They say he looks like his mother. Her hair, her nose, her face.
He wouldn't know. She died giving birth to him apparently.
They say that he looks like his father. His eyes, his smile, his stature.
He can see it, kinda. But at the same time... He really doesn't.
Luo Binghe had always imagined his parents in his youth. And tried to guess what he got from them.
He always thought he got the curls they were so proud of. That they loved the fact he had them too.
He always thought he got their smile. That they were embarrassed about, but would have seen it beautiful on him.
He always thought he got their hands. Warm and scarred from hard work and desperately clinging to what was theirs. Hands that made him and longed to hold him even though they weren't able to.
He always thought he got their eyes. Maybe not the color, not anymore not after the seal's removal, but the shape. And maybe their lashes too. He had once thought that they might be able to see through his eyes even though they were gone because they were the same. (He doesn't think that they are the same now, but deep down he still wishes for that shared sight that would never be.)
He always thought he looked a lot like them. But he never thought that he would be an exact match.
Now that he thinks about it... He never imagined two people for his parents. He always knew that it took two to make a baby, but he only thought of one person.
A person who he had only seen in dreams.
Was it fun, my son?
A person who knew his faults and his blessings better than anyone else.
I'm sorry that it ended so abruptly. But we had to end it. I had to bring it to a close.
A person who watched over him from the very beginning.
For how far it went from what I originally planned... I can't say that I regret writing it.
A person who might have made mistakes and ended up hurting him as a result.
Because I love this silly, messy, utterly insane story of yours.
A person who loved him, even from afar.
Now that it's done. How about we write another one, my son? One where you have a chance to get strong and to be loved early on?
Luo Binghe wanted nothing more than to meet that person.
I think a transmigration story would be the best set up for that. But who would be the isekaied fool? They need to be intelligent, but dumb, like emotionally dense. Snarky, points out faults of the original story but would care enough to finish it. And of course, love my Bing-er.
But he won't be able to would he?...
... Oh, Bing-er... I can't go to you like that. But maybe...
A crack of lightning, the smell of burning flesh, the screams of a newborn babe.
Not excat, but it's as close as I can do without people having enough clues to doxx me.
Green eyes and brown curls. A face like his but different at the same time. Hands that were worn by work and were greedy and possessive.
Now, I must warn you my son. This copy of me will not be around you that much. Not until it is found out he is working with demons. I do have some rules on how this transmigration set up should work after all.
Luo Binghe can work with that.
Good boy, Binghe. Shall we get started?
"Sounds good, Dada. Can we play now?"
Of course, Bing-er.
Luo Binghe might never actually see his parent. He might not ever be able to be more than a beloved creation kept tucked away in a ready made world.
But that doesn't mean he couldn't still know them and see what stories will come.
After all, Daddy's stories were the best.

So, in PIDW, there was obviously wife plots that could bring back the dead (mushroom body being one of them), and since we know Airplane is a hack that reuses concepts over and over, there’s probably multiple wife plots that could work, so like, where’s the PIDW fics where Liu Qingge somehow comes back to life, memories of Shen Jiu trying to save him intact, and goes to hunt the asshole down so he can repay his life debt, and along the way accidentally clears Shen Jiu’s name of all his crimes and now everyone is convinced Shen Qingqiu is a saint.

svsss cumplane au where, in a world of hotties, qinghua is the only one that roughly looks like a "normal person". the system wasn't as nice to airplane as he had been to sy, giving him a fresh hot bod and all sorry sj ww and as he had been reborn in his own story his body had not changed much from his original one. body hair, a bit less stature, definitely more meat compared to the other clan members who could rival with a boyband
thing is, shen yuan, after seeing airplane bathing after the mushroom seeking event and rolling in moist dirt for hours, just... cant get enough of it. how you can even have leg hair, he asks airplane, to what he answers something among the lines of "shitty core didn't help and i stopped trying afterwards" and he would surely would have kept ranting until cucumber plans his enormous hands into his belly. they were warm against the cold of the water, and while shen yuans face was of blank interest while touching his soft skin and playing with his body hair, wandering upside, directly to his brown nipples, his eyes were on fire"ah", airplane thought, "i know where this is going". with a smirk, he sticked his hand directly into the others mans wet pants.
yeah gongyi xiao was around there and he had to hide telling himself he saw nothing
bringing this again because tumblr didnt like some tag. anyways i am hungry and i need more of this in svsss

Luo Binghe would search the entire realm for a rare pidw mpreg plant just so he can attempt to baby trap Shen Qingqiu, and Shen Yuan would let him too.
(who wouldn’t want to have a baby with the protagonist after all there’s nothing gay going on here it’s just two bros being hoes nothing unusual no homo it’s just normal sex happening in this hotel room and if Luo Binghe wants a baby Luo Binghe can have a baby it would be criminal to deny him after all)
We should get Luo Binghe pregnant. It’s what he would want, trust me.

Why they got canceled - SVSSS Influencer AU
Airplane "Drama" Youtuber- He wrote smut for a living in the past and that was enough for some people. But also the money laundering and money scams. He does not care
Shen Yuan Video Essayist- got in too deep about dumb fandom drama, panicked, faked his own death. Eventually comes out years later when he's making internet essays about monsters and his past is mostly forgiven because he seems sorry
Shen Jiu Troll Channel: first for hiring a hit on Liu Qingge which he didn't do and then later and more severally for throwing hot food at a customer service employee (Luo Binghe before he started his channel ). It doesn't hurt his career because he makes money by being hated
Yue Qingyuan ASMR channel: for defending Shen Jiu
Luo Binghe Cooking Channel: for stalking Shen Yuan (revealed by Shen Jiu) which leads to Shen Yuan being half canceled and Luo Binghe being half uncancelled when they start dating because of the stalking
Liu Qingge Martial Arts Channel: for punching Shen Jiu even though people thought he deserved it and later for refusing to apologise for breaking a statue by kicking it
Zhuzhi-lang Nature Channel: for stalking Shen Yuan but is forgiven because he's just so cute
Tianlang-jun Book Review Channel: for reading erotic RPF of his own son
Liu Mingyan Book Review Channel: for writing erotic RPF of Bingqiu
Sha Hualing beauty channel: for having her nudes leaked because she definitely leaked them herself. She didn't even deny it
Mobei Jun Ice Carving Channel: killed a man

Transmigrator!Hua Cheng AU (aka SVSSS x TGCF AU) | I mean technically it's an AU but I wrote it in a way that would make it fit as HC's POV throughout TGCF, so AU or theory? Take that as you will | Warning: Canon Compliant Violence, Suicide ideation, Implied non-con (not between Hualian and never actually happens here)
"A Tale of Three Princes" was Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky’s latest novel. Unlike his previous success, Proud Immortal Demon's Way, ATTP (as it was called by the fans) was a renowned  masterpiece. Far from the stallion novels Airplane readers had been used to, ATTP was more akin to one of those classics that would be taught over and over again throughout  the centuries. What made it so peculiar though was the narrative device used to tell its story.
