessly in any octave. He developed his own gayaki (singing style), influenced by the styles of Abdul Waheed Khan (vilambit tempo), Rajab Ali Khan (taans) and Aman Ali Khan (merukhand). This unique style, known as the Indore Gharana, blends the spiritual flavor and grandeur of dhrupad with the ornate vividness of khyal. Amir Khansahib presented an aesthetically detailed badhat (progression) in ati-vilambit laya (very slow tempo) using bol-alap with merukhandi patterns, followed by gradually speeding up sargams with various ornamentations, taans and bol-taans with complex and unpredictable movements and jumps while preserving the raga structure, and finally a madhyalaya or drut laya (medium or fast tempo) chhota khyal or a ruba'idar tarana. He helped popularize the tarana, as well as khyalnuma compositions in the Dari variant of Persian. While he was famous for his use of merukhand, he did not do a purely merukhandi alap but rather inserted merukhandi passages throughout his performance. Khansahib often used the taals Jhoomra and Ektaal, and generally preferred a simple theka (basic tabla strokes that define the taal) from the tabla accompanist. Even though he had been trained in the sarangi, he generally performed khyals and taranas with only a six-stringed tanpura and tabla for accompaniment. Sometimes he had a subdued harmonium accompaniment, but he almost never used the sarangi. While he could do traditional layakari (rhythmic play), including bol-baant, which he has demonstrated in a few recordings, he generally favored a swara-oriented and alap-dominated style, and his layakari was generally more subtle. His performances had an understated elegance, reverence, restrained passion and an utter lack of showmanship that both moved and awed listeners. According to Kumarprasad Mukhopadhyay's book "The Lost World of Hindustani Music", Bade Ghulam Ali Khan's music was extroverted, exuberant and a crowd-puller, whereas Amir Khan's was an introverted, dignified darbar style. Amir Khansahib believed that poetry was important in khyal compositions, and with his pen name, Sur Rang ("colored in swara"), he has left several compositions. He believed in competition between the genres of classical music and film and other popular music, and he felt that classical renderings needed to be made more beautiful while remaining faithful to the spirit and grammar of the raga. He used to say, "à€šà€à€Œà€źà€Ÿ à€”à€čà„ à€šà€à€Œà€źà€Ÿ à€čà„ à€à„ à€°à„à€č à€žà„à€šà„ à€à€° à€°à„à€č à€žà„à€šà€Ÿà€" (music is that which originates from the heart and touches the soul). Besides singing in concerts, Amir Khan also sang film songs in ragas, in a purely classical style, most notably for the films Baiju Bawra, Shabaab and Jhanak Jhanak Payal Baaje. This attempt to introduce classical music to the masses through films significantly boosted Khansahib's visibility and popularity. He also sang a ghazal Rahiye Ab Aisi Jagah for a documentary on Ghalib. Khansahib's disciples include Amarnath, A. Kanan, Ajit Singh Paintal, Akhtar Sadmani, Amarjeet Kaur, Bhimsen Sharma, Gajendra Bakshi, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Kamal Bose, Kankana Banerjee, Mukund Goswami, Munir Khan, Pradyumna Kumud Mukherjee and Poorabi Mukherjee, Shankar Mazumdar, Singh Brothers, Srikant Bakre and Thomas Ross. His style has also influenced many other singers and instrumentalists, including Baldev Raj Verma, Bhimsen Joshi, Gokulotsavji Maharaj, Mahendra Toke, Piu Sarkhel, Prabha Atre, Rashid Khan, Rasiklal Andharia, Sanhita Nandi, Shanti Sharma, Nikhil Banerjee, the Imdadkhani gharana, and Sultan Khan. Although he referred to his style as the Indore Gharana, he was a firm believer of absorbing elements from various gharanas. Amir Khan was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1967 and the Padma Bhushan in 1971.

Mira Nair, Naseeruddin Shah among 300 signatories extend support to students protesting CAA-NRC: âOur silence ends nowâ - bollywood

More than 300 prominent individuals, including filmmakers Mira Nair, Nandita Das, actors Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak Shah, Jaaved Jafferi, Homi K Bhabha, Partha Chatterjee, Anita Desai, Kiran Desai, TM Krishna, Ashish Nandy, and Gaytri Chakravorty Spivak, among others, have signed an open letter, expressing their solidarity with the students of India who have been protesting Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and against the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Extending their support to the students, the signatories said in their letter, âWe stand in solidarity with the students and others who are protesting and speaking out against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and against the National Register of Citizens (NRC). We salute their collective cry for upholding the principles of the Constitution of India, with its promise of a plural and diverse society. We are aware that we have not always lived up to that promise, and many of us have too often remained silent in the face of injustice. The gravity of this moment demands that each of us stand for our principles.â Also read: Shah Rukh Khan: âI am a Muslim, my wife is a Hindu and my kids are Hindustanâ. Watch video Here is the complete text of the letter: An open statement from members of the Creative and Scholarly Community in IndiaWe are artists, filmmakers, writers and scholars. Our work reflects peopleâs lives, struggles and hopes. We offer our dreams to everyone. But what dream can show us the way in the midst of the present nightmare? Our vision for this nation demands that we speak up now, in the name of our democracy and the constitution that protects it. We stand in solidarity with the students and others who are protesting and speaking out against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and against the National Register of Citizens (NRC). We salute their collective cry for upholding the principles of the Constitution of India, with its promise of a plural and diverse society. We are aware that we have not always lived up to that promise, and many of us have too often remained silent in the face of injustice. The gravity of this moment demands that each of us stand for our principles. The policies and actions of the present government, passed quickly through parliament and without opportunity for public dissent or open discussion, are antithetical to the principle of a secular, inclusive nation. The soul of the nation is threatened. The livelihoods and statehoods of millions of our fellow Indians are at stake. Under the NRC, anyone unable to produce documentation (which, in many cases, does not exist) to prove their ancestry may be rendered stateless. Â Those deemedâillegalâ through the NRC may be eligible for citizenship under the CAA, unless they are Muslim.Contrary to the stated objective of the government, this does not appear to be a benign legislation, only meant to shelter persecuted minorities. The list of exclusions seems to indicate otherwise. Why are minorities from other neighbours like Sri Lanka, China and Myanmar excluded? Isit because the ruling powers in these latter countries are not Muslim? It appears that the legislation believes that only Muslim governments can be perpetrators of religious persecution. Why exclude the most persecuted minorities in the region, the Rohingya of Myanmar or the Uighurs of China? This legislation only acknowledges Muslim perpetrators, never Muslim victims. The aim is transparent: Muslims are the unwelcome Other. This is state-sanctioned religious persecution, and we will not condone it. In Assam and the Northeast, and in Kashmir, the indigenous identity and livelihood is threatened as never before, and we will not condone it. The response of the government and law-enforcement agencies to the distress of its citizens has been callous and high-handed. India has seen the most Internet shutdowns of any democracy in the world. Police brutality has left hundreds injured, including many students from Jamia Milia Islamia University and Aligarh Muslim University. Several citizens have been killed while protesting. Many more have been placed in preventive detention. Section 144 has been imposed in numerous states to curb protests. We need look no further than Kashmir to see how far this government is willing to go to suppress democratic dissent. Kashmir is now living under the longest Internet shutdown ever imposed by a democratic government. Enough is enough. Those of us who have been quiet in the past, our silence ends now. We will be clear-sighted in our dissent. Like our freedom fighters before us, we stand for a secular and inclusive vision of India. We stand with those who bravely oppose anti-Muslim and divisive policies. We stand with those who stand up for democracy. We will be with you on our streets and across all our platforms.
Apple llegĂł a decir:
