I. Even for you
Fandom: Jujutsu Kaisen | Rating: 🔞| Geto Suguru x fem!Reader | Count: 3.5K | Summary: A night after a difficult mission... | On AO3 | Tags & Warnings: my first fic for JJK, fem!reader, Second Person POV, Geto didn't defect AU, But still has it rough, Set four years after Hidden Inventory, Friends with some benefits, It’s complicated, Light angst, Feels, Needy!Geto, Dom energy!Geto, Smut, Vaginal sex, Oral sex (f receiving)
The clock startles you, eyes drawn from your reading towards the brief robotic sound. The numbers flicker red against black, heralding midnight.
With a sigh you close the book and rise, walking to the window instead. The downpour has been ongoing for hours now, and water flows down the glass like tears.
Cold. The city is cold and dark, a flood of souls and living blood. Neon lights flash in jittery repetition like an irregular pulse, reflected by a veiny system of wet roads: red, blue, red, blue.
Worry binds your heart, and thoughts roil like wind. Where is he? You had a day off (a luxury rarely afforded in the world you both share) but your friend’s work is out there in the frontlines. Always gone, always alone lately. Sometimes, you land a mission together where you do your part as an auxiliary manager, but those are few and far between.
You won't call, it’s a given. Any disruptions could lead to injury or worse, and even the thought of him being harmed brings anxiety like a weight forcing your airways shut. He’s your friend, more so the first person who helped guide you when you first reached Tokyo, so patient, laid back and generous with his time. The affinity was instant and mutual, and a couple of years later here you are, sharing a rent. You learned many things about Suguru Geto since then, some wonderful, some worrying—such as his tendency to drive himself into the ground for his vocation. But in the end, he is only human, isn't he?
Your thoughts are cut by the familiar, metallic click and turn of a key. The door to the apartment opens, and the newcomer eases inside.
“Suguru…” you turn, watching his tall figure for anything amiss. His movements are sluggish, his gaze unfocused. It’s been one of those missions, then.
Suguru raises his head at your voice, the blank expression losing to a fickle smile. “Hey.” He’s drenched by the rain: his hair, his uniform, his skin. “How was your day off?” he asks, propping a hand against the wall and kicking off his shoes.
“It was... it was fine.”
It must’ve been a difficult exorcism, you think, as he goes and slumps into a kitchen chair.
You sit across from him, leaning forward with your elbows resting on the table between you. He looks exhausted, his complexion sickly, as though he’s had poison and is living through the worst of it. It’s not the first time you’ve seen it, nor will it be the last.
The rain patters against the windows, filling the silence. Suguru hangs his head, rubs at his right eye, and carelessly undoes the uniform button at his chest before shrugging the entire thing off and hanging it on the back of the chair.
“I suppose I shouldn’t ask…” you try, watching him roll up the sleeves of his shirt. You want to know what kind of special grade he dealt with, but you can't get yourself to do it: it’s on his face, the bags under his eyes, the tension in his body. He looks like he’s about to be nauseous. No, talking about it won't help, not now.
Suguru shakes his head. Silently he reaches for a pack of cigarettes and stands. You follow him out on the small balcony, both leaning against the rail. The rain stopped for a reprieve, and the sounds of wheels turning on wet asphalt reach you from the streets below.
Suguru lights a cigarette, staring ahead. On the first exhale of smoke it looks as though he wants to spit his lungs out. You know how it goes by now: his cursed spirit manipulation technique leaves him with an aftermath few could bear or live with for long, but still, he does it. If there's anything Suguru has, it's strong principles and an immutable conviction as far as his role in this world goes.
His silence, in any other context, would feel comfortable. But now his jaw is tight, and he’s crossed his arms at his chest as if straining to keep all the curses he’s absorbed from breaking free.
All you can do is reach out, fingers smoothing his dark hair away from his face; a stunted motion, but one you couldn’t resist.
Suguru sketches no reaction to your touch at first. He takes another drag of his cigarette and looks over, holding your gaze. Your stomach flips, a meld of relief and care rushing through you and coiling around your ribs like wildflowers. You wonder at this renewed sense of hope as your touch glides down his cheek, wiping away a droplet of gore.
“It feels as if it’s all too much these days…” you murmur, “even for you.”
Suguru smiles again, once a confident grin—now a heartbreaking display when contrasting with his state. Sometimes, in recent months, you’d see an odd light in his stare, like a spark ready to ignite a sea of flames; but it only lingers for a moment before it dies, and he’s back to the one you know.
“It is. But… you’re here.” His eyes close as he leans into your palm, nuzzling against it, the brush of his skin like warm silk.
You swallow. Sometimes he makes these small gestures that hide a greater meaning, it’s who he is. You like to think you’re used to it by now. “Suguru, are you all righ—”
“Help me.” His words are a warm, rushed whisper against your hand. You know what it means, you know it helps him on a physical level to recuperate. You’re friends, both very aware of the other in many ways: qualities, needs, and sometimes, sometimes… you oblige each other.
And you did miss him, the anticipation pooling to your core an irrefutable proof.
Suguru draws back, catlike eyes opening. His lips part as he puts out the unfinished cigarette, a tremble to his fingers. “I need a shower.”
You can’t but smile and chew on your lip as he passes you, his hand grazing the small of your back. “Wait for me?”
“Where would I go?” you tease, your voice only a little choked.
Selfish? Yes, you most certainly are. Suguru is kind, and possibly the most courteous person you’ve met among your peers, and he’d do anything for the people he cares about. When you first spoke of what developed from your friendship, you agreed to keep things open, not least because your occupations didn’t allow for much more.
Distance means safety. Distance means less pressure. But, there’s a flip side to everything and deep inside you wonder—would anyone else, apart from Satoru maybe, be able to remain by his side for as long as you both have?
The answer doesn't matter, does it?
You stare ahead at the city, not slowing for a moment despite the hour. Wetness splashes your face, and faraway thunder signals a renewed pour. Rain falls, slower this time, reluctant little drops that induce a near catatonic state of mind, and you barely feel arms wrapping around your middle from behind.
“Hi again,” you murmur as Suguru buries his face against your neck; the softness of lips on your skin follows.
“Hi,” he says, hugging you tighter and pressing a kiss to your jaw. His hands feel heavy on your body, one sliding down your thigh while the other reaches up to your ribs, ghosting the side of a breast.
You have to admit, whatever lies you tell yourself, your body will always deny it through the swift, unruly reactions to his closeness. You missed him, and now… now you want him in ways that make your head spin. Base. Primal.
The hand on your thigh drifts inward and up, up, up. His chest heaves against your back, and his grip on you is tighter when he reaches the warmth between your legs. “May I?” he asks into your skin.
You nod. You feel his smile against your neck as his hand grips you, massaging the hot center through your nightgown.
You huff a short breath; he sighs. “You’re so… warm…” he squeezes gently, his long hand arched and slowly moving back and forth between your legs. You grasp his other arm, your knees already useless.
The rain is cold, his mouth is warm. His hair is loose and still wet from the shower, dripping down your collarbone as he tilts your chin to the side, and presses his lips to yours.
Suguru tastes good. He’s always tasted better than anyone you recall, deepening the kiss faster than you can react, the hand between your legs drawing your hips against his.
“… you're so…” his fingers never stopped teasing your slit through your clothes, and he’s hardening against your ass as he speaks, “...delicious,” he says, sucking harshly on your lower lip before melding his mouth to yours.
You can barely get an intake of breath, and as good as this feels, you're both getting pelted by the rain now.
Not that he cares: one hand holding you by the jaw and the other weakening you, he feels overwhelming, so much so that it hurts a little as you break the kiss. “Suguru, the rain…”
“Yes, you’re right,” he mumbles, still nipping and licking at your lips, “Of course, of course, you’re right…” and with that he all but drags you after him as you are, never releasing you.
You reach the one room with a double bed—usually yours to sleep in—where he throws you down, following and dragging you under him, pausing for a moment to stare at you. He’s wearing nothing but loose dark pants, and your eyes are drawn to the ragged cross of scars lining his chest. Unable to resist, you trace one with your finger, then rise and kiss along it as he holds the back of your head.
“You… I’m so… glad you’re here, I’m…” he doesn't continue, instead pushing you down by the shoulders and hastily sliding your nightgown up your thighs with both hands. There’s an urgency to each movement, to each kiss down your sensitive inner thigh, his head dipping lower and lower, his breath hot and eyes half-lidded as he looks up at you briefly while gently pulling aside your panties.
Your lower body shivers with need, the sight alone throwing you in a daze—he’s good at this, you know he is, and he—
All following thoughts disperse and your mind empties when he runs his tongue along your slit in a slow, hot, languid stripe.
“Oh god…” he says against your cunt, his hands on your inner thighs keeping them spread as he licks you again.
