The similarities between the Vedic Gods and Egyptian Gods are numerous and striking.

Vedic Gods in Egyptian Pyramids and Literature

GARUD :

Garud is younger brother of Aruna. Garuda associated with Garud Puran, book that deals with soul after death. Horus is associated with Egyptian book of the dead. Just like Horus, Garud often acts as a messenger between the gods and men and is called the ranger of the skies. Anzu steals the tablets of destiny. Anzu is the servant of chief sky god Enlil. Ninruta chases Anzu with his thunderbolts. Garud steals the elixir of immortality. Garud is the servant of chief Bhagwan Vishnu. Indra chases Garud with his thunderbolts.

DAKSH :

Khnum is referred to as father of the fathers and fathered many gods and goddesses. Daksh was one of the sons of Brahma and a main prajapati from whose line Dev's and Asur's come from. Many goddesses like Aditi, Diti, Danu, Sati etc came from Daksh. Daksh was known as the bright one. Both of them are depicted with the head of a goat like creature. Daksh is believed to have started sexual reproduction. Heqet, wife of Khnum is associated with childbirth. Prasuti Tantra, the book of obstetrics is named after Prasuti, the wife of Daksh.

MATSYADEV :

Matsya, incarnation of Bhagwan Vishnu is mentioned as Hatmehit, or Hatmehyt in Egyptian History. The name literally means Protector-chief of fish. Hatmehit is always related with Mehet-Weret, meaning great flood. When the world was consumed by the oceanic water, Bhagwan Vishnu appeared in the form of a fish and saved the species of animals, plants and humans. Hatmehit is depicted with a horn on His head and a snake tied to it. As we know, Matsya was a large golden fish with a horn to which a huge boat was tied by the king of serpents, Vasuki.

Press Club of India elects new office-bearers

The results of the Press Club of India (PCI) election 2024 was declared on Sunday, with the existing panel of senior journalists Gautam Lahiri and Neeraj Thakur making a clean sweep.

All key posts of five office-bearers and 16 managing committee members were bagged by the Gautam Lahiri-Neeraj Thakur panel.

Present president Gautam Lahiri was reelected to the post, securing 1045 votes. His opponents Atul Mishra and Arun Sharma polled 133 and 116 votes, respectively.

Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty was elected vice-president with 930 votes against Rahil Chopra and Prahlad Singh Rajput, who received 230 and 100 votes, respectively.

For the post of secretary general, Neeraj Thakur defeated Laxmi Devi Aree, securing 913 votes. Afzal Imam was elected as the joint secretary while Mohit Dubey bagged the post of  treasurer.

There were 28 candidates in the fray for the 16-member managing committee. Among the members, Aditi Rajput secured the highest votes (985) while Meghna Dhulia got the second highest votes (905).

Apart from them, Surabhi Kanga, Pragya Singh, Nalini Ranjan Mohanty, Sunil Negi, Asish Gupta, Shankar Anand, Ravinder Kumar, Abhishek Kumar Singh, Anindya Chattopadhyay,  Amitabha Roy Chowdhury, Mohammad Azad, Ashraf Bastavi, PR Sunil, and Pabba Suresh  Babu were declared as the managing committee members.

The election took place on 9 November at the PCI premises.

The event featured an array of garments that celebrated the cultural diversity of numerous countries, designed by the talented students of AAFT: Morocco: Garments by Arjun & Rajshree, Ethiopia: Designs by Simran Rankawat, Russia: Cultural influences in the designs by Rishnika, Chhavi, and Shivani, Brazil: Impressive range by Anushka, Riya, and Aditi Batra, USA: Creative pieces by Rehab Fatima, Paraguay: Highlighted by designer Imran and Chile: Colorful range by Junaid

Adding to the grandeur of the event, two coffee table books were launched, designed by young designers from the AAFT School of Fashion Communication: “Zodiac Symbolism” by Digbijoy Majumdar, “Red Indians” by Rashi Khajuria

28 years of Khuda Gawah .. 5 years of Piku .. vivid as ever .. alive in memory .. lost in the remembrance of the two from there .. exceptional in presence and talent .. and leaving at such short presence .. 

But a third too from Khuda Gawah  .. the director Mukul S Anand .. left too early .. the magic of his vision .. his eyes were magical camera lenses .. even after this large interval the frames he did were extraordinary .. 

Khuda Gawah .. the shooting in Afghanistan .. a book shall be required to describe that detail .. hopefully some day .. 

.. and Piku .. each day spent in the delight of inventing, ad libbing .. making that which has not been written or described , but felt .. doing that which even during the early working days at Calcutta were never done .. cycling the streets ..

.. Khuda Gawah .. the incredible Afghan hospitality .. the immense love from all .. the care and the bonds of friendships .. the stories of the visit bringing emotional quotients .. 

.. would need days to put all this together .. some day perhaps ..

and then the other ..