ATTP was not in fact a single story, but three, set in the same universe, centuries apart. The three stories were updated one after another daily, by chapters of ten thousand words (as Airplane readers were used to). Which meant that the readers had no idea how each story ended before being swept up into the next...
Which also explained why Zhu Qiang did not know any of the three endings when he got reincarnated into ATTP.
It had been just another terrible day for Zhu Qiang when he died. He had found a quiet spot in his school's stairwell to unwind and read the latest update of ATTP when his bullies had found their way back to him. He had put up a good fight, maybe too much, as he could still remember losing his footing and falling head first onto the stairs. When he had opened his eyes, it was not to the stairwell's ceiling, or even a hospital, but a busy street where people in ancient clothing looked at him strangely.
After a few minutes, he had put two and two together relatively quickly. He  had transmigrated in none other than the second story of ATTP, also called the Xianle Arc. As for which character he was supposed to be... He had no idea. When he had asked the system about it, it only flashed him a [System has encountered an error. System update…] which was not helpful in the least. Despite his more introverted personality, he had no other choice but to ask around… And the answers came relatively quickly: “It’s the monster child!” “Get away you fiend!” “Disappear!” With a sigh, he came to the realization that unlike many of those popular transmigration novels, this life wouldn’t be too much different from his previous one.
He hadn’t been the best looking guy back in his hometown, at least from what he knew, and people had always bullied him for it. This time around, he had no mirrors or phones to confirm what others said, but he supposed he wasn’t much different. (Though to be fair, even back in his previous life he had always carefully avoided mirrors and photos, he couldn’t even recall what his own face actually looked like). Once the system had finished its update, it tried to give him some helpful directions to survive, like where he could find food or shelter, but any questions about what character he was supposed to be were left unanswered. (All that he knew was that he was about ten years old). However, he finally got access to his stats (after days left to his own devices) and he almost choked on the spot.
“MINUS THIRTY-SIX ON LUCK?! WTF?!”
The reason for  these god-awful bad stats? A passive skill called Eye of Misfortune which reduced his own luck by a hundred points, and the one of surrounding people by fifteen percent. Completely unfair… But it explained people’s glares and insults. Again, with no mirror to look for, Zhu Qiang had no idea of what that Eye of Misfortune actually looked like. But at this point, he had understood that the best way to stay on the down low was to hide it. Usually, those types of novels would then introduce a special ability only the protagonist could have to solve his main issue and become a total badass… But asking the system about it, for the very first time, it seemed to express an actual tangible emotion.
[System apologizes. There has been an error. UV003 has no special ability attached to this vessel besides Eye of Misfortune and Demonic Heritage.]
Ah, yes Demonic Heritage. Another passive skill that actually was useful, unlike the other, as it made him less receptive to pain by fifty percent. He supposed it was linked to Eye of Misfortune in some way… But again how could he know when he’d apparently spawned out of nowhere with a backstory he wasn’t aware of? As time passed, the hope of bettering his life slimmed down until it seemed barely believable.
He had no parents to take care of him. No home to find shelter in. No prospect of finding a job with his “deformity” as people called it… Only two months went by before he called it quits.
If he hadn’t died in that stairwell, he probably would have jumped from the rooftop of his school. He wasn’t afraid of death, he had hoped for that prospect for many years prior to reincarnating. But reincarnation hadn’t been kinder to him. It hadn’t offered him a life he could change, one he could better to prove he was worthy of something, anything. The system flashed him warning signs, but fuck it, he was tired. So tired of playing into God’s hand.
[Major Event Activated: The Last Parade of Xianle.]
At the top of the castle’s wall, he could remember the first chapter of the second story of ATTP. “His beauty was beyond compare, his stance the one of a mighty warrior, and his gaze behind the mask: determined, fierce, and maybe even sly in his own childish way.” (Chapter 2 of A Tale Of Three Princes) He was too tired to go on, but if he had to go one last time, he wanted to see the prince, his favorite character, before doing so.
Once he saw him in his golden clothes, Zhu Qiang took a step beyond the edge and…
[Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! Great things must be said three times! You have successfully changed the plot "The Star of Bad Omen" into "A Fateful meeting"! Character role changed from "Canon Fodder" to "Side Character". +100 B-points!]
… Uh?
He was cradled into a pair of strong arms, holding him tight against embroidered robes despite his dirty appearance. He heard the sound of a wooden object hitting the floor, and he looked up. There, with the most gentle eyes he had ever seen…
[New Character Unlocked: Xie Lian, Prince of Xianle. Second protagonist of A Tale of Three Princes.]
Zhu Qiang wanted to strangle the system with all his might. Finally, finally he knew which character he had been transmigrated into: THAT ONE STUPID KID WHO KILLED HIMSELF DURING THE PARADE OF XIANLE, CURSING THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IN THE PROCESS. WOW. That one child who had no name but haunted the entire second plotline of ATTP. Never named but always present, the curse of the city, the failure of its inhabitants, a character full of symbolism but no actual practical utility to speak of… No wonder his luck stat was so low and the system did nothing to make up for it!! He was born to die!!!
That alone, pissed him off enough to reschedule his suicide at a later date. If he had to die he wanted it to be by his own hands and his own choice. If the system wanted him dead, then it was no better than his bullies back in his previous life! Besides, he was already laughing in its face, because he had been held by the Crown Prince of Xianle, a beauty amongst beauties, the most perfect and fascinating character ever written (in Zhu Qiang’s own biased opinion as a 16 year old).
What happened afterwards though was embarrassing to say the least. First he had been found out by Qi Rong (that bastard traitor, he had always hated him even when he was only a reader) who had beaten him to a pulp (he was so thankful for Demonic Heritage at that moment), then Xie Lian had saved him (yay!) and he had taken care of him (double yay!) and then he and his subordinates had asked him questions (fuck).
“What’s your name?” He doesn’t know. “What does your mother call you?” Uuuuh people said his cursed eye was red so maybe… “Hong…Hong-er?” “How cute!” Nailed it. “Where are your parents?” Damn, he wishes he knew! “I… ran away from home.” “Poor boy…” He would have felt awful if it weren’t for Xie Lian’s gentle hands and his soft smile. Any lie in the world was worth it if it allowed him to see him. He was however, feeling very uneasy in the presence of Feng Xin and Mu Qing, Xie Lian’s two closest servants and friends who were eyeing him as if he had a bomb hidden under his clothes. Especially Mu Qing, the last chapter of ATTP about Xianle he read implied that Mu Qing was about to betray the prince, and so Zhu Qiang (now renamed Hong-er) didn’t trust him one bit.
But even so… After that awful cultivator told him he didn’t deserve to live (and god did he already know that)... Xie Lian took him in his arms and said he wasn’t a monster. No matter how ugly his sobbing was, no matter the reason for his misfortune, Xie Lian, unafraid of him, held him and told him he was not a monster… that was more than anyone had ever done for him in two lifetimes. And for the first time in a long time, Zhu Qiang cried.