You clutch at the sheet, your fingers finding purchase in his hair when he sucks on your clit with the softest insistence. His eyes are closed, a furrow to his brow that you’d mistake for concentration if it weren't for the needy sounds slipping from his lips as he takes you slowly, again and again, like he’d been thirsty for this all his days.
You're at a breaking point, thighs trembling beneath the pressure of his soothing hands, your mouth watering in pleasure at the sight and sensation of his pink tongue circling your clit, and all you can articulate is his name.
“Mm?” He doesn't even look up, still eating you out with maddening compulsion, sucking on your pussy lips before licking between them, up your clit and down to your hole, slipping his hardened tongue inside and urging your hips to move against his mouth.
“I-I’m going to…” A stutter of muscles, then another, and he won't stop but keeps eating you out like he's in his own dream, urging you on with his eyes closed.
“Please, come on… for me, will you…? You taste so good, so-so-good, did I ever tell you that? If not I’m… an idiot-your scent-your—...”
You can't hear the rest over the waves of a sudden high, nerves suffused with pleasure and the deepest relief you’ve ever felt. He breathes against your quivering cunt as your fingers lazily card through his hair. When he looks up at you again, his eyes are feverish, his lips aglow with your shine. He crawls up to you like a stalking feline pulling down his pants and reaching for a bedside drawer at the same time. “Where… did you have those…”
“It’s fine,” you urge him back down. “On the pill for a while now.”
He watches you for a moment, then leans in for a slow, open-mouthed kiss. His erection is pressed against your pussy, his forearms on either side of your head, his hands caressing your temples.
He’s heavy against you but it’s that pleasant heaviness that goes with a craving to be consumed and just as you think this Suguru severs the kiss, rising to his knees. “Off. Take it off,” he says, his voice low and breathy as he slides his pants down his hips.
You don't even get to comply before he’s yanking your garments off himself, unveiling your body with jerked, impatient movements. “Much better…” he says, and for a moment you see it—that light in his eyes, the spark that both scares and thrills. But you’re easily distracted by the sight and sound of him pumping his cock as he stares at you so hungrily, as he drags you by the hip towards him and grabs you by one ankle, resting your leg over his shoulder.
It strikes you how attractive the sight of him is, and you make sure to capture the memory: the slight crease between his eyebrows and the deepened flush across his cheekbones, his disheveled inky hair, the parted lips as he rubs the wet tip of his thick erection against your slit. The way the muscles in his abdomen tense and soft, barely audible moans leave him with each stroke. “Ready?” he asks but doesn't wait for an answer and you grit your teeth, watching the head of his cock disappear inside your body. “Good girl… just a little more, you can take me…”
“Suguru wait, it’s—” you cry out at the sudden thrust, your back arching off the bed.
He clamps a hand over your mouth, pressing down with his weight as you cry out against his palm. “… all in, it’s fine. I told you, like last time…”
But last time it wasn't quite like this. Last time was a slow, tender affair full of exploration. This feels like an impending storm and he feels different too, but, at the same time, you find that you enjoy it. You wonder if it shows on your face despite your words.
He sank inside you to the hilt but now doesn't move, locking eyes with you. He’s biting down on his lip and his cock twitches inside your cunt, once, twice, a delicious feeling that makes you involuntarily tilt your hips upward. He’s aware enough to see it in your eyes, in the way your tongue peeks out to lick at the inside of his palm.
Suguru smiles—there it is, that fox-like grin, a little tired but reminiscent of better, brighter days. Affection melts into the urgent need for him as he removes his hand from your mouth and slinks out of you slowly, torturously slow, until the thick head barely grazes your soaked pussy.
Your vision sways when the sudden thrust slams right back into you. “God...”
“I know…” he gasps, his fingers digging into your hip bone, his other hand grasping the leg still propped against his shoulder.
Another thrust leaves you dizzy, the angling of his hips changing as he leans forward, pressing more of his body weight onto you, and then—
He knows rhythm, he’s always had an innate understanding and empathy toward others, down to every level of their being. And now that sense of his must be at work because his pace is a lascivious crescendo, the long drags of his cock inside you harder and faster and just how you like them, his chest rising and falling shaken by his labored breathing. His eyes catch your stare, clouded with pleasure from the incessant, decadent ebb and flow.
He fucks into you faster, until his skin is sleek with sheen and you're moaning helplessly from this sweet, merciless intrusion. In truth, you never have time, never enough energy to invest in someone else. It just comes with the territory, with the way of life most people would never understand. “Suguru,” you coo, and at the silent question in his eyes you add: “Harder…”
A huff of laughter escapes him and he wastes no time pulling out—you feel the loss immediately, a whimper your protest, but it’s short-lived as he turns you over. “On your knees.”
You comply, rising to all fours in a breath. A slap to your ass nearly has you tumbling forward on the bed but the firm grasp on your hips won't allow it. He pulls you right back onto his cock, moaning softly as you involuntarily clench and squeeze, telling you how tight you are, how fine and slick you feel, all the while placing warm, shallow kisses along your spine.
And then the world tilts sideways. You can hear nothing but the slap of his hips, feel nothing but the building rush inside as he pumps into you with vicious strength, pushing into you at a pace that has you quivering and crying out.
“Harder? Is that what you said?...” he asks, but there’s no trace of teasing or humor in his tone as he fucks you deeper, and the more you struggle the more bruising his hold on you becomes.
You barely avoid biting on your tongue as your body shakes from his pitiless moves until you can’t take it anymore: your arms give way, and you fall over.
“S-Suguru...”
He keeps going, ramming you into the bed, sucking on your ear as you lie there and take it and take it and take it. For how long?
“SUGURU—”
All you feel is the cleaving pleasure of an exquisite orgasm, a coil unwinding where your bodies are joined to spread like heavenly vines through your body.
He flips you over at the same time, entering you and going completely still; his arms wind around you in a hot embrace. “I love… I love it when you do that…” he whispers against your neck, enjoying the uncontrollable spasming of your cunt around him.
As you come down he picks up the pace again; your legs cross around his torso, your heels touching the small of his back.
“That’s right…” you sigh as he groans into your neck, “Use me… use me…”
“What?... Say that again... please.” His voice is pleading now, in direct opposition to the ruthless treatment from moments before.
“I want you… to use me, Suguru,” you repeat, and oh how you mean it. He feels even deeper now, raising his head, your lips barely touching as he moves. “Use me! Use me-use me-god-fuck…” because he’s doing just that, moaning against your mouth as your hands come fisted in his hair and you pull. His movement is erratic, rhythm and all failing before successive, incessant, desperate pounding, so deep it hurts and—
His hips stutter once, twice, and he clutches at you fiercely when warmth floods your cunt, hot cum spurting as he keeps you trapped beneath him until you’re full of it.
You lie there, chest to chest, breathing each other’s air. Your fingers ease the grip on his hair. When he tries to move, your hands press down onto the hard muscle of his ass. “Stay inside me for a while longer?...”
His amber eyes soften; you can feel his heart beating against your chest as though it wants to burst free of its own cage. Suguru doesn’t answer but tilts you both to the side, an arm wound around your middle, the other on the thigh draped over his hip, keeping you entangled.
You’re spent, all the life force drained from your body, while he looks as though he’s run a marathon without pause: face flushed, muscles gleaming, tense and warm against your softness. His honeyed irises are brighter.
“Did it help?...” you ask, tucking yourself against his chest. The distant roll of thunder returns outside.
“Help?… Oh, yes, absolutely yes, of course. But…” he pauses, like the times he does when mulling over the right words. A trace returns of the Suguru you know most of the time: the gentle, responsible one. He’s usually so selfless and kind, that one would be hard-pressed to believe he’s caused the bruises currently forming on your hips.
“But?” you ask, barely able to stay awake now; he’s so, so warm, and so close, and your mind can barely process coherent thoughts.
“I…”
You never hear the rest, drifting away, light and content as a leaf wayworn by the wind. Tomorrow… all else can wait until tomorrow.

⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆
It was too early for fall, and most definitely too early for it to be this cold yet the crisp air burned in your airways as if it’s trying to take you right then and there while you wait for Jungwon in your car. He always told you it was nothing more—they grew up together. Same neighborhood, same school, same university—same everything. Certainly, Ae-cha knew Jungwon more than you did and Jungwon would apologize, but he would agree. They are best friends; been there for each other through thick and thin—long before he met you to begin with.
You know Jungwon will never admit it. Maybe he did love you to some degree because he would rather lie to keep you from hurting than to tell you the truth that he can never love you to the same level as he did for Ae-cha. But here you are anyway, in the parking lot of their University Auditorium waiting for Ae-cha’s pageant to end so Jungwon could come home with you as he promised. Pathetic, to be honest but what could you do? They’re best friends, it shouldn’t be something you should worry about.
