Incorrect Quotes: NCLB version part 2
Camille , to Harriet: One universe, nine planets, seven seas, seven continents, and I had the unfortunate luck of meeting you.
Adrian : Hey, that’s not very nice-
Harriet: There are only eight planets, you uncultured swine!
Adrian , forgetting about Camille : VIVA LA PLUTO, FUCK YOU!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harriet: Being gay is a constant battle between "I wish to sit on a window bench with my lover, our legs tangling as we listen to the birds" and "Hey, let's go throw rocks at fascists" and I think that's very sexy of us.
Anthony: If the window's open and you time it right, you can do both.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harriet: Wait. Where's Camille ? They love Dungeons and Dragons.
Xiaobo: I thought you invited them.
Sammy: Uh, I thought Ginny invited them.
Ginny: I thought Anthony invited them.
Anthony: I never invite them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Camille : I think we should kiss.
Xiaobo: And I think you should die but we don’t always get what we want.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ginny, at an awards show: Well, first of all, I’d like to thank Harriet, the love of my life, for telling me Sammy was going to win so don’t bother to prepare a speech.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ginny, laying in bed: Get out of my room.
Anxelin, standing just outside of the door frame: I’m not in your room.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Xiaobo: I’m 80% awesome 20% water and 100% handsome.
Ginny: That’s 200%.
Xiaobo: I’m twice the man you’ll ever be.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Harriet: I’m sick and tired of being called 'mortal' like, you don’t know that. Neither do I. I have never died even ONCE. Nothing has been proven yet. Stop making assumptions. It’s rude.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Xiaobo, writing in their diary with a glitter gel pen: I'm losing my sense of humanity. Nothing matters. God is dead. There's blood on my hands.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*The Squad is gathered in the living room for a meeting*
Camille : *walks in and sits on Xiaobo’s lap*
The Squad: …
Ginny: Why are you sitting there?
Camille : There’s no free seats!
Ginny: But we made sure there was enough room for-
Xiaobo: *hugs Camille tightly* There are no free seats.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Xiaobo: While you were caught up in your heterosexuality, I studied the way of the blade!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sammy, reading a recipe: Beat three eggs?
Lillianne: It means like in hand-to-hand combat.
Sammy: Ohhhh-
Adrian: Both of you get out of this kitchen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anthony: I see the red flags, I acknowledge that they're there, and then I completely ignore them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anthony: So anyways have y'all seen Xiaobo?
Ginny: I think they went in Camille's room 'studying'.
Lillianne: Doubt that. I heard groans there.
*Meanwhile in Camille's room*
Xiaobo & Camille, fighting:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Xiaobo: Why are you burning our marriage certificate!?
Camille: Good luck trying to return me without a receipt.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anthony: Last night I found out Ginny is a sleep talker.
Harriet: Oh, really?
Anthony: "The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell." Right. In. My. Ear. At 3am.
A new glossary of American fashion explores the expressive qualities of works by pioneering designers, who established the nation’s style, and the up-and-coming designers shaping its future.
In America: A Lexicon of Fashion presents a modern vocabulary of American dress that emphasizes emotions while not discounting the simple, practical, and egalitarian character that has traditionally separated American ready-to-wear from European haute couture. Stunning new photography showcases over 100 garments from the 1940s to the present that offer a timely new perspective on the diverse and multifaceted nature of American fashion.
The catalogue features works that display qualities such as belonging, comfort, desire, exuberance, fellowship, joy, nostalgia, optimism, reverence, spontaneity, strength, and sweetness by well-known designers and emerging creatives, including:
Gilbert #Adrian, Geoffrey Beene, Thom Browne, Bonnie Cashin, Willy Chavarria, Olivia Cheng, Telfar Clemens, #OscardelaRenta, Colm Dillane, #Perry Ellis,        Tremaine Emory, #TomFord, #RudiGernreich, #Halston, Elizabeth Hawes, #CarolinaHerrera, Conner Ives, #CharlesJames, Kerby Jean-Raymond, #DonnaKaran, #CalvinKlein, Michael Kors, #RalphLauren, Vera Maxwell, #ClaireMcCardell,Norman Norell ,Heron Preston, Christopher John Rogers, Raul Solís, Hillary Taymour, #DianevonFurstenberg, Vera Wang
BOOK RECS
Okay, so lots of people wanted this and so, I am compiling a list of my favourite books (both fiction and non-fiction), books that I recommend you read as soon as humanly possible. In the meantime, I’ll be pinning this post to the top of my blog (once I work out how to do that lmao) so it will be accessible for old and new followers. I’m going to order this list thematically, I think, just to keep everything tidy and orderly. Of course, a lot of this list will consist of historical fiction and historical non-fiction because that’s what I read primarily and thus, that’s where my bias is, but I promise to try and spice it up just a little bit.
