yell us about the gaurdians like everything the chaws their mentors everything
The Guardians of the Ga'Hoole Tree are/were the Hamato Clan in this AU. The last of their kind, with the Foot Clan (the AU's version of the Pure Ones of St. Aggies. But like.. with more Foot Clan values instead of Barn Owl Supremacy lmao) dwindling out before being restarted by the Shredder.
The Chaws were/are similar to those shown in the books and the movie, with some added spirituality because Splinter was clearly a spiritual person in canon, along with some HEAVY martial arts inspo for the fighting.
The backstory for the Hamatos and the Foot are essentially the same in this AU compared to TMNT 2012 canon; with the Hamatos (Guardians) going to war with the ~eeevvillll~ Foot, defeating them, Splinter's father adopting the now orphaned Oroku Saki, Saki learning of his true heritage and restarting the Foot, Tang Shen enterring her Roxanne arc, warrior cats fire scene but with Shredder, Splints, and Tang Shen...
THE TREE BURNS DOWN. Splinter is forced to leave his home, believing his entire family/clan (including his daughter Miwa) is DEAD. Typical Tuesday morning ngl. Thanks Saki!
A few months to a year later, Splinter rescues four orphaned oriental scops owls, and becomes their mentor/father. He teaches them the same lessons this AU's Ga'hoole Chaws wouldve taught them (with the exception of colliering and blacksmithing), much like how the canonical Splinter taught them ninjutsu while raising them. They still arent allowed to leave the nest tho since Splinter's fairly overprotective in this AU (understandably).
Still deciding what kind of owls Splinter, Karai/Miwa, and Tang Shen should be but the Shredder is the Ural Owl

These lads are MASSIVE (20-25 inches in height, wingspan is 3.7ft - 4.5ft depending on species and sex. 8th largest owl in the world iirc?)
For comparison, oriental scops owls are 6-8 inches tall. Yall ready to see this MASSIVE evil dude fling babies around like barbie dolls or what?
I know I went kinda off topic but the Guardians are essentially wiped out for most of the story lol, not much to talk in regards to mentors or students cuz Splints and the Owl-ified Turtles are all that's left 🏃♂️💨

Cupcake, shampoo, and cuddles (and if you do, please include photos of them)?
Cupcake: Are you a good cook?
>Well damn I'd like to think I am. Definitely when I'm just cooking for me, sometimes also when for just one other person. But if you ask me to cook for any more people than that, best I can do is soup 😅
Shampoo: Favorite scent?
>Lavender, rose, petrichor, conifer wood/sap, vanilla, freshly baked bread, and the smell of a horse barn.
Cuddles: Any pets?
>Yah!!! I've got two rabbits, Blackavar and Argentum (Aggie), a cat named Catra, and technically also a dog named Cappuccino (Chino) but legally he's my parents' dog.

Caught in a Wave (1/5)
Chapter Summary: Your boss makes an announcement.
Pairing: Bucky Barnes x fem!Reader
Warnings: None
The office is teeming with activity when you walk in, murmurs rising from above cubicles, bodies bouncing from one end of the office to the other like pinballs. Glancing around, you spot Wanda grinning broadly at another coworker, Aggie, until her eyes find you. She waves you over excitedly, and you can’t help but smile, her excitement infectious.
“Hey Wan, what’s going on?”
“Rumor has it the boss has a big announcement for us all!” she chirps. She’s bouncing on her toes.
“Really? What do you think it could be? Raises for everyone?” you reply, only half-joking. Wanda snorts.
“Hopefully. My rent just went up. I could use the extra money.”
You giggle, and before you can say anything else, your boss, Maria Hill, steps into the office. She’s clad in a custom-tailored pantsuit, head held high like the regal businesswoman she is. Conversation screeches to a halt as she surveys the office, the corner of her red-painted lips curling upwards just a tick.
“I suppose you’ve all heard some kind of rumor through the grapevine,” she begins. “I’ve heard some outrageous ones myself. You’re all getting raises, half of you are being promoted, and my personal favorite, we’re getting an office dog. Those rumors are, regrettably, untrue.”
