I finally beat up my procrastination a little bit to beat Pokemon Violet and something something "Reader being an assistant or acquaintance of Professor Turo and after he dies you find out he had all these fucked up feelings/obsessions for you that he could just hide extremely well but they're now passed on to his robot, who no longer has to share you with the real one, and also AI Turo could definitely give himself a robot dick or maybe Real Turo was so narcissistic he was literally occasionally fucking himself anyways" send post

ngl while it's good that people are becoming more wary of new technologies and would rather take their time with integrating it into their daily lives I do fear that the climate of tumblr is turning many people into technophobes

My niche, funny problem in this fandom is the times when there's a universal discussion going on about Artificial Intelligence and even little fandom blogs weigh in with their posts & reblogs - and almost every time I just sit there, extra confused before I finally realize that we're not all just suddenly bashing on Al (ex Turner) for stealing our jobs and starting a war on creativity itself.

sucks how sci-fi movies that take place close to the year we’re in imagine technology to be much cooler than it actually is in 2024

Small post on my take on AI
Unfortunately, because of how AI has been taken advantage of by large corporations to cut costs, there's a very unhealthy discontent amongst creators and workers with AI.
The fact is that AI will continue to be a part of our lives for the rest of human history, most likely. And that's not a bad thing as it's already in more things than you can imagine, and it's changed how we do things for the better to be completely honest.
With the advancement of AI comes the ability to make people's lives easier. It should be used to help us with/do the boring and mundane tasks so that we can focus on enjoying our time on this earth. However, there definitely needs to be new laws put into place to regulate what AI can and can not be used for.
For example. The shitshow that was Marvel blatantly and openly admitting to using AI art in their trailer for Secret Invasion. I don't care that it's symbolic. It took jobs away from artists just so they could cut corners and not have to pay for it. Just because humans are being replaced in the movie doesn't mean we should do the same irl. Like seriously, learn to separate fiction from reality.
That being said, AI creative works like art and writings should never be used as final products unless they are for personal use only. Rather, they should be used as references and inspiration for creators to expand their horizon or work on new projects. Once again, reference, not final products.
Having said that, yes, AI would have to scoop the internet to continue evolving. The fact of the matter is that AI can't get better without references. However, consent is still important. If a creator doesn't want their stuff put into AI, that's their choice and right. In the same way you can choose not to participate in a study.
In the end, companies need to acknowledge the importance of artists, writers, and workers and their efforts (as well as accept human value in general). Nothing a machine produces will be able to compare to what the hands of a living being can make as they are, in the end, imitations of the original human works.
So again, AI isn't the devil, but it should be monitored and put to use for humans, not against humans.
Corporations need to learn that advancements in technology shouldn't be used to help their profits but to help humanity as whole (which in the end will benefit them if they can just get their heads out of the asses for one minute 🙄). And hopefully with the development of AI and robotics, humans will no longer have to do/work on anything that they don't wish to just so they can survive.
Life should be about enjoyment and experiences, not living paycheck to paycheck, and AI can help with that, but only if it's used properly and not taken advantage of.

Things that p*ss me off
Technology edition!
So- my parents are both diabetic and have cgm's (Continuous glucose monitors), which are little devices stuck on their arms that measure their blood sugar, then send that data to their phones every five minutes. Useful, right?
Switching topics real quick, I have a pair of over the ear Bluetooth headphones that I wear almost consistently, (ADHD and autism- helps me think clearly, lol).
Now- what upsets me is that my 25 dollar headphones (that don't even have active noise cancelling or touch, or anything fancy), have a range of roughly 100-150 ft before they disconnect. As in, I can leave my phone at one end of my house, go outside, to the other end, and into my neighbors yard, and still be able to hear my non life saving music.
My parents can't even go into an adjacent room without their disconnected alarm going off.
Let me repeat that, my 25 dollar headphones have over triple the range of my parents >100 dollar life saving cgm.
Oh- and don't forget it's not even accurate 70% of the time and that it has to be replaced every few weeks.

DO NOT FUCKING SCROLL PAST THIS PLEASE
THE US COPYRIGHT OFFICE HAS HEARD THE DEBATE OVER IF AI SHOULD BE COPYRIGHTABLE (it shouldn't, its legit theft) AND IS NOW SEEKING COMMENTS TO ASSESS IF THERE NEEDS TO BE ANY REGULATION OR LEGAL STEPS IN THE WHOLE COPYRIGHT LAW ISSUE! (If you've been on the AI homepage at all since like last monday, you've probably already seen this)
GO AND FUCKING COMMENT ON HOW AI GENERATED WORKS SHOULD NOT BE COPYRIGHTABLE! I WOULD ARGUE THAT EVEN WITH SIGNIFICANT HUMAN INPUT THEY SHOULDN'T BE COPYRIGHTABLE! BUT GO AND COMMENT ON HOW AND WHY IT SHOULDN'T BE COPYRIGHTABLE!
YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SUBMIT A WRITTEN COMMENT AFTER 11:59 PM EST ON WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 18TH, 2023! THIS INQUIRY DOCUMENT ALREADY HAS 7000 COMMENTS, AND COULD USE A WHOLE LOT MORE! GO AND COMMENT! LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! (Also, be nice. I don't think your comment will be taken into consideration or even published if you're rude and don't provide a constructive, understandable critism of ai and say why it shouldn't be something ppl can copyright.)

I kinda hate how people keep accusing actual artists of AI art without analysing every tiny bit of evidence.
‘that hand looks weird so it must be ai.’
Ok? Hands are hard to draw. Don’t use weird looking hands as your thesus on why someone’s art is ai.
‘Looks like ai”
Ok but do you see any evidence of that? The ai had to copy someone, of course there will be artists with art styles that look like AI.
In our efforts to spread awareness a lot of people are hurting real artists in the process. Is the amount of actual ai we expose worth the amount of artists we invalidate and shun? I don’t know, but this is definitely a problem. Maybe this isn’t the path forward?
I personally feel like it would be better if we choose different ways to prevent people from claiming AI art as their own moving forwards.

Every once in a while you find an absolutely brilliant scifi au on the fanfiction website with the most perfectly made first 7 out of 8 chapters, only to find that the final chapter 8 consists of a long and unhinged sex scene and little else. And you have to still bookmark the thing because the au is still brilliant and you cannot let it go (and also because you may be aroace but you are not weak and you refuse to be defeated by sex scenes)
