Gruau's trademark, the letter G crowned with a star, bas become a part of our collective memory. It has marked many memorable images: a spiritual set of lips just waiting to be kissed, a sublime pair of legs emerging from a cloud of feathers, arms that stretch out invitingly, splendidly expressive eyes like bottomless pools. Gruau's famous, emblematic images are at the core of twentieth-century advertising art. An autodidact thoroughly familiar with classical painting and graphic art, Gruau drew on the work of the great artists and illustrators of the nineteenth century in order to create his own unique style. In short, his work represents an admirable graphic synthesis. The purity of his line recalls Oriental calligraphy, while his chic, saucy women, always in motion, are an international symbol of elegance. He has been the creative force behind Dior perfume ads since 1947. For over 50 years he has reinvented the dancehall poster for the Moulin Rouge and the Lido. Still a working professional at 90 years old, Gruau symbolizes both the heritage of nineteenth-century modernism.

Casually drops Hazbin Hotel redesign art here
Chalice
Tumblr media
Charlie's design was pretty nice in the show, but I wanted her to look more like a owner of the hotel. With a little bit of royalty to it too since she doesn't look like the princess of Hell. I also decided to make her a goat since I heard from my friends she was supposed to be based around that.
Valerie
Tumblr media
Vaggie was a bit tricky since I didn't know what to change. I know I wanted her to look more mothlike but also look like Charlie's assistant in the hotel. I decided to make her more purple like in her pilot design, giving her extra arms and lil cute moth antennas.
Nifty
Tumblr media
Nifty's wasn't as hard as Vaggie's, but I also didn't see the point of changing her colors since admitting I like them. So I changed her design to be more housewife like to give her an actual 50s feel. Ik she already had one but it didn't match her nature.
Alastor
Tumblr media
Alastor was something I thought would be difficult but it surprisingly wasn't. For him I wanted him to be a deer still, but be more animalistic looking. I also tried to lean more towards brownish red to his colors and making his anglers a littlw bigger.
And that's all for now!