It’s not like Ae-cha was a bad person. It would be easier if she was but she wasn’t. Matter of fact, she might be the nicest girl you’ve ever met. She’s well-traveled, well-read, good with kids, loves animals—smart, beautiful—been crowned on every pageant she’s entered, always won prom queen—God. It would be so much easier to hate them both if Ae-cha was a terrible person. But she isn’t. And Jungwon has every reason to look at her and fall in love even by accident. You cannot blame him. You could see why.
“Hi baby,” Jungwon leans on your half open window, hand reaching inside to pinch your cheek like he always does to get your attention. He figured you’ve been so lost in your own thoughts recently that he had to physically distract you nowadays. “Ae-cha just won, she wants you to be in the celebration! She just sent me to ask if that’s okay with you?”
You couldn’t get yourself to look at him. Ae-cha. Again. Dear Lovely Darling Ae-cha, can never have the heart do wrong. You just nodded. It would be unfair to treat her badly when all she’s done was to always make sure you were included despite her and Jungwon being attached to the hip.
“Perfect! I'll go tell her then! Then I'll be back, okay?” He jumped before sprinting back to the auditorium. He's never been like that in any of your competitions. You've been competing in figure skating since you were five.
Some days you wonder how you and Jungwon worked in the first place. Sure you met in the same art history elective class that he was forced to go to because Ae-cha was taking it, but other than that—other than the fact that he thought you were smart and him saying that your brain was beautiful which undoubtedly wooed you over from the start—you guys lived very different lives. Him being in Computer Science and you being in Psychology—you rarely had similar things to talk about about school.
“I’m so glad you could make it!” Ae-cha grins, walking over to greet you as soon as you and Jungwon enter the restaurant that they managed to book entirely for the immediate celebration. She was a beauty, her face was flawless in the pageant makeup that was done on her and the way the tall crown sits atop of her head really just adds to her godly aura.
“Wouldn’t miss it for the world,” you smile at her politely, giving her a light squeeze when she goes in for a hug. “Congratulations on your win!”
You were happy for Ae-cha. You didn’t have it in you to have ill-feelings for someone’s hard-earned win. You knew what it felt like to work so hard for something, you can’t say you weren’t happy that she won—Jungwon has been tirelessly ranting about her not being able to hang out with you guys as much as before because she has been training non-stop the past months. You knew she worked hard and there couldn’t have been any reason for you to not wish her well.
What you weren’t happy for though, was the way her family looked at you. Sure Ae-cha was an angel—but it didn’t mean that the rest of her family was. It has been made clear from the get go when you were first invited by Ae-cha to her home to celebrate something that her family did not like you. It didn’t matter if Ae-cha considered you as one of her closest friends—or if she saw you as a sister no less—you were Jungwon’s girlfriend and clearly that was a threat to their plans of seeing Ae-cha live their friends-to-lovers trope fantasy with Jungwon. They might have talked to you behind their backs to break up with Jungwon before but you never found it in you to tell Jungwon that it happened. You knew Jungwon, that ensured a confrontation if he found out and the last thing you wanted to happen was to lodge something nasty between his friendship with Ae-cha.
“Come take a seat next to Jungwon!” She happily chimes as she guides you to an empty seat right next to, what you suppose to be Jungwon’s seat next to her.
While you engaged in conversation with her whenever she initiated it, you could not help but seem lethargic the entire dinner. You just wanted to go home and rest. After all, you had a tiresome training session with your coach all afternoon after your morning classes. If Jungwon hadn’t asked you to come pick him up after Ae-cha’s pageant you would have driven home and gone straight into hibernation. You were tired and your head was starting to hurt from your hair being pulled back by the tight bun that your coach required you to have during your training sessions. It didn’t help that Ae-cha’s mother was draining all your social battery whenever she would ask something out-of-pocket that was passive-aggressive towards you.
You were itching to go home to say the least. So, when you saw that the clock finally ticked 9, you tugged on to the sleeve of Jungwon’s sweater to go and ask him if you could go home. He seemed understanding of your situation so he politely excuses the both of you out of the dinner.
“Next time, don’t think about going to a family dinner that you are uninvited to, okay?” You were taken aback by Ae-cha’s mother’s words. So much that you stood there frozen, unknowing of what to reply.
“Eomma!” Ae-cha argues. “I already told you multiple times that me and Y/N are friends and I invited her!”
That was your last straw. Jungwon just stood there, just as shocked—which hurt you even more. How is it that his best friend was able to stand up for you quicker than he could? He always said something whenever he heard something nasty being said about Ae-cha around the university—why couldn’t he have been that fast for when you needed it?
You glanced at Ae-cha before tears could start falling uncontrollably and gave her a nod before storming out. You were embarrassed—most of all, felt pathetic that Jungwon couldn’t even say something. He just stood there!
You were sobbing in your car, trying to control your breathing when the door opened to reveal Jungwon entering your passenger seat.
“I- um… I’m sorry for how that went…”
“Do you sometimes think about whether they're right?” you blurted out, sobs escaping every other word that left your mouth.
“About what baby?”
“That you and Ae-cha are perfect together?”
Jungwon stood still, just staring at you. At that very moment you already knew the answer to your own question. He looked at you with eyes of guilt. You wanted to vomit, your stomach felt like it was churning, bile rose to your throat as you felt the entire world drop on to you.
You don’t understand why you were still so shocked—you saw all the signs. You were not stupid! You knew human behavior inside and out, it would be a shame not to and all the signs lead to where you are right now. So why does it still hurt? Why does it still make your heart squeeze too harshly?
“I’m sorry, Y/N.”
Y/N.
Not baby anymore.
“Why?”
To be honest, it would be easier for the both of you if you just didn’t ask because even Jungwon didn’t know when it started. One day he woke up feeling more for Ae-cha and suddenly felt less for you. It hurt him too to realize that. You’ve always been so kind. You were the moon, so serene and calm and beautiful in the darkest of his days, but he needed the sun more. And Ae-cha was just that. He didn't intend for you to hurt or to feel any less but it's his fault. He knew that for not figuring it out earlier and for dragging you into this firepit with him. The most he could do is shake his head, disappointed in himself for being clueless on what to do—for how things turned out today.
“I'll pack your things in my apartment. I think it'd be best if you stay with Ae-cha tonight,” you tell him. This is what you guys did whenever you fought, you would ask if he could stay with Ae-cha for the night and talk about it in the morning. Only this time, nothing is going to be talked about in the morning. He's made his feelings clear and it definitely wasn't for you anymore.
“Y/N, please don't do this.”
“I'd rather leave it here than cause more pain to the both of us, Jungwon,” you replied, trying to stop yourself from blowing this out of proportion. “I don't want to loathe the memory of us because we blew this out of proportion trying to fix this.”
“I don’t what you to throw this away, Y/N—”
“Throw away what, Jungwon? You’re in love with Ae-cha. How am I going to throw something that isn’t there anymore?” The eeriness in your voice sent chills down Jungwon’s spine, he just sat there, looking at you, like he has been in the past two occasions. “I’m not throwing anything away, Jungwon.”
“Why don’t you sound angry?” It offended you that he sounded appalled that you weren’t furiously reacting to this. Truth is, while it still stung and while it hurts like hell to be in this position, you’ve grieved on this long before.
“Do you want me to be?”
No. He does not want you to be angry at him. He adores you. He doesn’t want you to loathe him for the rest of your life for doing this to you but at the same time, how? Why are you letting him go so easily?
“I should get going,” you sniffled, running a hand on your face to wipe the tear stains on your face. “Tell Ae-cha I’m sorry for storming off and congratulations for her win. She deserves it more than anyone else.”
He sat in silence before mumbling another quiet apology and then stepping out of your car.
You packed everything of Jungwon’s that you could find as soon as you got to your apartment. He didn’t live there but he stayed over often and left his clothes for you to enjoy for when he can’t stay over. His gaming console, his books, his old headset that you managed to replace with a new one when you guys celebrated your 2nd anniversary, his clothes—everything, and probably most of her entire life were packed away in boxes overnight. But with all those gone, the place still smelled like him so you spend the next four hours manically scrubbing your floors and spraying aerosol home fragrances on every room, desperately trying to get rid of anything that reminded you of him. But the bitterness of losing Jungwon still lingered.
You wish you didn’t let yourself sit in denial and faced it head on the moment you saw the signs. But then again, Jungwon and Ae-cha were best friends. If you were wrong, it would be unfair for both of them. It was unfair for the both of them to accuse them of something that didn’t reflect reality at all—until it did reflect reality and now it’s unfair to you.
The morning came around and you were still sitting in your apartment’s window nook, with no more tears left to cry, trying to get yourself to move until your doorbell rang.
Assuming it was Jungwon, you dreaded walking towards the door, but the sooner his boxes are out, the sooner you will be able to slowly accept that it’s okay that you didn’t turn out to be Ae-cha or at least the person that Jungwon ended up choosing.