He already knew he was a curse on legs, and so no matter how thankful he was, he couldn’t extend his stay. He knew what sort of character he was, if he did, things would only get worse for Xie Lian from then on. And he didn’t want that for him… And then Xie Lian ascended.
It was a miracle that he stayed alive for so long. His saving grace? Not Xie Lian’s temple he had built himself and took care of. No. It was beating the other street kids like they had beaten him up before. Hey, no judgement, those weren’t modern times, the worst that would happen is some other kids coming back to get revenge and then he could whoop their ass over again. Uh? He was an adult beefing with kids? That’s a detail, system, buddy! Let him enjoy this miserable life of his that had not improved one bit in three years besides that!
[+32 exp point. User has obtained a new success: Child Beater. Congratulations… (-_-)]
Now it’s just making stuff up. Anyway, life was going, that was it. Every day was the same: go in the fields to get a flower for the crown prince’s statue (not only did it make him happy, it also raised his Faith stat!), pray, take care of the temple if need be, take leftovers from one of the big houses in the neighbourhood, beat other kids up when they came to provoke him (or steal his food), go back to the temple to pray (again), clean it up (again), steal food (again), beat kids (again) and sleep where no one will see him (...again). It was fine the first year. The second, it had become redundant, the third, he was wondering what the heck he was doing. Beating kids raised his stats slowly but surely, but becoming stronger wasn’t his goal. What he wanted… And that was it, he didn’t know what he wanted. And after three years, doubt made its way in the cracks of his broken heart: he lived so he could spite the system for attempting to kill him… But was it worth it?
Xie Lian was a god now, and with his shitty luck, was he going to live long enough to even see him for the upcoming civil war? What was the point of it all in the end? He wasn’t supposed to live. He had never been meant to live at all… So why…?
“If you don’t know what to live for, then live for me.”
[Class upgrade: Beggar -> Soldier. Skill update: STR +15. DEF +13. CHAR +5...etc]
[New passive skills acquired: Blade of Xianle, doubles the amount of exp gained from killing humans. Demonic Heritage II, the might of your ancestors give you +20 to your Strength and Speed.]
[Major event coming soon: Land of Tender, Land of Loser.]
Reading about the Land of Tender had been excruciating. One of the main criticisms towards ATTP was how downright cruel some chapters were towards the main three princes. Each had one specific traumatic event that would shape them up for the rest of the story, their own fall from grace. In the case of Xie Lian… It had been the Land of Tender.
Unlike his previous novel Airplane hadn’t romanticized what happened at all. It was so raw and so awful many readers had considered dropping the story right here and there, Zhu Qiang had been one of them. It was the start of the fall of Xianle, marked by this cruel beyond humanly possible event.
Now, standing straight with his sword in hand, Hong-er faced the flowers. He couldn’t let them close, he knew what would happen if he did. It’s the exact reason for why he had followed Xie Lian in the forest to save Qi Rong even if he hated him. If he gave up, if he wavered for just one moment… Never could he forgive himself.
And then the flowers changed appearances, and laughing, they took the face of the Crown Prince.
Back when Xie Lian only used to be a character in Zhu Qiang eyes, he admitted he looked at some fanarts or some skimpy fics about him, sometimes even watched videos imagining it was him. Face with the real deal, he had vowed himself to never see him again as some sort of forbidden pleasure. And yet those flowers had seen right through him… Maybe they had all been right, his bullies, his parents, his teachers, the villagers, everyone… Maybe he was a monster.
“You’re not a monster,” he had clinged onto those words for years. But his palm against the white skin of his prince, he felt his devotion waver. He thought it was faith, he thought it was fate, now… he wondered, hadn’t it all been in the name of lust and obsession? When Xie Lian left, and he asked for him, he reminded himself of why he shouldn’t have gotten closer in the first place: he was a jinx.
Mu Qing kicked him out of the army after this event. There was no point in arguing with him. No matter how Hong-er told him he was the one at fault for abandoning the prince, the only acknowledgement he got from him was a slap to his face and his insignia snatched out of his hands. And back to the street he was. He wasn’t beating kids anymore, no point to that, he would destroy them at the first occasion. His stats were high thanks to how much he had killed (Paper men, he reminded himself after washing the blood off his hand, paper men). There was the epidemic too. Since he was immune, he got recruited to take care of the transport of the ill. The grotesque faces made him want to puke, but it hadn’t been the worst he’d seen at that point.
He saw Xie Lian one last time. And then another time, his eyes closed, holding the pagoda… And then Xianle fell. And he was back to beating kids up to protect the temples he rebuilt.
“I’ll never forget you!!” His one reason to hold on in two lifetimes.
He died in Xie Lian’s temple, stabbed by Qi Rong, not without smashing his head in retaliation. Heavens, he hated that guy. He laughed low and quiet, the system flashing his health bar lowering and lowering. And then… As he had expected it, everything faded to black.
[GAME OVER. 2/3 life left, start again?]
Wait… HE HAD SPARE LIVES???!!
[Class update: Soldier -> Malice. Base stats changed from Human to Ghost. Passive skills still active: Eye of Misfortune, Demonic Heritage I, Demonic Heritage II, Blade of Xianle...]
[To continue…?]
(I don't know if I'll do it in multiple parts or not, if you like it I'll continue. Other than that, here's the tweets that started it all:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I added one of the replies mentioning that it could explain why his writing is so bad because I hadn't thought about it when I made my first tweets, but looking at his writing in adaptations and comparing it to how modern chinese students write... You can see similarities.)
If you enjoy the concept you can add onto it in the replies, the reblogs or send me asks!

I've seen takes about Shang Quinghua pressing the Return Home button (either on purpose or by accident) and I've also read takes where the System for some reason (a glitch or a new mission) sends both SY and SQH to the modern world. And they are great BUT.....
What if SQH pressed the Return Home option (I'm thinking on purpose, but you do you) and the System sent both back home.
Let's say that the System didn't give SY that option because he isn't user number 1 and it was up to user number 1 to make this choice. Only, because the System is such an asshole it conveniently disregarded to tell either SY or SQH this.
So SQH not knowing his choice would also affect SY (otherwise he would definitely use this to get SQQ to do as he says, like getting LBH to give him the best food 😂) decides that he will take his chances on the real world. I'm thinking that he does this in part because the System actually answered when he would wake up and told him that in the real world no time has happened or that he would go back before he spilled his ramen and electrocuted himself. The other part could be that he just panicked upon seeing LGY. Or maybe he never saw LGY and was able to explore and sightsee some of the wonders of the world he wrote about and decided that this was as good as it would get here, whereas now that he lived in a cultivation setting he had so much fucking material. He could even write the danmei version of PIDW thanks to Cucumber bro!
