Parting Thoughts
The most important lesson I learned in university is
You are your own greatest obstacle. You are limited by what you believe you are able to achieve. My story
5 years ago, I started UBC as an Arts student intending to major in English. I quickly learned that I had no interest in any of my English courses and looked towards majoring in another subject. (My love for reading did not translate to enjoying those courses). Having no prior programming experience and not even knowing what exactly Computer Science entails, I initially wrote off the possibility of majoring in it. However, when I became confused as what field I should endeavour in life, it opened up the possibility. With the encouragement of my family, I took my introductory course in Computer Science (CPSC 110). I can tell you that it wasn't love at the first program I wrote. I toiled through concepts like recursion and trees that were introduced in CPSC 110. While I ended up getting an 'A' in the course, I had to invest a considerable amount of effort into it. That was the common tune during my undergrad: that hard work always precedes success. It wasn't until later when I took a project course that I became entranced at what code could produce - applications. At that point, my life trajectory became clear as I decided to major in Computer Science and dedicate the next years of my life working in the technology industry. I ended up enjoying my Computer Science courses (especially ones that involved a hefty amount of programming), Math, and Stastistics. In retrospect, my life would have been different if I hadn't decided to take that plunge into the unknown. (Alright, it was initially more like a dip to test the waters). The road to graduation was certainly riddled with external obstacles - difficult exams, time-consuming projects, and uncooperative teammates. However, I found that the greatest obstacle was myself. I was only limited by what I believed I was capable of doing. But I proved myself wrong time and time again by trying.

Colleges & Universities with Degree Programs in Classics or Related Fields in the United States of America (Part 1)
Tumblr media
[This list first published on February 6th, 2019 at 8:42 a.m. PST. If I have missed any schools, please let me know. I will update the list as necessary and this will be an ongoing project. American colleges and universities are organized by state. Part 1 ends with Missouri and Part 2 will start with Montana. Note: this list will not include anthropology/archaeology/history if it does not have a specific concentration in the ancient world. Also, if the school only has minors and no major available, it won’t be listed, either. Both undergraduate and graduate programs will be listed.]
