Every kid who has read a comic book or watched a Spider-Man movie has tried to imagine what it would be like to shoot a web from their wrist, fly over streets, and pin down villains. Researchers at Tufts University took those imaginary scenes seriously and created the first web-slinging technology in which a fluid material can shoot from a needle, immediately solidify as a string, and adhere to and lift objects. The study is published in the journal Advanced Functional Materials. These sticky fibers, created at the Tufts University Silklab, come from silk moth cocoons, which are boiled in solution and broken down into their building block proteins called fibroin. The silk fibroin solution can be extruded through narrow bore needles to form a stream that, with the right additives, solidifies into a fiber when exposed to air.

What would happen if you put a meatball in the vacuum chamber?
i would destroy over million dollars worth of equipment in a single second. its quick its easy its free. how to get fired in one step.
as for why putting a meatball would destroy our vacuum chambers, its actually less about it being a meatball specifically, and more the concept of putting a large amount of organic material in the chambers (granted meatballs are particularly juicy which would make them especially bad). When you put any organic material inside a chamber under ultra high vacuum, the large organic molecules peel off the material and will coat every surface in the chamber, including our microchannel plates, filaments, electron beam source, the walls themselves, condensing lenses, scanning tips, etc and some of our vacuum pumps themselves reducing their effectiveness. and if I were to put a sample in, the residual organic molecules would coat the sample too, making any data unreliable and moot.
It's not just that those molecules will go everywhere, they're also incredibly hard to remove. to the point where if I put a meatball in our STM, theres no feasible way we could actually clean it to the point where it would be operable...at least not without taking the whole machine apart.
this is also why we have to be super careful whenever working with something that's going to go into the sample or doing maintenance, we cant touch anything that's actually going to go under ultra high vacuum since even the residual grease on our skin can deposit material. we even have to use specific types of metals since certain things like zinc and cadmium will release flying molecules too.

You can also use sports tape like KT Tape. The nice thing about some of these sports tape is that it is body-safe and less expensive than some binding brands. Don't use duct tape for binding - it's very abrasive on the skin, and it's not breathable. Honestly, I've heard the most things said about KT Tape and some people talking about trans tape, I think those can be safe options to start with. However, make sure to do research into whatever brand you're looking into. Make sure the adhesive and material the tape is made out of is safe for your body. Have a mental list of materials you know is safe for your body - or materials you think will be safe for your body.

Modern integrated microelectronic devices are often poorly repairable and difficult to recycle. Debondable adhesives play a key role in the transition to a circular economy with sustainable resources, less waste, and intelligent repair/recycling strategies. In the journal Angewandte Chemie, a research team has now introduced a method for making adhesives that can be deactivated "on command." Their inspiration came from the masters of underwater adhesion: mussels. Mussel-inspired adhesives have been developed before. These new versions are based on thiol-catechol polyaddition, which forms polymers with adhesive thiol-catechol connectivities (TCC, thiol-substituted six-membered aromatic rings with two neighboring OH groups which are responsible for the strong adhesive properties). The trick is that when the catechol groups in the adhesive polymers are oxidized to quinones (six-membered rings with two oxygen atoms bound by double bonds), the strength of adhesion decreases dramatically.