So he activates the return home function and proceeds to write SVSSS, only he changes the name of Peerless Cucumber to another dick joke to avoid getting sued, you know, just in case.
For his part SQQ/SY hears the System saying "Activating Return Home sequence in 3, 2, 1" and he proceeds to freak out, except of course he doesn't have time to properly freak out and/or say anything before everything goes black.
SY wakes up in the hospital, his sister found him passed out and proceed to call 110/120*. Because this is SY and he no longer can hear the System he proceeds to go in denial/repression. "Ah... It was all a dream of course" (and to be fair, this would be more of a normal reaction than how he immediately accepted he had transmigrated 😂).
Until some weeks/months/days!? (Knowing Airplane it was probably days) later, Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky starts publishing an spin off/AU of PIDW named SVSSS.
Meanwhile back on SVSSS world either (and because I love SJ and he deserves a happy ending and because YQY also deserves a happy ending and I want these two to reconcile 😭 and what are fanfics for if not to write happy endings for everyone!?!):
SQQ'S body goes into a Qi deviation and SJ wakes up (resuscitates? I'm thinking the System grabbed his soul while he was deviating and put it into storage so SY's soul could occupy the body). Obviously SJ proceeds to FREAK OUT and runs away to CQM sect.
SQQ'S body just stops working. One moment he is breathing and the next he is dead. Somewhere out there SJ wakes up in a plant body (at some point SQH tried to bring back his favorite scum villain and gifted YQY a mushroom plant body with some precise instructions to care for it without telling YQY exactly what the plant was, because he believed if someone could bring back SJ it would be his soulmate YQY, but in case he was wrong better not tell YQY why or what the plant he gifted him was for)
SQQ'S body basically becomes brain dead. Technically alive, but since there is no soul inside the body it is as good as dead (SJ comes back with a healthy plant body and reconciles with YQY in CQM)
In any of these scenarios LBH will freak out, obviously, but in the case of scenario 1 he would have no reason but to think that this like the first time SQQ lost his memories, only now he recuperated many of them and lost the ones that involve LBH. So I guess the best option for a BingYuan reunion would be to go for 2 or 3 because LBH would be looking for SQQ|SY soul not SQQ|SJ (who is alive and safe in CQM sect) but I don't really care for this pairing soooo 🤷🏻‍♀️
Upon crawling out of the earth, SJ encounters YQY who immediately knows that this is Xiao Jiu, he would have the confirmation of what he already knew, that the other SQQ was not SJ. He still has no explanation to what happened or how SQH was able to return SJ to him, but he is glad and thankful to SQH.
SQH who has disappeared. Literally, his body did a Thanos snap and became dust or simply glitched out. Because SQH was never from this world. He was born in this world and given the role of SQH but his body is technically not the one of the original but supplanted it. Similar to a changeling only it was the System and he did this from the womb.
I don't know how it would go from here, kind of a dealers choice, if you want Moshang and BingYuan(?) HEA or if CumPlane HEA in the modern world. Or happy ending for Airplane who now can dedicate time to write whatever he wants because he already has SVSSS written thanks to the System and while that sells he can concentrate in writing other things.

"Of course, because this is PIDW, Airplane wrote in some sort of plant that allows cultivators to regain their youthful appearance again. This was the chapter where Luo Binghe acquired a hot grandma-MILF for a wife." -> post about OPM Shen Yuan
Wait, when would this happen in this AU timeline? Like, after the Qing generation rose to power and they got a crush on OPM as an old man but still pre-canon (maximun impact on the Qing generation) or after the Abyss arc for Binghe (so he would feel atraction for the GILF-SY and then later look for the plant)?
This AU is wild, I'm kinda obsessed
This would mean that Shen Yuan wouldn't get a youthful appearance until, like, a few years after canon!Luo Binghe escapes the Endless Abyss. That's... many many years away.
Which implies that Shen Yuan had sex in his current old man meatsuit...
And yes, young Luo Binghe and his age gap kink is thoroughly satisfied with a grandpa-looking husband; his teenage years are full of sex dreams with such an old looking man. Yeah this version of Luo Binghe isn't really anymore mentally stable than the one in SVSSS... 🤔
Now why would Luo Binghe end up in the Endless Abyss in this AU? NATURALLY BECAUSE HE GETS INTO A BITCH FIGHT WITH A HAREM MEMEMBER - no, not PIDW! Luo Binghe styled harem, but Shen Yuan's harem. They KNOW that Luo Binghe wants to join in; they put their foot down with a big fat NO. And then someone decides that deposing Luo Binghe via the Endless Abyss is a Smart Move (because they don't want to, like, actually KILL the brat and they know that Heavenly Demons can survive it, but it will at least keep the beast away for many many many years until his crush dies down. Hopefully. Probably.
Yes, the Endless Abyss is like the heavenly demon equivalent of being shipped to military boarding school.)

The unassailable truth of Shen Qingqiu (Yuan version) is that binghe is his most important person. He loves binghe so much he literally destroyed fate to insert himself into his life (snapping shen qingqiu's and Yue qingyuan's red string), on top of the rest of it. Which! Makes being an inherent multishipper/polyashipper so HARD. Because yes! He has two hands. And may even consent to one of them not holding his husband's hand. And! He is the king of mental gymnastics so he would in fact find himself in another emotionally committed relationship without internalizing it as a relationship that may infringe on the emotional boundaries of his and binghe's marriage (and binghe may be alternatively too twice-bitten shy to bring that up or overly possessive so that shen qingqiu can ignore his complaints without serious talking it out skills they both sincerely lack) but he would definitely drop any and every thing for binghe at a moment's notice without SERIOUS plot contrivance
There's a reason most sqq-is-getting-with-someone-else scenarios happens while binghe is still 14 or paying tuition for his abyss schooling (unless it's 3some time in which case the bingqiu of it all is usually already established)!! The glaring lack of binghe in fics desperately trying to not be about binghe is so funny
Anyways mostly I think this is hilarious in context of cumplane shipping because shen yuan is also crazy about airplane shooting towards the sky, like for proper lack of binghe (and the pidw world shen yuan fucking loves*) shen yuan would absolutely fixate on airplane the way he fixates in lbh BUT the MOMENT binghe becomes real in an actualized tangible way, shen yuan would unfortunately drop airplane like a hot potato (with lots of mental gymnastics)
like completely unintentionally and rationalizing it as helping airplane's best bit of writing the whole time, he'd fall face first into binghe whatever form he took leaving airplane to be like: [puppy dog eyes] bro!
I think this is mostly funny in this context because airplane can also be shallow and emotionally constipated so there's a way that whole mess could be funny instead of tragic. Like, for as much of shen yuan's/shen qingqiu's entire personality is based on airplane's actions and Luo binghe in specific, airplane doesn't have the same emotional attachment to cucumber! Airplane has his weird emotional obsession with his own work! So like, he would be, at least partially, completely flattered and vindictive that shen yuan immedietly obsessed over his suddenly incarnated self insert edgy oc.