You peaked through the peephole, but instead of seeing your boyfriend—well, ex-boyfriend standing there in front of your door to get his belongings, you see your skating partner’s tall figure standing there looking bored as he usually does. Matter of fact, right now he looked absolutely uninterested, as if he did not want to be there in the first place.
“God, you look…” Sunghoon trailed, holding himself back from saying another one of your usual playful insults when he saw how red your eyes were. “...tired. You look tired.”
“Maybe because I am tired?” You deadpanned, stepping aside to let Sunghoon inside your apartment. “What in the sweet baby cheeses brought your ass here?”
“Well, aside from the fact that it’s competition season, you did not bother to show up to your 7AM training. It’s 9:30 already, Y/N, why the fuck are you not scurrying to get in your training clothes?”
“Guess,” she rolled her eyes before throwing herself back into her window nook.
Sunghoon was visibly annoyed at how you were acting. Figure skating was your life! Sunghoon competed with and against you since you guys were kids, what the hell could possibly tipped you over the edge last night to suddenly lose yourself like this! Oh! And to add on top of that, her home smelled like strong lavender, as if a whole can of lavender air freshener was sprayed on her living room, Sunghoon was itching to sneeze and choking on the strong scented air at the same time. Have you gone insane— “Oh shit.”
It hits him.
The boxes by the foyer, the clean tv rack, your home was spotless for the first time since you began seeing Jungwon 2 years ago. It’s not that your home was untidy, to be honest, Sunghoon found your apartment to be cozy. Bits and pieces of who you and Jungwon were littered around the house, may it be Jungwon’s pokemon figurines lying on the tv rack or your huge heavy Psychology books sitting wherever you left it. Your apartment looks empty now. And by the looks of it, Sunghoon already knew who left.
“Yeah, oh shit,” you sarcastically rolled your eyes before walking to your kitchen. “Do you want anything?”
“Yes, I want something,” Sunghoon leapt to his feet and went to the kitchen, opening her fridge door to grab himself one of your bottled coffees.
“That’s all?”
“And you get your ass to your room and get ready for training. I am not losing my shot at the Olympics this season, Y/N. So get your shit together, please.”
“I can’t go—”
“You can go. What you can’t do is mope around here and wait for your little boyfriend to wrap you around his finger,” he blurted out. “If he’s gonna fall in love with his best friend and leave you like this, so be it. But I will not let you miss a day of practice for your dream just because some boy broke your heart.”
You wanted to argue. but Sunghoon, despite being an arrogant son of a bitch, was right this time. Okay, maybe there’s some personal agenda to his actions but he’s done this for you multiple times, pushing you forward when you could not get yourself to do so.
“Go on,” he tried pushing you towards your bedroom door, but you were insistent.
“I haven’t slept a wink all night, Park Sunghoon—just tell coach I’m sick today, I’ve be there on the dot tomorrow, I promise–”
“Sleep when you’re dead!”
⋆˖⁺‧₊☽◯☾₊‧⁺˖⋆
Days passed after that morning and Jungwon still hasn’t picked up his things. You couldn’t bother to text him, still too hurt to do so, still afraid of seeing him finally being at true peace with Ae-cha. It was something you can never give him.
But just when you thought you made peace with it, the door opens while you are lying on the floor, post-training. Sunghoon has been visiting more often, usually to just steal coffee from your fridge but he did not know your password—only one person did. You shot up the moment you realized who the person and there he was.
He looked so much healthier now. He seemed like he was finally getting some sleep.
“Oh!” He looked surprised to see you there, still in your insulated clothes, hair disheveled from all the spinning you had to do all day and from all the falls from the new tricks that you and Sunghoon were learning. “I thought you'd still be in the rink.”
“Did you not want to see me?” you wanted to slap yourself for not rethinking it before it escaped her mouth. What happens then if he does not want to see you? How is that going to be for you? You were doing so good! You were okay!
“It's… It's not that,” he quickly defends himself. “I've been thinking and after all that, I didn't think I still have a face to show you.”
“How have you been?”
You knew you had to stop. It would be easier if you just closed your mouth and let him take away the boxes that collected dust from sitting in your foyer for a month already. You should just stop and everything will go how you wanted it to be.
“The mornings have been good,” he replied shyly. “I'm really sorry again, Y/N.”
“Was she pleasant in the mornings?”
For the love of god, stop. Please.
Jungwon nodded, guilt forming in his face once again. Which again, you felt like you were being stabbed all over again because you will never be that. Your mornings were always hectic from either college classes or training. Whenever he came over, he usually woke up to an empty bedside.
Maybe she wasn't like that.
Maybe life is finally slow for Jungwon just like he hoped.
And you could never give him that.
“I know you don’t want me to apologize more,” Jungwon sighed.
“Good, then don’t.”
“Y/N…”
“I just want to make my peace with this, Jungwon. I would appreciate it if you just leave—”
“Why wouldn’t you just sit down and talk about this with me?” Jungwon sounded frustrated when he asked that. He could not understand why you were just letting him go. Were your 2 years together mean nothing to you? Why are you letting him get his way? He knows any person would be happy that their ex-girlfriend is acting this way but holy shit, he was not like them. While he loved Ae-cha, he would be eaten alive by the guilt that he broke someone else’s heart in the process of realizing that.
“Because I don’t need you to explain why you fell in love with Ae-cha while you were with me!” You finally raised your voice, staring straight into his eyes. “I am not stupid. Everyone saw it before the both of you did! I feel like I’ve been lodged in between you two’s godforsaken slow burn love story and I feel pathetic. I don’t need you to explain that to me, Jungwon. Ae-cha is beautiful and smart and wonderful in almost every way and I don’t fault you for wanting that because that would be amazing to have!”
“God, you look so relaxed whenever you look at her, Jungwon. You look at her like she made the sun and the stars in the sky—and I get why you never look at me that way. I am nothing like Ae-cha. You are never going to treat me like Ae-cha. You are never going to cheer for me as loud as you do whenever Ae-cha competes. You are never going to show that much enthusiasm for my competitions. I’ve accepted that you weren’t just interested in the things that I did and that’s fine. I tried so fucking hard to be someone that you wouldn’t want to leave but here we are, Jungwon.”
Jungwon stood there, heart shattering while he listened to his ex-girlfriend’s outbursts. He has been a terrible boyfriend. The worst one to ever make her experience such a thing.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you felt that way, Y/N?”
“And if I did tell you what happens then? You’d split your usual time with Ae-cha to be with me? You’d talk back to her parents to defend me? You would fall out of love with the obvious love of your life? We both know that you could not do that Jungwon and I did not want to put you in a position that would hurt us both more than it should because I can’t compete with Ae-cha. I don’t stand a chance to ever be against the woman that she is and how significant she is to your life, so I’m stepping back. It’s easier that way.”
“I’m sorry—”
“You would be forgiven the moment you walk out of my apartment with all of your things and never show your face to me again, Jungwon.”
You were cold. Jungwon could recognize you by your ability to still forgive him—the pain changed you a little too much. But he made his bed, he should sleep in it even if it wasn’t in your apartment anymore.
But to answer your question, whether he liked her in the morning—he did. Even in the nighttimes, when he would crash after an argument and her soft hand would hold his while she explains to him what he’s done wrong. He liked waking up next to her in the morning, something he did not experience often with you because you were always up early for your training and he was up late because he pulled an all-nighter coding his projects. He liked having someone to hold whenever it got hard for him—and you couldn’t be that person, Ae-cha did that for him. Maybe in the process of all of that he realized that Ae-cha always had a place in his heart that he failed to notice even in the lonely nights that she would endure with him. Most of all, he could not fault you too for those lonely nights. You were lonely too and now he’s seeing that he has been the one causing those lonely nights for him.
So, yes.
He did like her in the morning.
Recently, it has been the first thing that he thinks about and after months of trying to repress it,
It has finally caught up to him.

So, I blame @dipperscavern for this. I was minding my own business and found the post about a firefighter au. I, as a paramedic and firefighter in RL, had to fulfill the now moral obligation to write this. AKA I wanted to picture Cregan Stark in a FD uniform and Bunker gear.
This is only a TEASER for a fic I'm calling Sirens and Hearts of Fire for right now. It will be a first responder Cregan Stark x first responder reader. I have a lot more to add until I'm done and, honestly? I'm already coming up with so many head cannons for this au!
Side note: if anyone has questions about what something means, please go ahead and message me. I will happily answer it. 😊
Please enjoy.
“Medic Short Shit! Please report for duty!” was shouted by a deep, northern accent across the fire bay.
“Shut the fuck up, Lieutenant Stark! Not everyone can be as tall as a fucking tree!” She shouted back from the back of the squad. She heard laughter ring out from the guys in the day room and had to roll her eyes.