📂 Regina's got to have staff at Town Hall... who are they?
Excellent Question!!! I have spent a lot of time thinking about this. Some things have made it into my stories and some have not. I wrote this pretty fast and off the top of my head so there might be some spelling and/or grammar errors. Here is my current Storybrooke Town Hall!
***
 City Manager/City Planner (The Technical Second in Command after the Mayor) - Cedwyn St John: Cedwyn is the son of a Duke and is very well educated. He is extremely intelligent and he knows it. He is, in fact, an insufferable know it all who thinks he is never wrong. As he is actually rarely wrong, Regina puts up with him. He knows Storybrooke inside and out, on paper at least. His people skills are lacking, though, so he prefers to work behind the scenes.
***
Finance/Budgetary Oversight - Beatriz "Bea" Naravez: Bea's father served under Prince Henry during the 10 Years War (The Southern Kingdom with their rival from across the Sunscraper Mountains (Aurora's Kingdom) When Prince Henry was exciled after King Xavier died, Lieutenant Luis and his family went north with Henry to continue in service to him. Beatriz often covered for Daniel and Regina when they escaped, though she was more Daniel's friend then Regina's. When The Evil Queen took over, Beatriz followed in her father's footsteps and joined her army. During a battle with Snow White she was hit by two arrows in the back and she was paralyzed from the waist down. Henry asked Regina to take her into civil service and trained her in accountancy and budgeting. She took to it well and was a natural fit to handle Storybrooke's taxes, finances and budget. In addition to her job at Town Hall, she volunteers at the school as a math tutor.
***
Public Works and Utilities/City Engineer/Inspector - Jean Jaque Charpentier: He was a foundling and raised by the Stone Mason Guild in George's Kingdom. He was extremly skilled and was considered a master castle builder. He is the man that keeps the practical parts of Storybook running. He knows every pipe, every wire and every building. He is the Municipal Workers Union leader and is very respected by everyone who reports to him works with him.
***
Parks, Rec and Community Outreach - Amanpreet Aroras: A merchant from Agrabah caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. He is a practicing Sikh and loves Storybrooke. A bachelor in his former wife, he met and dated his now wife for twenty-eight years in Storybrooke. They have recently married and have a baby on the way. When he's not working at Town Hall, he is often found working with the Nuns on various charity projects.
***
HR and Admin - Margaret "Marge" Adino: Hailing from the largest city in the Enchanted Forest, Marge ran the largest and richest brothel in the kingdom. She was, and remains, an excellent judge of character and is often sought out as a moderator when something needs to be settled. She remains very protective of those who worked for her and kept records of everyone who ever used their services. She can often be found at the back-room poker games at The Rabbit Hole where she also moonlights as a bookie. Also, for a price, she will connect willing sex workers and those looking for their services. Marge has enough information on the citizens to destroy countless marriages if provoked. No one provokes Marge.
***
IT: Andy Tremaine - A relatively new addition to Town Hall, Andy is an expert on computers. Since the Curse broke he has been hard at work bringing Storybrooke into the current age. Andy is a trans-man and is estranged from most of his family. Recently, though, he has made amends with his step sister Ashley. He babysits Alexandra one night a week so her parents can go out. While his neice watches Sesamee Street, he wiles away the hours trying to hack into various databases and servers. He considers himself a white hat and has been known to join with groups such as Anonymous if he feels the cause is just.
***
Office Manager (Regina's actual second in command) - Dana Malone: Dana is a no-nonsense woman who worked her way up in Leopold's castle and stayed on when Regina took over. She held no rank of her own, but held more power than many nobles. She disliked the King but liked Regina well enough when she wasn't throwing a royal tantrum. Some people say that she had an affair with Lord Henry, but that has never been substantiated. She is one of Regina's most valued advisors and keeps Storybrooke running when Regina can not. When Snow White took over as Mayor, she threatened to quit, but remained at Regina's request to make sure Storybrooke survived.
***
Support Staff:
Administrative Assistant - Adrian Bona: A former stable boy, Adrian is one of the most dependable people at Town Hall. He spends most of his days filing paperwork and answering emails. If it comes to or from Town Hall, it has passed through Adrian's hands. He is deaf, a Capricorn and is an aspiring painter. He has an online gallery and has started taking online commisions lately.