But like, ANY OTHER shade of this dynamic is so wholly tragic. The second most popular form of shen yuan/qingqiu is in a relationship with someone else and it is Not a 3some is Binghe is The Antagonist to some terrifying degree in order to keep them separate. Like there's no form of au in which binghe exists as a platonic friend because they're whole Thing is being Obsessed with each other
Uh anyways, to get around the inherent emotional see-saw of this dynamic, I definitely subscribe to the Shen Yuan is in Romo for ALL of pidw, fixating on binghe yes because he is the pure distillation of PIDW originally, but post transmigration when he is immersed in the PIDW world, and learns to let himself grow as a person, that world begins to revolve around him. Oh that Asterix from earlier goes here.
The reason so many people in svsss fixate on sqq beyond the bl tropes or whatever is simply because airplane wrote pidw for his fans and cucumber is his biggest one, so of course when shen yuan transmigrates in and starts inserting himself into things the world bends over backwards to fall in love with him.
Like. Airplane's system hates him and he doesn't connect to any of the characters I think because even though he loves the story it is too close to himself. It's a reflection of who he is: someone desperate and wanting to do good/create but being crushed under a system he can't fight. It's the one self indulgent thing he writes into his story that he keeps even after "selling out" that lets him grow (mobei jun).
I dont know where I'm going with this . Uh. SVSSS harem ending when I guess.

SVSSS snippets from fics that never came to be
Because I don't want them to just die on my harddrive. Mostly BingQiu, but contains various ships. No Archive Warnings Apply.
BingQiu - Angel AU. I abandoned this one because the whole Christian idea of angels just didn't mesh well with the Chinese everything from SVSSS
It’s really quite embarrassing how Shen Qingqiu dies.
No ambush to take out the Demon Realms’ Empress. No gigantic monster to tear through him as he heroically throws himself in front of his husband, and no [Idea Three]
In the end, it is like this: he wakes up with a cough. It doesn’t seem like much for the first day, and Binghe makes him a nice cup of tea to soothe his throat. They go to sleep wrapped up in each other’s arms, and then -- he simply never wakes.
Except he does, he does, and what does it matter if he is burning with an internal light that blinds everyone who tries to look at him, Binghe can still see him, and it’s not like the wings on his back weigh that much anyways!
Things are simply… a little different.
He has twenty-six mouths, and the record of how many he can put to use on his husband at once before he comes is thirteen and getting higher. He has fifty-two eyes, and so none of his disciples have been able to get away with cheating since.
And yeah, sure, he has been getting complaints about people who haven’t been getting any sleep because he summons enough light to brighten the whole Sect when his husband brings him over his peak, but what is he supposed to do! Papapa in daylight? Are you mad?
* * * BingQiu - senseless fluff. This one has the highest chance of one day finding a place in a oneshot.
Shen Qingqiu cringed as Binghe plucked the wrong string, the note loud and discordant. Hurrying forward, he bowed down next to where Binghe was diligently practising the Qin, and laid his hand over Binghe’s own.
“See? Like this,” he said as he gently folded Binghe’s fingers into the correct position.
Binghe nodded, ears tinted red -- embarrassed about his mistake, no doubt -- and continued onwards with his song, making no further mistakes.
Shen Qingqiu sighed, thoroughly content, and settled back to listen. He was very glad that Binghe had never questioned why his Shizun didn’t just give verbal instructions -- imagine having to admit he didn’t know what anything was called, that he was operating on muscle memory alone! He'd surely be more embarassed than Binghe was now.
* * *
CumPlane - No Transmigration AU. How much would a banana cost? Twelve dollars?
“Airplane.”
“Cucumber-bro. Why the hell are you here?”
Shen Yuan has the audacity to act like that’s a strange question, like he always waltzes around in supermarkets for people with less income than a small country in his spare time. He puts a hand to his chest, his face pulled in an offended expression that he doesn’t even have the decency to make look natural. He lifts his other hand, a plastic bag of marshmallows pinched between his thumb and pointer finger carefully held at least a foot away from him. It was all too clearly just grabbed from the shelf next to him.
“Why, I’m shopping, obviously. I adore these --" he squinted his eyes, “mahs-mellos, now two for the price of one.”
Even though Shang Qinghua didn't know what life was like with not only a private cheff but twice-weekly deliveries of food without ever even making a shopping list, he was pretty sure you'd still know what a marshmellow was.
"Is this about Binghe's latest wife?"
"Yes!" Shen Yuan abandons his pretense of politeness and motions wildly, almost smacking Shang Qinghua in the face with off-brand sweets. "Of course this is about Binghe! How could you --"
* * *
BingQiu (?) - Tropes. I think this may be the first thing I ever wrote for SVSSS, and it's only a paragraph long. It's nice to see where I've come from.
When he woke up, he found to his disappointment that they had not accidentally cuddled together in the night. System! He wanted a refund. What happened to 'gravitating towards each other in their sleep'? No 'instinctively searching out each other's heat'? If he had to live in a dogblood novel, at least he should get its shameless excuses for physical contact. What was he supposed to do, actually ask for it? His face isn't thick enough for that!
* * *
No Ship - Shang Qinghua. From something angsty. I think I felt poetic. I still kinda like it, and might recycle it someday.
"I will do this," Shang Qinghua spoke. His hands shook and so did his courage, but his voice was kept steady against it all. "I will finish out these few days, and I will set my plan in motion, do not doubt that."
He clenched his fist, then loosened it again. "And when it is done," he said almost idly, "I will loosen the tight grip I have on myself, and I will break. I will shatter into a hundred, a thousand little pieces, and whatever will come next, I will not be there to care about it."
* * *
BingQiu - Music. I think this might actually be connected to the earlier bit about instruments, something about telling a story through song? I don't have a musical bone in my body, so it was left to gather dust.
Shizun was learning how to play the flute, entirely from scratch. Binghe's heart felt it could jump out of his chest at the overwhelming affection he felt each time Shizun played a discordant note, each time he stopped in the midst of song, frowned, and started from the beginning again.
Shizun trusted him, Binghe thought. Shizun allowed himself to be vulnerable, to show himself as something other than the perfect Master who knew everything -- then again, this only made him more perfect in Binghe's eyes, as each scratchy melody spoke of determination and perseverance, of his cleverness and speed of learning.
Shizun was truly amazing.
* * *
Platonic CumPlane - Explanations. Before this bit, Shang Qinghua was explaining something about gender or sexuality, I forgot what.
"That sounds stupid," Shen Qingqiu said bluntly.
Shang Qinghua frowned at him, serious in a way he rarely was. "Don't disparage it just because you flinch away from any indication you might not be 'normal.'"
* * *
OG!Luo Binghe/Shen Yuan - Abduction. Bingge steals a Shen Yuan, but isn't ready to accept the resulting affection.