She knew she was late to the morning meeting but the check off was almost done. When joining the Winterfell Fire Department two years ago after job opportunities dried up in the Stormlands she hadn’t quite pictured being this comfortable. Most of the major FDs were fully staffed and openings were fought over by a few dozen applicants. It was better just to relocate since she didn’t have any roots set down in Storm’s End. It was interesting to say the least. Most of the people she worked with were legacy fire with founding members in their family lines. The Starks, Velaryons and Targaryens being the most noted with five generations of firefighting.
She quickly checked the last cabinet and marked off in the book that it had everything it needed before putting away the binder by the airway seat. She huffed as she got out of the squad and hurried over to the meeting. Cregan and Jace were waiting at the door to the crew area of the station with a half grin on the latter’s face.
“Finally decided to join us, L.T. Spitfire?” Jace said, using the nickname the department had given her. He was clearly enjoying irritating her this early in the morning before coffee.
“Maybe if someone whose name starts with a J and ends with an Ace didn’t steal Luke away when he was supposed to be checking off the back up squad, truck check wouldn’t have taken so long. Besides, we both know Baela had a rough night on the Medic and there was a lot to restock.” She huffed as she moved passed them. She heard Cregan chuckle as she did, ignoring the shiver that wanted to go through her body at the sound. Cregan Stark was what every woman dreamed of when they thought about Firefighters. Strong, handsome, looked wonderful in and out of bunker gear. And he was entirely off limits in her opinion. Especially after she was told his longtime girlfriend, Arra, died in a car accident.
From what Baela had said they were going through EMT-basic class together when it happened. Cregan responded to the scene with the others on the engine and had been nearly inconsolable with she had been a DOA. He took close to a year off from the job as he tried to piece himself back together. His father and other department members finally managed to get him to come back not long before she joined. Needless to say, the crush which she developed on him went unspoken after she heard that, despite Baela swearing up and down it might be time to say something.
She waved to Chief Stark as she entered the kitchen and went to the coffee maker, pouring some into her favorite mug while ignoring the chuckles of the other crew members around the room.
“Squads up to par, Lieutenant?” Rickon asked, unbothered by her lateness to the group. She gave a thumbs up as she took her first drink of caffeine, the dark liquid already helping her perk up. She sat down next to Luke and Ben, the former giving her an apologetic look with a sheepish smile for leaving her by herself this morning. Ben was practically glued to his own mug as he looked over cardiac rhythms on his phone, trying to memorize them. Both had their books on the table for paramedic class. It was clearly leaving the two younger men haggard, and it was only going to get worse.
Chief clearing his throat tore her attention away from the guys and the chatter through the room quieted as everyone listened to assignments for the shift.
“Alright, now that everyone’s here let’s get started. Seat assignments are up on the board along with upcoming trainings. We need to wash the trucks today and keep an eye on them throughout the next few months before it gets too cold. Make sure they look good while we can.” Chief said. As he went through the morning debrief, he paused for a moment as he looked over some paperwork next to him.
“Pyke FD has also reached about having us join them for an open water rescue training in the coming months. Speak to Manderly if you’ve got questions or want to volunteer. We’d like to see a good level of participation as this is a good opportunity for the department.” At the chief’s words she blanched, she could almost hear the underline expectations for them to sign up for it. She remembered the last time they had to deal with Pyke and their members, one in particular coming to mind.
“I swear, if fucking Greyjoy starts his shit again…” she muttered under her breath, earning a few chuckles from around the room. She heard a displeased grunt from somewhere behind her but choose to ignore it. Chief shot her a look before shaking his head, continuing over some vehicle maintenance before finally dismissing the meeting and retreating to his office.
She sighed as drank her coffee, scrolling on her phone and barely paying attention to the different conversations that now filled the space as the crew started making breakfast. Mormont manning the stove while the others set out plates and silverware. She was finally brought out of it when Ben tapped her shoulder, a confused look on his face as he held out his phone.
“This is a second-degree heart block Mobitz type II, right?” He asked, the poor guy looked ready to pull his hair out at this point. She took pity on him, taking the phone and watching the rhythm before she answered.
“Yeah, you’re right. I think you’re finally getting the hang of cardiology, Ben.” The shy firefighter almost looked ready to let out a whoop, clearly happy he was getting over his biggest hurdle in class. Luke joined in the conversation, asking questions along with Ben about the hiccups he was having and asking about IV medications. After a while they were interrupted by Cregan and Jace sitting across from the trio, both setting down plates of food for everyone. Before long the rest of the crew had sat down to eat. Most of the conversation revolved around sports, new tools, and plans for the summer while they had good weather. She didn’t pay much attention to it while she ate, still annoyed at the idea of dealing with Dalton. She didn’t notice anyone trying to speak to her until a hand was smacked down on the table across from her.
“Earth to Spitfire, come in Spitfire,” Jace said dramatically while he leaned back.
“What, your highness?” she huffed when she came back to the conversation around her. She couldn’t help but notice that Cregan seemed on edge with whatever Jace had been talking about, his brows knitted together as he looked back and forth between them.
“So how are going to deal with Greyjoy this time around? I doubt he’s going to just give up after you told him off last time,” Jace pointed out before taking a bite of bacon. It was at this point Cregan set down his coffee mug, giving the brunet an exasperated look before he spoke.
“Chief said it’s voluntary, she doesn’t have to go if she doesn’t want to.” He said firmly, clearly as annoyed about the idea of seeing the Ironborn again as much as she was.
“Oh come on, Lt, you know when your dad says something about participation it always means he wants as many people to go as possible. I’ve already checked and it’s not our unit day so he will want to see us there,” Luke added in before he finished off his breakfast. He got up to take his and Ben’s dishes to the sink.
“I second that. You know he’s going to want to have as many of us there as possible. Plus, I don’t like the idea of not being there if something happens one of you guys. You know the Iron Isles are short on medics right now. Not ideal,” she reasoned. As much as she disliked the idea, she wasn’t going to possibly leave her guys without proper care.
“Be that as it may, I don’t think he’s going to blame you if you opt out of this one. He wasn’t exactly happy with how Dalton acted either after I told him. As an officer at Pyke, that was completely unprofessional of him.” Cregan’s argument made her stop mid-bite. She put her fork down as she tried to keep her sudden irritation down.
“What the hell do you mean you told chief?” she said as she narrowed for eyes at him.
“Easy Spitfire, it’s not what you think. It needed to be reported since it was at a training. Chief Blacktyde was grateful that we informed him of the misconduct of one of his officers and said he would handle it.” Cregan tried to calm her down before she went off on him, his hands raised slightly and an amused smirk tugging at his lips. She tried not to huff as she picked up her fork again and shoved some eggs in her mouth. She eyed him as she chewed before she swallowed her food down.
“While you have a point, it still would have been nice to know you told your dad about it,” she said begrudgingly, still annoyed but seeing his point. “Although, that means there should be no issue with me going to the training then, should there?” It was now Cregan’s turn to look irritated as she countered him. She hid her grin by taking another drink of her coffee when all he did was grunt in response. She noticed Jace giving Cregan a look that the lieutenant deliberately ignored while he continued eating. She didn’t think much of it at the time.
She finished off her coffee and breakfast before getting up to hand off the dishes to Locke at the sink. She nodded to the squad crew members that had finished their food as well, getting them up to get the trucks washed for the day.
As she went out into the bay and started heading towards the premiere squad, Luke and Darry went to fill the buckets. Ben grabbed the brushes as she pulled the truck out. Luke started to hose down the squad, wetting down the bright blue apparatus before two of them started scrubbing. Ben went to pull out the back up to be cleaned as well, the older truck a slightly darker shade of blue with an older department logo on the side. She still wasn’t quite used to the different colors they used in the North compared to the Stormlands, the southern region using different shades of yellow for their emergency vehicles. At least it wasn’t the green that the Reach had. She still couldn’t believe the lime green the Oldtown FD used for theirs.
The engine and rescue crews came out not too long after them, pulling out and getting started on their respective trucks. Soon the smell of car soap filled the air as the occasional shout was heard when someone accidently got sprayed with hose. She was silently cursing as she tried to scrub the bugs off of the top front of the squad. The splatter almost seeming baked on as her arms started to ache from the angle she had to hold the brush. She heard the sound of boots coming up behind but didn’t pay it any mind until she was suddenly lifted up onto someone’s shoulder.
“Cregan! Put me down!” She said as she tried to avoid hitting him with the handle of the brush for flailing. She found herself gripping his other shoulder with one hand as her torso was half leaned over his head to keep her balance. Once she was steady, she looked down at him like he was crazy.
“You looked like you needed some added height, Medic Short Shit,” he said with a chuckle, clearly unaffected by her weight.
“Don’t you have your own truck to wash?!” she said, trying to sound irate but didn’t quite succeed as a mix of panic and a touch of something else pitted in her belly. She sent a pleading look to the other guys but several of them held up their hands in surrender as they tried to keep from laughing at her predicament. She mouthed “traitor” to them as she kept a death grip on Cregan underneath her.