There’s a small lull of disappointment that makes her smirk widen.
“However, I do have some news and I’m sure all of you will forget all about the office dog. Our biggest client, Stark Industries, is so grateful for all of our work over the past two years that they’ve offered us an office-wide vacation at no expense to us.”
She’s drowned out by the cheers of her employees, but a hand in the air brings the silence back.
“We’ll be heading to Oahu, Hawaii in about three weeks for a one-week stay at Tony Stark’s hotel. I expect all of you to be on your best behavior while we’re there, of course, but I want all of you to have fun, relax. You all deserve it. I’ll be sending over all of your flight and hotel details by next week. Congratulations, everyone.”
She smiles to a cacophony of cheers, high fives, and whoops. You happily join in the celebration with the rest. You haven’t had a vacation in years, and never did you think you’d go to Hawaii. You’re elated, laughing loudly when Wanda grabs your hands and dances in a circle with you.
The following week, you receive Maria’s email with all the details of your trip, and Wanda drags you out shopping the week before you’re set to leave for some new summer wear. You buy a new pair of sandals, two swimsuits, a coverup, and a pair of cutoff shorts with a pretty top. For good measure, Wanda shoves a pair of aviator sunglasses into your hands as well.
You spend the rest of the week finding a sitter for your cat, overpacking then unpacking and then repacking your bags, and getting next to no sleep the day before your flight. You’re exhausted when Wanda rings your doorbell at 5 AM that morning, but it does nothing to quell the excitement buzzing inside you.
She hands you a cup of steaming coffee and helps you brings your bags down to the waiting taxi. Despite the early hour, she’s just as excited as you are and can’t stop talking the entire ride to the airport.
The rest of your coworkers are gathered at the doorway, dressed in their vacation-wear, as is, to your surprise, Maria. You’re not used to seeing her in anything less than professional, but right now she’s donning a pair of boyfriend jeans, a striped top, and wedge sandals looking every bit ready for a vacation.
She greets the two of you when you walk up, further surprising you by leaning over for a quick hug.
“You both have your tickets right?” she questions. Wanda and you nod with excited smiles, waving your tickets as proof. “Great! Okay, we’re waiting on two more I think, and then we’re good!”
Once you’re on the flight, your nerves set in. You’ve never been a fan of flying, but you busy yourself with a watered-down Jack and Coke and get pulled into a discussion of scuba diving with the two people sitting in front of you. Wanda reads beside you, pausing only when the nose of the plane tips upward in take off, and then she’s sucked back in.
You decide to doze off for a bit when the conversation comes to a lull, and before you know it Wanda’s jostling you awake. It’s a slow process, getting off the plane, but the view that greets you is so worth it. Crystal blue waters, pale sandy beaches, and Stark’s hotel rising above the palm trees in the distance.
“Wow,” you breathe, eyes wide as you take it all in. Beside you, Wanda is grinning and she squeaks a little, no doubt ready to start exploring.
This vacation is going to be exactly what you need.
to be continued...

weekend recap: 09.27.2020
this weekend has been a little bit full of highs.
~harry potter cross stitch
the ravenclaw crest cross stitch that i started at the beginning of quarantine has finally been finished, framed, and hung! i’m so insanely proud of myself for getting this done - i’ve been wanting to decorate my grad pad for so long and it’s awesome to see something i’ve finished on my wall. it was the first more complicated cross stitch project that i’ve finished, and there’s quite a few things i’ve learned throughout the process. most importantly, the size of your fabric should always be a decent bit bigger than your finished project!! i completely didn’t think about how fabric - especially aida, frays around the edges and i only had a FIVE square count margin on the far right side of my project. i did some quick thinking and some googling, and got inspiration from a video someone did about making their crest into a patch. my fabric stash yielded a bit of interfacing and i got to work manning my iron while keeping an eye on my curious kitties. no one’s paws got burned, and as long as you don’t look too closely you wouldn’t know i didn’t use a big enough piece of aida for my project!
i also got to try another thing i’ve been wanting to with this project - using a float frame. since i even heard of them, i always thought they were beautiful, but seeing it in use on my wall is even better!! i’m actually glad my apartment’s front room is not painted white like the rest of my walls because it somehow makes my work look even better. i’m like. never ever going to get normal frames ever again.