“Oh, and I’m sure that one morning I’ll wake up, and I'll realize that you’ve wrapped me up so tight I can barely breath," Luo Binghe crooned. "And that will be the moment I’ll take scissors to your web, little spider, but until then I’ll gladly let you play with your strings.”
Shen Yuan stared at him. "There are no strings," he felt the need to say. "And if there are, that's because you put them there."
"Then why do I feel like I can't breathe when you touch me?" Binghe shouted. "Why do I feel like I'm going to collapse when you walk away!"
"I don't know," Shen Yuan said, a little more vicious than he'd like. "I don't know anything about you! You are so --" He screamed in frustration. "I didn't do anything! It's you! You are feeling something, but I didn't reach into your chest and put it there!"
Binghe recoiled, but Shen Yuan didn't let him speak.
"Why would you take me like that if you didn't want me! You can't go, oh, love me or you die, and I'll just pick the next Shen Yuan that will," Shen Yuan mimiced Binghe's smooth voice. "You can't demand me to love you and then be mad when I do!"
He paused, breathing heavy. "It's not my fault when you grow to feel something in return," he said softly. "Just... Either try and accept it, or finally kill me. I'm done." He closed his eyes. "... I'm done."

SVSSS AU Idea: To Ensure Fate
svsss au where shen yuan isn't a transmigrator, but just a kid, but a System latches on to him anyway and decides he has to 'fix the story the fates have written'
he becomes the beloved (and spoilt) qing jing head disciple, and when Luo Binghe shows up, hes excited for a new shidi! until the System tells him that this is the one he must guide, who will kill his (not father) shizun and burn his sect to the ground, when sqq pushes him into the abyss
long story short, Shen Yuan loves his sect and everyone on it, and bargins with the System. Luo Binghe has to fall down, but who and why is all flexible Shen Yuan jumps in with Luo Binghe
Shen Jiu doesnt realise this tho
Shen Jiu, unwilling to show he’s rattled he just had to murder one of his displies: "we must leave now, Shen Yuan"
Crickets chirping
Shen Jiu: "...Shen Yuan...?"
Shen Jiu sees some of what happened and blames Luo Binghe for 'murdering' his head disciple - righteous fury smothering betral vs pure heartbreak
i think it would be very sweet if Shen Yuan chooses Shen Jiu, not Luo Binghe - bc no one every keeps their promises to Shen Jiu. it would be nice if Shen Yuan was the exception - and Luo Binghe legally can't be upset bc im not writing that, instead he is cheering on his crush from the demon realm where he has taken power
Shen Yuan know's some of his dad's trauma and is like "Luo Binghe i know that was fucked up but like. my dad has the world's worst issues. hes so fucked up."
Luo Binghe: ",,, he's on thin fucking ice, but he's ur dad and i would have murdered 100 men for my mum so i do get you"
Shen Yuan is fully unaware of this crush. Shen Jiu is not and he's going to make the little bastard jump through hoops to court his son - the only reason Shen Jiu didn't fucking murder him on sight the next time they ran into eachother is because Luo Binghe kept Shen Yuan alive in the abyss
Luo Binghe takes the same amount of time he did in PIDW canon, and it's Shen Yuan who returns early
Luo Binghe rushes the abyss to get Shen Yuan out early (2 years) and qi deviates bc of his rush to grab a powerful sword to save a shen : )
but, unlike YQY, he does save Shen Yuan
ANYWAY i think it would be fun. if Shen Jiu has to confront his trauma through Shen Yuan, and in turn becoming fond of Luo Binghe bc he's just as impulsive and reckless as YQY used to be
in this au YQY and SQQ talked! bc Shen Yuan bullied the information out of his System (by acting real cute) and then bullied YQY into telling Shen Jiu (by threatening his fucking life)
the higher ups wrote everything off as a lost cause when the scheduled transmigrator never showed up, so the System has a lot of free reign
the System, crying to itself: "host is so cute,,, if anything happens to host i will kill everything in the world and then myself"
SQH thinks Shen Yuan is a transmigrator and references things and Shen Yuan plays along OR Shen Yuan has no clue and SQH is like "Ah you're maintaining cover!'
consider: he does both, just to fuck with him a little - Shen Yuan always bullies SQH. its a law of the universes
SQH asks who Shen Yuan was and, knowing that SQH called himself Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky calls himself "Peerless Cucumber" as a joke and the fact it works floors Shen Yuan
After, of course, the small panicking revelation that he is essentially talking to the creator of the world. At first it's all "oh shit he knows everything" before it becomes "this guy's not that smart huh?"

Thank you so much for sharing the link!!
You’re right it was hilarious!! I almost wish there was another chapter where they find out “heavycum” is real
Who wants to bet Peerless Cucumber has an entire fan base within the pidw’s fandom? Potentially even bringing in a portion of pidw’s readers who just want to enjoy shen yuan just loosing it in the comments.
Like sure, some of the fandom’s definitely there for the toxic masculinity and papapa, but I guarantee you there’s an entire section dedicated to gleefully watching the fandom sewer rat being feral.

My Ghost Roomie AU
An SVSSS Modern AU where a young aspiring writer with a pen name called Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky acquired a new apartment that has been warned to be haunted. He does not care for this since it's a big enough apartment with a strong internet connection and within budget from his small earnings as a writer. At first, he heeds the warnings and might have noticed a moving chair or a chill down his spine, but ultimately he's too broke to care. Until one day,
when he gets up from his seat to get himself some snacks from the fridge, he returns to a person with their eyes glued to his desktop's screen. 'I should really fix my sleep schedule. I'm starting to see things,' he thought.
He tried to blink it away - still there, even stepping out of the room for a second only to come back with the same picture. A dude with glasses, a plain shirt, pajamas, arms, and legs crossed with a scowl seemed fixated on the screen.
Besides the fact that there's just a whole dude in his apartment, he also appears to be… floating?
He thought to call the police or shout for help, but he's half sleep-deprived to think logically and half thinking is this real? Is this all real?
"Hello?" he asks. The ghost finally broke his stance with the screen and looked at Airplane, "Why is it just porn? Where is the plot?" He remarks.
"What?" he asks again,
"The first chapters were exceptional and promising, but we are almost ending the story, and there are still plot holes?"
Taken aback by this sudden criticism of his work, Airplane has always thought that critics are just people that have the power to cower behind their screens, therefore brave enough to post their arguments online. He never thought someone would actually say these words to his face. He thought people wanted to save their smug faces from consequences --- well, given that this 'person' is -
"A ghost," he finally exclaimed, "You're dead right and not just some fan or anti that just doxxed me to say these things to my face?"
"Dude, look at me," the ghost gestured, "I'm literally floating."
"I see that," he mumbles, "so you're the ghost that haunts this apartm - "
"Before you interrogate me, can you explain why you haven't filled the plot holes yet," the ghost pointed at the screen.