“It’s already done if you haven’t noticed. Now get to scrubbing, Luke needs to hose off the soap soon,” he said before readjusting his hold on her legs, securing her enough to make her loosen her hold on him. She grumbled as she carefully straitened up, beginning to clean the bug splatter off again as she slowly relaxed on his shoulder.
After she gotten off what she could, Cregan stepped back from the truck as Luke got to work. She passed off the brush to Darry before Stark slowly lowered her down. She breathed a sigh of relief as her feet finally touched the ground again and sagged back into Cregan as his arm came around her midsection to keep her steady.
“That wasn’t so bad now, was it?” He was grinning down at her, still find her reacting amusing.
“You know I don’t do roofs for a reason…,” she muttered. She wasn’t nearly as irritated as his hand on her hip distracted her but she wasn’t going to let him see that. Before he could say anything, Bolton took that opportunity to open his mouth.
“Hey lieutenant, you think you can stop flirting long enough to help get the bay swept out while it’s quiet?” At his words a collective groan came from everyone.
“Damnit Bolton! You know what that word does!” Locke said as he started to rush relaying hose.
“What? It’s not like it actu-,“ Bolton was cut off as the tones dropped for their station.
“Station 1, Station 1, need a squad to respond to 248 Arrow St for a male with chest pain. Time out 0823,” came across the station loudspeaker. Luke, Darry, and her already getting into the squad before the dispatcher finished.

3 Breathing Danger
vanessa shelly x fem reader
Description: Y/N, is a young coffee-loving woman who likes to work at a local coffee shop in the evenings. Y/N has struggled with asthma since she was a child, and breathing problems can be caused by stress, which certainly doesn't help when a mysterious man starts stalking her. She soon discovers that her best friend, Vanessa, is working with the police to investigate a series of murders at Freddy Fazbear's local pizzeria and believes that Y/N's stalker may be connected.
Warning: This chapter contains descriptions of asthma and its effects, attraction and relationships, adorable cats.
Chapter third: A Bittersweet Parting
The weekend draped itself lazily over Y/N's shoulders, a welcome respite from the bustling weekdays. Nestled in the comfort of her cozy apartment, she relished the simple joy of lounging on her couch, a book in hand, and Maylo nestled comfortably on her stomach. The rhythmic purring of her feline companion created a soothing backdrop to the quiet afternoon.
As she lost herself in the pages of her novel, the gentle rise and fall of her chest matched the tranquil rhythm of the day. However, amidst this idyllic scene, a subtle tightness constricted her chest, a familiar sensation that whispered the onset of a looming asthma episode.
Y/N paused, her fingers halting their gentle strokes on Maylo's fur. The comforting embrace of her home couldn't shield her from the unpredictability of her respiratory condition. The air seemed denser, each breath a bit more labored than the last.
She reached for her inhaler, a trusty companion that offered fleeting reprieve in moments like these. With practiced ease, she administered the medication, the cool mist offering a fleeting sense of relief as it expanded her constricted airways.
Though she had grown accustomed to managing her asthma, there were moments when its sudden onset caught her off guard. She closed her eyes, willing her body to relax, focusing on the steady rhythm of her breathing. Maylo, attuned to her distress, nuzzled closer, offering a comforting presence that eased her tension.
The quietude of her apartment cocooned her in a haven of familiarity, a sanctuary she cherished especially during moments of physical unease. Gradually, the tightness in her chest began to loosen its grip, the inhaler's effects slowly working their magic.
With each passing minute, her breathing steadied, the heaviness in her chest dissipating into the ether. Y/N sighed, the remnants of the episode fading away as she reclined against the soft cushions of the couch.
She resumed petting Maylo, the gentle motion a grounding force amidst the lingering traces of discomfort. The afternoon stretched on, the quietude restored, allowing her to sink back into the comforting embrace of her book and the reassuring presence of her furry companion.
In these moments, she was reminded of the delicate balance between her everyday life and the ever-present specter of her health condition. Despite the occasional interruptions it brought, Y/N found solace in her ability to manage it, finding strength in the familiarity of her home, where she could navigate the ebb and flow of her asthma with quiet determination.
As the afternoon waned and the gentle glow of the setting sun painted the room in warm hues, Y/N closed her book, her chest now at ease and her mind settled. She smiled at Maylo, grateful for the steadfast comfort he provided.
With a contented sigh, she embraced the tranquility of her home once more, reveling in the simple joys that awaited within its familiar walls.
The calm of the afternoon was interrupted by a soft knock at the door, pulling Y/N from her serene cocoon. Maylo, ever the vigilant guardian of the household, perked up at the sound, his tail swishing with anticipation. Y/N, curious yet slightly puzzled, set her book aside and made her way to the door.
As she opened it, she was met with the reassuring sight of Vanessa standing there, a concerned expression softening the lines of her face. Vanessa, in her police uniform, carried an air of authority softened by familiarity. Her presence alone often brought a flutter of emotions to Y/N’s heart, the silent yearning for more moments spent together.
"Hey, Y/N," Vanessa greeted, her voice a gentle melody that danced through the air. "I was nearby and thought I'd check in on you. How are you feeling?"
Y/N's cheeks flushed slightly, a combination of surprise and warmth at Vanessa's unexpected visit. "I'm okay now, thank you. It was just a minor asthma flare-up."
Vanessa's brows furrowed in concern. "Are you sure? Should I come in and make sure you're alright?"
Y/N's heart fluttered at the genuine worry etched across Vanessa's face. "No, no, I'm fine, really. It's passed. Thank you for stopping by, though. It means a lot."
Maylo, seizing the opportunity to greet his favorite visitor, meowed affectionately and wound himself around Vanessa's legs, eliciting a chuckle from both women.
Vanessa crouched down, scratching behind Maylo's ears. "Hey there, buddy. Missed me, huh?"
Y/N couldn't help but smile at the endearing sight. "Looks like Maylo's happy to see you."
Vanessa straightened up, a hint of reluctance in her expression. "I wish I could stay longer, but duty calls. I just wanted to make sure you're okay."
Y/N's heart sank a little at the prospect of Vanessa's imminent departure. "I appreciate it, Vanessa. Thank you for checking in on me."
Their eyes met, a brief but charged moment of connection that lingered in the air, unspoken words hanging between them like unopened letters.
With a sigh, Vanessa nodded. "Take care of yourself, Y/N. I'll swing by again soon, okay?"
Y/N nodded, a mixture of disappointment and understanding tugging at her heartstrings. "I'll be here. Stay safe out there."
Vanessa offered a small smile before turning to leave, Maylo trailing after her for a few steps before darting back inside. Y/N watched her go, the faint echoes of Vanessa's presence lingering in the air even after she was gone.
As she closed the door, Y/N leaned against it, a bittersweet ache settling in her chest. The warmth of Vanessa's concern lingered, a poignant reminder of the feelings she harbored, tucked away in the depths of her heart.
With a wistful sigh, she returned to the comfort of her home, the echo of Vanessa's visit lingering like a cherished melody, warming the quiet corners of her heart.

Hello dear <3 can I request a lady lesso x reader hurt/comfort w r being in a worse mental state than usual and sometimes they get these panic attacks where they go non-verbal and zone out and have difficulty breathing and leo does some grounding exercises w them and gently coaxes them? It's been happening to me and I'm having a hard time w it unfortunately
Hey lovely I hope this is okay I’m sorry it’s rather short
Non verbal Dove
*Authors note~ I wrote this while feeling much like reader. So I'm hoping my experience will make this more relatable for you all, however I'm cautious of the fact these topics are sensitive and different for everyone. *
Trigger warning~ panic attacks, non verbal reader, past relationship trauma
Prompt ~ see the ask^^^^
You'd been dealing with your mental health now for years, some days were good and others slightly harder, yet it was normally under control. The only person in the whole school that was aware of this was Lady Lesso, your girlfriend Leo. Despite being the Dean of Evil, she was the most caring and gentle human you'd ever had the pleasure of meeting let alone loving.
Recently you'd been stressed out due to the upcoming assessment period, you'd began to subconsciously neglect your needs. Unfortunately for you, today was becoming rather overwhelming for you, your anxiety was sky high and not being able to control it was triggering out your depression. Feeling useless and worthless made things so much worse. Knowing you weren't in the safety of your girlfriends office or her arms made it even more scary for you, you couldn't risk an attack of any sort.
Things got too overwhelming for you in your last hour of classes, causing you to flee the room. You felt as though your airways were closing up, your head was spinning and your chest heaving. You knew what this was, you'd had it before yet every time you still managed to convince yourself you were dying. After all that's exactly what it felt like. You were struggling to focus, trying to remind yourself to breathe and make your way to your girlfriend. It was all too much, tears now blurring your vision as the panic crept through your veins. You functioned on autopilot as you crashed into the Deans office, knocking completely slipped your mind as you we're desperately seeking the comfort from the red head.