framed project on the wall, a Stella cat for scale

~ the biscotti files: issue three
quarantine has brought me a barn (lol check that reference) and a half of motivation to really finally attempt to make things that i’ve never been able to eat before -thanks food allergies. one of these things was biscotti. i’ve been playing with a great base recipe from king arthur’s flour for their vanilla american style biscotti. thanks to my lavender and earl grey obsession, i knew what i wanted to experiment with when adding flavors. this time, it was 2 tbsp of adagio’s bella luna (which, sidebar: i got because it’s pretty close to my baby girl’s name) and 1 tbsp of lavender. it’s absolutely beautiful! you can get the flavor of both without it being too overpowering. each time i make a new batch, i’ve been adding a bit more of both to see how far i can go before it becomes overpowering. but we’ve had far too much biscotti in the past few weeks. i think it’s time i try to make a new type of cookie soon...
~ new year’s resolution - achieved!
one of the things i put on my to-do list for the year was that i wanted to try and make a wearable item of clothing, and my dudes, i think i’ve done it! it’s a very simple full circle skirt, out of some fabric that i bought originally to make more facemasks but then decided that three per member of my household was good enough, seeing as we only go outside maybe once or twice a week to pickup groceries curbside. i tried my best to include a pocket but there was some messy stuff going on with how it was laying so that’s an improvement to make for next time. i also didn’t want to mess with zippers due to my fluctuating quarantine waistline so i made the skirt a tie on and i think it’s a win! don’t look too close at the hem, and hopefully the wind isn’t too crazy (though this is texas the land of endless summer, so that shouldn’t be an issue) but maybe one day this skirt will live a life outside my apartment!
please excuse the outfit; this was a test fit and not a styled image. and it was game day so i had to continue supporting my aggies. even though i’m not sure i support the fact that college sports are still a thing right now.
skirt finished, messy but done!!

anyhoo, i’m excited to keep making and hopefully the next project will be even better and more wearable! shout out to the historical/other sewing community for inspiring me to “just do the thing” and jump!
and jump i did. now if only i could get this same level of inspiration for my thesis....tomorrow’s monday so it’s time to get chugging!

Three games left, how can this shake out?
Tomorrow marks the biggest day in conference play during the 2019-202 SEC basketball season. We very well could see the regular season championship decided for all intents and purposes at Rupp Arena tomorrow afternoon.
Auburn takes on Kentucky as the only team with a real shot at catching the Wildcats in the race for the conference crown. Here’s the situation for the Tigers to capture a third consecutive SEC title....
Auburn sits at 11-4 in the league, while Kentucky’s 13-2. Two-game swing, with Auburn owning the tiebreaker right now. The road for Bruce Pearl’s guys is simple, but they don’t control their own destiny. Here’s what we need —
A 3-0 finish to the year. That’s imperative. Auburn has to beat Kentucky, Texas A&M, and Tennessee. It’s possible for Auburn to still win the league with a 2-1 finish, but that means you have to beat Kentucky and hope the Cats lose out. They’ve got to play at Florida, so another loss is definitely on the table. An 0-3 finish? Unlikely.
If we do finish 3-0 on the year, we’d end the season at 14-4. Kentucky has to finish 1-2. One of those losses needs to come to us. If Kentucky beats us tomorrow, they win the SEC and guarantee the 1-seed in Nashville (NOT LIKE THAT MATTERS)
We’re doubling up today for Auburn’s biggest basketball rival. From the @__Austinwiley50 block, to the @Therealvinoo pass and then the @Bwb_2 three, this sequence should always be remembered pic.twitter.com/HrSwtfpYlR
— Jacob Hillman (@Jacob_Hillman3) February 22, 2020
Anyway, that’s pretty much it. With only three games left, the scenarios are fairly limited.
So what’s going to happen with everything behind Auburn? Well, let’s dive in.