"Well, not that I need to explain to you about my writing process," he furrowed his eyebrows and crossed his arms in defense, "but ultimately, no one really cares about the plot, bro, I tried making one, but it made people bored," Airplane explained.
"So you threw out your integrity as a writer and just wrote papapa scenes?"
Airplane gasped, 'The audacity of a dead man!'
"Oi, it's still good! At least the main story is wrapped, and the 'plot holes,'" he air quoted, "Can just be something the audience can ponder. Give them a sense of freedom on how things will go," he smugly replied.
The ghost raised his eyebrow, unconvinced by this guy that seemed to be the type that squeaks like a hamster, "Sure, let's say that." The ghost looked back at the screen.
An awkward pause on the apparent sarcasm of this ghost, Airplane cleared his throat and asked again. "So you're the ghost that haunts this apartment, right? Did you die here?" he asked.
"I did"
"And?"
The ghost looked at Airplane again. "And? I died here and then became a ghost. What more do you want?"
"Like how did you die, did you become a ghost because of unfinished business, was this your home, what's your name, why did you kick out the previous tenants, how long have you been reading my work, why haven't you tried to possess or kill me, why did you show yourself to me, how old are you, when did you die –"
"Fucking hell shut up," he rudely interrupted. "I'll only answer what I know."
"Okay, go on."
The ghost sighs, "Yes, this was my home. I didn't like how people stayed here when I'm still living here."
'Living lol'
"I did bother you for the first few days, but you didn't seem to care and only focused on the screen, so I was curious to see. I don't know how you can see me, but I guess that's that."
"Huh," Airplane remarked, "that's all you know? Not even your name?"
"Ah, my name's Shen Yuan."
"Airplane," he reciprocated.
"Airplane? You want me to call you by your pen name?"
"Yeah, I mean, no offense, bro, but you're a ghost, and I don't know," he starts waving his arms around as he explains, "You might need my name to do ghost things like possessing me and stealing my body or something."
He stared at the man with a confused look, "Your story has rotten your judgment of ghosts," Shen Yuan noted.
Airplane laughs, "But anyway, does that mean you're my roomie? I never had a ghost for a roommate."
"There's a first for everyone,” he shrugged.
So it seems, a first of many.

I've also been having a hard time writing Liu Mingyan POV, but in trying to work it out, I got distracted thinking about an AU where LMY is also a transmigrator, who pre-death was a BNF in the PIDW fandom for writing BL fanfiction. I think it would be hilarious if SQQ, SQH, and LMY all discover their fellow transmigrators at the same time, and spend at least some of the abyss period getting drunk and arguing about PIDW (1/2)
(2/2) Most of the arguments stem from the fact that LMY wrote Luo Binghe/Mobei-Jun, surprisingly romantic, AU fanfic and SQQ and SQH feel the need to loudly explain why and to what degree she is incorrect about this (common arguments being "but they're straight!" and "they're too manly for that kind of soppy embarrassing romance trope!"). humiliatingly, LMY's fanfic turns out to be a better predictor of the SVSSS plot than PIDW was, and she never lets them forget it
Anon, Liu Mingyan as a transmigrator that SQH and SY both utterly failed to clock is a galaxy-brained concept. She was just trying to mind her own business and stay in her own lane, except the RPF fic she was using to entertain herself in the meanwhile got a little out of hand!
Honestly, PIDW Luo Binghe/Mobei-Jun is an extremely valid in-universe ship; your Transmigrator!LMY is extremely correct.
I’m currently picturing her just... casually completely deconstructing Luo Binghe and Mobei-Jun’s characters using several literary lenses - Doylist, Watsonian, feminist, queer, etc. - like a fucking fandom veteran. Like, yeah, reading into Mobei-Jun’s family backstory, he’s clearly got trust issues and romance-related issues, and he values loyalty and stability. And THEN there’s Luo Binghe with his abandonment issues and control issues and making sure that no one can ever hurt him again by making himself unavailable to his partners on a real level. And they’re both clearly extremely bored with their lives - no one can really challenge either of them anymore, there are no more worlds to conquer, they’ve finally reached the “safety” they’ve been striving for and now what?
And Airplane is at first like, “Yes! Yes, you get it!” And Shen Yuan is like, “Yes, we know this. This is known. Are you going somewhere with this?” And then Liu Mingyan swerves the conversation into: “Here’s is my extensive list of proof as to why these characters are GAY (or otherwise queer) AS FUCK.”
And she’s got arguments! She’s got arguments like a woman who has written many thousands of words of meta and fanfiction! Mobei-Jun never shows interest in Luo Binghe’s harem. Mobei-Jun’s most significant relationships are with other men, many of whom violently betrayed his trust. Luo Binghe’s love scenes totally read like someone acting out a script - Airplane was inconsistent on whether or not PIDW was a deconstruction of stallion novels, but Luo Binghe totally comes off as someone giving in to “obligatory heterosexuality” as he goes through hundreds of ultimately meaningless relationships, right? Luo Binghe’s most lasting obsession was with Shen Qingqiu, his enemy!
(Airplane: “...You’re not... ah, totally wrong.” *
Shen Yuan: “WHAT?”)
She’s a character analysis fan! That’s what she does! Unfortunately, most of Transmigrator!LMY’s advice to Shen Qingqiu on how to deal with Luo Binghe’s return is to apologize profusely and cry.
*(Airplane has to know that he’s not straight because 1) everything about his designing Mobei-Jun, 2) Airplane is relatively insightful, 3) Shen Yuan is bad enough and I can’t take it if they’re both like that.)

Hi! :) I was reading your post about SQH in TUT and it got me thinking. Since this version also wrote SVSSS, when he transmigrates does he realize his "dream" was real? Also, you hinted that he recognizes SY as the same person who transmigrated into SQQ, so now I'm wondering if he tells SY that, and how SY would react to learning he's the protagonist of SVSSS in another universe. I just love thinking about how meta this could potentially get, haha.
Can't wait to find out more! Keep up the good work!
(Follow-Up Post to: Part I, Part II)
@the-legend-of-chel 👏👏👏 Luv, good to see you in my Asks! I’m glad to hear that you’re looking forward to finding out more in The Untold Tale! And thanks for your support and encouragement. 💖
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(TUT ch1 - Excerpt)
You’re right. There is a lot of meta potential with older!Airplane Shooting Towards the Sky being the MXTX equivalent in this AU—or, rather, I like to imagine him growing up to be the Stephen King equivalent of modern day China with a prolific portfolio of written works (novels and short stories, and extras). In canon, he churned out a great number of words per chapter and in a speedy amount of time! Do you guys know how miraculous that is, as a writer? I envy him so much! To be able to churn out that much content in a short amount of time, and in a scheduled regimen, is amazing! That’s basically my angle having written this into the prologue of TUT. That’s partially the reason why I wrote ch1. I liked the idea of paying homage to SVSSS and saying that it’s an actual book series in TUT universe that Airplane wrote (as funny as the idea would be, I wasn’t about to let SY be the one to write it, lol, for intellectual property reasons since the PIDW characters belong to Airplane, which would necessitate SY changing names and character appearances if he published what we know as irl SVSSS, so the best I can give SY is saying he wrote his own PIDW fanfic which basically launched his novelist career because he’d realized, hey, I actually have a knack for writing and the ever so spiteful I feel like practically every writer has had this thought before: fine, if I don’t see what I want to read, then I’ll write it myself!)