***
Administrative Assistant: Laura McKinney - A low-born noble, she was perfectly happy helping her father run his trading company in Midas's kingdom. Now she schedules appointments, meetings and makes sure that everyone has everything they need. She can lay her hands on anything. Office supplies, new phones, art, jewelery. Even Mr. Gold is in awe of of her.
***
The Mayor's Personal Assistant - Anese "Aggie" Ricci: She was from a mid-tier noble family in Midas's kingdom. She was very well educated, spoke 4 languages, knew advanced mathematics and history. She even had a small magical ability. She was destined to marry well and live a good life, or she was until her father fell out with Midas. To save face, her father sent her as a gift to Midas's court. She thought she would be a maid to the Princess, but instead she was then sent to The Evil Queen's court as a "coronation gift". Aggie was furious to be treated like nothing more than a piece of property. Surprisingly, Queen Regina understood her anger and offered her the opportunity to be more than a simple lady in waiting. She became Regina's spy-master. She was extremely good at her job and just as loyal to Regina. Most people figure that she is still Regina's eyes and ears and don't trust her very much.
No Child Left Behind AU
This is a Descendants AU in which VKs didn't grow up on the Isle
Every month, Auradon sends gaurds to the Isle to collect any children born during that month or any that were missed on the previous visits. The collected VKs are the put into the foster care system with a few being taken in by Family members or groups who wish to perseve the culture of the child's heritage.
The initiative was spearheaded by the Charmings and The Fitzherberts with them bringing in several political allies to pressure King Beast.
These are the main families who take in or personally place the VKs of their villians.
The placements of "Important" VKs
The Hooks (only Harriet, Harry, and CJ) were each raised on Neverland with the Fairies until they were 3, when Auradon determined they didn't have any abilities that would nesscitate being raised by the fairies and placed them into foster care.
When Harriet turned 18, she hunted down and adopted her siblings
Anthony, Adrian, and Dominique Tremaine were raised by their fathers while the rest if the Tremaines were placed in families who were personally vetted by the Charmings. They all know of each other and have the option of meeting and interacting.
The Faciliers were taken in by Mama Odie, who wanted to protect the magic they were bound to have and keep it in the Bayou
The Song sisters were also raised in New Orleans by the LeBeaus who had dealings with their mother. An arrangement paid in information, training, and an offshore account filled with enough money to guarantee the sisters can live whatever life they want.
Only Myd, Magnus, and Mars Mim (last names known as Emrys) were placed with family, their grandfather. The rest of the Mims are scattered in foster families. Many of them were late findings, being taken as old as 4 years old.
The Metternich siblings were taken in by Snow White. Eventually. This only happened after both showed incredible intelligence and a knack for politics.
The de Vils were taken in by the Radcliffes surprisingly. They weren't sure if they were going to, with Hunter being in foster care for a few years. They decided to put out of remembrance of their old friend.
There are quite a few VKs attending Auradon Prep, being either sponsored by royal families or via scholarships.
Current Students include Noelle Song, Jay Reynolds, Carlos de Vil, and Harry Hook on scholarships.
Various Tremaine siblings, Mars Emrys, Faciliers, and Evangelina Metternich sponsored by families
my favorite meme // @rcsedoux // accepting
1. Diana Tremaine and Rosella Cracker
So I basically had to skim her wiki but uh, I’m? Such a sucker for pirate/princess tropes? And Diana, also a lady of noble birth who loves doing reckless shit? Idk, I’m just here for pirate/princess shenanigans.
2. Phoebe Carter and Adrian Tepes
DHAMPIR AND HUNTER? DHAMPIR AND HUNTER. C.astlevania’s on the list but I haven’t checked it out, but it seems like a good chance for me to figure out a more period AU for Pheebs which I’m so down for. She’s down to kill D.racula, lbr
3. Harriet Hook and Sombra
Honestly? No clue. They’d probably be an excellent fighting duo but as far as figuring out a place for them to mesh, idk? Hook’s a criminal even in her modern verse but he’s pretty small time. Idk. Fun fighty girls though!
4. Melody Andersen and Diana of Themyscira
OKAY THIS COULD BE FUN! I don’t have a fleshed out superhero verse for Mels but! Can you just imagine Atlantica is near Themyscira!? Because I do have an AU where Melody is raised by Triton so just? Diana who’s got this mermaid buddy growing up, for literal years? Please.
5. Persephone and Cindy Tremaine
I haven’t worked out a Fables verse for Seph but honestly? Just let these two bitch about life and fight people together?? Idk, I could see them being good friends, just drinking wine and complaining about shit together.