The intrusion caused her to snap her head up with a witty comment on her tongue only for it to die on her tongue after seeing the state of you. Your hair looked as though you had been pulling at your curls, your eyes tear soaked and red while your whole body was shaking violently. You looked so small and broken in this state and it truly hurt her to see you like this. Instantly she was up cane in hand coming to lead you back to her chair. You instantly responded clambering sloppily onto her lap, hands wrapping around her neck as you struggled to catch your breath. Her hand stroked up and down your spine as she slowed her breathing urging you to copy her pattern.
"Darling what's 5 things you can see my love?" She murmured into your ear waiting as you managed to stutter out "you, chair, window, book, bed." Each word punctuated with a straggled breath. "That's it good job my pretty pet, what's four things you can hear?" She again waited for you to manage to answer her never stopping her soothing actions. "You, birds, students, wind" you replied your breathing beginning to even out. "Three things you can touch my love?" She continued to help ground you through what was clearly a panic attack. "You. Desk. Cane."
You finished the last two questions and stayed silent trying to follow her breathing pattern. She instantly made sure to reassure you that you were safe and doing a great job for her. She would keep you safe, nothing would happen while you sat in her arms.
You sat there like that for god knows how long, you knew you wouldn't have to move until you were ready and that was soothing for you. You yawned into the older women's neck, the attacks always wiped you out. Yet you couldn't sleep yet, you both knew that yet here in her arms it's all you desired. You still had to eat and bathe before going to bed even became remotely possible for you. "Would you like to talk about it my dove?" She murmured to you knowing that you wouldn't talk if you felt pressured or forced into it. You did tell your raven everything and a sting of apologies were mixed in with it. She held you, hand still rubbing your back as she let you get it all out.
Feeling slightly better but even more exhausted than before you mumbled into her neck "I love you Leo" and she murmured back with a kiss on your head, "and I you my darling. Now how about we get you some food and a nice relaxing bath hmm?" You nodded and mumbled another apology. "Hey no, darling I'm proud of you for coming to me and allowing me to help you. Thank you for trusting me my heart." Here with Leo you'd remain safe, heart body and mind.

Brian Griffin, who has died aged 75, was one of the most original and influential British photographers of his generation. His images of Kate Bush, Donald Sutherland, Iggy Pop and Damien Hirst, and his album covers for Echo and the Bunnymen and Depeche Mode, are some of the most famous pictures of the 1980s.
For the cover of Depeche Mode’s 1982 LP, A Broken Frame, Griffin transposed Soviet social realism to a cornfield off the M11 in East Anglia, and the result was named by Life magazine as one of the greatest images of the decade. His virtuosity saw him declared photographer of the decade by the Guardian in 1989.
His work, which has been exhibited globally, is in the permanent collections of the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A, the Arts Council and the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery.
Griffin’s success capturing the glossy worlds of money and hairspray was rooted in something darker. He was forged in the Black Country, the industrial heartland of the West Midlands, and the influence of the factories, and the harsh light from the furnaces, suffused his early photography. He had a relentless work ethic and would do anything to succeed in a world far removed from that of his upbringing.
He was born in Birmingham, the only child of Edith (nee Moore) and James Griffin, who were both factory workers. The family lived in a two-up, two-down in Lye, where every street had a factory. Young Brian felt that “the whole world appeared to be partly made of metal. Everything you touched seemed to be iron and steel.” After passing the 11-plus exam he went to Halesowen technical school, then went to work at the age of 16.
In 1965 he was making conveyors for readymix concrete plants when the factory foreman suggested he join Hagley camera club, where he picked up a camera for the first time. He then got a job at British Steel and was working as a nuclear pipework engineering estimator in 1969 when everything changed. Devastated by the end of a love affair, he decided to leave his old life behind.
Griffin’s only means of escape was photography, so he put some of his camera club images into a Boots photo album and applied to art colleges. He was accepted into Manchester Art School at the age of 21, where he studied with Martin Parr and Daniel Meadows.
In the college library he devoured books on art, and after graduating and moving to London, he spent weeks at the National Film theatre immersing himself in German and French cinema. Inspired, he began to look for work.
In 1972 he went to see the art director of Management Today magazine. Griffin’s talent was plain to see, and he was immediately put to work. He shot a shadowy monochromatic image of rush hour on London Bridge from the back of a cab, calling it his Metropolis image, after Fritz Lang’s expressionist masterpiece. Prior to this, Griffin had doubted his ability, but now he knew that he could make it as a photographer, he unleashed his artistry.
Through his images for the magazine, Griffin introduced surrealism to the boardroom. His industrial background meant that he clicked with the businessmen who were his subjects, and the captains of industry played ball. He wittily subverted the corporate power of the men he photographed by introducing discordant juxtapositions, building tension. He wound intrigue throughout his work, stopping the viewer in their tracks, making them take time over his images, and his work began to be recognised.
Ambitious, he wanted to expand his repertoire and earn more money. He understood that the style he had honed in the business world would translate into the pop sphere, where post-punk bands were eschewing bondage trousers in favour of being suited and booted. He went to Stiff Records and photographed Elvis Costello and the Attractions and Ian Dury and the Blockheads.
Recognition followed and commissions flooded in. He worked for Esquire, Rolling Stone, the Face, Time Out, the Sunday Times and the Observer, in advertising for British Airways, BMW and Levi Jeans, and photographed Brian May in a series for Sony Walkman in 1980.
That year he moved to Rotherhithe, a working-class area of south London on the banks of the Thames. He loved the place, recognised its people and was to stay there all his life. He set up a studio from where he continued to push the boundaries of the conventional. Using his background in engineering, allied to his innate creativity, he built lighting machines and used knicker elastic and ping-pong balls to create startling special effects in an analogue age.
Some experiments led to happy accidents: his highly regarded 1984 image of Siouxsie Sioux, intended as a double exposure, was in fact a triple: “It was wrong, but so right,” he said.
In the days before social media, aside from magazines, the main showcase for a photographer’s work was on walls, be they in galleries or town centres. Griffin’s first solo London exhibition was at Contrast Gallery in 1981, and the posters of his work for bands such as Spandau Ballet and Ultravox were plastered across the land. His family finally saw his work and were proud: they had always wanted more for Brian than factory life.
As well as portraiture, he produced numerous documentary projects. In 1986 he photographed construction workers at the Broadgate development in the City of London. At the time he was still reeling from the death of his father from lung cancer, due to a life inhaling cast-iron dust. The project allowed Griffin to pay homage to his father and to all working people: he monumentalised the men “like knights lying in state in a cathedral with their swords”.
In 1989 he left still photography to make television commercials, music videos and short films, but returned a decade later. In 2003 he produced a project to aid Birmingham’s bid to become the European City of Culture. He worked promoting the 2012 London Olympics and in 2015 his photo-essay, Himmelstrasse, movingly documented the railway tracks in Poland that transported people to Nazi death camps. He continued to work up until the end of his life, with new projects still in the pipeline.
He had more than 20 monographs published in his lifetime and won numerous awards. In 2013 the Royal Photographic Society awarded him their Centenary Medal, and the following year he received an honorary doctorate from Birmingham City University for his lifetime contribution to his home city.
Griffin’s 1980 marriage to the photographer Frances Newman ended in divorce. Their daughter, Layla, died in 2020; he is survived by their son, Danz, and three grandchildren.
🔔Brian James Griffin, photographer, born 13 April 1948; died 27 January 2024

Hii!
Just wondering how it is going with the books!!💕
And how everything else is going for you I really miss reading youre writing style and your works definitely deserves to be on the bookshelf’s!!!!
All the best!!💖🙏
They're going well! I am currently 50k words into my main story and going strong on my others! I have to say that i am so thankful for my tbz fanfics because without them, i wouldn't have made my main story, which i love so incredibly much. I have been writing on it since 2020, perfected it and changed and tried and i love the characters so much <3
I'm in my first year of university, so that's what's going on for me currently haha ... don't have that much time to write sadly, but i make time. How are you doing?
I would love to show you a little bit of my current writing style! This is from my other main story, about three sisters in capitivity by their uncle and his "friend" on board an ocean liner during 1910s!