CURRENT CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT SEEDING
If the tournament began today, here’s the seeding:
Kentucky
Auburn
Florida
LSU
Mississippi State
South Carolina
Texas A&M
Tennessee
Alabama
Arkansas
Missouri
Georgia
Ole Miss
Vanderbilt
Vanderbilt’s locked in to the 14-seed. They’re three games back of both Georgia and Ole Miss, and they have no tiebreaker over either. They will play Ole Miss tomorrow, but they’d have to win out to avoid the bottom seed, and that’s unlikely.
Here are the matchups everywhere else if the standings stay the same:
Day 1 - #14 Vanderbilt vs #11 Missouri
Day 1 - #12 Georgia vs #13 Ole Miss
Day 2 - #8 Tennessee vs #9 Alabama
Day 2 - #5 Mississippi State vs Vandy/Missouri Winner
Day 2 - #7 Texas A&M vs #10 Arkansas
Day 2 - #6 South Carolina vs Georgia/Ole Miss Winner
Day 3 - #1 Kentucky vs Tennessee/Alabama Winner
Day 3 - #4 LSU vs TBD
Day 3 - #2 Auburn vs A&M/Missouri Winner
Day 3 - #3 Florida vs TBD
It gets a little wild with the possibilities once you hit Nashville, so maybe the best course of action is to plot out who Auburn would like to face. Obviously, you’d like the Tigers to get the 1-seed, but then that might turn out with us facing off against a primed Alabama team in Nashville. The last time that happened, it wasn’t good for us, and we got blitzed.
However, we might also get to play Tennessee. That would be hilarious, because Rick Barnes has no idea what to do against a fully operational Bruce Pearl. I believe it’s been three (?) years since the Vols beat Auburn? Bruce just keeps getting the best of Ricky. Still, facing the Vols or Tide might be an unlikely scenario since we have to win the regular season and that’s not in our control. So, let’s assume we get the 2-seed. We’re a game up on LSU and Florida, so let’s just assume they can’t make up two games in the final three.
That means we play the winner of Missouri and Texas A&M. Eh. I don’t want to play a hot Aggie team with Buzz Williams doing some ace coaching, and I don’t want to play Missouri, even though we know they’re not going to hit 65% of their threes again (not an overestimation). Maybe we’d get the Missouri that hits like 7% of its threes. Dare to dream.
If we got through that, then it would likely be Florida again, unless South Carolina upsets them. Hey, we beat BOTH of those teams last year on the way to the SEC Championship. We made Florida super mad, and now the Gamecocks don’t have a goliath in Chris Silva. On a neutral floor, we can probably handle both of those groups again.
Did I just write all of this to say that the spot where we currently sit might not be that bad? Possibly. However, getting the top seed would likely get us a spot in the half of the bracket where we’re a combined 7-2 against the rest of the participants. Let’s shoot for that, and let’s just beat Kentucky tomorrow.
Shouldn’t be tough. We’ve gotten two straight over those guys.

There are few who love Ole Miss as much as I do. Having gotten this out of the way and setting any bias aside, the following projections are based simply on reality, gut instincts and a 54 year history following Rebel football. Here we go…..
Game 1: South Alabama
Don’t expect an MSU upset here like the one that occurred in 2016. That being the Jaguars’ first SEC win. Having lost all their primary receivers and picked seventh in the Sun Belt, Ole Miss will flex its muscles against a run oriented squad. It will get late early for South Alabama as Ole Miss runs up a “huge” score 48-7.
Game 2: UT Martin
Expect the Rebs to end this contest 2-0, although the Skyhawks (picked third in the OVC) could be a stubborn foe returning their top five tacklers. Coming off a respectable 7-5 (6-2 conference) season, UT Martin can play with the Rebs possibly for a half. Ole Miss 35-14.
Game 3: At California
Probably the worst team in the PAC 12, the Golden Bears are looking for respectability coming off a 5-7 2016 worksheet. Their five year scorecard is 22-39, not one to lose a great deal of sleep over. Opening on the road versus NC, this should be a sound indicator of things to come. If the Rebs struggle here, expect few (if any) road wins this season. Ole Miss 27-14.
