Poirot (1989) The Adventure of the Cheap Flat

Poirot finds himself working on two cases, the first of which is more of an amusement, or so it seems. After meeting a delightful young couple, Stella and James Robinson, at a party he sets out to prove to Captain Hastings that there must be a reason for their good fortune in getting a lovely flat at a ridiculously low price. He is also brought into a more formal investigation by Inspector Japp who is hosting a loud-mouthed American FBI Agent who is on the trail of thieves who have made away with secret US Naval plans for a new submarine. The American isn't too impressed that Scotland Yard have brought in a private detective or that Japp has taken away his gun. When Poirot sees the man the FBI is trailing, he also realizes it's the same man who he has seen lurking outside the Robinsons apartment block.

So when I first saw the live action one piece news I thought it was a joke or a meme, cause I saw it here first. Then I saw it on movie news page that I follow thats usually accurate, then I saw the casting list:

The cast for the series includes Iñaki Godoy (Who Killed Sara?) as Monkey D. Luffy., Mackenyu (Pacific Rim: Uprising) as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd (Fear Street) as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson (Greenleaf) as Usopp and Taz Skylar (Agatha Raisin) as Sanji.

Had to look up these actors, mostly because I'm not good with names but great with faces, to see if I regonised any of them and nope. But after I did, for how the actors look I would say swap the actors for Zoro and Sanji around cause Taz looks a bit like Zoro just need to dye his hair green and Mackenyu looks like he would suit Sanji more.

But personally I don't think One Piece needs a live action series or movie, but like all live action adaptions I'll wait for the trailer and then I'll make my call on it

Vegan Cupcakes

So I had an ask a few weeks ago about if I planned to post any recipes from Wayward Son. The answer was definitely yes but I intend to work through a whole lot more food from Carry On first, before I begin to tackle Wayward Son. 

That being said I had reason to make cupcakes recently and I decided why not tackle the vegan ones from Wayward Son, if I was going to be making cupcakes anyway? Fast forward to today, just before I sat down to post this recipe, and found an ask about vegan recipes in my inbox. So you both get your wish, in a way--a vegan recipe from Wayward Son. Recipe from Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World by Isa Chandra Moskowitz and Terry Hope Romero and the Post Punk Kitchen website

Ingredients:

Cupcakes (makes 12)

1 cup soy (or coconut milk--I used coconut milk because that’s what I had)

1 tsp apple cider vinegar

3/4 cup granulated sugar

1/3 cup canola oil

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon almond extract, chocolate extract or vanilla extract (I used more vanilla)

1 cup all purpose flour

1/3 cup cocoa powder, Dutch-processed or regular

3/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

Method:

Preheat oven to 350F and line muffin pan with paper cupcake liners

Whisk together the milk and vinegar in a large bowl. Set aside for a few moments to curdle. 

Add the sugar, oil, vanilla and other extracts (if you are using anything other than vanilla) to the milk mixture and beat until foamy.

In a separate bowl sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder and salt.

Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and beat until no large lumps remain (tiny lumps are ok)

Pour into liners--I use an ice cream scoop for this--filing 3/4 full

Bake for 18-20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.  Put on rack and cool completely

Make frosting while cupcakes are cooling.

Frosting:

Ingredients:

1/2 cup non hydrogenated vegan shortening (I just used margarine for this too since I didn’t have shortening)

1/2 cup non hydrogenated margarine

3 1/2  cups confectioner’s sugar, sifted

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla

1/4 cup soy milk or soy creamer (I use coconut creamer)

Method:

Beat the margarine and shortening (or just the margarine if that’s all you’re using, iike me) until well combined and fluffy.

Add the sugar and beat for about 3 minutes

Add the vanilla and soy milk, beat for another 5 to 7 minutes until very fluffy.

Pipe onto completely cooled cupcakes. You can drizzle with chocolate sauce, if desired. 

These were gone in less than 12 hours in my house. All 12 of them.
