I also found out via my on efforts that there is a tag limit as putting the bee movie script in the tags and trying to reblog crashes the site. It did however post but the tags ended up getting truncated and cut off, but you should also include the tags in your calculations as you should be able to get a few thousand more characters in that way.

Did you know? Tumblr DOES have a post length limit. Strangely, though, it's based on how many blocks of text you have. Supposedly this implies that you can have any length post so long as it's one block of text? Very strange, will have to investigate further.