Tumblr media
(TUT ch1 - Excerpt)
We’re approaching TUT spoiler territory so skip below if you don’t wish to be spoiled.
TUT (Meta) Spoilers
I personally love meta. If I’m to be writing a lovestory to SVSSS, there will be attempts at meta thrown into TUT. And this is one of them:
Airplane did “dream” about canon SVSSS. He basically “dreamt” about his favorite black powder fan, Peerless Cucumber
Tumblr media
changing events of Airplane’s biggest regret Proud Immortal Demon Way. (As a writer, it embarrasses me to read my old writing. So I imagine it could be the same for Airplane.) As an author, Airplane recognized what he dreamt had potential to be a commercial success as a danmei transmigration story so basically every time he woke up, he would write pieces of what he remembers in a dream journal when the memory was fresh in his brain. It also allowed Airplane the opportunity to show his readers through the perspective of SY! Shen Qingqiu what Airplane had originally wanted to write, but integrated in a way that blends seamlessly into the reading experience. He would’ve thought it was a bit weird and strange that his brain dreamt about his past critic—whom he’d considered a small celebrity in the PIDW forums back then—aka his anti-fan-turned-accomplished-novelist in the writing industry, so he felt embarrassed that his unconscious brain must have thought very highly of the man.
So Airplane omitted any mention of Peerless Cucumber from the final draft of SVSSS (if he mentioned both “Shen Yuan” and “Peerless Cucumber,” then even SY would be like, Hey, wait one moment....). This detail will be included in a later chapter, but did you know the name “Shen Yuan” has come up in other works? Let’s ignore the variations on the Chinese written characters for the name “Shen Yuan.” There was the evil older brother character Shen Yuan from The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage, a side character named Shen Yuan from a C-drama (I think he was an old minister?), and there’s even an irl visual artist named Shen Yuan. Shen Yuan (Shen Garden) is also a famous romantic garden in Shaoxing, known for the love story between Lu You and Tang Wan.
Tumblr media
(Shen Yuan Garden - Trip Advisor Review)
Basically “Shen Yuan” in itself is not a particularly uncommon name in China (imo I would not say it’s super popular either). So when SY saw his name mentioned once or twice in Airplane’s SVSSS—aka rebooted PIDW—during his read-through, he was like, Huh, what a strange coincidence. And then dismissed it as circumstantial and thought nothing of seeing his name come up in a cutsleeve novel as the new protagonist, haha. It’s like a book written by Anne Rice; one of the titles coincidentally has the same name as mine. Now, obviously the book and main character is not based or inspired by me; I just coincidentally share the same name. If I see books which have characters with my same first name, generally I like to read them and sometimes even collect them for my bookshelves. Because there’s something just so fun and interesting about seeing your own name in a fictional piece of work.
There’s also meta joke potential about Airplane dreaming of himself being transmigrated into the cannon fodder Shang Qinghua and seeing the romantic miscommunications between the younger version of himself (his self-insert essentially) and the fictional Mobei jūn character. I can certainly say seeing such dreams would make Airplane question his sexuality and awaken something dormant in him, haha. He’d realize he might not be not as straight as he thought he was, if his brain was capable of dreaming of SY!SQQ being crushed on by LBH, and SQH being crushed on by MBJ and essentially following MBJ around calling him “my king” this and “my king” that. He’ll be sweating bullets when he meets this world’s version of MBJ, because Airplane will definitely remember how the younger Self-Insert version of himself acted toward MBJ in the SVSSS world. (It’s the classic “Just because I dreamed about it happening doesn’t mean it’ll happen here, right? ...Right? Cucumber brother, you’re a fortuneteller! Please check our eight characters for me! I have to know my marriage compatibility with Mobei jūn!”)
In a later chapter, there will be the reveal where Airplane tells Shen Yuan that he “dreamt” of a universe where a younger version of Shen Yuan—having choked on mantou (馒头) (paying homage to the donghua) or just being transmigrated in general after raging at a younger ASTTS’s writing (paying homage to the books)—transmigrated into the Shen Qingqiu we know from SVSSS who married Bing mèi. Because I think it will be hilarious when TUT’s SY finds out about the true source of Airplane’s inspiration, and he’ll naturally freak out over the fact that this is the very same Bing gē from Airplane’s Bing-gē vs Bing-mèi extra and that he’s essentially somehow stumbled on the same path as the alternative younger SY!SQQ “from Airplane’s imagination.” I will leave this open to interpretation if this does show up (it’s just an idea I’m playing with) but I might hint that there might be a higher power at play which allowed Airplane a peek into another universe—which manifested as his dreams.
I very much like this dynamic (we might see this exchange, verbatim, in a future chapter in TUT):
SY/ LBH —> He gave him a disdainful gaze.
Airplane cried inwardly at the oppression and the feeling of being wronged.
Haha, none of this is really Airplane’s fault^ though. It’s a fun parallel and if I’m still motivated when we get to the wedding and consummation chapter, we might see an epilogue where SY and Bing gē from TUT meets SY!SQQ and Bing mèi maybe. Because I think it’ll be funny with the two LBHs getting into a shouting/ fighting match about who has the “superior Shen Yuan” while the two SYs just shake their heads at their silly husbands (and potentially TUT’s SY, as the older party, can impart his fortunetelling wisdom and advice to SY!SQQ).
Personally I can’t wait when we get to those chapters, because I know it’ll be entertaining to write, haha. Personally TUT is a fun project because there’s just so much meta potential that can be incorporated and I have a lot of fun imagining the scenarios.
*Note: like always, keep in mind that these are just my current thoughts. Details are subject to change; things aren’t considered official until they show up in the final draft on AO3. :)
The Novelists’ First Impressions
The first impression SY and Airplane will have of each other will be fun. Because in their perspective, written in my notes it’s essentially like:
(Airplane seeing SY):
His first reaction was shock. Shock because the mere mortal he used to be could not conceive so much charisma being emitted by this guy.
This is definitely a man who had put all of his stats into CHARISMA.
(SY seeing Airplane):
He's suspiciously good looking in ways that normal people are not.
Ah, the Cucumberplane friendship in TUT is going to be so much fun. Not only are these two older souls who transmigrated (both are mid-aged in this universe), they’re both accomplished novelists in their own right in the writing industry. Which means with these two being celestial beings, there’s so many clichés we can playfully poke fun at.
It also makes me laugh because imagine being SY, and seeing a guy (mortal!Airplane) who exudes the same energy as these two imperial princes GIFs:
