So I've finally finished Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and not only did I enjoy the last three seasons way more than I thought I would, but I was not prepared for how delightfully unhinged the show became. Some of my favourite plot points included:
The female protagonist has a long-lost sister with superpowers who becomes the key to the entire crew returning to their original timeline through the Quantum Realm. Said long-lost sister is not introduced or even hinted at until the last five episodes of the entire show.
Half of one season takes place in a dystopian 2091 where the young twenty-something scientist couple not only meet their grandson who is the same age as them but said grandson returns to the present, becomes a series regular, and calls them "Nana" and "Bobo" in some Once Upon A Time worthy family tree shenanigans. Oh he also gets stuck in the 80s and claims he wrote Don't You (Forget About Me)
Phil Coulson dies in Season 5 because in order to stop an evil AI -turned-human-turned evil because she got dumped by a small Scottish man he has to become Ghostrider. The entire season builds up to this in a way that makes it feel very much like the actor is stepping away from the show and retiring the character, only for them to cast Clarke Gregg as an evil deity from another dimension in Season 6 and as a Life Model Decoy that may as well just be Phil Coulson in Season 7
Patton Oswalt plays multiple identical characters who all work for SHIELD. This is never fully explained.
“Mata Hari Calamari”
The final season is a decade-hopping gimmick with matching genre episodes that beat WandaVision to the punch
One character is a robot anthropologist who just wants to be best friends with the same small Scottish man. He has canonically been trained to perform in alien brothels and eventually becomes a bartender in the Crazy Canoe in 1955. He is one of the absolute best parts of the show.
One plot line follows said same Scottish Man and robot anthropologist as they get stranded in outer space with their only way home being to gamble in an alien casino while their friends attempt to rescue them but accidentally take LSD instead
"I found that bluffing was much easier if you kill someone and take their skin."
Area 51 is canonically a SHIELD base

I’m sorry, was no one going to tell me that Deke is FitzSimmons GRANDSON or did I have to watch season 3 episode 12 myself.
I’m pretty used to knowing a lot of twists going into shows, especially if they’ve been out for a while. I knew about Ward, I even knew about the Jiaying thing.
It feels really good to be surprised by a show again.
Does that mean he’ll disappear if/when they avert the destruction of earth.

Can you write Grant Ward with a (gn!)reader in Coulson's team who's a ball of sunshine and just basically the opposite of him as a crush or a s/o? Either pre or post betrayal Ward (or both) whichever you want :) Thanks !!
Grant Ward x GN!Reader
A/N: I am so excited to write for Grant! Feel free to send in as many requests as you like! Also, remember that when requesting no spoilers for Season three+
Summary: Grant dating a ball of sunshine.
"Morning love," you said as you wrapped your arms around your boyfriend's waist. He let a small smile grace his lips as he felt your warmth.
"Good morning sweetheart," he replies, turning you around so he could give you a proper hug.
He pressed a kiss to your lips before pulling away. Pda in common areas with the team was quite rare. It didn't matter that the base was nearly empty. Everyone was either on a mission or doing some form of work around here.
"You have anything to do?" You asked Grant with a smile.
He loves your smile. It was so happy. When you smiled a room would literally light up.
"Coulson doesn't have me doing anything until after the rest of the team gets back from Moscow," grant says and you smile before leading him back to the bedroom.
"I take that as you can stay in bed all day," you say with a smile. Grant let's out a small chuckle at your words. In the back of his mind he kind of knew this was how his day would be. He secretly loved it.
"Yn, only another hour. Just one, I need to work on-," grants protests were interrupted by you.
"Work, work, work. That's all you ever do," you complain and Grant groans before realizing he's not going to be able to say no.
"Fine," he grumbles as you lead him to the bedroom.
You climb into bed and he does to. He wraps his arms around you and snuggles his head into your neck.
This was how the both of you loved spending time. Being with the other was the only thing that mattered.
Spending time with the rest of the team was great but no one could compare to Grant. He was, simply put, the best person you had ever met.
He felt the same way about you

One thing that always hurts me when I think about it and sadly, I think about it a lot is how Ward's and Fitz's stories parallel each other.
How in the series Ward is this damaged guy with horrible upbringing, and a mentor, who is literally working for Nazi organization. And Fitz is this incredibly smart guy that's working for s.h.i.e.l.d and is all innocent and stuff.
And in Framework at they are total opposites of themselves, but also they are the same as the other. So, Fitz has this mentor, his father that is obviously a horrible human being. That is influencing Fitz to become a monster and Ward has Victoria Hand as mentor and is on the right track with morals and humanity in him.
And also the way their deaths parallel each other is very interesting.
Because when Ward dies on Maveth he becomes a vessel that brings death to the world and when Fitz dies in season 5 he's literally changing history and saving the future that they came back from, where Earth is destroyed.
So, yeah, I just think about it a lot, and it makes me sad. So now you have to think about it too.

If I had a nickel for every time one of my favourite fictional characters had a boyfriend named Lincoln that died tragically (which in turn changed the character forever/left them broken), I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice, right?

If I had a cap for every time that Kyle McLachlan, in a big budget tv show for a major franchise, plays a overtly caring father that turns out to have become a mass murderer who still believes himself to have been doing the right thing to protect his family, and also kills his wife who he loves very much;
to a fan favourite female protagonist that has traumatic family secrets with major impact on the story, a very very very old parent, and a hodgepodge group of allies to take him down with, I would have 2 caps but it’s weird that it happened twice…

although I found out Ward was Hydra a few episodes into S1 (through tumblr because I like to look at posts about the shows & movies I watch 🧎🏾‍♀️) actually seeing how it happened and everything go down wasn’t really the problem for me. what broke me was seeing Fitz breakdown after finding out someone he cared for betrayed him in such a deceiving way.
I just thought back to season 1 episode 7 and how they protected each other during their mission and it’s almost (almost!) like it was all for nothing :’) I get Ward still cares for all of them in some way, but he was so caught up in pleasing and following Garrett around that he broke real relationships.

leo fitz propaganda masterpost! i’ll update after each round
[ID: white slide with a picture of leo fitz on the right. on the left read 2 text boxes. the first one says, "#if see this please vote for my boy fitz i'l' give you reasons i promise #but look at that bi lighting. cmon." the second one says, "I’m so very normal about him. He is doing his best. Wasn’t really insane until the alternate reality arc and his dissociation in s5 where he acted in the interests of his (“evil”) alternate reality self. Canon really tried to make him a villain but he’s a good boy actually." /End ID.]