Game 4: At Alabama
Circle September 30th as the date that the season begins. Picked again by some to win the national championship, Bama opens their schedule in a state of mind with Florida State, Fresno State and Colorado State preceding their 9/23 matchup in Nashville. Ole Miss has two weeks to prepare which is always a plus. Not sensing an upset here….Bama rolls 35-17.
Game 5: At Auburn
The Tigers are forecast a Top Twenty team and meeting them on the road is anything but a welcome sight. Try adding up Reb road wins there over the last half century. The counting will end quickly! Playing MSU the week prior to the Rebels could shed some light here, but expect darkness to prevail on the Plains. Auburn 31-10.
Game 6: Vanderbilt
What an opportunity for revenge following the three TD embarrassment last season in Nashville. Picked again last in the East, Ole Miss should dominate start to finish. However, Vandy is looking to Oxford as its best chance for an SEC road win with FL; SC and TN being the other three. Ole Miss will conclude midseason 4-2 with a 35-14 victory over the Dores.
Game 7: LSU
Have NO doubt, this will be the defining game of the 2017 season for the Rebels. Facing a Top Ten preseason team, LSU will in all likelihood arrive in Oxford 7-0 although a road game Oct. 7 in Gainesville and the following week hosting Auburn will surely test the Bengals. It will take everything in the Reb arsenal plus a great deal of luck to win this one. And luck trumps skill every time. Ole Miss to go 5-2 with a 27-24 upset.
Game 8: Arkansas
Ouch! This one (once again) will be a tall order following LSU. The Hogs are deep and are usually confident against Ole Miss and why shouldn’t they be? Picked ahead of the Rebs in the West by the experts, the schedule slightly favors. Ole Miss, however, as the Hogs face AL and Auburn the two weeks prior and the contest is in Oxford. As Ringo once sang, “It Don’t Come Easy” and this one could be another OT Nailbiter. Without a bowl to anticipate, the Rebs could reach into their inner strength and take this one 31-28. (6-2 after the first 8 games, not bad by anyone’s critique.)
Game 9: At Kentucky
This game will seem like a scrimmage after the previous two and the Cats should be down somewhat having faced the TN Vols the week prior. Having scheduled Louisville as the season finale instead of Tennessee which Kentucky had as its opponent forever, the schedule now seems a little strange. The Cats were the surprise of 2016 finishing in a tie for second in the East by winning three conference road games. Expect another stressful outing with this time the opponent coming out on top 24-21. The record now stands at 6-3.
Game 10: Louisiana
The Ragin Cajuns coming off a 6-7 season are forecast to end up #6 in the Sun Belt. And having lost to USM in the New Orleans Bowl, they are suspect at best. This is a week for Ole Miss to get well, running up a big score. The Cajuns’ running game took a big hit to graduation and the QB position is unsettled beginning the season, although this will be their ninth game. Ole Miss 49-7 running the scorecard to 7-3.
Game 11: Texas A&M
Having signed the nation’s number 12 recruiting class (OM was 30th), the Rebs could be seeing a few new faces in this one. Expect the Aggies to attempt to run the ball often and long as their returning ground game is impressive. The squeaker the Rebs pulled out last year (29-28) on the road should be a confidence builder. Anticipate another barn burner with Ole Miss topping A&M 28-24 going to 8-3.
Game 12: The Egg Bowl in Starkville.
The only thing needed to inspire the Rebels is last season’s drubbing, 55-20, in Oxford. The most humiliating loss ever in Oxford in 100 years….so what else needs to be said? If Ole Miss stays focused, this should end up being the easiest conference game of the year. Looking into the crystal ball, the score 37-17 appears with the only Reb road victory coming in the league this season.
There you have it….a 9-3 final season tally with a great deal of excitement and intrigue along the way. With so many uncertainties including the NCAA, injuries and momentum (or lack thereof) by opponents, this forecast could just as easily contain 3-4 fewer wins. And I am operating under the assumption that we have SEC depth this year at each and every position which we did not possess in 2016. The four nonconference games should all be W’s; defeating Vanderbilt here is not a tall order and expect 1-2 upsets going our way. Therefore a minimum of six or seven wins is definitely in the cards. Hotty Toddy and hoping for the best!