"OL, I want to go home," she whispered. "Me too," replied OL sadly. "When the ship docks in port … can't we just run?" "Run?" "We can just run and start a new life — without Mr D and ES." OL nodded. “Yeah ... let's run.” TN turned her gaze towards the older sister. She burst into a smile. OL smiled too. She took TN's hand in hers. "I'm so glad I have you, OL," she said quietly embarrassed. "I don't say this often, but honestly, I don't know what I would have done without you." OL squeezed her hand harder. "I could never have taken care of myself and GS," TN said quietly. "We hadn't managed when mother got sick. I can do absolutely nothing.” Her words make OL's throat burn with tears. She has to clear her throat, force the fire down and force a smile. "You do know things," she persisted. “Stop that.” TN snorted, holding the arm of her nightgown to her running nose. "You noticed the looks before me," she said. “You understood everything before me.” "I'm older than you," OL replied kindly. "When I was thirteen, I didn't understand certain things either. There are things I don't understand now either, which I will know when I'm older. GS doesn't know things like you know now. Everything has its time. It's not your fault.” “I hate the way Mr. D treats her. I want to beat him so that his teeth fall out.” "Me too, but it won't help us — if anything, it will make our situation worse." "He hit you, didn't he?" OL hesitated before sheepishly nodding "You protected me from everything … every single time … and I didn't notice," said TN. “I have never thanked you. Thank you, OL.” “You don't have to thank me.” OL pulled back a blonde strand behind TN's ear. She wanted to say something, but the tears welled up in her throat, blocking both her throat and airways. TN leaned her head against her shoulder, digging it into her skin. "I wish I was like you," she whispered. “I wish I was more like you.” TN smiled weakly, as if she didn't believe it but wanted it terribly. She closed her eyes. OL rested his head against hers.
Hopefully I'll be able to present this entire story for you all someday<3

Somehow, trying to redesign Batman rogues is way more difficult than redesigning Spiderman rogues.
Somehow, they aren't inspiring many ideas for me, and much like a lot of dc content, the variations of the characters as a mainline fresh new take on everything is extremely limited in the creativity of variation to their genders and backstories that lead up to them becoming who/what they are. (Or it's left as a one-time one-off thing)
I think we could do with some more genderswaps and stuff, y'know? It would help inspire more creativity with the concepts of the characters. Give more substance to work with.
Some ideas/concepts for what I mean:
Joanna Crane, excluded from her field of research because her methods were too extreme and her research was becoming unethical and against all tules and regulations. Excluded due to being a woman in a field dominated by men within the corrupt city of Gotham.
Oswin Cobblepot, worked exceptionally hard despite her appearance to get where she is in life. Becoming powerful with an impressive influence in the underbelly of Gotham. All stemming from or origins in seeking insurance and protection for her high class club/bar after it had been wrecked one night by thugs. Ever since, she'd managed to firmly plant herself proudly in the underworld.
Arnona Wesker, always had a fascination with puppetry ever since she was little. Due to a sudden house fire when she was just a teen, she lost her collection of puppets.. well, all but 1 head. She salvaged it and kept it for later. Later never came, and her life progressed like a roller coaster of hills. At some point early in her adulthood, she started to hear a voice. It wasn't her own, and it always seemed to come from where she kept that dummy head. The dummy had become sentient.
Arlo Quinzel, talk show radio therapist and psychologist who received one too many prank calls from a bored Joker that ended in his career on the airways. He was highly influential, for better or for worse. Besides psychology, Arlo also enjoyed reading about classical theater and watching performances. An interest of his that had been forced out of him by his family, forcing him instead to go into a more "appropriate" and beneficial field of work. Safe to say, he finally got his wish to entertain through theater and the arts.. albeit twisted into something less playful.
Victoria Fries, a well-known cryogenicist who merely studied the effects of cryogenics on living things, trying to find a way to prevent the death of cells on the body when frozen. In a way, trying to slow down death and aging. Her experiments were done mostly on plants as any suggestions for small animals to help progress her research had always been denied.
Edlyn Nygma, the smartest student in all her schools growing up. She was the brightest despite her dark and dreary homelife. She worked extra hard to prove herself to her old-fashioned misogynistic father, and when that failed, she worked even harder to exceed him and escape the life she suffered through for years. After succeeding, her life hardly picked up. Being forced to work in a small publishing company that made riddle and joke books, the only place that wanted to accept her regardless of her qualifications. The years of monotony and lack of approval to her ideas finally made her crack, burning the place down after. Seeking now to challenge Gotham to prove her mind and self as something worth listening to. Becoming Gotham's anonymous "Riddler" and learning to use people's underestimations of her to her advantage.
Waylynn Jones, ..idk her story could be left alone from the original. Skin condition she was born with that disfigured her, or it was like some kind of genetic mutation that made her look more crocodilian than human, only getting worse as she grew up before finally reaching a point it wouldn't progress any further, leaving her looking big and monstrous.
Salem Kyle, his backstory can also remain pretty much the same as canon with minimal changes. Why change what works? Also I have no ideas for him tbh
Harper Dent, another than could be left the same as the main canon, just swapped around so they're a woman instead cuz we appreciate complex women 👍

After arriving at London Gatwick following a spur-of-the-moment booking, Reiner stretched his tired frame as he stepped off of the British Airways flight that had just landed from Vancouver. His neck pillow clung to him haphazardly and he heaved a hurriedly-packed duffel bag over his shoulder as he and the other passengers shuffled towards immigration and baggage claim. His body clock was shot - in his head, it was 2am, but the blinding, 10am sunshine told him otherwise, and while he’d managed to sleep on the plane, his head and eyes felt heavy as they yearned for rest.
He made it through immigration with ease, and was soon restlessly twitching his leg as he waited for his suitcase at baggage claim. The dusting of sleepiness had cleared thanks to the fluorescent lighting and excessive air-con, and Reiner’s thoughts had returned to seeing Marley, who was waiting on the other side of the wall at arrivals. Or, rather, was waiting in her car in a pick-up bay. She’d messaged him just after landing saying that the arrivals hall was busier than they’d anticipated, and to avoid an unwanted media-frenzy, she was going to wait in the car just outside.
On sight of his silver Samsonite suitcase, Reiner all but barged the waiting travellers out of the way so he could haul it from the carousel and head for the arrivals hall, feeling thankful that he’d chosen a four-wheeled case that glided with ease and, most importantly, speed. He dodged a small number of paparazzi by raising his hood and ducking his head, and upon seeing Marley’s car parked in the pick-up bay, ran full tilt, forgetting his prior tiredness. He threw his things onto the back seat before excitedly climbing into the passenger side of the black Mercedes G-Class, immediately leaning over and cupping Marley’s face to pull her into a forceful kiss. Marley giggled her way through it, ever moved by Reiner’s apparently uncontrollable affections, and the two of them smiled at one another wider than they had done in a while.
Click.
Everything fell right back into place as Reiner fastened his seatbelt, and Marley began to pull away from the airport. It perhaps wasn’t the best idea to drive - what with at least ninety minutes ahead of them as they drove to Marley’s London bolt-hole in Battersea - but Marley knew that Reiner couldn’t have stomached being folded up on a train, even if it did cut the journey time, not after such a long flight. She didn’t mind, anyway. In her mind it just gave them time they wouldn’t have had otherwise.
“How was your flight?”
Reiner’s head lolled back against the headrest as he turned to look at Marley; she didn’t have to take her eyes off of the road to know what expression he was making, and she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Come on!” she pleaded, “Business class on British Airways can’t be that bad, can it?”
“Mar.” Reiner’s voice was surprisingly stern, although he was still smiling. “I got put next to this greasy businessman who did not stop smacking his lips after throwing peanuts in his mouth the entire flight. Whenever this guy was awake he sounded like a… bulldog, or something.”
Having had a good night’s sleep and not just endured a nine and a half hour flight, it was easy for Marley to find the humour in the situation. She pouted her bottom lip.
“Poor baby,” she mocked, “time to start flying on a private yet, although I have to say, I’m fond of a peanut on a flight…”
“Stop,” laughed Reiner as he gently hit Marley across the arm, “you made your point. Go back to asking me about my favourite colour, or something.”

Yeaaaa throat slitting in movies and books is kinda a lie. You won’t slit the throat, you’ll slit the trachea. Which…. Is also made of cartilage so good luck (you can even feel the cartilage rings it’s made of on your neck like come on). The throat basically almost touches the spine. And there’s not this many blood vessels in the front, if someone manages to slit the front of your neck open you won’t bleed so much that you’ll start coughing up and chocking on blood. The veins and arteries are on the sides of the neck, not front, and the veins that supply the trachea are on the inside of the neck, supplying both the oesophagus and the trachea. You’ll have a hole in your airways and uhh…. You kinda have a hand or two to ya know, plug it up. Not saying you won’t bleed. But I’m saying it won’t be like a bubbling fountain of blood making you scream and choke. Technically there can be if the cut is wide enough to catch the side arteries that supply the brain. But uhhh ironically. If you lean your head back, they also move back, so if someone holds a knife to you throat (firstly you’ll know they watched too many movies). Instead of hiding it or something, you need to look up and expose it. It sounds counterintuitive I know, I really knoooow but anatomy does it’s shit. So yes, throat slitting is a lie. The more you know :>
- 🚀
You’re exploding my mind a bit…
